The Daily Brief - Friday, October 21, 2011

"Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth." (Revelation 3:10)

The Senate is out of session next week, and the House is in session.

The Daily Brief

1. Poverty rates up in most U.S. states, cities: Census - Reuters

The ranks of the poor rose in almost all U.S. states and cities in 2010, despite the end of the longest and deepest economic downturn since the Great Depression the year before, U.S. Census data released on Thursday showed.

- Lord, we are troubled about the fact that almost half of all our people are receiving some kind of governmental aid, financially, and yet the numbers of those needing help seem to increase. We ask that You will motivate and encourage those who are downcast, and give them Hope and may they envision themselves as successful. We pray for wisdom for our governmental officials, and for those needing to work their way out of poverty.

- "For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)

2. Competing fiscal plans blocked in divided Senate - Reuters

Senate Republicans and Democrats rejected each other's economic stimulus bills on Thursday, underscoring their inability to craft a bipartisan solution on job creation before next year's elections.

- Abba, we ask that these politicians in the Senate will stop playing "politics" and power, but, will, instead actually care about this nation, and its people . We pray You will prick their consciences, and cause them to see this situation through the eyes of the average American taxpayer; and that they would "put their house in order", and compromise on a fair and just solution.

- "For skillful and godly Wisdom shall enter into your heart, and knowledge shall be pleasant to you. Discretion shall watch over you, understanding shall keep you." (Proverbs 2:10,11)

3. Fed Is Poised for More Easing - Wall Street Journal

Federal Reserve officials are starting to build a case for a new program of buying mortgage-backed securities to boost the ailing economy, though they appear unlikely to move swiftly.

_ Lord, we do ask, again, for godly men and women in these positions of authority and implementation of measures to help the American people. We ask that they seek Your divine guidance, and that they may be able to "cut through" all the bureaucratic red tape, and implement good policies.

-"The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes." (Psalms 19:7,8)

4. Car Company Gets U.S. Loan, Builds Cars In Finland - ABC News

With the approval of the Obama administration, an electric car company that received a $529 million federal government loan guarantee is assembling its first line of cars in Finland, saying it could not find a facility in the United States capable of doing the work.

- Father, we rejoice that these cars are being produced, although we cannot imagine why they can not be produced here at home, and thereby give many new employment. We pray against a spirit of greed, in attempting to get cheaper labor overseas. We ask, Lord, that You would reveal the secret things, and bring them to light; and that this would be turned around to be done in accordance with Your will and desire. We thank You that we know You hear and answer our prayers!

- "The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of wisdom. The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it. To do evil is like sport to a fool, But a man of understanding has wisdom." (Proverbs 10:21-23)

5. Obama Orders All American Troops Out of Iraq by End of the Year - AP

Obama announced Friday that all U.S. forces will be withdrawn from Iraq by the end of 2011, saying the troops "will definitely be home for the holidays."

The announcement, in the White House briefing room, came after the president completed a secure video conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

The discussion apparently finalized negotiations that have dragged on for months over what, if any, military presence the U.S. would maintain in Iraq beyond a Dec. 31 withdrawal deadline set in 2008. The president said the two are now in "full agreement" over how to move forward, and that no U.S. troops will remain.

Capitol Hill sources indicated Friday that, while the troops will come home, the standard presence of Marines will be kept to guard the U.S. Embassy there.

- Pray for the safety of all of these troops who will be in the process of this rapid drawdown. May each one be honored for the service he or she has rendered during their time in Iraq.

- "For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." (Psalm 91:11)

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

The Daily Jot

Obama claims victory; but for evil or good?

The life of a brutal dictator and sponsor of terrorism has come to an end. Muammar Gaddafi was killed by his own countrymen. Now Libya is free, right? Not so fast. The National Transition Council is comprised of al Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood and other terror groups who seek to establish Sharia as the rule of law and Islam as the official and only religion in Libya. Its in their Constitution. America, at the sole direction of its president, has spent nearly a billion taxpayer dollars to help al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood establish yet another radical Islamic state in the name of democracy, self determination. And your tax dollars has paid for a lot of it.

What's more, Obama encouraged revolutionaries around the Middle East and warned other dictators that they could be next. He said, "For the region, today's events prove once more that the rule with an iron fist inevitably comes to an end. Across the Arab world citizens have stood up to claim their rights. Youth are delivering a powerful rebuke to dictatorship. And those leaders who try to deny their human dignity will not succeed." The president has been consistent in helping revolutionaries overthrow governments in the Middle East--Egypt, Libya--others are in the making. These governments are not replaced with freedom, but rather with Islamic Constitutions ruled by Sharia Law and Islam as the official religion.

This White House has made the world a far more dangerous place. The more power Islam has, as it seizes nation after nation, the closer it is to the return of the last world order of the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Empire was an Islamic Caliphate that ruled most of the former Roman Empire until 1924. The Muslim Brotherhood, the White House ally in Egypt and Libya, calls for a reestablishment of the Caliphate and worldwide submission to Sharia Law. In Islamic eschatology, the 12th Imam al-Mahdi is to return to earth and establish the peace of Islam for seven years. His prophet, they claim, is Jesus who will deny Judaism and Christianity and all infidels will be put to death during this seven years. Sound familiar?

Jesus said in Matthew 12:43, When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finding none. Then he says, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he finds it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goes he, and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation." By helping terrorists into power, America is making nations that are worse than the first.
