School Shooting in Colorado

Colorado school shooting leaves at least 1 dead, 7 injured, 2 in custody, sheriff's office says

At least one person was killed on Tuesday after a shooting at a school in Colorado left at least seven others injured, the sheriff's office said.

"It is with extreme sadness that we can confirm that 1 student at the STEM School was killed in today's #stemshooting incident," the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said. "The immediate family has been notified."

The coroner has not officially identified the student, but did state the person who died is an 18-year-old male.

Authorities believe that the two suspects behind the incident at STEM School Highlands Ranch -- an adult male and a juvenile male -- are students, Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock said during a news conference.

The suspects "walked into the STEM school, got deep inside the school and engaged students in two separate locations," the official said. "There were a number of students that were shot and injured."

Of the eight students taken to nearby hospitals, several are listed in critical condition, according to Spurlock. "No staff or officers" were injured, the sheriff's office tweeted.

Focus on Israel

1. Israel commemorates 23,741 fallen soldiers, 3,150 terror victims - Times of Israel

Israelis will pay tribute to the country's fallen soldiers and terror victims starting at 8 p.m. Tuesday, bowing their heads for a minute of silence as sirens will sound around the country, kicking off Memorial Day. In all, 95 new names were added over the past year to the roster of 23,741 soldiers who died defending the country. They include 40 disabled veterans who passed away due to complications from injuries sustained during their service.

Sixteen names were also added to the list of terror victims who perished in attacks, bringing the total to 3,150. Four of them were killed on Sunday by projectiles fired by Palestinian terror groups during a two-day round of intense fighting in and around the Gaza Strip.

2. Netanyahu: Israel Does Not Rush To War, But Will Guarantee Its Existence - Jerusalem Post

Israel does not rush to battle, but its willingness to sacrifice is the guarantor of its existence, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday, just a day after he agreed to a ceasefire in the South instead of a much wider military campaign against Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu's words came at a ceremony in Jerusalem marking Remembrance Day, which began Tuesday evening to commemorate fallen IDF soldiers and Israeli citizens killed in terrorist actions.

Thanks to those who fell, Netanyahu said, "our nation stands upright in our homeland, after generations of weakness and humiliation.

"Seventy-five years ago we were ash," he continued. "Today we are a rising world power. Since our national rebirth in our land, every generation stands firm against those who seek our harm. We do not rush to battle, but we know that our willingness to sacrifice is what guarantees our fate."

3. Islamic Jihad warns of war during summer, calls last flareup 'live fire drill'- Times of Israel

Palestinian Islamic Jihad's Secretary-General Ziad al-Nakhaleh said Tuesday that he expected war with Israel in the coming months, and that his group and Hamas coordinated the outbreak of the most recent round of fighting.

"The last escalation was only a live fire drill in preparation for the major campaign that is coming," Nakhaleh said during an interview with the Hezbollah-linked al-Mayadeen news outlet, according to Hebrew media reports.

Nakhaleh said that Islamic Jihad and Hamas, a jihadist terror organization sworn to Israel's destruction, decided to spark the last round of fighting with the Israel Defense Forces while the two groups were in Egypt to discuss a truce with Israel. Egypt has long acted as a broker between Israel and Palestinian terror groups in Gaza.

4. PA wants EU to replace US in Middle East - Israel National News

The Palestinian Authority asking the European Union to pick up the mantle in defense of the two-state solution if the upcoming US peace plan ditches Palestinian Arab statehood, their UN envoy said Tuesday.

President Donald Trump's administration is expected to unveil the long-awaited plan possibly as early as next month, but the PA has already rejected it as heavily biased in favor of Israel.

PA representative Riyad Mansour told reporters that he urged European officials during recent meetings in Brussels to seize the initiative and not allow the United States to be the preeminent player in the Middle East peace process.

The PA urged the EU to call for an international conference that would reaffirm the global consensus of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and reject the US approach.

We are engaging them," Mansour told reporters about his meetings with EU officials. "They have to act."

5. Qatar Rewards Hamas' Violence to the Tune of $480 Million - Jewish Press

On Tuesday morning, Ismail Haniyeh, Head of Hamas Political Bureau, issued a statement thanking the Qatari Emir's decision to "support the Palestinian people with $480 million," thus concluding yet another successful round of the Hamas terrorist enterprise - attacking civilian populations for ransom.

"Hamas movement welcomes the decision of the Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to allocate $480 million in support of the Palestinian people in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip," Haniyeh stated. "I express my thanks and gratitude to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and to the government and people of Qatar for this honorable move reflecting the generosity of Qatar."

"This honorable decision is a continuation of the unwavering Qatari stances that support the Palestinian people politically and financially, in addition to defending the Palestinian rights at international platforms. The Palestinian people would not forget the positive Qatari stances maintained even at the most difficult circumstances, highlighting the unwavering positive positions of Qatar towards the Palestinian people."

The Daily Brief

1. McConnell rails against Mueller report politics in blistering floor speech: 'Case closed' - Fox News

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, in a scorching floor speech on Tuesday, accused Democrats of rooting for a "national crisis" for political gain as he appealed to lawmakers to move on from the Russia controversy now that Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report is complete. "Case closed," McConnell, R-Ky., declared. Coming as Democrats clash with Attorney General Bill Barr over his handling of the report while using the findings to fuel their own investigations, McConnell suggested the political debate has shifted from the real problem of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

"Many Americans were waiting to see how their elected officials would respond," McConnell said. "With an exhaustive investigation complete, would the country finally unify to confront the real challenges before us? Would we finally be able to move on from partisan paralysis and breathless conspiracy theorizing? Or would we remain consumed by unhinged partisanship, and keep dividing ourselves to the point that Putin and his agents need only stand on the sidelines and watch as their job is done for them?" McConnell said, "Regrettably, I think the answer is obvious." (Read more)

- Father God, we pray Congress will heed these words by the Majority Leader and be about the people's business.

The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion. (Proverbs 28:1)

2. New Gerrymandering Ruling Will Have Big Effects For GOP In 2020 - Daily Caller

A federal three-judge panel ruled Thursday that 34 state and federal district lines in Michigan are unconstitutionally gerrymandered to the benefit of Republicans. The decision comes as the Supreme Court contemplates a pair of cases from Maryland and North Carolina, which ask whether and how the federal courts should police partisan line-drawing.

The Supreme Court has never definitively said that partisan gerrymandering is unconstitutional, nor has it given lower courts guidance for which district lines are excessively partisan, and therefore unlawful. The Maryland and North Carolina cases present the latest opportunity for the courts to bring gerrymanders to heel. Fully aware that their ruling will turn on the Supreme Court's forthcoming decisions, the three-judge panel sent a striking message to the high court, singling the justices out by title while asserting that the judiciary should scrutinize the redistricting process.

The decision requires the state legislature to produce new maps by August 1. The statehouse is controlled by Republicans while Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is a Democrat. (Read more)

- Father, we pray the Supreme Court will render a decision regarding gerrymandering quickly and remove the basis for these challenges.

Let the mountains bring peace to the people, and the hills, in righteousness. (Psalm 72:3)

3. Scott Walker: Republicans need to wake up to Democrats' nationwide judicial power grab - Fox News

Former President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder won't tell the truth when it comes to their redistricting strategy, but here it is: Pick a state, any state, and sue until it's blue. They have spent years and millions of dollars selling the false narrative that Democrats draw "fair maps" while any and all Republican-drawn maps are "partisan gerrymanders." Their primary goal [is] to put redistricting in the hands of unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats and lifetime-appointed judges.

There are plenty of unelected federal judges presiding over these redistricting cases who will enthusiastically toss out constitutionally drawn maps to help elect more Democrats. That's exactly what happened recently in both Michigan and Ohio. It will also not be a surprise if liberal federal panels do the same thing in other states in the coming weeks.

In recent years, we've seen this over and over again and it's time that Republicans wake up to the reality of the Democrats' nationwide judicial power grab. The GOP must stand up and fight back to stop the Democrats' "sue until it's blue" strategy. If we want to continue to be able to implement our pro-growth agenda we need to make sure Republican candidates have the opportunity to make that case to voters across the country. (Read more)

- Father God, You are the true source of all Justice. We pray no one will be able to manipulate the court system to achieve unjust political advantage.

But the Lord Almighty will be exalted by his justice, and the holy God will be proved holy by his righteous acts. (Isaiah 5:16)

4. Trump administration forces China to sell the Port of Long Beach - American Thinker

The Trump Administration's Department of Homeland Security has forced China's state-owned Cosco to sell the Port of Long Beach over security concerns. China's Cosco Shipping Holdings, which bought out its 75 percent-owned Hong Kong-based Orient Overseas International (OOCL), was forced to sell its Port of Long Beach Container Terminal ownership to Macquarie Infrastructure Partners for $1.78 billion.

The Obama administration [approved] OOCL signing a 40-year lease with the City of Long Beach in 2012 for control of America's second largest and most automated container handling operation. China operates six of the world's ten busiest container ports. The Chinese government has also funded the construction and operations of 43 ports in 35 countries under its "One Belt and One Road" (OBOR) initiative launched five years ago, according to China's Ministry of Transport. Under the Macquarie acquisition terms, Orient Overseas International will pocket a $1.29 billion profit and still control vessel and rail traffic at the container facilities for the next twenty years.(Read more)

- Father, thank You for highlighting the need to take back control of this port for National Security interests.

If the house is worthy, give it your blessing of peace. But if it is not worthy, take back your blessing of peace. (Matthew 10:13)

5. Drug Cartels Booming in New Mexico After Feds Shut Down Border Check Points - American Greatness

After two check points were shut down in New Mexico, the presence of Mexican drug cartels is surging in the state. The check points were shut down in order to deploy New Mexico's resources to El Paso, Texas to help with the influx of migrants trying to enter the U.S. from that location.

Otero County last month became the first border community to declare a state of emergency after the federal government shut down two local checkpoints in the area, which had traditionally provided a second line of defense against shipments of drugs and illegal immigrants who managed to sneak through the border at El Paso, about 90 miles to the south.

The state's Democrat governor has pulled 118 National Guard troops from the southern border but Black thinks that might change soon. "We give it six months for the crime statistics to start rising here," he said. "And believe me, all of this is coming to a town near you, all over the country." (Read more)
- Father, we lift up the people of New Mexico and pray for their deliverance from these evil and wicked men.

And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith. (2 Thessalonians 3:2)

6. Trump Proposal Aims To Make It Easier To Deport Immigrants Using Public Benefits - Daily Caller

The Department of Justice has written a draft regulation that, if implemented, would greatly expand the number of immigrants in the U.S. who could be subject to deportation for using public benefits, Reuters reported Friday.

Such benefits include the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly referred to as "food stamps;" Supplemental Security Income (SSI) doled out to the elderly and disabled people; Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF); Section 8 housing vouchers and various Medicaid benefits.

The plan is reportedly still in its early stages, and it may not even become official policy. It must be subject to public comment in order for the proposal to move forward. Attorney General William Barr would also have to give approval. News of the proposal follows other plans by the White House to limit low-income and low-skilled foreign nationals from entering the country. (Read more)
- Father, we pray You will help the Trump Administration implement this needed, common sense regulation and deport those who are abusing our entitlement programs.

"You are more righteous than I," he said. "You have treated me well, but I have treated you badly. (1 Samuel 24:17)

7. The education cabal vs. America's kids - New York Post

Only about 15 percent of America's students have a reasonable understanding of American history. And the numbers look just as bleak in other core subjects. The Programme for International Student Assessment, or PISA, ranks the United States 24th in reading, 25th in science and 40th in math in the world.

Education spending, Milton Friedman said, "will be most effective if it relies on parental choice and private initiative." The godfather of school choice was right then, and he is still right today. Students deserve something different. And actually doing something different demands courage to confront a powerful and pernicious establishment - one that opposes change in education, as establishments tend to do in every other ¬industry. A cabal has rooted itself between students and their education to protect "what is" at the ¬expense of what could be. Instead of pursuing innovations for students, they pursue protections from politicians for themselves. (Read more)
- Father, we lift up the millions of children in our public schools and pray each one will develop their full potential and live a life that honors You.

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:4)

8. Admin Halts Disability Dues Scheme - Free Beacon

Labor organizations will no longer be allowed to skim dues money from the checks of Medicaid patients under new rules adopted by the Trump administration.

The Department of Health and Human Services's Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services adopted a new regulation that will prohibit states from siphoning money from caregiver reimbursements to third parties. The rule takes direct aim at state policies enacted to enrich union coffers. Of the 7,000 public comments filed to the agency in the wake of the proposal, one estimated that more than $1.4 billion has been redirected since 2000.

"State Medicaid programs are responsible for ensuring that taxpayer dollars are dedicated to providing healthcare services for low-income, vulnerable Americans and are not diverted in ways that do not comply with federal law," CMS Administrator Seema Verma said in a release. "This final rule is intended to ensure that providers receive their complete payment." (Read more)
- Father God, we thank You for the millions of healthcare workers who bring comfort and health to so many. May they be blessed with the full amount they have earned.

The worker deserves his wages. (1 Timothy 5:18)

9. Planned Parenthood, NARAL Go To War Against Last Pro-Life Democrat In Congress - Daily Wire

Abortion conglomerate Planned Parenthood is now vowing to fight to oust Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-IL) from his seat due to his being Congress's lone token pro-life Democrat. According to LifeNews, America's top abortion advocacy groups have all endorsed Lipinski's primary challenger, Marie Newman.

The debate over this new abortion litmus test in the Democratic Party began after the fallout of Trump's victory, when the abortion cheerleaders at NARAL criticized Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez for giving a platform to Nebraska pro-life mayoral candidate Heath Mello. Perez sided with NARAL by calling abortion a "fundamental value."

Kristen Day, executive chairwoman of Democrats for Life, has said this impossible litmus test will cost Democrats votes in the long run. "I think it's become much more hard-line now," Day told the Washington Times. "What happened is the pro-choice Democrats kinda felt like Hillary Clinton is going to win, and they made the abortion platform more radical. But what they didn't realize is they alienated pro-life Democrats who didn't vote for her." (Read more)
- Father, thank You for Dan Lipinski's strong stand for life and for Democrats for Life. We pray for a shift in the Democrat party towards the right to life from conception to natural death.

He who follows righteousness and mercy finds life, righteousness, and honor. (Proverbs 21:21)

10. At NYC's largest ever pro-life rally, women, abortion survivors take a stand - Christian Post

For several hours on Saturday, the island in the middle of Times Square between Broadway and Fashion Avenue was transformed into an open-air church for pro-life advocates who rallied against abortion, singing praises to God and sharing testimonies of survival. "We were thrilled with Saturday's turnout, which far exceeded expectations. That close to 20,000 people would jam into New York City's Times Square on a Saturday to celebrate life should encourage everyone who continues to champion and protect the most vulnerable and innocent among us. It was a triumph and the largest pro-life gathering in the history of New York City!" Paul Batura, vice president of Focus on the Family, said in a statement to The Christian Post.

Pendergraft had been listening quietly as other pro-life supporters like Manhattan resident Lee Mason talked about how refreshing and inspiring the event was for pro-life advocates like her in a city where abortion is now legal essentially up until the point of birth. "This is an extremely wholesome development. I hope it happens every week from now on," Mason said. (Read more)

- Father, we celebrate Your creation and You as our loving Creator. We pray this outpouring of love and blessing upon New York City will change hearts and minds to protect the unborn.

In your unfailing love preserve my life, that I may obey the statutes of your mouth.(Psalm 119:88)

The new slogan of the haters

Presidential hopeful Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) came up with a cleaver new slogan over the weekend at a so-called "Freedom Fund Dinner" sponsored by the NAACP. She set it up by first spinning lies to the audience saying, "This guy in the White House said neo-Nazis were fine people when they marched on Charlottesville. He's attacked communities of color and leaders of color by name." Then she delivered: "Let's speak truth here and today. This president isn't trying to make America great. He's trying to make America hate." So in telling lies, and saying they are the truth, Harris rolled out the hate card, just as so many of the actual haters do. Let's examine what she said was true and what is actually true.

First and foremost, disagreeing with people is not attacking them. People like congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) have been spreading hate about President Donald Trump and anyone who supports him by saying that they are racists and bigots. Remember she was one of the crowd of leaders of color who encouraged others to confront anyone who supported Trump-at restaurants, gas stations, and other places of business-and tell them they were not welcome. Imagine the outrage if anyone told Waters or other leaders of color that they were not welcome at a restaurant. Yet if you disagree with these outrageous suggestions that people of a certain political persuasion are not welcome in public, you are the hater?
The other lie of the "make America hate" spinner was about Charlottesville. The President was not referring to neo-Nazis, or the Democratic Party's militant arm Antifa, when he said there were many fine people on both sides protesting in Charlottesville. CNN's Chris Cuomo deceptively edited Trump's remarks to give the impression that the President said there were "very fine people on both sides" of the protest in support of the white supremacists. Trump actually condemned the neo-Nazis and in explaining that many people were present to protest the removal of Robert E Lee's statue from a park, he said, "You had some very bad people in that group (neo-Nazis). But you also had people that were very fine people on both sides." CNN admitted it edited the video footage to give the impression Trump was supporting neo-Nazis.
Trump has said and tweeted enough political fodder that Harris and other Democratic candidates don't have to spin lies about him. Even so, to accuse someone of hate and to stir up those who are predisposed to believe it with lies, is not only horrendous statesmanship, it is extremely bad character. Both Harris and former vice president Joe Biden (D-DE) recently have used this neo-Nazi lie to stir up hate with accusations of hate. If you are looking for offense, you will find offense. If you are looking for hate, you will find hate. It is a sad, sad day when those who are running for our nation's highest office, use lies to pit Americans against one another. Proverbs 13:5 says, "A righteous man hates lying: but a wicked man acts disgustingly and comes to shame." If there is anything we should hate, it's the lie. If you hear a lie, call it out.

Have a blessed and powerful day,

Justice Foundation Launches New Campaign

The Justice Foundation Announces Public Awareness Campaign Regarding Forced Abortion and Safe Haven Laws

The Justice Foundation is pleased to announce the beginning of our three-month public awareness campaign regarding the illegality of forcing women to have abortions and the alternatives available to them.It is illegal to force, coerce or unduly pressure a minor or adult woman to have an abortion in Texas and all other states, yet many people are not aware of this. Forced abortion is illegal in all fifty states.
There are three primary kinds of forced abortion: pregnant teens being forced by their parents or others to abort;boyfriends or husband forcing their pregnant girlfriend/wives to have abortions;and forced abortion as a result of sex trafficking.
If you or someone you know is being forced to have an abortion, call The Justice Foundation for free assistance at 1-866-4-OUTCRY(1-866-468-8279).
We realize that it can be difficult in some cases to deal with unplanned pregnancies. However, there are options available. One of these options includes adoption and the Safe Haven Laws.
In the event that a woman is pregnant or gives birth to a child and is unable or unwilling to take care of the child there are Safe Haven laws in every state.Under Safe Haven laws (which might also be called Baby Drop Off laws), the mother can take her child to a local facility including hospitals or fire stations and leave that unwanted child with no questions asked within a set period of time after birth. Unlike abortion, it is totally free. No legal procedure is involved. She will not be criminally liable for abandonment and the state will arrange a temporary home for that child until eventual adoption. There are over a million people in the United States desperately waiting to adopt newborn infants.
See www.nationalsafehavenalliance.org for the exact law in each state. Click on the interactive map for your state. The National Safe Haven Alliance telephone number is 1-888-510-BABY.
The Justice Foundation will be sharing many wonderful testimonies on Facebook and other social media. The initial launch will begin May 10 on The Justice Foundation Facebook Live page at noon central time. These testimonies will include women who have been forced to have abortions against their will and womenor couples who have adopted children. One story is of Morgan Hill,an amazing young womanwho survived being left in a dumpster. You will also learn more about Safe Haven laws and stories of how they are saving lives.

Signs and Wonders

Active Sunspot

Big sunspot AR2740 is turning toward Earth and crackling with solar flares. The most intense so far registered M1 on the Richter Scale of Solar Flares. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the extreme ultraviolet flash on May 6th.
Radiation from the flare briefly ionized the top of our planet's atmosphere, producing a brownout of shortwave radio signals over Asia and the Indian Ocean: map. Frequencies affected were mainly below 20 MHz. Ships at sea and ham radio operators may have noticed the disturbance on Monday, May 6th, around 05:10 UT.

This sunspot is a big one (especially considering that we are in a deep solar minimum). It is twice as wide as Earth, making it an easy target for backyard solar telescopes. Shahrin Ahmad of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, took this picture on May 5th.
"I was able to see this big sunspot despite bad seeing (2/5)," says Ahmad. "It's incredible for this sunspot to have survived so long!"

Indeed, this is the second time AR2740 has circled the sun. We saw it for the first time in April when it strafed Earth with loud shortwave radio bursts. Now it's back, still big and intact, following a 2-week trip around the farside of the sun. (SpaceWeather.com) Read more.
