SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE SUNDAY
Sunday, January 20th
January 22, 2008 Will Be the 35th anniversary of the Roe V. Wade Ruling Which Launched the American Abortion Holocaust.
Since the 1973 Supreme Court decision, the innocent blood of nearly 50 million unborn children has been shed.
Since 1983, Americans have observed Sanctity of Human Life Sunday (SOHLS) as a day to celebrate the intrinsic value of all human life. This important day also provides an opportunity for pregnancy centers to share about the work they do each day to bring life-affirming resources to their communities and to empower women and men to choose life for their unborn children.
On Sunday the 20th, Pastors across America are urged to preach a message on the Sanctity of Human life.
On Tuesday, Jan. 22nd, the annual March for Life will take place in Washington, DC and other cities across America. PRAYER REQUESTS FROM INTERCESSORS FOR AMERICA · May Churches across America celebrate Life this coming Sunday while they simultaneously mourn the loss of a generation of young people from 35 years of abortion. · Offer prayer that the eyes of the American people be opened to see that all human beings are "image- bearers" at every stage of life-from conception to adulthood, and to old age and natural death. (Genesis 1:26-27) Human beings as embryos are known by God, named and ordained unto destiny. (Isaiah 49:1- 5; Jeremiah 1:5; Luke 1:13-17)
PRAYERS FOR JAN. 20, 22
· Offer thanksgiving for President Bush's continued affirmation of the sanctity of human life and his call for a "culture of life" in America. Repent for the nearly 50 million abortions performed in the U.S. since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.
· Intercede that God would intervene with the media, medical community and public schools to proclaim the truth and beauty of human development before birth, especially to our nation's children, teens and young adults. Pray for January pro-life observances in Washington, DC and across the nation.
· May God do an unprecedented work in the coming election campaign to advance the cause of Life! May pro-life men and women be elected to office at every level! May pastors preach the Word; may prosecutors labor to uphold the laws! May new laws be passed in 2008 that will radically restrain the evil of abortion and may Roe v. Wade be overturned! May God give His people faith to carry the fight to the finish! (Dt 8:1; 30:19; Is 61:1-2; Jn 1:4; 10:10; Acts 2:28)
