Bush to disclose mortgage reforms for those affected by bad loans; analysts say credit crunch could cause recession. This move is designed to reduce foreclosures.
· Thank You, Lord, for a workable solution to help people with good credit records keep their homes. We ask for these reforms to be strength to families in maintaining a good quality of life.

2. Bush Administration Seeks Appeals Court Ruling Allowing Mexican Cargo Trucks in Country - Fox News
The Bush administration urged a federal appeals court Thursday to let Mexican cargo trucks cross the border and freely travel anywhere in the country, arguing that to do otherwise could strain diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Mexico.

3. Disgraced Senator Expected to Resign Today - CNSNews.com
Sen. Larry Craig, the foot-tapping Republican from Idaho, reportedly plans to resign on Friday, just as the long holiday weekend begins. The report comes from "several well-placed GOP sources," CNN said.

4. Department of Defense awards $1.6 million for implantable biochip research - Clemson University
The Department of Defense has awarded $1.6 million to the Center for Bioelectronics, Biosensors and Biochips (C3B) at Clemson University for the development of an implantable biochip that could relay vital health information if a soldier is wounded in battle or a civilian is hurt in an accident.
·Lord, we ask for Your guidance and instructions in this development to save lives. May wisdom for the future use of biochips be established upon that which is good.

5. U.S. lawmakers' plane fired upon - CNN
A U.S. military plane with three U.S. senators and a U.S. House member on board, came under rocket fire while leaving Baghdad, Iraq, for Amman, Jordan Thursday night and had to take evasive maneuvers. On board were Republican Senators Richard Shelby of Alabama, Mel Martinez, a Florida Republican, and James Inhofe, a Republican from Oklahoma, and Rep. Bud Cramer, an Alabama Democrat. "This is something that our men and women in combat face every day," Cramer said in a statement.
· Offer praise that these members of Congress were not harmed in this attack, nor were the others who were on this flight. Yes, this IS something that our men and women face in combat every day. Praise God for their heroism, and continue to lift up prayers for safety for our troops, no matter how long they stay in Iraq.

America Reaps What It Sows With Politicians And Church Leaders
American politics is in a sorry state largely because Americans, who oft complain about the horrible escapades of their elected representatives, have chosen the secular argument for the state over the moral requirement to hold office or to lead a nation. In the past few weeks, it seems that nothing is sacred among the elected in this nation except that "anything goes" and the underpinnings of true democracy will sort it all out. For example, if the majority of American voters don't care much about illegal fundraising, then the politician has gotten away with it. Or if Americans don't really care about whether a Senator was soliciting sex in an airport bathroom, so be it, life goes on.
The Clinton dynasty of using crooks to raise money continues unabated. Norman Hsu, a convicted felon on the lamb since 1991, has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Democrat Party and was a chief fundraiser for Hillary Clinton. Now that he has been exposed, Hillary says she will give the money back that he raised, both unethically and illegally. Leftist George Soros' organization America Coming Together was fined by the Federal Election Commission for illegally raising the majority some $137 million for Presidential candidate John Kerry. But that's ok because they were fined $775,000 to raise the $137 million-that's considered good business. And Republican Senator Larry Craig was arrested for soliciting sex from a male policeman in an airport restroom.
But its no wonder the politicians are getting away with horrible moral deeds. The Christian church is not faring much better-Episcopalians now say its ok to have homosexuals as clergy; the Catholics have had pedophile sex scandal after scandal and the non- denominational protestant churches are rift with immorality. Just last week, popular Florida Without Walls International Bishop Randy White called up his wife Paula before the congregation and announced he was divorcing her. She loses her pastorship over the church, he takes the pastor's position and the congregation does nothing but support them both in the break up of their second marriage. Where are the consequences?
Somewhere along the line, Americans need to wake up and understand that if they demand no morality among their political and church leaders, they will receive none. Americans have no right to complain if we are to accept far less than what God has planned for us. Founding Father John Adams is quoted as saying, "Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." Jesus said in Matthew 16:6, "Take Heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees." If you allow a little evil in, it grows out of control-even to the place of destroying a nation.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, this flag flying has all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds.
Action Plan: So, here's what we need you to do:
(1) Forward this email to everyone you know (at least 11 people). Please don't be the one to break this chain. Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you. (Some wept, some were dumbfounded, and some prayed)
(2) Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11. Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day.

A Prayer for Children Going Back to School
A new school year, a new beginning. Whether our children are just starting kindergarten, entering high school, or leaving the nest for college, our hearts and hopes go with them. I invite you to bless your child with this beautiful prayer as he or she goes out to face the world. It is a scary world out there and the safety of our children is of the utmost importance. We want our children to absorb and learn all that they can so that their education elevates them to new and higher levels of achievement. For those of you who believe in the power of prayer, the following is a wonderful prayer for them.
Dear God,
Bless all children this day, O God. Instruct them. . . Give them inquiring minds and discerning hearts. Strenghthen them . . . Give them courage to persevere in all they undertake. Delight them . . . Give them the gift of joy and wonder in all things. Befriend them . . . Give them laughter and love to share with all. Guard them . . . Congress Returns Next Week

Congress will return next week from their August District Work Period, to face a heavy schedule of legislative activity. Both the House and the Senate will resume their business on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
As the nation nears another anniversary of the terrible attacks of September 11, we ask you to all redouble your prayers for the protection of this city -- Washington, D.C. -- in particular. May our government continue to run smoothly in the days ahead, and may God's will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Scandal City!
Do you ever have one of those days at work where you are so frustrated about the challenges and problems that you wonder whether it is all worth it? I had one of those days yesterday, as I spent hours talking to hostile reporters about the latest scandal to engulf a Republican member of Congress.
I am sure you have heard the details by now. Senator Larry Craig of Idaho was arrested in June in a Minneapolis airport men?s room by an undercover police officer who alleges that the senator was soliciting him for sex. Craig denied the charge, but nevertheless pled guilty to disorderly conduct.
The story hit the news Monday night, resulting in a press conference by the senator and his wife, during which he vehemently denied he was a homosexual, denied he had done anything inappropriate in the Minneapolis airport and vowed to fight. However, adding to the senator's credibility problem is the fact that rumors about his sexuality have circulated for years, and a homosexual activist claimed to have "outed" him last year.
Republican leaders, unlike in the Foley scandal, were quick to react. Mitt Romney promptly removed Craig as a co-chairman of his campaign. Senator John McCain called the case "disgraceful." Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell informed Craig yesterday that there would be an Ethics Committee investigation. In interviews, I expressed the hope that Craig would see the "handwriting on the wall" and step down from his Senate seat.
Big Media, of course, is having a field day. The same pundits who argued that Bill Clinton having sex in the Oval Office with an intern was a private, personal matter are not only condemning Craig, but they are also speculating that people like you will ?cut and run? from public policy battles and sit out the 2008 elections.
They may be right, but I hope they are wrong. We should be outraged by what the senator appears to have done. But it would be foolish indeed to sit out of the political process and turn the country over to Hillary Clinton, the ACLU, MoveOn.org and the pro-abortion, pro-homosexual rights crowd.
I hope Craig resigns, but I am not going to resign from the battle to defend our values just because we may have discovered another hypocrite in Washington.

1. Outbreaks of Fire, Smoke, Shut Down Metro Stations - Washington Post
Hundreds of Passengers Scramble as All 5 Rail Lines Affected in Washington, D.C.
Five separate outbreaks of fire or smoke on the Metrorail system shut down several stations and halted train service in spots Monday night, in a series of disruptions that appeared to be without precedent in the system's 30-year history. Each of the incidents, which occurred within a two-hour period, appeared to stem from a different cause, Metro officials said. But the overall effect, which sent hundreds of confused passengers scrambling, seemed unnerving and bewildering.
· Although the officials are stating that these incidents were not "terrorist related," nonetheless -- with Congress returning next week from its summer recess -- we ask that all hidden things be revealed and understood about each of these five episodes.

President Bush also is expected to ask Congress for $50 billion more for the war in Iraq following congressional hearings in September featuring Army Gen. David Petraeus and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker.

4. 12 South Koreans Freed In Afghanistan - AP
Taliban militants on Wednesday released 12 of 19 South Korean captives they promised to free under a deal reached in direct talks with the South Korean government to resolve a nearly six-week hostage crisis. The deal was criticized by one Afghan government minister amid concerns it could embolden the insurgents at a time of rising violence in the country. To secure the release of the church workers, South Korea reaffirmed a pledge it made before the hostage crisis began to withdraw its 200-troops from Afghanistan by the end of this year. Seoul also said it would prevent South Korean Christian missionaries from working in the country. A German engineer and four Afghan colleagues kidnapped a day before the South Koreans are still being held.

5. GOP Senator Pleaded Guilty After Restroom Arrest - Washington Post
Sen. Larry E. Craig (R-ID), pleaded guilty earlier this month to misdemeanor disorderly-conduct charges stemming from his June arrest by an undercover police officer in a men's restroom at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, a court spokeswoman and the senator's office said yesterday.

Some fear any more bad news about the U.S. mortgage crisis will revive investor fears and shatter last week's uneasy calm on Wall Street. Others are still wondering if the crisis could signal an overall downturn in the U.S. economy. It appears that approximately 1.5 million people will lose their homes to foreclosure this year and in 2008. On Tuesday, U.S. home prices fell 3.2 percent in the second quarter for the biggest drop in Standard & Poor's nationwide housing index in 20 years.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' resignation Monday after months of draining controversy drew expressions of relief from Republicans and a vow from Democrats to pursue their investigation into the firing of eight U.S. attorneys and the handling of FBI terror investigations. The president named Paul Clement, the solicitor general, as a temporary replacement. With 17-months remaining in office, there was no indication when Bush would name a successor or how quickly or easily the Senate might confirm one.
· To the Ancient of Days, we ask You to determine how the remaining 17-months of the Bush administration will unfold, including the selection of a Godly Attorney General of the United States! We humbly ask that You will come to Your son, George W., and influence him in his waking and sleeping hours regarding this position and in all that he does for eternity. The Palestinian government has ordered the closure of 103 institutions in the West Bank and Gaza, Prime Minister Salam Fayyad said Monday, in an apparent crackdown aimed at Hamas. The formal reason is violation of laws governing civil groups.

Islam's Evil Doings In America
The Justice Department also named the North American Islamic Trust, the Islamic Society of North America, and the Council on American Islamic Relations as unindicted co-conspirators. Of course, CAIR is crying bloody murder over being named in the trial and has filed a law suit demanding that its name be removed. Part of the indicting evidence showed films of fundraising events held right here on American soil where one of the defendants, a member of the Islamic Association of Palestine, acted out a skit saying "I am Hamas and I'm going to kill Jews." And then he acts out the killing of a Jew to the applause of the audience.
Americans need to realize that these types of groups, most of them underground, are alive and operating throughout the United States. Islam is not a religion of peace. It is an aggressive cult aimed at world domination. Islam is incompatible with representative government and the rule of law as Americans know it. Islamic law, no matter how it is packaged, is brutal, barbaric, oppressive and totalitarian. The leading nations in the world participating in human slave and sex trade are Islamic. In Afghanistan, the Taliban-a totalitarian Islamic sect-is producing some 95% of the world's opium, which funds terrorists to the tune of $3.0 billion per year.
How would a good and peaceful religion use the promise of death to Jews, slavery, and illegal drug sales to advance its cause? If this kind of behavior was taking place in Christianity, there would be an outcry so loud in the Christian community and in the news media that these things would be stopped. Yet whenever someone raises a voice against illegal and hate filled Islamic activity, they are pummeled with accusations of hate speech. It is time for Americans to take a stand that their country will not fall to these barbarians. 1 Corinthians 15:33 says, "Do not be deceived: Evil company corrupts good morals." Islam is evil company and cannot peacefully co- exist in a Constitutional Republic.

1. Blood Red Moon Visible Across the U.S. - ABC News
The Earth's shadow crept across the moon's surface early Tuesday, slowly eclipsing it and turning it shades of orange and red. The total lunar eclipse, the second this year, was visible in North and South America, especially in the West.

It is not often that we can tell when a shooting star was first released from a comet into space . . . Only in recent years have we learned to trace young meteor showers, just a few revolutions old, to their date of origin. The oldest such shower, but only one revolution old, is due in the early morning of September 1, 2007. Our calculations indicate Earth is about to cross the dust trail of comet Kiess, a comet that takes some 2000 years to complete one orbit around the Sun.

Firefighters backed by aircraft dropped water and foam on the birthplace of the ancient Olympics Sunday to stop wildfires from burning the 2,800-year-old ruins, one of the most revered sites of antiquity.

· First of all, we ask our Lord to show His mercy upon the people of Greece at that time, that lives be spared and that those who are fighting these fires be strengthened and equipped to do so effectively.
· Second, we recall that the teachings and philosophy of ancient Greece have been the taproot of secular humanism in the modern age. Homosexuality was also freely practiced in ancient Greece, as well. In the midst of judgment, may God yet remember MERCY.

It drove terror deep into Mexico, smashing ashore as the third most powerful Atlantic hurricane ever to hit land. But the furious beast proved relatively toothless, thanks to large-scale preparations -- and a lot of luck. Dean missed all major cities, tearing through areas of tiny villages, farmland and forest. It didn't linger like more damaging storms, and by the time it hit key oil platforms and ports, Dean had weakened.
· What man calls "luck" is in reality the divine intervention of a merciful God, who hears and answers the prayers of His saints. Offer PRAISE that this storm did so little damage, and ask our Lord to comfort the families of the eight who lost their lives to Hurricane Dean. Stand in repentance that the world, in its stubbornness, continues to refuse to give GOD the Glory, when He so clearly moves on our behalf!

Watching the total and gradual moon eclipse this morning, I prayed that God would so overshadow me that my entire countenance and persona would be changed. And yet, I don't want to be just a reflection or a shadow. I want to radiate as Jesus radiates with the His true glory and light.
The Lord would say to you today, take every opportunity to shine bright for your God. Do not ever settle for just a shadow of Me when you have the brightness of My glory in the person of Jesus shining through you. Eclipsed.
· "Every good gift and every perfect gift comes down from above, from the Father of lights, with whom is no variation nor shadow of turning." (James 1:16,17)

We are just days away from a powerful moment, when millions of Christians in every nation across the planet will join in faith and unity to pray together for the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem.
This massive prayer initiative, one of the largest in Church history, has now been reported and referenced by major news outlets around the world. The Jerusalem Celebration of the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem will be carried live into 192 nations on God TV.
Literally, in every corner of the planet, churches are preparing to stand in agreement with Psalm 122, and with one another in hope, and pray for God's presence and peace to flood the streets of Jerusalem, and minister peace to all of her inhabitants, Jew and Arab alike.
