1. Russia says it provided Syria with 24 advanced S-300 launchers for free - Times of Israel

Russia provided the advanced S-300 air defense system to Syria's military free of charge, transferring three battalions with eight launchers each to the Assad regime, Russia's state news agency TASS reported Monday.

"On October 1, three battalion sets of S-300PM systems of eight launchers each were delivered to Syria," a military source told the agency. "These systems were previously deployed at one of the Russian aerospace forces' regiments which now uses the S-400 Triumf systems. The S-300 systems underwent capital repairs at Russian defense enterprises, are in good condition and are capable of performing combat tasks," he said.

The source added that the systems were provided free of charge, along with 100 surface-to-air guided missiles for each battalion, 300 in all.

2. Kahlon says he'll bring down government if Netanyahu indicted - Times of Israel

Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon on Tuesday said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cannot continue to lead Israel if he is charged in a series of corruption probes, as talk of early elections gathered pace. "A prime minister under indictment and after a hearing cannot function," Kahlon said in an interview with Hadashot TV news.

Kahlon, a former member of Netanyahu's Likud party who now heads the center-right Kulanu, said in March he would pull out of the coalition if the premier is indicted. Such a move would lead to the government's collapse and likely presage early elections.

3. Against Abbas' wishes, 9,000 gallons of fuel enter Gaza from Israel - Israel Hayom

Two trucks carrying some 35,000 liters (9,200 gallons) of fuel entered the Gaza Strip from the Kerem Shalom border crossing on Tuesday after Qatar, which paid Israel for the transfer, deposited a check through the United Nations. They were escorted by U.N. vehicles.

Egyptian and Palestinian officials told Israel Hayom that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas had spared no effort, until the last minute to block the transfer of fuel to the coastal enclave.

A senior Palestinian official told Israel Hayom that Abbas had spoken with U.N. Middle East envoy Nikolay Mladenov and accused him of helping to bypass Palestinian leadership. Abbas had also warned he would instruct the Palestinian Finance Ministry not to transfer the salaries of those workers with UNRWA, the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees, set to receive the tankers in Gaza.

4. 'My heart was pounding, my hands shook' - Israel National News

Archaeologist Danit Levy of the Israel Antiquities Authority told Arutz Sheva about the moments when she discovered the stone inscription from the Second Temple period (1st century BCE) which notes Jerusalem's name in Hebrew letters in full spelling, as it is written today.

"Towards the end of the working day I was making notes, one of the diggers comes to me and says, 'Come now with a camera, I found something ancient. We found graffiti,'" Levy said.

"I thought I would see red spray and a filthy area. I got to the column and my heart began to pound and almost burst, and everyone around me seemed to hear it. I wanted to take pictures, I took out the cell phone and my hands shook."

"It is rare to find an inscription, it is rare to find an inscription in Hebrew and it is rare to find the word Jerusalem in full spelling," she emphasized.

2. Nikki Haley Resigns as United Nations Ambassador - FreeBeacon

Nikki Haley has resigned as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations in a surprising move that will stir speculation about the popular Republican's future. Haley offered her resignation to President Donald Trump after a widely praised tenure at the U.N. marked by strong defense of Israel, a robust criticism of Russia's malfeasances, and leadership of the global sanctions regime against North Korea.

The reasoning behind her resignation is not yet known. Haley enjoys strong support among Republicans and has long been rumored to harbor future presidential ambitions. Haley, the former governor of South Carolina. The New York Times noted Trump's nomination of her to the U.N. post was an olive branch of sorts to the Republican establishment after the bruising 2016 cycle.

Haley told reporters in the Oval Office she would leave at the end of the year. Trump praised her for doing a "fantastic job". (Read more)

- Father, thank You for using Nikki Haley to bring needed change to the United Nations. Reward her for her courage and unwavering support of Israel.

- Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future. She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. (Proverbs 31:25-26)

3. Anger Recedes as Normalcy, Good Humor Mark Kavanaugh's First Day on Supreme Court - Daily Signal

Justice Brett Kavanaugh appeared at oral arguments for the first time Tuesday, where the bitterness attending his confirmation appeared to break. Throughout his first sitting, Kavanaugh projected command and interacted warmly with his new colleagues, several of whom were especially lighthearted during the arguments.

"We wish you a long and happy career in our common calling," Chief Justice John Roberts told Kavanaugh at the beginning of Tuesday's arguments, invoking the construction he often uses when publicly offering well wishes to colleagues. Kavanaugh's parents, his wife Ashley, and their children were also present in the courtroom, as was his predecessor, Justice Anthony Kennedy.

The scenes at the high court on Saturday and Tuesday were a study in contrasts. Fear that lingering anger would erupt during Tuesday's proceedings was palpable, particularly as a court officer delivered the official admonition to remain seated and silent with unusual forcefulness. A smattering of protesters, some of whom wore handmaid costumes, demonstrated in front of the court's marble plaza in the morning. But as arguments began, a genial and orderly mood prevailed. (Read more)

- Father, we ask You to encourage the Kavanaugh family with Your Spirit. We pray for their protection and an end to the threats and intimidation directed towards their family.

- For I have heard the slander of many, terror is on every side; while they took counsel together against me, they schemed to take away my life. But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord, I say, "You are my God." (Psalm 31:13-14)

4. Justice Kavanaugh could have big impact early on Supreme Court - Washington Times

Court watchers expect President Trump's newest justice to be more conservative than his predecessor, particularly in areas concerning presidential powers and criminal law, based on his record on the federal appeals court in Washington, D.C., where he has heard cases for the past 12 years.

"What is interesting is that this docket seems almost tailored for Kavanaugh to have a significant impact early," said Jonathan Turley, a law professor at George Washington University. "This docket is like having a left-handed pitcher throw to a righty batter, it is maximizing the likelihood that Kavanaugh's vote will be determinative."

Tuesday's cases deal with felons who were subsequently convicted on firearms charges. They are challenging what constitutes a burglary as a violent felony within the language of the statutes. Though those cases could end up with somewhat narrow rulings, Wednesday's case could have a more significant impact in the area of immigration. It concerns whether the Trump administration can withhold bond hearings and initiate deportation for immigrants who have lived illegally in the U.S. for a long time but were convicted of relatively minor offenses. (Read more)

- Father, we pray You will guide all the Justices of the Supreme Court to decide these cases with wisdom and integrity to the law.

- To do righteousness and justice is desired by the Lord more than sacrifice.
(Proverbs 21:3)

5. The Left is promising to abuse power if they win; voters should take them seriously - Washington Examiner

In 2005, the Supreme Court issued its landmark decision in Kelo v. New London, diminishing Americans' property rights. The ruling said that governments can seize your home through eminent domain, even if their intention is merely to hand the land over to private developers.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., responded, "It is a decision of the Supreme Court," she said, emphasizing its finality. "If Congress wants to change it, it will require legislation of a level of a constitutional amendment. So this is almost as if God has spoken."

Today, the Left is in a panic because they fear that God's voice (and perhaps even his wrath) are about to turn against them. So before the newly reinforced, John Roberts-led court has heard a case or issued a single ruling, they are already doing everything in their power to delegitimize the institution they once looked upon as almost God.

The death threats and vile messages that progressive activists have aimed at Kavanaugh and his family, as well as at Republican senators' offices and homes and families, is a clear statement of who they are, and why the nation will suffer if they are ever returned to power. (Read more)

- Father, we pray the Angels of Heaven will be dispatched to every election across the United States, reminding Your servants to pray and vote. We pray You will overthrow those who desire political office for power and personal gain.

"But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve; but as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." (Joshua 24:15, excerpt)

6. Trump: 'Democrats are going to end up voting Republican' in midterms - Washington Times

President Trump said Monday that Democrats' smearing of Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh, and their calls for his impeachment, will prompt many disgusted Democratic voters to support Republican candidates in the mid-term elections. Before departing the White House for Florida to speak Monday at the annual convention of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Mr. Trump argued that the rival party will end up alienating large chunks of its base before the key November elections.

"I think a lot of Democrats are going to vote Republican," Mr. Trump told reporters at the White House. "The main base of the Democrats have shifted so far left that we'll end up being Venezuela. I think a lot of Democrats are going to be voting Republican on Nov. 6."

"Now they're thinking about impeaching a brilliant jurist, a man that did nothing wrong, a man that was caught up in a hoax that was set up by the Democrats, using the Democrats' lawyers. I think it's an insult to the American public." (Read more)

- Father, we pray You will break through the media's political distortions and help Democrats of good will help the Republican party restore our nation.

- I applied my heart to know, to search and seek out wisdom and the reason of things, to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness. (Ecclesiastes 7:25)

7. Mike Pompeo Blasts Senate Democrats for Holding Up 65 Trump State Department Nominees - Breitbart

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blasted Senate Democrats on Wednesday for refusing to confirm more than 65 of President Donald Trump's nominees for senior positions at the State Department. "That's over a quarter of all the senior level confirmable positions that the United States Department of State is tasked with using to achieve its diplomatic outcomes," he said at a press conference. "And I want every single American to know that what Sen. Menendez and members of the Senate are doing to hold back American diplomacy rests squarely on their shoulders."

Pompeo said during his confirmation hearing that Menendez had told him that "the problem is that we have an emaciated State Department under this administration." "These candidates are quality candidates. They are not sitting on the Senate floor because of objections with respect to their quality or professionalism or their excellence and their ability to deliver American foreign policy."

Pompeo said as a former member of Congress, he appreciates the Senate's advise and consent role, their duty to conduct oversight, and understands the need to be "fair and honest brokers. There are real, direct impacts of not having these people confirmed, and I implore the United States Senate to take these quality, talented people and allow them to do what it is they have agreed to do on behalf of the United States." (Read more)

- Father, we pray these diplomats will receive a quick hearing and be voted on as a block through the Senate.

- For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. (1 Samuel 15:23a)

8. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy Introducing Bill to Fully Fund Border Wall, Making Midterm Immigration Referendum - Breitbart

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy will introduce a bill this week that will fully fund President Donald Trump's planned wall along the U.S. border with Mexico, thereby setting the midterm elections up as a referendum on immigration policy, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.

Outgoing Speaker Paul Ryan hinted at a post-election border wall funding fight on Monday. "We intend on having a full-fledged discussion on how to complete our mission to secure the border, and yes, we will have a fight about this," Ryan said of the wall fight that looms at a news conference on Monday.

"For decades, America's inability to secure our borders and stop illegal immigration has encouraged millions to undertake a dangerous journey to come here in violation of our laws and created a huge loophole to the legal channels to the immigration process where America welcomes immigrants to our country," McCarthy said in a statement to Breitbart News.

"President Trump's election was a wakeup call to Washington. The American people want us to build the wall and enforce the law. Maintaining strong borders is one of the basic responsibilities of any nation. For too long, America has failed in this responsibility." (Read more)

- Father, we pray this bill will receive a vote and reveal the true motives of Congressmen to resolve our immigration problems.

- As in water face reflects face, so a man's heart reveals the man. (Proverbs 27:19)

9. Chinese stocks fall almost 5% in market bloodbath as investors digest a week of bad news in a single day - ThisIsInsider.com

Chinese stocks took a hammering Monday as traders returned to work after a weeklong holiday in the world's second-largest economy. Losses on major indexes in mainland China were as high as 4.8% in a major market rout, with the China A50, which includes major companies from both the Shenzhen and Shanghai indexes, as the biggest loser. The Shanghai Composite lost 3.7% of its value, while the Shenzhen Composite was down just over 4% at the close of the day's trading.

The reasons behind the crash are numerous but include Chinese investors' catching up to their Asian counterparts after a week of losses in Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea. The main driver, however, appears to be a failure from markets to believe that fresh stimulus from China's central bank, the People's Bank of China, will help prevent US President Trump's trade war from causing an economic slowdown in China. The PBOC cut its required reserve ratio for Chinese banks by 1% over the weekend.

"Chinese investors were primarily reacting to a week's worth of news and data, and they have a lot to digest, including the prospect of a slowing and maturing economy and a bubbling trade dispute with the United States," Fiona Cincotta, a senior market analyst at City Index, said in an email. (Read more)

- Father, we pray this bad economic news will bring China to the negotiating table with the United States.

- He sent out His arrows and scattered the foe, lightnings in abundance, and He vanquished them. (Psalm 18:14)

10. Pakistan's Supreme Court Reserves Judgment in Asia Bibi's Final Appeal -Persecustion.org

International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that the final appeal for Asia Bibi, a Christian woman sentenced to death for allegedly committing blasphemy against the prophet Muhammad, was heard by Pakistan's Supreme Court earlier today, October 8. According to sources reached by ICC, the three-judge bench, led by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, and Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel, have already reserved their decision regarding Bibi's death sentence.

"I'm very hopeful for Asia's release and acquittal," Sajid Christopher, President of Human Friends Organization, told ICC. "[Bibi's lawyer], Advocate Saif-Ul-Malook, prepared very well. He pointed out all the contradictions in the FIR and witness statements. I am very confident that Asia is innocent."

Bibi has been on death row since her conviction and death sentence were announced by the Sessions Court in District Nankana, Punjab in 2010. The blasphemy accusation against Bibi is based on flimsy evidence from a dispute that took place in June 2009 between Bibi and a group of Muslim women with whom she had been harvesting berries in Sheikhupura. The Muslim women became angry with Bibi when she, a Christian whom they considered unclean, drank water from the same water bowl as the Muslim women.

ICC's Regional Manager, William Stark, said, "It is ICC's hope that, with this decision, the Supreme Court will lay a foundation for reforming Pakistan's notorious blasphemy laws and signal to both Pakistan and the world that justice will prevail over extremism, even when a religious minority is accused of blasphemy." (Read more)

- Father, we ask for the release of Asia Bibi. We pray her life and health will be restored as a testimony to the Pakistani people.

- Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. (Psalm 71:20)

Doing right in the face of evil

Romans 12:29 says, "Be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good." If you are looking for a definition of evil, it doesn't take much Bible study to figure out what is evil. Trouble is, in this day and age, evil is often considered good and good considered evil. Nonetheless, Isaiah 5:20 says, "Woe to them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" The ninth Commandment found in Exodus 20:16 says, "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor." In Hebrew, it's called "Lashon hara," or evil tongue. If you believe the Bible is the inerrant and infallible word of God, then you should know the difference between evil and good.

You should also know that America is not God's kingdom on earth. Notwithstanding, America is special because as citizens we have a say in its government and the freedom to express ourselves, even influence others, in our society. When the Bible instructs to overcome evil with good, at least for now, we in America can actually do that. No, America is not a theocracy, it is a Constitutional Republic, which is secular. One way that we as Christians can participate in overcoming evil with good is through the right to vote. While the choices of candidates may not all follow Christ, it is our right to vote for those who we believe will best represent our values in the offices they will hold.

Many Christians have a wrong mind about good citizenship. They see citizenship in the kingdom of God as mutually exclusive to also being a citizen of the nation in which they live. It's not either/or, it's both/and. You can do your part as a Christian citizen in the kingdom of God while here on earth by being a good citizen where you live. In this, you are actually fulfilling Romans 13:1, "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God." Many Christians use this verse to justify not participating in politics and letting the government do whatever it wants. In America, our Founding Fathers gave us the right to influence the government. We should exercise that right as citizens of the Untied States of America AND do it BECAUSE we are citizens in the kingdom of God.

While America is not a Christian nation-it's not a theocracy--over 70% of Americans claim to be Christian. As in the past presidential election, Christians stood in the gap and made not only a difference, but THE difference. Yes, God can do whatever he chooses in the affairs of nations and men. More often than not, God chooses to work through his people. There are countless examples of this in the Bible. In this next election only 28 days away, those who call evil good are so angry that they will exercise their right to vote, many times over in some cases. Remember that their bible is the Communist Manifesto which abolishes eternal truths, all religion, and all morality. We know the truth. Do the right thing. Vote.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Ancient Discovery is First Testimony to Full Name of Jerusalem

While Jerusalem is mentioned 660 times in the Hebrew Bible, only five mentions have the full spelling as we know it today, including Jeremiah 26:18, Esther 2:6, 2 Chronicles 25:1, 2 Chronicles 32: 9 and 2 Chronicles 25: 1.

The first epigraphic testimony noting the full spelling of Jerusalem in letters was unveiled at Jerusalem's Israel Museum for the first time Tuesday in a joint press conference of the museum and the Israel Antiquities Authority.

At the press conference on October 9, the Israel Antiquities Authority announced the 2,000 year-old discovery from the Second Temple Period (First Century AD), which will be part of a new exhibition of artifacts from the capital city of Jerusalem.

Found at the excavation site of an ancient Jewish potter's quarter near Binyanei Ha'Uma (The International Convention Center) in Jerusalem, excavation director Danit Levy found the limestone inscription last winter. Discovered out of context, the Aramaic inscriptions appear on a column drum supporting the foundations of a Roman structure are Hebrew letters, typical of the Second Temple Period, that read: "Hananiah son of Dodalos of Jerusalem."
