Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Typhoons; Obamacare

"And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven . . ." (Luke 21:11)

A note to our readers: Due to several emergency needs for prayer, we are issuing this Special Edition of the OCAP tonight. The "regular edition" of the OCAP (Number 30) will be released tomorrow, Monday, October 5th.

Thank you for praying this evening for those who now need our prayers the most. Amen.

Emergency Prayer: Indonesia

URGENT Prayer is needed NOW

"You have made the land quake, You have split it open; Heal its breaches, for it totters." (Psalm 60:2)

A powerful, 7.6 earthquake struck near the island of Sumatra on September 30, 2009. The next day, a 6.8 quake hit close by. The death toll as of this writing is more than l000. Thousands more have been injured and many are trapped in rubble and unaccounted for.

PRAY FOR:

- rescue crews to reach the disaster scene quickly and for God to empower them to remove the rubble in time to save many of the victims.

- aid to reach survivors - clean water, shelter, food - and for survivors to be protected from disease and exposure.

- the God of all comfort to comfort those who have lost homes, loved ones, and livelihoods in the quakes.

- God to give wisdom to rescuers, authorities, and governments in dealing with the aftermath of this event.

- this tragedy to be used to turn hearts to the Gospel and open eyes to the Light of Jesus Christ.

Please also lift up similar prayers for the rescue teams now working in Samoa and American Samoa, in the wake of the tsunamis that hit those islands last week, too.

Emergency Prayer: Philippines

Super-typhoon roaring toward the Philippines

October 2, 2009

Philippine president, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, has declared a nationwide "state of calamity" as it braces for the arrival of a powerful super-typhoon, just days after another storm caused the country's worst flooding in decades.

Forecasters have warned that Parma, a category five storm, will hit the islands on Saturday. This is after hundreds were killed and the city of Manila flooded by typhoon Ketsana. This is an an extremely serious situation.

Please, let us stand in prayer for the Filipino people. Let's pray that the strength of this category five storm will rapidly diminish. Let us also give sacrificially to relief agencies that can get vital food, medicines and basic necessities to the people in need.

Finally, let us continue to intercede for the Samoan Islands, Tonga and Indonesia, all recently devastated by earthquakes.

Thank you!
Francis Frangipane

Health Care Issues

1. GET FREE HEALTH CARE -- IN JAIL!
2. SENATORS TURN BACK ID REQUIREMENT FOR IMMIGRANT HEALTHCARE
3. SENATE COMMITTEE VOTES TO FUND ABORTIONS IN OBAMACARE
4. 138 MEMBERS OF CONGRESS DEMAND TO BE HEARD ON ABORTION ISSUE
5. SENATE PANEL DEFEATS HATCH "CONSCIENCE CLAUSE" AMENDMENT
6. SENATE PANEL REJECTS PUBLIC HEALTH INSURANCE OPTION
7. RUSH: OBAMA READY TO "FORCE" OBAMACARE THROUGH CONGRESS

1. GET FREE HEALTH CARE -- IN JAIL!

Senator Max Baucus' (D-MT) latest "bi-partisan" healthcare bill has been criticized by Republicans and Democrats alike. The liberals in Congress are upset because it does not provide for a public option, while conservatives are upset that it still amounts to a government takeover of healthcare and forces individuals to buy healthcare coverage whether they like it or not. A large percentage of younger workers in our country are healthy and would prefer not to pay for healthcare coverage. Also, many wealthy Americans, who can afford to pay their own bills, don't want to be forced to buy a policy they don't need.

But what, under the Baucus plan, would happen to people who refused to buy health insurance? The bill states that a $1,900 "excise tax" would be assessed. Senator John Ensign (R-NV) asked what would happen to someone who refused to pay the tax. He was told by Tom Barthold, Chief of Staff for the Senate's Joint Committee on Taxation, that the person could be charged with a misdemeanor, face up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $25,000. (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day)

- Whoops! There goes another freedom down the drain. Shame on Sen. Baucus for wanting to put such a law on the American people. How loud must Americans get to make the politicians hear us? Or are the politicians wrists tied in strange knots? Pray that Sen. Baucus can be freed from this onerous obligation he is under. Pray for the Lord to expose all that is taking place around this health plan. Works done in clandestine darkness are not of the Lord.

- "From the wicked who oppress me, From my deadly enemies who surround me." (Psalm 17:9)

2. SENATORS TURN BACK ID REQUIREMENT FOR IMMIGRANT HEALTHCARE

Senate Finance Committee Democrats rejected a proposed requirement that immigrants prove their identity with photo identification when signing up for federal healthcare programs. (The Hill)

- Lord, we ask Your mercy over our nation for allowing illegal aliens all of the privileges of the citizens of America. We pray that You will visit our leaders with Your truth, and help them protect American citizens from paying for illegals.

- "A man to whom God has given riches and wealth and honor, so that he lacks nothing for himself of all he desires; yet God does not give him power to eat of it, but a foreigner consumes it. This is vanity, and it is an evil affliction." (Eccl 6:2)

3. SENATE COMMITTEE VOTES TO FUND ABORTIONS IN OBAMACARE

Today, in the Senate Financial Services Committee, an amendment to prevent federal funding for abortions was defeated by a 13-10 vote. Democrat Senator Kent Conrad from North Dakota voted for Senator Orrin Hatch's amendment and Republican Senator Olympia Snowe from Maine voted against the Hatch amendment.

The Democrat majority on the Senate committee also defied the will of the overwhelming majority of the American people and voted 13-10 against a Hatch amendment providing conscience clause protections for health care workers who do not want to participate in abortions.

Roberta Combs, President of the Christian Coalition of America. "The committee majority defied the will of 75% of the American people who do not want their tax dollars going to fund abortions, even including many of those who support abortions." (Christian Coalition of America)

- Scripture is clear: The shedding of innocent blood brings a CURSE upon a nation. Cry out for Mercy upon the mercy heart of our God; and stand in the gap between a civil government that Defies his law, and the Kingdom government that stands forever. Amen.

- "So you shall not pollute the land where you are; for blood defiles the land, and no atonement can be made for the land, for the blood that is shed on it, except by the blood of him who shed it." (Numbers 35:33) "Therefore He said that He would destroy them, Had not Moses His chosen one stood before Him in the breach, to turn away His wrath, lest He destroy them." (Ps. 106:23)

4. 138 MEMBERS OF CONGRESS DEMAND TO BE HEARD ON ABORTION ISSUE

A bipartisan group of 183 members of Congress sent House Speaker Nancy Pelosi a letter on Monday urging her to allow a vote on an amendment to cut the massive abortion funding and subsidies from the main health care "reform" bill in the chamber. HR 3200 currently allows for both abortion subsidies and mandates and pro-life Democratic Rep. Bart Stupak of Michigan wants the opportunity to propose an amendment to remove the funding from the bill. "We urge you to allow members of the House to vote their consciences with regard to abortion and health care reform by allowing consideration of an amendment to prohibit government funding of abortion," the letter says. The lawmakers say HR 3200 "radically departs from current federal government policy of not paying for elective abortion or subsidizing plans that cover abortion." (LifeNews)

- Offer praise for this bold move, and ask that these members' petition be heard by Speaker Pelosi. Praise God for voices of righteousness in the Halls of Congress.

- "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." (Prov. 14:34)

5. SENATE PANEL DEFEATS HATCH "CONSCIENCE CLAUSE" AMENDMENT

Shortly after the Senate Finance Committee voted against an amendment to remove the massive abortion subsidies from the Baucus health care bill, they rejected a second pro-life amendment. It would have offered protection for medical workers who don't want to participate in or refer for abortions. Sen. Orrin Hatch, a Utah Republican, offered the abortion funding limitation and Hatch also offered his conscience protection amendment, which failed by a vote of 13-10 with pro- abortion Sen. Olympia Snow, a Maine Republican, siding with Democrats on the panel to oppose the measure. Sen. Kent Conrad, a North Dakota Democrat, joined Republicans in supporting the amendment. Without the Hatch amendment, the Baucus bill contains no conscience protections on abortions for employees who don't want to be involved in them or refer for them. (LifeNews.com)

- Pray that some way, somehow, God WILL make a way so that those health care workers who refuse to participate in the shedding of innocent blood through performing abortions would yet have job security. Pray!

- "I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills His purpose for me." (Psalm 57:2)

6. SENATE PANEL REJECTS PUBLIC HEALTH INSURANCE OPTION

The Senate Finance Committee rejected amendments yesterday that would include the so-called "public option" in its version of health care reform legislation. Liberal Democrats failed twice on Tuesday to include a government-run insurance option in the legislation before the committee, the last of five congressional panels completing work on the president's top domestic priority. (Washington Post)

- Rejoice greatly before the Father on this one, a huge victory, effectively drowning out the "public option". Continue fervently interceding that Mr. Obama will soon sign a bill "of the people, by the people, and for the people", leaving every decision about Health Care in the hands of the American people, and not the government.

- "Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer." (Romans 12:12)

7. RUSH: OBAMA READY TO "FORCE" OBAMACARE THROUGH CONGRESS

Please maintain a watchful eye over all developments related to the imminent passage of "Obamacare" -- either this week or next -- in Congress. Rush Limbaugh is reporting that the president is working with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to force H.R. 3200 through Congress this month, as written. Ask our Lord to block passage of this bill until all sections of "Obamacare" have been carefully examined, and voted upon, by this Congress. Pray!

- "He thwarts the plans of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success. He catches the wise in their craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are swept away." (Job 5:12,13)

This Week, Worship Our Lord As . . .

GOD MOST HIGH (Eloheem Elyon)

"I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills His purpose for me." (Psalm 57:2)

I cry out to You, for You hear me and Your ear is not deaf to my cry. O God, You know my heart cry, and only You can fill that empty place inside. By faith, I will wait for Your hand of deliverance, God Most High.
