Today's Daily Brief
1. Obama Election Defeat Termed 'Astonishing' - NewsMax
The Obama freight train that has been steamrolling American politics ever since his election one year ago ran squarely into a political brick wall Tuesday night, as Democrats suffered stunning setbacks in the Virginia and New Jersey gubernatorial races.
- Father, You are the One who is keeping score and it is You who put the right people in the office of governor. We ask that You strengthen these men with wisdom, knowledge and understanding to do Your perfect will. You are balancing the scales of holy justice and drawing a line in the sand where truth will prevail. Thank you, Lord, for intervening in the affairs of men and extending Your hand of mercy and grace. In Jesus Name.
- "For God has maintained our right and our cause; You did sit in the throne judging right. And You shall judge the world in righteousness, God shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness." (Psalm 9:4, 8)
2. Maine voters reject gay-marriage law - Yahoo! News
Voters in the northeastern state of Maine repealed a state law that would have allowed same-sex couples to wed, dealing the gay rights movement a heartbreaking defeat in the corner of the country most supportive of gay marriage. Gay marriage has now lost in every single state -- 31 in all -- in which it has been put to a popular vote.
- Father, when You created the world and everything in it, there was perfect balance which has made all Your creation move with godly precision. So we thank You, God, that this vote in Maine is now compliant with Your original masterful plan that cannot be improved upon. In Jesus Name. Amen.
- "So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, 'Be fruitful. and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.' " (Genesis 1:27- 28)
3. Abortion still alive in ObamaCare - American Family Association
Despite repeated attempts by pro-life legislators on both sides of the aisle, taxpayer funding for abortion is back with a vengeance in ObamaCare proposals.
Thus far, all 17 proposed amendments that would prohibit taxpayer funding for abortion in ObamaCare have been defeated. Pro-life Congressman Bart Stupak, a Democrat from Michigan, said of the House's 2,000- page bill (H.R. 3962), "Language in the bill still does not do enough to prevent federal funding from going to abortion services. "I am disappointed the Capps Amendments has remained intact (in the House bill), mandating abortion services for the first time in the nation's history."
- Father, You see the root of greed in this bill that makes murder lawful to kill unborn babies with no remorse. Murder is not only a crime against these babies but against God, in whose image man was made. We decree that God reach out from the realms of heaven, take this bill in Your mighty hand, and crush its power. Man has deceived themselves into believing they are God and can take lives at will. Weaken and destroy that mentality for there is no protection from God in such cases except repentance. In Jesus Name. Amen.
- "So shall you put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, for you shall do that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah." (Deuteronomy 21:9)
4. Capitol to fill Thursday with livid Americans - WND
Lawmakers are calling on Americans to storm the Capitol on Thursday in an "Emergency House Call on Congress" to stop the House from passing the Democrats' health-care bill this week. A group of legislators led by Reps. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., and Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich., will be holding an emergency town-hall meeting outside the Capitol at 12 p.m. to protest the health-care bill set to hit the House floor. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has indicated that a vote on the bill could take place as soon as Thursday.
- Father God, we ask that You would stir the hearts of our citizens to heed the call of these members of Congress and to "show up" on Thursday for this "House Call on Congress." God, send Your angels to encircle this gathering at the Capitol and sound out an alarm against this health care bill loud and clear. We ask that You stand full-stature in the way of this bill passing in the House. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is Your Name in all the earth. The wicked in his pride does persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined. In Jesus Name.
- "Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power." (Psalm 110:3 NAS)
5. Merkel: World must support climate reforms - Washington Times
German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday marked the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall with a speech to Congress calling for global financial order and for wealthy nations to strike a climate-change deal next month.
- Father, we ask that you take out all deals which do not align with Your Word. We ask that You speak with vigilance against every abuse perpetrated by brute force of the oppressor, whoever he be. Restrain men from taking the freedom given to us by God in their attempt to confuse right order. Defeat any and all global financial order that would quell true democracy and allow world powers to put our lives under Socialistic control, or worse, world order. In Jesus Name. Amen.
- "But Jehovah is the true God, he is the living God, and the everlasting King: He is the one who made the earth by His power, who established the world by His wisdom and by His understanding has He stretched out the heavens." (Jeremiah 10:10, 12)
6. Clinton to Iran: Accept nuclear deal, because it won't change - Jerusalem Post
US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Monday that the nuclear offer to Iran, intended to restrain its potential for making a nuclear weapon, should be fully accepted by Iran and will not be changed.
- God, you know the minds of the lawless who are heads of countries, and that the so-called deals of man will be insufficient to withhold the lawless man from the intents of his heart. We decree before our God that this deal with hidden whipsaw action be bound under the blood of Jesus, and that no deal be made without the full intention of Iran to abide by this agreement. In Jesus Name. Amen.
- "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." (Proverbs 18:21)
7. Russia 'simulates' nuclear attack on Poland - London Telegraph
The armed forces are said to have carried out "war games" in which nuclear missiles were fired and troops practiced an amphibious landing on the country's coast.
- God, it is said that Russia "is back as a revisionist power pursuing a 19th-century agenda with 21st-century tactics and methods." This has brought fear to the people and surrounding countries. We ask You Lord to hold back the actual war depicted in these war games that they not materialize until their appointed time in God's schedule. Protect the people as only You can do. In Jesus Name.
- "Take heed that no man deceive you. For when you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars. see that you be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:" (Matthew 24:4, 6, 7)
The Middle East in Focus
This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:
"Trust in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD God is everlasting strength." (Isaiah 26:4)
1. IDF executes largest-ever terror attack simulation - Ha'aretz
The Home Front Command will perform a simulation of a multiple casualty terror attack on Tuesday, the largest drill of its kind to ever take place in Israel.
2. U.S. House backs resolution to condemn Goldstone Gaza report - Ha'aretz
The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday condemned a UN report that accuses Israeli forces and Palestinian militants of committing war crimes in Gaza early this year as irredeemably biased and unworthy of further consideration or legitimacy.
3. IDF: Hamas has rocket that could reach Tel Aviv - Ynet News
Head of the Military Intelligence Directorate, Major-General Amos Yadlin, told the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Tuesday that Hamas has held a successful trial launch of a rocket with a 60 km range.
4. Israel wants Arab 'Marshall Plan' to help Palestinians - AFP
A top Israeli official urged Arab states on Tuesday to create a 10 billion dollar "Marshall Plan" to boost the Palestinian economy and support Middle East peace talks.
5. Jewish terrorist arrested for alleged series of hate crimes - Jerusalem Post
The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and Israel Police have arrested an American-born Jewish settler who is allegedly behind an unprecedented series of deadly terror shootings and bombings spanning over a decade, in which two Palestinians were killed and Israel Prize Laureate Prof. Ze'ev Sternhell was injured. According to the Shin Bet, he also planted a bomb at the entrance to house of a messianic family in Ariel, seriously wounding their son, then-15-year-old Ami Ortiz.
Healthcare House Calls
If you live within driving distance of Washington, D.C., make plans to come to Capitol Hill tomorrow (Thursday, November 5th). Conservatives in Congress, led by CWF- endorsed Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), are calling on concerned citizens to come to the nation's capital to send a message to Obama, Pelosi and Reid.
Fearing that the results of today's elections could sway many nervous Democrats in her caucus, Speaker Nancy Pelosi is reportedly planning to force a vote on her 2,000-page, $1.3 trillion socialized healthcare bill by Friday. Bachmann and other conservatives are organizing an 11th-hour effort to stop PelosiCare, but they need your help.
Come to Capitol Hill this Thursday at noon. Actor Jon Voigt, conservative talk show host Mark Levin and others will hold a rally to protest the Democrats' planned government takeover of healthcare -- yet another major step toward socialism in America. After the rally, citizens can go to the Capitol Hill offices of members of Congress to defend freedom and personally let their elected representatives know that they are against socialized medicine.
If you cannot come to Washington, please make every effort to stop by or call your representative's district office this Thursday. You can find district contact information for your elected officials here. (Be certain to select the "Contact" tab and look for your local district office.)
My friends, if you or others you know are still on the fence about this issue, please watch this shocking expose on socialized healthcare by John Stossel. Then make plans to come to Washington or visit your representative's local office this Thursday, November 5th. (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day)
Blue Dog Democrats: Are you listening?
After last night's crushing defeat of all the Democrat candidates in the major races -- in Virginia (a 3-race sweep) and in New Jersey (in a huge upset) -- and a tremendous defeat in Maine for the radical homosexual movement and their left-wing allies (including the media) all over the nation, the big question now is will the Blue Dog Democrats listen to the American people? Their record of listening to their voters is not good so far this year.
There are some 80 or so Democrats in moderate or conservative districts which were won by either President George W. Bush in 2000 and/or in 2004 or by Senator John McCain last year. It would be inconceivable if a majority of them voted for ObamaCare or PelosiCare or ReidCare during the next two months or for any of Obama's big government programs next year. If these Blue Dog Democrats do so, a majority of them will be defeated in the next two congressional elections.
The first test for the Blue Dog Democrats and other moderate Democrats will be later this week when Nancy Pelosi tries to bring her version of ObamaCare up for a vote this weekend. Before yesterday's stunning election results, the Speaker of the House of Representatives was already struggling to get the 218 votes for her socialist health care bill.
It is now doubtful that Pelosi will get 218 votes for her 1,990-page monstrosity. . . Yesterday's election was an immense repudiation of Barack Obama's socialistic government programs and proposed legislation, including his nearly useless trillion dollar (with interest) stimulus bill; including his over one trillion socialized medicine Obamacare bill; and other big government programs which he is trying to ram-rod through Congress. (Christian Coalition of America; Capitol Notebook; excerpts) Read more.
URGENT - Names for Prayer
Below please find an alert from The Hill (a local newspaper). These are the names of Democrats in Congress who are either going to vote AGAINST (NO) Pelosi's Healthcare bill, or are as yet undecided.

ISRAEL ALONE
It is not to be believed - less than 70 years after Hitler perpetrated his Final Solution on the harassed and humiliated Jewish people - that the world today is prepared to accept another holocaust of these same people, this time governed not by the Nazi spirit and all its brazen anti-Semitism, but by the fanatical ISLAMIC spirit with its sworn and perpetual anti-Zionist hatred.
And the free Western world, as in former days like Chamberlain in Munich, is seeking to to talk with the brutal leaders and dictators who, like Hitler in 'Mein Kampf,' make no secret of their avowed aim: to do away with what is left of this nation: Israel.
We see tiny Israel - with a population half the size of a world city like Tokyo or New York - surrounded by fierce enmity on all sides: The Hizbollah in the north, fully rearmed with even more dangerous weapons than before; Syria with its deadly dangerous VX gas-tipped Scud missiles along the north-eastern border; Jordan, a weak link - always ready to pressure Israel in order to be seen as faithful to the ISLAMIC camp; behind Jordan and Syria Iran, which will soon pose a nuclear threat to Israel; to the south, Hamas in Gaza, a vassal terrorist state armed by Ahmadinejad. In the second circle: Europe, Russia and China, always willing to pressure or criticize Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East. And now Obama, the first U.S. president who seems more interested in mending America's relationship with the world of ISLAM than in staying faithful to the United States' long term commitment to the real security and destiny of Israel.
There Israel stands - alone among the nations of today. Who will come to her help? (International Zionist Christian Center) Read more.
Well Done, Jim Dobson!
Many of you probably have already heard that Dr. James Dobson has officially resigned from the ministry he founded 32 years ago, Focus on the Family. His resignation is effective February 26, 2010. Dr. Dobson has been slowly decreasing his involvement with Focus in recent years. The decision to complete the transition next February was reached after much prayer by Jim and his lovely wife Shirley, and after consultation with the Focus board.
As you can imagine, Jim and Shirley feel a sense of sadness in making a final separation from an organization that they have devoted so much of their lives to. I must confess that I share their sadness too.
I first met Jim when I was serving in the Reagan Administration. More than once, he helped me and put Focus' weight behind me as I fought for our values in government. Over the years our friendship grew. We co- authored a book together, Children At Risk, that was a best-seller and led countless people to become more involved as good citizens.
I have been honored to be a frequent guest on his daily radio broadcast. Over the years on many occasions those shows resulted in hundreds of thousands of phone calls from all around the country pouring into Capitol Hill and the White House in support of faith, family and freedom. I shudder to think how much worse off the country would be if Jim had not been the "Paul Revere" of our time, warning unsuspecting families of what the Washington bureaucracy was planning.
Jim made sure in recent years that he was leaving behind a strong management team at Focus. Jim Daly was named president three years ago. I have the utmost confidence that under Jim Daly's leadership, Focus will continue to be a resource for families in America and across the world. But Jim and Shirley are irreplaceable in many ways. They will be deeply missed at Focus and at dinner tables across the country.
I take comfort in knowing that Jim's resignation from Focus does not mean he has resigned from the great battle for our country. I know God will continue to use him to defend the sanctity of life, promote normal marriage between a man and a woman and help America reclaim our religious heritage. God bless you, Jim and Shirley. Congratulations on a job well done! (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day; Nov. 3, 2009)
- We at Capitol Hill Prayer Partners wish to offer this prayer at the news of Dr. Dobson's resignation from Focus on the Family:
"Father God, we thank You for having given America a faithful saint like Dr. James Dobson, who has held the torch for faith, family and freedom for lo these many years. Lord God, we know not what the future holds for this wonderful and mighty man of God, but we know Who holds his future, so we thank You for the plans You have in store for Dr. Dobson in the days ahead.
We ask that You grace Him with Your peace in this hour, and that You allow Jim and his precious wife, Shirley, a season of rest and refreshing. In Jesus' Name, amen.
- 'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.' (Jer. 33:3)

Below please find an alert from The Hill (a local newspaper). These are the names of Democrats in Congress who are either going to vote AGAINST (NO) Pelosi's Healthcare bill, or are as yet undecided.
Please pray over this list, asking our Lord to turn the hearts of these leaders wheresoever He desires. After you pray, you may TAKE ACTION by caling Congress at 202 - 224-3121 and ask to be connected to your own member of Congress, voicing your opinion on this bill.
Below is a list of selected Democrats and their positions on the House healthcare reform bill based on media accounts, press releases and spokesmen for the lawmakers. Right now is the best time to increase the pressure on them to come our way and press for a health care reform bill that CLEARLY precludes abortion funding and the public option!
