The Daily Brief - Thursday, July 22, 2010

Jesus said, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me. (John 14:1)

The Daily Brief

1. Tropical Depression Forms in Bahamas, Heading for Oil Spill - AP

A tropical depression has formed over the Bahamas and is moving toward the site of massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

- Father, we take authority over this storm and command it to dissipate in Jesus' Name.

- "And He arose, and rebuked the wind and said unto the sea, 'Peace, be still.' And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm." (Mark 4:37)

2. Arizona Court Battle Begins Over Immigration Law - AP

A federal judge will hear arguments Thursday from lawyers for the governor, the U.S. government and civil rights groups over whether Arizona's new law requiring police to run checks on immigration status should take effect in a week.

- Lord, You are the God of justice. We invoke Your authority, Your Name, over the spirits running this lawsuit, and pray that You will prevail. We ask for strength and wisdom for the attorneys fighting for Arizona, and Your wisdom and truth for judge Susan Bolton. May she see the far-reaching effects of failure to secure US borders, and she will see the truth within the Arizona law rather than emotional deceptions.

- "Behold I give you the power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you." (Luke 10:19)

3. Taxing You by the Mile Instead of the Gallon - CBN News

Imagine someone taxing you every time you drove a mile. That's exactly what the state of Oregon wants to do to its drivers. And there's a good chance a mileage tax could soon be imposed on every driver throughout the country.

- Father, we ask that You stop this unjust mileage taxation in its tracks.

- "The Lord is righteous in her midst, He will do no unrighteousness. Every morning He brings His justice to light; He never fails, but the unjust knows no shame." (Zephaniah 3:5)

4. Supreme Court Police Said It's 'Definitely Contrary to the Law' to Pray on Supreme Court Steps - CNS News

The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) wants assurances that an Arizona Christian school teacher will not be arrested if she prays on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court building.

- Father, we ask You to dispatch Your angelic host to assist in this battle. We continue to declare Your Lordship over America, and call forth the power of Your Words written in the very stones of the Supreme Court building. We bind the deceptions and lies within the police who guard the Supreme Court Building, as well as all other buildings in Washington, D.C.

- "So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11)

5. Gold Coin Sellers Angered by New Tax Law - ABC News

Those already outraged by the president's health care legislation now have a new bone of contention -- a scarcely noticed tack-on provision to the law that puts gold coin buyers and sellers under closer government scrutiny.

- Lord, we pray that all hidden provisions of recent legislation be revealed; and we ask that You assign godly attorneys to litigate their removal.

- "For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known." (Luke 12:2)

6. White House Spent $23M of Taxpayer Money to Back Kenyan Constitution That Legalizes Abortion, GOP Reps Say - Fox News

A Republican lawmaker is accusing the White House of "unconscionable" and "illegal" acts for its role in Kenya's referendum on a new constitution, which would legalize abortion in the country for the first time.

Rep. Chris Smith of New Jersey cited a report by the U.S. Agency for International Development, or USAID, that estimated that more than $23 million in U.S. taxpayer funds have been spent on the referendum. Smith and other conservatives have complained that at least some of that money has been spent in support of the proposed constitution, possibly violating U.S. law.

"Under no circumstances should the U.S. government take sides," Smith said at a news conference Wednesday. "Yet that is precisely what the Obama administration has done."

- Father, we are dismayed daily by the actions of this White House, and seeing the interference in the country of his "cousin" is unbelievable, not to mention illegal. Lord, as the blood of the unborn cries out for justice, we pray that You will stop the new Kenyan constitution from ratification as it stands. Change those points of this document that are unrighteous, and bring forth a new document of Your heart.

- "So you shall put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you when you do what is right in the sight of the Lord." (Deuteronomy 21:9)

The Middle East in Focus

The Daily Jot

Journolist: Many false prophets deceive many

The truth is mentioned in some 224 verses of the Bible. Proverbs 12:17 says, "He that speaks the truth shows forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit." And deceit is exactly what we are seeing among todays top journalists, college and university professors and activists who profess to be liberals. In reality, many of them are communists who want to bring down the United States of America, its society, its morals, its political system and its economy. This is no more apparent than through the exposure by The Daily Caller of Journolist, an internet online meeting place for several hundred leftist journalists, as well as like-minded professors and activists.

So-called journalists from the nation's top mainstream media, bloggers met regularly on Journolist to discuss how they might proceed covering various stories. By the messages posted on Journolist, The Daily Caller was able to show beyond a doubt that these "journalists" were actually plotting how to advance their candidate--the man who now occupies the Oval Office--by developing strategies to suppress damaging stories, redirect the debate by calling specific conservative writers racists, and by propagandizing their own stories. Discussion included everything from how to deal with the problems caused by the president's pastor Jeremiah Wright to trying to use political force to shut down FOX News.

Demonstrating the hate these people have for anyone who disagrees with them was Sara Spits, a producer for National Public Radio's Left, Right & Center show. She mused in a post to Journolist that if talk show host Rush Limbaugh were having a heart attack she would not lift a finger to help him. The Daily Caller writes, "Spitz wrote that she would "Laugh loudly like a maniac and watch his eyes bug out" as Limbaugh writhed in torment...'I never knew I had this much hate in me,' she wrote. 'But he deserves it.' Spitz's hatred for Limbaugh seems intemperate, even imbalanced. On Journolist, where conservatives are regarded not as opponents but as enemies, it barely raised an eyebrow."

Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." This "Journolist" expose' is proof positive that there are forces about that claim to be truth tellers when in reality they are heralding lies. It is an example of how the opinion-swayers of these times band together to promote the lies and strategies of evil. They manipulate the population through their reports. They abuse their power and responsibility under freedom of the press. Above all, unless you want to be sheep led to the slaughter, you must sharpen your discernment skills. And the only way I know how to do that is by reading the Bible--not what others say or write about the Bible--but you, yourself read it, absorb it, live it.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!
