Heroic Female Pilot: Flying Planes Gives Me The Opportunity 'To Witness For Christ On Almost Every Flight'

When the women of America or around the world want to look for a role model, they might want to start with Tammie Jo Shults, 56, the pilot who flew Southwest Flight 1380 to safety on Tuesday after part of its left engine ripped off, and a religious Christian who once said that piloting planes gave her the opportunity "to witness for Christ on almost every flight."

The flight was supposed to fly from La Guardia Airport in New York City to Dallas Love airport, and because of the emergency situation had to land in Philadelphia. Shults was amazingly calm during the crisis, as audio below can testify. Meanwhile many passengers truly felt that they might die after they heard a huge boom and a window of the plane blew out, and they posted their fears on social media.

NBC News reported, "National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Robert Sumwalt said multiple audible alarms went off in the cockpit around 20 minutes after takeoff as the plane passed through an area at around 32,500 feet of altitude, and the crew reported an engine fire and said they were initiating an emergency descent."

One woman out of the 143 passengers on board died on the flight: Jennifer Riordan, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, according to KOAT-TV. One woman was partially sucked out of the window, and some people pulled her back in; it is unclear whether it was Riordan.

One passenger described the crisis on Instagram: "Our engine that blew out at 38000 ft. A window blew out, a man saved us all as he jumped to cover the window. The pilot, Tammy Jo was so amazing! She landed us safely in Philly."

Kristopher Johnson, a passenger on the flight, told CNN:

We were leaving LaGuardia heading to Dallas. We were west of Philadelphia probably about 30,000 feet, and all of a sudden we just heard this loud bang, rattling and then it felt like one of the engines went out. The oxygen masks dropped and flight attendants did a good job. The pilot came on and said we're diverting to Philadelphia and, you know, there was a serious medical injury. I don't know much about that, but I was sitting in the front. With a couple passengers. We just got the mask on and as soon as we landed, we were thankful. The pilots did a great job, the crew did a great job. They got us down to Philly, and that's when I took the photo of the engine, and it appeared that it just shredded the left side engine completely. So we were coming down - we dropped probably from 30,000 feet to 25,000 feet, and then the pilot kind of regained control and brought it down safely to Philadelphia. So we got off the plane and onto buses and we're trying to head over to the tarmac in Philly. . . It was pretty scary, but the pilots did a great job."
After the flight, one passenger, Diana McBride Self, noted that Shults greeted each passenger after they landed. Self wrote: "Tammie Jo Schults, the pilot came back to speak to each of us personally. This is a true American Hero. A huge thank you for her knowledge, guidance and bravery in a traumatic situation. God bless her and all the crew."
. . . To hear the amazing calm of this female pilot during a genuine crisis, listen here.

- Lord God, as more and more details continue to emerge about this near-disaster in the skies over Philadelphia yesterday, we are so grateful for the way You helped the pilot, a sister in Christ, through this emergency. Thank You, Father, that You intervened to help avert a major tragedy by guiding this skilled pilot to its destination. Praise You, Father, in Your Name, amen.

- "For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways."

1. Senior IDF official confirms Israel attacked 'live Iranian targets' in Syria - Jerusalem Online

For the first time, Israel directly attacked Iranian forces in Syria when it struck the T4 airbase near Homs last week, a senior IDF official told New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman. In a piece published on Sunday, Friedman said that the global reaction to the Israeli attack was largely absent due to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's use of chemical weapons in Douma two days earlier.

"It was the first time we attacked live Iranian targets - both facilities and people," the senior military source told Friedman. In the attack, seven Iranians were killed. The source also commented on the downing of an Iranian drone in February. "This is the first time we saw Iran do something against Israel - not by proxy," he told Friedman. "This opened a new period."

2. Iranian general: 'Date set' for destruction of Israel - Israel National News

An Iranian general stated that a date has been set for the destruction of Israel.

Brigadier General Kioumars Heydari, the commander of the Iranian ground forces, said in a speech that Iran's army is "much stronger than in the past" and that Israel can no longer threaten the Islamic Republic.

The Iranian news agency Mehr reported that the general said that "the date has already been set" for the destruction of Israel. Heydari delivered his speech ahead of Iran's "Army Day", which will begin tomorrow (Wednesday), on the same day Israel celebrates its Independence Day. He stressed that unlike Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region, which import weapons from the West, his country produces its own weapons.

The event was attended by President Reuven Rivlin, IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, and families who have lost their loved ones in wars and terror attacks over the past decades.

"We will not stop for a moment to work for the country your children fought for," Rivlin told the bereaved families, stressing that the military was above any political disagreement.

The Daily Brief

1. Donald Trump: America's economy is back and roaring and its people are winning - USA Today

Tuesday is a day hardworking Americans may dread more than any other. Tax Day. A day that individuals and families, small business owners and part-time workers struggle to conquer a burdensome, complex and extremely unfair tax code to determine how much money they owe the government. But we are changing Tax Day for Americans across the country. This is the last year Americans will fill out outdated, complicated tax forms. A typical family of four earning $73,000 a year can expect to see an income tax cut of more than $2,000 when they file their tax return in 2019 - slashing their income tax bill in half. The standard deduction has been nearly doubled, so now twice as much income is earned tax-free. The tax law also doubled the child tax credit and lowers rates across the board for hardworking families.

We significantly cut our corporate tax rate from one of the highest in the developed world, which means that American workers and businesses are finally able to win again against foreign competitors. We know that when American workers compete on a level playing field, American workers win. We have already created 3 million jobs since the election - including more than 290,000 new jobs in manufacturing and more than 75,000 in mining and logging jobs.

I want every American to have good jobs, rising paychecks and the opportunity to live a life of meaning, purpose and joy. That is why I insisted that the tax law also create "Opportunity Zones" that target investments in distressed communities. These Opportunity Zones will create more jobs in areas of our country that need them the most and benefit those whom Washington has too often left behind. On this Tax Day, America is strong and roaring back. Paychecks are climbing. Tax rates are going down. Businesses are investing in our great country. And most important, the American people are winning. (Read more)

- Father, we come into agreement with this decree of prosperity over our nation. May we honor You for Your abundant blessing upon us.

- Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have insight, I have power. By me kings reign and rulers issue decrees that are just; by me princes govern, and nobles-all who rule on earth. (Proverbs 8:14-16)

2. President Trump 'Understands the Power of Prayer,' Franklin Graham Says - Christian Post

President Donald Trump "understands the power of prayer," Rev. Franklin Graham said on "Fox & Friends" after airstrikes on chemical-weapon targets in Syria. "I appreciate that we have a president who understands prayer and solicits prayer," Graham said Sunday. "Our country is in trouble, the world is in trouble, and the perplexity of the problems that the president faces every day - at home and abroad - is just incredible."

Graham added, "The Bible tells us to pray for authority, not that those in authority are perfect people - they're not. They're imperfect, and that's why God wants us to pray - to pray for the president, all those that are in leadership, and the president in turn asked us to pray for our soldiers, and those that were leading this charge, and for the Syrian people. And I just appreciate that we have a man in office that understands the power of prayer and the need for prayer. Whether you're a Democrat or a Republican, the fact is that Donald Trump is the president of the United States," Graham said. "And if he does well, makes good decisions, it benefits all of us as a nation, regardless of our background . . . We need him to succeed at home, and we need him to succeed abroad. It's not about winning or losing, it's about succeeding for all Americans." (Read more)

- Father, we ask You to raise up more intercessors to pray for President Trump, his family, his administration, our Congressional leadership, jurists and justices. Lord, help us to be faithful in prayer and cooperate with Your Spirit to change the direction of our nation.

- Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:3)

3. Trump, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe kick off high-stakes summit at Mar-a-Lago - Washington Examiner

President Trump welcomed Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe Tuesday for their second bilateral summit at his Mar-a-Lago property, where they will hold crucial talks on trade and North Korea as both leaders grapple with their own scandals back home. The two-day summit begins as White House officials work to determine whether Trump will soon meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, whose historic overture to U.S. officials last month marked a potential turnaround in the isolated regime's pursuit of nuclear weapons. "We're aiming for a summit in May or early June," Matt Pottinger, a deputy adviser to Trump on Asian affairs, told reporters during a briefing Tuesday. Pottinger said the summit between Trump and his Japanese counterpart offers both men an opportunity to discuss their objectives and national interests prior to the president's meeting with Kim, who made a rare visit to China last month for preliminary talks with President Xi Jinping.

"Prime Minister Abe and the president are going to want to exchange views in advance of the summit with the North Korean leader," Pottinger said. "Japanese security interests are American security interests." Hours before the president and Mrs. Trump welcomed Abe and Japan's first lady to their beachside estate, news broke that North and South Korean officials had struck a potential agreement to end military conflict and establish regular summit meetings between both countries. Such a deal would hinge on full denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.

Trump will also have National Economic Chairman Larry Kudlow, chief of staff John Kelly, U.S. Trade Representative Bob Lighthizer, and U.S. Ambassador to Japan William Hagerty on hand for his talks on Tuesday and Wednesday. Kudlow and Lighthizer were asked by the president last week to launch a review of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a multilateral trade agreement that Trump pulled out of days after his inauguration but may now be open to rejoining. The issue is expected to dominate much of the president's discussion about trade this week. According to Kudlow, Japanese officials are open to re-admitting the U.S. to the agreement and intend to draw out the president's proposed changes to the trade deal over the course of the next two days. Critics of the Trump administration have said it's unlikely Japan will tolerate any dramatic modifications. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for Your Spirit to guide these agreements with the Prime Minister of Japan, and later, of North and South Korea.

- They answered, "We saw clearly that the Lord was with you; so we said, 'There ought to be a sworn agreement between us'-between us and you. Let us make a treaty with you that you will do us no harm, just as we did not harm you but always treated you well and sent you away peacefully. And now you are blessed by the Lord." (Genesis 26:28-29)

4. Supreme Court makes it harder to deport legal immigrants who commit crimes - Washington Times

The Supreme Court on Tuesday erected new bars to deporting legal immigrants for crimes they've committed here in the U.S., saying the part of law that set the level of criminal behavior deserving removal is too vague.

Justice Neil M. Gorsuch, in one of his first major breaks with fellow conservatives, joined the court's left-leaning four justices in upending that part of immigration law. He and the liberal bloc said that if Congress wants to make legal immigrants deportable for lower-level felonies they can write those offenses into the law - but they can't use a "vague" catch-all definition to cover any serious crimes they didn't list. It's not clear how widespread the effects of the ruling would be on deportations. Most of those focus on ousting illegal immigrants who never had permission to be in the U.S., while Tuesday's case deals with legal permanent residents who committed crimes while here, and whether those are serious enough to deserve automatic deportation.

Not only did the government say this section of law is "critical" for deporting "dangerous criminal aliens," but other parts of the criminal code use the same language - such as deciding who's banned from possessing a firearm. If the law is too vague in the immigration context, it could also be too vague in the gun context, Chief Justice Roberts suggested.

Justice Gorsuch said Congress could easily repair the situation by writing a new law detailing all the offenses it thought rise to the level of deportation-worthy for legal immigrants. "Congress might, for example, say that a conviction for any felony carrying a prison sentence of a specified length opens an alien to removal. Congress has done almost exactly this in other laws," he wrote. (Read more)

- Father, we pray Congress will clarify Federal law so that violent immigrants will continue to be deported to their country of origin.

- He delivers me from my enemies. You also lift me up above those who rise against me; You have delivered me from the violent man. (2 Samuel 22:49)

5. Two Supreme Court Shortlisters Nominated to Federal Courts - FreeBeacon

President Donald Trump is seeking to elevate two state judges from his Supreme Court shortlist to federal courts. Trump nominated Britt Grant, a justice on the Georgia Supreme Court, and Patrick Wyrick, an associate justice on the Oklahoma Supreme Court, to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and western Oklahoma district court, respectively. Wyrick and Grant have been named as potential nominees to the Supreme Court by the Trump administration. Both nominees have held statewide office. Grant was appointed to the Georgia Supreme Court in 2017 and Wyrick served as Oklahoma solicitor general before beginning his tenure at the state supreme court.

Grant and Wyrick have enjoyed support from their home state senators. Georgia Senators Johnny Isakson (R., Ga.) and David Perdue (R., Ga.) praised Grant for her service to the state, as well as to the Bush administration. "President Trump has made an excellent choice in selecting Justice Britt Grant to serve on the Atlanta-based 11th Circuit Court of Appeals," Perdue said in a release. "As both a Georgia supreme court justice and as Georgia's former solicitor general, Justice Grant has displayed the highest level of integrity and professionalism in her career, and I am certain that will continue with her service on the 11th Circuit." The Oklahoma delegation, Republican senators Jim Inhofe and James Lankford, had equal praise for Wyrick's record, as well as Trump's nominee for the state's eastern district, Tulsa attorney John M. O'Connor. Lankford said Wyrick's record demonstrates that he "will uphold the rule of law while serving the nation from the bench."

"I know [Wyrick and O'Connor] will serve Oklahoma well, and I encourage the Senate to promptly confirm their nominations so they can get to work. It is important that the president continues to fill the many federal judicial vacancies across the country," Lankford said in a statement. Grant and Wyrick are not the only individuals on Trump's shortlist who have been elevated to the federal court system. Trump has also appointed conservative judges Allison Eid, Don Willett, and David Stras to federal courts. (Read more)

- Father, we pray these capable jurists will receive favor within the Senate and be confirmed quickly.

- You shall appoint judges and officers in all your gates, which the Lord your God gives you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with just judgment. (Deuteronomy 16:18)

6. Southwest Airlines plane's engine explodes; 1 passenger dead - Fox News

One person was killed and seven others were injured Tuesday after a Southwest Airlines plane engine apparently exploded midair, officials said. Flight 1380, which was headed from LaGuardia Airport in New York City to Dallas' Love Field, made an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport around 11:20 a.m. The jet had 144 passengers and five crew members aboard. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chairman Robert Sumwalt confirmed the death at a news conference Tuesday. It was the first passenger fatality on a U.S. airline since 2009, according to the NTSB. Seven others were treated for minor injuries, Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel said, adding that one of the engines experienced a fuel leak when firefighters arrived on scene, and a small fire was quickly brought under control.

The plane made an emergency landing after the crew reported damage to one of the engines, the fuselage and at least one window, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said. The pilot, identified as Tammie Jo Shults, asked an air traffic control operator via radio for emergency services to be on the scene for the injured passengers when the aircraft landed. "The entire Southwest Airlines Family is devastated and extends its deepest, heartfelt sympathy to the Customers, employees, family members and loved ones affected by this tragic event," the statement read. "We have activated our emergency response team and are deploying every resource to support those affected by this tragedy." Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton thanked Shults and the crew "who managed to land . . . and prevent further injuries." He added they "are heroes." (Read more)

- Father, we pray Your comfort and healing to touch each person who was on the Southwest plane today, and we pray Your Peace upon the family who lost their loved one.

- Better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting, for that is the end of all men; and the living will take it to heart. (Ecclesiastes 7:2)

7. Planned Parenthood Launches $30 Million Campaign for Pro-Abortion Forces to Take Over Congress - LifeNews

Hoping to take back Congress and preserve its taxpayer funding, the abortion business and partner groups plan to spend $30 million to target voters in Florida, Michigan and Nevada, RollCall reports. On Monday, the pro-abortion coalition, which calls itself "Win Justice," announced plans to reach 2.5 million voters who are young adults, women and people of color. The pro-abortion coalition is made up of Planned Parenthood Votes, the Center for Community Change Action, Color Of Change PAC and the Service Employees International Union, according to the report.

Of particular interest to the pro-abortion groups are several U.S. Senate races. With the Senate in pro-abortion Democrats' hands, abortion activists could continue to block important pro-life legislation, efforts to defund abortion businesses of tax dollars and conservative judicial nominees. Republicans narrowly hold the U.S. Senate. However, they have too few votes to overcome filibusters on key pro-life bills such as the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. Just a few more pro-life wins in the Senate could see important pro-life legislation passed. A few losses could bring the pro-abortion Democratic Party back into power. (Read more)

- Father, we pray no matter how much Planned Parenthood spends, their efforts will be completely fruitless - just as fruitless as they make everyone who uses their services.

- Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. (Ephesians 5:11)

8. Barbara Bush, wife and mother of presidents, dies at 92 - Washington Times

Former first lady Barbara Bush died Tuesday, just two days after ending her hospitalization. She was 92. Her death was confirmed by a statement from the office of her husband of 73 years, former President George H.W. Bush.

Mrs. Bush was one of two women in American history, along with Abigail Adams, to be both wife and mother of a president. Son George W. Bush was in the White House from 2001 to 2009. Besides the 41st and 43rd presidents, she was survived by her four children; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother Scott Pierce. (Read more)

- Father, we pray Your comfort to surround the Bush family and give them Your Peace. We pray the legacy of Barbara Bush, literacy and fidelity, would be imitated by the people of our nation, young and old.

- Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.

9. [Pastor Andrew ]Lawyers call for U.S. to turn up pressure on Turkey - WND

The chief of the American Center for Law and Justice, which fights through its affiliates around the globe for religious rights, is calling on the nation to turn up the pressure on Turkey, where the government has put an American Christian pastor on trial for his faith. The call comes after Monday's initial day of a trial in Turkey for Pastor Andrew Brunson, who has been jailed since late 2016 - and only recently was told of the charges. He's accused of acting in support of terrorism through his Christian church activities.

ACLU chief Jay Sekulow said, "Instead of being returned to the prison [after Monday's hearing] where he had been held most recently, the judge ordered Pastor Andrew to be taken back to an overcrowded and extremely grim prison where he was held initially. As you can imagine, the news is devastating to Pastor Andrew and his family. The ACLJ reported, "Pastor Andrew is on trial because of his Christian faith. The 62-page indictment accuses him of the supposed 'crime' of 'Christianization,' calling it an act of terror. If convicted, he faces a 35-year prison sentence - which for the 50-year-old pastor is essentially a life sentence." Brunson, who moved to Turkey in 1993 and opened a church in 2010, told the judge he has been praying for Turkey for 25 years. (Read more)

- Father, first of all, we pray for the release of Pastor Brunson and his return to the United States. We also pray, that for whatever time You have ordained for him in the Turkish prison, that he will be effective in communicating Your Gospel and winning many souls to Christ.

- When they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not worry about how or what you are to speak in your defense, or what you are to say; 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say. (Luke 12:11-12)

10. Security agencies warn of Russian cyber campaign against company networks - IT Pro UK and US security agencies have alerted governments and private companies to a global, state-sponsored hacking campaign on network infrastructure thought to coming from Russia. The FBI, Department for Homeland Security (DHS) and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) issued a joint Technical Alert on Monday describing a Russian-backed assault on routers, switches, firewalls and other network-based systems in an attempt to launch man-in-the-middle attacks. "[The] FBI has high confidence that Russian state-sponsored cyber actors are using compromised routers to conduct man-in-the-middle attacks to support espionage, extract intellectual property, maintain persistent access to victim networks, and potentially lay a foundation for future offensive operations," the alert read. Early analysis of the campaign has identified targets to primarily be government and private sector organisations, although those providing critical network infrastructure and internet services providers have also been hit by the attack, US authorities said. (Read more)

- Father, give our leaders wisdom to harden our critical infrastructure and prevent the chaos planned by our enemies.

- Lord, confuse the wicked, confound their words, for I see violence and strife in the city. (Psalm 55:9)

Your face your privacy

When we see the government and the court system collaborate to obtain search and spy warrants under false pretense for political purposes, we have witnessed a government and court system that is out of control and needs to be reeled in. If it can happen to President Donald Trump's lawyer, but not Hillary Clinton, it can happen selectively to any one of us. If a secret court can be coerced to allow spying on a presidential candidate by a sitting president, it can happen, and quite possibly has happened, to you. A very disturbing story by Forbes details how a company with contracts to US spy agencies has been harvesting pictures on Facebook, Linked In, YouTube and others for a facial recognition database.

Terrogence is one of those companies marketing its product Face-Int. The Terrogence website boasts: "Face-Int" is an intelligence based facial recognition technology. Terrogence actively monitors and collects online profiles and facial images of terrorists, criminals and other individuals believed to pose a threat to aviation security, immigration and national security. The Face-Int database houses the profiles of thousands of suspects harvested from such online sources as YouTube, Facebook and open and closed forums all over the globe. It represents facial extractions from over 35,000 videos and photos retrieved online portraying such activities as terrorist training camps, motivational videos and actual terror attacks."

So what happens when you are neither a terrorist nor a criminal, but perhaps one of those "other individuals believed to pose a threat"? Maybe somebody on the inside has marked you because you support a certain political position, attend a certain type of church, or have stated your sentiments online about current events. Then you are put through the costly bureaucratic gauntlet trying to prove your innocence because the "authorities" think you are guilty. As ACLU spokesman Jay Stanley told Forbes, "A lot of those problems could intensify if you have a bunch of private quasi-vigilantes making their own blacklists of all kinds." This is precisely what happened with the previous Administration's abuse of the FISA secret court.

Abuse of power takes many forms. Your privacy as an individual is threatened every time you use social media, or even drive on a "public" road (translated: speed cameras, license identification technology, face recognition, etc.). Many government agencies are able to wield the power where the burden of proof of your innocence is on you rather than being innocent until proven guilty. Many people are worried about accidentally taking the "Mark of the Beast," but in reality, anyone using social media already has given the "beast" enough information to, as Revelation 13:7 says, "make war with the saints, and to overcome them." Cat's out of the bag; horse's out of the barn. Be wise about what you post online. Not only is God watching, but his enemies as well.

Pastor Andrew's Trial Takes Bleak Turn

Pastor Andrew's Trial Takes Bleak Turn

- Judge Refuses Release, Delay's Trial, Returns Pastor to Grim Turkish Prison

After one day of trial, the situation just took a bleak turn for Pastor Andrew.

At the conclusion of the first day of his trial - a day filled with video testimony of secret prosecution witnesses whose voices and appearances were disguised - the Turkish judge ordered that Pastor Andrew be returned to the notoriously overcrowded and grim prison, where Pastor Brunson was originally imprisoned. The judge refused to release Pastor Andrew.

The judge ordered that the trial not resume until May 7th.

The delay and return to a much worse prison is an escalation of his case.

Pastor Andrew is on trial because of his Christian faith. The 62-page indictment accuses him of the supposed "crime" of "Christianization," calling it an act of terror. If convicted, he faces a 35-year prison sentence - which for the 50-year-old pastor is essentially a life sentence.

Today's ruling sends him back to a prison he had been in months ago - a prison that is severely overcrowded with almost two dozen inmates packed into a small cell.

This places Pastor Andrew in further danger.

ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow stated:

Instead of being returned to the prison where he had been held most recently, the judge ordered Pastor Andrew to be taken back to an overcrowded and extremely grim prison where he was held initially. As you can imagine, the news is devastating to Pastor Andrew and his family.

At the American Center for Law and Justice - we are stepping up our aggressive campaign to secure the freedom of Pastor Andrew. Between now and the next court date of May 7th - we have an important opportunity - to turn up the pressure on the Turkish government.

The next three weeks are critical for Pastor Andrew and his family. Stand with the ACLJ as we work on the international front as well as at the highest levels of our government to keep Pastor Andrew's case in the headlines. We are grateful for everyone who has stood with us during the legal battle. But these next three weeks are VERY CRITICAL. We have to turn up the pressure - work even harder to secure the release of Pastor Andrew.

We are aggressively fighting for his freedom. We must increase the diplomatic pressure on Turkey to release this innocent U.S. citizen. The fact that Senator Tillis - Pastor Andrew's home state Senator - and Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom Sam Brownback were present at today's trial is an important step.

Turkey must understand that as a NATO ally it cannot be allowed to continue wrongfully imprisoning an innocent U.S. citizen.

We are aggressively working in Congress, with the State Department and the White House, and at the U.N. to fight for Pastor Andrew's freedom. He needs your voice now more than ever. (Read more)

- We continue to ask our Lord to grant Pastor Andrew the anointing that fell upon Paul when he was in prison, setting the captive free! Amen!

- "But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed." (Acts 16:25,26)

A Petition from FRC

A Petition from FRC:

Reject Senator Cory Booker's religious test on Presidential Nominees

Dear Friends,

Senator Cory Booker (D-N.J.) is making headlines for repeatedly berating Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA who was confirmed for that post with 63 votes, and is now President Trump's nominee to be Secretary of State. In a committee hearing, Booker demanded Pompeo reverse his position on marriage and that he basically endorse "gay sex." Not satisfied with Pompeo's pledge to treat everyone with respect and dignity, Senator Booker put forward what is effectively a new litmus test that is chilling for anyone seeking a public service position. This is a litmus test that says you MUST choose between your faith or the job you are seeking, and you can't have faith and serve your country.

Senator Booker made a not-so-subtle unconstitutional endorsement of a religious litmus test in this committee exchange:

[Go here to read this exchange]

. . . It's clear Senator Booker doesn't believe it is possible for Mike Pompeo as a Christian or any person of faith to show respect and dignity for every individual while also believing marriage should be between one man and one woman, a policy supported by President Obama when he was first elected, President Bill Clinton, and most people in the world for millennia. Even Justice Anthony Kennedy writing for the majority in the Supreme Court case redefining marriage said that "many who deem same-sex marriage to be wrong reach that conclusion based on decent and honorable religious or philosophical premises, and neither they nor their beliefs are disparaged here."
Please sign this petition and we will deliver it to the U.S. Senate -- reminding him or her that our Constitution guarantees there will be no religious litmus test. Americans should never be forced to choose between their faith and public service.

Nor should the U.S. Senate try to impose a stealth litmus test that says "you can be religious as long as you don't actually believe or talk about what your faith teaches."

By signing this petition, you are asking every U.S. Senator to oppose religious tests for Presidential nominees.

Demanding a loyalty oath to the government's (or Senator Booker's) determination of what beliefs are acceptable isn't what this country is about; indeed, it's what we fought for independence from! We should celebrate that we are a nation that not only allows but encourages every American to hold and express their beliefs-including their religious beliefs--without fear of retribution by the government. This is the essence of America and the Constitution.

A Call to Fast and to Pray

A Call to Fast and to Pray

Thursday, April 19th

On the Eve of the Shooting in Columbine:

April 20th, 1999

Dear Friends,

This week, we will once again mark the anniversary of a tragic day in our nation's history: the date of the mass shooting in at Columbine High School, in Jefferson County, Colorado.

In the first of what has now been a series of shootings on school campuses, the lives of 12 students were taken, as well as one teacher and the two perpetrators, who committed suicide.
The Columbine massacre has also launched a national debate that continues to this day: whether to implement gun control laws in America, and/or to infringe on our freedom of the right to bear arms, now guaranteed by the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
This Friday, April 20, 2018, students across the nation are once again being urged to take action - this time not by staging marches (as was done last month), but by staging walkouts on their own campuses. This date has been set because it aligns with that of the Columbine massacre.
Due to the volatile nature of the entire issue of gun control in our nation, we feel that it is time to fast and to pray for our leaders at all levels, to be granted God's wisdom in addressing this topic. We are also entering into one day of prayer and fasting, so that our young people not be swayed by deceptive arguments of how to be "safe" in their schools, but rather be taught the truth in our graphic, above: to give up our guns is to lose our freedom.
In Summary: please join us at Capitol Hill Prayer Partners in a day of prayer and fasting on THURSDAY, APRIL 19, for the following prayer targets:

1. That God would grant wisdom to President Trump and to all other federal, state and local leaders in drafting a series of policies that we enhance the security of our children at school, without violating our Second Amendment rights. (I Timothy 2:1,2 and James 1:5)

2. That our United States Constitution be covered by the Blood of the Lamb. Indeed, the WORD is inside teh Constitution (Isaiah 33:22), and the Constitution is in the Word!
3. And finally, that our children and young people be DELIVERED from lies and deceptive teachings about the topic of gun control, and instead be brought to the TRUTH of the Word of God. Our Lord is "the deepest state" - the Rock of our Salvation. [As a subheading of this prayer point, please pray specifically for the salvation and the deliverance of David Hogg and of Emma Gonzalez. Ask that all funding sources of this movement be cut off. Amen.]

"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."
(John 8:36)

CALLING FOR A NATIONAL DAY OF REPENTANCE

Monday, April 30, 2018

Unity in Christ, through Christ and for Christ
" . . . that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me." (Jphn 17:21)

Dear Christian Warriors:

For the seventh year in a row on April 30th, by God's Mercy, we will have another opportunity to call for a National Day of Repentance.

As our nation has gone "off the rails" we must be reminded of Christ's words to ABIDE in Him:

"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." (John 15:4,5)

Then, now, and forever, Jesus is the Source of Life. When you and I abide in Him, we grow in His Word. We speak His Life. We are witnesses of His Hope to a dying culture.

Question: do we really abide in Him? Have you and I regularly taken advantage of the opportunity to be with Him, to abide with Him, now as the Risen Christ? In Revelation 3:20 Jesus/Yeshua, the Risen Messiah, seeing us believers in Him as members of His Royal Priesthood, now says to each of us:

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."
What an invitation! But do we take Him up on it?

Classic Hymns

ALL CREATURES OF OUR GOD AND KING

"Let Heaven and earth praise Him, the seas and all that move in them." (Psalm 69:34)

Lyrics

All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice and with us sing,
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Thou burning sun with golden beam,
Thou silver moon with softer gleam!

Refrain

O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thou rushing wind that art so strong
Ye clouds that sail in Heaven along,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou rising moon, in praise rejoice,
Ye lights of evening, find a voice!

Refrain

Thou flowing water, pure and clear,
Make music for thy Lord to hear,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou fire so masterful and bright,
That givest man both warmth and light.

Signs and Wonders

The Lyrid meteor shower is coming to a sky near you this weekend

There will be shooting stars and a chance of fireballs early on April 23 when Earth busts into space dust left by an ancient comet.
Let's hope for clear skies and an end to the dreary weather this weekend: The Lyrid meteor shower will peak early Sunday morning.

The annual meteor shower is active each year from about April 16 to April 25, Earthsky.org said. "In 2018, the peak of this shower - which tends to come in a burst and usually lasts for less than a day - is expected to fall on the morning of April 22, with little or no interference from the waxing moon," Bruce McClure of Earthsky said.

The moon will be a quarter moon on Sunday, not bright enough to cause too much trouble. An early forecast from the National Weather Service shows clear skies for nearly the entire western half of the U.S., along with the immediate Eastern Seaboard. Much of the central Plains, Ohio Valley and Deep South could be cloudy.

The meteor shower sometimes bombards the sky with up to nearly 100 meteors per hour.

The Lyrids begin as tiny specks of dust that hit Earth's atmosphere at 109,600 mph, vaporizing from friction with the air and leaving behind the streaks of light we call meteors, Astronomy magazine reported.

The meteors appear to emanate from the constellation Lyra the Harp, near the bright star Vega, which rises in late evening and passes nearly overhead shortly before dawn, the magazine said.

The Lyrids are known for their fast and bright meteors, NASA said, though not as fast or as plentiful as the famous Perseids in August. (USA Today) Read more

"I've never felt anything like it before!" Jesus Miraculously Heals a Woman with Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia

[God Reports] She is the daughter of a faith preacher and traveling evangelist who first saw God's power to heal when she was young. But after she developed her own serious, crippling disease, she thought God might heal her gradually, but was shocked when her healing was instantaneous and miraculous-something out of the pages of the Bible. (Photo: Dianna and her husband Kenya/via God Reports)

"I always believed in His power," says Dianna Hobbs, author of God Did It: A True Story of Miraculous Healing.

At 5-years-old Dianne gave her life to Jesus and by 11 she was preaching the Gospel. "I don't even know how I developed such a personal relationship with Him," she says, "but I would hide away in my room and write letters to Jesus. I loved Him early on and still love Him that much more now."

About CHPP

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
Friends may participate by receiving our daily prayer alerts. You may contact us at chpp1994@gmail.com for more information. CHPP is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt ministry. Thank you and God bless you!
