North Korea Changes Its Tune:

'Willing to Sit Down Face-to-Face'

A top official says the Kim regime is "open-minded in giving time and opportunity to the US," according to North Korea state media.

The officials continued, "We express our willingness to sit down face-to-face with the US and resolve issues anytime and in any format."

The president canceled the meeting citing North Korea's "tremendous anger and open hostility" towards the US in recent weeks.

"North Korea has the opportunity to end decades of poverty and oppression by following the path of de-nuclearization and joining the community of nations," President Trump said, speaking at a bill signing at the White House Thursday.
. . . Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told a Senate committee that after he met with Kim last month and returned home with three US citizens who had been imprisoned in North Korea, he felt there was a real chance to achieve a historic deal with the rogue regime.

Then, he told senators the lines of communication between our two nations dried up.

"It's not about the deal-it's about the outcome. It's about achieving this permanent, physical change and transformation that will have the opportunity to change the world," Secretary Pompeo told a Senate committee Thursday.

. . . A senior White House official says the ball is now in North Korea's court.

"If and when Kim Jong Un chooses to engage in constructive dialogue, I am waiting," said President Trump. (CBN; May 25th, 2018) Read more.

UPDATE: 2. Trump: US team in North Korea arranging 'for the Summit between Kim Jong Un and myself' - Fox News

President Trump said Sunday that U.S. officials had arrived in North Korea "for the Summit between Kim Jong Un and myself," in perhaps the strongest indication that the much-anticipated meeting could be back on.

"Our United States team has arrived in North Korea to make arrangements for the Summit between Kim Jong Un and myself. I truly believe North Korea has brilliant potential and will be a great economic and financial Nation one day. Kim Jong Un agrees with me on this. It will happen!" Trump tweeted.

"A U.S. delegation is in ongoing talks with North Korean officials at Panmunjom," State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said in a statement about the meeting, reported first by The Washington Post. "We continue to prepare for a meeting between the President and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un." (Read more)

- Lord, it appears the summit may be on again, but we ask for wisdom and discernment for our President. We pray that You would stabilize these talks so that real accomplishments may be made without dangerous concessions to our enemies, and that Your Spirit would move mightily across North Korea.

- "Look to Me and be saved, all you ends of the earth!" (Isaiah 46:22)

2. Report: Israel, Iran engage in indirect negotiations over Syria fighting - Jerusalem Post

Israel and Iran engaged over the weekend in indirect negotiations in Jordan regarding fighting in southwestern Syria, according to Elaph, a Saudi-owned website.

Elaph reported that the Iranians pledged not to participate in expected battles in southwestern Syria between President Bashar Assad's forces and rebel groups, and Israel has made it clear that it will not intervene in the battles in the tri-border area, as long as Hezbollah and the Iranian-backed Shi'ite militias are not involved.

The unconfirmed report said the negotiations were conducted last weekend between Iran's ambassador to Jordan, who was in one hotel room in Amman with Iranian security personnel, while in the next room there were senior Israeli security officials, including the deputy head of the Mossad. The report said a Jordanian mediator carried messages between the sides.

Elaph sources said that "the talks with the Israelis were related to fighting in Syria and the nearing campaign in southern Syria, particularly in Dera'a and Kuneitra." Israel and Iran engaged over the weekend in indirect negotiations in Jordan regarding fighting in southwestern Syria, according to Elaph, a Saudi-owned website.

3. Drone with explosives infiltrates Israel from Gaza - Israel National News

The IDF several days ago located a drone with explosives on the Gaza border that was intended to explode in Israeli territory, it was cleared for publication on Sunday night.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said that "a few days ago, a drone was located after it crossed from the northern Gaza Strip into Israel and fell in the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council. An examination found explosives on the drone."

The terrorists crossed into Israeli territory, threw firebombs at Israeli security personnel, then returned to the Strip after IDF forces opened fire on them.

4. Netanyahu: Israel taking action against arms manufacturing in Lebanon - Times of Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel was taking action against arms manufacturing in Lebanon and threatened continued fighting with Iran Sunday. Netanyahu's stark threat against Lebanon came after Israeli officials have warned repeatedly that Iran may be trying to manufacture advanced missiles in Lebanon to be used against Israel by the Hezbollah terror group.

"We are working to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. At the same time we are working against the establishment of an Iranian military presence against us; to this end we are also operating against the transfer of deadly weapons from Syria to Lebanon or their manufacture in Lebanon. All of these weapons are for use against the State of Israel and it is our right - based on the right of self-defense - to prevent their manufacture or transfer."

Arab claims against Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria will be clarified and the filing of endless petitions to delay the demolition of illegal Arab construction will end under the new law.

Minister Shaked said that "today the Knesset has taken a big step toward normalizing life in Judea and Samaria The rights of residents of Judea and Samaria are no less important than the rights of other citizens. The move will also reduce the heavy burden imposed on the Supreme Court."

8. Iran Threatens to Enrich Nuclear Fuel Higher than Ever If Demands Not Met - BFP

Tuesday, 22 May 2018 | With the United States out of the Iran nuclear deal, the Europeans are striving to keep the accord from collapsing. The Iranians, for now, are playing along-but on this condition: If they don't receive the economic benefits promised them, they will not only exit the deal and go back to their old nuclear program, they'll make it more advanced than ever. And they may just do it secretly, away from the eyes of international inspectors.

"If our interests are not materialized, we will withdraw from the nuclear deal and will enrich [nuclear fuel] to 20% degree or any level that we want out of their sight," Government Spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakh was quoted by the Fars News Agency as saying last week. (Read more)

- Bring the Iranian threats and manipulation before the Lord. Ask Him to reveal the true nature of the Iranian deal to the Europeans and that they will be emboldened to follow the example that President Trump has set. Lift up PM Netanyahu for wisdom as he interacts with nations on the dangers Iran poses. Thank God for being Israel's shield.

- "After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward." (Genesis 15:1)

9. Israel Air Force Hosts 20 Countries for International Conference - BFP

Tuesday, 22 May 2018 | This coming week, the Israeli Air Force [IAF] will be hosting an international conference during which, representatives from more than 20 different countries will come together to discuss international cooperation and regional stability. The representatives are from the United States, Italy, Austria, Brazil, Belgium, India, Holland, Greece, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Croatia, France, Romania, Finland, and other countries.

"The main goals for this event are: one, to basically establish aerial power as a source of stability. We're going to emphasize our technology and values in the IAF. We see this conference as a platform to build and strengthen our partnerships internationally. And last, probably the most important one, is our goal basically to connect these important partners to the State of Israel, to the IDF [Israel Defense Forces], and to the air force," said a senior official in the Israeli Air Force. (Read more)

- Thank the Lord for the nations who are willing to come alongside Israel to bring aerial stability in a tumultuous Middle East. Lift up the air force soldiers and pilots as they learn from each other. Pray that God will use the conference to build and strengthen partnerships.

- "I will lift up my eyes to the hills-from whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth." (Psalm 121:1-2)

10. Louisiana Becomes 25th State to Prohibit Business Ties with Companies that Boycott Israel - BFP

Louisiana on Tuesday became the 25th US state to enact legislation or executive orders against the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement, The Times-Picayune reported.

Gov. John Bel Edwards issued an executive order prohibiting the Louisiana state government from executing contracts with businesses that engage in the boycott of Israel. The order directs the state commissioner of administration to terminate existing state contracts with companies that are either currently boycotting Israel or supporting those who do. The order also stipulates that, moving forward, companies seeking to engage in a state contract will be required to sign an agreement certifying they comply with the new law.

"The United States, and by affiliation Louisiana, have benefited in innumerable ways from our deep friendship with Israel. Any effort to boycott Israel is an affront to this longstanding relationship. I am pleased that Louisiana will join what is now a critical mass of states in supporting our closest ally," Edwards, a Democrat, said in a written statement.

The executive order specifically mentions BDS, and a hope to counter the movement's goals of isolating, and ultimately destroying, the Jewish state. "The state of Louisiana unequivocally rejects the BDS campaign and stands firmly with Israel," the order reads. (Read more)

- Rejoice for the 25 states in the US that have taken a stand for Israel and against BDS. Give thanks for the wonderful relationship that Louisiana shares with Israel and for their desire to bless God's people. Ask God for more states to follow Louisiana's example.

- "I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." (Genesis 12:3)

1. Trump honors fallen service members at Arlington National Cemetery - CNN

President Donald Trump on Monday remembered fallen service members at Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day, calling their love of country "more deep and more pure than most will ever know."

"They marched into hell so that America could know the blessings of peace. They died so that freedom could live," Trump said.

Trump also honored those whose loved ones died in combat, acknowledging "the depth of emotion that this day brings each year" to the families of the fallen.

"To every parent who weeps for a child, to every child who mourns for a parent and to every husband or wife whose heart has been torn in two today we ask God to comfort your pain, to ease your sorrow and to wipe away your tears," Trump said. "This is a very special day and today our whole country thanks you, embraces you and pledges to you we will never forget our heroes." (To read this article and view the President's speech at Arlington National Cemetery yesterday, go here.)

- Father, we continue to pause all through this week, as we will forever remember the fallen. Thank You, Lord, for each one who has given his or her life to secure our freedom. Amen.

- "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." (Revelation 21:4)

2. Ellicott City, Maryland flash floods leave National Guard member missing, devastate town recovering from 2016 deluge - Fox News

Rescuers are searching for a 39-year-old National Guard member Monday who was reported missing a day after he was swept away by fast-moving floodwaters in Maryland's Ellicott City while attempting to rescue people during devastating floods, family and officials said.

Eddison Hermond, of Severn, was reported missing around 12:30 a.m. Monday, hours after sudden, violent floodwaters destroyed businesses, submerged vehicles and left some flipped and in pieces, Howard Co. Exec Allan Kittleman said. Friends and relatives on Facebook said Hermond, a National Guard member, was rescuing people after 4 p.m. Sunday when he was swept away by floodwaters, FOX45 Baltimore reported. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray for this man to be found, and for Your comfort for the people of Ellicott City. May they all find You in the midst of disaster.

"He will call upon Me and I will answer him, I will be with him in trouble."

3. David Hogg makes major miscalculation in Publix boycott - and now the liberal agenda suffers - The Blaze

When liberal activist David Hogg called for a boycott against Publix over the grocery chain's support for pro-gun Florida governor candidate Adam Putnam (R), he likely never imaged the boycott would work. He also likely never imagined his boycott would actually work against the liberal agenda. What's going on?

Publix announced on Friday it would cave (in) to Hogg's demands. The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School senior was upset Publix donated more than a half million dollars to Putnam's campaign. Putnam is an unabashedly pro-gun, pro-NRA Republican.

Hogg was so serious about his protest that he organized a "die-in" protest at his local Publix. The negative coverage proved too much for Publix, which announced Friday it would cease all political donations while the company reviews its policies.

"We would never knowingly disappoint our customers or the communities we serve," company spokesman Dwaine Stevens said in a statement Friday, according to the Orlando Sentinel. "As a result, we decided earlier this week to suspend corporate-funded political contributions as we reevaluate our giving processes."

Problem is, not only did Publix donate to Republican campaigns and conservative causes, but they also donated across the aisle. As Caleb Hull from IJR noted on Twitter, Hogg's boycott also forced Publix to pull out of donating to pro-gay marriage and pro-abortion organizations. Looks like the liberal agenda will temporarily suffer while Publix reevaluates its political donations. (Read more)

- Thank You, Lord. Amen.

- "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)

4. The proposal that could end Democratic obstruction of Trump's judicial nominees - Washington Examiner

President Trump is working to fulfill his campaign promise to seat judges who respect both the rule of law and the Constitution. Trump fulfilled this pledge when he nominated Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, who has a strong record of interpreting the law as it is written, not as he wishes it were written.

The president should also be commended for nominating similarly fair-minded and qualified judges for lower courts. Thanks to the hard work of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, 38 of these well-qualified nominees have been confirmed.

But liberal senators, led by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., continue to obstruct the president's nominees by abusing Senate rules and procedures. As a result, total judicial vacancies are ballooning. When Trump took office, there were 108 judicial vacancies. Now, there are 176 current and known future judicial vacancies. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that all of the obstructionist actions of the Democrats will be put down, and that You will make a way to confirm these Conservative nominees.

- "Let God arise and His enemies be scatted; Let those who hate Him flee before Him." (Psalm 68:1)

5. Cindy McCain Set to Succeed Husband in Senate - Newsmax

As Arizonans prepare for their final salute to Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., Republicans and political pundits in the state privately tell Newsmax they expect the appointment of his wife, Cindy, to succeed him in the Senate.

Of course, no one in the Grand Canyon State who spoke to us wants to go on record discussing what will happen when the ailing McCain no longer holds his seat. But those who did, agree almost unanimously, Cindy McCain following John in the Senate through appointment by Gov. Doug Ducey, R-Ariz., is a near certainty.

"I've always assumed that was the arrangement," said a friend of the McCain family since John's 1973 return from captivity in Vietnam. A former Republican senator who served with McCain agreed: "I don't know if this [succession] has been formalized, but that's what people who know John tell me." (Both of those who spoke to Newsmax did so under promise of anonymity).

One source close to the McCain family said supporters of the senator have quietly let Gov. Ducey know Cindy is the choice of "Team McCain." (Read more)

6. The Evangelical Fight to Win Back California - NYT

Franklin Graham stood in a packed locker room at the Rose Bowl, surrounded by fellow evangelists, pastors, and his top Los Angeles donors. It was two weeks before the California primary, and Mr. Graham was urging them to take a stand against their state's "blue wall."

The blue wall of California, Mr. Graham told the gathering, represents secular values that have taken root on the country's west coast. "Progressive?" he went on, "That's just another word for godless." Now is the time for churches to "suck it up" and vote.

"We're tired of being stepped on," Felix Martin del Campo, a board member of Samaritan's Purse, Mr. Graham's international humanitarian organization, said in an interview as the meeting ended and worship music played. "Only as we change the heart of the people of California can California go red again." (Read more)

- Father, we pray for Your people in California who have been caught in the rising tide of actions against Your Word. We ask with repentance and love in our hearts for the voters to rise up and push back against this flood of evil.

- "When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Lord will raise up a standard against him." (Isaiah 59:19c)

7. 'Active shooter' video game prompts outrage in wake of mass shootings - Fox News

"Active Shooter," a video game that allows players to simulate a school shooting, prompted outrage in the wake of multiple mass shootings at American schools. The game is set to be released on June 6 and will be available on Steam, a digital distribution platform developed by Valve. Players are given the option to either be a SWAT team member or the shooter while simulating a shooting in a school environment.

"Pick your role, gear up and fight or destroy!" the game description on the website says. "Only in 'Active Shooter', you will be able to pick the role of an Elite S.W.A.T team member or the actual shooter," the website reads. "Depending on the role, your objective might be to protect and extract or hunt and destroy."

The developer, on the game's Steam page, says "please do not take any of this seriously," but that is unlikely to mollify critics. (Read more)

- Father, for decades Christians have pleaded with TV, movies, and the gaming industry to stop producing games and shows that have no moral compass and are simply graphic violence. We ask that You would move in the matter of this evil game and prevent it from being released.

- "Evil shall slay the wicked, and those who hate righteousness shall be condemned." (Psalm 34:21)

8. Right-wing activist Tommy Robinson reportedly jailed after filming outside child grooming trial - Fox News

U.K. right-wing activist and journalist Tommy Robinson was arrested and reportedly jailed Friday after he filmed members of an alleged child grooming gang entering a court for trial -- but the details of his purported sentence remain murky after the judge ordered the press not to report on the case.

Robinson, the former head of the English Defense League and a longtime activist against Islam and Islamic migration, was arrested after he was filming men accused of being part of a gang that groomed children. Britain has been rocked by a series of child sex scandals perpetuated by gangs of predominantly Muslim men. (Read more)

- Lord, this man has been sounding the alarm in Britain now for a long time, and has been continually punished for speaking out. We ask that You not allow hate speech laws to come to the United States, and that Your angels stand with us as we pray in power against the demonic realms of Islam. We also pray for the safety of this man inside the prison.

- "Behold, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you." (Luke 10:19)

9. The Emerging China-Iran-Pakistan Alliance Is Directed DECIDEDLY Against The United States - Daily Caller

In a January 10, 2018 Daily Caller article titled "China May Have Just Brokered An Iran-Pakistan Accommodation," I outlined the extensive diplomatic and military initiatives underway in the past year to foster reconciliation between Iran and Pakistan, orchestrated behind the scenes by China.

That strategy supports the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), China's blueprint for global hegemony. It is a development plan, a program of infrastructure projects and a network of commercial agreements designed to link the world directly to the Chinese economy through inter-connected land-based and maritime routes.

As French Asia expert, Nadége Rolland noted, BRI is soft power projection with an underlying hard power component, a comprehensive China-centered economic, financial and geopolitical web with far-reaching, cascading consequences affecting American national interests. It is not just resource acquisition or utilization of China's industrial over-capacity, but projects specifically designed to ensure economic and, in parallel, military dominance. (Read more)

- Lord, we praise You that this plan has come to light, and we ask that You cover the United States and Israel against any and all actions that would be harmful to us.

- "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn." (Isaiah 54:17)

10. Russia Calls For Iran to Leave Syria While Assad Regime Restricts Bases From Iranian Use- Breaking Israel News

In the wake of Israeli airstrikes, sources in Syria are reporting that their government is refusing to allow the Iranian military from using their bases. At the same time, Russia is calling for Iran to leave the region bordering Israel.

Zaman Al Wasl, the Syrian opposition newspaper, cited General Ahmed Balloul, head of the Bashar al-Assad regime's air force, as saying that their airports are now restricted to Syrian army personnel. He said this comes as a result of reported Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian forces in Syria. Strikes attributed to Israel against Syrian bases have killed about 40 Iranian military personnel. On Thursday night, an air base in western Syria was targeted in an airstrike.

A report in Haaretz stated that Israel suspects there are some 2,000 Iranian troops currently in Syria. In addition almost 9,000 Shiite militia from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq and another 7,000 members of the Hezbollah terror group are thought to be operating in Syria, according to the report.

This ban against Iranian military forces in Syria comes after a meeting between Assad and President Vladimir Putin last Thursday in which the Russian leader called for all foreign forces to leave Syria. (Read more)

- Lord, this is a significant development in the Syrian war. We thank You for this news and ask that Iran leave Syria without delay, and pray the Your Spirit will move across both nations in the Mighty Name of Jesus!

- "If you ask anything in My name, I will do it." (John14:14)

Memorial Day and Reflections of Hope

Some time ago, I was re-watching the movie "Midway." Six months after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, they were trying to set a trap for the US Navy and destroy it. The American commanders actually set a trap of their own and the highly outnumbered US forces won a decisive victory. I am always humbled by the selfless and heroic efforts made by the World War II generation. They sacrificed their lives for something they believed was bigger than them. They knew the value of family; the power of God; and that life and liberty was foundational to being an American, and it was worth fighting for. They were defined by their courage and character, their dedication to what was right and good.

For me, Memorial Day was always a solemn day first, and a day of great celebration second. Growing up, our 4-H horse club always participated in the Memorial Day Parade that wound through Rootstown, Ohio and ended up at the cemetery. There, we faced the graves of those who served their country, many who died that we might live free. Our horses were to stand at attention, and we were to sit on them, also at attention, our hats removed, as the speakers honored America's finest. Afterwards, we would load up the horses and head back to the farm, where we had a cookout, usually with Warren and Sue McCarthy, Gene and Betty Flynn, Bob and Doris Harris and their families.

Warren and Gene served on D-Day. They survived it. And they were decorated war heroes. Not much of what they did was ever discussed. But you somehow knew that they were special. My dad, who was a farmer during the war, was best friends with these men. He knew what went on, but would never say. They were among the finest men I knew growing up. My uncle Bob Harris served in the Philippines. There were times when he had flashbacks. My dad would get a call from my aunt and he would find Uncle Bob, talk him down and hold him until the terror passed. He, too, was a decorated hero. All these men knew the price of freedom and they understood their civic duty to their families, their God and their country.

I'm sure you have stories as well about the brave men and women who served in our nation's armed forces. President Ronald Reagan remembered veterans in his speech May 26, 1986. He said, "If we really care about peace, we must stay strong. If we really care about peace, we must, through our strength, demonstrate our unwillingness to accept an ending of the peace. We must be strong enough to create peace where it does not exist and strong enough to protect it where it does." To me, there will never be peace on earth until the Lord returns. Jesus said, however, in Matthew 5:9, "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." Many have sacrificed themselves that we may have peace and freedom. Let us honor their deeds.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Breaking News from Israel

For the First Time Ever, a Jewish-Christian Party Will Participate in Israel's Election

Dennis Avi Lipkin founded the BibleBloc Party, which he says has been in the making for years.

"Our goal is to promote the Jewish-Christian alliance and togetherness," Lipkin tells The Jerusalem Post. "For 2,000 years, Jews and Christians hated each other. When Israel faces an existential threat of Islamic terrorism, we need a Judeo-Christian love party."

The Jerusalem Post reports the list will alternate between Jews and Christians, starting with Lipkin, followed by a Christian who lives in the Druse village of Usfiya. Part of the party's platform will be to send Jewish and Christian supporters of Israel to speak on the country's behalf around the world. The party will seek the support of non-Jewish Russian immigrants from the former Soviet Union and their spouses and Christian Arabs.
"The Biblical bloc protects everyone who believes in the Bible and opposes the ethnic cleansing of Jews and Christians from the land of Israel," according to the Jewish Press. "The Biblical bloc represents parties all over the world who espouse Judeo-Christian, democratic Western culture."

Esther Fleece Allen of Alliance for the Peace of Jerusalem says, "It is good to see someone like Avi Lipkin recognizes the level of support that non-Jews bring to the vitality of Israel. The Alliance for the Peace of Jerusalem is committed to praying for all who seek the good of those who live in the Holy Land."

"We're finally doing what we said we were going to do a quarter of a century ago and that is to move our embassy to Jerusalem. And then on another level is, I think America is coming into alignment with Biblical truth. I mean this is, it doesn't matter what the United States says-this is the capital Jerusalem. It was bought and paid for. David declared it to be the capital of Israel, and so I think we're just coming into line and alignment with Biblical truth," retired Army Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin says. Exclusive Video: Vice President Pence Tells Pastors:

'Share The Gospel!'

In a last-second surprise appearance before a pastors conference in Washington DC, Vice President Mike Pence outlined how the Trump administration has championed causes important to the evangelical community and implored them to continue to, "share the good news of Jesus Christ."

"Other than the service of those who wear the uniform of the United States especially our cherished fallen, the ministries that you lead and the prayers that you pray are the greatest consequence in the life of the nation," the vice-president told those attending the 2018 Watchman on the Wall conference sponsored by the Family Research Council.

"Keep preaching the good news. Keep preaching in season and out of season as the Bible says. Always be prepared to give a reason for the hope that you have," he continued. (CBN News) Read more and view this speech here.

Hawaii volcano latest: Kilauea lava breaches Puna Geothermal power plant, forces more Big Island evacuations

Lava from the Kilauea volcano covered at least one well Sunday at a geothermal power plant on the Big Island, according to a Hawaii County Civil Defense report. The well was successfully plugged in anticipation of the lava flow, and a second well 100 feet away has also been secured, according to the report. The plugs protect against the release of gas that could turn toxic when mixed with lava.

The lava breached the property overnight. David Mace, a spokesman for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, said the flow started about 200 yards away from the nearest well. But he said safety precautions went into effect before the breach.

"I think it's safe to say authorities have been concerned about the flow of lava onto the plant property since the eruption started," he said.

The Hawaii Civil Defense Agency said all the wells remained "stable and secure" in a statement released Sunday night. (CBS News) Read more.

The Good News Corner

How the Holy Spirit Prepared the Southwest Crew for That Incredible Emergency Landing

One of the plane's engines had just exploded. The debris broke a passenger's window, and the passenger was partially sucked out, eventually dying from her wounds.

But through it all, Shults knew the Peace that surpasses all understanding was with her, and she says now sees just how God was already preparing her heart earlier that day. She was far from the only Believer manning the plane that day.

First Officer Darren Ellisor and flight attendants Rachel Fernheimer, Seanique Mallory and Kathryn Sandoval shared their testimony on CBS This Morning.

"Well, in LaGuardia, when we had a little extra time, we were chatting, and Rachel had gotten a new Bible with room to journal on the side, and she and Seanique and then Kathryn were talking about she was in a study of Psalms, which is where I'm doing a study in Psalms and Proverbs," Shults said of the meeting the crew had before the flight. "When you talk about things deeper than the weather, your family and faith, the things that matter to you, even if they're different, it tends to bring a bond."
Mallory said: "Well, it was the peace that God had given us all. It's a peace that surpasses all understanding. Like Tammie Jo said, we came together beforehand and we all talked about God, and not knowing what was going to happen minutes later, God had already prepared us without us even knowing."

About CHPP

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
