The Daily Brief - Thursday, May 31, 2012

"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you." (James 4:8a)

The Daily Brief

1. Rockefellers and Rothschilds unite - NewsCore/CNBC

The Rothschilds and the Rockefellers, two of the world's greatest family dynasties, are pooling their vast resources.

The Financial Times (FT) reported yesterday that Lord Jacob Rothschild's listed investment trust, RIT Capital Partners, agreed to take a 37 per cent stake in Rockefeller Financial Services for an undisclosed amount.

The financial marriage of convenience is designed to give Rothschild a valuable foothold in the US, according to the newspaper.

- Lord, as we see this partnership take place, we ask for Your wisdom. As more and more foreign interests take foothold in the United States, we pray that the outcome will be blessing to the American people.

- "The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it." [Proverbs 10:22]

2. Spain faces 'total emergency' as fear grips markets - UK Telegraph

Spain is facing the gravest danger since the end of the Franco dictatorship as the country is frozen out of global capital markets and slides towards an epic showdown with Europe.

- Father, we bind fear in the Name of Jesus Christ, and apply the cross of Christ against it. We ask that You turn this situation into Your Glory, and use it to bring the hearts of the European people back to You.

- "Turn at My reproof; surely I will pour out My Spirit on you; I will make My words known to you." [Proverbs 1:23]

3. 'Sons of Stuxnet' threaten energy infrastructure - Jerusalem Post

Global energy infrastructure is more vulnerable than ever in an escalating cyber war thanks to "sons of Stuxnet" electronic missiles, which can be created from the virus designed to sabotage Iran's nuclear program.

- Lord, we erect a hedge of protection around the energy infrastructures of the nations, and ask that You stand guard over them. We thank You for the protection of the Holy Spirit, and Your heavenly host, in all areas where these "missiles" might be deployed.

- "No weapon formed against you shall prosper." [Isaiah 54:17]

4. Court: Heart of Gay Marriage Law Unconstitutional - AP

An appeals court ruled Thursday that the heart of a law that denies a host of federal benefits to gay married couples is unconstitutional.

The 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston said the Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman, discriminates against married same-sex couples by denying them federal benefits.

- Father, we thank You that no matter what the courts or man may say, Your Word stands throughout time. We ask that the portions of this law which guard righteous relationships will stand strong.

-"So shall My Word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." [Isaiah 55:11]

5. Images Appear to Show Iran Nuclear Test Site Cleanup - The Wall Street Journal

New satellite photographs published by a Washington think tank appear to show intensified efforts by Iran over the past week to cleanse a military site south of Tehran suspected of being used for nuclear-weapons research.

The Iranian actions could affect a tentative deal reached last week between Tehran and the United Nations' nuclear watchdog that was aimed at granting inspectors expansive access to facilities, scientists and documents allegedly related to nuclear-weapons work.

Read more:

- Lord, we ask that You grant truth and wisdom to the IAEA, and to the leaders of the free world. We pray that Iran will no longer be allowed to deceive and manipulate world actions regarding their nuclear program.

- "But the wicked will fall by his own wickedness" [Proverbs 11:5b]

6. a) Six Killed in Seattle Shootings, including Suspect
- MSNBC

A gunman identified as Ian Stawicki, 40, opened fire in a Seattle, Wash., café and a downtown parking lot, killing five, critically wounding one, and eventually taking his own life.

b) Truck Runs into Students at High School, 9 Hospitalized - MSNBC

A high school student in a pickup truck ran into a group of teenagers who were crossing a street outside a California high school Wednesday, leaving nine people injured and backpacks and clothing strewn across an intersection, officials said.

c) Pennsylvania father abandons 16-year-old daughter over bad math grade - Fox News

A Pennsylvania father pleaded guilty to child endangerment for abandoning his teenage daughter at a mall over a bad grade she received at school.

Tuan Huynh, 47, of Montgomery County, dropped his 16-year-old daughter off near Cheltenham Square Mall and told her she could not come home, Fox affiliate WTXF-TV reported. He told the teenager she no longer met her parents' expectations because she had received a bad grade on a calculus test, according to the station. Assistant District Attorney Cara McMenamin told the station that the girl wandered around the Cheltenham Mall for hours before a minister finally approached her and called for help.

- Father, as the headlines reveal a loss of love on every side, we ask that You grant our nation mercy, and allow Your Spirit to touch these lives with repentance and conversion. We pray deeply for the hearts of America to come to You and be transformed.

"And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold." [Matthew 24:12]

7. MoveOn warns 'We might have to pull the plug' - Washington Examiner

MoveOn, a giant in the progressive political world and an early endorser of Barack Obama in 2008, warns that it might have to "pull the plug" on key campaigns to help Obama and Senate Democrats if its 7 million members don't pony up with at least $5.

- Father, as the final court press takes center stage in this election cycle, we bind up manipulative and deceptive practices which are designed to fleece the American people.

- "Let him who stole steal no longer"
[Ephesians 4:28a]

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

1. Iran: Military intervention in Syria will 'engulf' Israel - Ynet News

Any crisis caused by military intervention in Syria would "envelop the Zionist regime," Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said Wednesday.

2. Dagan: Strike on Iran could hasten bomb - Ynet News

Former Mossad Chief Meir Dagan said Wednesday that a strike on Iran could hasten the Islamic Republic's development of an atom bomb.

3. Netanyahu: World powers too soft on Iran's nuclear program
- Israel Hayom

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday charged that world powers were being too soft over Iran's nuclear program, in his first public comments on the recent round of international talks with the Iranians.

4. Ehud Barak: If negotiations fail, Israel must consider unilateral withdrawal from West Bank - Ha'aretz

Defense Minister Ehud Barak said on Wednesday that Israel should consider unilateral moves if negations with the Palestinians fail to bear fruit.

TAXPAYERS ARE PAYING FOR ABORTIONS

Congressmen Bill Huizenga and Dan Boren introduced H.R. 5646, the Homeland Security Respect for Life Act, which closes loopholes that allow taxpayer funds to be used for abortions for illegal immigrants in detention by the Department of Homeland Security. The bill mirrors language that is currently included in the annual Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations bill which prohibits taxpayer funding of abortions for federal detainees, but not those under DHS jurisdiction.

On Thursday, May 17, Members of Congress at a hearing in the U.S. House were told about how the nation's capital allows abortions all the way until birth. They were informed that one abortion facility in the District of Columbia openly advertises abortions at seven months into pregnancy, paid for via cash or credit card.

No more than five nations in the world have a legal policy that is this extreme, three doctors told members of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on the Constitution. They supported the District of Columbia Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R. 3803), that would protect unborn children in the District after they have reached 20 weeks fetal age. (Intercessors for America)

- Ask the Lord to bring changes to the policies in our nation that would allow abortions at any point within the pregnancy! Ask the Lord for His help for those who have the power to change these abominations. Ask for forgiveness for using federal dollars for abortion.

- "And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech." (2 Kings 23:10)

Adios Mexico City Policy?

Weeks like this one should make us grateful for the times when the Senate does nothing! The more work Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) does, the less secure our values seem to be. One week ago, during a rare moment of Senate activity, leaders tried to turn an appropriations bill into a permanent repeal of pro-life law. Under Sen. Frank Lautenberg's language, the U.S. would agree to send millions of dollars to international groups whether they provide abortions or not. For years, Presidents have batted the issue back and forth, starting with Ronald Reagan--who first issued the Mexico City Policy to turn off the funding spigots to overseas organizations who promote abortion as "family planning." He understood that the best way to reduce abortions is by cutting off the money to abortion organizations.

Unfortunately, President Clinton disagreed. When he took office, he overturned the policy--which kicked off a pattern of repealing and reinstating that's been repeated by Democratic and Republican Presidents right up to Barack Obama. Since the Mexico City Policy isn't law, its fate has always been determined by the Oval Office. Sen. Lautenberg's amendment would change all that. His measure would make it impossible for a pro-life President to trump the law with an executive order. As far as the Left is concerned, this amendment would guarantee that " this backwards policy never returns and protects access to family planning services for some of the world's poorest women."

Before heading out of town for Memorial Day, he managed to persuade enough members of the Appropriations Committee to pass his amendment 18-12. On the bright side, Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson (Nebr.) sided with the GOP. It's just too bad that a trio of squishy Republicans, including Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), couldn't find the backbone to join him.

If there is a silver lining, it's that the lower chamber voted down a similar amendment 23-27 last week. If Sen. Lindsey Graham's comments are any indication, the two sides are setting up a major collision on the overall legislation if this issue isn't resolved. "The House will not accept this," he said. "It will take the bill off into a ditch." From what we know about the Senate's version, that's exactly where it belongs! (Family Research Council)

Update: LOST Treaty

"Long Time, No Sea"

Rule number one of federal lawmaking: When a Senator says his colleagues would be "more comfortable" voting on a bill after an election, it spells trouble. And in the case of Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), that trouble is spelled LOST, or Law of the Sea Treaty. It's been 30 years since President Reagan first sank the idea of a maritime bureaucracy, but that hasn't stopped big government advocates from dredging up the policy every few years and selling it to Congress as buried treasure. Yesterday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Sen. Kerry, and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta took turns pitching the 1982 treaty in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee as a way to "bring order" to the world's oceans. The way they see it, LOST would help define the boundaries in international waters and create a "more peaceful" sea environment.

It sounds innocent enough, but behind those benign talking points is a dangerous agenda that would undermine U.S. security--and siphon away millions of dollars in the process. Lost in LOST's hearing were the facts. For one, proponents neglected to mention that the treaty would force America to release its hold on miles and miles of natural resources. Instead of profiting from the discoveries of oil or gas, U.S. companies would have to transfer those royalties to an international bureaucracy in charge of "redistributing" that wealth (sound familiar?) to needy nations. According to the U.S. Continental Shelf Task Force, those resources "may be worth billions, if not trillions, of dollars."

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), one of two dozen Republicans that oppose LOST, was emphatic about the threat. "[This] would be the first time in history that an international organization would possess a taxing authority, and it would amount to billions of American dollars being transferred out of the U.S. Treasury," he wrote. What's more, this "International Seabed Authority," or ISA, would have the power to haul the U.S. before global tribunals for perceived violations, order countries to share cutting-edge technologies, and bar the Navy from using global waterways for defense or military purposes. And if member nations decide to change the treaty? "There is no guarantee that the treaty will remain in the form that it is at the time of ratification. Under its terms, its content can later be changed by an amendment process that does not require the approval of the U.S. government."

Of course, most people recognized the bill was bad when Sen. Kerry announced during yesterday's hearing that he "would like to see this treaty stay out of the hurly-burly of presidential politics." Translation? I plan on pushing this bill after November 6 so that Senators can't be held accountable for passing such a controversial bill. Obviously, Sen Kerry and friends are hoping to follow the pattern of last year's START treaty, which is to wait until the lame-duck session to force unpopular and potentially unconstitutional policies on the American people. (Family Research Council)

- Because this is a treaty, only the Senate -- not the House -- will have the authority to defeat it. Come against the statement by Senator Kerry in prayer, and ask our Lord to move upon the hearts of Senate leadership to call for a vote on LOST before the election. Next, PRAY IT DOWN! In His Name, amen!

- "You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you; And light will shine on your ways."
(Job 22:28)

Maryland Marriage Referendum

Maryland Governor O'Malley made passage of a bill to legalize same-sex marriage his first priority this past January. With promises and arm-twisting, he persuaded members of both houses of the Maryland Assembly to pass the measure narrowly.

Yesterday, Pastor Derek McCoy, President of the Maryland Family Alliance and Director of the Maryland Marriage Alliance, delivered more than 122,000 petitions to the Secretary of State's office - more than double the signatures needed (55,736) to put a same-sex "marriage" repeal question on the November ballot. The Alliance's goal is to turn in 150,000 signatures by the June 30th deadline.

Pro-SSM activists have big money and backing from the state's political machine. Moreover, Maryland's Attorney General Doug Gansler, has vowed to overturn the ballot should the people vote to overturn the new law in November. Gansler plans legal action before hand-picked judges appointed by O'Malley.

- Praise God for His favor at this stage of the fight. May He now provide the necessary finances to get out the message for marriage and to counter the campaign planned by homosexual activists. May Marylanders stand for marriage!

- "But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place." (2 Cor. 2:14)

Iran Targets American Diplomats; Others

U.S. officials among the targets of Iran-linked assassination plots

In November, the tide of daily cable traffic to the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan brought a chilling message for Ambassador Matthew Bryza, then the top U.S. diplomat to the small Central Asian country. A plot to kill Americans had been uncovered, the message read, and embassy officials were on the target list. The details, scant at first, became clearer as intelligence agencies from both countries stepped up their probe. The plot had two strands, U.S. officials learned, one involving snipers with silencer-equipped rifles and the other a car bomb, apparently intended to kill embassy employees or members of their families. Both strands could be traced back to the same place, the officials were told: Azerbaijan's southern neighbor, Iran.

The threat, many details of which were never made public, appeared to recede after Azerbaijani authorities rounded up nearly two dozen people in waves of arrests early this year. Precisely who ordered the hits, and why, was never conclusively determined. But U.S. and Middle Eastern officials now see the attempts as part of a broader campaign by Iran-linked operatives to kill foreign diplomats in at least seven countries over a span of 13 months. The targets have included two Saudi officials, a half-dozen Israelis and - in the Azerbaijan case - several Americans, the officials say. In recent weeks, investigators working in four countries have amassed new evidence tying the disparate assassination attempts to one another and linking all of them to either Iran-backed Hezbollah militants or operatives based inside Iran, according to U.S. and Middle Eastern security officials. (Washington Post) Read more.
[Reported by The Investigative Project on Terrorism]

- Offer praise that these plots, hatched by Iran, have been exposed and the perpetrators found. Continue to pray for "all in authority" on the diplomatic outposts worldwide. May they faithfully represent our nation; and may each one come to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. In His Name, amen.

- ". . . (the Lord) desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."
(I Timothy 2:4)

 Update: Laser Attacks on Pilots

Laser attacks on pilots are on the rise, records show

Laser pointer aimed at planes headed for Lambert - St. Louis
International Airport

OTTAWA - Pilots flying in Canadian skies are getting hit with blinding lasers more than ever, sparking calls for a crackdown on a problem that experts say threatens passenger safety. Nationwide, reports of aircraft getting hit with lasers was up dramatically in 2011 to 229, up from 183 in 2010 - a 25 per cent jump. And the trend shows little sign of abating. A Transport Canada database records more than 100 reports of laser incidents so far this year. "This is a nationwide flight safety concern," said Capt. Barry Wiszniowski, chairman of the flight safety division for the Air Canada Pilots Association. Many of those are happening in the skies over Toronto as planes flying into Pearson and other area airports are getting hit with alarmingly frequency - 36 times so far this year. . . But in the United States - where there were a record 3,592 incidents in 2011 - federal officials have launched a crackdown on offenders who deliberately aim lasers at aircraft. Laser pointer aimed at planes headed for Lambert - St. Louis International Airport
St. Louis (KSDK) - The Joint Terrorism Task Force is searching for the people who pointed lasers at aircraft flying above St. Louis. Authorities say it happened at least three times over the Memorial Day weekend. The lasers may be a small pinpoint of light when pointed on the ground, but once they hit the glass of a cockpit they can become an explosion of light and temporarily blind the pilot. The FAA says the most recent incident was Monday and involved a Delta Airlines flight headed for Lambert. The plane was about 12 miles out and around 5,000 feet in the air when the cockpit was hit by green laser. (Read more.)

The Good News Corner

Native American Leader, Dr. Negiel Bigpond,
Joins the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem
October 7, 2012

Dr. Negiel Bigpond, Apostolic Covering for many First Nations Churches in Canada and the United States, officially endorses the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem, founded by Dr. Jack Hayford and Dr. Robert Stearns of Eagles' Wings.

Dr. Bigpond remarked: "Israel and Native Americans are both tribal people who understand and know how to keep covenant. We are followers of The Word of GOD and understand the covenant God has with His chosen people, Israel, and we are now partakers of the same Blessing. When we pray and Bless Israel, we Bless God. To us, the international Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem is an opportunity to honor God as we pray for and honor His chosen people."

Dr. Bigpond has been in ministry more than thirty years, evangelizing in over 143 native reservations and currently serving as Apostle of Morning Star Church of All Nations.
First Nations people generally sense a deep kinship with Israel. A portion of the resolution called "A Declaration by the First Nations of America" states:

- As with Israel, the First Nations are called to be a blessing.

- As with Israel, the First nations have been persecuted.

- As with Israel, the First Nations are called to be strong in the face of adversity.

- As with Israel, the First nations were once exiled and now returned home.
Dr. Bigpond not only joins 1300 other Christian Endorsers who represent all different cultures, and denominations - like Paul Cedar, Ron Luce, Kay Arthur, Jane Hansen, T. D. Jakes, & Ravi Zacharias - but he joins with another endorsing First Nations leader, Dr. Richard Twiss

-Founder & Director of Wiconi International. Their united call is for all believers to fulfill The Lord's mandate in Psalm 122:6, to pray for God's peace, blessing, and love to Jews, Arabs and Christians alike in God's Holy City - Jerusalem.

The annual Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem - the first Sunday of every October - is one of the largest Israel-focused prayer events in history, with churches participating last year from over 175 nations, including those "underground" in seven Muslim nations. An offering is also collected to help all in need - both Jew and Arab. Churches can download FREE Resources and register to participate on October 7th at www.daytopray.com

The Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem

The Bible clearly calls all believers to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6, Isaiah 62:6). Over 1,200 of the most respected global Christian leaders are calling for the Church to pray for Jerusalem the first Sunday of every October. All Christians have a biblical mandate and responsibility to pray for the city over which Jesus wept, the city to which He will soon return. The current crisis over Jerusalem has global ramifications and impact, and will only be fully resolved by God working through the prayers of His people.

The Daily Brief - Wednesday, May 30, 2012

"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you." (James 4:8a)

 The Daily Brief

1. Iran Under Mysterious 'Flame' Cyber Attack - Reuters

Security experts have discovered a highly sophisticated computer virus in Iran and other Middle East countries that they believe was deployed at least five years ago to engage in state-sponsored cyber espionage.

Flame appears poised to go down in history as the third major cyber weapon uncovered after Stuxnet and its data-stealing cousin Duqu, named after the Star Wars villain. Flame can gather data files, remotely change settings on computers, turn on PC microphones to record conversations, take screen shots and log instant messaging chats.

Some experts speculated that the discovery of the virus may have dealt a psychological blow to its victims, on top of whatever damage Flame may have already inflicted to their computers.
- Praise the Lord for this infiltration! Praise the Lord for this remote "intelligence gathering" against nations who have long stated their fierce animosity towards, and destructive plans for, the U.S. and Israel. Praise the Lord for effective cyber weapons that spare the lives of American and Israeli military and civilians. May the effects of Flame stand as a long term effective barrier against enemy plans, in Jesus Name!

- "They will receive the wages of their pride, for they have scoffed at the people of the Lord of Heaven's Armies. The Lord will terrify them as he destroys all the gods in the land. Then nations around the world will worship the Lord, each in their own land."
(Zephaniah 2:10,11)

2. Romney clinches Republican 2012 nomination - Jerusalem Post

Mitt Romney clinched the Republican presidential nomination on Tuesday with a resounding victory in Texas and now faces a five-month sprint to convince voters to trust him over Democratic President Barack Obama in the November 6 election.

- Heavenly Father, once again we stand in the gap for this country we love, thanking You for the mantle of supplication You have laid upon Your people which stirs us to intercede for America and the coming elections. Our hope is in You Lord! As the election process proceeds, we ask You to overrule the plans of those seeking only their own exaltation, and those whose ideologies work to destroy our 'one nation under God.' We ask You to guide these elections in every detail, exposing fraud, while strengthening and promoting godliness in leadership. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

- " They shall be Mine," says the Lord of hosts, "On the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him. Then you shall again discern between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him." (Malachi 3:17, 18)

3. Holder to brief black pastors on campaign 2012 - Washington Examiner

Attorney General Eric Holder, the IRS, and the liberal lawyers at the ACLU will brief several hundred pastors in the African American community on how to participate in the presidential election -- which the Congressional Black Caucus chair expects will help President Obama's campaign.

The CBC chairman is confident that "President Obama is going to get 95 percent of the [African American] vote," and wants to keep that turnout high. "We want to let them know that there is a theological responsibility to participate in the political process, at least in the Judeo-Christian tradition," he said.

- Dear heavenly Father, we pray that those who call you Lord will be moved by Your Holy Spirit to vote for the candidate who best represents the values put forth in Your Word. We ask that the issue of the shade of a person's skin will cease to be an issue of interest, especially among Christians, for You have created us all as human beings, in Your image. We pray that the candidates' records and positions on abortion will be a prime Christian issue in this election - that Your people will not bloody their own souls by voting for candidates that openly promote abortion, but will vote for those who uphold the value of Life created by You. We pray that these pastors not be swayed by ungodly counsel (Psalm1). In Jesus' Name.

- "Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us?"
(Malachi 2:10) "When you lift up your hands in prayer, I will not look. Though you offer many prayers, I will not listen, for your hands are covered with the blood of innocent victims." (Isaiah 1:15)

4. It's no secret: There are more government secrets than ever - Washington Times

The number of official government secrets rose to its highest level last year, auditors reported Tuesday, even though President Obama promised that his administration would be the most open and transparent in history. U.S. officials created more than 92 million classified documents in fiscal 2011, up from 76.5 million the year before, the Information Security Oversight Office said in its annual report.

- Dear Lord, "transparency" involving 92 Million hidden documents in the course of just one year seems like a grievous aberration. Send Your light into dark dealings which strive to hide information that should be made known. Bring us leadership that operates wisely, in transparent honesty before God and man - in Jesus' Name.

- "Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops."
(Luke 12:3)

5. Escape From New York? High-Taxing Empire State Loses 3.4 Million Residents in 10 Years - CNS News

New York State accounted for the biggest migration exodus of any state in the nation between 2000 and 2010, with 3.4 million residents leaving over that period, according to the Tax Foundation.

- Lord the tax burdens placed upon our citizens have become increasingly onerous. We ask You to raise up men and women in leadership who will cease spending money the government doesn't have, and who will institute fair taxation systems. Open the eyes of our citizens to discern which politicians truly have the people's best interests at heart. In Jesus' Name.

- "I will be a swift witness against ... those who exploit wage earners . . . because they do not fear Me, says the Lord of hosts." (Malachi 3: 5; selected portions)

6. House debates bill to ban sex-selective abortions - Fox News

House members launched into a contentious debate Wednesday over a bill that would ban abortions performed on the basis of gender-selection. Though sex-selective abortions are typically thought of as a problem in countries like China, bill author Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., said Democrats and Republicans in the House agree that sex-selection abortions are occurring in the United States.

Under his proposal, physicians who perform sex-selective abortions would face heavy fines and up to five years in jail. The House, after closing out debate late Wednesday afternoon, is expected to vote on the proposal Thursday. It needs a two-thirds majority to pass. Read more.

- We offer praise to the Lord for the bold leadership shown by Congressman Trent Franks in introducing this bill to support life. We ask for the two-thirds majority that will be needed to pass H.R. 3541 when it comes to the House floor for a vote tomorrow. Father God, move upon Your people to stand for LIFE in the Halls of Congress and throughout this great nation. We pray in Jesus' name, amen.

- "Male and female He created them." (Gen. 1:27)

"Thou shalt not kill." (Exodus 20:13)

7. Stocks Retreat in Broad, Euro-Fueled Selloff - Fox News

Wall Street pulled back sharply on Wednesday in stark contrast to the big gains seen in the prior session as traders were once again forced to grapple with the specter of the eurozone's debt debacle bleeding into core nations. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 161 points . . . Read more.

- The global markets are daily becoming more and more fragile as men seek to rescue the failed economies of Greece and Spain. Without repentance and turning back to God, judgment will soon follow . . . in Europe and in America. Call forth a spirit of genuine humility on the part of the world's leaders in the economic community and elsewhere. Perhaps the Lord will yet show us His mercy, and reveal the way to bring stability back to these financial structures. He does provide.

- "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." (Jer. 33:3)

8. Will Bilderberg meeting be 'occupied'? - WND

Some say it's just an event for the rich and powerful to let their hair down, hear from top policy wonks and schmooze with each other. Others claim it's the place where big decisions are made in secret - decisions with world-shaking consequences. What ever it truly is, the meeting is taking place this week here in the quiet suburbs near Dulles International Airport at the Westfields Marriott Convention Center - the same place it was held four years ago when rumors circulated it was determined there that Barack Obama would be the Democratic presidential nominee, not Hillary Clinton.

- Offer praise that, by coincidence, scores of intercessors over the years have also "occupied" this site, for His glory! Pray that the Blood of the Lamb, shed for all of our sins, would secure this site for His Kingdom purposes once again, and that hearts and lives would be transformed as a result. Pray for a miracle of salvation for each of the Bilderbergs present. Pray!

- "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)

1. As US, Israeli positions diverge, Iran nuke work progresses
- Israel Hayom

There are gaps between the positions of the Israeli prime minister and the White House on negotiations with Iran, sources in Jerusalem said on Sunday.

2. Israel breaks silence on Iranian nuclear talks - Ynet News

International nuclear talks with Iran have achieved nothing, a senior Israeli official said on Tuesday, suggesting that some Western nations were happy to see the negotiations drag on.

3. Ehud Barak: If negotiations fail, Israel must consider unilateral withdrawal from West Bank - Haaretz

"We are a coalition of 94 MKs, this is the time to lead a diplomatic process," Barak said Wednesday morning in a speech at Tel Aviv University's Institute for National Security Studies. "But if it isn't possible to reach a permanent agreement with the Palestinians, we must consider an interim arrangement or even a unilateral move." "We are on borrowed time. We will reach a wall, and we'll pay the price. People who are now in a coma will then ask how we didn't see [this coming]," he added.

Obama Awards Medal of Freedom

Lessons From The Medal Of Freedom Awards

Obama awarded the Medal of Freedom to more than a dozen recipients yesterday. It is the highest honor the president can award to a civilian for their service to the United States. But the ceremony also provided two important lessons about this administration.

First, in spite of the tingling in Chris Matthews' leg, this is not the smartest White House in history. The media rejoiced when Obama was elected because he would not embarrass us like that "cowboy" Bush. But Obama seriously offended our ally Poland yesterday when he referred to "Polish death camps" while honoring Jan Karski, who exposed the Nazi concentration camps in Poland. It may seem like a minor slip of the tongue, but Polish officials are furious, and blasting the White House for its "ignorance and incompetence."

Obama's decision to award the Medal of Freedom to Dolores Huerta highlights his ideological extremism. While Obama praised Huerta for her work organizing farm workers, he neglected to mention that she is an admirer of Hugo Chavez and an honorary chair of the Democratic Socialists of America. Huerta also made headlines for saying "Republicans hate Latinos." (Gary Bauer)

Land Under Fire

Dr. Richard Land is a fixture in Washington, D.C. He has been representing the public policy interests of Southern Baptists as president of Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission since 1988. Dr. Land is a good friend and has been a stalwart ally in the fight for family, faith and freedom.

In addition to his Washington work, he also hosts a weekly radio show. Recently, Dr. Land commented on the Trayvon Martin case and expressed his outrage at the race baiting antics of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Sensing an opportunity to take down one of the pro-family movement's most influential leaders, the left pounced and accused Land of racism. In addition, charges of plagiarism were made against him.

I've known Richard for years and have always respected him as a man of the utmost character and integrity. It is inconceivable that these charges are true. But they remind me of the attacks on Rush Limbaugh and other conservative leaders, including me. The left never misses an opportunity to try to silence conservative voices, and it goes for the jugular every time. (Gary Bauer)

THE RUN-OFF IN EGYPT

Two weeks ago we wrote of how Muslim Brotherhood Egyptian presidential candidate Dr. Mohamed Mursi, while attending a rally in Cairo, nodded approval as a Moslem cleric called for him to establish an "Islamic Caliphate", a "Capital of the United States of the Arabs," to be located "not in Cairo, Mecca or Medina" but in Jerusalem. We wrote further, "Mursi, as of this writing, is not a front-runner in the polls [in fact, with less than 10% of the vote]; however, given the immense power and influence wielded by the Brotherhood in Egypt, his status could quickly change." Such has in fact proven to be the case-Mursi soared in last week's election to actually receive more votes than any other candidate. He will face Ahmed Shafiq, a former prime minister under Hosni Mubarak, in a runoff in June. A new leader is supposed to be inaugurated by July 3rd.

Since the fall of Mubarak, the Muslim Brotherhood has gone to great lengths to try and soften its image as a hard-line Islamist group (Gaza's ruling Hamas faction is in fact a branch of the Brotherhood). This continued Tuesday, with its candidate Mursi reaching out to Egypt's Coptic Christians, "Our Christian brothers, let's be clear, are national partners and have full rights like Muslims." He also vowed to respect women's rights to "work in all areas, and to choose the way they dress", promising that there would be "no imposition on women to wear the veil [Islamic covering for women]." This is in marked contrast to his associated Hamas operatives in Bethlehem who have boasted that before it's over there, they will have forced all Christian women there to "wear the veil."

PLEASE PRAY:

- God's mercies over Egypt in the up-coming run-off-that radical Islam and those who would seek to bring a religious Islamic system into rule over Egypt and who would come against God's covenant people and land will not be allowed to gain rulership.

- That the treaty between Egypt and Israel will not be severed.

- For the Christian Body in Egypt.unity in the Holy Spirit, courage and direction, anointed ascending in Praise so as to come into God's strategy and array for the warfare ahead.

- That God's Kingdom come for Egypt.that groundwork in the Body of Messiah continues to be brought into place for the future "Highway" linking Egypt, Israel and Assyria mentioned in Isaiah 19. [Source: Prayer Update From Israel (May 30, 2011) Martin and Norma Sarvis; Jerusalem]

THE CAPITAL OF ISRAEL

"Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it" (Isaiah 2:2).

"The sons of those who afflicted you will come bowing to you, and all those who despised you will bow themselves at the soles of your feet; And they will call you the city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel"
(Isaiah 60:14).

Recently a British newspaper The Guardian issued a "correction" to a caption it had printed beneath a picture of Israeli's observing Holocaust Remembrance Day: "The caption on a photograph featuring passengers on a tram in Jerusalem observing a two-minute silence for Yom HaShoah, a day of remembrance for the 6 million Jews who died in the Holocaust, wrongly referred to the city as the Israeli capital. The Guardian style guide states: 'Jerusalem is not the capital of Israel; Tel Aviv is' ". After an official complaint was submitted to the United Kingdom Press Complaints Commission, to the effect that Israel has identified its capital as Jerusalem, the Commission responded, "While it is correct to say that Israel classes Jerusalem as her capital city, this is not recognized by many countries and those nations enjoying diplomatic relations with Israel have their embassies in Tel Aviv. As such, the Commission was of the view that the newspaper was entitled to refer to Tel Aviv as the capital of Israel. There was no breach of the Code in this instance."

After Israel in the 1967 War took the portions of Jerusalem occupied by the Kingdom of Jordan, subsequently annexing them to the city, nations, under pressure from oil-rich Arab countries began quickly to remove their embassies to Tel Aviv. There are presently no embassies in the capital city. Although by an act of Congress, the US Embassy has by law been required to return to Jerusalem, for many years now, no President has chosen after entering office to enforce that law. Although the British Foreign Office did not itself explicitly label Tel Aviv as Israel's capital, its ruling that The Guardian is entitled to call it so is a worrying precedent, perhaps opening a doorway encouraging other media to participate in the delegitimization before the world of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. It is God who "builds up" Jerusalem; it is He who establishes her, and it is He who will one day reign in her midst as the "capital", as it were, of the whole world.

PLEASE PRAY:

- On Jerusalem's behalf to Him who is a righteous "Guardian"-Who strengthens her gates, blesses her children within her, makes peace on her borders, and satisfies her hunger (Psalm 147:13-14).

- On behalf of our individual nations, that God would reveal ways of influence amongst citizens, that their countries will not be set up to be among those for whom Jerusalem becomes a cup of drunkenness, a very heavy stone which seriously incapacitates those who attempt to remove her from her God-given positioning (Zechariah 12:2-3).

- For courage amongst national leaders to honor Israel with the honor afforded other countries of the world, that embassies be located in her declared capital, Jerusalem.

IRAN: MISSILE ATTACKS ON U.S. BASES IN MIDDLE EAST

With the May 23 negotiations in Iraq failing to persuade Iran to give up its illicit nuclear program, Iranian leaders have returned to threats of war - including the provocative statement that their missiles can reach every U.S. military base in the Middle East, and a call to halt all nuclear negotiations with the West.

On Saturday, Iranian Brig. Gen. Hossein Salami threatened that all "enemy" bases in the region are vulnerable to Iranian attack. Wherever you imagine these bases are, they are within the reach of Iranian missiles," he said, according to Fars News Agency, the media outlet run by the powerful Revolutionary Guard Corps.

"Today, there is no base in the region lying outside the reach of the Iranian missiles," Brigadier General Hossein Salami said, addressing a ceremony held in honor of Martyr Hassan Tehrani Moghaddam, known as the Father of Iran's missile industry.

Also on Saturday, the editor-in-chief of Iran's conservative Keyhan newspaper - which generally reflects the Iranian regime's point of view - penned an editorial calling for a full halt to negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program.

"After two days of negotiations in Baghdad," Hossein Shariatmadari wrote, "it seems that the negotiations only serve the West and its political need with their current economic problems. The Baghdad negotiations showed that the West has not changed its attitude and still demands its illegal requests regarding Iran's nuclear program."

The Revolutionary Guards have successfully launched ballistic missiles from naval ships, and have stated that they have vessels equipped with long-range ballistic missiles.

The Guards have already mapped out the U.S. bases in the region as part of a wartime contingency plan to disrupt the movement of air and ground forces.

Iran's ballistic missiles can reach targets more than 1,250 miles away, potentially putting U.S. bases in Afghanistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and parts of other countries within Tehran's firing range. (Contributor: Fars New Agency, Daily Caller)

- Pray for our leaders that they will have the mind of Christ in dealing with this Iranian regime in His way. Pray that the Iranian populous will have the means to rise up and take back their country from this current 12th-Imam-crazed faction before their country is annihilated by world governments poised to destroy them.

- "For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens."
(Ephesians 6:12)

" . . . so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the principalities and authorities in the heavens." (Ephesians 3:10)

Kansas Governor Blocks Use of Foreign (Shariah) Law in State Courts

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback has signed a law aimed at keeping the state's courts or government agencies from basing decisions on Islamic or other foreign legal codes.

The new law, taking effect July 1, doesn't specifically mention Shariah law, which broadly refers to codes within the Islamic legal system. Instead, it says courts, administrative agencies or state tribunals can't base rulings on any foreign law or legal system that would not grant the parties the same rights guaranteed by state and U.S. constitutions.

Moslem groups had urged Brownback to veto the measure, arguing that it promotes discrimination. Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations, said a court challenge is likely because supporters of the measure frequently expressed concern about Shariah cultic law.

Sharia law and Muhammadanism are totally incompatible with democracy according to their Quran.

1. The Quran discriminates against over 50% of its followers, namely women, who are regarded as 'inferior' to men in many verses of the Quran and Ahadith.

2. A woman's word is not accepted in a Sharia court without other witnesses to corroborate her allegations.

3. In case of rape, a woman would need four male witnesses to the event for her to succeed. Presumably these four witnesses remained onlookers to the crime instead of stopping it.

4. The Quran prohibits all Jews, Christians and unbelievers from being witnesses against a Muhammadan, since their oath has no value.

Any crime, even if a capital one, if committed against an unbeliever cannot carry a death sentence against the perpetrator if he is a Muhammadan, but an unbeliever will be executed for killing a Muhammadan.

6. All unbelievers are less than third class citizens in a Muhammadan country with very limited rights.

7. All unbelievers have numerous rules and regulations which discriminate against them at all times. (The Charter of Umar).

8. It is bereft of the concept of human free will for its followers since they are all - as well as allegedly, the rest of humanity - predestined by Allah, the god of the Quran, to either Paradise or Hell without any ability for personal salvation or redemption.

The Daily Brief Tuesday, May 29, 2012

"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you."
(James 4:8a)

[The Senate is out of session this week; the House is in session.]

 The Daily Brief

1. Outrage grows over Syrian massacre
- CNN

World outrage grew Saturday as details emerged about an attack in the Syrian village of Houla, which left more than 90 people dead, including nearly three dozen children, according to the United Nations.

- Lord, we are always saddened to hear of these deaths - especially involving children. We pray freedom upon the Syrian people from the captivity of physical and spiritual death that comes from sin, and not following You and Your ways. We pray wisdom upon the leaders who are handling the situation. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- Yet she was carried away, She went into captivity. Her young children also were dashed to pieces at the head of every street; They cast lots for her honorable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.
(Nahum 3:10)

2. Russian arms shipment en route to Syria: report - Reuters

A Russian cargo ship loaded with weapons is en route to Syria and due to arrive at a Syrian port this weekend, Al Arabiya television said in a report that Western diplomats in New York described on Friday as credible.

- Lord, we pray these distribution of weapons be stopped in the name of Jesus. Give wisdom to those who are monitoring these weapons. Amen.

- Wisdom is better than weapons of war; But one sinner destroys much good. (Ecclesiastes 9:18)

3. U.S. considering plan that arms Syrian rebels - AP

As one diplomatic effort after another fails to end more than a year of brutal violence in Syria, the Obama administration is preparing a plan that would essentially give U.S. nods of approval to arms transfers from Arab nations to some Syrian opposition fighters.

- Lord, only You can bring truth from confusion, and we ask for truth to come forth. Lord, we pray that our President and his administration - and Syria - would learn righteousness, deal justly, and come to behold the majesty of the Lord. We pray that our leaders would not support unjust causes. In the name of our Lord Jesus we pray. Amen.

- Let grace be shown to the wicked, Yet he will not learn righteousness, In the land or uprightness he will deal unjustly, And will not behold the majesty of the Lord. (Isaiah 26:10)

4. Panetta: U.S. is Ready to Stop Iran from Creating Nuclear Weapons
- National Journal

U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta on Sunday indirectly confirmed recent remarks by the Ambassador to Israel that the U.S. is "ready from a military perspective" to stop Iran from making a nuclear weapon if international pressure fails.

- Lord, we continue to pray for a peaceful solution to the Iran nuclear situation. Guide leaders - including U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta - into that peaceful solution. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. (Matthew 5:10

5. Supreme Court justices' summer plans point to big decisions by late June - Fox News

One never knows when the Supreme Court will hand down its last, often biggest, opinions of the term. But the justices' summer travel schedules make it a pretty safe bet that blockbuster health care and immigration cases will be decided by the end of June.

- Lord, we pray for the Supreme Court justices to make right decisions according to the law of liberty. We pray these judgments will also show mercy to this country, and the decisions will preserve liberty. In the name of Jesus, our righteous judge, we pray. Amen.

- So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. (James 2:12-13)

6. House to examine plan for United Nations to regulate the Internet - The Hill

House lawmakers will consider an international proposal next week to give the United Nations more control over the Internet.

- Lord, we pray for the House as they examine this plan for UN regulation of the Internet. Lord, show them Your way. Have grace and mercy on this nation, and protect the people from the loss of God given freedoms. We pray for righteousness to prevail, and for the Internet to be used for good and not evil. Lord, consider that You have many people in this nation, and have mercy on us. We stand in the gap and repent, for many in this nation have turned from You. Bring an awakening from spiritual death to the nation, and the Internet. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people. (Exodus 33:13)

Be email careful--the government is watching

"Iran's Nuclear facility represents a toxic nuclear threat to Israel because it is allegedly developing weapons grade materials that could be used in a terror attack. In fact, many have been concerned for a long time that Iran could supply al Qaeda with dirty bombs, which in turn, could be distributed to the Taliban, Hezbollah, Hamas or any other terrorist organization that might initiate a suicide attack on any number of targets. American nationalists believe that Islamist fundamentalists will attack. They could be setting up a communications infrastructure to watch ports, bridges, subways and power grids for opportunities." Almost all these words trigger the federal government looking at your emails.

In fact, because this email contains such words, it is probably being monitored by the Department of Homeland Security. If you even write about going to work on the "Metro" or having to leave for the "Airport" for your vacation to "Mexico" your email could trigger the watchful eye of the government. Thanks to a Freedom of Information request by the Electronic Privacy Information Center, the DHS was forced to release the 2011 Analyst's Desktop Binder used by the National Operations Center which identifies "media reports that reflect adversely on DHS and response activities." The UK Daily Mail reports that DHS officials, however, deny that they police the internet for signs of government dissent.

Whether they do or not, they can and are using their technology to read emails that have hundreds of words in them that normal folks like us could use in every day back and forth conversations with our friends and associates. Now many people will say, "if that is what it takes to keep us safe, I'm ok with it." Others will say, "I am not doing anything wrong, so they won't bother me." There is a fine line between sniffering out potential terrorists (ooops, there I triggered another search of this email) and spying on Americans. The Founding Fathers were so concerned about the government becoming a spy organization on its own people that they gave us the Bill of Rights in the Constitution.

The 4th Amendment says, "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." Our personal security is violated by this government. 2 Corinthians 5:10 says, "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Messiah; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." I would much rather be in the hands of YHVH and His judgment than that of our government.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Urgent national pro-life alert in Congress

Dear Sara, We just received news from our friends on Capitol Hill that this coming Wednesday, May 30, the House of Representatives will vote on the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (PRENDA), H.R. 3541, introduced by pro-life hero Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ). H.R. 3541 would ban abortions that are done solely because the unborn baby is the "wrong" gender.
Take Immediate Action: Tell your Representative to protect unborn children from sex-selective abortion by voting YES on PRENDA (H.R. 3541)

It may seem hard to believe, but every day precious unborn girls have their lives brutally ended in their mother's womb simply because they are girls.

Sex-selection abortion isn't just happening in countries like China where human rights hero and activist Chen Guancheng was imprisoned for exposing forced abortions under the government's brutal one-child policy. Tragically, this is happening right here in the United States.

Researchers at Columbia University have studied gender-ratios within communities here in the U.S. and have found evidence that baby girls are being aborted solely because of their gender.
This common-sense measure to fight gendercide happening in our own country has overwhelming public support. A poll released just last week by the Charlotte Lozier Institute, the SBA List's research arm, shows that 77% of Americans support legislation banning abortions performed solely because the unborn child is a girl. Such legislation is even more popular among women, with 80% supporting a ban.

Make no mistake: this is a winning issue that will save the lives of countless unborn girls. There is no reason that any elected official should vote against this common sense, life-saving bill that prohibits the one of the most prevalent forms of violence and sex discrimination against women.

Only the most radical pro-abortion organizations are against this measure.

Planned Parenthood, the nation's #1 abortion provider, opposes this pro-women bill and has even said they will perform abortions for any reason, even if the reason is to abort a baby girl. This radical stand is anti-women, anti-life, and simply unacceptable.

That's why it is urgent that you take immediate action to contact your Representative to support H.R. 3541.

After you've contacted your Representative, forward this email to at least 5 or 10 of your like-minded friends and ask them to join in the fight to ban sex-selective abortion. You might even try contacting some of your pro-choice friends and asking them if they will support our efforts to stop violence against unborn baby girls.

For Life,
Marjorie Dannenfelser
President, Susan B. Anthony List
www.sba-list.org
[You may contact your representative by calling the Capitol Hill Switchboard at 202-224-3121.] and ask to be connected to his or her office. THERE IS STILL TIME IN THE MORNING TO TAKE ACTION ON THIS CRITICAL, PRO-LIFE BILL. Thank you!]

More on PRENDA from the Family Research Council

How does Planned Parenthood find the time to complain about the "war on women" when it's so preoccupied with its own war on baby girls? While liberals were busy inventing a controversy about gender discrimination, it turns out the biggest offender was right under their nose. Apparently, Planned Parenthood has expanded its services to include not only racist abortions--but sexist ones too. In an explosive new video from Live Action, a clinic worker in South Austin, Texas is caught coaching an undercover actress how to go about aborting her baby if it's not the sex she wants.

" . . . [Y]ou say that you want to terminate if it's a girl, so are you just wanting to continue the pregnancy in the meantime or what?" Planned Parenthood's Rebecca asks. They casually talk about waiting until the mom is five months along, when the ultrasound will confirm the baby's gender. "A lot of doctors will place judgment because the brain is already developed, a lot... pretty much everything is developed," Rebecca cautions. But, she suggests, just "keep it quiet" and come back for the procedure. As if that weren't enough, Rebecca goes on to explain how this mom can scam Medicaid to pay for it. The tape ends with Rebecca cheerfully wishing her client, "Good luck--and I hope that you do get your boy!"

When Live Action exposed Planned Parenthood for covering up statutory rape in eight separate clinics, liberals said it was an anomaly. When Lila posted videos of three offices accepting racially-motivated donations, it was a "rogue element." Then, there were the seven tapes of Planned Parenthood aiding sex traffickers and enabling pimps. Suddenly, people stopped buying the line about these "isolated incidents" and started seeing Planned Parenthood for the greedy opportunists they are.

Last month, when the organization suspected that Lila Rose had struck again, it fired off a statement condemning the very practices that so many of its clinic workers encouraged. "Gender bias is contrary to everything our organization works for daily in communities across the country," Leslie Kantor insisted. "Planned Parenthood opposes racism and sexism in all forms." Unfortunately, for Cecile Richards's group, Lila's videos tell a different story. An organization that supposedly champions women is actually targeting them for destruction. And they have your tax dollars to thank for it! No longer is this a problem of only communist China or India. Sex-selection abortion, an epidemic responsible for an estimated 163 million missing girls globally, will be in America to stay--unless Congress acts.

Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) has done everything in his power to ensure that it will act, as he works to get more members on board with his Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act before its vote tomorrow. Under Franks' bill, H.R. 3541, the U.S. would join most industrial democracies in outlawing gender-based abortion. Believe it or not, all but four states-- Illinois, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Arizona--allow it. "Our innate sense of human fairness should make it abundantly clear that aborting a little baby because he or she happens to be black or because he or she has been arbitrarily deemed 'lesser' is fundamentally wrong, representing a betrayal of the precious truth that all men are created equal . . . " Rep. Franks said.

Under the current rules, the House will need a two-thirds majority to pass legislation that everyone, including radical liberals, should support. If the Left, and especially feminists, were truly concerned about women, they'd be leading the charge to criminalize sex-selection abortion and protect the world's baby girls. Help Rep. Franks fight back by contacting your congressman today and urging him to vote yes on H.R. 3541. (Family Research Council)

Bilderberg power masters meet in the US

Every time a "Bilderberg Meeting" takes place, important things happen. The last time they met in the US was an election year, 2008 - and the world got Obama.

This year they're back in the US: will they decide who the next president of the United States.

¬When in 2008 they gathered from June 5 to 8 in Chantilly, Virginia - just a stone's throw from the Washington DC - Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were neck-in-neck in the battle for the Democratic Party's presidential candidacy.

On June 5 of that year, Barack and Hillary mysteriously "disappeared" for some hours "somewhere in the DC area." Their agendas blocked out, they clearly sneaked off to "Meet the Bilderbergers."

The media kept mum about that, save for an Associated Press report on the campaign trail saying that, "reporters traveling with Obama sensed something might be happening between the pair (i.e. Obama and Hillary) when they arrived at Dulles International Airport after an event in Northern Virginia and Obama was not aboard the airplane. Asked at the time about the Illinois Senator's whereabouts, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs smiled and declined to comment." (The AP dispatch "Obama and Clinton meet, discuss uniting Democrats" is, strangely, "no longer available" on their website).

Be that as it may, two days later, Hillary withdrew from the race and Obama became the presidential candidate. Did Bilderberg make Hillary "an offer she couldn't refuse" to clear the way for Obama to the White House? Did they promise her that she would become his Secretary of State?

Although most Bilderberg annual meetings are held in Europe - France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Denmark, England, Scotland, Norway - this US election year they're again gathering at the Westfield Marriott Hotel in Virginia from May 30 to June 3. Either they're very fond of that place, or of US elections, or both!

So the question is: will "key presidential candidacy decisions" be made again this year? Will a Republican wildcard appear? A "God-inspired Burning Bush" of some sort, perhaps? (RT)

Prayer Request:

We may never learn the agenda(s) that the Bilderbergs hope to achieve during their five-day meeting in Virginia, but we do know that our Lord has His own agenda for each one who attends: the agenda He wrought for each one on the Cross two-thousand years ago. Pray that our Lord would bring a breakthrough of His grace into each heart, just as He did with Paul on the road to Damascus. Men have their plans, and God has his.
Verse:

(For the intercessors) "You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you; And light will shine on your ways." (Job 22:28)

(For the Bilderbergs) "The Lord] wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth." (I Timothy 2:4)

Shavuot: A Message from Israel

Friday, May 25, 2012

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem, Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that everyman heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marveled. . . (Acts. 2:1-7a).

Dear Intercessors for Israel: Shavuot (Pentecost) greetings from Jerusalem! This is a wonderful place to be at this time. The synagogues are full of people Saturday night. They attend lectures, as well as read and study the Book of Ruth until the early hours of the morning. Then before sunrise, whole congregations leave their synagogue and walk to the Western wall.

The practice of learning all night is a custom, rather than a commandment,. Perhaps it is founded on the desire to draw closer to God. It also is carried out to counter the behavior of the Jewish people who slept at Mount Sinai instead of waiting for the giving of the Torah. By staying up the entire night and studying, their descendants strive to rectify the slight caused in giving honor of the Torah. Like Tevya says in Fiddler on the Roof: "It's a tradition."

Throughout the night at the Western Wall (the Kotel) prayers and study sessions go on. Jerusalem hotels are also packed to capacity as tourists who remember past years, and those who have been told of its beauty, wait with anticipation for the event. Right before dawn, one can see tens of thousands making their way to the Wall for an early morning prayer service. Some years ago one early Shavuot morning, Marylois and I were awakened by rousing sounds of songs being heartily sung. We looked out our window and saw whole troop of IDF soldiers marching down Hebron road towards the Wall. One year we made it to the Kotel at daybreak. The place was packed. You can understand then how Peter was able to preach to so many people on Pentecost. Three thousand souls heard his word that morning and received it. It must have been quite an altar call, for they were baptized the same day! Pentecost is the name the western world knows for this Feast. Hellenistic Jews gave it that name since it occurs fifty days after Passover.

I started this prayer letter with a lengthy word from Acts 2. "There came a sound from heaven as a rushing mighty wind and the whole house was filled." Jerusalem can be a windy city. The winds have blown so hard against the House of Peace that the windows shake and the air enters in with a low humming that progressively gets louder. I imagine the 120 disciples in the Upper Room had quite a time when that happened. Then the fire came down! Glory! But you don't have to go to the Upper Room in Jerusalem to receive the Holy Spirit. It's a free gift. Just ask Him for it and you will be blessed. As Peter said "Upon my servants and my handmaidens' I will pour out in those days my Spirit, and they shall prophesy." These are those days. Marylois and I were baptized in the Holy Spirit when hands were laid upon us, in a prayer meeting in Naples, Italy some 35 years ago. We have never, ever, been the same, and don't want to be. We love what the Holy Spirit has done in our lives. You will too.
Shavuot/Pentecost blessings:

Studying Bible with Bibi

(Last week), On Wednesday afternoon in Baghdad, a few thousand kilometers away from the Prime Minister's Jerusalem Residence, the world powers known as the P5+1 - the US, China, Russia, France, Britain and Germany - sat down for much anticipated talks with the Iranians about their nuclear program.

At the same time, just a few hundred meters away from the Prime Minister's Residence, 100 or so people loudly demonstrated for the rights of Ethiopian immigrants and against discrimination.

And all the while, for two hours on a mild afternoon, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu - with a small black kippa on his head - sat in the covered courtyard of his home with 16 rabbis, academics, Bible scholars, archeologists and linguists, and discussed the meaning of the Book of Ruth, which will be read on Shavuot on Sunday in synagogues around the world. His wife, Sara, sat next to him, and his two sons sat on a bank of chairs set to the side. . .
This is better then the usual matters he has to deal with, Netanyahu quipped as the session - originally scheduled for an hour - went 60 minutes longer than planned.

"The Bible is a parable for humanity," Netanyahu said at the outset in English, giving a powerful sound-bite to the cameras invited to film just the opening of the study circle. "If the Jews are able to cross the river of time, and in their vast odyssey cross the chasm of annihilation and come back to their ancestral home, that means there is hope for humanity."

The PMO, along with the Menachem Begin Heritage Center, organized the event, a reincarnation of a tradition David Ben-Gurion began, when as prime minister he hosted a regular Bible study circle, and also Menachem Begin adopted when he was prime minister. It is dedicated to Sara Netanyahu's father, Shmuel Ben-Artzi, a noted Bible teacher and enthusiast who passed away in November.

A tale is told that one Saturday evening Begin was studying the weekly Torah portion with his group, when a call came in from the White House. US president Jimmy Carter was on the line. Begin is said to have replied that he was in the middle of studying verses from Deuteronomy, and that Carter should call back in a couple of hours.

Apocryphal or not, the story sends a message that certain things are important, like calls from the US president, and other things are even more so. That seemed the message Netanyahu was trying to send as well.

Wednesday's meeting, the first of a number of study sessions that are to take place throughout the year, was more symbol than substance, more message than meat.

And Netanyahu made clear what the message was: "Ben-Gurion and Begin believed that the Bible should be the heritage of the entire nation - secular and religious, young and old, men and women. The Bible is the foundation of our existence. It unites the Jewish people, as it has throughout the generations. It also serves not only as a foundation but also as a map and compass," he said.

"The Bible is always relevant vis-Ă -vis today's problems and challenges. It inspires, it is a source of life for our people and I think that it is important to expand Bible study and love of the Bible among all parts of the nation. This is also the goal of this circle."

. . . the significance of the afternoon was less in the insights given - talk about how the Bible is both law and spirit, full of complexities reflecting life's contradictions and compromises - and more in the very fact that Netanyahu decided to resurrect Ben-Gurion and Begin's tradition. While an absorbing discussion ensued, Wednesday's prime ministerial study circle shed more light on Netanyahu - his psyche, world view and the way he sees his role - than it did on the Book of Ruth. The Daily Brief - Friday, May 25, 2012

"Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, 'Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us.' He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision." (Psalm 2:1-4)

[A note to our readers: in honor of Memorial Day, we will stand down on Monday. Thank you for joining us in honoring our veterans on this very special American holiday. Amen.]

The Daily Brief

1. New Signs of Global Slowdown - Wall Street Journal

New signs of a global slowdown are darkening the economic outlook, with measures of business sentiment in Europe slipping and reports from manufacturers around the world turning down.

- Father, this is interesting news following the G8 and NATO summit in Chicago last weekend. Apparently, the world's financiers are unable to think their way to fiscal soundness. We thank You that You do have the answers for the whole world, not just financially, but in every area of our lives and those of the nations.

We ask, Lord, that these experts will turn to You for Your answers. We pray for the salvation of all the nations and their peoples. Give wisdom, Lord, to these heads of states, and show Yourself to them . . that they may bow to Your authority and accept Your provision in every area, giving their lives to You. Amen.

- "My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." (Colossians 2:2,3)

2. Did somebody say McJobless? -Washington Times

Did somebody say McJobless? The American job market is no place for students as the number of employed high schoolers has hit its lowest level in more than 20 years, according to new figures from the National Center for Education Statistics. In 1990, 32 percent of high school students held jobs, versus just 16 percent. Sectors that traditionally have offered teens their first paying gig - fast-food chains, movie theaters, malls and big-box retailers - have now become the last resorts for out-of-work college graduates or older Americans forced back into the labor force out of sheer financial necessity. The resulting squeeze has left students on the outside looking in.

- Abba, again we come to You asking for wisdom and discernment for those seeking jobs. We know that many young people start their working life in these "level entry" employment situations. However, now with so many jobless people, they too are now taking these jobs, leaving the teens out in the cold. Father, You have promised to meet all of our needs, and so we ask that You guide the unemployed to be creative in their thinking, and to find employment for all. Thank You. In Jesus' Name, amen.

- "And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day."
(Deuteronomy 8:18)

3. Real federal deficit dwarfs official tally: $5 Trillion!
- USA Today

The deficit was $5 trillion last year. The official number was $1.3 trillion. Liabilities for Social Security, Medicare and other retirement programs rose by $3.7 trillion in 2011, according to government actuaries, but the amount was not registered on the government's books.

- Father, we ask that, according to Your Word, the secret things would be revealed, and that which was hidden shall be made known. We ask that the true figures of our deficit be made known far and wide, so politicians seeking office would be held accountable for this financial mess they have created. We pray that the "books" will reflect the true picture, and not be manipulated by those who lust for power.

Shine Your Light in these dark corners, expose the "cover-ups" and bring fiscal soundness to our nation, we pray. May we elect those who will be people of honor and integrity in all things financial, and otherwise. Amen.

- "He said to them, "Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don't you put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear." (Mark 4:21-23)

4. Obama: GOP 'standing in way' of recovery - USA Today

Obama sought today to shift blame for the bumpy economy to congressional Republicans, saying too many of them are "standing in the way" of recovery.

- Lord, we know that this is the season for playing the "blame game", when each party accuses the other of being the problem, in order to gain votes. Again, Lord, we do ask that Your truth and clarity be brought to this issue, and reveal that which has been hidden and/or manipulated. Reveal the Truth to all, and may that truth, indeed, set us free. In Yeshua's Name, Amen.

- "So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, " If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." (John 8:31,32)

5. Soldiers place thousands of flags at Arlington graves
- CNN

Soldiers placed small American flags at the graves of more than 260,000 service members in Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday ahead of the Memorial Day weekend.

- Abba, we are so grateful to You for those men and women who gave their lives so that we may remain free! We do ask Your continuing comfort for the families of these precious soldiers, and we ask that this Memorial Day will bring to mind all that freedom means. We honor these brave soldiers and thank You for them.

We ask, that we, as Americans, will value and protect our freedoms in our lives, and also at the polls this November. Through Yeshua's precious blood shed for our freedom from sin, we pray. Amen.

- " And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death."
(Revelation 12:11)

Americans confused on Abortion

A recent Gallup poll indicated that Americans who call themselves "pro-choice" on abortion are at the lowest levels in recorded history. Gallup says that 41% of Americans identify themselves as pro-choice while 50% say they are "pro-life." Good news, right? Not so fast says a Chicago Tribune analysis of the Gallup analysis. The spin doctor newspaper of the man who occupies the Oval Office's home town says that Americans by an overwhelming majority--77%--believe that women should be able to legally obtain an abortion under specific circumstances. This begs the question, "How can Americans call themselves "pro-life" and still overwhelmingly support legal abortion?"

In the liberal Chicago Tribune's diatribe, it comes down to situational ethics. The lib Trib cites a University of Chicago poll indicating that about 90% of Americans believe that abortion should be legal if a mother's health is seriously in danger, and about 80% believe abortions should be legal in cases of rape, incest or --here's a new one-- "there is a strong chance of serious defect in the baby." Gallup, however, found that 52% of Americans believe abortion should be legal under certain circumstances, 25% say under any circumstances. Hence the lib Trib's spin of 77% who believe abortion should be legal for certain conditions.

Gallup says 51% of Americans consider abortion morally wrong, and 38% say its morally acceptable. There is a wide gap of those who have no opinion. They either don't know, or they know deep down in their hearts and don't want to admit it. Over the years, my wife and I have encountered very few women who actually are enthusiastic about getting an abortion. A mother knows the score. She knows that having an abortion is killing her baby. Most everyone I have ever talked to who had an abortion regrets it and lives with that pain everyday. No matter how hard the lib Trib and other leftist outlets try to manipulate public opinion on this issue, most Americans know that abortion is a bad thing....

Tax Deductions for Physician-[provided Charity Care - H.R.5849

Between Obamacare, new onerous mandates, low reimbursement rates from Medicaid, and frivolous lawsuits, doctors are beleaguered from all ends. Some of our most talented and experienced physicians are leaving the profession, while not enough youngsters are entering the medical field.

While conservatives strongly believe in a low, flat tax rate without any deductions, we are still burdened with the current system. As the system is currently constituted, successful doctors already pay too much in taxes, especially considering the high costs of malpractice insurance they must incur.

To that end, Congressman Bobby Schilling (R-IL) has introduced a bill (H.R. 5849) to offer tax deduction to those physicians that provide charity care to those who cannot afford regular medical care. Just like we believe that charitable giving should supplant government-run welfare (to that end, we have the charitable deduction), charity care should replace government-subsidized healthcare.

The Good News Corner:

Maine Budget Cuts Funds to Planned Parenthood

Maine will not send tax dollars to the Family Planning Council of Maine and Planned Parenthood under its 2013 budget, which was signed last week by Gov. Paul LePage.

The budget eliminates $400,000 from the abortion businesses. The cuts were among $80 million in reductions by the state to close shortfalls in the budget. Life advocaates said women are not losing any access to health services, since many providers do not perform abortions.
"This is a real victory for Maine," said Carroll Connelly Jr., executive director of the Christian Civic League of Maine. "It's the first time that this funding has ever been cut from family planning and Planned Parenthood. It's becoming more and more apparent to even moderates that Planned Parenthood is not somebody that you really want to be associated with."
The budget passed the Senate, 19-14, and the House, 75-61.

Teresa McCann-Tumidajski, executive director of the Maine Right to Life Committee, said the governor and Legislature reflect the majority of Mainers who do not want taxpayer support of abortion businesses.

"It just means (services) will not be available through that particular group," she said. "There are services available elsewhere throughout the state and throughout the country. Just because people do not get funding through Planned Parenthood or providers that are associated with the abortion industry, they can go elsewhere." (CitizenLink)
