The Daily Brief - Tuesday, June 7, 2011

Give ear to my words, O LORD, Consider my meditation. Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For to You I will pray. My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up. (Psalm 5:1-3, NKJV)

The Daily Brief

1. Attack kills 120 Syrian forces - USA Today

Armed men killed 120 Syrian security forces and torched government buildings Monday in a northern region where troops have unleashed deadly assaults on protesters for days, Syria said. The government vowed to respond "decisively," hinting at an even more brutal crackdown by a regime known for ruthlessly crushing dissent.

- Pray that the hinted dissensions among troops and security forces and the ensuing confusion will cause a lull in brutality and retaliation.

- "For they are a nation void of counsel, and there is no understanding in them." This Pentecost Eve, as Psalm 46.8 "Come behold the works of the Lord, who has wrought desolations and wonders in the earth." (Deuteronomy 32:28)

2. UN atom chief: New data suggests Iran military link - Ynet News

Iran may until recently have carried out nuclear work with possible military links, the UN atomic watchdog chief said on Monday, voicing growing frustration at Tehran's failure to address his concerns.

- Lord, we thank you that Amano, the Japanese IAEA Chief has taken a much blunter approach and pray that you will give him a supernatural strategy that will confound the plans of the Iranian Leaders.

- "they are a gang of treacherous men (faithless even to each other). 3. and they bend their tongue, their bow for the lies (they shoot) and not according to faithfulness do they rule and become strong in the land; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they do not know and understand and acknowledge Me, says the Lord." (Jeremiah 9:2,3)

3. Researcher: Iran can produce nuke within 2 months - Ynet News

The Iranian regime is closer than ever before to creating a nuclear bomb, according to RAND Corporation researcher Gregory S. Jones.

- Pray that God who is all powerful will cause a problem with the centrifuges, or production process or uranium itself-----it's all in His hands and can only come together or fail according to His command.

- "The LORD reigns, He is clothed with majesty; The Lord is robed, He has girded Himself with strength and power; The world also is established that it cannot be moved. Your Throne is established from of old; You are from everlasting." (Psalm 93:1)

4. Golan Heights in anticipation of further protests - Ha'aretz

The Israeli Defense Force continued Tuesday to amass forces on the border between Israel and Syria, mainly in response to warnings of further protests to mark the 44th anniversary of the battles over East Jerusalem in the Six-Day War. Monday saw a lull in the riots on the Syrian border, after several protesters were killed by IDF gunfire the day before.

- Lord, we ask You to give wisdom and strength to the IDF forces assigned to defend the borders of Israel. We pray for their protection and we ask that you be their defense and turn the battle at the gate before it goes any further.

- "He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me." (Psalms 18:17 KJV)

5. Chilean volcano grounds flights, coats ski slopes - Yahoo! News

An erupting Chilean volcano sent a towering plume of ash across South America on Monday, forcing thousands from their homes, grounding airline flights in southern Argentina and coating ski resorts with a gritty layer of dust instead of snow.

- Father, we intercede for South America. We pray provision for those who have been forced from their homes. Restore what they have lost. Protect the people from harm. In Jesus Name.

- The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you. (Numbers 6:24)

6. U.S. Tries to Restart Mideast Peace Talks - Wall Street Journal

The Obama administration held talks on Monday to jump-start stalled Middle East peace discussions, its first high-level meetings with Israeli and Palestinian negotiators in months.

- Lord, I thank You that You are in total control of this land and these people that You have commanded us to bless. I thank You that no weapon formed against them shall prosper. I thank You that Israel has been a friend to the the US. Lord, bless them no matter what plans are made against them. We decree that You are in charge of all things concerning Israel.

- "A man's heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps." (Proverbs 16:9 NKJV)

7. U.S. and France: Mideast peace conference useless if sides unwilling to negotiate - Ha'aretz

Hillary Clinton and French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe on Monday agreed that Israeli-Palestinian peace talks must resume, but stressed that there was no point in setting up a peace conference before the parties showed a willingness to negotiate.

- Lord, we know you are able to make Israel's enemies to be at peace with her. We pray for a revelation to come upon her enemies that it is futile to fight the Most High God who defends His nation. Lord, we ask for the borders of Israel to be returned to what You have intended all along.

- "For I will cast out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the Lord thy God thrice in the year." (Exodus 34:24 KJV)

8. Breaking News: Rep. Anthony Weiner admits sending lewd Twitter picture of himself - Washington Post

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) acknowledged Monday that he tweeted the lewd picture that has been at the center of a controversy since it surfaced a week ago, and he said the image was of him. "It was something that I did that was just wrong and I regret it," he said. He apologized and said he is not resigning.

- No shame, and from one of God's chosen people, who doesn't follow his God. May the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob remove him and replace him with a Godly representative. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

- So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted in your hearts contains the power to save your souls. (James 1:21)

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance. (Psalm 33:8-12 NKJV)

Submitting to Islam: White House policies' dangerous trek

Having a cup of coffee at the San Antonio airport, I was observing people go through security. It occurred to me after watching a white grandmother in her early 60's having her very private parts groped in full view of the public, that this is America submitting to Islam. We take off our shoes, belts, give up our belongings and submit to an invasive search every time we want to fly. Why? Because of Islam. This grandmother was visiting her granddaughter who was born 10 weeks premature. She said she has accepted the groping because she wants to fly. She has a prosthetic shoulder and hip. Her husband watched in disgust. This is just the beginning, however, if the White House policies on the Middle East continue.

White House policies on the Middle East are leading this nation down the path of submission to Islam. Rand Corporation researchers have issued a report warning that Iran is eight weeks from having enough enriched uranium to make a nuclear bomb. Iran has been working with China, North Korea, and Russia to achieve this milestone. All the while, the Administration's trusted source at the United Nations, Mohamed El Baradei denied for years that Iran was making the bomb. El Baradei has since bolted to Egypt where he participated in overthrowing the Mubarak government. This White House supported coup was part of its Muslim Brotherhood partnership to usher in "democracy."

Obama proclaimed a new direction in Middle East policy in his May 19 speech "to promote reform across the region, and to support transitions to democracy." Democracy, as we know in these Islamic countries, means the installation of radical Islam. In fact, Fox News reports that the White House has demanded the State Department support the terrorist sponsoring Muslim Brotherhood.

A State Department analyst said, "this administration has been unrelenting about this, making a number of transfers and forced retirements in order to clear away irrational opposition to our new approach." He told Fox News the Brotherhood shares America's concern for human rights and democratic governance.

There are many in America that cannot fathom a US President [or in this case a White House occupier] throwing in with the bad guys. But it has happened. Obama is destabilizing the Middle East by supporting revolution in the name of democratic reform at a time when he is also allowing Iran a free pass on making a nuclear bomb. He has told Israel it must revert to indefensible 1967 borders. The Religious Freedom Coalition reports that [Obama] recently placed two activist Islamists in policy positions at Homeland Security and appointed an activist Islamic with ties to terrorist groups to US Attorney in Michigan. Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." Getting groped at the airport is mild fare compared to what is coming.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

House Rebukes Obama

The House of Representatives delivered a stinging rebuke to ... Obama's foreign policy Friday. The House passed a resolution authored by Speaker John Boehner stating that the president "has failed to provide Congress with a compelling rationale" for the mission in Libya. The resolution demands that Obama submit a report to Congress within two weeks outlining the goals, costs and justification for continued military intervention there.

While Boehner's resolution was non-binding, Obama should take it seriously as 45 Democrats backed it. Moreover, a second resolution cutting off all funding for the Libya mission received 148 votes. It is worth noting that nearly 80% of House members voted to either end the mission or demand a more thorough explanation for why we are engaged in this "kinetic military action." (Gary Bauer)

Happy Shauvot!

(A message from Mike Evans; Jerusalem Prayer Team)

Happy Shauvot from the Jerusalem Prayer Team! The Feast of Weeks, more commonly known to us as Pentecost, comes seven weeks after Easter. It observes the giving of the Torah to Moses on Mt. Sinai. The Jewish people will celebrate with candles, special meals, and a reading of the Ten Commandments. Many will also read the book of Ruth, to mark the death of King David on this date, since Ruth was his great grandmother. It is a wonderful time for us to bless the Chosen People and join in the celebration. . .

The Feast of Shauvot is a celebration of God's eternal devotion to the Jewish people. The promises and covenants that God made regarding the land of Israel have never changed-and never will. This blessed time of year is a reminder to all of us that we can always rely on the Word of God. I ask that you join me today in the celebration and remembrance of what God has done . . . and will do for us. And I'm asking for your help as we work to bless the Chosen People.

Throughout the Moslem world violent demonstrations erupted as protestors spat, shook their fists and screamed the word "nakba" (catastrophe). They demand that Jerusalem be taken from the Jews to be the next Islamic capital. While the enemies of the Jewish people cursed them, you still have the opportunity to bless the Children of Israel. "I will bless them that bless thee and curse him that curses thee." (Genesis 12:3)

Your support of the Jerusalem Prayer Team makes it possible for us to continue to rally Believers to stand with Israel, to speak out to leaders of our nation and the world in defense of Israel, and to meet urgent humanitarian needs of the Jewish people. Thank you so much for being part of the team.

Modeh ani l'faneykha, melekh chai vekayam; rabbah emunatekha.

I thank you living and eternal King; great is your faithfulness.

Your ambassador to Jerusalem,
Dr. Michael Evans

A Shavuot Song!

"Stay Up All Night"

It is the tradition on the night before Shavuot to stay up all night.

For those who wish to celebrate this joyous holiday with our Jewish friends, perhaps this clever little song will help you do just that!

Texas Governor Rick Perry Declares A Day of Prayer and Fasting for Our Nation

August 6, 2011
Houston, Texas

In 1775, the Continental Congress asked the colonies to join in prayer, seeking wisdom as they faced the responsibility and opportunity of building a new nation. As leaders of that young nation assembled in 1787 to craft a Constitution, Benjamin Franklin implored the framers to pray for guidance, famously declaring, "The longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth: that God governs in the affairs of men." Decades later, during a time of national turmoil, President John Adams declared "a day of solemn humiliation, fasting and prayer," asking citizens of all faiths to pray for America's protection from danger. Later, as civil war tore our young country apart, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a day of national fasting and prayer, saying "It behooves us . . . to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray to the God that made us." During World War II, with our troops locked in battle on the beaches of France, President Franklin D. Roosevelt led the nation in prayer, "As we rise to each new day, and again when each day is spent, let words of prayer be on our lips, invoking Thy help to our efforts."

Given the trials that have beset our country and world ― from the global economic downturn to natural disasters, the lingering danger of terrorism and wars that endanger our troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and theaters of conflict around the globe, and the decline of our culture in the context of the demise of families ― it seems imperative that the people of our nation should once again join together for a solemn day of prayer and fasting on behalf of our troubled nation.

In times of trouble, even those who have been granted power by the people must turn to God in humility for wisdom, mercy and direction. In the spirit of the Book of Joel, Chapter 2, Verses 15-16, I urge a solemn gathering of prayer and fasting. As those verses admonish: "15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly . . . 16 Gather the people, consecrate the assembly . . . " As Jesus prayed publicly for the benefit of others in John 11:41-42, so should we express our faith in this way.

Therefore, I invite my fellow Texans to join me on August 6 at Reliant Stadium in Houston, as we pray for unity and righteousness - for this great state, this great nation and all mankind. I urge Americans of faith to pray on that day for the healing of our country, the rebuilding of our communities and the restoration of enduring values as our guiding force.

Therefore, I, Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, do hereby proclaim August 6, 2011, to be
A Day of Prayer and Fasting for Our Nation
in Texas, and urge the appropriate recognition whereof.

In official recognition whereof,
I hereby affix my signature this the
23rd day of May, 2011.

PLEASE NOTE:

Governor Rick Perry has invited all US governors as well as many other national Christian and political leaders. People of all ages, races, backgrounds and Christian denominations will be in attendance to proclaim Jesus as Savior and pray for America.
