The Daily Brief - Wednesday, September 30, 2009

"Blessed are those servants whom the Master, when He comes, will find watching." (Luke 12:37)

The Daily Brief

1. Iran Fires Long Range Missiles Able To Hit Israel - Worthy News

Iran on Monday, September 28, "test" fired long range Shabab-3 and Sajjil rockets that could potentially reach Israel and U.S. military bases in the Gulf region, Iranian media said.

- Offer up a chorus of praise that GOD is greater than any enemy of Israel; and He promises to protect His land. Think of the heavenly host He has in His arsenal, that will go to battle for the land of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, when the trumpet sounds. Pray!

- "O God, do not keep silent;be not quiet, O God, be not still. See how your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads. . . As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the mountains ablaze, so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm." (Psalm 83:2,3,14,15)

PLEASE MEDITATE UPON ALL OF PSALM 83 FOR ISRAEL, AND MAKE IT A DECREE OVER HER LAND.

2. Samoa islands tsunami kills at least 99 - MSNBC

A powerful Pacific Ocean earthquake spawned towering tsunami waves that swept ashore on Samoa and American Samoa early Tuesday, flattening villages, killing at least 99 people and leaving dozens of workers missing at devastated National Park Service facilities. [To see a slideshow of the devastation in American Samoa, go here

Up to 200 Dead in Indonesia Earthquake - AP

A powerful earthquake rocked western Indonesia Wednesday, trapping thousands under collapsed buildings - including two hospitals - and triggering landslides. The magnitude 7.6 quake struck at 5:15 p.m. local time, just off the coast of Padang city the U.S. Geological Survey said. It was along the same fault line that spawned the massive 2004 Asian tsunami that killed more than 230,000 people in a dozen countries.

- Lift up all who are now bringing relief to these devastated areas. May God grace each one with His supernatural strength, to be able to "be there" for others in this hour. Offer praise that the President has acted quickly, promising to bring resources to the affected areas. Finally, ask our Lord to comfort all who mourn today over lost loved ones; and pray that all who are missing will be found.

- "For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears attend to their prayer." (I Peter 3:12)

3. BULLETIN: Senate Committee Votes to Fund Abortions in Obamacare - Christian Coalition of America

Today, in the Senate Financial Services Committee, an amendment to prevent federal funding for abortions was defeated by a 13-10 vote. Democrat Senator Kent Conrad from North Dakota voted for Senator Orrin Hatch's amendment and Republican Senator Olympia Snowe from Maine voted against the Hatch amendment.

The Democrat majority on the Senate committee also defied the will of the overwhelming majority of the American people and voted 13-10 against a Hatch amendment providing conscience clause protections for health care workers who do not want to participate in abortions.

Roberta Combs, President of the Christian Coalition of America. "The committee majority defied the will of 75% of the American people who do not want their tax dollars going to fund abortions, even including many of those who support abortions."

- Scripture is clear: The shedding of innocent blood brings a CURSE upon a nation. Cry out for Mercy upon the mercy heart of our God; and stand in the gap between a civil government that Defies his law, and the Kingdom government that stands forever. Amen.

- "So you shall not pollute the land where you are; for blood defiles the land, and no atonement can be made for the land, for the blood that is shed on it, except by the blood of him who shed it." (Numbers 35:33) "Therefore He said that He would destroy them, Had not Moses His chosen one stood before Him in the breach, to turn away His wrath, lest He destroy them." (Ps. 106:23)

4. Senate Panel Rejects Public Health Insurance Option - Washington Post

The Senate Finance Committee rejected amendments yesterday that would include the so-called "public option" in its version of health care reform legislation. Liberal Democrats failed twice on Tuesday to include a government-run insurance option in the legislation before the committee, the last of five congressional panels completing work on the president's top domestic priority.

- Rejoice greatly before the Father on this one, a huge victory, effectively drowning out the "public option". Continue fervently interceding that Mr. Obama will soon sign a bill "of the people, by the people, and for the people", leaving every decision about Health Care in the hands of the American people, and not the government.

- "Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer." (Romans 12:12)

5. Senate Panel Rebuffs Obama; Restores Abstinence Funds - NewsMax

A Senate committee has voted to restore $50 million a year in federal funding for abstinence-only education that President Barack Obama had sought to eliminate.

- Thank the Father for this victory in education on abstinence. Rejoice that restoration to a godly virtue, abstaining from sex until marriage, will now be funded by the Federal Government. Ask God to forgive Mr. Obama for not understanding His truths and the heart of honor that God calls His people to walk in.

- "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." (Romans 12:2)

6. ACORN May Face Trial for First Time as Nevada Prosecutors Allege 'Widespread' Criminal Policies - Fox News

When ACORN took to Las Vegas and started playing "Blackjack" and "21," the activist group was making a far bigger gamble than it ever guessed, according to Nevada prosecutors.

- Please pray that the paper trail implicating ACORN will serve to uncover all records and reveal the whole group and its many "enhanced performances", most of which lie outside of the laws of our land. Intercede for exposure, as the IRS and Census Bureau have severed ties with them, that ACORN, all its affiliates, and all companies of this nature will no longer be tolerated in the United States of America. Intercede for all funding to be cut immediately.

- "You will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny." (Matthew 5:26)

7. US diplomat holds high-level secret talks with Cuba - London Telegraph

A senior American diplomat has held unannounced, high-level talks in Havana with the Cuban government, State Department officials have revealed, raising the possibility of more rapidly improved relations.

- Pray that these talks between the Communist regime in Cuba and a diplomat from our nation, will produce only the results that God desires.

- "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm then, do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yolk of slavery." (Galatians 5:1)

IAF jets struck three arms smuggling tunnels in the southern Gaza Strip over night, in response to the Qassam rockets fired at Israel Tuesday evening.

"Safe Schools" Czar under Fire

Kevin Jennings Needs to Resign as 'Safe Schools Czar'

Family Research Council during the spring of 2008 was the first organization to highlight the radical record of Kevin Jennings, President Obama's choice for "safe schools czar." At the time, our concerns were met with little more than a yawn from the mainstream media. Today the spotlight is back on Kevin Jennings. Over the last two weeks, press outlets like FoxNews.com, Rush Limbaugh and Lou Dobbs have picked up the Jennings story, and the Washington Times ran an editorial demanding an answer regarding Jennings's appointment.

Of course, one of the most shocking pieces of news about Jennings is a story he's told himself (in different ways at different times) about a 15 year old student who came to him and confessed that he was having sex with older men in a bus station restroom. Instead of reporting the high-risk behavior to the boy's parents, school administrators or the police, Jennings's only response was, "I hope you knew to use a condom."

Jennings has shown a disregard for parental rights and for our children's well being, yet he is the President's choice to keep our schools safe! Safe for sexual predators it would seem!

Please contact your state school board and let them know that this is unacceptable, and they need to let the President know: it is time Kevin Jennings resigns! Thank you and God bless you.

Sincerely,

Tony Perkins

Get Free Health Care -- In Jail!

Senator Max Baucus' (D-MT) latest "bi-partisan" healthcare bill has been criticized by Republicans and Democrats alike. The liberals in Congress are upset because it does not provide for a public option, while conservatives are upset that it still amounts to a government takeover of healthcare and forces individuals to buy healthcare coverage whether they like it or not. A large percentage of younger workers in our country are healthy and would prefer not to pay for healthcare coverage. Also, many wealthy Americans, who can afford to pay their own bills, don't want to be forced to buy a policy they don't need.

But what, under the Baucus plan, would happen to people who refused to buy health insurance? The bill states that a $1,900 "excise tax" would be assessed. Senator John Ensign (R-NV) asked what would happen to someone who refused to pay the tax. He was told by Tom Barthold, Chief of Staff for the Senate's Joint Committee on Taxation, that the person could be charged with a misdemeanor, face up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $25,000.

"Buyer's Remorse"

More "Buyer's Remorse" On Obama

More and more, voters who supported Obama last November are having second thoughts now. Richard Cohen, the very liberal Washington Post columnist, wrote this morning that Obama was "appearing promiscuously on television and granting interviews like the presidential candidate he no longer is." He added, "The trouble with Obama is that he gets into the moment and means what he says for that moment only." That sounds like something Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity would say!

CNBC editor Charles Gasparino wrote in the New York Post today that Wall Street executives feel betrayed by Obama too. Citing top people from places like Morgan Stanley, Black Rock and J.P. Morgan, Gasparino wrote:

"The guy (Obama) who seemed like such a steady voice -- vowing to curb runaway spending and restoring order to the banking system and the economy as a whole -- is instead so driven to achieve his big- government policy goals that he and his policy people are ignoring their own economic advisors on the severe economic costs that his agenda will cause."

What amazes me is how anyone on Wall Street could have thought Barack Obama was a moderate. Had they never heard about Reverend Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers, MoveOn.org, Code Pink, ACORN and all the other socialists and lefties that were important in his life and at the heart of his campaign? (Gary Bauer; End-of- Day; 9/29/09)

Idolatry Indoctrination Forced Upon the Children of America

There is a concentrated and planned effort by leftists in this nation to indoctrinate young children to idolize the man who occupies the Oval Office. Many are pointing to this man and saying that he is the messiah--included among them were pre-election pronouncements by people like Nation of Islam's Louis Farrakhan, who said of him in October 2008, "When the messiah speaks, the youth will hear, and the Messiah is absolutely speaking." A town in Minnesota displayed a sculpture of him riding a donkey over palms, and news reporter Chris Matthews tagged his coming to power as "New Testament." School children are the targets for this indoctrination campaign.

A Burlington, New Jersey Elementary school has come under criticism for defending a video that was recorded showing about 20 second graders singing praise songs to Obama. The song is a version of the song "Jesus loves the little children" and applied them to the occupant of the White House, saying, "red, yellow, black or white, all are equal in his sight." The teacher was a campaign supporter and is now under investigation. But these types of indoctrinations in schools are apparently occurring across America. The National Education Association has distributed a pledge video of celebrities pledging support to the man in the White House.

Now there is a children's book offered on Amazon.com entitled "Obama: Son of Promise, Child of Hope." One of the 43 reviews of the book says, "Most distracting, as noted by other reviewers, was the "Lion King/Messiah/Star Wars/Chosen One" kind of vibe given to Obama throughout the narrative...While it's good to teach children to respect the President of the United States, this book fairly jumps across the line from respect to breathless worship." Another reviewer wrote, "It's loosely based in fact, but the author takes many liberties, creating an almost Messiah-like view of the Illinois Senator. If you are a responsible parent, you should look elsewhere."

The indoctrination of children that there is a new messiah on the block and you should worship him is a page directly taken from megalomaniac dictators who appoint themselves leaders for life. Can anyone say "Hitler Youth?" This is a cruel and deceitful imposition on children that should be punished the same as child predators. Jesus said in Matthew 18:6, "But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea." A word study on "offend" reveals that it means "scandalize" or "entice to sin." Exodus 20:3 says, "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." This is idolatry plain and simple.

Obama Announces Mideast Policy at U.N.

Obama -Time for Unconditional Mideast Peace Talks

US President Barack Obama has set a deadline for the middle of October to check up on the progress on talks setting up new Israel-Palestinian peace negotiations, according to White House transcripts of Obama's public comments. Meanwhile, in his speech to the United Nations, Obama officially endorsed the "Jewish state of Israel" and "a viable, independent Palestinian state with contiguous territory that ends the occupation that began in 1967."

He also called for the start to negotiations "without preconditions," a veiled critique on the Palestinian insistence no talks begin before Israel halts all settlement construction.

Addressing reporters before his trilateral meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Obama said, "Simply put, it is past time to talk about starting negotiations . . . It is time to move forward . . .Permanent status negotiations must begin and begin soon. And more importantly, we must give those negotiations the opportunity to succeed." In his UN speech, Obama said the "time has come" to address security, borders, refugees and the status of Jerusalem.

Both Netanyahu and Abbas were to send their teams back to the US this week, while US Special Envoy to the Middle East George Mitchell was to meet with negotiators from both sides. Obama is upping the political players directly involved in the process by tabbing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as the one to "report" to the US leader "on the status of these negotiations in mid-October."
(By Joshua Spurlock, BFP Israel Mosaic Radio, September 24, 2009; excerpt)

Prayer Focus:
Pray that the government of Israel will remain strong in its resolve to make only those decisions that are in the best interests of the people of Israel trusting in the Lord for His wisdom; that they will not give in to pressure from the Obama administration; that the ties between the two countries will remain sound though not always in agreement.

Scripture:
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and depart from evil." (Proverbs 3:5-7)

Looking Back: Yom Kippur

This year, Jews around the world celebrated their High Holy Day -- Yom Kippur -- on Sunday, September 27th.

Please find below a commentary on the meaning of Yom Kippur from our good friends at Bridges for Peace. And please pray, in agreement, with their own prayer request, at the end.

As the festival season continues in Israel, September 27 is Yom Kippur. The following from the Bridges for Peace book, "Israel and the Church God's Road Map," explains this significant holiday:

Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement)-Leviticus 23:26-32

Yom Kippur is the most holy day of the year in Israel. In English Bibles, it is called the Day of Atonement. It is sometimes called the Shabbat of Shabbats [Sabbath of Sabbaths]. This is the day when the High Priest in biblical times entered the Holy of Holies to seek forgiveness of sins for him and the nation. It is a day when Jews seek forgiveness from God. The synagogues are full of worshippers. It is a day of complete fasting from food and water. The vast majority of the country participates, with over 80% fasting. This is fascinating, considering at least 50% of the population consider themselves secular. In fact, persons who observe little or nothing of their Jewish heritage year-round often attend a synagogue on this day.

Prayer Focus:
Pray for the Jewish people as they prepare for and participate in this holiest of days. May their hearts be turned with passion to the God of their fathers. May He protect them worldwide and bless them with a peaceful holiday season.

Islam on Capitol Hill

Thousands of praying Americans joined a nationwide prayer call last Thursday evening (hosted by the Nation Day of Prayer Task Force and led by Shirley Dobson, Lou Engle, Tony Perkins and others) to pray over the massive Muslim prayer rally planned for last Friday on Capitol Hill. About a thousand Muslim worshipers came. Rifqa Bary, an unexpected participant in the NDPTF call, shared her testimony and led a prayer for the Muslim people. Perhaps a thousand Christian evangelists and prayer warriors were on site and posted at Metro stops around the city hoping to reach thousands of Muslim visitors with Bibles, gospel tracts, and DVDs.

- Praise God! May widespread Christian prayer continue to restrain militant Islam and the radicalization of peaceful practitioners. May vital Christianity preempt the spread of Islam by the sharing of the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those who have been blinded by the "god of this age."

- "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12) (Source: Family Research Council Prayer Targets)

The Daily Brief - Tuesday, September 29, 2009

"Blessed are those servants whom the Master, when He comes, will find watching." (Luke 12:37)

The Daily Brief

1. Accomplices in NYC terror plot known - AP

Court papers allege that at least three people helped Najibullah Zazi buy beauty products containing peroxide and acetone in suburban Denver. The chemicals can be used to make homemade bombs. As authorities have continued to search for additional suspects, they've issued a flurry of terrorism warnings for sports complexes, hotels and transit systems based on their investigation.

· Heavenly Father, we thank you that these terrorist plots have been revealed and stopped. We pray for even greater discernment upon our people to recognize these evil plotters, and for them to be quickly captured.

· Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, But establish the just; For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds. ( Psalms 7:9)

2. Officials to track shot's side effects - Washington Post

The government is starting an unprecedented system to track possible side effects as mass flu vaccinations begin next month. The idea is to detect any rare but real problems quickly and explain the inevitable coincidences that are sure to cause some false alarms.

· Heavenly Father, we pray as these vaccines are being developed, the scientists will quickly detect any potential danger that might put people in jeopardy. Let this flu season be short and the ill effects minimal.

· No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11) For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. (Psalms 91:10, 11)

3. Senate Financial Services Committee Abortion Vote Today - Family Research Council

Members of the U.S. Senate Financial Services Committee will be voting TODAY, September 29, on amendments to keep abortion coverage out of Sen. Max Baucus's (D-Mont.) health care bill. Sen. Baucus's health care bill explicitly includes abortion and would subsidize health plans that cover all elective abortions. Such subsidies for abortion goes well beyond the status quo of preventing federal funds either from paying for abortion or subsidizing plans that covers abortion as is prevented under current laws governing Medicaid, the Federal Employee Health Benefits Plan, and the State Children's Health Insurance Plan.

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) has introduced several amendments that would prevent government funding for abortion and would protect current conscience laws for health workers.

· Please pray that these senators, on the Financial Services Committee, will support Sen. Hatch's amendments to keep government funded abortions out of the Baucus bill: Senators Jeff Bingaman, Thomas Carper, Kent Conrad, Blanche Lincoln, Bill Nelson, Olympia Snowe.

· "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." (Proverbs 14:34)

4. Video Shows Teens Beating Chicago Student to Death - Breitbart

Cell phone footage showing a group of teens viciously kicking and striking a 16-year-old honors student with splintered railroad ties has ramped up pressure on Chicago officials to address chronic violence that has led to dozens of deaths of city teens each year.

· Lord, we pray for these people who are doing violence in our land to be locked up in a secure place where they will come to salvation. We pray against violence on the schools. We release peace in Jesus Name.

· They said, 'Repent now everyone of his evil way and his evil doings, and dwell in the land that the Lord has given to you and your fathers forever and ever. (Jeremiah 25:5)

5. U.S. Commander in Afghanistan Talked with Obama Only Once - Breitbart

This revelation comes amid the explosive publication of a classified report written by the general that said the war in Afghanistan "will likely result in failure" if more troops are not added next year. Yet, the debate over health care reform continues to dominate Washington's political discussions.

· Lord, with all the issues going on in our nation, we pray that You will give Obama and his Administration the right priorities that are most important, such as the defense of our nation.

· "Talk no more so very proudly; Let no arrogance come from your mouth, For the Lord is the God of knowledge; And by Him actions are weighed." (1 Samuel 2:3)

6. Defense Bill, Lauded by White House, Contains Billions in Earmarks - Washington Post

President Obama has repeatedly promised to fight "the special interests, contractors and entrenched lobbyists" that he says have distorted military priorities and bloated appropriations in the past. In August, he told a convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars that "if Congress sends me a defense bill loaded with a bunch of pork, I will veto it."

· Lord, we pray for all officials to either not incorporate earmarks into our bills or that they be removed. We pray for integrity and Your justice to be in our officials and our land.

· Then it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the Lord our God, as He has commanded us. (Deuteronomy 6:25)

7. Secret Service Probing Facebook Poll on Obama - USA Today

The poll asked respondents "Should Obama be killed?" The choices: No, Maybe, Yes, and Yes if he cuts my health care. The question was not created by Facebook, but by an independent person using an add-on application that has been suspended from the site. Because the application was disabled, the responses to the nonscientific polls are not available.

· Lord, we pray that people who are upset with what is currently going on in our nation, will not incite nor do violence to our officials. Let every protest be orderly and effective.

· And he spoke to the congregation, saying, "Depart now from the tents of these wicked men! Touch nothing of theirs, lest you be consumed in all their sins." (Numbers 16:26)

Mark it down in your calendars - spring 2010. If everything taking place right now on the Iranian front continues as expected, it is then that Israel will need to make one of its most difficult decisions ever - to attack Iran or allow it to continue with its nuclear program.

2. PM's emissaries to meet Mitchell in DC - Ynet News

Hawaii Family Forum Receives Focus Action's Family Champion Award

Focus on the Family Action recognized three "Family Champions" at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., last weekend.

One of those recipients, Dennis Arakaki, executive director of the Hawaii Family Forum (HFF), was honored for his work in defeating civil-union legislation. He overcame unusual odds against a liberal-controlled Legislature.

Through steady e-mail alerts and strategic rallies, the organization successfully mobilized grassroots opposition, even countering an intensive campaign by mainland gay-activist groups. Due to the valiant efforts of HFF, marriage in Hawaii is safe from attempts to redefine it for now. (CitizenLink)

3. Top Republican pulls out of intelligence investigation - Washington Times

The top Republican on the Senate intelligence committee has pulled out of the panel's bipartisan review of Bush-era terrorist interrogation techniques, saying Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.'s criminal investigation into the CIA undermines the committee's ability to interview witnesses. "Had Mr. Holder honored the pledge made by the president to look forward, not backwards, we would still be active participants in the committee's review," said Sen. Christopher S. Bond of Missouri, the panel's vice chairman. "Instead, DOJ sent a loud and clear message that previous decisions to decline prosecution mean nothing and old criminal charges can be brought anytime against anyone

- against these odds, what current or former CIA employee would be willing to gamble his freedom by answering the committee's questions?"

- Thank You for those who are standing strong for their beliefs. We know that you will be the bulwark of all who make decisions based on thoughtful, prayerful consideration.

- "Then the king was very pleased and gave orders for Daniel to be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den and no injury whatever was found on him, because he had trusted in his God." (Daniel 6:23)

- May all Americans be aware of the details of the health care bills that are currently being considered in Congress and may there be alerts for any worrisome provisions.

5. Sunstein: Force broadcasters to air 'diversity' ads - WND

The U.S. government should have the right to force broadcast media companies to air commercials that foster a "diversity" of views, argued President Obama's newly confirmed regulatory czar, Cass Sunstein.

- Lord, we pray that members of this administration will be cognizant of the importance of the First Amendment and that there will not be unconstitutional restrictions placed on citizens and companies.

6. Obama: G20 brought economy back from brink - AP

World leaders on Friday issued sweeping promises to fix a malfunctioning global economic system in hopes of heading off future financial meltdowns. President Barack Obama said actions taken so far "brought the global economy back from the brink."

- We know that You are the origin of all treasure in this world, both physical and spiritual. We ask that You will keep us humble to recognize who is our true sustainer.

- "It is better to take refuge in the LORD Than to trust in princes." (Psalm 118:9)

7. Iran Nuclear Site Could Pose Test to U.S., Israel Ties - Fox News

Iran's disclosure that it has been building a secret nuclear site ratchets up already simmering tensions between the Islamic Republic and Israel, raising questions about whether President Obama retains enough influence to prevent Israel from launching a preemptive military strike should Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government turn to its last resort. Polls show Obama's popularity is waning in Israel, where some say his administration is too conciliatory toward the Palestinians.

He also took a beating in the Israeli press for his speech at the U.N. on Wednesday, when he warned that "America does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements," though Israeli officials continued to publicly praise him for his efforts at restarting peace talks. The president made clear Friday that he remains committed to "serious, meaningful engagement with Iran" to deal with the nuclear issue through upcoming talks among Iran, Germany and the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council.

- As new revelations keep coming out, we pray that world leaders will step up to support Israel and act against Iran's plans for nuclear weapons.

- "Alas, sinful nation, People weighed down with iniquity, Offspring of evildoers, Sons who act corruptly! They have abandoned the LORD, They have despised the Holy One of Israel, They have turned away from Him." (Isaiah 1:4)

The Middle East in Focus

1. Quartet keeps pressure for Mideast peace talks - Ynet News

The Quartet of Middle East peace negotiators renewed its call for Israel to freeze settlements in the territories on Thursday, two days after US President Barack Obama appeared to back off this as a precondition for new peace talks.

2. Netanyahu to UN: Iran fueled by fundamentalism - Ynet News

Speaking before the UN General Assembly in New York on Thursday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slammed Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's speech at the forum, saying those who believe Tehran is a threat only to Israel are wrong.

Netanyahu Speaks Out At The UN

Israeli Leader Blasts Ahmadinejad at U.N.
- Washington Post

Brandishing Nazi orders for the extermination of the Jews, Israel's prime minister blasted Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday for continuing to deny that the Holocaust occurred and rebuked U.N. delegates who politely listened to the Iranian leader's speech Wednesday, demanding, "Have you no shame?" Netanyahu appealed to the U.N. delegates to stand up to Iran, saying that its government could not be trusted and that its nuclear program posed the greatest threat to democratic governments. "Will the international community stop the terrorist regime of Iran from developing atomic weapons?" he said. "Well, ladies and gentleman, the jury is still out on the U.N., and recent signs are not encouraging."

- Praise God for the courage of Israeli PM Netanyahu to speak the truth about the lying and deception being promulgated by the voices at the UN. Netanyahu's speech was well documented by citations from history and from the Bible. Netanyahu is a Joshua in his own person, encouraged no doubt by the prayers of Christians and Jews. Voices such as Netanyahu prove the ineptitude and incompetency of the UN, the organization that receives its largest monetary support from the USA.

- "For Zion's sake I [the Lord] will not keep silent." (Isaiah 62:1)

Obama and Afghanistan

Signs of America's surrender in Afghanistan

Is the Democrat Party getting ready to surrender yet another American ally to our enemies? There are signs that this could be the case. In today's "The Washington Times," a front-page story has the headline: "Will Army brass get day in Congress?" The article says that the Republicans in Congress are eager to help Obama's generals in the Pentagon receive a troop surge in Afghanistan which the generals need to successfully win the war.

The question of the year is, will the president listen to his generals and give them the extra troops needed for victory in Afghanistan? Obama's hero, Republican President Abraham Lincoln, listened to his generals, especially Ulysses S. Grant, and won the Civil War.

Considering the track record of the anti-war majority faction in the Democrat Party, victory against our enemies in Afghanistan does not look promising. The anti-war Democrat majority in the early 1970's forced a surrender to America's communist enemies in South Vietnam. This same anti-war faction almost caused America to surrender in Iraq just a few years ago, but President George W. Bush listened to his generals and gave them the troop "surge" they requested and the war in Iraq has been won.

Time is of the essence for the president to make his decision about a troop surge demanded by our generals or he will not only bring about America's surrender to our enemies in Afghanistan, but he will be endangering our American troops and allied troops who are there right now waiting for him to act. Obama - Student of History?

A Commentary by William J. Federer

In his speech in Cairo, Egypt, June 4, 2009, President B. Hussein Obama stated: "As a student of history, I also know . . . the first nation to recognize my country was Morocco." The Muslim nation of Morocco was indeed the first nation to recognize the United States, but Obama's presentation hints of intentional ambiguity, or "obamaguity." Pilgrims settled Massachusetts in 1620.

Governor William Bradford recorded in his "History of the Plymouth Settlement" that in 1625 two ships sailed back to England filled with dried fish and beaver skins to trade for supplies: "They went joyfully and had such fine weather, till they were well within the England channel . . . "But even there she was unhappily taken by a Turkish man-of-war and carried off to Saller (Morocco) where the captain and crew were made slaves . . . "Thus all their hopes were dashed and the joyful news they meant to carry home was turned to heavy tidings. "Adventurers were so reduced by their losses last year, and now by the ship taken by the Turks that all trade was dead."

. . . By 1640, hundreds of English ships and over 3,000 British subjects were enslaved in Algiers and 1,500 in Tunis. In three centuries, over a million Europeans were enslaved by Muslim Barbary Pirates. . . .Giles Milton wrote of Thomas Pellow, born in an English fishing village in 1704. "At the age of 11, Thomas Pellow was captured by Muslim Barbary Pirates when his uncle's ship was taken. "Thomas Pellow became property of Sultan Moulay Ismail, and, along with 25,000 other European slaves, was put to work building the Sultan's grand palace in Meknes, nicknamed the "Versailles of Morocco." Witnessing tortures, beheadings and forced conversions to Islam, Thomas Pellow escaped after 23 years. A distant relative, Sir Edward Pellew, led the British fleet to bombard Algiers in 1816, freeing thousands of slaves.

Review Ordered of Video Showing Students Singing Praises of Obama
- Fox News

The commissioner of New Jersey's Department of Education ordered a review on Friday following the posting of a YouTube video depicting school children singing the praises of President Obama. In a statement to FOXNews.com, Education Department spokeswoman Beth Auerswald said Commissioner Lucille Davy has directed the school's superintendent to review the matter.

Auerswald said Davy wants to ensure that students can celebrate Black History Month without "inappropriate partisan politics in the classroom."

As critics of the video claimed it amounted to "indoctrination," the tension at B. Bernice Young Elementary School escalated to such a degree Thursday that the school was placed temporarily on lockdown after its principal received death threats over a YouTube video that showed nearly 20 children being taught songs lauding the president, though back-to- school night events continuing as planned Thursday night at the school.

Video of the students at the Burlington, N.J., school shows them singing songs seemingly overflowing with campaign slogans and praise for "Barack Hussein Obama," repeatedly chanting the president's name and celebrating his accomplishments, including his "great plans" to "make this country's economy No. 1 again."

One song that the children were taught quotes directly from the spiritual "Jesus Loves the Little Children," though Jesus' name is replaced with Obama's: "He said red, yellow, black or white/All are equal in his sight. Barack Hussein Obama."

Other families arriving at Bernice Young Elementary to pick up their children said they were outraged at the songs, which also tout a fair-pay bill Obama signed in January: "He said we must be clear today/Equal work means equal pay."

"I felt this was reminiscent of 1930s Germany, and the indoctrination of children to worship their leader," said Robert Bowen, father of two children at Bernice Young Elementary.

Lyrics to the Songs: Song 1: Mm, mmm, mm! Barack Hussein Obama He said that all must lend a hand To make this country strong again Mmm, mmm, mm! Barack Hussein Obama He said we must be fair today Equal work means equal pay Mmm, mmm, mm! Barack Hussein Obama He said that we must take a stand To make sure everyone gets a chance Mmm, mmm, mm! Barack Hussein Obama He said red, yellow, black or white All are equal in his sight Mmm, mmm, mm! Barack Hussein Obama Yes! Mmm, mmm, mm Barack Hussein Obama

Song 2: Hello, Mr. President we honor you today! For all your great accomplishments, we all doth say "hooray!" Hooray, Mr. President! You're number one! The first black American to lead this great nation! Hooray, Mr. President we honor your great plans To make this country's economy number one again! Hooray Mr. President, we're really proud of you! And we stand for all Americans under the great Red, White, and Blue! So continue ---- Mr. President we know you'll do the trick So here's a hearty hip-hooray ---- Hip, hip hooray! Hip, hip hooray! Hip, hip hooray!

ENDA Set to Trump Religious Rights

House Committee Hears Arguments for Special Rights

Summary: Employment bill would 'impose a substantial and crippling burden on religious organizations.'

A U.S. House bill that purports to offer employment protection for gays and lesbians, as well as "transgender" individuals, would also trump the rights of religious employers. The Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) would bar employers from making decisions based on the "actual or perceived" sexual orientation or gender identity of employees or job applicants.

Stuart Ishimaru, acting chairman of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, testified before the House Education and Labor Committee today. "Job applicants and employees who are talented, fully qualified and hardworking are denied jobs, fired or otherwise discriminated against in the workplace," he said, "simply because they happen to be lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender."
Only one conservative voice was allowed on the panel: Craig Parshall, senior vice president and general counsel of National Religious Broadcasters. "ENDA, if passed into law would impose a substantial and crippling burden on religious organizations," he said. "In the cases I reviewed recently where there's a clash between homosexual rights -- sexual orientation being protected under discrimination laws on one hand and Christian religious liberties on the other -- Christian liberties lose and the homosexual rights win." Iran's AWACS destroyed

Iran's AWACS Destroyed in Parade Collision

Up above a big military parade in Tehran on Tuesday, Sept. 22, as Iranian president declared Iran's armed forces would "chop off the hands" of any power daring to attack his country, two air force jets collided in mid-air. One was Iran's only airborne warning and control system (AWACS) for coordinating long-distance aerial operations, DEBKA file's military and Iranian sources disclose.
The proud military parade, which included a march- past, a line of Shehab-3 missiles and an air force fly-past, was planned to give Ahmadinejad a dazzling send-off for New York and add steel to his UN Assembly speech Wednesday.

Dubbed "Simorgh" (a flying creature of Iranian fable which performs wonders in mid-flight), the AWACS' appearance, escorted by fighter jets, was to have been the climax for the Iranian Air force's fly-past over the parade. Instead, it collided with one of escorting planes, a US-made F-5E, and both crashed to the ground in flames. All seven crewmen were killed.

Eye witnesses reported that the flaming planes landed on the mausoleum burial site of the Islamic revolution's founder Ruhollah Khomeini, a national shrine. According to Western observers, no distress signals came from either cockpit indicating that the collision and explosions were sudden and fast.

DEBKA file's military sources say the disaster was a serious blow to the Iranian Air Force not long after its first and only AWACS went into service in April 2008. It was a renovated version of the Russian Ilyushin 76, part of Saddam Hussein's air force before it was transferred to Iran in 1991 during the first Gulf War.

Tehran hired Russian technicians to carry out renovations and install up-to-date radar. At the launching ceremony of the upgraded AWACS, Air Force commander Brig. Gen. Ahmad Miqani boasted its new radar systems were made in Iran and able to spot any airplane or missile at a distance of 1,000 kilometers from Iran's borders. The loss of this airborne control system has left Iran's air force and air and missile defenses without "electronic eyes" for surveillance of the skies around its borders. (DEBKAfile)

- Rejoice at news of this wonderful victory, which has clearly been wrought by the Hand of our God. Lift up the seven Iranian families who have lost loved ones in this accident; may they find comfort in the knowledge of our Savior. Thank the Lord for His faithfulness to protect His own. Praise God!

- "Let my persecutors be put to shame, but keep me from shame; let them be terrified, but keep me from terror. Bring on them the day of disaster; destroy them with double destruction." (Jer. 17:18)

The Daily Brief - Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009

"And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, "Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe." (Revelation 14: 15)

ATTENTION TO OUR READERS:

We are asking all of you to join us, beginning today, entering into a three-day period of prayer and fasting for the release of the captives of Islam.

It is anticipated that as many as 50,000 Moslems will join forces tomorrow on Capitol Hill, with the slogan, "It's Our Time."

We agree!! It IS "their time" to come to the saving knowledge of our Lord, and to enter into His harvest field.

Our time of fasting will take place one day before this event, during the day of the event, and one day after: Thursday, Friday and Saturday: September 24,25,26. Thank you.

"Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? " (Isaiah 58:6)

1. Democrats Push Obamacare Through Senate as GOP Protests Threats to Medicare - Newsmax

Sweeping healthcare legislation cleared its first hurdles in the Senate Finance Committee on Wednesday as Democrats turned back protests of Republicans who objected to a "slashing" of Medicare by $500 billion.

b) Democrats Deny GOP Bid to Put Health Bill Online -- Newsmax

Senate Finance Committee Democrats have rejected a GOP amendment that would have required a health overhaul bill to be available online for 72 hours before the committee votes.

Republicans argued that transparency is an Obama administration goal. They also noted that their constituents are demanding that they read bills before voting.

Democrats said it was a delay tactic that could have postponed a vote for weeks.

- Lord, let there be an absolute end to this steamroller approach to legislation! From preventing the full reading of bills to literally ramming things through Congress, these practices are an affront to all that America stands for. We ask for Your mercy, Lord, and the removal of those who have personal power and control over the American people as their goal.

- "All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirits." (Proverbs 16:2)

2. Mass. Governor Set to Name Kennedy Successor - Fox News

A day after Massachusetts lawmakers granted one of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy's final wishes by changing the state's succession law, an interim replacement for the late senator's crucial U.S. Senate seat is expected to be named Thursday.

Gov. Deval Patrick is to announce the appointment of Kennedy's successor at a news conference at the Statehouse, and former aide and longtime Kennedy friend Paul G. Kirk Jr. has the backing of the late senator's sons.

- Lord, we are saddened that the Mass. Legislature changed their law to accommodate the wishes of one family and one political party. We ask that You will touch Mr. Kirk's heart and reveal truth to him as he takes this seat for a short period of time. Lord, we ask that You will turn this situation to the good of the state of Mass. as well as the Congress.

- "but the Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you." (Deut 23: 5)

3. Colorado Airport Driver Indicted on Terrorism Charges in Suspected U.S. Bomb Plot - Fox News

A Colorado airport shuttle driver was indicted Thursday on federal charges of conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction in a possible Al Qaeda-linked bomb plot in the United States.

- Thank you, Lord, for yet another terrorist plot foiled. We praise You for this arrest and ask that You continue to lead our security forces to all terror cells and individuals who mean us harm. We also praise You for the watchmen who pray according to Your will over America!

- "I stand continually on the watchtower in the daytime; I have sat at my post every night." (Isaiah 21:8b)

4. Obama: U.S. Does Not Recognize 'Legitimacy of Continued Israeli Settlements' - Fox News

In declaring that it is time for Middle East peace "without preconditions," President Obama used his speech to the U.N. General Assembly Wednesday to fire a warning at Israel that "America does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements."

Obama's stark declaration, which drew applause, was coupled with a call for Palestinians to end their "incitement of Israel."

But it was the use of the U.N. forum to carry the settlement message to Israel that drew the most enthusiastic response on the floor -- and incredulous reaction outside its walls.

- Father, we do not understand how any U.S. President can so devalue Israel's right to exist, or be so unafraid of You, the Living God. We pray that the fear of God will come upon Mr. Obama. We remind You of Your Word, Lord, the Word that promises protection over the nation of Israel.

- "I will plant them in their land, and no longer shall they be pulled up from the land I have given them, says the Lord your God." (Amos 9:15)

5. U.N. Security Council Approves Resolution to Rid World of Nuclear Weapons - Fox News

Moving toward President Obama's goal for a nuclear weapon-free world, the U.N. Security Council on Thursday unanimously approved a resolution aimed at ridding the world of nuclear weapons.

The resolution calls for stepped up efforts to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons, promote disarmament and "reduce the risk of nuclear terrorism."

- Father, while all of us are in favor of non-nuclear proliferation, we pray that the truth of this "unified front" would be revealed to all Americans. Let no hidden contracts or covenants detrimental to the US be given power within the resolution.

- "Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You;" (Psalm 139:12a)

6. Ahmadinejad Criticism of U.S., Israel Prompts Walkout - Bloomberg

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad criticized the U.S. and Israel in a speech to the United Nations General Assembly late today, prompting a walkout of American diplomats.

- Lord, we thank you for the walkouts of American diplomats, as well as the boycott of these speeches by Canada. Lord, we ask that You continue to make known the fruits of despots like Ahmadinejad and Qaddafi, until they are removed from all power.

- "For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; indeed, you will look carefully for his place, but it shall be no more." (Psalm 37:10)

"You shall arise and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favor her, yes, the set time has come." (Psalm 102:13)

1. Netanyahu: Non-recognition of Israel obstacle to peace - Ynet News

The Palestinians' refusal to recognize Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state remains the biggest obstacle to peace, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on the heels of Tuesday's meeting in New York with US President Barack Obama and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

2. Obama: Progress in Israel-PA talks - Jerusalem Post

Despite criticism over the previous day's apparently stale tripartite meeting he held with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, US President Barack Obama remained defiant in his pursuit of Middle East peace on Wednesday and maintained that progress was made in Tuesday's talks.

3. Netanyahu: Israel won't agree to 1967 borders - Ha'aretz

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Haaretz on Wednesday that he would not agree to the Palestinian demand to accept the 1967 borders as a condition for renewing peace negotiations.

4. US papers call 3-way summit a failure - Ynet News

The three-way summit between US President Barack Obama, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has been perceived as an embarrassing event, not just in Israeli eyes. On the day after the meeting, media outlets in the United States are criticizing what is being referred to as "a little more than a photo opportunity."

5. At UN, Gadhafi offers solution to Mideast conflict - 'Isratine' - Ha'aretz

In a rambling speech before the United Nations General Assembly, Libyan ruler Muammar Gadhafi encouraged Israelis to continue settling the West Bank but to prepare for eventually becoming citizens of "Isratine," a combination of Israel and Palestine.

Schools Wrestle with Pledge Policy

In this new school year, teachers and administrators around the country are dealing once again with controversy surrounding the Pledge of Allegiance. The courts have consistently ruled that students have the right not to recite the pledge in public schools. But now some First Amendment advocates are taking it one step further, arguing that the law compels educators to inform kids at the beginning of school that the decision is entirely up to them. They're advocating a "Miranda warning" for the Pledge -- an administrative notice to students that they have the right to remain silent.

Despite its popularity, the ACLU and other critics of the Pledge are arguing that students, whether they do or don't support the oath, should be told up front that they are not required to recite the words. Perennial critic, Rev. Barry Lynn of Americans for Separation of Church and State, said: "The Pledge doesn't even state the truth. We are not one nation under God, "I don't think we should lie to students, and there's no way we can require them to say it." (Fox News)

- Dear Father. We ask You to steer this unending debate, and not back out of the Pledge of Allegiance discussion which revolves around the words that honor You: "One Nation Under God." We have been told that since You are a gentleman, You have been ignored in America and have left her to her own devices. We pray that You will once again indwell this nation with Your presence and restore her to a nation that honors You and defends Your chosen nation, Israel. Please forgive us of this injustice to You and heal our land. In Jesus' Name we pray for this to happen. Amen.

- "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God.' They are corrupt, they have done abominable works. There is none who does good." (Psalm 14:1 NKJV)

A "National Awakening"

We Are Witnessing a National Awakening!

By Gary Bergel, Intercessors for America

The September 12th T.E.A. Rally in Washington, DC was an incredible experience. When you live in Metro DC and participate in the many gatherings and rallies, it becomes standard practice to "discern" the flavor, atmosphere and character of the event. This convocation was different.

There was a clear distinction to the September 12 gathering of Americans who rallied, and then moved about in various throngs throughout the day. There was even something unique about how families and groups crossed the streets - these were not just your average Americans coming to their nation's capital. These were American patriots who reeked of Constitutional concerns. Their burden was not light. Some were righteously indignant. And some were angry in a carnal sense. But all who came were marked with a genuine and passionate concern about the loss of liberty and federal responsibility in the America they love.

This unique cross-section of citizens had not gathered here before. The growing T.E.A. (Taxed Enough Already) movement was sparked on December 16, 2007 when Libertarian presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul (TX) had events across the country which commemorated the Boston Tea Party. T.E.A. Parties have continued and this move continues to grow and grow, as evidenced in the outpouring for Town Hall meetings this summer across the USA.

I believe we are witnessing a genuine "National Awakening." It would not be correct to call this a "spiritual awakening," and it does not carry the content or earmarks of a religious revival. I believe we are seeing an authentic national awakening to Constitutional and foundational political principles.

Let us give thanks, and let's pray into this marvelous moment. It is surely an answer to prayer!

- Offer thanksgiving for the historic September 12 T.E.A. Rally in Washington. Pray that the Lord continue to stir the hearts of U.S. Citizens to pray, and to read, study and apply the Constitution and our founding principles.

- "The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16)

White House Characterizes Debate Over Socialism
As Longstanding American History

The man who occupies the Oval Office disputed leftist claims that opposition to his programs and policies are race motivated. He said that instead they are part of a historical debate over the proper role of government. He told reporters at CNN, "There's been a long-standing debate in this country that is usually that much more fierce during times of transition, or when presidents are trying to bring about big changes." Speaking to reporters at NBC News, he said, "It's an argument that's gone on for the history of this republic, and that is, What's the right role of government? How do we balance freedom with our need to look out for one another?"

He went on to tell reporters that people are passionate about whether the government can do anything right and that is where he believes the bulk of the vitriol originates. This is just another example of how he and his administration twist both history and intent of people to make it sound as if everything is reasonable and expected. It is not. First, he defuses the charges of race by going against what his most liberal supporters have been trying to tag the opposition with--the race card. Then he tries to say that there is a longstanding and historic debate in this country over the role of the government. That debate was settled in 1788 with the ratification of the US Constitution.

It is only those who are trying to overthrow the form of government in the United States who have made any debate whatsoever regarding the role of government. It is radical, unreasonable and an out and out lie to characterize the current passions against establishing socialism in this nation as a historic debate. The only historic debate regarding this type of insurrection against the Constitution are or were those chronicled as taking place in the clandestine meetings of communists and socialists and the back room strategy sessions of certain trade unions that were or are fronts for communism. The Founding Fathers were adamantly opposed to government intrusion into business and private lives.

The Constitution is very specific. The 10th Amendment also limits government in stating "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people." There is no debate. The Founding Fathers often confirmed Thomas Paine's quote, "That government is best which governs least." And Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." The words of deception abound in this Federal government because the usurpers--those who convinced the American people in order to get their votes that they were reasonable patriots--are using deception to overthrow the government and to annul the Constitution.

Netanyahu at his Best

Even those who aren't particularly sympathetic to Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu, could get a good measure of satisfaction from this interview with British Television during the retaliation against Hamas' shelling of Israel.

The interviewer asked him: "How come so many more Palestinians have been killed in this conflict than Israelis?" (A nasty question if there ever was one!)

Netanyahu: "Are you sure that you want to start asking in that direction?"

Interviewer: (Falling into the trap) Why not?

Netanyahu: "Because in World War II more Germans were killed than British and Americans combined, but there is no doubt in anyone's mind that the war was caused by Germany's aggression. And in response to the German blitz on London, the British wiped out the entire city of Dresden, burning to death more German civilians than the number of people killed in Hiroshima. Moreover, I could remind you that in 1944, when the R.A.F. tried to bomb the Gestapo Headquarters in Copenhagen, some of the bombs missed their target and fell on a Danish children's hospital, killing 83 little children. Perhaps you have another question?"

Apparently, Benjamin Netanyahu gave another interview and was asked about Israel's occupation of Arab lands. His response was, "It's our land". The reporter (CNN or the like) was stunned - read below "It's our land..." It's important information since we don't get fair and accurate reporting from the media and facts tend to get lost in the jumble of daily events. (The Golden Report)

TRUE PRAYER

By Rev. R. J. Rushdoony

The trouble with most prayer is that the person praying is not really talking with God but carrying on a recitation into the air. True prayer involves communion and conversation, and it is a continuous thing. We do not limit our conversation with our husband or wife to a set time, at meals or before going to sleep, and then keep silent all the rest of the day. We talk when we have something to say. The same is true with God. If we limit our prayers to set, formal times, we soon have little to say then.

Then how do we pray? Dozens of times in a day, we talk with God, usually only a sentence or two. Do we have a difficult and trying person to meet or deal with? Then we pray simply, "Lord give me patience and wisdom to meet this person in Thy Spirit and grace."

Is our task one we dislike? Then we ask, "Lord, I hate this job, but I must do it. Give me grace to do this thing in the right way and in a better frame of mind."

If we make a blunder, we say, "Lord I was pretty stupid that time. Help me grow up in my handling such problems." We share with Him, in a sentence or two, a hundred times in a day sometimes, our problems, our delights with things, our fears, our hopes, our everything.

And we must not forget gratitude. "Thanks for helping me through that one, Lord." Or we say, "There must be something for me to learn here, Lord, that I don't even know about, so please, Lord, teach me, so that I do better next time."

If God is real to us, He is "a very present help in trouble" and in time of need (Ps. 46:1). We therefore call upon Him continuously, to share with Him our needs, hopes, joys, griefs, and gratitudes. This is what St. Paul means when he writes, "Be careful (or anxious) for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Phil. 4:6-7)

There is no better way to live.

Thoughts On Prayer

"Prayer does not fit us for the greater work, prayer is the greater work."
