The Daily Brief

1. BREAKING - Rev. David Wilkerson Killed in TX Car Crash - CBN News

Rev. David Wilkerson, founding pastor of Times Square Church in New York City and author of the well-known book The Cross and the Switchblade, was killed Wednesday in a car accident, according to a source close to CBN News. He was 79.

Wilkerson's wife Gwen was also involved in the crash and rushed to the hospital, along with the other driver.

Wilkerson posted a blog dated April 27 -- the day of his death. In the post, titled "When All Means Fail," he encouraged those facing difficulty to "hold fast" and stand strong in faith.

"To those going through the valley and shadow of death, hear this word: Weeping will last through some dark, awful nights, and in that darkness you will soon hear the Father whisper, "I am with you,'" Wilkerson wrote. "Beloved, God has never failed to act but in goodness and love. When all means fail-his love prevails. Hold fast to your faith. Stand fast in his Word. There is no other hope in this world."

Read all of Wilkerson's final blog here.

- Tonight we mourn with those who mourn at the news of the sudden passing of this mighty man of God. Rev. David Wilkerson is one who has touched generations of souls with the convicting power of Jesus Christ, and for our need to repent and to find forgiveness at the Cross. Our comfort is that we know where Rev. Wilkerson abides tonight, and that the peace of God can and will comfort those who grieve. Thank the Lord for the life of Reverend David Wilkerson. Amen.

- "Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies . . ." (John 11:25)

2. White House Releases Copy of Long Form of Obama's Birth Certificate From Hawaii - NewsMax

The White House has released the long form of President Barack Obama's birth certificate in response to festering questions about whether he was born in the United States.

- God, the Certificate of Live Birth of Barack Hussein Obama II that has been produced appears to have been altered and fails to be true and correct. We need your help, Lord, to root out the lies and forgeries and bring to light the absolute true Birth Certificate so that we do not suffer under the outrageous acts of a man leading our country without having the highest credentials necessary to lead America.

Take us out of the hands of an impostor who at this point has never proven his eligibility to hold the office of president. God, set our nation upright to stand on solid footing and be assured that we are guided by a God-fearing, Bible-believing man or woman of God. Block the way for him to continue in this office as president until it has been proven by a pristine Birth Certificate that he is an honest and true citizen of the United States of America. In Jesus Name.

- "Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and show us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth." (Isaiah 48:9)

3. White House Blasts Franklin Graham for Birther Comment - NewsMax

The White House angrily lashed out Monday against renowned evangelical leader the Rev. Franklin Graham for questioning President Obama's birthplace.

- God, send out Your powerful angels to surround Franklin Graham and protect him from the viscious words coming from some of those in the White House. Franklin Graham is a man of God and woe be to the man who moves against him. Watch out. God is with this man and He will fight for him. He spoke the truth. In Jesus' Name.

- "You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears; you do always resist the Holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do you. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain them which showed before of the coming of the Just One Jesus Christ: of whom you have been now the betrayers and murderers." (Acts 7:51-52)

4. Southern Storms Cut Deadly Path - Fox News

At Least 54 Dead as Storms Pound South for Second Day

A wave of severe storms laced with tornadoes strafed the South on Wednesday, killing at least 54 people in four states and splintering buildings across swaths of an Alabama university town. At this writing, this powerful, tornadic system is bearing down on Atlanta, Georgia.

- God, we speak by the power vested in us and do command these storms and tornadoes to go back up into the sky for they are rendered powerless by the mighty hand of God. No destruction of life or property will take place, for the mercy of the Lord has gone forth. In Jesus' Name.

- "I will praise You, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto You among the nations. For Your mercy is great unto the heavens, and Your truth unto the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens: let Your glory be above all the earth." (Psalm 57:9-11)

5. Levees ready to burst as rain pounds central US - OneNewsNow

Relentless, driving rain is pounding southern Missouri, leaving levees ready to burst and sending residents to higher ground -- and the rain isn't expected to stop for days.

- "Father, we ask for mercy during this time and trust You to send forth only the needed rain, not destructive rain. Hold these levees solid that they not break. Move upon the hearts of the people to cry out to God for help. He will always answer your cries for He is a loving God over all. In Jesus' Name.

- "By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His Name." (Hebrews 13:15)

As Texas continues to deal with one of the worst wildfire situations in its history, a return of sizzling heat, gusty winds and bone-dry conditions is renewing an extreme threat for the spread and development of new fires.

- God, move among the people of this land and draw them by the Holy Spirit to seek the Lord and lean upon Him for divine intervention at this time of dire need. Save souls among this chaos that men, women and children will find Jesus as the one true Savior of their souls. In Jesus Name.

- "He that has the Son, has life; and he that has not the Son of God has not life." (I John 5:12)

7. China and US plan talks to solve currency issues - BBC

China and the US will hold economic talks next month as the two countries work towards reaching a common ground on currency policy.

- God, this issue is bigger than life and mere men have not the overall conception of what they are dealing with here. So we call on the God of heaven to come forth with great power and intervene for the United States and China regarding this issue. Save America. Save the righteous in America and China and cause those who follow a wicked agenda to fall flat. We pray God will encircle America with His great and mighty arms and save us. In Jesus Name.

- "And the people came to the house of God, and abode there till even before God, and lifted up their voices, and wept sore." (Judges 21:2)

8. NATO kill top Al-Qaeda leader in Afghanistan - AFP

NATO troops in Afghanistan said they had killed a Saudi described as an "Al-Qaeda senior leader" and their number two most-wanted insurgent in the country.

- Father God, we ask that you surround all the remaining members of these terrorist groups with Your Holy Spirit and uncover their sin before their eyes, that they now see the wickedness that had been hidden from them and they turn their hearts to the Lord by repenting and asking for forgiveness that their souls be saved. In Jesus Name.

- "Again he said, Therefore hear the Word of the Lord; I saw the Lord sitting upon His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right hand and on His left." (II Chronicles 18:18)

We ask that You take command of this evil that has encompassed Syria and deal with them regarding repentance and turning to the Lord God of heaven for salvation of their souls and turning from this life of wickedness. Do these people even comprehend how great and mighty God is? In Jesus Name.

- "Fear ye not Me? says the Lord; will you not tremble at My presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?" (Jeremiah 5:22)

The Daily Jot

A nation in despair: Who is to blame?

When the presidential candidate from Illinois said he wanted to remake America, a slight majority of Americans thought it was a good idea. And they voted him into office. Since then, gasoline prices have doubled; the housing market has crashed; the automobile industry has sucked billions out of the taxpayer's treasury; the Middle East has been destabilized in favor of terrorism; our boys are being killed at record numbers in Afghanistan; we have entered a war in Libya in league with the very terrorists we are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan; the national debt and deficit have soared to record levels; the US Dollar is being replaced as the world's reserve currency; food prices have risen over 35%; and much more.

This government is spending our money, our children's money and their children's money into oblivion. This government is drunk on social programs to the point that most are either employed by it or are receiving from it. This government is promoting abortion at the expense of life; homosexuality at the expense of marriage; fiscal disaster at the expense of fiscal responsibility. Some are angry at Congress; others at the White House. Some just throw up their hands and say they can do nothing about it. Some say its God's judgment. Some want revolution. Some say the Church should not participate in government. Some say Christians should not be involved in government. Some are just so frustrated, they don't know what to do.

You might say: I write my congressman; I sign petitions; I make phone calls. You do well. But this is not about politics. This is about the spiritual condition of the hearts of our countrymen. As Christians, we are called to the Great Commission. If we as Christians were doing what we were commanded to do--rather than being inwardly focused on self indulgent doctrines of man--this nation would not have abortion, nor would it exalt homosexuality, nor would it covet our money and property because the majority would know Christ and be disciples in the truest of ways. Just as the Liberty of Christ requires personal responsibility, civic responsibility is required in a representative government. Our passion for Christ is a reflection of this nation.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!
