The Daily Brief

1. Gadhafi regime missiles missing - USA Today

Inspectors searching for shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles amassed by Moammar Gadhafi and prized by terrorists can't account for potentially thousands of them. Gadhafi's regime stockpiled about 20,000 portable missiles during his four decades in power. Inspectors have accounted for about 5,000 of the portable missiles and components. The United States ....has committed $40 million in an effort to secure weapon stockpiles. "The frank answer is we don't know and probably never will," said Andrew Shapiro, an assistant secretary of State.

- Reveal the locations of these missing weapons, Lord. May they be removed from the hands of enemies, and never used to destroy Your people. We pray that against all odds, Christians may rise to positions of leadership in Libya, and overthrow those of evil intent with godliness. Just as Libyans heard in their own tongues the wonderful works of God on the day of Pentecost, may You be glorified in Libya through Jesus' holy Name!

-"The Lord Your God is with you, He is mighty to save."
Zephaniah 3:17 " "...the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs - we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God!" (Acts 2:10,11)

2. Water temperature rising in No. 2 reactor at Fukushima nuclear plant - Japan Today

Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) said Monday that the water temperature in the No. 2 reactor at the stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant has risen from 45 degrees on Jan 27 to 69.2 degrees on Monday. TEPCO said it was injecting 9.5 tons of water into the reactor, compared to the usual one ton per hour. The latest development calls into question Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda's announcement last December that the Fukushima Daiichi plant had achieved a stable state of cold shutdown-which was intended to reassure the nation that significant progress had been made in the nine months since the March 11 tsunami sent three reactors into meltdowns.

- We pray for Japan in these troubled days O Lord, and ask that You draw them to faith in You. We pray that the seeds of the Gospel planted by the Billy Graham Crusade just prior to the tsunami, spring up and bear much fruit. Strengthen the missionaries in Japan to stand for Christ in this crisis and lead many souls to salvation. Give wisdom and protection to those who are struggling to contain and to correct the grave dangers of this reactor. May these circumstances result in bringing glory to You, in Jesus' Name.

- "God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the Truth." (1 Timothy 2: 3,4)

3. Drones over U.S. get OK by Congress - Washington Times

Look! Up in the sky! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It's ... a drone, and it's watching you. That's what privacy advocates fear from a bill Congress passed this week to make it easier for the government to fly unmanned spy planes in U.S. airspace. The agency projects that 30,000 drones could be in the nation's skies by 2020. Representatives of the fast-growing unmanned aircraft systems industry say they worked hard to get the provisions into law.

- Dear Lord, as the FAA receives new responsibilities to govern the use of drones over the skies of America, give wisdom! May these remotely operated drones be used in varieties of helpful ways - along our borders, in weather emergencies. Reveal any intentions for sinister uses before they are accomplished. We ask this in Jesus' Name.

- "I AM with you, and I will watch over you wherever you go."
(Genesis 28:15)

4. Marines 'assault' US beaches in amphibious drill - AFP

With beach landings, 25 naval ships and an air assault, the United States and eight other countries are staging a major amphibious exercise on the US East Coast this week, fighting a fictional enemy that bears more than a passing resemblance to Iran. About 20,000 US forces, plus hundreds of British, Dutch and French troops as well as liaison officers from Italy, Spain, New Zealand and Australia are taking part in the exercise along the Atlantic coast off Virginia and North Carolina.

- Lord God, we lift up our military to You, asking for divine wisdom and protection in all their endeavors. We pray for godly military leadership that receives direction from You. We pray that every directive that has sought to keep Your Word and Your Name from being spoken among our military - be revoked! Permanently! Send a mighty move of Your holy Spirit among our nation's military that will break through the power of the enemy on every front, in Jesus mighty name!

- "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." (Proverbs 14:34)

5. Santorum rebounds in primary, caucuses - Washington Times

Rick Santorum clobbered Mitt Romney in a head-to-head match-up in Missouri's non-binding primary Tuesday, easily won Minnesota's caucuses and was poised for a strong showing in Colorado's caucuses on a night that once again rewrote the story of the Republican presidential nomination battle.

- Lord, we look beyond all the hype and the headlines, beyond all the ups and the downs of campaigns - to You! It is incumbent upon us to make continual prayer to You for the soon coming critical elections - for You are our King. We cry to You, Lord, to sort out the candidates, and to raise up those who love and serve You best. May America's leaders publicly and privately revere Your Name, empowered by You to reverse the intense damages accomplished by the ungodly. We proclaim You as Lord over America, in Jesus' Name!

- " Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always." (Psalm 105:4) "I AM the Alpha and Omega," says the Lord, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the ALMIGHTY." (Revelation 1: 8)

[Note: We now have a 3-week break until the next primary elections take place in Arizona and Michigan. CHPP continues to ask prayer, as shown above, over the entire primary process. In the meantime, for specific prayer guides for the primaries in each state throughout this election year, please visit the website for the U.S. Reformation Prayer Network at: www.usrpn.org.]

6. Washington state approves gay marriage - Fox News

Washington state lawmakers voted to approve gay marriage Wednesday, setting the stage for the state to become the seventh in the nation to allow same-sex couples to wed. The Washington House passed the bill on a 55-43 vote. The state Senate approved the measure last week. And Democratic Gov. Chris Gregoire is expected to sign the measure into law next week.

However, gay couples can't begin walking down the aisle just yet.

The proposal would take effect 90 days after the governor signs, but opponents have promised to fight gay marriage with a ballot measure that would allow voters to overturn the legislative approval.

If opponents gather enough signatures to take their fight to the ballot box, the law would be put on hold pending the outcome of a November election.

Otherwise gay couples could wed starting in June. Read more http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/02/08/washington-state-poised-to-approve-gay-marriage/#ixzz1lqHWpVwu

- O Lord, in the power-filled Name of Jesus Christ we come against every force that moves to promote what God has named perverse. (Romans 1:28) We pray that what God reveres, will be what is honored and promoted in this nation. Strengthen every single pro-family citizen to join together in Your wisdom as a formidable, overcoming force against the lie of "gay marriage." May America's people be consecrated to You!

Lift up the citizens of the State of Washington as they seek to overrule this pending law. Let God ARISE in the State of Washington, and may hundreds of thousands of signatures appear on the ballot measure cited. Praise God that there is still a "space of grace" in the State of Washington whereby this wicked law might be overturned. Pray!

- "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. " (1 Peter 2:9) - "But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound . . ." (Romans 5:20) - "Let GOD arise and let His enemies be scattered!" (Psalm 68:1)

1. New US sanctions on Iran aim to head off Israel - Fox News

Additional U.S. sanctions on Iran are more significant for their timing than their immediate effect on Iran's economy, coming as the United States and its allies are arguing that Israel should hold off on any military strike on Iranian nuclear facilities to allow more time for sanctions to work.

The Daily Jot

Name above all names--getting it right

. . . There is only one true God and one true Jesus Christ, no matter what man tries to make of them, no matter how many traditions have developed over the millennia, irrespective of what the "scholars" think and argue. Speaking of Jesus Christ, Philippians 2:9 says, "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name."

From the common sense perspective of this farm boy, if there is only one of something, it has a unique name that really needs no translation into a different language. For example, a Rembrandt is a Rembrandt in every language. The name should remain the same across all of the languages and an explanation should be given about what or who the name is. If you are a translator, you are most likely cringing at this suggestion. If you are a lover of a certain translation of the Bible, for example, King James, you think it is good enough. If you forward the Jot to others, you may think that using Hebrew names for God and Jesus Christ is confusing, but quite frankly, there is only them, and perhaps it's a long time coming, but we all ought to know their names.

In the Hebrew, God is YHVH. His name is so sacred that the ancient Jews would not pronounce it. If they spoke the name of God, they would say simply Ha Shem, meaning "The Name." When reading the Tanakh, YHVH is referred to as Adonai, meaning "My Lord." In Exodus 15:2, Moses and the children of Israel in the earliest known song, sang: "Yah is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation." King David used Yah as the name of God in some 17 Psalms. Psalm 150:6, "Let every thing that has breath praise Yah! Praise Yah!" Isaiah 38:17 originally says, "I won't see Yah, Yah in the land of the living..." Most translations, including King James, replaced "Yah" with "LORD." Confused yet?

Every journalistic organization has a stylebook that standardizes how certain words will be used in certain contexts. Generally, The Daily Jot follows the AP Stylebook best it can. Knowing the truth about the name of God and his son Jesus Christ, The Daily Jot would be remiss if it did not use the correct name for the name above all names. To that end, The Daily Jot will standardize on Yah for the one true God and Yeshua, Yeshua Mashiach or Yeshua Ha Mashiach (depending on the context) for the one true Jesus Christ. When you forward the Jot use it as a teaching moment if someone asks.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

FRC Webcast: Church v. State

FRC Action to Host Live Webcast on Health Care Mandate and How It Violates the Separation of Church and State

February 07, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. - On Thursday at 8 p.m. Eastern, Family Research Council Action (FRC Action) will host a live video webcast entitled "Healthcare Mandate: Violating the Separation of Church and State." The webcast will focus on the Obama administration's mandate that, beginning next year, will force any organization - including religious institutions - that offers health insurance to employees to cover contraception, sterilizations and abortifacients, regardless of conscientious objections.

FRC Action President Tony Perkins will be joined by some of those impacted by the mandate as well as Members of Congress and policy experts who will discuss what must be done to stop it. The live webcast event will be held at FRC headquarters in Washington, D.C. It will begin at 8 p.m. EST.

Of the event Perkins said:

"This is an anti-religious, anti-conscience and anti-life mandate that must be reversed. President Obama's mandate takes away the right of Americans to live out their faith according to their religious beliefs.

"FRC Action is honored to partner with dozens of Evangelical and Catholic groups, who see this oppressive mandate for what it is: naked aggression against America's first and most fundamental freedom.

"As the White House well knows, most of these charities would rather close their doors than meet these requirements. However, we are now witnessing an unprecedented ecumenical movement to put a stop to this administration's drive to push Christians out of the public square," concluded Perkins.

"Attack on the U.S. Army"

"ATTACK ON THE U.S. ARMY"

By Major General Jerry Curry; U.S. Army, Retired

It seems the United States Army will be reverting to the condition it is usually in when a Democrat is President and Commander-in-Chief. I remember those days well. Back then the Army didn't have enough repair parts to keep its motor vehicles running and its helicopters flying so combat units were instructed to selectively cannibalize non-running vehicles and helicopters to keep as much of the fleet operational as possible.

Then the budget couldn't sustain the military force at its authorized strength levels so there was a chronic shortage of experienced leadership at the middle and lower unit levels. Captains were doing the jobs that majors and lieutenant colonels were supposed to do. Sergeants were filling in for lieutenants. Lieutenants were filling in for captains and majors. The soldiers used to say that if the available manpower pool was rotated fast enough, it would give the appearance that there were sufficient people assigned to the units to make them look combat ready.

It is criminal! Let me say that again, it is criminal to send our young men and women back for their third, fourth, fifth, sixth or seventh tour of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq -- even if they volunteer to go back for another combat tour. It is the same as signing their death certificates. Somewhere between the third and seventh tour the odds are that for many their luck will run out and they will return in a body bag.

Why does the Commander-in-Chief send the flower of American youth back for so many dangerously repetitive combat tours? Because there aren't enough soldiers on active duty. Why? Because the current Army budget is too small and won't sustain maintaining an adequate combat force so that units can be rotated on a reasonable, lifesaving basis. Still Congress and the White House want to reduce the military budget even further. And yes, there is waste in the military budget that needs to be eliminated.

. . . The Army Chief of Staff, General Odierno, said recently that because the Army's budget is being cut drastically, the reserve forces will have to be enlarged and kept at a much higher level of readiness than they historically have been. This is nonsense! Over and over history has recorded the sad results of adopting such a policy. It's time we learned our lesson -- when the budget goes down, readiness goes down! There are no exceptions.

History tells us that when available funds dry up and bases are closed overseas and troops are returned back to the United States, they are not reassigned to U.S. military bases. They are discharged from the Army and other branches of the armed forces and their units disbanded, which further reduces the military's size and power, which seems to have been the purpose of this Administration from the beginning.

Our soldiers deserve better. They deserve to serve in well trained units that are up to full strength. Their equipment should technologically be the latest and be supported by an abundance of repair parts and maintenance personnel. And they deserve to have their lives treasured and protected, and to have the full financial support of the Congress and the White House.

- We wish to thank General Curry for this powerful statement, and we encourage all of you to read this article in its entirety by going here now.

The pattern of this administration, to weaken our military strength and thereby to endanger our soldiers, is made clear in this essay. Pray that the president and all who make decisions with him regarding the military's budget would have a change of heart and reverse course. Pray for a miracle. Pray!

- "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."
(Ezek. 36:26)

Focus on Iran

Iran Preparing A Second Holocaust

More than 70 years ago, the world made a tragic mistake and tens of millions died as a result. World leaders at the time largely ignored the growing scourge of anti-Semitism and naively assumed they could negotiate with a madman. Desperate for peace in their time, they traded a country for a meaningless "scrap of paper" and got a world war and the Holocaust instead of peace. Today, as Barack Obama attempts to negotiate with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Islamic Republic is promising a second Holocaust.

In a speech broadcast last week on state-run TV, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei referred to Israel as a "cancerous tumor that should be cut and will be cut." Khamenei also bragged about Iran's support for Hezbollah and promised to support "any nation or any group [that] confronts the Zionist regime . . . We have no fear expressing this."

At the same time Khamenei was delivering his anti-Semitic diatribe, an article was published by Alireza Forghani, the former governor of Iran's Kish Province, outlining the religious justifications as well as practicality of annihilating Israel. It could have been easily dismissed except for the fact that it was widely distributed by news agencies close to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, which is controlled by Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. In other words, the content calling for genocide likely has the ayatollah's seal of approval.

And just as disturbing is the level of detail in the article. Consider this excerpt:
"Residents of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and H[a]ifa can be targeted even by Shah[a]b 3 [missiles]. Population density in these three adjacent areas composes about 60% of [the total] Israeli population. Sejjil missiles can target power plants, sewage treatment facilities, energy resources, [and] transportation and [communication] infrastructures; and in the second stage, Shahab 3, Ghadr, and Ashura missiles can target urban settlements until [the] final annihilation of Israel['s] people."

While the West dithers, Iran is preparing for war and brainwashing its people to accept genocide, just as Hitler did in the 1930s. And never forget that the ultimate goal of the radical Islamists is not the annihilation of Israel, but the destruction of the "Great Satan" -- America. (Gary Bauer, End-of-Day, 2/8/12)

Update: Occupy Wall Street

Radicals To Occupy Conservative Political Action Conference

Once again the radical left is showing its disdain for free speech by trying to intimidate and silence its political opponents. The Occupy Wall Street movement and its Big Labor allies are plotting to disrupt this week's CPAC conference, promising to make it "a conference the attendees will never forget."

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) is one of the largest annual gatherings of conservative activists and policy makers in the country. Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney, and Newt Gingrich will be there. Sarah Palin is delivering the keynote address this year. Here's how the Occupy DC website describes this conference:

". . . this event is another gathering of bigots, media mouthpieces, corrupt politicians, and their 1 percent elite puppet masters. CPAC will parade and attempt to perpetuate the radical right wing's imperialist ideologies with keynote speakers, movies and banquets dedicated to pursuing its racist, sexist, patriarchal and exploitative agenda.

"Spectacles will include imperialist topics such as 'From Fidel to Chavez: How Do We Stop the Resurgence of Socialism in Latin America?', 'Is the Arab Spring Good or Bad for America?' and frequent bloviation on 'American exceptionalism.' Openly racist discourses will be given on 'The Failure of Multiculturalism . . .'"

Bigots. Corrupt. Imperialist. Racist. Sexist. Exploitative. That is what the left thinks about you! And yet the media blames us for the breakdown in public discourse. And did you catch the disdain for the idea of American exceptionalism? The left doesn't believe that America is or was ever a "shining city upon a hill." It thinks we are the evil empire.

I hope the CPAC organizers, hotel staff and Washington, D.C., police are prepared for these thugs. Late last year, hundreds of occupiers stormed a conservative event at the Washington convention center. They disrupted traffic, assaulted elderly women and used their own children as human shields. These radicals are violent. They have no respect for the rule of law or their fellow citizens. (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day; 2/8/12)

Catholic Bishop: Hitler And Mussolini 'Would Love Our Public School System'

CNSNews.com) - The Catholic bishop of Harrisburg, Pa., has apologized for offending anyone with his recent comments that Hitler and Mussolini "would love" the public school system in Pennsylvania, because it is similar to what they sought to create in their totalitarian states.
But in a statement issued by the diocese of Harrisburg, Bishop Joseph McFadden did not retract comments he made during an interview on Jan. 24 with WHTM-TV, the ABC affiliate in Harrisburg.

The bishop made a comparison between the interests of the public school system and totalitarianism, while discussing what he sees as a lack of school choice in Pennsylvania.

"In the totalitarian government, they would love our system," McFadden said. "This is what Hitler and Mussolini and all them tried to establish -- a monolith; so all the children would be educated in one set of beliefs and one way of doing things." (Read more)

The Good News Corner:

A Good Report from CHPP!

Dear Friends,

Our GOOD NEWS for tonight is that we have now closed the books on 2011 and . . . God's people -- YOU -- have been very, very faithful in your giving to our work!

PRAISE THE LORD!

This month, we celebrate the 18th anniversary since the founding of Capitol Hill Prayer Partners, on February 24, 1994.

Because of friends like you, and because of the amazing obedience and faithfulness of our core team of intercessors who stand watch daily on Capitol Hill, we have been able to stand, nonstop, for all of our eighteen years! What a blessing it has been to be able to pray for "all in authority" and to quietly call forth His praises in the gates of our city . . .

And later that same year (July, 1994), we published our first edition of "the OCAP" -- On Capitol Hill This Week -- for the use of our on-site prayer teams. Originally designed as a prayer guide for us, only, it soon became apparent that our Lord desired that others, too, would be "reading our mail!"

And so, the OCAP was born . . . all of one page long in its first printing!

And over the years, our prayer network has grown, slowly but surely, by "friends telling friends" we are here. So, now you, too, are a part of our team. . .

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF THIS MINISTRY, IN PRAYER AND IN GIVING!! Even in these difficult economic times, you have not stopped helping us and, without you, we would not be here!

TONIGHT WE SALUTE EACH ONE OF YOU -- ALL 3551 STRONG -- AND WE SAY PRAISE THE LORD FOR THE BLESSING AND THE PRIVILEGE OF SERVING OUR KING OF KINGS ON CAPITOL HILL THESE PAST 18 YEARS . . . BECAUSE, BY THE GRACE OF GOD, YOU MADE IT HAPPEN!

"To GOD be the Glory! Great things He hath done!"

In His Amazing Grace,
