Focus on Israel

1. Prime Minister Netanyahu warns of cyber risks that can down military, civilian flights - Israel Hayom

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on governments worldwide on Wednesday to join forces to defend against cyber threats that he said could even bring down military and civilian aircraft.

Cybersecurity also represents an enormous business opportunity, Netanyahu told the Cyber Week conference at Tel Aviv University, adding that Israel receives about 20% of global investments in the sector.

"We cannot go back to the world of levers, pulleys and couriers. Since we are going forward, we are absolutely vulnerable. Our airlines can be brought down, our fighter planes can be brought down," he said.

While Israel monitors attacks at its National Cybersecurity Center in the southern city of Beersheba, Netanyahu said there was "no silver bullet."

"This is a supreme test for our civilization. It's going to be tested not only by criminal organizations, by terrorists, but by other states. We have to combine forces," said Netanyahu.

2. PM's wife faces criminal charges for allegedly misusing public funds - Israel Hayom

Sara Netanyahu, the wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was indicted on Thursday for suspected financial irregularities in the management of the Prime Minister's Residence.

She denies any wrongdoing.

The Prime Minister's Residence affair is the collective term for a number of cases concerning the official residence in Jerusalem. The main case centers on suspicions that, between 2010 and 2013, Netanyahu misused public funds by spending some 390,000 shekels (over $100,000) on catered gourmet meals, despite employing two state-funded cooks.

The prime minister's wife faces charges of fraud, breach of trust and aggravated fraudulent receipt of goods. If convicted, she could face up to five years behind bars.

3. Bulgaria to open honorary consulate in Jerusalem - World Israel News

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced at his Sunday cabinet meeting that Bulgaria will open an honorary consulate in Jerusalem very soon. Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borisov decided on the step when he visited Israel earlier this month.

In doing so, Sofia will be following in the footsteps of Prague. The Czech Republic reopened its honorary consulate in Jerusalem at the end of May after a hiatus of 18 months caused by the death of its previous honorary consul, Israeli-Czech journalist Tatiana Hoffman.

However, unlike the Czechs, who according to their new consul see the move as focusing more on economic issues, the Bulgarian prime minister views this legation as having a broader mandate, the prime minister said.

4. Hundreds demonstrate in Ramallah against PA - Israel National News

Hundreds of Palestinian Arabs demonstrated on Saturday in Ramallah to demand that the Palestinian Authority (PA) lift punitive measures against the Hamas-run Gaza Strip, AFP reported.

The demonstrators chanted "scrap the sanctions!" during the protests that were organized by civil society groups.

The Ramallah-based PA has introduced a series of measures against Gaza over the past year including, among others, a reduction in the salaries of public service employees.

In early June, Arabs rioted in Ramallah, demanding that the PA cabinet take action over the deteriorating situation in Gaza. Last week, an organization aimed at ending the PA punitive measures against Gaza announced a series of demonstrations this week, in cities such as Bethlehem, Beirut, Amman, New York and Amsterdam.

Both Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) have expressed support for the anti-PA demonstrations. Hamas sees them as a means of exerting pressure on the PA to integrate Hamas and Islamic Jihad into the PLO institutions and hold general elections for the PLO and PA institutions with the participation of the Islamic organizations.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh just recently praised the demonstrations in Ramallah.

5. The British are coming: Israel excitedly awaits first ever royal visit - Times of Israel

Prince William is set to arrive in Israel and the Palestinian territories this week for the first official visit of a member of the British royal family, ending the monarchy's decades-long mostly hands-off approach to one of the world's most sensitive regions.

Though the trip is being billed as non-political, and places a special emphasis on technology and joint Israeli-Arab projects, the Duke of Cambridge will also be meeting with the Israeli and Palestinian leaders and visiting landmark Jerusalem sites at the heart of the century-old conflict.

The prince kicks off his Middle East visit Sunday in Jordan where we will meet refugees from the civil war in neighboring Syria and tour the famous archaeological site at Jerash, where his wife, the former Catherine Middleton, once visited when her family lived in Jordan.

1. Erdogan proclaimed winner in Turkey presidential election, to acquire sweeping new powers - Fox News

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was returned to office with expanded powers, the country's electoral board said Sunday, brushing aside opposition claims that the results were incomplete. (Read more)

- Father God, because Turkey was the home of the caliphate during the Ottoman Empire, and because its leaders have stated their goal to see that empire restored, any news out of Turkey bears watching, and prayer. We ask You to place a hedge around President Erdogan, and to cancel any plans he may have in his heart that would harm Israel. In Your name, amen.

- "But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come . . ." (2 Timothy 3:1)

2. Judicial Watch Obtains IRS Documents Revealing McCain's Subcommittee Staff Director Urged IRS to Engage in "Financially Ruinous" Targeting - Judicial Watch

Judicial Watch today released newly obtained internal IRS documents, including material revealing that Sen. John McCain's former staff director and chief counsel on the Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee, Henry Kerner, urged top IRS officials, including then-director of exempt organizations Lois Lerner, to "audit so many that it becomes financially ruinous." Kerner was appointed by President Trump as Special Counsel for the United States Office of Special Counsel.

The explosive exchange was contained in notes taken by IRS employees at an April 30, 2013, meeting between Kerner, Lerner, and other high-ranking IRS officials. Just ten days following the meeting, former IRS director of exempt organizations Lois Lerner admitted that the IRS had a policy of improperly and deliberately delaying applications for tax-exempt status from conservative non-profit groups.

In the full notes of an April 30 meeting, McCain's high-ranking staffer Kerner recommends harassing non-profit groups until they are unable to continue operating. Kerner tells Lerner, Steve Miller, then chief of staff to IRS commissioner, Nikole Flax, and other IRS officials, "Maybe the solution is to audit so many that it is financially ruinous." In response, Lerner responded that "it is her job to oversee it all:" (Read more)

- Father God, we pray for all legitimate non-profit groups to be supported by the hand of God to obtain IRS approval for tax exemption. Break the power of the harassing hands of flesh that would interfere with this process. For it is in the Name of Jesus that we pray.

- "Show Your marvelous lovingkindness, O God that saves by Your right hand them which put their trust in You from those that rise up against them." (Psalm 17:7)

3. Draining the swamp: White House proposes unprecedented reorganization of federal government - Washington Times

The White House on Thursday proposed the most comprehensive plan to reorganize the federal government in 100 years, including a merger of the departments of Education and Labor, and a proposal to add work requirements for welfare programs.

"Businesses change all the time," said White House Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney. "Government doesn't, and one of the things you get when you hire a businessman to become president is you bring this attitude from the private sector."

The sweeping reorganization plan stems from an order signed by Mr. Trump in March 2017 calling for a review of the federal government to streamline agencies and reduce waste. The combined education and labor department would be called the Department of Education and the Workforce, or DEW, and would oversee programs for students and workers.

The plan would also move the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, from the USDA to Health and Human Services, which would be renamed the Department of Health and Public Welfare and oversee public assistance programs.

"We're still dealing with a government that is from the early 20th century," Mr. Mulvaney said. "It simply doesn't make sense." In merging the Departments of Education and Labor, Mr. Mulvaney said, the government's 47-odd job-training programs could be reduced to 16. The plan also would privatize the U.S. Postal Service. - Almighty God, we pray that Your presence move in a miraculous way to sift through the maze of many organizations in our federal government and bring instant clarity for the solution to be put in place. Your presence will disallow the hordes of demonic influences from interfering in this process. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus' Name we pray.

- "The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave His voice; hail stones and coals of fire. Yea, He sent out His arrows, and scattered them; and He shot out lightnings, and discomfited them." (Psalm 18:13-14)

4. Shock report: Health care eats 17% GDP, Medicaid up 3,491%, fraud, Obamacare blamed - Washington Examiner

Health care consumes 17 percent of the nation's gross domestic product, driven in part by government control, Obamacare and massive fraud in Medicaid, once a Washington afterthought but now serving 70 million, according to a sweeping new Senate report.

Set for release by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Wednesday morning, the investigation by Chairman Sen. Ron Johnson's staff found that Medicaid, which initially cost just $222 per user, has soared to $7,973, a 3,491 increase. Overall cost to taxpayers for the program designed for the poor is $554 billion. And, according to the report, a major reason is fraud, overpayments and poor oversight by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. "Medicaid fraud is rampant," said the report provided in advance to Secrets.

The fraud found by the committee's majority staff was sobering and stunning. For example Medicaid overpayments to health care providers totals $37 billion, hundreds of thousands of users aren't even eligible for Medicaid, many "dead" people are getting benefits, there are 20,000 fraud investigations ongoing, and several providers are reporting "spectacular profits."

Another driver in the surging costs for Medicare was Obamacare -- the Affordable Care Act -- said the report. "The ACA worsened the problem of Medicaid fraud and overpayments by giving states incentives to declare people newly eligible to receive 100 percent federal reimbursement during the Medicaid expansion's first three years," it said. But expecting the government to cut overall costs may be tough since it is the government that provides so much health care, added the report. It said, "The U.S. health care financing system is broken and increasingly is dominated by the government. By transitioning to a third-party payment system, we have separated the consumer of health care products and services from the direct payment for them. Most consumers do not know what treatments costs, and except for the cost of insurance or copays, they really do not care." (Read more)

- Father, we pray our government will regain control over the operations and costs of the Medicaid program. Help them expose and prosecute the fraud and abuse going on within the system.

- Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, but he who gathers by labor will increase. (Proverbs 13:11)

5. Conservative Coalition Calls on Tech Giants to Provide Plans for Eliminating Bias and Censorship - CNS News

On Tuesday, the Media Research Center (MRC) and the recently formed coalition, Conservatives Against Online Censorship, called on tech giants Google, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to release blueprints by September 1 for how they will address four key areas of concern. In April, the Media Research Center released an extensive report documenting incidents of bias and censorship against conservatives by Google, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Since its release, Facebook and Google have met with key members of the coalition, including MRC, and have begun to take steps toward rectifying some of the issues listed in the report. To date, Twitter has been unresponsive.

"While some progress has been made, our coalition and the conservative movement need to see a tangible commitment to change from all of these tech companies. We are calling on Google, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to lay out the steps they plan to take to ensure their platforms are a place for conservatives and liberals alike," said Media Research Center President Brent Bozell.

"If Google, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube want to earn back the trust of the American people, they need to show us they are serious about eliminating bias and tackling the concerns expressed by the conservative movement. It is not enough to simply say you will do it. We need to know how you will get it done."

Conservatives Against Online Censorship is a coalition of more than 30 conservative organizations calling for an end to bias and censorship online. For more information about Conservatives Against Online Censorship, please visit: http://stopcensoringconservatives.com/ (Read more)

- Lord God, send the glorious Light of Jesus Christ around President Trump so that no darkness can be around him. Keep his mind guarded from unholy interference so that He think as Jesus thinks. Hold up his goings in Your paths, that his footsteps slip now. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

- "Now know I that the Lord saves His anointed; He will hear him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand." (Psalm 20:6)

6. MSNBC's Deutsch equates Trump voters to Nazi guards: 'If you vote for Trump, you're the bad guy' - The Hill

MSNBC's Donny Deutsch on Friday compared people who vote for President Trump to Nazis, saying "if you vote for Trump, you're the bad guy." He also called on Democrats to make the election a referendum on Trump voters, not the president himself.

Deutsch's comparison of Trump voters to Nazis came as he criticized the administration's "zero tolerance" border policy that separated parents from their children at the border. Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday ending the separations.

"We can no longer say Trump's the bad guy. If you vote for Trump, you're the bad guy," Deutsch said on "Morning Joe. If you vote for Trump, you are ripping children from parents' arms," he added. "What the Democrats have to do is make the next election a referendum on not who Trump is, but who you are."

"If you vote for Trump then you, the voter, you, not Donald Trump, are standing at the border, like Nazis, going 'you here, you here,' " Deutsch said. (Read more)

- Almighty God, we call upon Your righteous Name to stand against this delirium by Donny Deutsch against the voters for President Trump. We plead the Blood of Jesus over these voters who will have many sundry reactions to this man's incisive word curses. Bind his words to the Cross of Christ and bring them down to sawdust with no power or effect over anyone or anything. Take him out of the limelight so he will never receive further recognition to ensnare any innocent souls. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

- "Whoso privily slanders his neighbor, him will I cut off: him that has a high look and a proud heart will I not suffer." (Psalm 101:5)

7. Report: Illegal immigration harms blacks, robs social services from legal Americans - Washington Examiner

A new report that put the cost of illegal immigration at $113 billion a year shows that the burden falls disproportionately on urban blacks who have to pay taxes to fund free services to undocumented aliens and then compete with them for those same programs. In seeking a "better deal" for black Americans, the report from Project 21, part of the conservative National Center for Public Policy Research, is calling on Congress and the White House to bar illegals from receiving public aid except emergency services and prosecute groups that use federal funds on those in the country illegally.

"Blacks and the working class shouldn't be taxed to pay for illegal immigrants," said Project 21 Co-Chairman Horace Cooper. He added . . . "Unfortunately it's happening all across the country. Once again the Democrats take blacks and poor people for granted. This time they expect us to pay the bills too for their bad ideas. Either stem the tide of illegal immigration or find a new way to fund this costly effort."

His black leadership network just issued a set of demands titled, "Blueprint for a Better Deal for Black America." It outlines several ways in which blacks and the working class are punished by decades of illegal immigration. (Read more)

- Almighty God, we ask You to close the gates to all illegal immigrants coming into America through deception from today forward. Lord, unload the American economy from supporting illegal immigrants who entered our country under the guise of making America weak by the past administration. We call for a massive exodus to be instated by President Trump to end lawless practices and infiltration of those handpicked to topple this current administration. Open doors of opportunity and encouragement as they depart. Give them Bibles as they leave our shores. In the Name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- "Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before God's eyes; cease to do evil." (Isaiah 1:16)

8. Disability applications plunge as the economy strengthens - New York Times

The number of Americans seeking Social Security disability benefits is plunging, a startling reversal of a decades-old trend that threatened the program's solvency. It is the latest evidence of a stronger economy pulling people back into the job market or preventing workers from being sidelined in the first place. The drop is so significant that the agency has revised its estimates of how long the program will continue to be financially secure. This month, the government announced that the program would not run out of money until 2032, four years later than its previous estimate last year. Two years ago, the government had warned that the funds might be depleted by 2023.

In addition to stronger economic growth, the drop reflects newly tightened standards for eligibility and the increasing number of baby boomers who are leaving the program because they have become eligible for Social Security retirement benefits and Medicare. Fewer than 1.5 million Americans applied to the Social Security Administration for disability coverage last year, the lowest since 2002. Applications are running at an even lower rate this year, government officials say.

The Social Security Administration expected the number of applicants to decline after the recession when the total number of beneficiaries topped out, but even government number crunchers were caught off guard by the steepness and duration of the fall. (Read more)

- Lord God, how thankful we are for a stronger and stabilized economy in the United States. You are the mighty God over the United States of America and it is under Your protection and guidance that we are held secure in Your holy hands. Praise the Lord. In Jesus' Name we pray.

- "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6)

9. 'Straight Out of James Bond': Reporter Explains New Details in Dem IT Staffer Scandal - Fox News

A new report could prove that President Trump was right when he tweeted about a so-called "Pakistani mystery man" who kept Democratic National Committee documents and servers out of the hands of investigators. The report, by The Daily Caller's Luke Rosiak, says that Imran Awan -- the IT aide of former DNC chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) -- took a laptop with him in 2017 after being banned from the House computer network for "unauthorized access to data."

The report also says that Awan left the laptop, which had the username "RepDWS," "in a phone booth with a letter to prosecutors" in April 2017. "This is like straight out of James Bond," Rosiak said on "Fox & Friends First" Tuesday. Rosiak wrote: Let that sink in. A Pakistani IT aide, who had just been fired by all his other employers for being a suspected hacker, left a laptop with the username RepDWS in a phone booth. The laptop was placed next to a letter to prosecutors. What it said is not publicly known. The cache of documents also included copies of Awan's ID (which assured that police tied the laptop to a criminal suspect and seized it as evidence rather than returning it as lost property) and a note that said "attorney client privilege," which put the laptop into legal limbo.

Awan has been enrolled in a High Intensity Supervision Program with curfew restrictions after his July 2017 arrest on charges of bank fraud. He is awaiting trial in the case after pleading not guilty, with numerous hearings having to be postponed. Rosiak, who has traveled to Pakistan for his reporting, said he sees the case as "everything the Russia collusion story was supposed to be." (video at link has more details)

- Lord God, we trust You will limit this man's activities that bear ulterior motives against America. Bring him to trial speedily and convict him of all malicious acts against the United States. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

- "Depart from me, you evildoers: for we will keep the commandments of our God." (Psalm 119:115)

10. Canada's Trudeau Accused of Running a 'Totalitarian' State and Pushing Christians Out of Work - CBN News

Christian medical professionals are calling on Canadian Prime MinisterJustin Trudeau to give them "equal freedoms and access to employment." According to Robert Walley, executive director of MaterCare, Trudeau is unfairly targeting people of faith by endorsing practices that discriminate against those with strong religious beliefs. Earlier this month in an open letter to Trudeau, Walley, a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists of Canada, had this to say: "Medical students, residents, and physicians have begun to experience discrimination through denial of their right to practice according to their consciences if they do not accept your government's dictatorial policies with the consequence their recruitment into programs and positions are obstructed, though they equally qualified," he wrote.

. . . Though Trudeau has preached inclusiveness, some would argue his generosity falls short of accepting Christians and their moral beliefs.

A Harvard grad and expert in maternal care, Walley said this type of treatment is akin to that of a "totalitarian state" and does not serve the whole of the Canadian people. Walley is very concerned about the future of Canada's medical system and warns it "is unsustainable without one based on the value and dignity of each human being." Walley, a native of Newfoundland, ended his letter with this plea: "We urge you to reconsider your overbearing attitude against religious people and their employment in our country, recognizing that true democracy and diversity comes only when every voice, even those we don't agree with, is heard and valued." (Read more)

- Almighty God, we pray the Holy Spirit will hover around Justin Trudeau to witness with his soul that his unrighteous deeds and beliefs can bring his soul down to destruction. Prevent his influence from pulling Canada into poverty. We pray in the Name of Jesus and for Your glory do we pray for their salvation.

- "For he sees that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others." (Psalm 49:10)

11. Father Says Little Honduran Girl on Cover of Time Magazine Was NOT Taken from Mother: A Fake News Story Aiming to Demonize President Trump - Newsmax

[This story was also reported on our Legislative Update on Saturday.]

The Honduran toddler pictured sobbing in a pink jacket before U.S. President Donald Trump on an upcoming cover of Time magazine was not separated from her mother at the U.S. border, according to a man who says he is the girl's father.

The powerful original photograph, taken at the scene of a border detention by Getty Images photographer John Moore, became one of the iconic images in the flurry of media coverage about the separation of families by the Trump administration.

Dozens of newspapers and magazines around the globe published the picture, swelling the tide of outrage that pushed Trump to back down Wednesday and say families would no longer be separated.

"My daughter has become a symbol of the separation of children at the U.S. border. She may have even touched President Trump's heart," Denis Valera told Reuters in a telephone interview.

Valera said the little girl and her mother, Sandra Sanchez, have been detained together in the Texas border town of McAllen, where Sanchez has applied for asylum, and they were not separated after being detained near the border. (Read more)

- Father, we rejoice in knowing the truth of the story behind this infamous photo. We ask You to restore calm to our nation now, in the wake of the hysteria that many were caught up in at that time. Let Your peace rule, we pray, amen.

- "So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten . . ."
(Joel 2:24)

12. Jordan king heads to US to discuss peace plan with Trump - Times of Israel

Jordan's King Abdullah II set off for the United States on Thursday for talks with US President Donald Trump on Middle East issues including the stalled Israeli-Palestinian peace process, the palace said.

Accompanied by his wife Rania, the monarch is also scheduled to meet with senior officials from the Trump administration and members of Congress, the palace said in a statement.

His meeting with Trump is expected to take place at the White House on Monday.

The White House said in a statement that they would "discuss issues of mutual concern, including terrorism, the threat from Iran and the crisis in Syria, and working towards a lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians." (Read more)

- We ask that any and all discussions regarding a "peace plan" with Israel be in alignment with Your will for your land. Amen.

- "Do not move the ancient boundary Which your fathers have set." (Proverbs 22:28)

Technology and mental disorders in children

The World Health Organization has recently classified "gaming disorder" from playing too much video games as a mental health condition. Medicalxpress.com reports, "The statement confirmed the fears of some parents but led critics to warn that it may risk stigmatizing too many young video players." Meantime, England's National Health Service head Simon Stevens told a June 13 conference in Manchester that Britain's children were experiencing a double epidemic of mental illness and obesity related to social media and online gaming. The UK Telegraph reports that NHS is calling for Facebook, Google and online gaming firms to have a statutory duty of care to protect children from mental health issues and addictive behavior.

The international do-gooders are recognizing the ill effects of too much technology on children and are starting to do something about it, but what about the kids in America? Are video games, social media and violence on streaming video channels impacting America's kids? Are school shootings and bullying at least partially the result of too much of the wrong content on various technology platforms? What about the obesity problem among children here in the US? Washington Times Contributor Robert Knight has some specific examples in a revealing column "Taking Aim at Young Targets." Knight expertly points out the violent culture of video games and content available on phones, tablets, computers, and TVs.

Knight writes, "The "Active Shooter" video game is a diabolical instrument created by Anton Makarevskiy, a 21-year-old Russian. Players in "Active Shooter" can be a mass murderer terrorizing a school or a SWAT team member responding. As the game progresses, civilian and police death totals are tabulated on the screen." Knight aptly points out: "We don't know exactly the impact of violent video games. The media trot out psychologists who assure us that there's no causal relationship to real-life violence. In fact, a recent study claims that 80 percent of mass shooters had no interest in video games. Before we take leave of common sense, we need to ask: If viewing has no effect on behavior, why do merchants invest billions of dollars on ads to influence people's buying choices?"

Knight rhetorically asks if Hollywood liberals think their gun-heavy, ultra-violent content has no effect. He points to "13 Reasons Why," a fictional Netflix show about why a teen took her life, as an example. He quotes Tim Winter of the Parents Television Council: "Millions of children watched; the Google search term for how to commit suicide spiked 26 percent; and there were news reports of children literally taking their own lives after the series was released." According to CDC, suicide rates among girls aged 10-14 have tripled over the past 15 years. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it." As a parent/grandparent/uncle/aunt/brother/sister, we all need to double down on our efforts guide children toward Christ and away from the evils of some technology and its content.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Classic Hymns

THE OLD RUGGED CROSS

"The cross of our Lord Jesus Christ." (Galatians 6:14)

Lyrics

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain

So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

Refrain

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

Refrain

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He'll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I'll share.

Refrain

Signs and Wonders

There's a Persistent Hum in This Canadian City, and No One Knows Why

A persistent noise of unknown origin, sometimes compared to a truck idling or distant thunder, has bedeviled a Canadian city for years, damaging people's health and quality of life, numerous residents say.

Those who hear it have compared it to a fleet of diesel engines idling next to your home or the pulsation of a subwoofer at a concert. Others report it rattling their windows and spooking their pets.

Known as the Windsor Hum, this sound in Windsor, Ontario, near Detroit, is unpredictable in its duration, timing and intensity, making it all the more maddening for those affected.

"You know how you hear of people who have gone out to secluded places to get away from certain sounds or noises and the like?" Sabrina Wiese posted in a private Facebook group dedicated to finding the source of the noise.

"I've wanted to do that many times in the past year or so because it has gotten so bad," she wrote. "Imagine having to flee all you know and love just to have a chance to hear nothing humming in your head for hours on end." (New York Times) Read more

Hero Pastor Reveals the Prophetic Prayer Just Hours before Taking Down an Armed Carjacker in a Walmart Parking Lot

[Faithwire.com] The pastor who took down a carjacker at a Walmart in Tumwater, Washington, last weekend has revealed the incredible prayer he prayed over his congregation just hours before he was caught up in the tragic incident. David George is an emergency medical technician with the Oakville Fire Department and also a pastor at the Oakville Assembly of God church. He sprang into action Sunday when a gunman and carjacker went on a rampage in the local community.

"I heard shots fired near the back of the store," he stated at a press conference Thursday. "I am a concealed weapon carrier and permit holder, with significant training in the use of firearms and some of the legalities involved in a defensive encounter. As a volunteer firefighter, I have also received active shooter training. In addition, I am also a credentialed range safety officer. I train regularly to be proficient with the firearm I carry and to do so in a safe and responsible manner." (Faithwire/Breaking Christian News) Read more

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
