The Daily Brief - Monday, February 20, 2012

"And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come."
(Matthew 24:14)

The Daily Brief

1. House GOP to Obama: Nuke cut is 'dangerous'
- The Washington Free Beacon

President Obamaa's plan for the Pentagon to cut deployed strategic nuclear warheads by 80 percent is meeting harsh resistance from House Armed Services Committee Republicans on Capitol Hill who called the Plan "dangerous." In a letter to the president sent Thursday, a group of 35 House members expressed deep concerns about a National Security Council directed plan to reduce strategic warheads to as few as 300 weapons.

"At a time when every other nuclear weapons state has an active nuclear weapons modernization program and many are growing their stockpiles and capabilities, it is inconceivable to us that you would lead the United States down such a dangerous plan," the lawmakers stated.

- Father, we ask that You cause wisdom to be heard in our Congressional bodies. We come against the plans of the enemy to pull down the United States of America to a place of vulnerability to military attack. We ask that those proposing this plan would hear the outcry of the nation in this matter.

- "Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets; she crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words,"
(Proverbs 1:20-21)

2. Putin to pump $770 billion into Russian military - AP

Russia needs to modernize its military arsenals to deter others from grabbing its resources, Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said in an article published Monday. Putin said the government plans to spend about $770 billion on defense over the next decade. Read more.

- Forgive us for our harsh words but, given Russia's sudden move to INCREASE its military strength, it seems particularly foolish for the Obama administration to move our country in the opposite direction! May God have mercy upon us, and may He restore sanity back into the minds of our leaders in all matters related to our national defense. Pray!

- "At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever. His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation."
(Daniel 4:34)

3. Geithner to Ryun: "We have no plan, but we don"t like yours!" - The Blaze

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan that although the Obama administration doesn't have a "definitive solution" to the debt crisis, "we don't like yours. . . We have millions of Americans retiring every day, and that will drive substantially the rate of growth of health care costs. You are right to say we're not coming before you today to say we have a definitive solution to that long-term problem. What we do know is, we don't like yours," Geithner said.

- Dear Lord, we ask that irresponsible men in our government would be held accountable and not be given a pass as has been done recently. Father, we pray for deliverance from government officials who are arrogant and do not care for those they govern. Lord, may another take their office.

- "The good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep."
(John 10:11b)

4. British PM pushes to privatize health care - The Daily Caller

British Prime Minister David Cameron is working to partially privatize the National Health Service, beginning a massive outsourcing of medical services to private health care providers throughout the U.K.

- Heavenly Father, we are encouraged that the UK is acting with wisdom concerning their healthcare. They have seen the dangers in socialism and have changed course. Father, we pray for our deceived leaders to alter the course they are on now and release control in this area. We seek restoration of freedom in this and all areas hurt by socialism.

- "And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city."
(Isaiah 1:26)

5. Santorum says Obama agenda not "based on Bible" - Reuters

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum challenged Obama's Christian beliefs on Saturday, saying White House policies were motivated by a "different theology."

- We praise God that Rick Santorum is calling a spade a spade, and drawing a line the sand between a false gospel and the true. Other candidates, too, have pointed in this direction. Praise God!

- "Later, when Peter came to Antioch, I had a face-to-face confrontation with him because he was clearly out of line. . . Unfortunately, the rest of the Jews in the Antioch church joined in that hypocrisy so that even Barnabas was swept along in the charade." (Galatians 2:11-13, in part. The Message) [Please study this chapter for further understanding in the fullness of Messiah.]

6. Md. House passes same-sex marriage bill
- Baltimore Sun

A bill that would legalize same-sex marriage squeaked through the House of Delegates on Friday night with just one vote above the minimum needed for passage, putting Maryland on the cusp of becoming the eighth state to allow such unions.

- Father, tonight we want to honor the thousands of believers in the State of Maryland who have led the charge AGAINST the passage of this bill. We thank You that You have heard their prayers, and that in time, You will answer. There are more plans yet ahead to see this bill come to nought, including placing this matter to a vote for all the citizens of Maryland to decide. Thank You, Father. This is not over yet!

- "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
(Galatians 6:9)

9. Report: Iran poised to greatly expand uranium enrichment production
- Fox News

Iran is poised to greatly expand uranium enrichment at a fortified underground bunker to a point that would boost how quickly it could make nuclear warheads, diplomats tell The Associated Press.

- Father, we know not how to pray, so we turn to you. We cry out for Your Hand of protection to be revealed unto the nations, that You might get Yourself Glory. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

- "We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you." (2 Chronicles 20:12)

10. Iran stops oil sales to British and French firms - Reuters

Iran has stopped selling crude to British and French companies, the oil ministry said on Sunday, in a retaliatory measure against fresh EU sanctions on the Islamic state's lifeblood, oil.

- Bind the spirit of python that is behind this move, even as we forgive our enemies, for they know not what they do. Amen.

- "Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven." (Matthew 18:19)

11. U.S. concerned that Barak is pushing for Israeli attack on Iran - Ha'aretz

Visits to Jerusalem by senior U.S. officials this week reflect a growing concern in Washington over the possibility that Israel will decide to attack nuclear sites in Iran. The Americans are particularly worried about the hawkish line that Defense Minister Ehud Barak has adopted on the matter. They apparently have the impression, however, that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has yet to come to a final stance on the dispute.

- Other news sources have reported that both the U.S. and the U.K. are working to dissuade the Israelis from attacking Iran. Ask the Lord to please forgive our leaders for interfering in the business of another sovereign nation; and ask Him to embolden P.M. Benjamin Netanyahu to do whatever it takes to protect his own people. In Jesus' Name, amen.

- "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."
(Luke 23:34)

2. Netanyahu's border proposal: Israel to annex settlement blocs, but not Jordan Valley

The proposal that came up during the Israeli-Palestinian talks in Amman effectively means a withdrawal from 90% of the West Bank, and is very similar to the one proposed by Tzipi Livni during the 2008 Annapolis Conference.

The Daily Jot

2012--Is the World on the Prophetic Brink?

Turkey is showing its radical Islamic roots by saying that it would prevent NATO from sharing important military information with Israel. Iran announced it has stopped oil sales to Britain and France. Saudi Arabia said publicly that it would do its best to make up the difference. Reports, however, to the Joint Organizations Data Initiative, the official source for oil production, indicate that Saudi Arabia actually cut oil production in December. Russia is still arming Syria. And Iran's warships have docked in Syria. By all indicators, the stage is set for an Islamic inspired war, fueled by Russia, targeted at Israel, and catalyzed by White House support of Islamic democracy in the Middle East. Are we on the prophetic brink?

Another prophecy is directly aimed at Damascus, Syria. Isaiah 17:1 says, "Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap." Some believe, such as Bible Scholar Joel Richardson, that Mecca/Saudi Arabia, is the Great Mystery Babylon characterized in Revelation 17--as it is in a wilderness (the desert), is drunk on the blood of the saints (Islam kills Christians worldwide), the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her and have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication (every current leader of a major nation has bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, and the world is addicted to her oil). In the context of current events, this interpretation appears likely.

Is the world, therefore, on the prophetic brink? It is very close, however, there are many events that must happen before the Messiah returns on that fateful day. The rise of the antichrist, a peace treaty with Israel, wars and rumors of wars, insurmountable inflation, pestilences and famines. Things are going to get much worse. Yeshua (Jesus) said in Matthew 24:33, "...when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors." There will be death, malaise and destruction as people are caught in the crossfire of these events prior to the return of the Messiah. People can rage against this all they want, but in the end, the eternal position of every human soul hangs in the balance. Where is yours?

Have A Blessed And Powerful Day,
