The Daily Brief
1. 'Synthetic' Marijuana Use Becoming Problem for U.S. Military - Fox News
U.S. troops are increasingly using an easy-to-get herbal mix called "Spice," which mimics a marijuana high and can bring on hallucinations that last for days.
"You can just imagine the work that we do in a military environment," said Mark Ridley, deputy director of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, adding, "you need to be in your right mind when you do a job. That's why the Navy has always taken a zero tolerance policy toward drugs."
~ Father, we thank You that this form of drug abuse has come to light, so it can be dealt with. We understand that the intense stress of war makes our soldiers more vulnerable to wanting to "escape" the ugliness of combat and loss of comrades. We ask, Lord, that You would give these NCIS agents Your wisdom, as to how to counter this attack against our military. Help them to discover how to keep these dangerously lethal substances out of the hands of our troops. We bind up spirits of addiction, and release Your peace that passes all understanding to guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Amen
~ "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." (Phillippians 4:6,7)
2. Court Revives NSA Dragnet Surveillance Case - Wired News
A federal appeals court on Thursday reinstated a closely watched lawsuit accusing the federal government of working with the nation's largest telecommunication companies to illegally funnel Americans' electronic communications to the National Security Agency without court warrants.
~ Abba, we bind up these lawless spirits that would deny our rights to privacy and due process. We understand that there are those who have subversive agendas against our nation however, wisdom is needed to differentiate between terrorists and non-terrorists. We ask that our Constitution would be followed by our Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of Government on behalf of American citizens. We ask that You give Your wisdom to the NSA as to how they can protect our nation, and still not violate the rights of its citizens. In Yeshua's Name, we pray, Amen.
~ "Happy is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding drawing it forth from God's Word and life's experiences, For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, and the profit of it better than fine gold." (Proverbs 3:13,14)
3. Iowa's evangelicals moving to Santorum - Reuters
Signs that Rick Santorum is suddenly a contender in the race for the Republican nomination for president were all over Iowa on Thursday.
~ Father, we know that as "evangelicals" we are being "targeted" by many candidates to vote for them. We bind up spirits of deception and confusion that would try to paint an inaccurate picture of their true beliefs, in order to gain our votes. We ask that the mouths of liars will be stopped, and that You would reveal the secret things, and those things kept hidden would become known. Give us Your supernatural wisdom to vote for the candidates of Your choosing who would rule in righteousness, we pray.
~ "When one rules over people in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God, he is like the light of morning at sunrise on a cloudless morning, like the brightness after rain that brings grass from the earth." (2 Samuel 23:3,4)
4. Report: US Pushing Israel to Free Barghouti so he can run for election - Arutz
The Obama administration wants Israel to release arch-terrorist Marwan Barghouti so he can run for election. The Obama administration is trying to convince Israel to release arch-terrorist and mass-murderer Marwan Barghouti. According to the Hamas-aligned Al Quds daily, Washington views Barghouti as its preferred candidate for Fatah to field against Hamas in Palestinian Authority (PA) elections in May 2012. "A high-profile US delegation has regularly discussed with officials in Tel Aviv the option to free Barghouti to lead Fatah against Hamas in the next elections," the sources that the daily did not identify, said. The Al-Quds report comes as Arab capitals are abuzz with the news that PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas will not seek re-election, leaving Washington concerned Fatah has no one to field against Hamas. However, the release of Barghouti, who was sentenced to five life sentences for as many terror related murders in Israel, and who security services say is responsible for at least 21 other murders, is widely opposed in Israel.
~ O Lord God of Israel, we ask that You give our administration true Wisdom in recognizing that the enemies of Israel are Your enemies, as well as ours. We ask for Your divine intervention in the affairs of men who plot evil against Your people. We pray for wisdom for our President, and humbleness of heart, to receive Your instruction. May our leaders realize that if they facilitate and placate the enemies of Israel, that they are also endangering our nation and people. We also ask for Your protection, blessing, and wisdom to be upon Prime Minister Netanyahu. We ask You to stop the release from prison of this evil man. We also ask for You to visit him in jail, and reveal Yourself to him, so that he may acknowledge his sin, and bow before You, and receive You as his God. We ask You to rule in these coming elections in 2012 both here, and in the Middle East, to bring about Your purposes and Your desires. We thank You for Your Covenant with Israel, and with us, as Your people. Amen and Amen!
~" All your children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their peace. In righteousness you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you. If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you." (Isaiah 54:13-14)
5. State Department: More Money Should be Freed to PA - Arutz News
The U.S. State Department welcomed, on Thursday, Congress' decision to release $40 million in aid to the Palestinian Authority, but said that additional funding should be released. "We have been working with Congress for some time, because we don't think it's in U.S. national interests to keep this money frozen," State Department spokeswoman, Victoria Nuland, was quoted by AFP as having told reporters. She added, however, "We will continue to work with Congress when they come back in session to secure additional funding for these programs, because we think they're important. We think they aid in stability and security and development for the Palestinian people. That's in our interest, it's in their interest, and we believe, it's also in Israel's interest."
~ Abba, we acknowledge that most Palestinians do need humanitarian aid, and we thank You for the ability we have to help them in that need. However, we also know that most of this money does not get to those who need it, but is rather put back into military pursuits, forging weapons to be used against Israelis...which is in no one's interest. Therefore, Lord, we ask for wisdom for our Congress to recognize what is a legitimate need vs what the "real agenda" is. In a time of economic crisis in our own country, we ask that discretion be used in funneling available funds to where they can do the most good. In Your Name, we pray.
~"Do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion; they will be life for you." (Proverbs 3:21,22)

The Daily Jot
The thief in your house
What would you do if a thief came into your house and began taking your possessions? What if he kicked you out of your house and locked you out of it? What if he took your children and imprisoned them? Would you fight back? Or would you just turn the other cheek? I think that most of you would fight back. This home invasion would be a place where you would draw the line and do what you could to stop the thief. Even if the thief got away, you would find a way to pursue him and bring him to justice, get your children back, and restore your property. You would see this thief as an enemy to your life, liberty and happiness. I am reporting that this is already happening to you and asking what are you doing about it?
We can wax spiritually about the condition of the nation and of the world. There is nothing we can do to stop the march of prophecy. Why would we want to? But we can determine our place in it. Jesus and the Apostles knew that we would face tribulation. Jesus said in John 16:33, "In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." Jesus also gives us an example about the thief and the good shepherd. He said in John 10:10, "The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy." Jesus goes on to say that he is the good shepherd, "and I lay down my life for the sheep." We all know that in the physical world, Jesus gave his life that we might have salvation and eternal life.
Jesus also said in John 15:12 and 13, "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." Here we have the example of Jesus. He gave his life here on the physical earth that we might have life eternally--this is both spiritual and physical. Interesting that he spoke of loving one another and in the same context that he said that there is no greater love than to lay down your life for your friends. To me, this is far from being passive. Like Jesus, I believe that it is our duty to protect our family and friends and lay down our life for them if the ultimate need arises. In this, we are good shepherds here on earth.
Back to the thief in your house. This thief has pillaged your wealth. This thief has indentured the future of your children that they might be slaves to him. This thief has placed your belongings at his behest. This thief has stolen your freedom, limited your life, and ridiculed your service to God. This thief is becoming a tyrannical beast. But as long as he allows some freedom, little is done about his aggression. To rid themselves of this thief, our forefathers took action with a pledge: "...with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor." It took violence to remove the thief from their houses in 1776. Hopefully, we can wake up and do it non-violently. We must become good shepherds.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!
