The Daily Brief - Tuesday, February 23, 2010

And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory." (Isaiah 6:3)

Today's Daily Brief

1. Obama's 'New' Health Care Plan Would Use Tax Dollars to Pay for Abortions - CNS News

President Barack Obama unveiled his plan for health care reform on whitehouse.gov on Monday, but pro-life legislators and advocates said the "new" proposal mostly mirrors the Senate bill and, in particular, would allow for tax dollars to be used to fund health plans that cover abortion.

- The shedding of innocent blood brings a curse upon our land. Cry out for MERCY in the midst of JUDGMENT. Perhaps the LORD would yet turn the heart of this king from evil to good. May the scales fall off his eyes; and may Obama be set free to walk in truth -- not error -- all the days of his life on earth.

- And immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he regained his sight, and he got up and was baptized. (Acts 9:18)

2. CBO: Obama health 'plan' too vague to analyze - Washington Times

Obama said he would put out a full bill ahead of Thursday's highly touted bipartisan health summit, but what he released on Monday is so bare-bones that the Congressional Budget Office said there's not even enough detail to start working on a cost estimate.

- As this White House administration is in no way passing its test with the American public or the CBO, please pray that this huge mess will be torn up and that a true bipartisan effort will come forth at Thursday s summit. Intercede now, as we have been coerced, lied to, threatened, and misled quite enough over this hullabaloo approach to healthcare in our country.

- Without consultation, plans are frustrated, but with many counselors they succeed. (Proverbs 15:22)

3. Democratic Jobs Bill Advances Despite GOP Filibuster - Fox News

A bipartisan jobs bill cleared a GOP filibuster on Monday with critical momentum provided by the Senate's newest Republican, Scott Brown of Massachusetts.

- Please pray as all the talks of men won't get us to the plans and decrees of the Lord. Ask the Lord to show up in the house and turn the tables over . . . Both parties are exhausted with the stealing and money funneling going on, and the American people have nothing to show for it.

- By Me princes rule, and nobles, all the judges of the earth. (Proverbs 8:16)

4. Bad economies in states to worsen: governors - Reuters

The already gloomy conditions of states' economies are set to worsen, according to preliminary survey findings from the National Governors Association released on Saturday.

- Please pray for more and more people to wake up to the Answer to these ever increasing financial challenges, locally and nationally. Intercede for the minds of men to be released to believe God, and prove Him, as opposed to "kicking the can" of debt further down the road of our future.

- That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, That I may fill their treasuries. (Proverbs 8:21)

5. Iran warning over 'Persian Gulf' - BBC

Iran has warned that airlines will be banned from flying into its airspace, unless they use the term "Persian Gulf" on their in-flight monitors.

- Please pray for a quick reply to any threats to air safety. Intercede that Iran will not be allowed to dictate to the world what it must say or do, and that we will not be pushed out of any airspace as the United States does not comply with threats from irritated madmen.

- Then they answered Joshua, "Whatever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go. (Joshua 1:16)

6. NEWS ALERT: Up To 6 Christians Killed In Iraq - ASSIST News

Up to six Christians have been killed in a new wave of anti-Christian violence rocking the northern city of Mosul and nearby areas, an advocacy group said.

- The blood of the martyr once again cries out from the ground of Iraq. And in that blood, there is victory for the advancement of the gospel of the Kingdom of God. Ask our Lord to comfort those who grieve today; and pray for supernatural protection for the saints on the land in Iraq. Thank God for these martyrs for Christ! Amen.

- And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. (Rev. 12:11)

7. Haiti Leader Says Quake Toll Could Reach 300,000 - ABC News

The president of Haiti said Sunday the death toll from his country's earthquake could reach 300,000 once all the bodies are recovered from wrecked buildings.

- As the numbers go up unimaginably, pray that the Lord's consolation will be with the families and friends of these victims. Ask that witnesses to the truth of the Gospel be released, and for Haiti to find itself under the protection of the Living God.

- Return to Me; And if you will put away your abominations out of My sight, Then you shall not be moved. (Jer. 1:b NKJV)

3. Barak to U.S. to discuss Iran, peace talks with Palestinians - Ha'aretz

5. Jerusalem city wall dates back to King Solomon - Jerusalem Post

Ancient stone fortifications that were recently uncovered outside the walls of Jerusalem's Old City date back some 3,000 years to the time of King Solomon and support the biblical narrative about the era, according to archeologist Dr. Eilat Mazar, who spoke to a group of reporters at the site on Monday.

Abortion Funding in Health Plan

"Been There, Shunned That"

Under the administration's "new" plan, this bill would be the largest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade--with a big chunk of the proposal tagged directly for groups like Planned Parenthood. Despite public opposition, President Obama reverted back to the Senate's language, which would force taxpayers to fund abortions even if their state opts-out of the coverage. Using a phony argument that the money would be segregated, the government would still draw from taxpayer pools to cover a procedure that Americans overwhelmingly reject. The President missed his opportunity to adopt the most popular piece of reform, Rep. Bart Stupak's (D-Mich.) outright ban on government-funded abortion.

To make matters worse, the White House is upping the ante on the Senate's abortion bailout, asking for $11 billion in "community health centers," which can easily be redirected to groups like Planned Parenthood. The President's package also includes Sen. Barbara Mikulski's (D-Md.) amendment, which would allow the administration to define abortions as "preventative health services" and force private insurers to cover them. As it's currently written, the $6 billion in grants for health co-ops doesn't include a single abortion restriction--nor does the Indian Health Services program. With the health care summit just days away, the onus is on Republicans. They can expose the President's credibility gap on abortion and kill the bill--or sit silent and risk the momentum that got them there. (Family Research Council)

Update: Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Lawmakers Consider Repeal of "'Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

The top military brass will be questioned this week about the law that prevents homosexuals from serving openly as Congress considers the 2011 military budget. The hearings will be Tuesday and Wednesday. Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Head of the Joint Chiefs Admiral Mike Mullen have said they personally favor lifting the ban.

Elaine Donnelly, president with the Center for Military Readiness, said the law should remain. "The secretary of Defense is looking for ways to effectively suspend enforcement of the law," she said. "There is no excuse not to enforce this law, other than political considerations which are not a good enough reason." (CitizenLink)

The Science of Fraud and its Culture of Death and Tyranny

Jesus tells us in Matthew 24:4,Take heed that no man deceive you. Yet, Americans have been living in deception for generations. Think about it. The public school system has been teaching evolution since the 1960s. If evolution, in its most sincere sense were true, why are we not seeing apes turning into men these days? People become so angry over the mere question raised that they may not have come from apes. The movement is so intense that even Christians are trying to justify evolution while still maintaining some form of the Creation account in the Bible. Bottom line: evolution is just one of the avenues to humanism--it is "science" unproven, but taught as fact.

Global warming is now a discredited "science." The so-called scientists at Britain's University of East Anglia's Climate Research Union have admitted that they falsified data. The head of the unit has resigned in disgrace and said he thought about committing suicide. The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has been proven a fraud. Al Gore, the international spokesman on global warming, who, by the way, made millions proselytizing the global warming fraud, is no longer found in public. News reporters who were duped by these humanist socialists are now calling for someone to go to jail for conspiring in international fraud. The world was accepting global warming "science" as fact.

Or how about the idea that a "fetus" is a gathering of cells, but not a human life? This so-called science has led to the deaths of over 40 million American pre-born babies. There is no doubt in real "science" these days that a pre-born baby is a legitimate human being living inside its mother's womb. 4-D ultrasounds prove that a pre-born baby is human by giving undeniable visual confirmation of a pre-born baby's human features--lips, face, eyes, hands, feet--even down to emotional and sensory reactions to the environment within the womb. Yet pre-born "science" accepts the "fetus as tissue" definition as fact.

The scientific community has done wonders over the centuries. But there is great deception when humanist politics co-opts science to undermine the precepts of God. When scientists, who are predisposed to proving God wrong, turn away from their science to support political agendas, their true craft becomes the science of fraud. Then instead of saving lives and providing more freedom to mankind, they become instruments of death and tyranny. If you do not want to be deceived, read what the Bible says about these issues. The wise king Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 1:9, "There is no new thing under the sun." The more science tries to prove the Bible wrong, the more the Bible is proven true.

A Letter From Bishop Harry Jackson

D.C. Stand4Marriage Rally Tomorrow at the Capitol

URGENT MESSAGE!!

Dear Pastors, Civic Leaders and Friends:

Greetings from Washington, DC!

As you already know, the Washington DC City Council has recently passed the " Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Equality Amendment Act of 2009. We have only a few days left to derail the bill - only Congress or our legal team can stop this wrong headed legislation from going into law.

You and I must fight back!

We are at a critical moment in the battle for marriage in our Nation's Capital. We only have a few days left to stop the madness! We have urged Congress to weigh in and stop this legislation. Their response has been good and two pieces of legislation have been introduced.

We must demonstrate an incredible show of force, strength, and influence. Will you please join us:

When: Wednesday, February 24, 2010
Time: 11:00am
What: Press Event/Rally
Where: U.S. Capitol Visitor Center - Room HC-8

We will urge Senators and Representatives to support and co-sponsor Senate Bill 2980 and HR-4430, respectively - to give DC residents the right to vote on this issue.

In order to be admitted to the rally, we need you to RSVP as soon as possible by calling Dee Powell or Tolu Adeniji at 240/845-0388

Time is of the essence and we need your help!

The proposed same-sex marriage bill poses an existential threat to our religious liberties and violates the spirit of the 1965 voting rights act. DC citizens have been denied the right to vote, despite the fact that the citizens want to have their say.

Folks on both sides of the issue agree that the citizens deserve the right to vote. Changing the definition of marriage has incredible long term consequences for their children and their families for generations. The matter demands a referendum---the right to be voted on.

We must stop this DC law now ! As you can imagine, this outrageous law will not be the end of the council's abuses of the City. In the future, we will see the political leaders of DC shifting any number of additional policies in the wrong direction. They want to re-create DC into an East Coast San Francisco or worse.

Importantly, the consequences of this law are not just local. From a national perspective, this law marks the beginning of an assault on the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) which has allowed 31 states to vote to protect the definition of marriage. Radical gay marriage activists want to silence the voices of all those people as well - by lobbying elite legislators and pulling high powered legal maneuvers.

Because of our recent momentum, our advisors have requested a final press event and rally. To really make an impact we need representatives from around the nation.

Please contact just one friend and bring them along with you.

For the cause of Christ and Liberty; join us Wednesday, February 24, 2010 11:00 am on Capitol Hill!

Together we can make a difference!

Sincerely,
Bishop Harry Jackson
