The Daily Brief - Thursday, February 18, 2010

God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding. He says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth,' and to the rain shower, 'Be a mighty downpour.' So that all men he has made may know his work, he stops every man from his labor. (Job 37:5-7)

Today's Daily Brief

1. Austin plane crash was deliberate, officials say - CNN

An Austin, Texas, resident with an apparent grudge against the Internal Revenue Service set his house on fire Thursday and then crashed a small plane into a building housing an IRS office with nearly 200 employees, officials said.

Federal authorities identified the pilot of the Piper Cherokee PA-28 as Joseph Andrew Stack, 53. Two people were injured and one person was missing, local officials said. There were no reported deaths.

- Details of this horrific incident have been unfolding all day long today on our TV screens and over the internet. It is a miracle that no IRS employees were killed today in Austin, and only two wounded. Offer prayer as the Spirit leads, asking for all details to be revealed, and for comfort for those who have been afflicted by this incident. May God have mercy on our nation.

- For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and his ears attend to their prayers. (I Peter 3:12)

2. Obama Appoints Muslim Envoy - OneNewsNow

An Islamic critic and terrorism expert says President Barack Obama should not have named a special envoy to an Islamic organization that is an absolute enemy of the United States. President Barack Obama has named White House lawyer Rashad Hussain as his special envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), which represents 57 Muslim countries. The president claims Hussain is a "hafiz of the Quran" -- one who has memorized Islam's holy book. He also contends that Hussain will continue working to repair U.S.-Islamic relations and develop the types of partnerships Obama called for last year in his address to the Muslim world in Cairo.

- Pray that God will remove the anti-American influence from Mr. Obama s administration. Also pray that somehow the Lord will reach Mr. Obama about placating those whose world view is so radically different than our own that they cannot be reached by negotiation or conciliation. We bind the spirit of deception over Mr. Hussain and loose the Holy Spirit against it.

- Your covenant with death will be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol will not stand (Isaiah 28:18a)

3. Another High-Ranking Taliban Leader Captured in Pakistan - Fox News

Another high-ranking leader of the Taliban in Afghanistan has been captured by a joint U.S.-Pakistani intelligence operation in Pakistan, Fox News has confirmed.

- Thank You, Lord for the capture of more terrorists. We ask for reliable information to be gained from these situations, and that You begin to unravel all threads of the Taliban forever.

- Their children also shall be as before, and their congregation shall be established before Me; and I will punish all who oppress them. (Jeremiah 30:20)

4. U.S. Diplomat, Syrian President Meet in Damascus - Wall Street Journal

Senior U.S. diplomat William Burns met with Syrian President Bashar Assad in Damascus Wednesday, the latest move in a growing rapprochement between Syria and Washington even as outreach to Syrian ally Iran appears to be faltering.

- Lord we pray Your protection over any agreements made between the US and Syria. We pray that all hidden secrets be revealed and all manners of the heart are visible to the American people.

- . . . r he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus which had defeated him, saying Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them, I will sacrifice to them that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him and all Israel. . . (2 Chronicles 28:23)

5. Top U.N. Climate Official Yvo de Boer Resigning - AP

Yvo de Boer, the top U.N. climate change official, is resigning after nearly four years -- mere months before 193 nations are due to reconvene in Mexico for another attempt to reach a worldwide agreement on controlling greenhouse gases.

- Thank You, Lord that there has been confusion in the climate change camp. We pray that You will continue to reveal the deceptions and agendas of those who have espoused this false religion.

- Let my accusers be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own disgrace as with al mantle. (Psalm 109:29)

6. Tuberculosis' deadly return to Europe - EU Observer

Experts worry that Europe, which spent millions battling a Swine flu that killed 14,286 last year, is at a loss when dealing with the threat from the more mundane but far more lethal TB, which strikes down 1.77 million people annually worldwide.

- Lord we ask for a revelation of wisdom for the world s medical community. We pray that they will be able to tackle health threats in a calm and practical manner, without the media hype that followed the H1N1 virus. We ask that Your Spirit begin to bring miracles to bear as witness to Your Presence in the fight against infectious diseases.

- Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence . . . (Psalm 91:3)

7. Haitian Judge Releases 8 of 10 Missionaries - AP

Eight American missionaries are on their way to Miami after being freed from a Haitian jail Wednesday, nearly three weeks after being charged with child kidnapping for trying to take a group of children out of the quake-stricken country.

- We rejoice, Lord, that You have brought these 8 people back to the US. We pray for those who are left, that justice would prevail. - He delivered me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me, for they were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my support. (Psalm 18:17-18)

8. Obama Eyes Western Land for National Monuments, Angering Some
- Fox News

More than a dozen pristine landscapes, wildlife habitats and scenic rivers in 11 Western states, some larger than Rhode Island and Delaware combined, are under consideration by the Obama administration to become America's newest National Monuments.

- Lord as the President reviews this list, we ask that areas which could yield energy development not be tied up. As one of the lands on the list was set by the previous administration for gas and oil development, we pray that You will reveal to Mr. Obama the necessity of obtaining the natural resources in the United States. We pray that the proper protections for the environment be maintained along with the ability to obtain new sources of energy.

- So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found none. ( Ezekiel 22:30)

9. Suburban homeless: Rising tide of women, families - AP

Homelessness in rural and suburban America is straining shelters this winter as the economy founders and joblessness hovers near double digits -- a "perfect storm of foreclosures, unemployment and a shortage of affordable housing," in one official's eyes.

- Father we cry out for Your mercy over the American people. As the government continues to create joblessness and unfathomable debt, we ask for Your help for those left in its wake.

- But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief, to repay it by Your hand. The helpless commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless. (Psalm 10:14)

10. Australia's traditional Anglicans vote to convert to Catholicism - London Telegraph

Traditionalist Anglicans in Australia have become the first to vote in favor of leaving their national church and convert to Roman Catholicism.

- Father, lead these people to worship the Lord God almighty and bow their knees in worship to none other than You. Fill their leaders with righteousness and holiness as they guide the people in truth. In Jesus Name.

- "But seek you first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33)

Sovereignty and Lives at Stake as Debt Grows

Bad things happen when you don't have enough money to pay your bills. America is facing record home foreclosures, with the federal government predicting that at least three million homes will go into foreclosure this year. The government answer to this problem is to throw more tax payer money at it. The jobless rate is upwards of 20%--this includes unemployment at about 10% and another 10% of those who are unable to find jobs. Again the government answers with taxpayer money. Banks, car companies and investment bankers are in debt by the billions. The government answers with instructing the U.S. Treasury to borrow a record $1.9 trillion.

Where will the money come from? It will likely come from Japan and China, which together hold over 42% of U.S. debt. According to CNSNEWS.com, this White House will spend about 25% of the nation's gross domestic product--nearly double the percentage of the GDP that America's top spending president Franklin Delano Roosevelt spent during the great depression. Even federal spending as a percentage of the GDP in World War II is less than what this White House will spend in 2010. In the White House 2010 budget submitted to Congress, the U.S. deficit as a percentage of GDP is estimated at 11%.

To put things in perspective, Greece's government deficit as a percentage of its GDP is about 13%. Greece's government spending has resulted in insolvency. And the European Union Council of Financial Ministers put Greece on notice that it must comply with EU austerity demands by March 16 or lose its sovereignty as a nation. The EU is requiring that Greece reduce its deficit as a percentage of its GDP to thee percent in three years. The UK Telegraph reports that Article 126.9 of the Lisbon Treaty authorizes the EU to seize the sovereignty of Greece because of its insolvency. How much more would America's enemies connive to do the same to the U.S.? And would this group of American leaders even resist?

Revelation 13:7 speaks of the one world order of the end times under the control of the anti-Christ, "And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations." From this verse and the context of the verses around it, the saints resisted the anti-Christ, but he overcame them. A one world united under one leader, with one financial head has absolute power to do whatever he wishes. Allowing leaders to spend and borrow our nation into an insurmountable debt places not only the national security and sovereignty in jeopardy, but also the very lives of the saints who will stand righteously. The prophecy clock is ticking.

HEALTH CARE ALERT!
Less Than 3 Days to Stop Health Care!
(Source: Excerpt of letter from Susan B. Anthony List)
Dear Friend,

This is it.

Congressional Quarterly is reporting that the final health care proposal is going to be released by the White House "as early as Feb 21," just three days from today. Democrats are aggressively putting together a coalition to get a health care bill passed. With a final version coming out as early as Sunday, it is clear that Democrats know they are on the verge of having the votes they need to move forward, and they have a way to do it that is filibuster-proof:

"The most likely way forward is for the House to clear the Senate s health care bill (HR 3590) and for the Senate to pass a package of changes to it, using the filibuster-proof budget reconciliation process. That set of changes would incorporate the deals struck with the House, which would then send the new package to the White House. Obama would first sign the original Senate bill, then the corrections package. The last measure signed into law would be the one that dictates the final shape of the overhaul."

You see, the House passed Stupak language that saves lives and protects taxpayers from funding abortion, but it was stripped in the Senate version. With pressure mounting for the House to pass the Senate version, lives are at stake. Obama has refused to address the issue of abortion and I have zero confidence that he is going to keep abortion funding out of his proposal. And with the immense amount of pressure that Pelosi and Reid have been applying on pro-life Democrats, we cannot let a single one of them cave. . .

Sincerely,

PRAYER REQUEST:

- Lord, we lift our hands and our hearts before you tonight, one more time, for the protection of our unborn children in America, and for the defeat of this health care package, as described. We know that the shedding of innocent blood brings a curse upon our land. We CRY OUT and we ask, in the MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS, that this bill be defeated and obliterated. We draw a blood line around this bill and we decree: "No more, in Jesus Name!" Amen!

- "This far and no further, and here shall your proud waves be stopped!" (Job 38:10)

The Collegiate Day of Prayer

Thursday, February 25, 2010

OUR NATION IS INCREASINGLY IN A CRISIS OF FAITH.
We desperately need a transfusion of God's transforming spirit.
You and I can do something about it.

College campuses are historically places where God has awakened our nation and revived the church to His purposes. More potently than by any other means, change the university and you change the world, said Harvard Professor and UN Ambassador Charles Malik. If we win the spiritual battles on all fronts across our nation but neglect our college campuses all our progress will be undone in a generation.

Jesus said, The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. The problem is with the number of workers rather than the non-believing population. At the same time the war for the hearts and minds of college students has never been stronger. More and more colleges are sending out workers who destroy God s kingdom rather than building it. Students across our nation need a cross-generational prayer movement to shift this tide.

In short, they need you.

For almost 100 years our nation has reserved a special day each year to pray for colleges. God faithfully answered those prayers and America witnessed an era of ongoing revivals and awakenings. Let's believe God together for another great awakening in this generation. There has never been a greater need than right now. Nearly 100 years later, it's time to break the silence!
Would you join with thousands of others to relaunch the Collegiate Day of Prayer in this century? Would you commit to praying individually or gathering a group to pray on the Collegiate Day of Prayer on February 25th? The future of our country and millions of souls depends on winning the spiritual fight for our colleges.

Please do the following two simple things:

1. Visit the collegiatedayofprayer.org to get more information, see who else is praying, and let us know you are praying. Making our prayers visible by joining together will encourage everyone and multiply the number of people praying for students.

2. Forward this email to others, post it on Facebook, your blog, or elsewhere.

The Good News Corner

American Doctor Saw Medical 'Miracles' in Haiti

Dr. Chauncey Crandall, a South Florida cardiologist who spent a week in Haiti tending to victims of the earthquake, says he learned of several miracles while he was there.

His religious faith has taught him to believe in miracles, says Crandall, medical editor of Newsmax newest health newsletter, Dr. Crandall s Heart Health Report. So he d always ask people he encountered in Haiti if they had witnessed miracles, Crandall told Newsmax.TV's Kathleen Walter. The most amazing story, Crandall says, came from two Belgian doctors helping at an orphanage in the mountains of a remote village, destroyed by the earthquake.

The doctors sat with the orphans and would pray, Crandall said. The orphans beseeched God to send them a tent for shelter. Then one day, suddenly, early in the morning, a military cargo plane flew over, and out of the back of the plane came a parachute, and inside the parachute was a tent for 400, Crandall said. They considered that a miracle, and it definitely was, because no one communicated with them. (Newsmax)

"Yes I Know" - the Gaithers

Come, ye sinners, lost and hopeless,
Jesus' blood can make you free;
For He saved the worst among you,
When He saved a wretch like me.

Refrain

And I know, yes, I know
Jesus' blood can make the vilest sinner clean,
And I know, yes, I know
Jesus' blood can make the vilest sinner clean.
To the faint He giveth power,
Through the mountains makes a way;
Findeth water in the desert,
Turns the night to golden day.
Refrain
He will keep thee while the ages
Roll throughout eternity;
Though earth hinders and hell rages,
All must work for good to thee.
Refrain
[You, too, can sing along with the Gaithers by going here.]
