Focus on Israel

1. Iran's Rouhani rejects Israeli involvement in Gulf naval security - Times Of Israel

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday rejected Israeli involvement in US-led naval efforts to boost security in the Persian Gulf after a series of tanker seizures by Iran.

At a weekly cabinet meeting, Rouhani said Gulf states can guarantee security in the region without US assistance and accused Israel of sowing instability in the Middle East.

"Israelis had better take care of the security of where they are if they can. Although, wherever they had a presence, they brought about nothing but insecurity, slaughter and terror," he was quoted saying by the Mehr news agency.

2. Israel blamed for blast in Iran-backed militia weapons depot in Baghdad - Times Of Israel

A former Iraqi deputy prime minister on Wednesday indicated Israel was responsible for a massive explosion earlier this week in a weapons depot controlled by an Iranian-backed Shiite militia in Baghdad.

"We believe they are weapons we were holding onto for a neighboring state and they were targeted by an oppressive colonial state on the basis of a treasonous Iraqi act," former deputy prime minister Baha al-Araji wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

An unnamed security source on Wednesday also told the Asharq al-Awsat, an Arabic-language newspaper published in London, that Israel was behind the strike.

3. Israel bracing for Temple Mount visit by Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib - New York Post

Israeli officials are preparing for the possibility that Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib - the first Muslim women elected to Congress - may visit the Temple Mount in Jerusalem during a visit to the country, according to reports.

Deputy national security adviser Reuven Azar held a "secret meeting" on the subject in Israel's National Security Council, according to a Channel 13 report cited by the Times of Israel.

Azar said there was a high probability that the freshman Democrats - two of the four members of "the Squad" - will want to visit the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock shrine at the holy site, according to the report. It was agreed that it is vital that if the Omar (D-Minn.) and Tlaib (D-Mich.) visit the site, police must not allow them to be accompanied by officials from the Palestinian Authority, which would serve as tacit approval by the lawmakers of Palestinian claims of sovereignty at the holiest place in Judaism.

4. Israeli experts say biometric firm exposed data of millions of people - Times Of Israel

Israeli researchers said Wednesday they had discovered a publicly accessible database belonging to a major internet security tool, that enabled anyone in the world to gain access to over a million fingerprints, face recognition information, usernames, passwords and more.

The tool, Biostar 2 by South Korean firm Suprema, is used by thousands of companies and organizations including banks, defense companies and British police to control entry into secure locations and identify authorized persons.

The experts said the leak may have revealed millions of people's data.

5. Bennett: Right-wing party promises to back Netanyahu for prime minister - World Israel News

Naftali Bennett, a former cabinet minister and now a candidate on the Yemina (Rightward) list running in the September 17 Knesset election, says the right-wing faction will recommend that incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu get the nod to form the next government after the election.

"I will say this as clearly and explicitly as possible: The Yemina party will recommend Netanyahu as prime minister of the State of Israel," Bennett stated. Public opinion polls have shown a neck-and-neck race between Netanyahu's Likud Party and Blue and White, headed by MK Benny Gantz, as the largest factions in the next parliament.

The right appears to have an upper hand in achieving a parliamentary majority to form a government coalition. However, the balance of power seems to lie in the hands of Israel Beteinu party leader MK Avigdor Liberman, whose refusal to join a Netanyahu government after April's election led to the calling of another national ballot to take place just months later. In July interviews, Bennett refused to commit to endorsing the prime minister in the consultations with the state's president, which take place after a Knesset election.

1. Trump administration: Bibles printed in China will be exempt from tariff hikes - Washington Examiner

The Trump administration's plan to hike tariffs on goods produced in China does not include Bibles, according to a report. The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative posted lists on Tuesday of items that will be subject to the upcoming tariff increases imposed by the U.S. on China as part of the ongoing trade war between the two nations.

Two lists, one going into effect on Sept. 1, the other on Dec. 15, detail $300 billion worth of goods from China that will be subject to a 10% tariff as part of President Trump's plan to deal more harshly with the communist nation. Absent, however, from both lists are Bibles, which are overwhelmingly produced in China.

China maintains its status as the top producer of Bibles in the world due to specialized printing technology that is necessary to print and bind on specialized, thin paper required to produce Bibles. They currently print over 75% of Bibles in the world. Approximately 20 million Bibles printed in China are sold or given away in the United States annually. (Read more)

- And it will be said: "Build up, build up, prepare the road! Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people." (Isaiah 57:14)

2. Judge slaps down Dem gambit in Trump impeachment probe - FoxNews

A D.C. federal judge on Wednesday shot down an attempt by House Judiciary Committee Democrats to link their subpoena for former White House counsel Don McGahn to a separate request for secret grand jury information from the Russia investigation after the Justice Department accused them of trying to "game the system."

Normally cases are assigned to judges randomly, which the DOJ said is meant to keep parties from "attempting to game the system" by "shopping" for a judge they like. But in a Tuesday court filing, the department alleged the Democrat-controlled committee was trying to do exactly that by exploiting an exception that allows "related" cases to be heard by the same judge. In this case, the DOJ said the panel improperly sought to connect the McGahn case to the grand jury case simply because they're both part of their investigation of President Trump.

D.C. District Court Chief Judge Beryl Howell identified the legal issues in the grand jury case, pointing out that those issues "are entirely absent" from the McGahn case. The McGahn case will now be transferred to the Calendar and Case Management Committee to be randomly reassigned. (Read more)

- Father, we pray all spurious lawsuits against President Trump will be dismissed.

- Remove the false way from me, and graciously grant me Your law. (Psalm 119:29)

3. Project Veritas - Google Whistleblower Goes Public: 'I Saw Something Dark and Nefarious Going On' - Breitbart

A Google whistleblower has gone public with claims of election manipulation and political bias, according to investigative journalism group Project Veritas, which posted a trove of over 950 documents provided by Google insider Zachary Vorhies, who says he has come forward because he "saw something dark and nefarious going on with the company and I realized that they were going to not only tamper with the elections, but use that tampering with the elections to essentially overthrow the United States."

Vorhies stated, "My message to those that are on the fence is go in, see everything that Google is doing and then see the scale of it. Because I think that there's a lot of engineers that have a hint that things are wrong, but they don't understand the colossal scale that it's at. And so for those people, I say, look at the documents, take the pulse of America, see what's happening and come and tell the world you know what you already know to be true. (Read more)

- Father God, thank You for this brave man. We pray more evidence will come out showing all the ways tech companies are abusing their power to manipulate people.

- The Lord detests differing weights, and dishonest scales do not please him. (Proverbs 20:23)

4. Democrats, Media Collude with China to Influence 2020 Election - American Greatness

As U.S. negotiators were overseas attempting to stop a foreign power's aggression, American political operatives were telling the other side to hold off on making any agreement. They would get a better deal from a new administration after the election, those operatives assured them.

At the very moment Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer were in Shanghai to negotiate an end to China's trade war-China has been saying it won't agree to anything unless the United States first lifts the tariffs the Trump Administration has imposed-U.S. Senator Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) was on live television announcing to the world she would get rid of those tariffs China wants gone.

When Kamala sent her message to China undercutting our negotiators in real time, the media stayed silent. These same pundits don't say a word about Beijing's election interference plans that are already operational, nor about how Democrats' behavior encourages Beijing to do everything it can to prevent President Trump's reelection. (Read more)

- Father, we pray all promises of leniency towards our enemies will become known before the 2020 election. - You, Lord God Almighty, you who are the God of Israel, rouse yourself to punish all the nations; show no mercy to wicked traitors.
(Psalm 59:5)

5. CNN, Beto O'Rourke Target Conservative Media as Terrorist Organizations - Breitbart

According to far-left CNN and imploding Democrat presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke, Breitbart News, Fox News, and Sinclair News are terrorist organizations sowing "seeds of terror." CNN's toxic and dangerous approach to politics is not being rebuffed by other news outlets. Instead, outlets like the far-left New York Times have joined CNN in ginning up hate and violence against the political right.

The fact that it is now considered an act of terrorism for right-leaning media outlets to express opinions and ideas that are mainstream and reflected in the law, opinions about illegal immigration and border enforcement, not only tells you how far off the deep end the left has gone, but the lengths to which they will go to snuff out competing ideas, to intimidate and bully us into silence.

There is no amount of violence against the political right that will ever satisfy Zucker and CNN, which is why the network regularly praises the left-wing terrorist group Antifa, regularly gins up violence against police officers, and on every occasion offered, fires off its assassination dog whistles against our sitting president. (Read more)

- Father, we ask You to touch the heart of every person in our nation; bring us to repentance and fill us with Your love for each other.

- The desire of the righteous ends only in good, but the hope of the wicked only in wrath. (Proverbs 11:23)

6. Warren on the rise: National poll finds senator in statistical tie with Biden - Washington Examiner

A new survey found that Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren are in a dead heat for the Democratic presidential nomination. Biden brought in 21% nationally compared to Warren who garnered 20% support, with a 2.6% margin of error.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders came in third, clocking in at 16% support among voters. No other candidate polled in the double digits, with Sen. Kamala Harris of California registering 8%. New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg both received 5% support in the poll.

A poll released Tuesday found that in the key primary state of New Hampshire, Sanders leads the 76-year-old former vice president 21% to 15%. Biden still commands a substantial lead in the RealClearPolitics national average of polls. He is registering 30.3% support with Warren coming in second at 18.5%, and Sanders rounding out the pack at 17.5% support. (Read more)

- Father, we lift up all the Democrat candidates and pray for Your protection to surround each one as they travel. We ask You to help the candidate who will cast a positive vision for our nation and its citizens.

7. Senate Dems deliver stunning warning to Supreme Court: 'Heal' or face restructuring - FoxNews

Several high-profile Senate Democrats warned the Supreme Court in pointed terms this week that it could face a fundamental restructuring if justices do not take steps to "heal" the court in the near future.

The ominous and unusual warning was delivered as part of a brief filed Monday in a case related to a New York City gun law. Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, Richard Durbin, D-Ill., and Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., referenced rulings by the court's conservative majority in claiming it is suffering from some sort of affliction which must be remedied.

Dramatic changes to the Supreme Court have been proposed by several Democrats vying for their party's 2020 presidential nomination. Beto O'Rourke of Texas, and Sens. Cory Booker of New Jersey, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Kamala Harris of California, and Gillibrand, all have signaled an openness to expanding the number of judges on the court should they reach the White House.(Read more)

- Father God, we pray our system of government will be preserved and protected from those who want to usurp power for themselves.

- Indignation grips me because of the wicked, who have forsaken your law.
(Psalm 119:53)

8. FBI to assist in Portland as city braces for dueling Antifa, right-wing protests - FoxNews

Portland, Ore., is gearing up for a set of dueling rallies this weekend that is expected to bring an informal coalition of right-wing groups-- some of which have been decried as white nationalists and white supremacists-- and so-called anti-fascists, who have violently opposed these right-wing demonstrators. Portland's so-called "Antifa" members have issued an online call to followers to turn out to "defend Portland from a far-Right attack." Portland's Rose City Antifa said violence against right-wing demonstrators is "exactly what should happen when the far-right attempts to invade our town."

Portland leaders are planning a major law enforcement presence on the heels of similar rallies in June and last summer that turned violent, and the recent hate-driven shooting in El Paso, Texas. None of the city's nearly 1,000 police officers will have the day off, and Portland will get help from the Oregon State Police and the FBI. Mayor Ted Wheeler has said he may ask Gov. Kate Brown, a Democrat, to call up the Oregon National Guard. (Read more)

- Father, we pray that You will visit the city of Portland with Your peace. We ask You to intervene and cause troublemakers to stay home.

- "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble." (James 4:6b)

9. Dow plunges 650 points after bond market flashes a recession warning - CNBC

Stocks plunged on Wednesday, giving back Tuesday's solid gains, after the U.S. bond market flashed a troubling signal about the U.S. economy. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped about 660 points or 2.5%, a new low for August, giving up the entire rebound from a sell-off earlier in the month.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note on Wednesday broke below the 2-year rate, an odd bond market phenomenon that has been a reliable indicator of economic recessions. Investors, worried about the state of the economy, rushed to long-term safe haven assets, pushing the yield on the benchmark 30-year Treasury bond to a new record low on Wednesday.

Investors are increasingly worried about a global economic slowdown as weaker-than-expected data in China deepened the gloom in the world's second-largest economy. Official data published Wednesday showed growth of China's industrial output slowed to 4.8% in July from a year earlier, the weakest growth in 17 years. (Read more)

- Father God, for the sake of the righteous, we ask You to sustain our economy and help our people prosper.

- O Lord of hosts, how blessed is the man who trusts in You! (Psalm 84:12)

10. IL Governor Signs Bill Mandating LGBT History Curriculum in All Public Schools - CBN News

llinois has passed a law requiring "LGBT history" to be taught in all public schools. Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D - IL) signed House Bill 246 on August 9 with the objective of encouraging a more diverse history curriculum. HB 246 says the provisions are in the public interest, for the public benefit, and to serve secular public purposes. This affects all schools, stipulating they include "the role and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people" in official textbooks. It also includes a section that allows the state education department to implement rules "as necessary" for the law to be enacted and quote, "to ensure the religious neutrality of the textbook block grant program."

Gov. Pritzker said, "The LGBTQ community won't just have a seat at the table, they will be equal partners in the fight to make equality a lived reality for all." New Jersey, California, and Colorado have also embraced the new LGBT school curriculum. (Read more)

- Father, this curriculum grooms children to accept sexual perversion. We pray that the parents, teachers and administrators of Illinois. New Jersey, California, and Colorado will speak up to have this material removed from classrooms.

- Wisdom shouts in the street, she lifts her voice in the square. (Proverbs 1:20)

Marriage

My parents were married just a few months shy of 50 years-my dad checked out early for a trip to heaven. My wife's parents were married 61 years before her dad passed away. Chris and I are into year 31. This is at a time when many young people are not seeing the value of marriage. More and more are opting to live together, even have children, before getting married. Some Millennial generation young adults have told me that marriage is outdated. Others say that with the trauma they experienced with their parents getting divorced, they do not want to risk marriage. The divorce rate is as high among Christians as it is in the general population. But marriage is essential to the family unit and the core of the nation.

There is a story about a couple in California who have been married 68 years. It is worth a read, as reported by CBS 13 in Sacramento: "It's one thing to match on your wedding day but it's another to match for 68 years. That's what Francis and Rosemary Klontz have been doing for seven decades. And they sing, too! Francis and Rosemary Klonts met in Junior High in Auburn, Washington. Every note they sing and every outfit they wear is perfectly harmonized. "My mother got us matching shirts when we were in high school-well, I picked them out-and we've been matching ever since," Rosemary Klonts said. "And I thought she was the cutest little thing," Francis Klonts said. "By the time we were seniors, we started going together."
Verse 4:12 finishes that "a three-strand chord is not quickly broken," which is interpreted by many as the strength of two people tied together in marriage as strengthened by the third, which is Christ. While this is a bit out of context, it is true. Without God at the center, things can fall apart pretty quickly. Divorce statistics are showing there are slightly fewer divorces, and it is largely attributed to people living together and not getting married. Marriage and family are foundational to a strong society. We should celebrate those who have successful marriages and learn from them. For as Christ said in Matthew 19:6, "What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." Again, the three-strand chord concept.

Have a blessed and powerful day,

Family Research Council Commends Dept. of Labor's Proposed Rule Protecting Religious Employers

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Mary Beth Waddell, Family Research Council's Senior Legislative Assistant released the following statement in response to a proposed rule by the Department of Labor that protects religious employers from government discrimination:

"Given recent decisions by the United States Supreme Court protecting religious liberty, today the Department of Labor issued a proposed rule clarifying the rights of religious employers to contract with the Department without being forced to violate their conscience rights. This is in keeping with our nation's history of respect for moral and religious beliefs.

"Family Research Council applauds the Department for taking steps to ensure that religious employers are free to operate according to their religious beliefs without fear of government punishment," concluded Waddell.

Classic Hymns

IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL

"Praise the Lord, O my soul." (Psalm 146:1)

Lyrics

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Refrain

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

Refrain

My sin-oh, the bliss of this glorious thought-
My sin-not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Refrain

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

Refrain

But, Lord, 'tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!

Refrain

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
"Even so" - it is well with my soul.

Refrain

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Signs and Wonders:

EXPLOSION INTERRUPTS SOLAR MINIMUM

Yesterday, Aug. 13th, a completely unexpected explosion occurred on the spotless sun. Coronagraphs onboard the orbiting Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) recorded a cloud of debris billowing away from the blast site. (Go here to see this solar blast)

The slow-moving cloud is *not* heading for Earth. It will sail wide of our planet and not cause a geomagnetic storm. If the blast site had been facing Earth, the story might be different. Coils of strong magnetism evident in the structure of the cloud could cause strong auroras and other effects if they made contact with Earth's magnetosphere.

Explosions like this can happen at any time--even during Solar Minimum--when magnetic fields in the sun's atmosphere occasionally become unstable and reorganize themselves. No sunspots are required. Good thing, because the sun has been without spots for 7 straight days and altogether more than 150 days so far in 2019. Solar Minimum continues, with a chance of interruptions. The Good News Corner

Marine, Who Was Kidnapped as a Baby, Reunites with
'Real Hero' FBI Agent Who Found and Rescued Him

A U.S. Marine who was kidnapped from a Washington state hospital as an infant described his recent reunion with the FBI agent who rescued him as "humbling" and a "great honor."

"From what I've been told by my parents, this lady came into the hospital posing as a nurse at around 1:30 in the morning and told my mother that she was going to take me to the nursery and after that, they didn't know where I was," Cpl. Stewart Rembert told "Fox & Friends."

It was FBI Special Agent Troy Sowers who found Rembert in a cardboard box near a restaurant dumpster 36 hours after the 1997 kidnapping. Rembert said Sowers located his kidnapper with the help of military police in the Tacoma area. After Sowers confronted the woman, agents were able to convince her to reveal the location of the baby.
