British police defused a bomb they discovered in a parked car in central London on Friday and launched a counter-terrorism investigation. Later today, another bomb was found in a second Mercedes in London. A manhunt is now underway as police defuse deadly Iraq-style car bomb.

· Lord, we thank You for exposing this evil and protecting against it. We ask for Your continual protection and exposing of bombs and evil plans.· "The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. · Pray that the American citizens will take heed and be especially alert to any unusual activity in the days ahead, especially as the day draws near for our most important national holiday -- the Fourth of July. · "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." 3. Senate Approves Three-Month Extension on Abstinence Funding - Family Research Council

Last night, the Senate agreed to at least a three- month extension of the federal matching funds for state abstinence education programs.

[Note: please see full article on this news, posted separately on today's Brief.]

· Thank You, Lord for this extension. We ask that during this brief period momentum for righteouness will grow. · But to the Son He says: "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteouness is the scepter of Your Kindgom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions." (Heb. 1:8,9)

4. Fed policymakers hold interest rates steady - MSNBC

As we prosper physically may righteousness and wisdom prosper among us. · Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; and let them say continually, "Let the Lord be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant." And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness and of Your praise all the day long. (Ps. 35:27,28)

5. Democrats Give White House 10 Days to Explain Asserting Executive Privilege - AP

Congressional Democrats took the first steps Friday in what could be a long march to court, with the Bush administration and Congress in a legal tug-of-war over executive and legislative branch powers. In a letter to White House counsel Fred Fielding, the heads of the Judiciary committees demanded an explanation in 10 days of why the White House claimed executive privilege on subpoenaed documents and vowed to invoke "the full force of law."

The fight centers on an investigation that Democrats initially undertook into the firings of several U.S. attorneys, but which has since branched out to scrutiny of the administration's terrorism-era warrantless wiretapping and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' stewardship of the Justice Department. "The veil of secrecy you have attempted to pull over the White House by withholding documents and witnesses is unprecedented and damaging to the tradition of open government by and for the people that has been a hallmark of the republic," Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., and Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., told Fielding.

· Ask the Lord to send forth His angels to help end this tug-of-war by severing these cords asunder. Ask that His grace would enter in, once again, to restore the "balance" in our balance of power; and thank Him that our nation is a nation under law. · "Let all things be done decently and in order." (1 Corinthians 14:40)

May all of his thoughts be those of our Savior; and may he be granted special "wisdom from above" in these strategic meetings. · "First of all . . .pray for kings . . . and all those in authority . . ." (I Tim. 2:1,2)

7. Putin's Arctic invasion: Russia lays claim to the North Pole - and all its gas, oil, and diamonds - UK Daily Mail

Russian President Vladimir Putin is making an astonishing bid to grab a vast chunk of the Arctic - so he can tap its vast potential oil, gas and mineral wealth.

· You alone establish borders and boundaries. Protect the resources from evil men who seek to deceive. Our trust is in You. · The righteous also shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him saying, "Here is the man who did not make God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strenghened himself in his wickedness." (Ps. 52:6-8)

8. Russia successfully tests new ballistic missile - Jerusalem Post

Capt. Igor Dygalo told The Associated Press that the Bulava missile hit its target on the Pacific peninsula of Kamchatka after being launched from the submarine Dmitry Donskoi in the White Sea. Three earlier tests of the Bulava in recent years ended in failure, raising questions about the missile, which has been hailed as a key future component of Russia's nuclear arsenal.

· We make a declaration, " Lord Jesus Christ ruler of all that is and will ever be, we ask you to tear down what needs to be torn down and to build up what needs to be built up." · "Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. See, I have this day set you over the naitons and over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant." (Jeremiah 1:9b,10)

· "There are many plans in a man's heart, nevertheless the Lord's counsel, that will stand." (Prov. 19:21)

Senate Extends Abstinence Funding

Senate Takes Five on Title V

Thanks to our many readers who contacted their elected officials, Title V abstinence funding will live to see another day--95, to be exact. Last night, the Senate agreed to at least a three-month extension of the federal matching funds for state abstinence education programs. Despite the liberals' ambush on abstinence, leaders from both parties, including Sens. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) and Max Baucus (D-Mont.), worked together to ensure that the entitlement would not expire.

As we applaud our friends on the Hill for acting quickly to salvage the funds, let's remember that the battle for Title V is far from over. Although the decision has given pro-family activists a brief reprieve, it postpones what is certain to be a bitter debate for full reauthorization at the end of this fiscal year. No doubt proponents of comprehensive sex ed are salivating at the chance to eliminate the competition in September. This may be summer, but we cannot afford to take a vacation from contacting Congress. Join us in turning up the heat in support of Title V and the well-being of the next generation.

Russia Expands its Borders through the Artic

Russian Invasion of the North Pole Has Prophetic Impact

Russia's blatant move to expand its borders through the Arctic is indicative of a quest for worldwide power that may propel the nation toward fulfillment of ancient prophecies that place it as a leader of all the armed forces against Israel. Russian scientists have returned from a six-week mission in the Artic to claim that the 1,220-mile long underwater Lomonosov Ridge is geologically linked to the Siberian continental platform - and similar in structure. The Russians are refuting a United Nations convention that says no nation can claim jurisdiction over the Arctic seabed because the geological structure does not match the surrounding continental shelves. Currently, Russia, Canada, the U.S., Norway and Denmark are limited to a 200 mile economic zone around their coasts.

The reason Russia is going public with its claim is that geologists believe the arctic ridge has ten billion tons of gas and oil deposits and significant sources of diamonds, gold, tin, manganese, nickel, lead and platinum. According to a story in Britain's Daily Mail, the Russian claim has diplomats in an uproar. The U.S. State Department dismissed the claim as unacceptable. A Canadian diplomat was surprised. But a British diplomat gave keen insight when he told the Daily Mail that "Putin wants a strong Russia, and Western dependence on it for oil and gas supplies is a key part of his strategy. He no longer cares if it upsets the West."

Russia is once again making a play to establish its own one world order. Its alliances with oil producing Arab and Islamist states indicate that the strategy is to control the world's natural resources in order to control the world's political environment. Certainly, Russia has shown that it doesn't care if parts of Europe freeze in the winter, so long as it is paid its own asking price for natural gas which is often linked to the political goals of its trading partners. Russia has been busy signing gas and oil exploration and development agreements with Middle East nations, and its relationship with Iran hinges on arms and nuclear technology in exchange for oil and gas.

Ezekiel 38:9 speaks of Gog, modern day Russia attacking Israel, "you will ascend, coming like a storm, covering the land like a cloud, you and all your troops and many peoples with you." Included on the list of Russian allies in the attack against Israel are Iran and the nations of Northern Africa. Russia believes that Israel should not exist, and it arms and politically sides with terrorist groups whose mission is to destroy Israel. For Russia to be so bold as to openly attack Israel, Russia must believe it can do so without reprisal. One way to ensure its path is to have leverage over all the nations. Part of Russia's current plan is to leverage all the energy resources in the world against those who would support Israel. This is how prophecy is unfolding before your eyes.

1. Immigration Bill Fails A Crucial Test Vote - Fox News

A defiant group of senators refused to continue down the path of a widely unpopular immigration reform bill Thursday, putting up a roadblock on a procedural debate and squeezing out any time left to work on one of President Bush's top domestic priorities.

∙ Father, we thank You that this bill has reached an impasse. We pray that now our legislators will start over to create legislation that will truly protect our borders, and not respond to political agendas on either side. ∙ "For He has strengthened the bars of your gates; He has blessed your children within you. 4. Court Rules On Race-Based School Admissions - CNSNews.com

The Supreme Court has once again tilted 5-4 to the conservative side, handing down a ruling Thursday that will make it harder for schools to achieve the government goal of racial diversity -- but easier for students to attend schools in their own neighborhoods.

∙ Father, we thank you for a Conservative viewpoint on the court, and that parents will be able to send their children to schools closer to home. We do ask that all schools be given proper and complete tools for teaching in both staff and materials. The Senate's "grand compromise" bill on comprehensive immigration reform has failed! The deeply flawed bill fell 14 votes short of the 60 necessary to end debate and move ahead to a full vote. The lopsided vote means that in the last two days, 18 senators who originally supported the bill- six Democrats and 12 Republicans-ultimately changed their minds and voted against it. In a press conference after the vote, a dejected President Bush said, "A lot of us worked hard to see if we couldn't find common ground. It didn't work." All indications are that this vote puts an end to efforts to reform immigration this year, and possibly until after the 2008 election.

Even more, Republican senators who opposed the bill said a significant part of the reason it failed was because the American public was broadly united against it and had made its views known by inundating Congress with E-mails and phone calls. Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM), who once supported the bill but ended up voting against it, said he was "getting hammered here at home, " while Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) asked, "What part of 'no' don't we understand?" DeMint said that the immigration battle had "reengaged the American people," and that the bill " has become a war between the American people and their government This vote today is really not about immigration, it's about whether we're going to listen to the American people."

1. White House, Cheney's Office Subpoenaed by the Senate - AP

The Senate subpoenaed the White House and Vice President Dick Cheney's office Wednesday, demanding documents and elevating the confrontation with President Bush over the administration's warrant-free eavesdropping on Americans. Separately, the Senate Judiciary Committee also is summoning Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to discuss the program and an array of other matters that have cost a half-dozen top Justice Department officials their jobs, committee chairman Patrick Leahy announced.

Echoing its response to previous congressional subpoenas to former administration officials Harriet Miers and Sara Taylor, the White House gave no indication that it would comply with the new ones. In fact, the Judiciary Committee's three most senior Republicans - Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, former chairman Orrin Hatch of Utah and Chuck Grassley of Iowa - sided with Democrats on the 13-3 vote last week to give Leahy the power to issue the subpoenas.

The showdown between the White House and Congress could land in federal court.

· Pray in the spirit as this confrontation between the two branches of government grows. Our God is a God of justice; He will prevail and His will shall be done, in the end.

· "The Lord is our judge; the Lord is our lawgiver; the Lord is our king; and He will save us." (Isaiah 33:22)

Secure Borders Now is a website for Americans to urge the Senate to consider immigration reform that focuses on enforcing existing border security laws and not granting millions of illegal immigrants amnesty. This blog will continue to provide up to the minute information about the latest developments in the Senate.

· Many of us who tried to get through to our own senators yesterday were unable to do so, due to the volume of calls and emails that were being sent to the Senate on this issue alone. "Secure Borders Now" offers an opportunity to sign a petition and let your voice be heard on this issue, if you do not support the amnesty provisions of the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act. You can visit this blog by hitting this link.

· Thank God for this website, sponsored by Senator James Inhofe, that is focusing on enforcing the already existing border security laws. Also thanks too, that this website will keep us informed as to the action in the Senate, in this ongoing plight of the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act. We are grateful for the ability to sign petitions, to Secure Borders Now!

· "Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God and set a watch against them day and night, because of them." (Nehemiah 4:9) "Be ye not afraid of them, remember The Lord which is great and terrible and fight for your brethren, your sons and you daughters, your wives and your houses." (Nehemiah 4:14b)

3. Border Patrol to US Virgin Islands: You're On Your Own - CNSNews.com

The U.S. Virgin Islands, a convenient Caribbean paradise, has no passport requirement for American citizens. But that convenience is also making the Virgin Islands a conduit through which illegal immigrants, and possibly terrorists, are finding their way onto U.S. soil, according to law enforcement and government officials.

· Pray that God will grant wisdom to the right government officials in the Virgin Islands to know the dire need in having Passport Requirements for the safety of their own people and land as well as that of the USA.

· "But the wisdom that is from above is first peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated full of mercy and good fruits without partiality and without hypocrisy." (James 3:17)

U.S. commander of new offensive north of Baghdad says Iraqi forces cannot be relied on to hold territory seized from insurgents. Brigadier General Mick Bednarek said Iraqi forces had insufficient arms and were "not quite up to the job yet".

· First cry out for the souls of these Iraqi forces whom God loves, that through Christ they shall rise up and do valiantly in holding territory already seized from the insurgents as well as regaining all that was lost!

· " . . .out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens." (Hebrews 12:34b)

6. Tony Blair Accepts Appointment as Middle East Peace Envoy - AP

The United Nations, United States, European Union and Russia announced the appointment Wednesday of Tony Blair as their representative to promote peace between Israel and the Palestinians. A statement from the so-called Quartet of international mediators said the former British prime minister will seek to mobilize international assistance to the Palestinians and develop plans to promote Palestinian economic development. Blair will also seek international support to address the needs of Palestinian government institutions, "focusing as a matter of urgency on the rule of law," the statement said.

· As Tony Blair moves into his new position as an ambassador for the "Quartet," ask our Lord to grant him great wisdom, direction and guidance in this end- time role. An avowed Christian, pray that all other supernatural influences would be bound from affecting his decisions in this office, and that he would hear and obey ONLY the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in his new role. This report from the Associated Press only mentions "Palestine," but the TRUTH is that Israel needs to be acknowledged, too. May God whisper in the ear of Tony Blair His secret ways of leading . . . In Jesus Name, amen.

· "The Lord has opened my ear and I was not rebellious, neither turned away." (Isaiah 50:5)

Torrential storms blamed for at least 11 deaths over the past week flooded parts of central Texas early Wednesday, stranding dozens of people on roofs, in trees and in vehicles. "We got hard facts of 18-plus inches of rain in a couple of those places since midnight," Austin-Travis County emergency medical services spokesman Warren Hassinger said just after 7 a.m. More rain was expected, the National Weather Service said.

Meanwhile, in northern California, efforts to tame a raging wildfire that has destroyed some 200 homes near Lake Tahoe suffered a setback when a backfire set by firefighters to control the blaze jumped a fireline, forcing a new round of evacuations, authorities said. The fire started Sunday near the south end of Lake Tahoe. By Tuesday evening, it had consumed more than 3,000 acres - about 4.69 square miles - and was about 44 percent contained.

· Pray for those who are battling the fires in California and the floods in Texas, that they be strengthened in their roles. Pray for protection for all who are in the paths of this devastation. Pray!

· "The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16)

1. Ahmadinejad puts "moderate" Arabs on notice - Jerusalem Newswire

Egypt and Jordan were informed Tuesday that Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad disapproves of their "moderate" stance towards Israel and holds them accountable for "helping the Zionist regime oppress the Palestinian people [sic]." They are guilty, he said, of "betrayal." Although the majority of Egyptians and Jordanians hate Israel and support efforts to destroy it, the leadership in both countries has signed peace agreements with the Jewish state. Ahmadinejad has ambitions to dominate the Middle East by rushing to fill the void left when a "defeated" United States pulls its soldiers out of Iraq. Middle East observers expect that, with 45 percent of Middle East oil then under its control, and with nuclear weapons within reach, Tehran will seek to coerce Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan into once again adopting rejectionist policies towards Israel.

Traffic jams developed near some gasoline stations as police officers worked to control long lines.

"Solid Rock" -- A Good Word for Today

"Solid rock"

Troubles will come as long as you are on the earth. You wonder, "When will these troubles stop knocking on my door?

" But I say unto you this day, allow Me to answer the knock on your door. In this way, you will have peace and joy forevermore. You will feel the brunt of the knock but the trouble is My enemy and not yours. When the knock comes, let Me conceal you next to Myself and hide you under My apron.

Are you humble enough, child-like enough to do this? Of course you are and as you do this, I will lift you upon on the Rock who is Jesus. Once never, refuse to leave. Solid Rock.

· But He, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, And did not destroy them. Yes, many a time He turned His anger away, And did not stir up all His wrath; for He remembered that they were but flesh, A breath that passes away and does not come again. (Psalms 78:38,39)

5. World Bank Unanimously Approves Robert Zoellick As Next President - AP

Robert B. Zoellick, a seasoned player in international financial and diplomatic circles, won the unanimous approval of the World Bank's board yesterday to become its next president. 'I am ready to get to work,' Zoellick said shortly after the board's action. Bush, in welcoming the board's action yesterday, called Zoellick 'a dynamic leader who is deeply committed to the mission of the World Bank.'

· With so many nations influenced by the World Bank's decisions, we pray for God's wisdom for Robert Zoellick as next President of the World Bank in its role of financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world. We pray that nations will also become rich in spreading the gospel; also, in knowing and serving the Lord.

· By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life. (Proverbs 22:4)

6. Afghan boy outsmarts the Taliban - AP

The story of a 6-year-old Afghan boy who says he thwarted an effort by Taliban militants to trick him into being a suicide bomber provoked tears and anger at a meeting of tribal leaders.

· Lord, we pray that the Taliban will not be able to continue their abominations by using little children as suicide bombers. Let there be freedom for Christian workers in Iraq to spread the gospel so they can truly be free!

· You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which the Lord your God is giving you for all time." (Deuteronomy 4:40)

WORLD OFFICIALS MEET IN JERUSALEM

WORLD OFFICIALS MEET IN JERUSALEM TO DISCUSS GAZA AND A PALESTINIAN STATE
..Jerusalem, 1898 a.d.
JERUSALEM, June 26 - International mediators met here today to discuss Israeli- Palestinian relations after the seizure of power in the Gaza Strip by Hamas.

The officials from the United States, the European Union, Russia and the United Nations held their talks in the American consulate here a day after the leaders of Egypt, Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian Authority held a summit in Egypt to show support for the government sworn in last week by the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah.

At the summit on Monday in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, Ehud Olmert, Israel's prime minister, said in his closing statement that as a gesture of good will, he would release 250 Fatah prisoners from Israeli jails after they sign a commitment not to return to violence. About 9,000 Palestinians are being held in Israeli jails. Attending the meeting were President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, King Abdullah of Jordan, Mr. Olmert and Mr. Abbas.

In a move apparently intended to upstage the meeting, Hamas released an audiotape on Monday that it said was the voice of Cpl. Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier captured a year ago in a cross- border raid and believed to be held by the Hamas military wing and two other militant factions. The tape, released on the anniversary of the raid, was the first sign of life from Corporal Shalit since he was taken to Gaza. (NYT, Timesonline.co.uk)

"Behold, all those who were incensed against you Shall be ashamed and disgraced; They shall be as nothing, And those who strive with you shall perish. You shall seek them and not find them- Those who contended with you. Those who war against you Shall be as nothing, As a nonexistent thing." (Isaiah 41:10,11)

Iran is deploying missiles in Syria in preparation for military action if it is attacked over its nuclear program, U.N. officials in the region said.

2. Iranian forces 'crossed Iraqi border' - UK Sun

Last night an intelligence source told The Sun: "It is an extremely alarming development and raises the stakes considerably. In effect, it means we are in a full on war with Iran -- but nobody has officially declared it. We have hard proof that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps have crossed the border to attack us. It is very hard for us to strike back. All we can do is try to defend ourselves."

3. Iran: Police Storm Christian's Home - Voice of the Martyrs

"A new wave of persecution is coming against Christians that meet to worship God in the privacy of their homes," according to Voice of the Martyrs (VOM). "We have confirmed reports that several believers have been interrogated and one house was stormed by an elite police team that confiscated a computer, several CDs and Christian materials. A Christian was arrested and remains in prison."

Experts monitoring such persecution say that Christians make up a tiny percentage of the people of Iran, where the government "officially" allows Christians to practice their faith but in reality intervenes and harasses Christians regularly. Note: Ahmadinejad is urging Iranians to prepare for the coming of the Imam Mahdi by turning the country into a mighty and advanced Islamic society and by avoiding the corruption and excesses of the West. Shiites believe the imam disappeared as a child in the year 941, but when he returns he will reign on earth for seven years, before bringing about a final judgment and the end of the world.

1. U.S. ENVOY: NORTH KOREA DISARMAMENT TALKS "BACK ON TRACK"

The chief U.S. envoy to the six-party negotiations on North Korea's nuclear program says the process is "back on track" now that a long-running banking dispute has been resolved. But Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian Affairs Christopher Hill says the effort faces key challenges in the next few weeks, including whether Pyongyang will admit having a uranium-based weapons project. The financial dispute over $25 million in North Korean funds frozen at a Chinese bank in Macao stalled the nuclear talks for more than a year, and was settled only after a visit to Pyongyang by Assistant Secretary Hill last week.

Hill, just back from 10 days of diplomatic shuttling in Asia, told reporters here the next few weeks will be critical, and potentially problem-ridden, as participants in the six-party process look to an unprecedented ministerial-level meeting as early as the end of July. (Voice of America)

· Offer praise to the Lord for the tenacity of Mr. Hill. His diligent and patient efforts with the North Koreans seems to be paying off. Begin now to intercede for the ministerial- level meeting at the end of July. May God's will be done for the people of North Korea, and for the security of the nations that surround her. · " The hand of the diligent will rule . . ."(Proverbs 12:24a)

2. EU CHIEFS "SATISFIED" WITH TREATY

EU leaders have expressed measured approval of a draft treaty to reform EU systems agreed at a summit in Brussels. German Chancellor Angela Merkel hailed a good compromise with Poland over planned changes to voting rights, which proved the key to the final agreement. French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Europe was moving again, while British PM Tony Blair said the EU could now concentrate on issues of real concern. Following marathon discussions which were at times on the brink of failure, leaders from the 27- member bloc emerged smiling at dawn on Saturday to announce the results.

The treaty, to be finalised later this year, will come into force in mid-2009. The new treaty preserves much of the planned EU constitution, which was rejected by French and Dutch voters during referendums in 2005. It will need to be ratified by each of the EU's member states. (BBC)

· Father God, we ask You to give the European Union a way to find it's way to Your leadership and plan for these countries.

· "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29: 11-13 NKJV)

3. 'CHEMICAL ALI' TO HANG FOR KILLING KURDS

Saddam Hussein's cousin, known as 'Chemical Ali', and two other regime officials were sentenced this past weekend to hang for slaughtering as many as 180,000 Kurdish men, women, and children with chemical weapons, artillery barrages, and mass executions two decades ago. Two other defendants were sentenced to life in prison for their roles in the 1987-88 genocides. Saddam's cousin, Ali Hasan al- Majid, gained his nickname for ordering the use of mustard gas and nerve agents against the Kurds in response to their collaboration with the Iranians during the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war.

Witnesses testified that Iraqi government forces indiscriminately attacked women and children, burned crops, killed livestock, and rounded up civilians into detention camps in a campaign to exterminate the restive Kurdish minority. Al-Majid, once among the most powerful and feared men in Iraq, trembled in silence as Iraqi Judge al-Khalifa read the verdict against him and imposed five death sentences for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. The Kurds are grateful that some measure of justice has been granted them. (Washington Times)

· Praise the Lord for justice for the Kurds, although their loved ones cannot live again. Like so many minority peoples, they have suffered immeasurably. However, most do not know the Lord but instead tend to be weak Moslems. Recently, some northern Iraqi Kurds have asked America to send Christian missionaries so that the concept of forgiveness can be taught and they can be healed of the bitterness of their persecution. Praise the Lord!

· "When the wicked rise, men hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous increase." (Proverbs 28:28)

4. U.S.-IRAQI OFFENSIVE YIELDS RESULTS

At least 30 suspected insurgents have been killed in two days of operations being conducted in Diyala province as part of a major thrust by U.S. and Iraqi forces to clear Al Qaeda operatives from the region. During this operation, 1,000 roadside bombs were also uncovered. The latest operation is targeting insurgents who have tried to establish Baqubah as their own capital with strictly Islamic rules imposed on residents. It is part of a broader attempt by U.S. troops to choke both Sunni insurgents and Shiite militiamen operating in the areas ringing the capital, Baghdad. (LA Times, 6/20/07)

· Focus on Middle East Foreign Policy. Pray that the Lord grant wisdom, discernment, courage, protection, grace for diplomacy and direction to President Bush, Vice President Cheney, Secretary of State Rice, Secretary of Defense Gates, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Pace, UN Ambassador Khalilzad and all involved in foreign policy decisions.

· Offer thanksgiving for the increasing understanding of the traumas of war, the spiritual needs of soldiers, the strains upon their families, and of how to alleviate post- traumatic stress syndrome. Pray for all chaplains, counselors, pastors, local churches, ministries and federal and local agencies and staff working to meet the needs of deployed and returning members of the U.S. Military. 5. ARABS MAKE PLANS FOR NUCLEAR POWER

As Iran races ahead with an illicit uranium enrichment effort, nearly a dozen other Middle East nations are moving forward on their own civilian nuclear programs. In the latest development, a team of eight U.N. experts ended a weeklong trip in late May to Saudi Arabia to provide nuclear guidance to officials from six Persian Gulf countries. Diplomats and analysts view the Saudi trip as the latest sign that Iran's suspected weapons program has helped spark a chain reaction of nuclear interest among its Arab rivals, which some fear will lead to a scramble for atomic weapons in the world's most volatile region.

The International Atomic Energy Agency sent the team of nuclear experts to Riyadh, the Saudi capital, to advise the Gulf Cooperation Council on building nuclear energy plants. Together, the council members - Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the seven sheikdoms of the United Arab Emirates - control nearly half the world's known oil reserves.

Other nations that have said they plan to construct civilian nuclear reactors or have sought technical assistance and advice from the IAEA, the Vienna- based United Nations nuclear watchdog agency, in the last year include Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Turkey and Yemen, as well as several North African nations. (LA Times)

· Rivalry and competition and oil wealth have created a basic recipe for dangerous nuclear disasters in the Middle East. Our hearts could be filled with fear if we did not know that God has everything under control. Ask the Lord to bring the nuclear plans of these nations to dust, for in many of these countries there is abject poverty. Many of their citizens and residents need help to improve their lives. Ask that monies directed to nuclear power be re-focussed on helping lives.

· "Cast thy burden upon the Lord; 'He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved." (Psalm 55:22)

6. PRESIDENT BUSH, ISRAEL'S OLMERT SUPPORT TWO-STATE SOLUTION

U.S. Department of State Press Release - The United States and Israel support the creation of a Palestinian state that would live side by side in peace with Israel, President Bush says. Prime Minister Olmert pledged to initiate a new round of regular direct talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas aimed at security issues and improving the delivery of essential services to the Palestinian people as a precursor to new progress toward the "two- state solution" long advocated by the Bush administration. "This is the ultimate goal, to create a Palestinian state," Olmert said. "We have to prepare the groundwork that will allow - - soon, I hope -- to be able to start serious negotiations about the creation of a Palestinian state." (U.S. Department of State, 6/19/07)

· June 24, 2002 will be the fifth anniversary of the President's address articulating America's position on Palestinian rights and obligations, terrorism, and peace. It was during that speech in the Rose Garden that Mr. Bush aligned American policy with the goal of a Palestinian state.

Pray that the Lord would frustrate, disrupt and turn away all attempts made by the Bush Administration or the U.S. State Department to advance plans to create a "Palestinian State" using land promised to the people of Israel, the inheritors of God's promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

LET US STAND IN REPENTACE AND CRY OUT FOR MERCY as President Bush's position and declarations to further "divide up of the land" stands in stark opposition to the Word of God. Scripture shows severe dealings and judgment for nations who "divide up the land" of Israel. (Joel 3:2) Pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6) and for it to remain Israel's undivided capital. (Source: Intercessors for America)

7. OLMERT, ABBAS TO ATTEND EGYPT- SPONSORED SUMMIT

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas [Abu Mazen] will attend a regional summit next week sponsored by Egypt at Sharm El-Sheikh. The aim of the summit is to strengthen Abbas's newly instated government and jumpstart peace talks between Israel and the PA. Jordan's King Abdullah II will also attend.

Returning from Washington, Olmert told reporters that the situation due to the Hamas takeover in Gaza has presented new opportunities that must be taken advantage of. At meetings with US President George W. Bush and administration officials, Olmert said Israel will act and support a two-state solution and intends to cooperate with Abbas's government.

Meanwhile, Israel facilitated the transfer of approximately 100 Palestinians seeking to flee Gaza, who were permitted to enter Egypt after undergoing strict security checks. The move was made in coordination with Egyptian officials. The Palestinians had been huddled at the Erez crossing for days, waiting for Israel to permit them in. (By Margot Dudkevitch, Infolive.tv, June 21, 2007) [Reported by: Bridges for Peace]

· Praise God that Israel allowed so many to leave Gaza safely. Pray that Gaza will soon be free of the ultra-radical, violent Hamas terror group and that order will be restored in its streets.

· "The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. But they lie in wait for their own blood, they lurk secretly for their own lives. So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; it takes away the life of its owners" (Psalm 34:16; Proverbs 1:18-19).

8. CHRISTIANS MUST ACCEPT ISLAMIC RULE IN GAZA

Christians can only continue living safely in the Gaza Strip if they accept Islamic law, including a ban on alcohol and on women roaming publicly without proper head coverings, an Islamist militant leader in Gaza told WND [WorldNetDaily] in an exclusive interview. The militant leader said Christians in Gaza who engage in "missionary activity" will be "dealt with harshly."

The threats come two days after a church and a Christian school in Gaza were attacked following the seizure of power in the territory by the Hamas terror group. "I expect our Christian neighbors to understand the new Hamas rule means real changes. They must be ready for Islamic rule if they want to live in peace in Gaza," said Sheikh Abu Saqer, leader of Jihadia Salafiya, an Islamic outreach movement that recently announced the opening of a "military wing" to enforce Muslim law in Gaza.

Jihadia Salafiya is suspected of attacking a UN school in Gaza last month, after the school allowed boys and girls to participate in the same sporting event. One person was killed in that attack. "The situation has now changed 180 degrees in Gaza," said Abu Saqer, speaking from Gaza yesterday. Abu Saqer accused the leadership of the Gaza Christian community of "proselytizing and trying to convert Muslims with funding from American evangelicals. This missionary activity is endangering the entire Christian community in Gaza," he said. He claimed there was "no need" for the thousands of Christians in Gaza to maintain a large number of institutions in the territory.

About 2,000 Christians live in the Gaza Strip, which has a population of over 1 million. Abu Saqer said Hamas "must work to impose an Islamic rule or it will lose the authority it has and the will of the people." (WorldNetDaily) [Reported by: Bridges for Peace]

· Sharia (Islamic) law will not only affect Christians but all women in Gaza. Is this what they bargained for when they voted in Hamas? Pray for the Christian community as they will either have to flee this oppressive government or live under terrible persecution.

· "Remember this, that the enemy has reproached, O LORD, and that a foolish people has blasphemed Your name. Oh, do not deliver the life of Your turtledove to the wild beast! Do not forget the life of Your poor forever." (Psalm 74:18-19)

9. GAY PARADE FELL BELOW THE HYPE

Police outnumbered the participants in the Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade by more than two to one. For those who predicted 100,000 people on the streets of Jerusalem, it was a dismal flop. Nevertheless the organizers and their supporters claimed a great success as they were able to stage their public event despite strong opposition from many. About 2,000 people participated in a parade described as colorful more than confrontational. The parade did proceed but not as planned. Authorities reduced the parade route and canceled the evening activities. Twenty rioters were arrested for protesting against the parade, but the protests were a far cry from spikes in the street, a feature of objections last year.

Instead of uniting with the rest of Israel to fight against Islamic fundamentalism which would kill them all, the organizers issued pamphlets saying, "the purpose of the event is to protest against homophobia and incitement and promote the community's rights." The marchers would have no right to "come out of the closet" in Ramallah, for fear of their lives.

Some who resisted the parade sat on the ground and wept. A resident of Orthodox Mea Shearim was detained on Thursday. He had in his possession a home-made bomb which he planned to ignite on the route of the parade. Police said if ignited, the bomb would have caused casualties. (By Ron Ross, Bridges for Peace Audio, June 22, 2007, excerpt)

· Thank God that the parade was a pale shadow of what the organizers planned. Pray that the parade will be permanently banned in Jerusalem or anywhere in Israel. Pray also that homosexuals will pursue healing and not think that this lifestyle (a sin) is acceptable or a right.

· "For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles-when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries." (1 Peter 4:3)
