1. Trump hails 'rebellion' by local California lawmakers against state's 'sanctuary' laws - Fox News

President Trump on Wednesday praised local California leaders for standing up to "deadly and unconstitutional sanctuary state laws" and hailed what he called a "rebellion" against the state's immigration policies.

"Each of you has bravely resisted California's deadly and unconstitutional sanctuary state laws," Trump said at the White House roundtable of local officials on the issue. "You've gone through a lot, too, although it's become quite popular what you do."

The roundtable featured a number of California Republican lawmakers and law enforcement officials who have pushed back against the state's sanctuary laws which limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

Among those there with Trump were Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Thomas Homan and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.

"They are breaking down society by breaking down the rule of law," McCarthy said. A Republican official told Politico ahead of the meeting that it was "a show of force."

. . . "We need help Mr. President," San Jacinto Mayor Crystal Ruiz said. "We need help protecting the city of San Jacinto, Escondido, the state of California."

"Don't give up the fight," Trump urged Ruiz. (Read more)

Please note:

According to Fox 11, jurisdictions that have either filed amicus briefs supporting the federal lawsuit or who have joined it include Newport Beach, Orange, Huntington Beach, Mission Viejo, Aliso Viejo, Fountain Valley, San Juan Capistrano and Yorba Linda. Also, this week, the city of Santa Clarita can be added to this list -- the first city in the County of Los Angeles to support the federal lawsuit. For details, go here.

- Father, we lift up all cities in California who are now obeying the federal mandate rejecting the policy of naming cities as "sanctuaries" for illegal aliens in America. We thank You that each one is obeying the rule of law, and we ask that, by Your Spirit, many other cities would do the same. We ask this in Your name, amen.

- "'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty."
(Zechariah 4:6)

2. Gina Haspel, CIA pick, easily clears intel committee - Washington Times

Gina Haspel's nomination as the next CIA director looked assured on Wednesday, triggering questions over what changes she could bring to the CIA's direction and clout with President Trump when she formally replaces Mike Pompeo as director.

The longtime undercover officer on Wednesday passed her first Senate hurdle to becoming the first woman to lead the CIA, winning approval of the Senate Intelligence committee after navigating a lengthy debate over the agency's harsh interrogation programs conducted on terror suspects after 9/11.

The 10-5 vote saw two Democrats join Republicans, including committee Vice Chairman Mark Warner, who said she'll be a capable and independent leader.

Attention now turns to the full Senate, which must vote on her nomination, but Mr. Warner's support coupled with additional Democrats who pledged their backing, signal she's likely to be approved.

After praising Ms. Haspel as "the right woman at the right time" to head the CIA, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Wednesday, said the chamber would soon vote on her "expeditiously" but he didn't announce a specific date or time. (Read more)

- Father, we pray Gina Haspel will continue now to find favor with the full Senate, leading to her confirmation as the Director of the CIA.

- "The work is being carried on with diligence and is making rapid progress under their direction." (Ezra 5:8)

3. Senate panel backs 2017 intel report on Russian meddling - Fox News

Senate Intelligence Committee leaders on Wednesday backed the 2017 intelligence community report that formally accused Russia of trying to interfere in the U.S. presidential election to boost then-candidate Donald Trump. (Read more)

- Lord God, we thank You for this Senate report, and we ask that appropriate actions now be taken, so that our future elections cannot be influenced by any foreign entity. In Your Name, amen.

- "Ask, and it shall be given you . . . " (Matthew 7:7)

4. Mueller told Trump's legal team he will not indict the president, Giuliani tells Fox News - Fox News

President Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani told Fox News on Wednesday that special counsel Robert Mueller told Trump's legal team two weeks ago he will follow Justice Department guidance saying a sitting president cannot be indicted. This is a developing story. (Read more)

- Father God, this truly is a breakthrough day . . . with lots of historic, late-breaking news! We thank You for this report, as we continue to pray that the entire Mueller "witch hunt" will soon fall apart, and come to nothing. We ask in Your Name, amen.

- "I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." (I Kings 2:1,2)

5. DOD, DHS Increasingly Concerned About Drone Attacks - CNSNews.com

Drone incursions over U.S. military installations are an "increasing problem," Defense Secretary Gen. James Mattis told the Senate Armed Services Committee on Wednesday: "It's only a matter time before the threat manifests in a -- in a violent way," Mattis said. One day earlier, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen also expressed concern about drone incursions at the U.S. border: "It's only a matter of time, we fear, when we watch them use it to actually transfer IEDs or other explosive materials," Nielsen told the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security.

- Father, we praise You that these two agencies are on the job, 24/7, to spy out and to take down any drones that would threaten our safety. Help each agent who is assigned to this difficult task to be graced with supernatural strength and alertness as they carry out this mission, in Your Name, amen.

- "For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways."
(Psalm 91:11)

6. Pompeo: 'America's Interest Here is Preventing the Risk that NK Will Launch a Nuclear Weapon Into LA' - CNSNews.com

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Fox News yesterday that the ultimate purpose of the deal the President Donald Trump wants to strike with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is to ensure that North Korea gives up the capability of being able to strike the United States with a nuclear weapon.

Pompeo also indicated that the U.S. is ready to assure the North Korean regime that the U.S. will not threaten its continued existence if it agrees to this.

"But make no mistake about it: America's interest here is preventing the risk that North Korea will launch a nuclear weapon into L.A. or Denver or into the very place we're sitting here this morning," Pompeo said in an interview with Chris Wallace. (Read more)

- Father God, we thank You for placing Mike Pompeo to serve as our Secretary of State. Secretary Pompeo is a man of great integrity who serves you, continually, in spirit and in truth. We ask for a great outpouring of prayer support for Secretary Pompeo as he continues to guide our President through the tricky waters of relations with North Korea. In Your Name, amen.

- "When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him." (Proverbs 16:7)

7. Black Trump Supporter Harassed at Cheesecake Factory - Liberty Counsel

Employees at a Miami Cheesecake Factory harassed and threatened a 22-year-old African American man for wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat on Mother's Day.

Eugenior (Eugene) Joseph, a 22-year-old supporter of President Trump, was having a Mother's Day lunch last Sunday with his girlfriend's family when the employees threatened and mocked him.

A large, intimidating African American male employee was standing near their table, staring at them angrily, pounding his clenched fist into his open hand. Another said, "I want to hit him so hard I knock that hat off his head." A woman who worked at the restaurant spotted Joseph and approached him as he sat at his table. She began pointing at his hat and gesturing for about a dozen other employees to approach Joseph's table and make menacing gestures as if to prepare for a physical fight. Some also referred to Joseph as the N-word while speaking to one another. Other employees in the kitchen were heard booing Joseph. (Read more)

- Father God, we are so distressed to have read this report from our friends at the Liberty Counsel. Holy God, this has to stop! We ask that, by Your Spirit, You would move deeply on the hearts of all African-Americans who still harbor wounded spirits and bitterness within. We thank You, Lord God, that it is written that NOTHING is too difficult for You, so we ask for this miracle of healing and reconciliation now in Your Name, amen.
- "Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'" (Matthew 19:26)

"I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 16:19)

8. Volcanoes. Geysers. Earthquakes. Mother Earth is doing all kinds of scary stuff in the US right now - CNN

Like they say, when it rains, it pours ... and erupts and flows and shakes and swelters and blows and generally wreaks havoc around the country. It's not like we're looking at the end of times, but you have to admit there's a lot of wild and scary Mother Nature stuff happening across the US right now. The devastating lava flows in Hawaii are probably the scariest, but geysers, earthquakes and heavy rains are rattling the Earth from California to Florida. And we're just entering tornado and hurricane season. Is it anything to be alarmed about? Not necessarily, but all these crazy natural happenings coming at the same time make a fascinating coincidence. (Read more)

- Father, we repent for attributing these events to other gods, such as Pele or the mother earth god Gaia. May these events turn our people to You, the One, True, Living God.
- You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them (Exodus 20:3-5)

1. IDF attacks Hamas targets in Gaza - Israel National News

The IDF on Wednesday night attacked, using IAF aircraft, terrorist targets belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization in northern Gaza. Four different targets were attacked in a military compound, including terrorist buildings and infrastructure, said the IDF Spokesperson's Unit. In addition, three additional targets were attacked at a weapons production facility.

The air strikes were in retaliation for the heavy machine gun fire at the city of Sderot and several shooting incidents directed at IDF soldiers during the day on Wednesday. "The Hamas terrorist organization is solely responsible for what is going on in the Gaza Strip and it will bear the consequences for the terrorist acts being carried out from Gaza against the citizens and sovereignty of Israel," the IDF Spokesperson said.

2. Guatemala follows US, moves embassy to Jerusalem - World Israel News

Guatemala made history on Wednesday when it moved its embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv, two days after the US made the same move.

Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and several heads of state from both countries were present at the momentous ceremony. "It is not a coincidence that Guatemala is opening its embassy in Jerusalem two days after the US. You are always among the first," Netanyahu said. Guatemala supported the creation of the State of Israel in 1948 and was the second country to recognize it, after the US. "We remember our friends and Guatemala is our friend, then and now."

"We share so many goals and values even though were are so far away," Netanyahu stated, saying he would advance the bilateral relationship in "practical ways."

3. IDF: Dozens of known terrorists among border riot fatalities - Israel Hayom

A senior Israel Defense Force commander said on Tuesday that of the 58 Gazans killed during deadly border riots on Monday, 14 were carrying out attacks and 14 others were known terrorists affiliated with Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Israeli troops killed two Palestinians rioters on Tuesday, during Hamas-orchestrated Nakba Day demonstrations on the border, marking the displacement of Palestinians during Israel's 1948 War of Independence.

Still, the international criticism leveled at Israel and Hamas over Monday's deadly riots prompted Hamas to pull back, as Tuesday's protests were far less violent than expected. Only 4,000 violent rioters demonstrated along the border fence with Gaza on Tuesday, significantly fewer than the 40,000 who rioted there Monday. Despite the reduction in number, they also hurled Molotov cocktails, set tires on fire and sent incendiary kites into Israeli territory.

The military said troops opened fire at protesters who were hurling firebombs and grenades at the troops, as well as on terrorists who had fired on them and tried to set off explosives by the security fence.

4. Erdogan: Hamas is not a terrorist organization
-Israel National News

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday evening claimed that Hamas is not a terrorist organization as he continued to attack Israel over the violence in Gaza.

"Reminder to Netanyahu: Hamas is not a terrorist organization and Palestinians are not terrorists. It is a resistance movement that defends the Palestinian homeland against an occupying power. The world stands in solidarity with the people of Palestine against their oppressors," he tweeted.

Earlier on Tuesday, Erdogan accused Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu of having blood on his hands. "Netanyahu is the PM of an apartheid state that has occupied a defenseless people's lands for 60+ yrs in violation of UN resolutions. He has the blood of Palestinians on his hands and can't cover up crimes by attacking Turkey," Erdogan tweeted. Netanyahu later fired back, saying, "A man who sends thousands of Turkish soldiers to hold the occupation of northern Cyprus and invades Syria will not preach to us when we defend ourselves from an attempted infiltration by Hamas."

5. Turkey humiliates expelled Israeli ambassador; Israel responds in kind -
World Israel News

In an exchange of insulting gestures, Turkey and Israel subjected each other's diplomats to public security checks that are normally not carried out on government officials, inviting the media to record and broadcast the proceedings.

First, Eitan Na'eh went to the airport Wednesday after being told to leave Turkey following Monday's violence at the Gaza-Israel border that allegedly resulted in some 60 Palestinian deaths and 2,700 injuries, infuriating President Recep Erdogan. Before getting on his plane, however, he had to pass through Turkish security, which made sure to pat him down, take off his shoes and have a scan of his hands - all in front of a pre-invited Turkish media corps.

"This was a deliberate humiliation," an Israeli political source stated, according to Kan News. "The journalists were invited to the field and put into the sterile area of the Turkish Airlines flight, where a security check is carried out just before boarding the plane."

In retaliation, the Israeli press was invited to the Foreign Ministry when the Turkish charge d'affairs in Tel Aviv was summoned "for a dressing down," as the ministry put it in a statement. The media then filmed Umut Deniz's entrance to the building, where a security guard checked his passport and diplomatic documents and subjected him to a security screening.

1. DACA rebellion picks up steam in House - Washington Times

The pro-Dreamer GOP rebellion is now just five votes shy of success after two more Republicans signed onto the petition drive Wednesday seeking to force the House to vote on legal protections for illegal immigrants in the DACA program. Republican Reps. John Katko of New York and David A. Trott of Michigan added their names to the push, bringing the total to 20 Republicans so far. If they get to 25 names, and all of the chamber's Democrats also sign, it will force the Dreamer debate onto the floor of the House, over the objections of GOP leaders.

The new signatures came just hours after House Speaker Paul D. Ryan pleaded with his troops not to sign, saying it undercut fellow Republicans' control of the chamber. "We think they're a big mistake. They dis-unify our majority," he told reporters after a closed-door meeting with House Republicans. "We don't want to advance something that we know won't become law, and just get vetoed, even if it made it to the president's desk. We want to advance something that has a chance of going into law, where the president would support it," Mr. Ryan said.

The petition was launched May 9 by Rep. Carlos Curbelo, Florida Republican. His plan would set up a debate involving four different immigration bills, and whichever gets the most votes would emerge the victor. One of those bills would likely be a "clean" Dream Act, which would grant citizenship rights to millions of illegal immigrants without any other border security or immigration enforcement changes. Another bill would grant citizenship in exchange for a study of border security. (Read more)

- Father God, we pray for a comprehensive and long-term solution to our immigration issues - and now is as good a time as any! We pray for the solution our nation needs to be the final product of this legislative process.

- Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1)

2. Four socialist-backed candidates win Pennsylvania legislative primaries -
The Hill

Four Democratic candidates backed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) won primary elections for legislative seats in Pennsylvania on Tuesday. In the Pittsburgh area, Summer Lee and Sara Innamorato, Democrats who are both members of the DSA, won primaries for state House Districts 34 and 21. Lee and Innamorato defeated state Reps. Paul Costa and Dom Costa, both Democrats. They do not have Republican opponents in the general election.

In Philadelphia, Democrats Elizabeth Fiedler and Kristin Seale won legislative primaries for House Districts 184 and 168. Fielder does not have a GOP opponent in the general election, while Seale will take on Rep. Christopher Quinn. The DSA hailed the legislative victories as a huge moment for the socialist movement. Arielle Cohen, co-chair of the Pittsburgh DSA chapter, told HuffPost that she feels a "monumental shift" after the victories, noting DSA's growing membership since President Trump's election. "We won on popular demands that were deemed impossible. We won on health care for all, we won on free education," she said. "We're turning the state the right shade of red tonight," she added. (Read more)

- Father, we lift up the state of Pennsylvania and the recent districting changes that made this outcome possible. We pray the people in these districts will reject socialism and have the opportunity to choose other Representatives.

- Who, then, are those who fear the Lord? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose. (Psalm 25:12)

3. The Memo: Elizabeth Warren steals show at 2020 audition - The Hill

Democratic jockeying for the 2020 presidential race was on full display Tuesday as a host of likely contenders addressed liberal activists in Washington. It was Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) who ultimately won the day with a full-throated assertion of the need for Democrats to hew closely to a base she characterized as "angry and scared" about President Trump's impact on the nation. Warren argued at the Center for American Progress's (CAP) Ideas Conference that the Democratic Party is "the party of ideas." But she added, "The sad truth is, most of these ideas won't go anywhere unless we deal with the defining crisis of this moment in our history - Democracy is crumbling around us." Warren appeared better able to synthesize anti-Trump anger with a more positive policy platform than any other speaker.

Numerous speakers asserted the need to offer something more than a check on the president ahead of this year's midterm elections. "We cannot simply resist," CAP President and CEO Neera Tanden said. "We need an affirmative vision that serves as an alternative to Trumpism." "Look, there is a broad spectrum. We have Doug Jones, Bernie Sanders and a lot of people inbetween," she added, referring to the newly elected senator from Alabama and the independent Vermonter who surprised many observers with the strength of his challenge to Clinton in 2016. Sanders, who is widely expected to run for president again in 2020, was enthusiastically received, especially in his calls to "dismantle the oligarchy" of "multibillionaires." (Read more)

- Father, we lift up our elections and pray for true servants of the American people to run and be elected to office.

- When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan. (Proverbs 29:2)

4. Likely Democratic 2020 presidential contenders follow millennials in embrace of socialist idea - Washington Times

You would think any political theory that resulted in the deaths of 100 million people would have been discredited by now, but socialism is back in style. Dozens of Democrats running for local office have embraced the socialist label, and national party leaders are advocating bigger government as they jockey for position on the left wing of the party. Millennials who prefer socialism to capitalism are helping shift the Democratic Party to the left on the economy.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York and Mr. Sanders have endorsed a "federal jobs guarantee" program introduced last month by Sen. Cory A. Booker of New Jersey. The legislation would pay every American who wants to work $15 per hour with benefits.

Although national leaders of the Democratic Party, with few exceptions, have shied away from the socialist term, candidates running for local office have embraced the label as a badge of honor. Franklin Bynum recently ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination to become a judge in Houston. "Yes, I'm running as a socialist," Mr. Bynum told The New York Times. "I'm a far-left candidate. What I'm trying to do is be a Democrat who actually stands for something and tells people, 'Here's how we are going to materially improve conditions in your life.' "

The Democratic Socialists of America reports that membership has grown from about 5,000 to 35,000 since the 2016 elections. The number of chapters has swelled from 40 to 181. David North, national chairman of the Socialist Equality Party in the United States, said there are "growing signs that a new period of mass revolutionary struggles by the working class has begun." In a speech published May 6 by the World Socialist Web Site, Mr. North said the presidential election of Donald Trump is the "most visible and ghoulish expression of the universal degeneracy of the capitalist class."

5. Inspector General Horowitz Submits Draft Report of Clinton Email Investigation For Principal Review - ConservativeTreeHouse

Inspector General Michael Horowitz has submitted the "Draft Report" of his OIG investigation to the principals involved. The IG investigation encompasses the FBI and DOJ conduct during the 2015/2016 Hillary Clinton investigation. The Draft Report encompasses the findings. The Draft Report review is the last review phase prior to the Final report being released. The Draft Report review allows the principals to provide input on the facts identified and outlined within the draft. The Draft Report is the first time the DOJ and FBI Principals (only those officials who remain inside the DOJ and FBI) get to see the underlying documentary evidence gathered in the 17-month-long investigation.

Those invited to review the report were told they would have to sign nondisclosure agreements in order to read it, people familiar with the matter said. They are expected to have a few days to craft a response to any criticism in the report, which will then be incorporated in the final version to be released in coming weeks. When the referencing process is completed, the draft report is sent out to the principals for comment on the draft report findings and recommendations. This is where the process is RIGHT NOW. If the principals return comments on the "draft", their comments must be cleared by the person(s) who are doing the reference check, and may be included in the final draft. (Read more)

- Father, we pray no one will be able to tamper with the result of this report, and that it will represent the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

- Have I not written thirty sayings for you, sayings of counsel and knowledge, teaching you to be honest and to speak the truth, so that you bring back truthful reports to those you serve? (Proverbs 22:20-21)

6. President Trump to Give Keynote Speech at Major Pro-Life Group's Gala - Christian Post

President Donald Trump will give the keynote speech at a pro-life organization's annual gala to discuss his administration's anti-abortion efforts. White House Spokesman Raj Shah confirmed Monday that President Trump will speak at the Susan B. Anthony List's 11th annual Campaign for Life Gala on May 22 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. The event will also feature Kellyanne Conway, counselor to the president, who will receive SBA List's 2018 Distinguished Leader Award and Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana, who is a guest speaker.

SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said in a statement that she and her organization were "honored to receive him at our annual Campaign for Life Gala." "President Trump has diligently and successfully gone about fulfilling his promises to the pro-life voters who worked so hard to elect him, and it has been a privilege to stand with him to defend the innocent unborn," stated Dannenfelser. "Unborn children, their mothers, and pro-life taxpayers could not have a stronger ally in the White House than President Trump, and we look forward to the many victories we can achieve together." (Read more)

- Father, we are so grateful for a President and leadership team who are so dedicated to protecting life. We pray for Your blessing and favor to reward them and keep them safe.

- But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3)

7. Trump Admin Alters Obama's Transgender Prison Rules - Christian Post

The Donald Trump administration has altered another Obama-era policy on transgender discrimination, this time changing guidelines that seemingly make it harder for inmates to be placed in federal prisons that correspond with their "gender identity," not biological sex. Last Friday, the U.S. Bureau of Prisons announced changes to the agency's Transgender Offender Manual, which was implemented just days before former Democrat President Barack Obama left office in January 2017. Among the changes is the scratching out of a line that states that BOP officials "will recommend housing by gender identity when appropriate."

According to the new guidelines, it is appropriate to place an inmate in a facility based on gender-identity "only in rare cases where there has been significant progress towards transition as demonstrated by medical and mental health history." The policy change comes after the a group of female prisoners at Federal Medical Center Carswell in Fort Worth filed a legal complaint against the 2017 Obama-era guideline and 2012 regulations that required local, state and federal prisons to consider gender identity when placing transgender inmates. The plaintiffs claim that the rules force them to share facilities with "men who allege they are women."

"It doesn't take a genius to realize that criminals, especially men, would do anything - including lie about their gender identity - to gain access to women. As someone who used to work in the prison system, let me tell you: that's a recipe for disaster," FRC President Tony Perkins said in a statement. (Read more)

- Thank You, Lord, for this recognition of reality and new policies to protect women from exploitation by transgendered men in the prison system.

- Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse, who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways, who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil, whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways. (Proverbs 2:12-15)

8. Trump Signs Executive Order In Attempt To Strengthen IT Infrastructure - Daily Caller

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Tuesday that aims to streamline the processes of acquiring and developing better information technology (IT) infrastructure, among other measures. Specifically, the mandate will "implement successful IT management practices from the private sector," thus empowering agencies with the ability to better safeguard sensitive information, decrease costs "and improve services offered to the public," according to a White House press release. "We're embracing big change, bold thinking, and outsider perspectives to transform government and make it the way it should be, and at far less cost," Trump said in a statement.

"This Administration is committed to modernizing the Federal Government while eliminating antiquated processes," Chief Federal CIO Suzette Kent said in a statement sent to The Daily Caller News Foundation. "President Trump understands CIOs have an important role at their agencies to drive results, and this executive order furthers their ability to be mission enablers in providing the quality service not only to their federal agency but to the American people." (Read more)

- Father, we pray this Executive Order will be effective in streamlining and strengthening our Information Technology platforms.

- He strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you.
(Psalm 147:13)

9. Senators Demand Answers To Medicaid Waste, Threaten Subpoenas -
Daily Caller

Two senators threatened to subpoena a Medicare and Medicaid official in a letter Tuesday over the administrator's refusal to testify on the massive overpayment issue facing the government insurance program. Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson and Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri wrote in a letter that they want Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Seema Verma to testify before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs in June.

Verma has declined multiple requests from the committee, the senators wrote. "The Committee has sought your testimony on this subject matter since April 20; however, you have declined repeatedly to confirm that you will testify," the letter obtained by Politico said. If the administrator does not comply with the request to testify, the senators wrote that they would "seek alternative means to compel [Verma's] testimony."

Of the $596 billion state-federal Medicare and Medicaid programs spent in fiscal year 2017, an estimated $37 billion went to improper payments, a sharp increase from $29.1 billion in 2015, according to the Government Accountability Office. (Read more)

- Father, we pray the Senate will be successful in compelling testimony from Seema Verma and fulfill their oversight responsibility for the Medicare and Medicaid programs.

- I tell you, if friendship is not enough to make him get up to give you the bread, your boldness will make him get up and give you whatever you need. (Luke 11:8)

10. Senate Should Confirm Barry Myers to Lead NOAA - RealClearPolitics

NOAA - the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration - needs its leader! President Trump nominated Barry Lee Myers, the CEO of AccuWeather, to the post in mid-October. The Senate Commerce Committee has twice advanced Myers' nomination to the full Senate. All that's needed to fill this important job is a majority vote on the Senate floor, which both Democrats and Republicans expect to happen. Unfortunately, partisan politics keeps getting in the way, delaying the vote.

Why is moving this along important? The Atlantic Ocean's hurricane season begins June 1; tornado season has already started. In the first few days of May alone, 18 tornadoes were reported in Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma. In addition, 117 severe storms ravaged the Plains. The experienced professionals at NOAA can deal with the daily challenges of severe weather. But bigger decisions to carry out congressionally mandated improvements in hurricane and tornado forecasting require the authority of a Senate-confirmed nominee. As does putting a new hurricane-hunter plane into operation and prioritizing seasonal forecasts for farmers and ranchers. The nation also has a huge seafood trade imbalance that needs the attention of top NOAA leadership.

Prompt confirmation of Myers will benefit the public and the U.S. economy in the days, weeks and months ahead by solidifying the NOAA leadership team. With the unprecedented threat of catastrophic storms, the agency's mission - protecting life and property and expanding American economic competitiveness - is on the line. The Senate should quickly confirm Barry Myers as NOAA administrator. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray for Barry Lee Myers to receive confirmation by the Senate without delay.

- But you, Lord, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me. (Psalm 22:19)

Replaced or Grafted

The historic US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel has drawn praise and excitement from many corners of Christianity, but criticism from other sectors. At the core of the debate is what is called Replacement Theology. Replacement Theology, also called Supersessionism, is the doctrine that the Christian Church has succeeded or replaced the Israelites as the definitive people of God and that the New Covenant supersedes the Mosaic Covenant. It gets into a lot of commentary about who are the Jews, how they were divorced by God, that Israel is not Israel and Jerusalem is not the same Jerusalem that is in the Bible. This is misguided. At the risk of drawing ire, let me explain my position.

The four main covenants that God made with Israel were The Abrahamic Covenant, The Mosaic Covenant, The Davidic Covenant, and, yes, the New Covenant. The Abrahamic Covenant is an unconditional pledge by God that he would make Abraham a great nation and by his descendants all the nations of the earth would be blessed. It is the foundation of God's plan of salvation. The Mosaic Covenant is a conditional two-sided legal agreement between God and Israel similar to a marriage contract where God's people must keep certain requirements to continue to inhabit the land. Exile from the land was punishment for not keeping the covenant, but a temporary one. According to the prophets, the people will repent at the end of days and be re-gathered to the land (Deuteronomy 4:29-31, Jeremiah 32:37-42, Ezekiel 36:24).

The Davidic Covenant is an unconditional promise (2 Samuel 7:8-17) built upon the Abrahamic covenant and provides a King from David's line to restore and rule over Israel in that land as long as the heavens and earth remain (Jeremiah 33:14-26). The New Covenant is also unconditional where God places his Word on the hearts of the Israelites; He is their God, and they are His people; God restores His people to their land; He brings justice to the earth through Messiah, and provides salvation to the Gentiles, which is the mystery of the Gospel found in Ephesians 3:1-7. The New Covenant is actually first announced in Isaiah 59:16-21, with verse 20 saying, "And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, says the Lord."

Jeremiah 31:31-37 is the most detailed of all references to the New Covenant, "Behold the days come, says the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in that day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt: which my covenant they broke . . . I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people . . . for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." Jesus spoke of the New Covenant at the last supper as ratified by his blood. The New Covenant fulfills, but in no way replaces, the other covenants.

The New Covenant with Israel was through the mystery of the gospel, and would include the Gentiles into the full manifestation of God's plan of redemption, as fellow heirs, and of the same body and partakers of God's promise in Christ (Ephesians 3:1-10). In Romans 11, Paul warns the Gentiles to not cast away the Jews or "boast against the branches," "For if the root be holy, so are the branches (v. 16)." Paul says that Gentiles are grafted in and of the Jews in verse 23, "And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again." Replacement Theology is built on the premise that God will not keep his covenants to restore His people to the land of Israel which is found throughout the prophets. Either you believe God keeps his word or you don't. Either you are grafted or you are not.

Classic Hymns

MARCHING TO ZION

"Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion." (Jeremiah 31:6)

Lyrics (Excerpt)

Come, we that love the Lord, And let our joys be known; Join in a song with sweet accord, Join in a song with sweet accord And thus surround the throne, And thus surround the throne.

Refrain

We're marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We're marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.

The sorrows of the mind Be banished from the place; Religion never was designed Religion never was designed, To make our pleasures less, To make our pleasures less.

Refrain

Let those refuse to sing, Who never knew our God; But favorites of the heavenly King, But favorites of the heavenly King May speak their joys abroad, May speak their joys abroad.

Refrain

The God that rules on high, And thunders when He please, Who rides upon the stormy sky, Who rides upon the stormy sky, And manages the seas, And manages the seas.

Refrain

This awful God is ours, Our Father and our Love; He will send down his heav'nly powers, He will send down his heav'nly powers, To carry us above, To carry us above.

Refrain

The men of grace have found, Glory begun below. Celestial fruits on earthly ground Celestial fruits on earthly ground From faith and hope may grow, From faith and hope may grow.

Refrain

Then let our songs abound, And every tear be dry; We're marching through Immanuel's ground, We're marching through Immanuel's ground, To fairer worlds on high, To fairer worlds on high.

Refrain

At least 2 dead, hundreds of thousands without power after violent storms slam Northeast

A powerful storm system pummeled the Northeast on Tuesday with drenching rain, golf-ball-sized hail and damaging winds, leaving at least two people dead and knocking out power to hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses.

An 11-year-old girl in New York was killed when strong winds sent a tree crashing onto the car she was unloading with her mother, FOX5 NY reported. Firefighters used power tools in an attempt to cut away the tree and rescue the girl. The girl's mother suffered minor injuries.

A man in Connecticut was killed when a tree fell on his truck, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton told the Hartford Courant. Fallen trees blocking the roads forced first responders to use a boat to reach the man, who had died before they could arrive.

Boughton asked that state residents remain indoors for the duration of the evening. It was estimated that 108,000 homes were without power Tuesday night, the paper reported.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency in Putnam, Dutchess, Orange and Sullivan Counties. He deployed 125 members of the National Guard to help remove toppled trees and debris, repair downed power lines and assist with traffic control across the state.

"New York has once again withstood the fury of Mother Nature and now is the time for the state and our local partners to get communities throughout the Mid-Hudson region up and running again," Cuomo said.

Possible tornadoes were sighted and more than 130,000 customers lost power. (Fox News) Read more.

- Father God, we lift up all the millions who are now in the path of these ongoing storms all this week, up and down the East coast of our land. We ask that Your Hand of protection would rest upon each one of us, and that the power be restored quickly to the many who are sitting in darkness tonight. In Your name, amen.

"I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke." (Acts 2:19)

Christian "March of Nations" Fills Jerusalem with Love and Prayer as the "Real Victory Over Nazism"

(Israel)- [Breakingisraelnews.com] On Tuesday, the three-day March of Nations conference culminated in a parade of over 3,000 Christians from approximately 40 countries who filled the streets of Jerusalem and displayed their love of God and the Land of Israel on the Jewish state's 70th anniversary. Outpourings of love for Israel always contain a moving spiritual element, but this gathering had an additional element: witnessing the flourishing State of Israel that has risen from the ashes of the Holocaust.

"This is the real victory over Nazism," said Member of Knesset, Rabbi Yehudah Glick as he led the parade from Sacher Park towards the center of town. "The hearts of these people are stronger than all the darkness. The love in Israel is stronger than all the hate."

The event was organized by the March of Life, an organization of descendants of Nazis who work to preserve the memory of the Holocaust in an effort to. .

About CHPP

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]

BREAKING NEWS!

"By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work." (Genesis 2:2)

We have now completed the reading of the Whole Word of God, from Genesis to Revelation . . . 36 times! We praise God for the literal hundreds who have joined us over the past year and a half to accomplish this feat, and we know that our Lord must be deeply pleased to have heard His Word read back to Him . . . 36 times.

> > > As we meditated upon this milestone, we were visited by the hush of the Holy Spirit, so we waited upon Him for a word. Our Lord reminded us that, in His own week of working, that after six days . . . He RESTED.

Abba shared with us that we have now entered a NEW SEASON in our readings . . . one that would include a "seventh day rest" for the people of God.

And so, beginning this week, our Readathon WILL continue (as above) for SIX DAYS, but will be suspended on Sunday mornings, 12:01 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., that we might rest before Him and dwell in His presence, abiding even more deeply in Him.

It is written: "So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God." (Hebrews 4:9)

We welcome you back every Monday night through Saturday morning, and then we wish you . . . shalom!

Pray for America!
