The Daily Brief - Friday, March 16, 2012

"I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below . . . " (Acts 2:19a)

The Daily Brief

1. Cost of living soars - under Obama - Bloomberg

The cost of living in the U.S. rose in February by the most in 10 months, reflecting a jump in gasoline that failed to spread to other goods and services. The consumer-price index climbed 0.4 percent, matching the median forecast of economists surveyed by Bloomberg News, after increasing 0.2 percent the prior month. The biggest jump in gasoline in more than a year accounted for about 80 percent of the increase in prices last month, leaving households with less money to spend on other goods and services. Federal Reserve policy makers say the advance in fuel costs will be temporary, and most see little risk inflation will flare out of control as unemployment exceeds 8 percent.

- Father, we are so grateful for Your provision - especially during these economic times when prices keep rising - and many find themselves unemployed, or "under-employed". We ask that as the financial pressure increases, many would turn from dependence on the federal government, to dependence on You. May they cry out to You in their distress, and find You there to help them, love them, and provide for them as Your children. Amen.

- "O our God, will You not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that comes against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon You." (2 Chronicles 20:12)

2. Government data undercut Obama's energy claims - Washington Times

Countering Obama's claim that he's doing everything he can to increase domestic oil production, a top House Republican Thursday released data from the Energy Department showing that fossil fuel production on federal lands has fallen since Mr. Obama took office.

- Lord, we know You love truth, and it's the truth that sets us free. We ask - especially during this election year - that the truth will repeatedly come to light, where all can see what goes on behind closed doors. Expose the works of darkness, so all can see, and vote accordingly.

- "All who swear by God will glory in Him, while the mouths of liars will be silenced." (Psalm 63:11)

3. CBO: Obamacare to cost $1.76 trillion over 10 yrs - Washington Examiner

Obama's national health care law will cost $1.76 trillion over a decade, according to a new projection released today by the Congressional Budget Office, rather than the $940 billion forecast when it was signed into law.

- Again Lord, we thank You for bringing this fact to light. We ask that the people of this nation will recognize these "cover-ups" and will demand representation in these decisions. At a time when the majority of Americans do not want federally mandated healthcare, we ask that the people will enforce accountability of our elected leaders, and vote for truth, justice, and integrity this November. Amen.

- " When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan." (Proverbs 29:2)

4. Health Insurance Costs to Top Household Income by 2033, Report Says - WND

The average cost of health insurance for American families will surpass average household income by 2033, according to a new report by the Annals of Family Medicine."If health insurance premiums and national wages continue to grow at recent rates and the U.S. health insurance makes no major structural changes, the average cost of a family health insurance premium will equal 50 percent of the household income by the year 2021, and surpass the average household income by the year 2033," the report finds.

The passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) in 2010, also known as Obamacare, was meant to reduce the numbers of uninsured and provide affordable health insurance to all Americans.

However, as the PPACA was being passed, America experienced a major recession resulting in "5 million Americans" losing their "employee-based health insurance," making the "the number of persons without health insurance in the United States rise to a historic high of 50.7 million people" between 2007-2009, according to the report."The tipping point may come when patients and physicians realize that we cannot provide all possible services to all people, no matter how rare the benefit or expensive the service."

- Abba, we are appalled by these figures. We know from our own household budgets that we cannot spend more than we earn. We also know we cannot start an expensive project unless we are first assured we will have the finances to complete it. We ask You to give this "revelation" to our members of Congress and our President, who seem intent on burying our children and grandchildren with debt they cannot pay. We ask that Your men and women of integrity and fiscal responsibility, will be elected this Fall! Hear our cry, O Lord. Amen.

- "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?" (Luke 14:28)

"Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth. My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever" (Psalm 73:25-26)

Israel News Update

"Why are the nations in an uproar, and the peoples devising a vain thing? The Kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers take their stand against the Lord and His Anointed, saying, let us tear their fetters apart and cast away their cords from us. He who sits in the heavens laughs, the Lord scoffs at them." (Psalm 2: 1-4)

Dear Friends:

Finally, after Israel has begged and pleaded for the nations of the world to cut off Iran from the Global Financial System, today it happened! Iran has been expelled from the SWIFT electronic money transfer system, so it will be severely restricted in receiving payments for its oil sales on the world markets. Although, it may be too little too late, as events are beginning to escalate dramatically with over 200 rockets fired this past week into many of Israel's major cities located in southern Israel.

After five days of non-stop missile fire on a dozen towns and villages, Israel Thursday night, March 15, gave Egypt and Hamas two days to halt the shooting or else the Israeli Defense Forces would go into action against Gaza. If Hezbollah in Lebanon, another surrogate of Iran, decides to open a second front against Israel by launching rockets into Israel's northern cities, then the Psalm 83 - Isaiah 17 War could quickly become a reality. Iran is doing everything possible to stop Israel from launching an attack against them, and the best way to do it is to force Israel to engage in a ground war on two fronts, Lebanon and Gaza.

Watch and pray the Lord God will remember His eternal covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and their descendants. Pray He will arise and defend His eternal covenant with His people against their enemies, so that all will know there is a God in Israel, and He is God, and there is no other God in Heaven nor in the earth, and Yeshua is His Son! And to them every knee will bend and every tongue give homage, declaring that Yeshua is Lord!

ROCKET ATTACKS FORCE 500,000 ISRAELIS INTO BOMB SHELTERS

Worst violence in 6 months.

by Joel C. Rosenberg

(Washington, DC, March 12, 2012) -- Here are the latest developments the Palestinian rocket offensive against Israel, in what is being described as the worst violence on Israel's southern border in six months:

* More than 150 rockets and missiles have been fired from Gaza at southern Israel in the last 3 days.

* On Sunday alone, about 50 rockets were fired at Israel.

* Israeli schools in the south have been closed, keeping more than 200,000 school children at home.

* The Israeli Air Force has been bombing Hamas rocket launchers and weapons warehouses, and has eliminated four top terror leaders.

* CNN reports that "eight Israelis have been wounded and 500,000 have been forced into shelters."

* CNN reports that among the Palestinians in Gaza, "at least 21 people have been killed in strikes since Friday, while at least 75 people have been wounded."

* The good news is that "the Iron Dome system has intercepted 90 percent of missile attacks on urban centers during the latest rocket bombardment from Gaza," reports Israeli channel 7.
* PRAYER REQUESTS from Joel Rosenberg:

Please pray for the Lord to show His mercy and grace to the innocent civilians caught in the crossfire on both sides of the borders. Please pray for the terrorists to stop attacking Israel. Please pray for the Lord to comfort the grieving and heal the injured. Please pray for the believers to know how best to show God's love to those who are suffering. And please pray for Prime Minister Netanyahu and his advisors, that they would be like the sons of Issachar, "men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do." (I Chronicles 12:32).

Oil Production on Federal Lands Declined Under Obama

Obama has continuously insisted that oil production has increased under his stewardship. He has repeated this untruth in every speech across the country. Well, the U.S. Energy Information Administration has published the data of production from all fossil fuels on federal lands over the past decade. Take a look at the chart and you will see a precipitous drop corresponding with Obama's tenure in office. (Read more)

Obama: America's Most Biblically-Hostile Occupier of the White House

Written by David Barton; Wallbuilders

When one observes Obama's unwillingness to accommodate America's four-century long religious conscience protection through his attempts to require Catholics to go against their own doctrines and beliefs, one is tempted to say that he is anti-Catholic. But that characterization would not be correct. Although he has recently singled out Catholics, he has equally targeted traditional Protestant beliefs over the past four years. So since he has attacked Catholics and Protestants, one is tempted to say that he is anti-Christian. But that, too, would be inaccurate. He has been equally disrespectful in his appalling treatment of religious Jews in general and Israel in particular. So perhaps the most accurate description of his antipathy toward Catholics, Protestants, religious Jews, and the Jewish nation would be to characterize him as anti-Biblical. And then when his hostility toward Biblical people of faith is contrasted with his preferential treatment of Muslims and Muslim nations, it further strengthens the accuracy of the anti-Biblical descriptor. In fact, there have been numerous clearly documented times when his pro-Islam positions have been the cause of his anti-Biblical actions.

Listed below in chronological order are:

(1) numerous records of his attacks on Biblical persons or organizations;
(2) examples of the hostility toward Biblical faith that have become evident in the past three years in the Obama-led military;
(3) a listing of his open attacks on Biblical values; and finally
(4) a listing of numerous incidents of his preferential deference for Islam's activities and positions, including letting his Islamic advisors guide and influence his hostility toward people of Biblical faith.

Divorce Hurts Economy

New Paper Shows Divorce Hurts U.S. Economic Growth

Released by the Family Research Council

March 16, 2012

Research Shows Divorce Removes A Fourth of Head-of-Household Productivity Growth

Today the Marriage and Religion Research Institute (MARRI), a project of the Family Research Council (FRC), released a new paper looking at a major player in macroeconomic growth - intact marriage. Titled, "The Divorce Revolution Perpetually Reduces U.S. Economic Growth: Divorce Removes a Fourth of Head-of-Household Productivity Growth," the paper shows divorce causes men to become less productive. Thus, acculturated divorce is undermining America's prospects for recovery and prosperity. The paper is authored by MARRI Senior Fellow Henry Potrykus, Ph.D., and MARRI Director Patrick Fagan, Ph.D.
Of the paper, Dr. Potrykus said:

"Marriage causes economic growth. Married men experience greater rates of income increase than single men, and the rate of income increase for a newly divorced man drops almost to that of his always-single counterparts through the divorce. Because of this, the explosion of divorce in this country has resulted in a loss in productivity growth. The divorce revolution has undermined growth in the U.S. economy.

"Besides population effects originating in the 1960s and 1970s, there are no other consequences of policy change that have had a greater effect in slowing economic growth than the divorce revolution."

20 Years Ago Tomorrow

March 17th is the Anniversary of the Bombing of the Embassy of Israel in Buenos Aires

Dear Friends:

Tomorrow, March 17th, we will mark the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attack at the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires. 29 people were killed and another 242 were wounded in the bombing which was executed by Iranian-backed Hezbolla operatives. Sadly, the threat of such terrorist attacks against Israelis - as witnessed recently in Bangkok and New Dehli - continues to this day.

In a speech marking the anniversary this week, Foreign Minister Lieberman stated: "Here and now I want to announce that the State of Israel, with the help of God, will begin constructing a new Embassy in Buenos Aires... to honor and preserve the victims' memory." It will serve as an sign that terrorists "will not make us budge nor will they scare us."

Please join us remembering the victims of this horrific attack through your various channels.

FBI Issues Homeland Warning

ABC News is reporting that the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security issued an "awareness bulletin" to local law enforcement agencies warning them to be prepared for possible attacks from HVEs -- homegrown violent extremists. The FBI is concerned that the HVEs may launch reprisal attacks against Americans and U.S. military personnel in response to the killings of Afghan civilians last weekend by an American soldier. Here's an excerpt:

"The FBI and DHS [Department of Homeland Security] are concerned that this event could contribute to the radicalization or mobilization of homegrown violent extremists [HVEs] in the homeland, particularly against U.S.-based military targets . . . [the killings] will likely be incorporated into violent extremist propaganda and could contribute to an individual's radicalization to violence."

The FBI was wise to issue the warning. But it once again underscores the reality of the enemy we are confronting. The FBI is not worried about radicalized Lutherans or Mormon extremists. It is worried about radical Muslims.

Yet when Rep. Peter King (R-NY) holds hearings about the dangers of radicalization within the Muslim community, the left goes nuts. When the New York Police Department conducts surveillance of mosques, the ACLU threatens to sue. But it is impossible to fight and win a war if you refuse to acknowledge who the enemy is. The Good News Corner:

Lots of Good News from the Congressional Prayer Caucus Foundation!

Dear Sara,

With your help we have been able to push back the tide of anti-God efforts. Our prayer partners and contributors have helped create an unprecedented nationwide network of elected leaders and citizens, committed to realigning America with the Judeo-Christian principles of liberty.

Summary of Accomplishments:

* Formation of the strategic American Prayer Caucus Network, the largest and most influential network of Christian government leaders in the nation, networking members of the Congressional Prayer Caucus with hundreds of like-minded members of state and local Legislative Prayer Caucuses in action-oriented forums.

* 10 State Prayer Caucuses formed (Virginia, North Carolina, Mississippi, Colorado, Oklahoma, Maine, Kentucky, Florida, Michigan and Missouri) with 9 States in process.

* Citizens joined hundreds of legislators, governors, lieutenant governors and attorneys general at multiple Call To Prayer events, which were hosted and facilitated by elected leaders proclaiming their commitment to pray and protect your right to believe in God.

* The placement of State Directors in States to support Prayer Caucuses and facilitate the grassroots strategy to connect government leaders with Christian leaders to form a prayer and communication network positioned for action.

* Support to over 100 current members of the Congressional Prayer Caucus.

* The launch of the national In God We Trust; Put It UP! Campaign catalyzed by the successful passage of Congressional Resolution 13 affirming the official motto of the United States to be "In God We Trust" and encouraging its public display in schools and government buildings. CPCF is equipping citizens to display In God We Trust across America. www.InGodWeTrustMotto.us

* A growing Internet and social media presence.

* Educational Materials created to mount a visual and written campaign in simple and relevant terms, designed to reverse the lies and misinformation that are eroding principles of liberty.

* The establishment and ongoing support of hundreds of 219 prayer groups committed to praying for America.

This year alone Legislative Prayer Caucus members have led bi-partisan initiatives to recognize the influence of faith in our nation's history; protect public prayer; support faith-based organizations and religious student groups; preserve religious freedom for our service members; and confront attempts to remove God from the public square.

One notable victory was won In November when Congress, by a historic overwhelming vote of 396-9, passed Resolution 13, officially reaffirming the national motto of the United States to be "IN GOD WE TRUST". Strategically included in the resolution was the securing of the right for every citizen, school, business and public building to display the national motto prominently, without fear of suit or reprisal by anti-God lobbyists!

The national campaign "in God We Trust - Put It UP!" has now been launched. It is designed to alert and educate citizens and legislators of our cherished right to display our national motto. You can order your "In God We Trust" displays and campaign materials here.

We cannot and must not forget that "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." Though some will reject our Lord and His rightful place in our hearts and in our nation, we must not! Thank you for standing up with us and fighting for the future of America.
With Utmost Gratitude,

Lea Carawan
