Trump says he agrees '100%' with keeping U.S. troops in Syria

WASHINGTON - Two months after declaring all U.S. troops are leaving Syria, President Donald Trump wrote to members of Congress that he now agrees "100%" with keeping a military presence in Syria.

A bipartisan group of Senators and Representatives wrote to Trump on Feb. 22, applauding his decision to keep a small residual force in Syria.

"We support a small American stabilizing force in Syria," the group wrote, adding that a force "which includes a small contingent of American troops and ground forces from our European allies, is essential to ensure stability and prevent the return of ISIS."

In a copy of the letter obtained by NBC News, Trump highlighted a paragraph in the letter about the U.S. goals in Syria, which said, "Like you, we seek to ensure that all of the gains made in Syria are not lost, that ISIS never returns, that Iran is not emboldened, and that we consolidate our gains and ensure the best outcome in Geneva for American interests."

"I agree 100%. ALL is being done," President Trump responded, writing directly on the letter and signing it.

Focus on Israel

1. Trump blasts Omar's latest remarks: A 'dark day for Israel' - World Israel News

U.S. President Donald Trump says that the latest comment made by U.S. Democratic congresswoman Ilhan Omar relating to Jews and Israel marks a "dark day" for the Jewish State.

"Representative Ilhan Omar is again under fire for her terrible comments concerning Israel. Jewish groups have just sent a petition to Speaker Pelosi asking her to remove Omar from Foreign Relations Committee. A dark day for Israel!" Trump said on Twitter.

Trump was responding to Omar's tweet, in which she wrote: "I should not be expected to have allegiance/pledge support to a foreign country in order to serve my country in Congress or serve on committee."

Her comments were seen as suggesting that encouraging support for Israel amounts to advocating allegiance to a foreign country.

2. Waqf rejects Israeli court order to shutter Temple Mount's Gate of Mercy - Times of Israel

JERUSALEM (AP) - The Islamic authority that oversees Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem rejected Tuesday an Israeli court order to close a contested religious area that has ignited tension between Palestinian worshipers and Israeli police in recent weeks.

Sheikh Abdelazeem Salhab, chairman of the Waqf Council appointed under agreement with Israel by neighboring Jordan, said that the area in Jerusalem's Old City beside the Gate of Mercy would "remain open for Muslims to pray," despite Israel's ultimatum to close the site by next Monday.

Salhab's refusal could set up a showdown with Israeli authorities on the sensitive esplanade where moves by either side can quickly inflame regional tensions.

3. Israel & Jordan's 'Tug of War' - Jerusalem Online

Control of the Gate of Mercy (Golden Gate, Shaar Harachamim in Hebrew, Bab el Rahma in Arabic) on the Temple Mount has fallen into the hands of Jordan like a ripe fruit as the publication of the President Trump's "Deal of the Century" approaches.

Jordan is using Israel's actions on the Temple Mount to emphasize its special role there as the guardian of the holy sites in accordance with the peace agreement with Israel in 1994.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a message to Jordan more than a week ago, asking that the Muslim Waqf council be instructed to close the Gate of Mercy building before it is forcibly closed by the police. But the Jordanian government has ignored the message and has taken a firm stand to leave the Gate of Mercy building open.

The Jordanian Waqf office announced on March 3, 2019, that the Gate of Mercy is an integral part of the Al-Aqsa mosque and is not subject to negotiations, division, or partnership.

4. 2 Israeli Families Attacked After Entering New Home in Old City of Jerusalem - Jewish Press

Two Israeli families were attacked on Tuesday shortly after entering a house on Tuesday that was purchased from an Arab on Ma'alot Ha-Prachim Street in the Muslim Quarter in Jerusalem's Old City.

The home is located near the Herod's Gate entrance to the Old City. Shortly after the families moved in, dozens of Arabs surrounded the house and attempted to break in hurling rocks at the home and rioting. Israeli police forces arrested several Arab rioters.

Palestinian Authority sources claimed the house was sold to the Israelis by land dealer Issam Aqel, a Jerusalem resident who was kidnapped in October by the Palestinian Authority Security Service, and subsequently arrested and charged with selling land to Jews - a capital crime in the Palestinian Authority.

5. Israeli Moon Lander Snaps Epic Space Selfie with a Full Earth - Space.com

Israel's first lunar lander has notched another important milestone - its first in-space selfie.

The newly released photo shows the robotic lander, known as Beresheet, looking back at Earth from a distance of 23,363.5 miles (37,600 kilometers). "In the photo of Earth, taken during a slow spin of the spacecraft, Australia is clearly visible," mission team members wrote in an image description today (March 5). "Also seen is the plaque installed on the spacecraft, with the Israeli flag and the inscriptions 'Am Yisrael Chai' and 'Small Country, Big Dreams.'"

The Hebrew phrase "Am Yisrael chai" translates as, "The nation of Israel lives," or, "The people of Israel live."

The Daily Brief

1. Trump Has Saved the Free Speech Movement - American Greatness

The president announced at the Conservative Political Action Convention on Saturday that he would sign an executive order that would oblige American universities to comply with the First Amendment's free-speech protections or risk losing federal funding.

President Trump supports us. With that support will come real change: change the media cannot bury or ignore. The sanctimonious, haughty, platitudinous nonsense that academic elites feed themselves about "only being intolerant of intolerance" will be swept away by the harsh light of the law. The Free Speech Movement will live again.

President Trump has ensured that the bodies of innocent conservative college students are not fodder for progressive machine politics. President Trump understands that that machine operates in direct opposition to our freedom, and because of that, he has taken the steps necessary to prevent the machine from working at all. The Free Speech Movement lives at Berkeley again. And the well-meaning liberals couldn't be more terrified. (Read more)

- Father, help us hope for the redemption of our universities. We pray this renewed free speech movement will lead to repentance and the saving of many souls upon each and every campus.

- The Teacher searched to find just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true. The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails-given by one shepherd. (Ecclesiastes 12:10-11)

2. David Axelrod Calls Out Democrats for Making Investigations Look Like 'Witch-Hunt' - Breitbart

David Axelrod, who served as senior adviser to former President Barack Obama, criticized House Democrats on Monday for their blanket demand for documents from more than 80 people associated with President Trump, warning it could play into the characterization of a witch hunt.

"Maybe I'm missing something, but the hazard of an omnibus document demand by House judiciary versus discreet, serial ones is that, however legitimate the areas of inquiry, the wide-ranging nature of it is too easily plays into the 'witch-hunt' meme," he tweeted. The Democrats' investigation is launching as Special Counsel Robert Mueller's is winding down, so far without any revelations of collusion with Russia. The document demand is related to everything from Trump's business dealings with Russia, whether he obstructed justice by firing former FBI Director Jim Comey, and payments his former lawyer made to women who alleged affairs with Trump. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for an end to these needless and wasteful investigations directed toward President Trump and his associates.

The archers bitterly attacked him, and shot at him and harassed him; but his bow remained firm, and his arms were agile, from the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob. (Genesis 49:23-24a)

3. Former Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker Leaves Justice Department - Breitbart

Less than three weeks after William Barr was confirmed as Trump's next Attorney General, Whitaker has quietly exited the Department of Justice. According to NBS News, sources close to Whitaker have claimed he will remain in D.C. to pursue the "many opportunities here." A spokesperson for the Justice Department "did not expand on the circumstances surrounding [Whitaker's] departure or his plans after leaving." Whitaker served as the acting Attorney General for several months following the resignation of Jeff Sessions, after Sessions recused himself from the Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into the 2016 Trump campaign's alleged connections to Russia.

Whitaker recently appeared before the House Judiciary Committee, where he was thoroughly grilled on his communications and work surrounding the Mueller investigation. He testified that he did not interfere in any way, nor was he asked to by President Trump. (Read more)

- Father, we thank You for Matthew Whitaker's service to our nation and pray his replacement will be a man or woman of integrity, and of Your choosing, to fill this important role at the Department of Justice.

- Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank. (Proverbs 22:29)

4. Washington Post: Border Rush May Hit 100,000 Migrants in March - Breitbart

The cross-border migrant inflow may reach 100,000 people in March, according to the Washington Post. "The number of migrants taken into custody last year jumped 39 percent from February to March, and a similar increase this month would push levels to 100,000 detentions or more."

U.S. court restrictions on the government's ability to keep children in immigration jails - and the sheer volume of people arriving - have left Homeland Security agencies [on the border] defaulting increasingly to the overflow model Trump deplores as "catch-and-release." Across rural Guatemala, Martinez said, word has spread that those who travel with a child can expect to be released from U.S. custody. Smugglers were offering two-for-one pricing, knowing they just needed to deliver clients to the border - not across it - for an easy surrender to U.S. agents. (Read more)

- Father, we lift up the crisis on our border and pray for Your supernatural help to establish law and order.

- Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven. (Job 25:2)

5. Pelosi to House Dems: Get Ready to Pass Dream Act - Breitbart

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told Democrats on Monday to get ready to pass the Dream Act that will provide a pathway to citizenship for "millions" of so-called Dreamers. In her "Dear colleague" letter, Pelosi said that "in the weeks ahead," she will bring the Dream Act to the floor along with the Equality Act, which will provide civil rights protections to the LGBT community. Pelosi said she has reserved bill number H.R. 6 for the "Dream and Promise Act," which will reportedly give a pathway to citizenship to "millions of Dreamers" in addition to the "roughly 800,000 who have had legal protections under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals [DACA] program."

In addition, the bill will also reportedly extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to those from Sudan, Nicaragua, Haiti, and El Salvador while providing Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) protections for refugees from Liberia. (Read more)

- Father, we ask You for the comprehensive immigration reform our nation needs. We pray the Dream and Promise Act will begin that process and the final bill will be what our nation needs.

- Jesus replied, "What is impossible with man is possible with God." (Luke 18:27)

6. Trump, RNC Courting African-American Voters Ahead of 2020 - FreeBeacon

The Republican National Committee is making a concerted effort to court African-American voters ahead of the 2020 presidential election. The decision reflects a growing list of accomplishments President Donald Trump can credibly point to in the realm of expanding economic opportunities for minorities.

The president's early and relentless focus on tax reform has paid dividends by creating more than 5 million new jobs and pushing the African-American unemployment to a record low of 5.9 percent. The tax cuts, combined with targeted efforts to spur economic development through the opportunity zone initiative, has led to a boost in African-American small-business ownership. Funding for school choice programs, which are primarily utilized by low-income families of color, has grown by more than $42 million since 2017. Likewise, funding for historically black colleges and universities has jumped by as much as 14 percent.

As McDaniel sees it, though, one of Trump's biggest feats was achieved by leading Democrats and Republicans to find common ground on criminal justice reform. Trump challenged the GOP "to start showing up in communities that don't always vote for us and share our ideas and our values." (Read more)

- Father, we pray African-American voters will be open and hear arguments from both sides, giving their votes to the party that will truly help their communities and futures.

- As a fair exchange-I speak as to my children-open wide your hearts also.
(2 Corinthians 6:13)

7. There Are Now 14 Democratic Presidential Candidates As Hickenlooper Enters Race - ZeroHedge

The second Democratic governor entered the increasingly crowded 2020 primary field on Monday when former Colo. Gov. John Hickenlooper announced his plans to run. Hickenlooper, who is best known for overseeing the implementation of Colorado's legalization of cannabis, is seeking to cast himself as a "can-do uniter" who managed to accomplish liberal goals in a divided swing state, according to the Washington Post.

With the entrance of Hickenlooper, the already crowded Democratic field swells to 14, including six senators. They are John Hickenlooper, Jay Inslee, Elizabeth Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand, Cory Booker, Bernie Sanders, Amy Klobuchar, Kamala Harris, Julian Castro, Pete Buttigieg, Andrew Yang, John Delaney, Tulsi Gabbard, and Marianne Williamson.

Of course, many other candidates - including presumed front-runner Joe Biden - have yet to announce: It's likely that the field will expand to include two New York City mayors (Michael Bloomberg and Bill de Blasio), Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, and Texas Congressman Beto O'Rourke (another front-runner). (Read more)

- Father, we pray whoever becomes the nominee for the Democrat party will clearly and honestly communicate their plans for our nation.

- Then the eyes of those who see will no longer be closed, and the ears of those who hear will listen. The fearful heart will know and understand, and the stammering tongue will be fluent and clear. (Isaiah 32:3-4)

8. The new plan to prevent veteran suicides: new grants, better research, more community focus - Military Times

The White House is creating a new high-level task force on preventing veterans suicide which will include new community outreach grants aimed at former service members and expanded projects across a host of government agencies to coordinate research and prevention efforts.

President Donald Trump will sign a new executive order on the initiative - dubbed the President's Roadmap to Empower Veterans and End a National Tragedy of Suicide, or PREVENTS - on Tuesday afternoon at the White House.

It's the latest in a series of steps by his administration to address the problem, which claims an estimated 20 veterans lives every day. Last year, the president signed a separate executive order providing more counseling and mental health care for recently separated service members, who face a significantly higher risk of suicide than other military groups. (Read more)

- Father, we thank You for the release of these resources to help our veterans. We pray each one will seek out and receive the help they need.

- He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. (Psalm 40:2)

9. First lady visits Microsoft to discuss online safety for kids - Seattle Times

Politics took a back seat during first lady Melania Trump's trip to Microsoft on Monday to learn about the company's work on accessibility and online safety for children. The software giant was the second stop in a three-city tour to promote the first lady's "Be Best" initiative, which is calling attention to child well-being, online safety and anti-bullying efforts, and opioid abuse. The tour began Monday morning with a stop at a Tulsa, Oklahoma, charter school and is scheduled to conclude Tuesday in Las Vegas with a town hall on the opioid epidemic.

The visit follows discussions last summer between the first lady and company executives at their Washington D.C. offices shortly after she launched her Be Best initiative, Smith said. Microsoft has extensive initiatives aimed at online safety for kids, including parental tools and public education and awareness campaigns, as well as adaptive technology for use by kids with disabilities.(Read more)

- Father, we pray for Melania Trump's safety and effectiveness as she addresses leaders to combat bullying and addiction.

- Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. (Proverbs 31:31)

10. Female High Schooler Speaks Out After Losing Championship To Two Transgender Sprinters - Daily Wire

Connecticut high schooler Selina Soule appeared on Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle" on Tuesday night to discuss transgender athletes in women's sports. Soule recently competed in a high-stakes competition where two biologically male transgender sprinters beat the field, taking first and second place by significant margins. Soule finished in 8th place, missing an opportunity to compete in front of college coaches by two places.

"I am very happy for these athletes and I fully support them for being true to themselves and having the courage to do what they believe in," Soule told host Laura Ingraham. "But, in athletics, it's an entirely different situation. It's scientifically proven that males are built to be physically stronger than females. It's unfair to put someone who is biologically a male, who has not undergone anything in terms of hormone therapy, against cis-gender girls." (Read more)

- Lord, You have seen the plight of our young female athletes, who are routinely now exposed to unfair advantage based on lies from the enemy. We ask that You move mightily to stop the spread of the lie of transgenderism, and draw people to Yourself in the power of Your Spirit.

- "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, the whosoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

Warning Signs: Current events in America and prophecy

The headlines we are reading and hearing are about division, obstruction, and revolution. The Democratic Party, led by socialists and communists, have commandeered the media stage with accusation after accusation, investigation after investigation, pitting citizens against citizens, social position against social position, race against race, ethnicity against ethnicity, projection of bigotry, hate, racism, and phobias. This country is divided by a minority of bullies who are dead set on toppling the world's greatest country and pillaging it of its wealth and resources. America is in a battle for its very soul, for its very existence. A specific future event related to Israel may determine the outcome of our nation as we know it.

In 2005, when president George W. Bush coerced and pressured then Prime Minister of Israel Ariel Sharon to remove some 8,500 Israeli Jews from Gaza, the United States embarked on a collision course with the one true God. It was within a few days that Katrina hit the US coast. Inside of six months, Sharon suffered a stroke and died in 2014 after lingering in "a persistent vegetative state." America elected a sympathetic Marxist Islamist as president who promised "A New Beginning" with Muslims in his first major speech in Cairo. Israel came under constant attack as that president supported the Muslim Brotherhood-inspired Arab Spring rebellion of anti-Israel interests across the Middle East. During that time, America suffered with national disasters, high unemployment, rising national debt and a host of political disruptions.

President Donald Trump has been a strong supporter of Israel, reversing the political and spiritual direction of the previous administration. He has restored relations, recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital, and has moved the US Embassy there in a historic reversal of previous presidents. The United States has seen a turn around in its economy, yet the lingering political disruption has accelerated. The combination of the communistic insurrection fomented by the Democratic Party, the soaring national debt, and one explicit decision by Trump in the near future might form a perfect storm that could determine America's position in prophecy.

If Trump's Middle East peace plan seeks to divide Israel with a Palestinian state, there will be consequences. The stage is set with political unrest, economic imbalance, and spiritual emptiness to severely cripple America. These conditions, if they came to maturity simultaneously, could remove the United States from effectively standing in the gap for Israel, which in turn could clear the way for the end time beast to arise. As promised by God in Genesis 12:3 regarding Israel, "And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curses thee . . ." The warning signs are here before us. We need to stand as Christians ought to stand, pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and act as God would have us act. We can't stop the march of prophecy, but it is far better for America to be on the side of God when the Messiah returns.

Have a blessed and powerful day,

The Daily Jot Staff

About Ilhan Omar

Ilhan Omar Has Company Pushing Dual Loyalty Narrative

Another day and, it seems, another chapter in the ongoing saga of U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar's anti-Semitism. Omar, a freshman Democrat from Minnesota, in 2012 accused Israel of "hypnotizing the world" and prayed that "Allah awaken the people and help them see [its] evil doings." After apologizing and pledging to learn more about "the painful history of anti-Semitic tropes," Omar last month blamed Jewish money for driving criticism she and fellow freshman U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, receive for their "criticisms of Israel."

Then during an appearance last week, she said her critics represent a "political influence in this country that says it is okay to push for allegiance to a foreign country" - meaning Israel. Jews have the power to hypnotize the world. Their money controls American policy, and their allegiance is "to a foreign country."

> > > For those keeping score at home, Omar has checked at least two of the boxes in the U.S. State Department's definition of anti-Semitism. That definition does not include criticism of Israel's government or policies. It does include uttering "stereotypical allegations about Jews as such or the power of Jews as a collective-especially but not exclusively, the myth about a world Jewish conspiracy or of Jews controlling the media, economy, government or other societal institutions." [Emphasis added]
"Accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interest of their own nations," also is anti-Semitic by definition.
Fellow Democrat Eliot Engel, chairman of the House Foreign Relations Committee on which Omar serves, called her comments insinuating a dual loyalty among Israel's supporters "a vile anti-Semitic slur. This episode is especially disappointing following so closely on another instance of Ms. Omar seeming to invoke an anti-Semitic stereotype. Her comments were outrageous and deeply hurtful, and I ask that she retract them, apologize, and commit to making her case on policy issues without resorting to attacks that have no place in the Foreign Affairs Committee or the House of Representatives."

U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey, D-N.Y., also asked Omar to retract the comments, saying she is "saddened that Rep. Omar continues to mischaracterize support for Israel."

Omar doubled down in response to Lowey's comments Sunday, saying, "I should not be expected to have allegiance/pledge support to a foreign country in order to serve my country in Congress or serve on committee."

"I am told everyday (sic) that I am anti-American if I am not pro-Israel," she added. "I find that to be problematic and I am not alone. I just happen to be willing to speak up on it and open myself to attacks."

That is not what is happening. Omar has made a series of generalizations, all of which echo historic anti-Semitic slurs about Jews, money and influence. "Hypnotized the world" is not a policy criticism. Dual loyalty insinuations are not ways to question the U.S.-Israel relationship. . .
House Democrats plan to vote on a resolution, perhaps Wednesday, condemning anti-Semitism, the Washington Post reports. While it does not name Omar, the resolution refers to "dangerous anti-Semitic myths . . . including that Jews control the banks, media, and the United States Government or seek world domination and that Jews are obsessed with money." It also details the historic harm created by dual loyalty smears. Politico describes it as "an unprecedented public rebuke of Omar," and "an extraordinary public admonishment from House leaders, particularly against a member of their own party."
