The Daily Brief - Tuesday, February 2, 2010

"Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent . . ." (Acts 17:30,31)

Today's Daily Brief

1. Deficit to Hit All-Time High Fox News

Obama pitches $3.8T budget, pushing a spending plan that includes jobs programs but will lift deficit. He will propose on Monday a $3.8 trillion budget for fiscal 2011 that projects the deficit will shoot up to a record $1.6 trillion this year, but would push the red ink down to about $700 billion, or 4% of the gross domestic product, by 2013, according to congressional aides.

• Lord, we pray that this over-spending will stop immediately! We pray elected officials of both parties will vote against more spending. Give them a backbone to end these acts to change our nation! We pray they will do it quickly.

Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. (Joshua 1:7)

2. States Seek to Ban Health Mandates Fox News

Despite stalled health care talks, lawmakers in 34 states ramp up efforts to reject mandatory health care. They have now filed or proposed amendments to their state constitutions or statutes rejecting health insurance mandates, according to the American Legislative Exchange Council, a nonprofit group that promotes limited government that is helping coordinate the efforts. Many of those proposals are targeted for the November ballot, assuring that health care remains a hot topic as hundreds of federal and state lawmakers face reelection.

• We thank you, Lord, for the actions by these officials to limit this administration of over-burdening our citizens with this healthcare bill. We pray this bill will never pass. Let states take their rightful place in controlling these decisions. We also pray for the November elections to bring in righteous, godly people in our government.

When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death the righteous have a refuge. (Proverbs 14:32)

3. It's Official: Obama's Spending Today Dwarfs FDR's Depression-Era Spending - CNS News

In his budget message to Congress released yesterday, President Barack Obama repeatedly compared the economic situation he "inherited" to the Great Depression of the 1930s when Franklin Roosevelt was president. But the new budget data release by his own Office of Management and Budget reveals that in one way Obama is making the current era distinctly different from the Great Depression: He is spending vastly more money than Roosevelt did.

• Lord, we know this is not just a spending binge going on in our government, but there are ideologies being incorporated into our nation after the example of FDR and the Progressives. Help us to tip the scale back to a righteous, Christian nation devoid of this hatred for you.

Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, from the traps set by evildoers. Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety. (Psalms 141:9, 10)

4. Obama Budget Seeks $1.1 Trillion in Tax Hikes Fox News

President would increase taxes on some businesses and wealthy individuals by a total of about $1.4 trillion over the next decade, while cutting taxes for workers and other businesses by about $330 billion.

• Heavenly Father, we pray these decisions to increase taxes will never happen. We pray for a loud outcry from the citizens so that lawmakers will not pass any laws that are burdensome or allow any laws to drop that are beneficial to our citizens.

The LORD will keep you from all harm - He will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. (Psalms 121:7, 8)

5. Obama Seeks Money for Nuclear Weapons Work Fox News

The Obama administration on Monday asked Congress for more than $7 billion for activities related to nuclear weapons in the budget of the National Nuclear Security Administration.

• Lord, give us wisdom about the types of fuels for the future of our nation. Let no decisions be made that would hurt our citizens and our nation. Put experienced and knowledgeable people in place to develop new fuels for our nation.

Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. (Proverbs 4:5, 6)

6. Brown: Abortion Ruling Shouldn't Be Overturned - CBN News

Republican Sen.-elect Scott Brown of Massachusetts says he opposes federal funding for abortions, but thinks women should have the right to choose whether to have one. "I feel this issue is best handled between a woman and her doctor and her family and on the marriage issue that you brought up is settled here in Massachusetts," Brown said. "I believe states should have the ability to determine their own destiny and that the government should not be interfering with individual states' rights on issues that they deal with on a daily basis."

Brown also believes states should have the right to decide whether gays should marry. He is scheduled to be sworn in Feb. 11.

• Lord, we pray that all elected officials will have a righteous burden for the unborn. We pray they will begin to enact laws that would eventually overturn Roe v Wade. Help Sen.- elect Scott Brown be solidly prolife and not waffle on any conservative issues. If he is advocating states rights, let him make that clear.

Rescue me, O Lord, from evil men; protect me from men of violence, who devise evil plans in their hearts and stir up war every day. (Psalms 140:1, 2)

7. Pagans Get Worship Space at Academy Air Force Times

The Air Force Academy will add a worship area for followers of "earth-centered religion" - pagans - with a dedication ceremony scheduled for March 10.

A stone circle located on a hill overlooking the Cadet Chapel and visitor center will join Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim and Buddhist sacred spaces at the academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Tech. Sgt. Brandon Longcrier, a pagan who worked with the chapel to create the circle, said he did not encounter resistance to the idea. "There really haven't been any obstacles for the new circle," he said in an Air Force news release. "The chaplain's office has been 100 -percent supportive." Longcrier said earth-centered spirituality includes traditions such as Wicca and Druidism. Wicca is the largest religious group in the Air Force after Christianity.

• Heavenly Father, we pray that you will intervene in the opening of this sacred space at the academy. Lord, raise up people to have strong voices against this, and we pray for salvation for everyone involved in pagan religion. Give us a holy nation without any foreign gods!

"Now then," said Joshua, "throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel." And the people said to Joshua, "We will serve the LORD our God and obey him." (Joshua 24:23, 24)

State of the Union--Rosy Delivery Embedded in Humanist Socialist Thorns

Despite the newfound humility and words of reconciliation in his State of the Union speech, the man who occupies the Oval Office is still on the same course. He is committed to government, rather than private industry, solving the employment problem by taxing corporations, which in turn, is an indirect tax on consumers. He is committed to spending your money to create more government programs that he believes will create jobs. He is the true Jesse James of the 21st century--rob the rich (which get your hard earned tax money in the first place through so-called stimulus), create the illusion that the middle class is being served, while at the same time enriching and consolidating his political machine.

Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." And 2 Timothy 4:3, 4 says, "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." These verses can be applied to the situation faced by America. This Administration and this Congress, irrespective of political party, should be judged by their adherence to Constitutional tenets rather than by the soothing words they say. They should be held accountable on the merit of their actions, rather than on the words they use to describe what they will do.

With all the talk of bipartisanship, one party was chastised for opposing this Administration's programs. He said, "Just saying no to everything may be good short-term politics, but it's not leadership." But, if it is unconstitutional, and straps generations of Americans with insurmountable debt, then somebody better be saying "no"--over and over again. He said that the Senate blocked legislation to create a new social security commission that he wanted passed. Not to worry, he then said, "So I'll issue an executive order that will allow us to go forward, because I refuse to pass this problem on to another generation of Americans."

He chastised the Supreme Court for ruling in favor of free speech and gave the impression that foreign entities would be controlling U.S. elections because of the decision. He didn't mention, however, the millions of dollars in out of country online donations received by his presidential campaign that are still under investigation. He called on Congress to post all earmark requests online, but did not post the healthcare reform bill online as promised. Homosexuals in the military are also a stated priority. Despite the rosy fragrance of his words and their velvety delivery, the thorns of humanist socialism are embedded deep in his plan to remake America. It is time for a change.

A Letter from Tony Perkins

Help Prevent the Sexualization of our Armed Forces

Last night in his State of the Union Address, President Obama repeated his call for Congress to repeal the military eligibility law that was passed in 1993, and to allow homosexual conduct within the ranks of the armed forces.

This would put our military in the strange position of actively recruiting personnel who have an expressed intention to violate the Uniform Code of Military Justice (which still prohibits certain forms of sexual conduct, including homosexuality). Forcing soldiers to cohabit with people who view them as sexual objects would inevitably lead to increased sexual tension, sexual harassment, and even sexual assault. America's military exists to fight and win wars --not to engage in radical social engineering.

Sign the petition to tell Congress to keep the law that says homosexuality is incompatible with military service, and oppose efforts to use our armed forces.

Sign the petition urging members of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees to uphold the 1993 law on military eligibility and oppose President Obama's effort to allow homosexuals to serve in the military.
Sincerely,

Tony Perkins, President

Dawn of the Abortion Era

Unfortunately, the woman who once compared pregnancy to slavery is back on the confirmation menu. To our disappointment, President Obama has re-nominated Dawn Johnsen to the Department of Justice, where the former NARAL Pro-Choice America counsel would be in charge of setting policy for the entire government. This could be particularly devastating for the pro-life movement, since her previous "accomplishments" include drafting five "lethal" Executive Orders for President Bill Clinton that made abortions easier for women--and young girls--to obtain. She is an unapologetic opponent of parental notification in abortion and has even fought to strip the Catholic Church of its charitable status because of its position on life. Hamas Leader Killed in Dubai

Hamas military commander 'assassinated in Dubai'

A senior Hamas military commander has been assassinated by Israel in Dubai, the Palestinian Islamist group claims. Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, 50, a founder of the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades, "died a martyr on 20 January in suspicious circumstances", a statement said. Hamas gave no further details, but vowed to "retaliate for this Zionist crime at the appropriate moment". An Israeli government spokesman would not comment, in line with Israel's usual policy on similar allegations. The AFP news agency reports that the authorities in Dubai have identified several "European passport holders" as suspects. (BBC)

A Miracle of Biblical Proportions
God Multiplies Food for Children in Uganda Just Enough for 50, but Over 200 Are Fed

[Breaking Christian News]

Reported by: Mike and Lori Salley (January 25, 2010)

"Several of our team members were crying because they knew there was not enough food for all of the kids and some would have to be sent away hungry. We began to pray that God would multiply the food. . ."

(Kaliti, Uganda) Have you ever heard stories of food multiplying? We have read about them in the Bible but few have actually seen it happen. Have you ever wondered if it still happens today? Well, we saw it with our own eyes yesterday in Uganda! (Photo: ShowMercy.org)

We organized a feeding for 50 orphaned and desperately poor children in Kaliti Village, Uganda where our Field of Dreams project is located. Over 200 children showed up hungry! Several of our team members were crying because they knew there was not enough food for all of the kids and some would have to be sent away hungry. We began to pray that God would multiply the food.
EVERY child ate and was full...over 200 were fed an abundant feast!! Not only that, but every adult ate as well. There was so much food left over that they packed it up to take it home with them. We saw it with our own eyes! Please watch our two Youtube videos and forward them to your friends. Our team will also be posting their stories and pictures on our Facebook Fan Page. Click here to join our fan page.

We have a passion for seeing the impossible and are careful not to exaggerate our experiences. However, we have to share this with you, because we saw it first hand. All of our team knows that something miraculous took place that day. God is good and He is doing amazing things through Show Mercy in Uganda. There are many stories we have not had a chance to share, but will be sending more updates as we get the time.

We invite you to be a part of this exciting time. As most of you know, we named our project "The Field of Dreams", because if you believe the impossible, the incredible WILL come TRUE. "If we build it, He will come!"
