1. Israel 'Expresses Regret' For Downed Russian Jet, Holds Syria Responsible - Jerusalem Post

IDF Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Ronen Manelis addressed the downing of the Russian plane in Syria on Tuesday after Moscow accused Israel of a hostile provocation and threatened to respond.

"Israel expresses its regret over the death of the crew members of the Russian plane that was downed tonight due to Syrian anti-aircraft fire," read the statement released by the IDF Spokesperson's Unit.

"Israel holds the Assad regime, whose military shot down the Russian plane fully responsible for this incident. Israel also holds Iran and the Hezbollah terror organization accountable for this unfortunate incident."

2. Putin says Israel did not shoot down Russian plane, calls it a tragic accident - Times of Israel

MOSCOW - Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed Tuesday that Israel did not shoot down a Russian military reconnaisance plane with 15 people on board, saying the downing of the plane by Syrian air defenses was a "chain of tragic accidental circumstances."

"It rather looks like a chain of tragic accidental circumstances," Putin told reporters, rejecting any comparisons with the downing of a Russian jet by Turkey in 2015.

"An Israeli jet did not shoot down our plane," Putin said.

Israeli security forces shot dead two Palestinian Arabs in clashes along the Gaza border on Tuesday evening, the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza said, according to AFP.

4. Abbas says mogul Lauder floated backchannel to Netanyahu - Times of Israel

World Jewish Congress president Ronald Lauder proposed running a backchannel between Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Palestinian leader said this week, but the initiative ultimately fizzled.

Abbas told a group of former Israeli lawmakers that Lauder, who has been involved as a conduit between Netanyahu and Arab leaders for decades, floated the idea to him several months ago, according to former justice minister Yossi Beilin, who was at the meeting. Abbas said he gave Lauder, who was once close to Netanyahu and is a friend of US President Donald Trump, his commitment to participate in the channel of communication, but that nothing ever came of it, Beilin told The Times of Israel.

5. Netanyahu pushes to bring 1,000 Ethiopian immigrants to Israel- World Israel News

At a meeting on Sunday of the ministerial committee that overseas issues related to the Ethiopian-Israeli community, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to help bring to Israel a significant number of new immigrants from Ethiopia.

At the meeting, Netanyahu commented, "[A]fter consulting with MKs [David] Amsalem and [Avraham] Neguise, I am pleased to inform you that I have decided that approximately 1,000 members [of the Falash Mura community] - whose children are already here - must be brought to Israel."

Netanyahu noted that the decision follows immigration of 1,300 Falash Mura who already immigrated to Israel. The term "Falash Mura" refers to Ethiopians who claim Jewish descent but whose ancestors converted to Christianity either forcibly or voluntarily.

The Daily Brief

1. 'Viva Trump!' Friendly crowd celebrates Hispanic heritage at White House - Washington Examiner

A supportive crowd celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month at the White House on Monday, with invited attendees shouting "viva Trump!" and chanting "four more years!" "We're out there fighting for you, that I'll tell you," President Trump said during the intimate East Room event. "What a lot of spirit, but I know that about you," Trump told the enthusiastic crowd. "I know that. I know all about your spirit. You've got great spirit."

Trump boasted of low unemployment among Latinos and pledged to help Puerto Rico rebuild from last year's hurricanes, calling to the podium the territory's lieutenant governor, Luis Rivera MarĂn. "We are blessed because you're our president!" Vietnam War veteran Daniel Cortez, who sang the national anthem, shouted at Trump.

Trump appeared at ease and joked frequently. Trump highlighted prominent Hispanic members of his administration, including Labor Secretary Alex Acosta and U.S. Treasurer Jovita Carranza. Remarks emphasized unity, with Trump praising the quarter-million Hispanic Americans in the military and 1.5 million Hispanic veterans.

"We are all one people, we are all part of one great American family, and we are all in this together - saluting one flag, singing one anthem, and pledging allegiance to one nation under God," he said. (Read more)

- Father, we agree with our Hispanic brothers and sisters - "Long live (viva) Trump!" We continue to declare life and protection over President Trump, his family, all who work in his Administration and their families. Give them increasing grace to serve the people of our great nation well.

- "Now therefore, I pray You, if I have found favor in Your sight, let me know Your ways that I may know You, so that I may find favor in Your sight. Consider too, that this nation is Your people." (Exodus 33:13)

2. BREAKING!! Trump directs FBI, DOJ to declassify Russia-related documents, James Comey texts, and more - Washington Examiner

President Trump on Monday ordered the Justice Department and FBI to immediately declassify key documents related to the FBI's investigation on Russian actions during the 2016 presidential election -- including text messages from former FBI Director James Comey and other top officials.

"When the President issues such an order, it triggers a declassification review process that is conducted by various agencies within the intelligence community, in conjunction with the White House Counsel, to seek to ensure the safety of America's national security interests," a DOJ spokesperson said in a statement.

"The Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are already working with the Director of National Intelligence to comply with the President's order." (Read more)

- Father, we pray for the expeditious release of these important documents and for Your justice to reign upon our land.

- And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? (Luke 18:7)

3. Kavanaugh's accuser and the curious George Soros links - Washington Times

A report from June in the Daily Caller that found "a new political advocacy group that vowed to put $5 million behind an effort to stop . . . Kavanaugh's confirmation has significant ties to the liberal financier" George Soros.

The group, Demand Justice, established in 2018, gets its money from the Sixteen Thirty Fund - and the Sixteen Thirty Fund received roughly $2.2 million from the Open Society Policy Center, one of Soros' outlets, between the years of 2012 and 2016. And Demand Justice's entire mission is to advance a progressive agenda through the courts.

Debra Katz, the attorney representing Kavanaugh's accuser - Christine Blasey Ford - is vice chair of the Project on Government Oversight, a left-leaning organization that has been directly funded by Soros' Open Society Foundation. Katz is also a hefty Democratic donor, giving thousands of dollars over the years to Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and other leftist candidates. (Read more)

- Father, we ask for all those with evil intent and ulterior motives to be exposed. We have prayed for Your perfect will regarding this nomination, and stand in faith that You will vindicate the innocent.

- For the Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.
(Psalm 135:14)

4. Don't let Democrats recreate the Anita Hill circus for Kavanaugh - Washington Examiner

The accusation of Christine Ford, who says Kavanaugh groped or sexually assaulted her in 1982, when he was 17 and she was 15, should not be entirely dismissed, even though they are clearly part of the Democrats' cynical plan to deny President Trump his textualist nominee.

In a statement Monday, Kavanaugh said, "This is a completely false allegation. Because this never happened, I had no idea who was making this accusation until she identified herself yesterday . . . I am willing to talk to the Senate Judiciary Committee in any way the committee deems appropriate."

Questioning Ford and questioning Kavanaugh under oath could provide more certainty for senators in both parties who are willing to consider voting for confirmation in good faith. This questioning shouldn't be in public, which would recreate the shameful circus of the Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill hearings, which is what Democrats want, of course. It should be behind closed doors with no television cameras. (Read more)

- Father, we pray Senator Grassley and the Republican leadership will have wisdom as they schedule additional hearings and the final votes for this nomination.

- You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. (Exodus 20:15)

5. BREAKING!! Project Veritas Bombshell Video Exposes "Resist" Socialist Employee Inside State Department - Sara A. Carter

Investigative journalism organization, Project Veritas, released a shocking video Tuesday, which shows State Department Management and Program Analyst, Stuart Karaffa, discussing how he uses his time working for the U.S. government to further the efforts of the Democratic Socialists. According to Project Veritas, Karaffa is heavily involved in the political campaign efforts of DSA in both Washington D.C. and Virginia.

According to the Metro D.C. Democratic Socialists website, the group, believes in "a radical restructuring of our economic and political systems to value people over profits. Rather than our current economy, which is controlled by the wealthy few for their own benefit, we envision an economy that is democratically controlled by all Americans."

Karaffa told the undercover journalists that he is able to get away with his work for the DSA while employed at the State Department because someone at the agency "rubber stamps" his financial disclosure form. "On the contracting form I put all of my officer positions on it, and somebody just rubber stamps it and it goes forward. I can disclose all of my other stuff and the guy rubberstamping it is just kinda like ehh, I don't know if he's all there. He's so checked out and he's looking at this stuff like yeah whatever, just boom, go."

The footage of Karaffa ends with the State Department employee saying, "resist everything -- every level." Project Veritas founder, James O'Keefe, says his organization has been investigating the Deep State for over a year, and claims his undercover cameras have caught "conspirators admitting to violating their ethics reports, illegally using government resources and subverting government policies." According to their press release, Project Veritas will release other videos of their investigation into the Deep State. (Read more)

- Father, we pray each and every federal employee who is abusing their position and power will be removed.

- Remove wicked officials from the king's presence, and his throne will be established through righteousness. (Proverbs 25:5)

6. Senate approves $854B spending bill - The Hill

Senators on Tuesday voted 93-7 to pass a sweeping $854 billion spending bill that includes funding for the Departments of Defense, Health and Human Services (HHS), Labor and Education, which make up the lion's share of total government spending.

Passage of the sweeping package of defense and domestic spending marks a significant victory for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) who has dedicated weeks of floor time to government funding and avoiding another catch-all omnibus bill less than two months before the midterm election, where control of Congress hangs in the balance.

The House is out this week but expected to take up the funding legislation next week, ahead of the Sept. 30 deadline to keep the government funded. Congress already sent an initial spending bill to President Trump's desk that funded military construction and veterans' affairs, the legislative branch and energy and water. If Trump signs both bills before the end of the month that would allow lawmakers to get 5 out of the 12 individual appropriations bills to his desk before the end of the 2018 fiscal year.

The two chambers are working on a third package of four bills they hope to send to the president as well, but differences remain between the House and Senate. Those bills include Agriculture, Interior, Financial Services and Transportation funding measures. A continuing resolution (CR) in the bill extends funding for all other agencies through Dec. 7, after the midterm elections. (Read more)

- Father, we pray these reforms to improve the funding process will remain through subsequent Congresses, leading to reductions in spending and debt.

- Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold Is a wise rebuker to an obedient ear. (Proverbs 25:12)

7. Trump Rolls Back Anti-Franchising Regs - Free Beacon

Franchise businesses received a significant boost from the Trump administration on Friday as labor regulators began to unravel one of the Obama administration's most controversial employment policies. Industry groups praised the Trump board for using rulemaking to reassert the old joint-employer standard. The International Franchise Association called the proposal "good news" for workers and employers alike, saying it would clarify hiring and workplace policies.

Sen. Lamar Alexander (R., Tenn.), chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, also welcomed the new rule. He said the Obama era interpretation threatened the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of workers and small business owners, as increased liability could lead parent companies to assert central control of local franchises. Alexander sponsored legislation designed to reassert the old standard, but those bills never came to a floor vote.

"The Obama administration's expansion of the 'joint employer' standard threatened to destroy the American Dream for owners of a franchise business," he said in a statement. "The NLRB's new proposed rule would return to the earlier joint employer standard and restore a path to the middle class for small businessmen and women across the country. This is good news for all Americans who value the opportunity to work hard and climb the ladder of success."

The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on Friday, beginning a 60-day public comment period in which labor attorneys, employers, unions, and other interested parties can submit recommendations about the policy. (Read more)

- Father, we pray these policy changes will invigorate franchise businesses, allowing them to grow and expand.

- When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. (Proverbs 29:2)

8. US Lowers Number of Refugees to 30,000 for Next Year - CBN News

The Trump administration is cutting the number of refugees allowed into the United States next year to 30,000. The announcement comes despite calls from global humanitarian groups that this year's cap of 45,000 was too low.

The 30,000 ceiling announced Monday by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is the maximum the U.S. will admit during the fiscal year that starts Oct. 1. The actual number allowed could be lower. The U.S. welcomed nearly 85,000 refugees in the final year of the Obama administration. The lower admittance numbers reflect the Trump administration's opposition to accepting refugees and other immigrants into the U.S. That approach has already driven down refugee admissions to their lowest level in a decade. (Read more)

- Father, we thank You for this reduction in refugees and pray our government will implement rational immigration policies.

- But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
(Psalm 5:11)

9. Steve Scalise warns Canada to deal on trade or get left behind - Washington Examiner

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., warned Canada Tuesday that the Republican leadership will not wait much longer before it pushes forward with consideration of President Trump's trade deal with Mexico. Many in Congress have been wary of voting on the deal if it doesn't have Canada's approval because it rewrites sections of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Under Trade Promotion Authority, the law governing submitting trade deals to Congress for approval, the White House must give Congress 90 days notice before it signs a deal. The U.S.-Mexican deal was submitted to Congress on Aug. 31. The White House is under pressure to get it signed before Dec. 1, the end of the term of current Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, who negotiated the deal. It is unclear if Mexico's president-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, a leftist, would support it.

U.S. and Canadian negotiators have been meeting in Washington over the last three weeks in an attempt to reach an agreement, but have not produced a breakthrough. Scalise said that the GOP leadership's patience had a limit. "While we would all like to see Canada remain part of this three-country coalition, there is not an unlimited amount of time for it to be part of this new agreement. Congress takes seriously and intends to fully enforce the deadlines established in the Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities and Accountability Act," Scalise said. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for a final trade agreement with Canada to quickly come to fruition.

- "Come now, and let us reason together," (Isaiah 1:18a)

10. Donald Trump threatens to slap tariffs on virtually all Chinese goods - more than US $500 billion - after Beijing fights back - South China Morning Post

US President Donald Trump is poised to levy punitive tariffs on all Chinese imports, following China's announcement on Tuesday that Beijing will respond to Washington's latest escalation of the trade war by imposing duties on US$60 billion of US imports. Trump took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to say that any further action by China targeting US farmers and industrial workers would result in "great and fast economic retaliation" from the US. The president had warned in a statement on Monday evening that such action would take the form of tariffs on the remaining US$267 billion of Chinese imports, further expanding the already unprecedented scope of the trade war.

A Chinese government source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were unauthorised to speak publicly, told the South China Morning Post that Beijing was now reviewing its plans to send a delegation led by Vice-Premier Liu He to Washington for talks with US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.

Doubling down on his rhetoric against China's trade practices during a joint press conference with Polish president Andrzej Duda on Tuesday afternoon, Trump called the US "the piggy bank to the world" and said that the country was being ripped off by everyone, including China and the European Union. Trump also accused the country of taking advantage of the rules of the WTO, following its admission into the organization in 2001. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for protection over our farms, industries and workers as we work out a new trading relationship with China. Bring them to the table and cause them to be agreeable to our terms.

- Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? (Amos 3:3)

Of Hate and Violence

Leftist resistance leader Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) was honored Friday night by the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) with their National Leadership Award. The platform gave Waters yet another opportunity to call for violence against President Donald Trump. She said in accepting the award, "There are those who say, 'What if we get rid of him? Then we've got that Vice President and he'll be worse.' I say knock off the first one and then go after the second one.'" The leftists are those who are constantly before the media expressing their fears that Trump supporters, which they generally believe to be Nazis, will commit violence against them for their beliefs. Yet the opposite is true.

Waters and others have consistently used their speech to incite violence against supporters of the President. Waters has called for the harassment of Trump supporters and Administration officials at gas stations, restaurants and even at their homes. This type of rhetoric has been a hallmark of the so-called "resistance movement" since before Trump took office. Antifa and other leftist radical groups have committed violence against Trump supporters. Celebrities have called for the assassination of Trump. Trump supporters have been labeled racists, bigots, homophobes, Islamophobes, misogynists, xenophobes and just about every other hateful descriptor.

Democratic Presidential hopeful, and former Vice President, Joe Biden told the annual dinner of the Human Rights Campaign, a radical gay rights organization, that Trump supporters were "virulent people, some of them the dregs of society." Remember in September 2016, Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said, "You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump's supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic - you name it. Now some of those folks, they are irredeemable, but thankfully they are not America." These types of remarks are doing exactly what they are designed to do-cause violence, by the followers of those who are raising the fear of violence against themselves.

Breitbart News' John Nolte has documented 567 acts of violence and threats of violence against perceived Trump supporters since September 2015. Many of them called for the assassination of Trump and/or his supporters, others included vandalized property, physical assaults, bomb threats, pepper spray, handgun assaults, threats of mass shootings and more. Yet these are the people expressing fear that Trump supporters are violent, dregs of society. If there were acts like these against liberals, believe me, you would hear about it repeatedly. Like in so many cases, the narrative is untrue. As Peter warned in 1 Peter 5:8, "Be sober, be vigilant: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour." Let us stand and speak boldly the truth against this vitriol. Your adversary, the devil is behind it.

EQUINOX CRACKS ARE OPENING IN EARTH'S MAGNETIC FIELD

The northern autumnal equinox is less than a week away. That means one thing: Cracks are opening in Earth's magnetic field. Researchers have long known that during weeks around equinoxes fissures form in Earth's magnetosphere. Solar wind pours through the gaps to fuel bright displays of Northern Lights. It happened just last night in Rovaniemi, Finland.

"The auroras were totally awesome," says photographer Alexander Kuznetsov. "We weren't expecting a huge storm, yet this was the best display of the new season."

This is called the "Russell-McPherron effect," named after the researchers who first explained it. The cracks are opened by the solar wind itself. South-pointing magnetic fields inside the solar wind oppose Earth's north-pointing magnetic field. North and South partially cancel one another, opening a crack. This cancellation can happen at any time of year, but it happens with greatest effect around the equinoxes. Indeed, a 75-year study shows that September is one of the most geomagnetically active months of the year-a direct result of "equinox cracks."
NASA and European spacecraft have been detecting these cracks for years. Small ones are about the size of California, and many are wider than the entire planet. There's no danger to people on Earth. Our planet's atmosphere intercepts the rush of incoming particles with no harm done and a beautiful afterglow. (Spaceweather.com) Read more
