The Daily Brief - Friday, January 6, 2012

"And of the increase of His government and peace, there shall be no end." (Isaiah 9:7)

The Daily Brief

1. China warns US on Asia military strategy - BBC

China's state media have warned the US against "flexing its muscles" after Washington unveiled a defense review, switching focus to the Asia-Pacific.In an editorial, official news agency Xinhua said President Barack Obama's move to increase US presence in the region could come as a welcome boost to stability and prosperity. But it said any US militarism could create ill will and "endanger peace".

- O Lord of Hosts, we thank You that we will have a military presence in the Asia-Pacific region. Again, we ask for discernment for our military, and for all those in positions of authority, who will be making these decisions. We pray for efficiency in using our "pared down" military in the most advantageous way to protect ourselves and also tiny Israel. Amen

-" But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield."
(Psalm 5:11,12)

2. Obama Wants to Share U.S. Defense Secrets with Russia - Washington Times
Hussein Obama signaled Congress this week that he is prepared to share U.S. missile defense secrets with Russia.

- O Lord, our God, we do pray for Your supernatural Wisdom to be given to our Congress and our President concerning "fraternizing with the enemy"! As we watch the deepening of communism in Russia, we see them less and less as an ally. Even concerning Iran, and all kinds of aggression in the Mideast, Russia is most often on the side of the enemies of Israel, and our enemies. Father, we do pray for godly wisdom, discretion, and discernment! Our Hope is in You...we ask You to intervene in these affairs of men, and be our Protection! In Yeshua's Name, we pray.

- " Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; He lifts his voice, the earth melts. The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress."
(Psalm 46:6,7)

3. Obama unveils plans for pared-down military - CNN

Hussein Obama unveiled his administration's plan Thursday for a leaner, cheaper military, a reflection of Washington's fiscal belt-tightening and slower national economic growth. Mr Obama also plans $450bn in cuts to create a "leaner" military.

The defense budget could also lose another $500bn at the end of this year after Congress failed to agree on deficit reduction following a debt-ceiling deal in August 2011. Obama said the "tide of war was receding" in Afghanistan and that the US must renew its economic power.

- Father, we pray for wisdom again for our leaders. We thank You that the heart of the king is in Your hands and You turn it as you see fit. Lord, we know that spending must be cut, but we ask that it not be done at the expense of the defense of our nation. We ask that our governmental system of "checks and balances" will operate successfully in this matter. We ask for both wisdom and discretion to be given to all those in authority that will deal with this issue! Thank You!

- "The King's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as are the watercourses; He turns it whichever way He wills. Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs and tries the hearts. To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice." (Proverbs 21:1-3)

4. Unemployment Claims Drop to 372K Last Week
- Fox News

The number of people seeking unemployment benefits fell further in the final week of 2011, a positive sign for hiring one day ahead of Friday's December employment report.

- Abba, we thank you for this little piece of good news. We pray there will be more jobs created, and all those wanting employment will be able to find the work they need to feed their families. We come against a spirit of discouragement and hopelessness among those who have been unemployed for so long. We pray they will be energized by this news, and renew their hopes, as they find these available jobs.

- " Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom."
(Ecclesiastes 9:10)

5. Former CIA Chief: Iran 'Single Greatest Destabilizing' Force in 2012 - Fox News

Tehran will be the top threat in 2012, former CIA Director Michael Hayden predicted Wednesday as Iran dominates foreign policy debate even while national security officials appeared to dismiss the Islamic Republic's latest threat to close the Strait of Hormuz.

Analysts: Oil could jump to $210 if Iran closes Strait of Hormuz - Israel Hayom

Traders were closely watching rising tensions between Iran and Western powers on Wednesday, surmising that if Iran makes good on a recent threat to close the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil passageway, oil prices could rise sharply.

- Thank the LORD that, if we ask, He will grant His wisdom to those in authority in our military chain of command, so that only wise decisions will be made regarding policy in Iran. Bind the spirit that is operating out of Teheran that is trying to threaten the world's oil supplies, and declare victory in the Name of Jesus. Through Him, we can overcome!

- "Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven."
(Mt. 18:19)

6. Thousands of US Troops Land in Israel
- Debkafile

Thousands of US troops began descending on Israel this week. Senior US military sources told debkafile Friday, Jan. 6 that many would be staying up to the end of the year as part of the US-IDF deployment in readiness for a military engagement with Iran and its possible escalation into a regional conflict. They will be joined by a US aircraft carrier. The warplanes on its decks will fly missions with Israeli Air Force jets. The 9,000 US servicemen gathering in Israel in the coming weeks are mostly airmen, missile interceptor teams, marines, seamen, technicians and intelligence officers.

Commentary from Barry and Linda Battelstein:

As we have shared with you many times the Isaiah 17-Psalm 83 War is not just words in Scripture, it is now clearly on the horizon. Many people do not want to contemplate or believe that such a massive Biblical war is possible in their life time; however if you understand and read the Scriptures, and look at how God has positioned the nations surrounding Israel, it is no longer conjecture, it is a fact of life. . .

Please pray for God's grace on Israel, America, on all of us and our families.

- "Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near."
(Luke 21:31)

The insidious nature of American military reductions

Many Americans are alarmed by the bold move of the man who occupies the Oval Office to downsize the American military. News reports are calling this the most significant shift in military strategy since World War II. In short, the US will reduce its presence in Europe, turn its focus toward the Asian Pacific and China, rely more heavily on technology, and reduce the troop strength. This administration has decided to give the impression that budget cuts will come in military programs rather than social programs. The announcement at the Pentagon has sent ripples around the world, especially among allies who have grown dependent on a US military presence.

One one hand, it is good to reduce the size of our military and cut spending by eight percent over a ten year period. The US has become too military heavy, too much of a nation-building super power, too eager to overlay "democracy" onto systems that are totally incompatible with the responsibilities of representative government. By legitimizing an antichrist system through democracy, America has been the catalyst of nurturing evil and assisting it to grow into a formidable oppressor of religious freedom, free speech and human rights. For all the hard earned taxpayer money America's leaders have sown for a crop of peace, the harvest has been one of hatred, war, economic hardship and global instability.

On the other hand, it is conspicuous that this particular president and administration is targeting the military at this point in our nation's history. Given his promise to "remake" America, he has been true to his word. This administration has apologized for America's greatness; has refused to enforce its laws on border security, marriage, energy policy and more; has put taxpayers into historic debt; has advanced the cause of homosexuality; has overseen high unemployment and home foreclosures; has supported terrorists as a foreign policy partners; has appointed questionable Muslims to high places in the administration and the courts; and much more. It looks as though this president is trying to destroy America.

George Washington, in his 1796 Farewell Address, advised America about foreign policy: "Observe good faith and justice towards all nations; cultivate peace and harmony with all. Religion and morality enjoin this conduct...to give to mankind the magnanimous and too novel example of a people always guided by an exalted justice and benevolence." Washington believed that foreign policy based on religion and morality is worthy of a great nation. America is drifted far from this precept as our leaders have deceived us and led us astray. Proverbs 29:2 says, "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked bear rule, the people mourn." The time ahead will be laced with hardship. Let us discern well and act wisely.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

NYC: Pastors Arrested

New York Arrests City Councilman, Others, for Prayer Protest

A New York City Council member was one of seven people arrested Thursday for kneeling in prayer and blocking the entrance to a government building, protesting a new city-wide policy of prohibiting churches from meeting in any public buildings.

The issue stems from the Bronx Household of Faith case, in which a New York City church was told it could no longer meet in a public school building on the weekends. After 16 years of legal battles, the U.S. Supreme Court declined on Dec. 5 to hear the case, allowing to stand a decision from the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals saying the congregation's constitutional rights were not violated by the policy.

The Cordray Controversy

Hussein Obama has done it again. Yesterday he announced four "recess appointments." First, he appointed Richard Cordray as head of the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Then Obama appointed three new members of the National Labor Relations Board. These appointments are extremely controversial and guaranteed to further poison the atmosphere in Washington.

Senate Republicans have been blocking these appointments for various legitimate public policy reasons. But rather than work with Republicans to address the important issues at stake, Obama simply decided to score cheap political points with his left-wing base.

Constitutionally qualified presidents have the power to make recess appointments when Congress is in recess. There's only one problem -- Congress isn't in recess! As the Wall Street Journal notes: "Section 5 of Article 1 of the Constitution says that 'Neither House' of Congress can adjourn for more than three days 'without the Consent of the other' house. In this case, the House of Representatives had not formally consented to Senate adjournment. It's true the House did this to block the president from making recess appointments, but it is following the Constitution in doing so." [Emphasis added.]

The Journal also notes that Democrats deployed this same tactic during George W. Bush's last two years in order to prevent him from making recess appointments. But now Obama has taken it upon himself to decide when Congress is in session and when it isn't. Based upon Obama's logic, there is nothing to stop him from making recess appointments every weekend!

In response, the Chamber of Commerce and other business groups are promising to take the administration to court. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell blasted Obama for "arrogantly circumventing" the confirmation process. Speaker John Boehner also issued the following statement:

"This is an extraordinary and entirely unprecedented power grab by President Obama that defies centuries of practice and the legal advice of his own Justice Department. The precedent that would be set by this cavalier action would have a devastating effect on the checks and balances that are enshrined in our constitution. . . It's clear the President would rather trample our system of separation of powers than work with Republicans to move the country forward. This action goes beyond the President's authority, and I expect the courts will find the appointment to be illegitimate."

The Good News Corner (Part One)

A note from CHPP:

The Good News -- actually the best news ever -- is to announce that a soul has found salvation and has been born again into the Kingdom of God.

We received a letter from a dear friend of ours this week, who is a believer residing in the United States, but from a nation in the Middle East. It is our joy to share an excerpt from her letter, below.

Thank you for joining us in continuing intercession for the harvest to be reaped from the nations of the Middle East and from the stronghold of Islam. Nothing is too difficult for our God!
[Her English is left as is; for this is a precious, TRUE testimony!]

First month in my country every night The Holy Spirit would tell me "tonight is not the night for you to sleep, it the night you will pray with all your heart, all your straight, and all your might for your people." And I did as it was commanded to me, I will start praying from 10 pm until 5 Am, with all had in me, several time, to be exact 10 times my blood pressure dropped the next below 6, and they had to rush me to local doctor. But I knew this was just the enemy trying to stop me, I did not care what will happen to me, I kept preaching to my family, the neighbors, cousins, aunts, high school friends of min which I have not seen over 33 years.

Rev 12:11 "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." KJV

Holy Spirit talked me through the whole journey, He told me where to go, when to go there, and what to say or when to walk away. I praise His holy name, for He is so faithful and He is so kind,

Holy Spirit guides me so I knew what do with my dyeing father, 2 days before my dad died The Holy Spirit told me "you must anoint your fathers feet, I am ready to take him." I did as He commanded me. 14 days before The Lord take my father home, Holy Spirit told me I need to stay in the hospital in ICU all night and pray with all my heart, my straight and my might, I did as My God commanded me.

The next day everyone from CCU, and ICU got healed and got released. PRAISE THE LORD FOR HE IS ABLE.

My dad was the only one did not get released but, he felt so good they had to remove his machine that was hooked to him in order he can breath, his longs collapsed a day before. They removed his oxygen mask, and he was sitting on his ICU bed talking away with my mom, sisters, aunts, cousins.

What an awesome miracle!! I got very famous in the family and the hospital, I told them it was not me which performed this awesome miracle, it was MY GOD, and they wanted to know who is my GOD.

WOW, WOW, HOW AWESOME IT THAT!!

In this 14 days, I got to witness to my dad and he said the sinners prayer and he actually saw the angels and one day he confess he saw the face of the LORD, then 2 days later he went home. God is so good Sara,

Love,

S

Announcing FastForward Prayer Inititative

Sponsored by Mike and Cindy Jacobs and the U.S. Reformation Prayer Network (USRPN)

Many prophetic voices around the world are saying that the United States must make a major shift in 2012. In recognition of this, beginning Monday, January 2, 2012, the United States Reformation Prayer Network is launching FastForward - a year-long fasting and prayer initiative with the purpose of advancing the United States of America toward righteousness. We are launching this initiative with a 21-day call to prayer and fasting and then continue with 52 weeks of prayer and fasting, going state by state. It will run through the entire 2012 election cycle, the lame duck period and ends on Presidential Inauguration Day.

We want you to engage in FastForward - to rebuild the walls of righteousness around our own hearts, around each state and around the nation, and then move forward into our God-given destiny. To accomplish this, we need to mobilize a well-informed army of impassioned voices and activists to bear up the nation in prayer. Prayer for the 2012 elections is a critical part of the FastForward initiative and we need your help!

As part of the FastForward initiative, there will be strategies in place for saturating each states' electoral events in prayer and getting the Body of Christ educated on the issues and to the voting booths. To kick off the year, A 21 day prayer guide has been created for the first three weeks of the year along. Download the prayer guides or find out more using the links below:

"Never Let Go"

by the David Crowder Band

"This song speaks to me of the security found in Jesus Christ. No matter what happens in life, I'm held fast in my Savior's hand. He could have let go of the cross He carried and He had the power to come down from it as well, but He didn't. He stayed there for us, paying our ransom. There are images of disasters our country has faced in recent years and of those who serve to rescue those in peril, willingly putting themselves in harm's way. They illustrate well what Jesus has done for us." (Comment on the YouTube site where this song is posted. Be blessed!)
