The Daily Brief - Friday, December 9, 2011

"It is time for You to act, O LORD, For they have regarded Your law as void." (Psalm 119:126)

The Daily Brief

1. Dozens arrested in Occupy D.C. protests - Washington Post

More than 70 people were arrested Wednesday during a chaotic and often tense day of protests in downtown Washington as members of the Occupy movement blocked intersections and snarled traffic along K Street for hours.

(b) Police clear out Occupy New Orleans camp - Fox News

Scores of police officers marched into an encampment of protesters and homeless people across from City Hall before dawn Tuesday, forcing the dozens of occupants out and removing tents in a peaceful eviction that drew loud, sometimes raucous complaints but did not result in violence.

(c) Occupy SF regroups after raid, clashes with cops
- SF Chronicle

Occupy San Francisco demonstrators clashed with police Wednesday night after they returned to Justin Herman Plaza following the clearing of their encampment by police in an early morning raid.

- Father, we come against a spirit of anarchy, and lawlessness in this nation. We bind the evil forces that would cause dissatisfaction, resentment, and class-warfare. We thank you for the right of free speech given to us in our Constitution, and we ask that those who exercise that right, would do so without violence. We pray for peace and sanity in these demonstrations, by both sides. We ask, Lord, that these protesters would begin to consider how they can be a constructive part of the solution, and not just draw attention to themselves through violence. Please give the civil authorities wisdom and discernment as they deal with this whole situation, and we ask for peace and resolution. Amen.

- "And the love of the great body of people will grow cold because of the multiplied lawlessness and iniquity,But he who endures to the end will be saved." (Matthew 24:12,13)

2. 2011 saw record number of high-cost weather disasters - LA Times

The United States had a dozen weather disasters that each caused at least $1 billion in damages in 2011, the greatest frequency of severe weather that caused costly losses in more than 30 years of federal government tracking.

- Abba, we recognize the "signs of the times" in the increased incidents of disasters . . .weatherwise, and otherwise. Surely the whole earth is, indeed, groaning and travailing, awaiting Your return. Tiny Oklahoma, that seldom has earthquakes, is now experiencing them on a daily basis. We ask, Lord, that people will recognize these signs in the heavens (lunar eclipse of a blood red moon tomorrow), and the earth, and the sea, and under the sea (eruptions and tsunamis); as well as the global wars and rumors of wars and terrorism occurring now, as signs of the imminent coming of the "end of the age" and Your return. We pray that rather than become fearful, that the people will turn to You, and give their hearts and lives to You, and to know You as their Savior and King. In Yeshua's Name, we pray, Amen.

- "And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not frightened or troubled, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in place after place; All this is but the beginning of the birth pangs."
(Matt, 24:6-8)

3. School Yanks Carols Featuring Santa, God & Christmas
- Fox News

A New Jersey high school admits that it "inadvertently" censored Christmas songs that include the words God, Jesus, Santa, Christmas and Chanukah -- in place of music that would not be "belief-specific."

- Lord, we ask for Your forgiveness for our educational system that has removed You, and any reference to You from our celebrations of Your coming to earth to die for our sins. We are such an ungrateful people, and so "politically correct", choosing to rather offend You than anyone who does not believe in You. We worry that the children might have "specific beliefs"; and apparently that is no longer acceptable. Forgive us, Abba, and bring the realization of Who You really are, to the those who do not yet know You. Amen.

- "If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels." (Mark 8:38)

4. White House Outlines Plan Against 'Homegrown' Extremist Threats
- VOA

The Obama administration on Thursday released an implementation plan for intensified efforts to counter so-called "homegrown" violent extremism in the United States.

- Father, this whole subject of "homegrown violent extremism" in our nation is of much concern to us all. We pray for discernment and wisdom to be given to our Congressmen/women, and to our Senators. May our Constitution be followed to the letter in this regard, and the rights of every citizen be honored and enforced for all, until such "due process" would occur, proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. We know, that in the wrong hands, Bible-believing Christians could be "lumped" into this category of "extremism", and our rights could be taken away. We pray that this would not happen, and that Godly men and women will stand up for right, and that You would not let them be forsaken! Thank You, for our vindication comes from You!

- "No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me, declares the LORD." (Isaiah 54:17)

5. Holder: "Lying" To Congress Depends On "State Of Mind" - Real Clear Politics

Eric Holder attempts to avoid question about lying to congress. Saying that lying depends on one's state of mind.

- There will be more inquiries in the days ahead regarding the possible involvement of the Attorney General in setting policy for "Fast and Furious." Pray that all truth is revealed, and that justice is served in the Department of Justice. Amen.

- "But let your statement be, 'Yes, yes ' or 'No, no'; anything beyond these is of evil." (Matthew 5:37)

6. Putin Blames Clinton for Unrest
- Moscow Times

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin accused U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Thursday of instigating the public protests against the State Duma elections as tens of thousands signed up to rally over the weekend.

- This may be a case of the pot calling the kettle black. Either way, pray for stability for the nation of Russia, and that the voters will know and vote the will of God in this weekend's upcoming elections. Pray!

- "Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven."
(Matthew 6:10)

Two of the rockets exploded in the Ashkelon Regional Council shortly after 12 p.m. and another in the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council around 9 a.m. No damage or injuries were reported. Overnight, the Israel Air Force struck targets connected with terrorist activity in the Gaza Strip in response to rockets Thursday,

Antichrist type and shadow found in Obama's treatment of Hanukkah

The man who occupies the Oval Office has disrespected the Jewish high holiday of Hanukkah by lighting all the candles on the menorah, having a Hanukkah party at the White House some 12 days early, and poking fun at the entire event by saying, "So while it is not yet Hanukkah, let's give thanks for our blessings, for being together to celebrate this wonderful holiday season. And we never need an excuse for a good party." There has never been a report where Obama has mocked the Islamic holiday of Ramadan. In fact, he has always marked that holiday with serious respect for the false religion. As to Christianity, his record speaks for itself.

Investors.com reported that Obama told a fundraiser last week in Manhattan, "This administration -- I try not to pat myself too much on the back -- but this administration has done more in terms of the security of the state of Israel than any previous administration." Or is it deception? On one hand, he says that Hanukkah is an excuse to have a party at the White House, on the other hand, he says his administration has done more to protect Israel than any other. It is an obvious observation that supporting the Israel-hating Moslem Brotherhood in a bid to take over Arab nations of the Middle East is not making Israel more secure, unless he was talking about undermining Israel's security.

The inventory of this administration's treatment of Israel is alarming. The tone was set by Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel when he told the Jewish Community that America's pressure on Iran for its nuclear program would be tied to Israel's disposition toward giving up land for peace to the Palestinian Authority. It has been underscored by making Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu exit the White House through the trash alley, by insulting him off mic to to the French President, by refusing to sell the Israeli military spare parts, by bullying Israel to stop building homes on its own land, by demanding Israel return to the negotiating table and mend fences with Egypt, Turkey and Jordan, and much more.

Prophecy is awaited for precise fulfillment, but throughout history there are types and shadows of prophetic fulfillment. This example of mocking the Jewish people and Hanukkah is no less a type and shadow. Daniel 11 speaks of how the antichrist will defile the temple. Verse 36 says, "...and he shall exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods." Here this president has taken a seat of power. He has elevated all things that are against God Almighty--homosexuality, abortion, and most notably the antichrist religion Islam. He has demeaned the people of God at every juncture. This is a small picture of the prophecy of the antichrist. And we know what happens to his kingdom. Pray, repent, prepare, stand.

Moslem Radicalism In The Military

Congress' approval ratings are low. Many of you think the GOP House could be doing more to advance the conservative cause. But consider what is happening this week on Capitol Hill.

Tomorrow Rep. Peter King (R-NY), chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, is holding a joint hearing with Sen. Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) to examine radicalization of Moslems in America. This will be King's fourth such hearing, and will focus exclusively on radicalization within the American military.

These hearings are necessary because the Obama Administration is turning a blind eye to a very real danger. It was reported in late October that the administration had ordered law enforcement and national security communities to "eliminate all references to Islam" in their counterterrorism training materials. The action was reportedly taken in response to complaints from CAIR and other Muslim groups. Even the Pentagon has been dragged into this politically correct charade.

In addition to the King/Lieberman hearing, Attorney General Eric Holder will be testifying before the House Judiciary Committee Thursday on Operation Fast and Furious -- on the same day former Senator and Governor Jon Corzine (D-NJ) is set to testify about his role in the MF Global scandal.

None of these hearings would be taking place if Nancy Pelosi were Speaker of the House today. (Gary Bauer)

Priorities

The Associated Press reports that Hussein Obama issued a memorandum today (Tuesday, Dec. 6) ordering the State Department to use your hard-earned tax dollars "to promote rights for gays and lesbians abroad, including combating attempts by foreign governments to criminalize homosexuality." According to other reports, the Obama Administration may condition foreign aid on a country's homo rights record.

So while the administration is downplaying Christian persecution overseas, it is elevating homosexuals to a protected class. I'm sure promoting the idea of men "marrying" other men will win over many converts in the Middle East, especially as the Islamists seem to be taking over one country after another.

The Obama Administration is also considering putting abortion-inducing drugs on the shelves of local grocery stores. I know it seems outrageous, but you don't have to take my word for it. Consider this excerpt from today's Washington Post:

"The federal government is grappling with the explosive question of whether to let anyone of any age buy the controversial morning-after pill Plan B directly off drugstore and supermarket shelves without a prescription.. . [making] the pill as easy to get as toilet paper and toothpaste . . ."

With the nation mired in debt and unemployment still unacceptably high, why is the Obama Administration focused on these issues? That tells you all you need to know about Obama's priorities. As Obama writes off white working-class voters, he is once again pandering to his left-wing base in advance of the 2012 elections. (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day, Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011)

The Good News Corner:

White House Adoption Panel Includes Focus on the Family

Summary: Wait No More Director Kelly Rosati discusses advantages of including the church.

When the White House held a panel discussion on adoption Monday, it didn't forget to include Focus on the Family.

Kelly Rosati, vice president of Community Outreach, overseers the Wait No More campaign -- an effort that encourages and helps Christian families adopt children from foster care.

"It was a great day," Rosati said Tuesday as she was waiting to catch a flight back to Colorado. "One of the most incredible aspects was the diversity of people in the room who would otherwise disagree on so many things all coming together to agree that when it comes to kids in foster care, we have to do better to find them permanent homes."

In all, 12 experts took part in three separate panel discussions -- one focusing on adopting children from foster care, one focusing on international adoption and the other focusing on infant adoption. Several Obama administration officials attended, including Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Environmental Protection Agency chief Lisa P. Jackson -- who was adopted as an infant -- and members of the Administration for Children and Families.

Though some people advocated for homosexual adoption, Rosati said the discussions were not contentious.

"One theme of the day was the great respect the administration has for faith-based adoption agencies and the need for them to continue to do what they do," she said. "The other was that we need to prioritize the needs of orphan kids in foster care around the world.

"I was not surprised. The White House has actually been quite terrific and supportive of Wait No More and our efforts on this issue. We have to work together. There's a role for government, and great government respect for the role of faith-based organizations."

Though details of public policy were not discussed in depth, the panelists agreed on at least one major issue: The need to get rid of disincentives for older foster care children to choose between having a family and going to college.

"Depending which state you're in, if you're a teenager in foster care, you have access to certain benefits," Rosati explained. "One is mental health services, one is independent living skills. If you age out of the system, you can get college benefits. You might have someone who is willing to adopt the teenager, but if they get a family, they have to leave behind all those benefits."
