"And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen." (Romans 16:20)
The Daily Brief
1. Exclusive: Google, CIA Invest in 'Future' of Web Monitoring - Wired News
The investment arms of the CIA and Google are both backing a company that monitors the web in real time -- and says it uses that information to predict the future.
a. White House proposal would ease FBI access to records of Internet activity - Washington Post
The Obama administration is seeking to make it easier for the FBI to compel companies to turn over records of an individual's Internet activity without a court order if agents deem the information relevant to a terrorism or intelligence investigation.
b. FBI defends guidelines for domestic surveillance - AP
Under fire from civil liberties groups, the FBI is defending domestic surveillance guidelines that critics fear could unfairly target innocent Muslims in terrorism and other criminal investigations.
- Pray that these new measures would be used for good purposes and not evil. Ask that those In authority be granted wisdom from above, so that any and all monitoring of the internet be used to identify and apprehend the real terrorists in our midst who plan to bring harm to our citizens. May the definition of the word "terrorist" be written in truth and not for any political agenda. Pray!!
- "The wicked plots against the just, And gnashes at him with his teeth." (Psalm 37:12)
2. Cleanup efforts quicken in Michigan oil spill - USA Today
Cleanup efforts along the Kalamazoo River, where 1 million gallons of oil had spilled, accelerated Thursday amid conflicting reports of the extent of the slick and an apology from the oil company responsible.
- Pray that the true cause of these oil spills comes to light quickly. If there be any who are doing These acts to sabotage our nation, let them be found, apprehended and brought to justice quickly!
Pray for those in the State of Michigan who have been tasked with these cleanup efforts. May our Lord grant them grace to do this job quickly and well.
- "The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him. But with an overflowing flood He will make an utter end of its place, And darkness will pursue His enemies." (Nahum 1:7,8)
3. Groups: Day of Prayer Defense 'Inadequate' - CBN News
A coalition of pro-family groups has called the Obama administration's defense of the National Day of Prayer inadequate. According to the Baptist Press, the Justice Department failed to cite three specific Seventh Circuit cases, all from 2007 and 2008, that are binding precedent on the three-judge panel and would lead to a quick dismissal of the case. The Freedom from Religion Foundation, which filed the lawsuit, lacked standing to sue, the groups said. Read more.
- Come against any efforts to sabotage or otherwise weaken the legal challenge of the judge's decision that the National Day of Prayer violates the Constitution. Again, may God grant His wisdom to the attorneys for who will argue the case FOR the constitutional legality of the National Day of Prayer. Among the groups filing the motion were the Family Research Council, Focus on the Family Action, and Liberty Institute. Pray!
- "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan." (Psalm 29:2)
4. Al Qaeda No. 2 Threatens More U.S. Attacks - ABC News
Al Qaeda's second in command Ayman Al-Zawahiri has surfaced again, this time threatening more attacks against the U.S. and the West.
- God, close every gate through which Al Qaeda's terrorists could enter. We put the blood of Jesus over the doorposts and both sides of the gates and we ask that You set angels around the entrance. Close off and break down their energy; cut off any demonic intelligence; strip them of all power; scatter the camp of the enemy; isolate one from another; let there be no unity among them. They are totally defeated through the Cross of Jesus Christ and they cannot stand. In Jesus Name.
"For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things." (Philippians 4:18-19)
5. France Declares War Against Al-Qaida - ABC News
France has declared war on al-Qaida, and matched its fighting words with a first attack on a base camp of the terror network's North African branch, after the terror network killed a French aid worker it took hostage in April.
- God, may there be a continual strong and massive attack on Al-Qaeda that will destroy their works of evil and bring many terrorists to their knees in repentance of sin and turn from a life of hatred to a life of love through the blood of Jesus. In Jesus Name.
- "Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our god shall call." (Acts 2:38-39)
6. Missionary's Flying Car Travels to Wis. Air Show - CBN News
The missionary inventor who designed a flying car to help spread the Gospel throughout the world will showcase his invention at one of the biggest aviation shows in the world this weekend.
- Father God, this is a sign from heaven that You are giving witty inventions to Your people and will prosper them mightily. No earthly power can stop God's work among His people. They are protected by heavenly hands that prosper them, love them and promote their inheritance among the people. Thank You, Lord for your marvelous blessings. In Jesus Name.
"Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts." (Zechariah 4:6)
7. House Goes into Summer Recess This Weekend; Senate Remains in Session One More Week - CHPP
Today the members of Congress are in a flurry of activity, attempting to pass many bills before going into a five-week recess period next week. Voting is expected to last late into the night . . .
Next week, the Senate will also follow suit, as they prepare to go into recess on Friday, August 6th.
- As these members work now under extreme pressure to complete their work before the pending vacation, ask our Lord to mantle each member, Republican and Democrat, in the House and in the Senate, with supernatural strength to be able to "endure to the end." Pray that, in this rush to finish pending legislation, nothing is done in haste that members will regret later on.
In his or her time in their home districts next month, may each legislator encounter one who will release the Gospel of Jesus Christ into their lives -- the only news that really counts. Amen.
- "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." (Matthew 24:14)

A rocket fired from the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun exploded in the heart of a populated area in the southern city of Ashkelon on Friday morning. Two people suffered shock. Two empty floors of an apartment building, several cars and a nearby pavement sustained damage. Many windows were shattered.
2. U.S. 'encouraged' by Arab support for direct Israeli-Palestinian talks - Ha'aretz
The United States said Thursday it was "encouraged" by signs of Arab support for direct peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, after the Arab League declared earlier that it would support the Palestinians if they decided to enter into such face-to-face talks.
3. Jerusalem Pride Parade encounters protests, insults - Ynet News
A year after the murder at the Tel Aviv gay youth club, about 2,000 participants in the Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade have gathered in the city's Independence Park and embarked on the annual march, headed towards the Knesset building.
4. Wrangling delays EU Gaza visit - Jerusalem Post
European Union foreign ministers, who for months and even years have bewailed the humanitarian situation in Gaza and often complained bitterly when Israel did not allow them access to the Strip, have put off a Gaza visit until September because of internal EU bureaucratic and political squabbles.

The face of anarchy: When lawlessness abounds
The face of anarchy is etched on the debate over illegal immigration. There are protests across the country by angry leftists who actually won a lower court decision to put off the enforcement of key parts of the controversial Arizona law to defend the state's border. For some reason, the government isn't seeing this picture clearly. We have illegal aliens and those supporting illegal aliens demonstrating in the streets against the possibility that the state of Arizona will enforce the law. This is the face of anarchy because people have taken to the streets to protest the rule of law in this nation. And the federal government, led by the White House, is siding with the lawbreakers rather than the American law abiding public.
Jesus said in Matthew 24:12, "And because lawlessness shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." Of course, Jesus is talking about God's law--when people quit following God's law, the love of many shall wax cold. But there is a parallel with the laws of nations. And God's law is not a respecter of men, and the laws of the nation should also be blind administration of justice. On the illegal alien front, the Bible is very clear--we are to treat sojourners from other places with the love of God and His hospitality. But also, the LORD says in Leviticus 24:22, "Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God."
The United States has laws to secure the border. The White House has decided that for foreign policy reasons, and that the border is too big to secure, it will not comply with its Constitutional charge to secure the borders. The Arizona law, very similar to Federal law, sought to allow state law enforcement to do what the federal government refuses to do. The Justice Department argued that Arizona had no right to usurp the Federal Government's role in enforcing the law. And the judge sided with the White House and the Department of Justice. Notwithstanding, Arizona's law enforcement is continuing to enforce the state laws that it has regarding illegals entering the state.
Coming into the United States illegally is a crime. Those who do so are already lawbreakers. In addition, there is an inordinate amount of crime associated with illegal immigration from human trafficking, to the drug trade, to crime in the streets, to prostitution, to theft and murders. Sadly, the courts and the White House have sided with the criminals and have said to the American people that they intend to protect the lawbreakers rather than the law abiders. Herein are two messages: The Federal government will not protect law abiding citizens because it refuses to enforce the law; and the Federal government is sanctioning colonization by lawbreakers. It is time for citizens to raise their voices.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Stickup Foiled When Victim Invokes Jesus
Clerk To Gunman: 'Jesus Has Something Way Better For You'
Friday, July 30, 2010
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- A cell phone store employee talked a man out of robbing the store last Friday by talking to him about Jesus, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.Deputies said a man went into the MetroPCS store on Cypress Road, pretending that he wanted to buy a cell phone. The man talked pleasantly to 20-year-old Nayara Goncalves, the only employee in the store, before pulling a gun and demanding cash from the register, police said.Goncalves remained calm and started talking to the man about what he was doing. BSO released the surveillance video, which captured the conversation."I'm Christian," Goncalves said."So am I, and I actually really hate doing this," the gunman said. "I'm embarrassed to have to do this, and I have no choice.""You don't have to do this," Goncalves said."Talk about making it harder," the gunman said."Jesus has got something way better for you, for everyone that's out there. I'm not blaming you. I'm not judging. I don't know what you're going through, but all of us are going through a hard time right now, a very hard time right now," Goncalves said."That's why I refuse to do anything to anybody else," the gunman said. "I've never done this before."
Goncalves spoke to the gunman for about five minutes, even offering to help him get a job so he would not have to steal."I have a job," the gunman said."You do? Then why are you doing this?" Goncalves said."Because I'm going to be evicted if I don't come up with $300," the gunman said. After Goncalves talked to the man, he left without harming her or taking anything, police said."I'm sorry. I understand if you still have to call the police," the gunman said as he left.Goncalves did call police a few minutes after the man left. She told Local 10 that her faith helped prevent the robbery."I'm very Christian and I go to church a lot, so I just feel like I want to tell everybody about Jesus," Goncalves said. She said she does not believe the man was a bad person, just desperate.BSO said the would-be robber was a white man with a mustache in his late 30s to mid-40s who was about 5 feet 9 inches tall.Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
