The Daily Brief

1. At least 9 dead, towns flattened as twisters rip through Okla., Ark.
- Fox News

ARKANSAS GOVERNOR Mike Beebe says that at least eight people have died after a tornado tore through the suburbs of Little Rock Sunday, while one other person was killed by a tornado in eastern Oklahoma. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we speak life into these storms, not death! We bind any spirits of death, destruction and fury arising out of these storms moving across the US. We ask You, Father, for Your mercy, comfort and strength to be poured into the people and families impacted by these storms. We pray all of this in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; the upright shall dwell in Your presence." (Psalm 140:13)

2. Ukraine PM says Russia provoking to start war - Hindustan Times

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said Saturday that Russian military aircraft had crossed the country's airspace seven times "to provoke Ukraine to start a war." "Russian military aircraft today overnight crossed and violated Ukrainian airspace seven times. The only reason is to provoke Ukraine to start a war," he told journalists at a briefing in Rome, following a meeting with Pope Francis and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we ask that You be in the midst of all that is happening in and over the Ukraine. We ask that all be exposed so solutions can be reached without a horrific war occurring. We ask this in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "A perverse man sows strife, and a whisperer separates the best of friends." (Proverbs 16:28)

3. Russia threatens to cut gas to Europe if Ukraine doesn't pay debt - EU Times

Russia says Ukraine's failure to pay its growing gas debt may impact gas delivery to European countries. Russia's Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on Saturday that Moscow may be forced to cut off natural gas supplies to Europe over Ukraine's mounting unpaid gas debt.

According to Novak, Ukraine currently owes Russia over USD 2.230 billion in unpaid gas bills and the debt is to rise, as the figure does not include 1.3 billion for deliveries made in April. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we come before You to ask for mercy for the people who need this gas to heat their homes, cook their meals and live their lives. We ask that Ukraine's government be led to work out a solution, led by You, of how to make payments towards this bill. We ask in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take." (Proverbs 3:6 NLT)

4. Abbas: Holocaust was the 'Most Heinous Crime' of the Modern Era - Israel National News

The mass murder of Jews in the Holocaust was "the most heinous crime" against humanity in the modern era, Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas said Sunday in his strongest remarks yet on the Nazi genocide.

The statement comes at a sensitive time for US-led peace efforts, with Israel having suspended faltering talks last week after Abbas reached an agreement with the genocidal Islamist Hamas movement to form a unity government.

His remarks, made in response to a question during talks last week with an American rabbi promoting Jewish-Muslim understanding, came as Israel and the Palestinians traded blame over the collapse of the peace talks. "On the incredibly sad commemoration of Holocaust Day, we call on the Israeli government to seize the current opportunity to conclude a just and comprehensive peace in the region, based on the two states vision, Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace and security," Abbas said. (Read more)

- Abba Father, this article reflects the mixed messages being delivered to the world by Mahmoud Abbas about Your covenant land, Israel. Abbas says the Holocaust was a heinous crime, yet at the same time he is working with Hamas and Fatah - two terrorist organizations that have vowed to wipe Israel off the map. Father, he then tries to imply that Israel is the problem in building an agreement for a two state solution, asking for the dividing of Israel and giving large portions of her land to the Palestinians. This was never part of Your covenant for the land in Your Word. Have mercy, Abba, and rise up to expose the hypocrisy here, in the Name of Jesus we pray, Amen and Amen.

- "An ungodly man digs up evil, and it is on his lips like a burning fire." (Proverbs 6:27)

5. Netanyahu tells Abbas to 'tear up' pact with Hamas - Reuters

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday to "tear up" his pact with Hamas, saying Israel would not take part in Middle East peace talks with a Palestinian government backed by the Islamist group. Netanyahu also said Abbas's comments earlier on Sunday denouncing the Holocaust could not be reconciled with his alliance with Hamas. "President Abbas has to decide whether he wants a pact with Hamas or peace with Israel. He cannot speak out of both sides of his mouth. He cannot embrace Hamas and say that he wants peace with Israel," Netanyahu said on the U.S. television program "Face the Nation," according to a transcript provided by the CBS network. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, once again we pray over this critical matter. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a cabinet meeting has pointed out the hypocrisy of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas speaking on the Holocaust being heinous, yet at the same time Abbas has been joining Fatah with Hamas so that terrorism will dominant his organization. Abbas continues to say it is Israel holding back any peace agreement. Father, we ask that You confront Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas with his lies and deceit, in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "Understanding is a wellspring of life to him who has it. But the correction of fools is folly." (Prov. 16: 22)

6. Danon: Abbas Becoming a Professor of Terrorism - Israel National News

Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon (Likud) denounced on Saturday night the speech by Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas before the Palestine Liberation Organization's (PLO) Central Council. Danon particularly took issue with Abbas's claim in the speech that a unity government with Hamas is not a terrorist government. "Abbas is on his way to becoming a professor of terrorism," said Danon, adding, "After denying the Holocaust in his doctoral thesis, he now claims that Hamas is not a terrorist organization." The PA Chairman, added Danon, "Seems to have forgotten that after the elections in Gaza, Hamas threw members of Fatah off the roofs of buildings. He forgot for that the Hamas's stated goal is to destroy Israel, he forgot that the entire world defines Hamas as a terrorist organization."

Abbas said in his speech Saturday that talks with Israel could only continue if Israel submits to a freeze on construction in eastern Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, releases jailed terrorists, and starts agreeing to borders for a Palestinian state. The PA chairman declared that the new unity government, which will be formed as part of a unity pact signed with Hamas last week, would not continue peace talks. Rather, he stated that it was the responsibility of the PLO to negotiate.

"I recognize Israel and reject violence and terrorism, and recognize international commitments," Abbas claimed, even while re-declaring that he and his government would never recognize Israel as the Jewish state. (Read more)

- Abba Father, this article reflects further the hypocrisy of what Abbas is presenting. Have mercy Abba Father, and shut all this hypocrisy down. Per Your Holy Word, we assert Your covenant for the land is with Israel and her people only, not a two state divided solution. In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen and Amen.

- "You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield."
(Psalm 115:11)

7. EU Calls to Resume Peace Talks Despite Hamas-PLO Unity Pact - Israel National News

Catherine Ashton says EU expects new government to be headed by Abbas, to recognize Israel's right to exist. The European Union on Sunday urged Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) to return to the negotiating table, saying US efforts to broker peace must not be allowed to "go to waste," according to AFP. "Any government formed would comply with our national agreements .
.. to recognize the State of Israel and renounce terror," Abbas said, at a meeting of the PLO Central Command in Ramallah.

Hamas officials responded by saying that recognizing Israel's own existence is on the negotiating table, but still subject to change in the context of talks with the PA to form a unity government. Hamas has vowed never to recognize Israel's existence on multiple occasions. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we ask You to keep Your warrior angels fully around Israel's borders and within it's divided sections, as men go about the nasty business of trying to part her land or to take her off the map. In Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city." (Proverbs 16:32)

8. Obama: US will persist with Middle East peace effort - BBC

The US will not abandon its peace efforts with Israel and the Palestinians, despite the breakdown of current talks, Barack Obama has said. President Obama lamented that "neither side had political will to make tough decisions" and that there may need to be a pause in the process. Mr Obama said Washington would continue to offer "constructive approaches". (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, forgive the US administration for their role in pressuring Your land Israel and her people to be involved in these dubious negotiations for 'peace'. We ask that You strike down all US involvement, in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "There are many plans in a man's heart, nevertheless the Lord's counsel-that will stand." (Proverbs 19: 21)

9. Iranian diplomat: Israel sole obstacle to nuclear weapons-free Mideast - Jerusalem Post

Iran's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations has blamed Israel as the sole obstacle for "a Middle East free of nuclear weapons." Iranian media reported on Saturday. Israel's alleged nuclear arsenal and its refusal to sign the international Nuclear non-Proliferation Treaty pose a barrier to ensuring nuclear weapons are not spread throughout the region. . . (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, this article shows how Iran is attempting to blame Israel about why the Middle East is not nuclear free, when Iran is the one who continually speaks of totally destroying Israel's right to exist and who does not allow full disclosure of their nuclear developments. 'Twisted truths' appear to be the order of the day in these articles. We pray Father, that You will be in the midst of all of the talks and discussions of this kind, exposing and shutting down all falsehoods. We pray in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "The violence of the wicked will destroy them, because they refuse to do justice." (Proverbs 21:7)

10. South Korean PM resigns over government response to ferry disaster - Reuters

South Korean Prime Minister Chung Hong-won announced his resignation on Sunday over the government response to the ferry disaster, in which it was first announced that everyone had been rescued, focusing attention on poor regulatory controls. The Sewol ferry sank on a routine trip south from the port of Incheon to the traditional holiday island of Jeju on April 16.

More than 300 people, most of them students and teachers on a field trip from the Danwon High School on the outskirts of Seoul, have died or are missing and presumed dead. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we lift up all these lives lost in this horrific ferry disaster and ask You for Your comfort, peace and strength for the families and loved ones left behind. May they turn to You if they do not know You, Lord. In Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You." (Psalm 9: 9-10)

Alert for Israel

Kerry Warns of Israeli 'Apartheid'

If there's no two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict soon, Israel risks becoming "an apartheid state," Secretary of State John Kerry told a room of influential world leaders in a closed-door meeting Friday. Related Stories How John Kerry can find success in the ashes of Middle East peace The Week (RSS) 'Pause' perhaps needed in Israeli-Palestinian talks: Obama Reuters Tit-for-tat gestures would replace Middle East talks Reuters US in 'holding period' in Mideast peace talks AFP Troubled Mideast peace effort compounds U.S. policy woes in region Reuters

Senior American officials have rarely, if ever, used the term "apartheid" in reference to Israel, and President Obama has previously rejected the idea that the word should apply to Jewish State. Kerry's use of the loaded term is already rankling Jewish leaders in America-and almost certain to Israeli leaders abroad.

It wasn't the only controversial comment on the Middle East that Kerry made during his remarks to the Trilateral Commission, a recording of which was obtained by The Daily Beast. Kerry also repeated his warning that a failure of Middle East peace talks could lead to a resumption of Palestinian violence against Israeli citizens. He suggested that a change in either the Israeli or Palestinian leadership could make achieving a peace deal more feasible. He lashed out against Israeli settlement-building. And Kerry said that both Israeli and Palestinian leaders share the blame for the current impasse in the talks.
Kerry also said that at some point, he might unveil his own peace deal and tell both sides to "take it or leave it."
"A two-state solution will be clearly underscored as the only real alternative. Because a unitary state winds up either being an apartheid state with second class citizens-or it ends up being a state that destroys the capacity of Israel to be a Jewish state," Kerry told the group of senior officials and experts from the U.S., Western Europe, Russia, and Japan. "Once you put that frame in your mind, that reality, which is the bottom line, you understand how imperative it is to get to the two state solution, which both leaders, even yesterday, said they remain deeply committed to."
According to the 1998 Rome Statute, the "crime of apartheid" is defined as "inhumane acts . . . committed in the context of an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by one racial group over any other racial group or groups and committed with the intention of maintaining that regime." The term is most often used in reference to the system of racial segregation and oppression that governed South Africa from 1948 until 1994.
Former president Jimmy Carter came under fire in 2007 for titling his book on Middle East peace Palestine: Peace or Apartheid. Carter has said publicly that his views on Israeli treatment of the Palestinians are a main cause of his poor relationship with President Obama and his lack of current communication with the White House. But Carter explained after publishing the book that he was referring to apartheid type policies in the West Bank, not Israel proper, and he was not accusing Israel of institutionalized racism.

"Apartheid is a word that is an accurate description of what has been going on in the West Bank, and it's based on the desire or avarice of a minority of Israelis for Palestinian land," Carter said.

Kerry on Friday repeated his warning that a dissolution of the peace process might lead to more Palestinian violence. "People grow so frustrated with their lot in life that they begin to take other choices and go to dark places they've been before, which forces confrontation," he said.

The secretary of state also implied, but did not say outright, that if the governments of Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu or Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas left power, there could be a change in the prospects for peace. If "there is a change of government or a change of heart," Kerry said, "something will happen." (Yahoo News) Read more here.

PRAYER:

Lord God, during this week of the Day of Repentance, WE REPENT that this administration is using these words regarding Israel's current status. We ask You to forgive our leaders, for they know not what they do. We lay axe to the root of any strategy to cause a "regime change" in Israel hinted upon at the end of this article, and we thank You that it is You, and You only, who takes down kings and raises up others. In Your Mighty Name, we offer this prayer, amen and amen.

VERSE TO DECREE:

"God has made the sins of evil men to boomerang upon them! He will destroy them by their own plans. Jehovah our God will cut them off." (Psalm 94:23; The Living Bible)

Muslim Woman Facing Death Calls Out to Jesus
and then the Miracle Happened. . .

"Four months ago I made my decision. I wanted to believe in Jesus. I wanted Him to be my Savior. Truly He has answered many of my prayers. Life is still difficult but I'm thankful. I have an inner peace. I am a new person. It seems God allowed me to be diverted to Greece so I could hear about the Christian faith and believe!"

I was crammed into a small boat with 65 other Afghanis. We were headed to Italy from Turkey accompanied by our smugglers. A storm approached with high winds and rain, which then descended on us mercilessly causing our boat to rock violently. The waves were intent on capsizing our vessel.

We hadn't eaten or drunk water for three days. Women and children were crying and getting sick. Many had come close to losing consciousness. I was separated from my children who were in another part of the boat and I couldn't get to them.

People began praying different surahs from the Quran and repeating the creed over and over. The shouts of "We're going to die! We're going to die!" were interspersed with the prayers of the refugees. I, too, said a few of those prayers in my utter desperation. I felt sure that we were going to drown. We were in a hold on the boat that had a few windows. The air was pungent with body odor, humidity and a sense of terror. If we opened the windows water poured in, but keeping them shut made it difficult to breathe.

Suddenly our boat took a sharp nosedive. Everything and everyone was sliding in one direction. This was it. We were going down! Just then flashes of conversations I had had with my Christian sister in Australia and my Christian brother in Germany, and scenes from a film about Jesus I had seen in Iran came to my mind.

I breathed out a prayer to Jesus. I had never prayed to Him before. I told Him that if He allowed me and my children to live I would go to a church as soon as we reached land. Immediately the boat righted itself in a miraculous way and the storm eased. People rejoiced that God had heard their prayers, but I knew Jesus had answered my prayer!

. . . Then 4 months ago I made my decision. I wanted to believe in Jesus. I wanted Him to be my Savior. Truly He has answered many of my prayers. Life is still difficult but I'm thankful. I have an inner peace. I am a new person. It seems God allowed me to be diverted to Greece so I could hear about the Christian faith and believe! (Please go here to read her whole testimony.)

Oregon County Commissioners Put Stop to Incineration of Fetal Remains
at Waste-to-Energy Facility

[Editor's note: this is GOOD NEWS as this barbaric practice will now be STOPPED in the State of Oregon.]

This week's news of the practice came to light a month after the remains of more than 15,000 aborted babies were found to have been incinerated, along with other "medical waste," to heat and generate power for British hospitals.

(Salem, OR)-The Marion County Board of Commissioners announced late Wednesday that they are putting a stop to a waste-to-energy facility's program that was incinerating aborted babies to produce electricity.
The Covanta Marion waste-to-energy facility in Oregon that has been incinerating British Columbia "medical waste," including aborted babies.

The B.C. Catholic's Steve Weatherbe revealed April 21 that the British Columbia government was sending fetal remains to the Covanta Marion waste-to-energy facility to be burned along with other medical waste. The story made national news after LifeSiteNews reported on the revelation Wednesday afternoon.

"We are outraged and disgusted that this material could be included in medical waste received at the facility," said Commissioner Janet Carlson in a Wednesday statement.

"We did not know this practice was occurring until today. We are taking immediate action and initiating discussions with Covanta Marion to make certain that this type of medical waste is not accepted in the future."

The board says it has called an emergency meeting for Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. to discuss the issue. (LifeSiteNews) Read more here.

Signs and Wonders

Signs and Wonders:

April 29: The Sun Will Be Darkened

"It will come about after this, that I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions. Even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

"I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth, blood, fire and columns of smoke. The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood Before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.

And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be delivered; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be those who escape, as the Lord has said, even among the survivors whom the Lord calls"
(Joel 2:28-32).

Sun turned into darkness, moon into blood. Most who read this will use one simple fact to invalidate the idea that these events described in Joel could pertain to today. Though the moon has indeed turned blood red, the sun has not been darkened.

However, the year's first solar eclipse will actually occur only two weeks after the blood moon, on April 29. In some parts of the world the eclipse will be seen as a "ring of fire," with the sun burning around the moon's perimeter.

(Source: Jon Hamill; Lamplighter Ministries)

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
(Luke 21:25-28)

Almost every day of the year, a member of Congress or a Senator is celebrating a birthday. Let's lift up these men and women, day by day in prayer on their special day, that God might bless them and show them His love for each one. Indeed, let's move together in obedience to the Lord's mandate in I Timothy 2:1-4. It is written:

"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth."
