"Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory." (Isaiah 6:3)
The Daily Brief
1. National Cathedral needs $15 million for initial earthquake repairs - Washington Post
Officials plan to reopen Washington National Cathedral on Nov. 12, but they also said Tuesday that much work remains to repair the damage caused by last summer's earthquake. The cathedral needs to raise at least $15 million for initial repairs to the earthquake-damaged edifice, the officials said, and the chief stone mason there believes overall repairs could take a decade to complete.
"The short-term priorities are . . . stabilizing the building, reopening the Cathedral, and continuing its operations and mission," the official statement said. Full restoration is expected to cost "tens of millions of dollars," the statement said, and the cathedral "will seek contributions large and small from across the country." Cathedral operations are not funded by the government or a national church entity.
• Lord, we pray for the restoration of this national spiritual center where Americans have united to worship and pray and mourn the passing of world leaders. It has been a great part of history in our nation. Help restore our nation as well as this Cathedral. May it not take too long.
• " For we were slaves. Yet our God did not forsake us in our bondage; but He extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to revive us, to repair the house of our God, to rebuild its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem." (Ezra 9:9)
2. Update: 1-US's Geithner warns Europe crisis a global threat - Reuters
Europe needs to step up efforts to control its debt crisis before it pulls the United States and the rest of world into a renewed downturn, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner urged on Wednesday.
He travels to Paris next week to again meet group of 20 finance ministers Oct 14-15 and is expected to pick up the refrain that they must move faster and more convincingly to persuade financial markets that governments are determined to stop the crisis.
• Lord, we pray for Your wisdom in these meetings with national leaders to reveal a plan on how to control the debt crisis in the countries that are threatening the world economy. Let nothing be agreed upon that would harm the countries - especially ours. Allow leaders for these countries who hear from You to succeed in their endeavors for the solutions.
• "But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, and will be secure, without fear of evil." (Proverbs 1:33)
3. With Univision Snub, GOP Candidates Seek Other Venues for Reaching Latinos - Fox News
Univision is also not the only televised venue for GOP candidates to reach Spanish speakers in America. There's also Telemundo and Azteca America. Perry's campaign, in announcing the candidate might sit out the debate over its treatment of Rubio, noted that a separate NBC-Telemundo debate in January would offer "ample opportunity" for Perry to reach a Spanish-speaking audience.
"Univision News is the leading news source for the U.S. Hispanic community," a Univision spokesperson said in a statement. "According to Nielsen, more than 80 percent of Univision news viewers do not watch news on any other network. ... Hispanic Americans rely on Univision for information about the political process and access to all candidates and issues." But Univision and its audience can't be discounted.
• Lord, we pray the right stations will be open to the candidates and supportive of Christian conservatives, who will have a vision from You to restore the nation. Let the Hispanics be open to the conservative message and greatly support the candidates.
• " And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32)
4. 'Darn Tooting!' Obama Brags About HHS Reg Catholic Bishops Call Attack on Liberty - CNS News
Bantering with the audience at a fundraiser in St. Louis yesterday, President Barack Obama bragged about a new regulation, proposed by the Department of Health and Human Services, that the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has denounced as an "unprecedented attack on religious liberty." "Darn tooting!" Obama said back.
The proposed regulation, designed to implement part of Obamacare, will require all private health plans in the United States to cover sterilizations and all FDA - approved contraceptives--including those that cause abortions - without charging any fees or co-pay. These regulations were drawn to implement a provision in Obama's health-care law that calls for all health-care plans to cover "preventive services."
A "religious exemption" in the regulation is so narrowly drawn that it does not include any lay Catholics, or any Catholic hospitals, charitable organizations, or colleges or universities. Thus, many major Catholic institutions in the United States would be forced to choose between dropping health insurance coverage for their employees and students or violating the moral teachings of their own church.
• Father God, this is an abomination! It is a mockery against You and Your laws, Lord. We pray that You will intervene to stop this legislation from going forward. Let a loud protest arise from all the citizens against this invasion against our religious freedoms. Replace immediately all those who have had anything to do with its implementation and passage. Give us righteous leaders!
• " The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good." (Psalm 14:1)
5. Graduate Student's Lawsuit Against College Pits School Policy Vs. Religious Beliefs - Fox News
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Cincinnati heard arguments in the case involving Julea Ward, a Detroit-area public school teacher. In July 2010, a federal judge dismissed Ward's lawsuit against Eastern Michigan University (EMU) after the school successfully contended she violated school policy and the American Counseling Association's code of ethics, which forbids counselors from discrimination in clinical practice.
According to ADF attorneys, Ward was assigned a potential client seeking assistance regarding a homosexual relationship shortly after she enrolled in the counseling program in January 2009. Realizing she could not affirm the client's relationship without violating her own religious beliefs, Ward then asked a supervisor for assistance. After being advised to reassign the potential client, EMU officials informed Ward she would need to undergo a "remediation" program in order to stay in the counseling program, the attorneys claim. Ward was later dismissed from the program, and EMU officials denied her appeal.
• Lord, more and more of our rights are being taken away by the courts. We pray that You will remove all who are against Your laws. Give us righteous judges who will not further strip our rights and force people to take action against their conscience and against You.
• " The Lord comes - to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him." (Jude 1:14, 15)
6. Nearly Half of U.S. Lives in Household Receiving Government Benefit - Wall Street Journal
The share of people relying on government benefits has reached a historic high, in large part from the deep recession and meager recovery, but also because of the expansion of government programs over the years. High unemployment and increased reliance on government programs has also shrunk the nation's share of taxpayers. Some 46.4% of households will pay no federal income tax this year, according to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center. That's up from 39.9% in 2007, the year the recession began.
Benefits programs have come under closer scrutiny as policymakers attempt to tame the federal government's budget deficit. President Barack Obama and members of Congress considered changes to Social Security and Medicare as part of a grand bargain (that ultimately fell apart) to raise the debt ceiling earlier this year. Cuts to such programs could emerge again from the so-called "super committee," tasked with releasing a plan to rein in the deficit.
• Lord, we know that until we get our hearts right with You, our economy will not get better. Help our nation acknowledge that by choosing people who do not place You first in their lives, and in their decisions, has caused our grief. Turn this nation back to honoring You, Lord!
• "Will your riches, Or all the mighty forces, Keep you from distress?" (Job 36:19) "Here is the man who did not make God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness." (Psalm 52:7)
7. Fast and Furious: GOP Says Eric Holder is 'Either Incompetent' or 'Misleading Congress' - ABC News
Twice in 2010, Attorney General Eric Holder received memos referencing the Fast and Furious program, memos that seemingly undermine the letter of his May 3, 2010 testimony that he heard about the Fast and Furious program over the previous few weeks. Justice Department officials acknowledge that the memos to Holder reference Fast and Furious as an operation - but they argue the memos do not include details about tactics that allowed guns to cross the border.
They say Holder understood the May 2011 question to Holder from Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., to have been about when the attorney general learned about the controversial tactics, not about the existence of the program. Issa asked Holder when he first knew about the Fast and Furious program. Holder replied: "I'm not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks."
• Father God, we pray that everything hidden in these decisions will be revealed. Let those who approved this dubious plan be exposed and punished for such a horrendous action that put our agents in danger and still jeopardizes American and Mexican lives.
• "But this is a people robbed and plundered; All of them are snared in holes, and they are hidden in prison houses; they are for prey, and no one delivers; for plunder, and no one says, "Restore!" (Isaiah 42:22)

1. After criticism, Palestinians say will cooperate with Quartet envoy Tony Blair - Ha'aretz
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's spokesman said on Wednesday that despite criticisms of Mideast Quartet envoy Tony Blair in senior Palestinian political circles, the Palestinians would continue to work with him.
2. Palestinian anger at US rising over UN veto threat - MSNBC
Palestinians have long been skeptical of America's ability to help them win independence. But low expectations have turned into frustration and in some cases outright anger after the U.S. threatened to derail a bid for U.N. recognition of an independent state and Congress put a hold on $200 million in badly needed aid.
3. Panetta trying to unseat Israeli leader? - WND
Some in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office are taking comments this week by U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta as a direct assault against the Israeli leader.
4. Israel may increase PA control in goodwill gesture - Jerusalem Post
The government is considering a Palestinian request to transfer security control of additional territory in the West Bank to PA security forces as a goodwill gesture to President Mahmoud Abbas.
The Daily Jot
Choosing our prophetic destiny as a people and a nation
The Wall Street Journal reports that in the first quarter of 2010 nearly half of the population of the United States, 48.5%, lived in a household that received some sort of government aid. Census data indicated that over 34% received food stamps, subsidized housing, cash welfare or Medicaid. Some 30% of households received either Medicare or Social Security. The Tax Policy Center reports 46.4% of households will pay no income tax this year. The Treasury Department reports that under this current president, personal indebtedness to the federal government has increased by $35,835 per household to to $44,980 for every full-time private sector worker. The country is imploding and the casualties are the American citizenry.
People can blame whatever political party they choose. Both had a hand in this debacle. There is no sense in the concept of spending hard earned taxpayer dollars to create huge debt betting on economic prosperity. Unless, of course, the intent is to make people so dependent on government that the government can then dictate how the people vote and how they live their lives. Freedom has a price. And in this case, so does tyranny. These leaders cunningly trapped Americans into paying for their own tyranny. Socialism and communism require no allegiance to a god that would supersede the government. Americans resisted for 234 years, but tyranny has landed in America, and we paid for it with our own money.
An ancient quote has become true in today's America: "When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." The Apostle Paul warned in 2 Timothy 3:1-7, "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." Self-centeredness is ending our freedom.
Christian Americans are supposed to know freedom. It is found in Jesus Christ. We serve a God of freedom. When Christians became too involved with themselves, the church in chasing after them also became self indulgent, abandoning its mission and acquiescing its social duty to the government. Now, like the Israelites before us, we have turned our backs on the God who set us free and stand on the precipice of tyranny. Strange and silly doctrines, self indulgent behavior, denial of scripture, and disobedience are the vehicles we ride into our captivity. The Lord's grace provides us many chances. These days we as a people and a nation are choosing our prophetic destiny, will it be tyranny or freedom?
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Give Peace a Chance
The video being circulated by the Unity Coalition for Israel (UCI) and the European Coalition for Israel (ECI) that is changing hearts and minds toward Zion.
"For Zion's sake we cannot remain silent!"
[The following report is a behind-the-scenes look at activities at the U.N. during the recent conference of the General Assembly. Written by Tomas Sandell, the President of the European Coalition for Israel (ECI), this report brings up several concerns for prayer, and encourages us to know that, indeed, God is at work on behalf of Israel.
To learn more about the work of ECI and how you can support the campaign to Give Peace a Chance, please contact Tomas Sandell at the email address cited below.]
- Following over a year of research and campaigning, the ECI initiative to engage in the ongoing lawfare surrounding Israel by presenting the legal foundation of the Jewish state in a new and fresh way, culminated in two intensive weeks in New York at the 66th General Assembly of the United Nations. Many had described this year's General Assembly as a decisive moment in the history of Israel, perhaps even comparable to the UN Partition Plan of 1947, or Israel´s admission to the UN in 1949. . .
Our most effective communication tool in the battle of narratives is the 15 minute film "Give Peace a Chance", produced by Leenard Fieret / Life Productions, which has been enthusiastically received around the world. Although the film has only been available for little over a month, it has already had over 42.000 hits on YouTube, and has been watched by TV audiences around the world. Needless to say, this exposure is unprecedented in ECI history.
Given that we will now have more time to convey our message, please help us to spread the film by posting it on your ministry website and Facebook, or pass it on by e-mail. The film now has subtitles in Finnish, Swedish, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Bulgarian, Hungarian and more languages are added each week. Many churches have also showed it to their congregations, and in Hungary it was recently viewed by an audience of some 5.000 churchgoers. Please write to us on info@ec4i.org if you need more information.
Key political leaders receive our educational material
New York - Whilst in New York we were able to distribute some two hundred DVDs of "Give Peace a Chance" to key political leaders and delegates of the UN. Among others, the campaign leader of the US presidential hopeful Rick Perry received a copy, as did the new Republican congressman Bob Turner from the 9th district in New York; he had just defeated an incumbent Democrat because of his clear support for Israel.
ECI engages with international media
New York - As the battle of narratives is a media war it was important for us also to meet with media representatives from different countries who were covering the UN General Assembly. We were able to give interviews and talk to media outlets from countries such as Ukraine, Japan and Brazil. The journalists from Japan had no idea of the important role which their country had played in San Remo in 1920 in signing the minutes which helped reconstitute the Jewish state. They were eager to study the subject and even consider presenting the facts to a Japanese audience.
It was also interesting to note how some respected journalists had already watched our film and had been impacted by our new and fresh narrative about the legal foundation of Israel which they simply had not heard about before. This experience teaches us that we need to do more to reach out to media. Some journalists misrepresent Israel simply because they do not have all the facts.
Open letter and film handed over to office of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon
The highlight of the visit to New York was our meeting in the Middle East Unit of the Office of the Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Despite the week's hectic schedule, we were able to have a meeting where we were able to hand over our open letter signed by 16 prominent European leaders (see press release on our website) as well as petitions from Germany, Italy and Finland signed by some 60.000 people. The letter, together with our film and research document ("Foundations of the International Legal Rights of the Jewish people and the State of Israel") will be handed over to the Secretary General within the next few days. This document can be downloaded from our campaign website www.givepeaceachance.info
