1. Judges order Justice Department to clarify Obama remarks on health law case - Fox News

A federal appeals court is striking back after President Obama cautioned the Supreme Court against overturning the health care overhaul and warned that such an act would be "unprecedented." A three-judge panel for the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday ordered the Justice Department to explain by Thursday whether the administration believes judges have the power to strike down a federal law. One justice in particular chided the administration for what he said was being perceived as a "challenge" to judicial authority -- referring directly to Obama's latest comments about the Supreme Court's review of the health care case.

2. Government plans to sue Arizona sheriff for targeting Latinos
- Reuters

The Obama administration on Tuesday said it was preparing to sue Arizona county sheriff Joe Arpaio and his department for violating civil rights laws by improperly targeting Latinos in a bid to crack down on illegal immigrants. The sheriff's high-profile crackdown on illegal immigrants has helped thrust the issue onto the national political stage with some states passing tough new laws aimed at pushing out those in the country illegally. The sheriff has steadfastly denied any wrongdoing and lashed out at the Obama administration for targeting his department and failing to deal with the problem of illegal immigration with some 11.5 million believed to be in the United States.

- Lord God, we can scarcely believe this prolonged federal attack - funded by tax payer dollars - against a sheriff who is acting in compliance with the laws of his state to protect law abiding citizens from those who enter the U.S. illegally. We ask You to intervene in this discrimination in reverse. We pray for Your strong protection over all who lawfully use their authority to do what is right. We ask You to protect our borders and raise up leaders who will do the same. In Jesus' name we ask this petition!

3. Tornadoes catch Dallas area by surprise, halt air traffic - USA Today

Violent tornadoes pummeled towns around Dallas on Tuesday, flattening homes, flipping tractor-trailers and grounding flights, but few injuries and no deaths were reported.

4. Al Qaeda 'coming soon' to NYC, graphic warns - Fox News

A mysterious image threatening the return to New York of Al Qaeda has appeared on a handful of Arabic websites, prompting the New York police department and federal authorities to investigate. The chilling graphic, which looks like a poster for an upcoming movie, includes the English-language taunt, "Al Qaeda Coming Soon Again in New York." NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said the image appeared in the "artwork and design" section of a murky site used as a forum for terror talk. "The FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force is aware of the posting and investigating its authenticity and origin," said J. Peter Donald, spokesman for the FBI's New York Field Office. "The FBI takes all threats seriously and at this time there is no specific or credible threat to New York."

Therefore in Jesus' Name we take authority over every force proudly proclaiming its intent to destroy and to kill, and we bind this enemy in Jesus' Name. 5. Iran vows to stick to nuclear 'path' - France24

Iran declared on Monday it will not be swayed from its nuclear "path" by sanctions, a week before talks with world powers that are increasingly seen as a last chance for diplomacy in its showdown with the West. The defiant words came after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Saturday that the talks between Iran and the world powers would take place April 13 and 14 in Istanbul. She and US President Barack Obama have both publicly said that the window for diplomacy in the standoff over Iran's nuclear programme is closing. "Our policy is one of prevention, not containment," Clinton said in Saudi Arabia after talks with her Gulf Arab counterparts.

1. Oliver North: Obama Will Risk Israel's Security to Win Re-election - NewsMax

Lt. Col. Oliver North says the administration will do everything it can to avoid an Israeli attack on a potentially nuclear Iran in order to keep President Barack Obama "out of trouble until November." North also told Fox News' Sean Hannity Monday the administration has a "naive utopian hope" that Israel and the Palestinians can reach a peace accord, thereby ending the worldwide Islamist extremist threat.

2. Alarms go off across Israel; IDF says investigating technical error - Ha'aretz

Thousands of concerned citizens called the police on Monday after alarms emitting the wailing sound usually used to signal an impending attack sounded across Israel, including in Ashkelon, Ashdod, Ofakim, Kiryat Malachi, Ginot Shomron, Hatzor, Tiberias, Carmiel and Afula.

3. End Muslim occupation, Eldad tells Christian group - Jerusalem Post

National Union MK Arye Eldad called for the annexation of Judea and Samaria in a speech to a large group of Christian Zionists who came to the Knesset on Tuesday for the fourth Jerusalem Assembly.

4. Netanyahu to call on Abbas to return to the negotiating table - Ha'aretz

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu intends to send a letter to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, in which he will call on him to return to the negotiating table, promptly and without preconditions.

5. Israeli-US anti-missile drill back on track - Jerusalem Post

Months after its postponement, the largest-ever Israeli-American missile defense drill is back on track with plans moving forward to hold the exercise by the end of the year in face of Iran's continued pursuit of a nuclear capability.

A taste of tyranny in the town of liberty

Washington, DC has been the cradle of liberty since it became America's Capital City in 1801. The distinct three branches of government, bringing each into accountability to the other; the Bill of Rights guaranteeing freedom of speech and religion among many other inalienable rights; the rich history of free markets and free men all have been an example to freedom loving peoples around the world. But just in one week, the man who occupies the Oval Office has bucked tradition and has given a glimpse of the tyranny to come if the current political climate is allowed by voters to continue into the future--it is a type and shadow of an America gone into captivity.

As the Supreme Court closed out debate over the rights-violating socialist healthcare mandate rammed through by the White House, the president offered words of warning. At an April 2 news conference, he said, "Ultimately, I'm confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress. And I'd just remind conservative commentators that for years what we've heard is, the biggest problem on the bench was judicial activism or a lack of judicial restraint -- that an unelected group of people would somehow overturn a duly constituted and passed law. Well, this is a good example."

Then at the April 3 Associated Press luncheon, he lectured journalists on how to report about his budget: "I think that there is oftentimes the impulse to suggest that if the two parties are disagreeing, then they're equally at fault and the truth lies somewhere in the middle, and an equivalence is presented--which reinforces I think people's cynicism about Washington generally. This is not one of those situations where there's an equivalence...So as all of you are doing your reporting, I think it's important to remember that the positions I'm taking now on the budget and a host of other issues, if we had been having this discussion 20 years ago, or even 15 years ago, would have been considered squarely centrist positions."

On July 24, 2008 as a candidate, he delivered a speech in Berlin, Germany at the Victory Column--the exact spot where Hitler planned to enthrone himself. Revelation 2:13 refers to Pergamon as the location of "Satan's seat." The altar of Pergamon was taken from Turkey to Germany and reconstructed in Berlin, where the candidate originally wanted to give his Berlin speech. The Great Altar of Pergamon, as Revelation reveals as "where Satan dwelleth", served as the backdrop to the American president's nomination acceptance speech at Invesco Field in Denver (reported by Michael Barone, US News, August 29, 2008). Yeshua told his disciples in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." Maybe it's too late...

Obama Unhinged

In his speech to reporters yesterday Hussein Obama unleashed a barrage of rhetorical falsehoods and demagoguery at the latest budget proposal by Rep. Paul Ryan, which was approved by House Republicans. Obama went beyond policy disagreements and set out to demonize the GOP with slashing rhetoric and alarming adjectives. The goal of Obama's attack was to portray himself as a moderate or centrist and portray the GOP as extremists.

Here are some of the ways Obama described Ryan's budget: "radical," "a Trojan horse," "a prescription for decline" and "thinly veiled social Darwinism." (That's odd -- I thought liberals were big fans of Darwin.) At one point, Obama even suggested that Ronald Reagan could not win a Republican primary today because the GOP is so extreme. How ironic. When Reagan ran, the left tried to paint him as an unelectable right-wing extremist! They were wrong about Reagan then, and Obama is wrong about the GOP today.

Unbelievably, Obama also complained to his left-wing media allies saying, "This is not a situation where there is equivalence." Translation: Conservatives have no legitimate point of view you should be covering. Once again, Obama's intolerance for dissenting points of view was on full display.

The editors of the Wall Street Journal fired back today and summarized well the president's over-the-top attacks. Here's an excerpt from the Journal's editorial:

"Obama's depiction of the wonkish and formerly obscure House Budget Chairman as some political monster is itself telling. Mr. Obama is conceding that he can't run on the economic recovery, the stimulus, health care, green energy or any of the other grand liberal ambitions that have dominated his time in office. All of those are unpopular or failures. He was elected on hope and change, but now his only hope is to change the subject to the ogres he claims are the disloyal opposition. . .

The Journal's underlying point is one we have made repeatedly in this daily report: Obama can't run on his record (as you will read below), so he is going to demonize those of us who fight him and his agenda in a desperate attempt to portray the GOP as a worse alternative. Yet in spite of Obama's vicious personal attacks, we keep hearing over and over again that the one thing the GOP establishment is afraid of doing is attacking Obama.

I can guarantee you this much: Obama's entire campaign will be one negative attack after another. According to one reporter, the goal of the Obama campaign is to make the Republican Party radioactive in the next 60 days. They want to so poison people's minds before the campaign traditionally begins in earnest -- after Labor Day -- that there is no chance of the GOP candidate being able to recover by November 6th.

Again, my friends, I'm not trying to discourage you. I am trying to prepare you for the fight that lies ahead so you can help your friends and family members see through Obama's distortions and point out his hypocrisy. (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day; 4/4/12)

Judge Assigns Homework To Obama Lawyer

As I reported yesterday, Barack Obama stepped way over the line with his outrageous comments attacking the Supreme Court and the separation of powers. Evidently there is one federal judge who agrees with me and had the courage to fight back.

A three judge panel of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals is currently hearing another case challenging certain aspects of ObamaCare. As Justice Department attorney Dana Lydia Kaersvang began making arguments defending ObamaCare yesterday, Judge Jerry Smith interrupted and demanded to know whether the administration believed the courts have the authority to review the law.

"I want to be sure that you are telling us that the Attorney General and the Department of Justice," Smith said, "do recognize the authority of the federal courts through unelected judges to strike acts of Congress or portions thereof in appropriate cases." Kaersvang affirmed the court's authority and referred to Marbury v. Madison, but Judge Smith wasn't convinced and then assigned her some "homework."

Judge Smith demanded a letter from the Justice Department due tomorrow outlining the court's authority to review ObamaCare. "The letter needs to be at least three pages, single spaced, no less and it needs to be specific. It needs to make specific reference to the president's statements," Smith said.

Kudos to Judge Smith! He, like every other federal official, has taken an oath to uphold the Constitution, and he is taking his responsibility seriously and holding the administration to account for Obama's thuggish attack on the separation of powers.

Many GOP senators also spoke out. Senator Mike Johanns (R-NE) said, "What President Obama is doing here isn't right. It is threatening, it is intimidating." Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said that Obama's "attempt to intimidate the Supreme Court falls well beyond distasteful politics. It demonstrates a fundamental lack of respect for our system of checks and balances."

Even liberal George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley blasted Obama, saying his remarks were "a cheap shot and beneath a president" and "both unfounded and unwise." (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day; 4/4/12)

Gay "rights" in two states

Same Sex Marriage in Maryland and Washington State

Efforts are underway in Maryland and Washington state to gather signatures on petitions to put same-sex "marriage" on the ballot in November. Legislatures in both states voted to legalize same-sex "marriages" earlier this year. In 2009, Maine's legislature enacted a law to allow same-sex "marriage" there. Voters vetoed the law via a ballot initiative, and in 2010, voted to give Republicans control of the legislature. Homosexual activists are now trying to use the referendum process to win same-sex "marriage" again! Minnesota and North Carolina will vote in November on marriage amendments to keep marriage between a man and woman. Unfortunately, reports are that Congress is backing away from marriage-preserving measures.
- May God move the people to protect marriage as he created it, both by law and by constitutional amendment in these states!

Family Research Council Urges the First Circuit to Defend Marriage


WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit heard oral arguments today in Gill v. Office of Personnel Management and Massachusetts v. United States. Gill is an appeal of Judge Joseph Louis Tauro's July 2010 decision holding that Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) unconstitutionally discriminates against homosexuals. For purposes of federal law, DOMA reserves the terms "marriage" and "spouse" to opposite-sex couples.

The Family Research Council (FRC), in conjunction with the Thomas More Society (Chicago), filed an amicus curiae ("friend of the court") brief in this case unequivocally supporting DOMA's constitutionality.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins made the following comments about the case:

"The Defense of Marriage Act recognizes the uniquely important role that marriage between a man and a woman plays in society, encouraging the reproduction of the human race and the joint nurture of children by complementary partners - a married mother and father.

"DOMA ensures that federal law reflects our national consensus on marriage and that states will not have a radical redefinition of marriage forced upon them by other states.

"In every one of the 31 states where the definition of marriage has appeared on the ballot, voters have upheld the definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman. This demonstrates that a strong consensus remains in favor of defining marriage as it always has been understood.

"FRC thanks House Speaker John Boehner for taking the steps needed to defend DOMA after President Obama abandoned his constitutional duty to defend federal statutes from constitutional challenges. Speaker Boehner's choice of Paul Clement as his legal advocate defending marriage could not have been more inspired."

IRAN OIL SANCTIONS

The U.S. on Friday signed off on tough new sanctions aimed at hitting Iran's oil exports, after determining there is enough crude supplies in the world market that taking the step won't harm U.S. allies or drive gas prices even higher.

This move gives us the ability to impose sanctions on foreign banks that continue to conduct business from Iran's central bank, cutting them off from the financial systems of the U.S. and its allies. The U.S. and European Union have issued a string of sanctions against Iran to isolate it from the world economy and pressure Tehran to stop developing its disputed nuclear program.

Countries involved in purchasing oil from Iran can still prevent the sanctions if they significantly curtail their imports before the June 28 deadline.

Speculation about an Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear facilities has helped push up oil and gas prices, which have become one of the biggest political problems for Obama's re-election.
In clearing the way for the congressionally mandated sanctions, Obama said he made his decision after "carefully considering" a Feb. 29 Energy Information Agency report to Congress that analyzed the world's oil supply and the impact the sanctions would have. The penalties are timed to take effect at the end of June, around the same time Europe's embargo on Iranian oil also begins.

In a memo, Obama said he determined "that there is a sufficient supply of petroleum products from countries other than Iran to permit a significant reduction in the volume of petroleum and petroleum products purchased from Iran by or through foreign financial institutions." He also promised to monitor the situation closely to assure that the market can continue to accommodate a reduction in purchases of oil and oil products from Iran. . .

"The sanctions may have caused us small problems, but we will continue our path," Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi vowed in an interview with the official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

"We do not underestimate any enemy, no matter how tiny and lowly they are. The regime's officials -- the supreme leader, the president, the army, the (Revolutionary) Guards and Basij (militia) -- are completely vigilant. And the nation is prepared to defend the achievements of Islamic Iran," he said.

The defiant words came after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Saturday that the talks between Iran and the world powers would take place April 13 and 14 in Istanbul. (Contributors: Washington Times, France 24)
