U.N. SECURITY COUNCIL MEETING, LED BY TRUMP,
TO INCREASE PRESSURE ON IRAN
United States President Donald Trump will later this month chair a high-level United Nations Security Council meeting on the situation in the Middle East, in a bid to tighten the diplomatic screws on Iran. The American leader is expected to use the session to focus the spotlight on Tehran's regional expansionism through its proxies in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen; its ballistic missile program; and its global arm sales-all of which, according to the Trump administration, violate existing UNSC resolutions.
"We want to make sure that [the Iranians] understand the world is watching [and] that is the biggest reason for this meeting," US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley explained, leading analysts to posit that the primary American goal is to continue ratcheting up pressure on the mullahs.
In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif accused the US president of hypocrisy, tweeting, "There's only one UNSC resolution on Iran. @realDonaldTrump is violating it & bullying others to do same. Now he plans to abuse [the rotating] presidency of [the Security Council which Washington holds in September] to divert a session-item devoted to Palestine for 70 yrs-to blame Iran for horrors US & clients have unleashed across M.E. #chutzpah."
Zarif was referring to the unanimous adoption in July 2015 of UNSC resolution 2231, which endorsed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action-commonly known as the Iran nuclear deal-and President Trump's subsequent unilateral withdrawal from the pact in May. . .
"[President Trump] is looking to mobilize the support of the international community, especially the signatories of the Iran nuclear deal," with regards to economic sanctions, Dr. Raz Zimmt, a Senior Research Fellow at the Tel Aviv-based Institute for National Security Studies, asserted to The Media Line.
"[The Iranians] consider Trump's appearance as a provocation and they expect him to use this opportunity to attack Iran," he elaborated. "The main question is whether Trump wants to use this opportunity to arrange a meeting with [Iranian] President Hassan Rouhani, assuming he will be attending. We still don't know because Zarif might be sent instead. My assessment is that Tehran will [anyways] never agree to that meeting.

- Father God, we thank You that, in his merely two years in office, President Donald Trump has gained respect and honor in nations worldwide. We ask now that he will reap the results of this international time of recognition when he presents his case before this global forum for the denuclearization of the nation of Iran. We ask this blessing in Your Holy name, O Lord, amen.

1. 'Major mistake': Israel, US warn Russia against giving S-300 missiles to Syria - Times of Israel
Both Jerusalem and Washington warned Russia on Monday evening against its declared intention to provide the Syrian military with advanced surface-to-air missiles within two weeks, saying the move would further destabilize the region and increase already high tensions.
Israel's high-level security cabinet was set to meet Tuesday morning to discuss the latest developments involving ties with Russia, in the aftermath of last week's downing of a Russian plane by Syrian anti-aircraft fire during an Israeli airstrike.
Russian President Vladimir Putin informed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of the decision to provide Syria with the S-300 system in a phone call Sunday.

2. Security Cabinet to convene over relations with Russia - YNET News
The Security Cabinet will convene on Tuesday at the Prime Minister's Office amid the raised tensions between Israel and Russia following Moscow's announcement it will supply an S-300 anti-missile system to Syria within two weeks.
Russia's announcement comes a day after its defense ministry presented the findings of its investigation into the downing of the reconnaissance plane, which concluded that Israel bears responsibility for the aircraft's shooting down that killed 15 crewmen.
During the one-hour Security Cabinet meeting, ministers will be updated on recent developments. Shortly after, Prime Minister Netanyahu will depart for New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly.

3. Hamas hints: Another round of fighting may be coming - Israel National News
Senior Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya warned that there may be another round of fighting between Gaza and Israel.
Speaking to the Hamas newspaper Felesteenon Saturday, al-Hayya promised the violent Gaza border riots - referred to by Hamas as the "March of Return" will continue.
If the riots do not achieve their goal, however, al-Hayya warned, "We will use every means in order to achieve our goal, which is the end of the occupation and breaking the siege."

4. Netanyahu and Sisi expected to meet on the sidelines of U.N. meeting - Jerusalem Post
The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is expected to meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Egyptian daily Akhbar al-Yawm reported on Monday, according to Channel 10.
Al-Sisi said that the two-state solution should be part of any American peace plan and that the plan should include principles from previous negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.
Al-Sisi is also expected to raise the matter during his meeting with US President Donald Trump, even though it was reported that he doesn't expect any significant breakthrough in the negotiations.

5. Relatives of victims of Palestinian terror want Abbas barred from UN - Times of Israel
Relatives of victims of Palestinian terror attacks called on US President Donald Trump on Sunday to bar Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas from attending the United Nations General Assembly to be held in New York later this week.
"Abbas is the one person who is personally responsible for the monthly reward payments by the Palestinian Authority to terrorists and the families of terrorists who murdered our loved ones," the group, American Victims of Palestinian Terrorism, said in a letter. "As recently as last week Abbas reiterated and reaffirmed his commitment to making such payments, assuring that payments would be made to the Palestinian terrorist who brutally murdered Ari Fuld, a dual citizen of the United States and Israel."
The victims' relatives said the decision to allow Abbas entry into the US was not only a "slap in the face" to those who have suffered from Palestinian terror, but also "in clear violation of the spirit and the letter of American law."

1. Rosenstein to Meet Trump Thursday Amid Reports He Resigned - Bloomberg
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump on Thursday to discuss his future, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said, after he verbally resigned to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, according to one person familiar with the matter.
Kelly and Rosenstein discussed the resignation late last week, and the White House accepted it and considered Rosenstein's departure a done deal, the person said. A second person familiar with the matter said earlier Monday that Rosenstein was expected to be gone from the job by day's end.
The second person now says Rosenstein is still the deputy attorney general and that no formal resignation was tendered. Rosenstein, who oversees the probe run by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, visited the White House Monday for a previously scheduled meeting. Other media reports said that the deputy attorney general expected to be fired.
"At the request of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, he and President Trump had an extended conversation to discuss the recent news stories," Sanders said in a statement. "They will meet on Thursday when the president returns to Washington." (Read more)
- Lord, only You know the hearts of both Rosenstein and the President We speak peace to this firestorm, and protection over President Trump to do what is necessary to bring about an end to the constant deep state upheaval.

2. Kavanaugh will use 1982 calendar to deny sex assault claims - NY Post
Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh will turn over calendars to the Senate Judiciary Committee from 1982 that do not show him attending a high school party where Christine Blasey Ford said he sexually attacked her, according to a report on Sunday.
The calendars show that Kavanaugh, then a teenager, was out of town during most of that summer at the beach or with his parents, the New York Times reported, citing someone working on his confirmation hearings. While at home in suburban Maryland, Kavanaugh's calendar listed basketball games, movies he went to, football workouts and college interviews.
It mentioned several parties, but the calendar included names of friends other than those identified by Ford, the newspaper said. (Read more)

3. New Kavanaugh Accusations: Not One Eyewitness, Accuser's Former Best Friend 'Never Heard of It' - CNSNews.com
There are no confirmed eyewitnesses to Deborah Ramirez' alleged sexual assault by U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, The New Yorker reported on Sunday, Sept. 23.
"The New Yorker has not confirmed with other eyewitnesses that Kavanaugh was present at the party. The magazine contacted several dozen classmates of Ramirez and Kavanaugh regarding the incident. Many did not respond to interview requests; others declined to comment, or said they did not attend or remember the party," the magazine wrote. (Read more)

4. Dozens arrested on Capitol Hill as Kavanaugh protests heat up - USA Today
Dozens of angry protesters were arrested outside the Capitol Hill offices of multiple senators Monday as opposition to Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh grew stronger amid accusations of sexual assault as a young man.
Protesters carrying signs and chanting slogans filled hallways outside the offices of Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and other lawmakers. Eva Malecki, communications director for Capitol Police, confirmed the arrests were made at the Dirksen Senate Office Building but would not say how many.
Many protesters wore black T-shirts emblazoned with "Be a hero." Two Republicans rejecting Kavanaugh's nomination would probably be sufficient to derail it, and protesters are looking for "hero" GOP lawmakers. Some of the demonstrators came from Yale Law School, Kavanaugh's alma mater. Members of a group called Yale Law Students Demanding Better included Veronica Guerrero, who told law.com that more than 100 traveled from the Connecticut school to join the protest. (Read more)

5. Graham: There's a 'bureaucratic coup' taking place against Trump - The Hill
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Sunday that there is a "bureaucratic coup" against President Trump. The South Carolina senator made the comments while speaking on "Fox News Sunday" after host Chris Wallace asked if Attorney General Rod Rosenstein should be fired for allegedly trying to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from the White House. "He shouldn't fire Rosenstein unless you believe Rosenstein's lying; he said he didn't do the things alleged," Graham said. Rosenstein strongly denied the recent New York Times report.
"But there's a bureaucratic coup against President Trump being discovered here," Graham added, saying people in the FBI tried to "taint the [2016 presidential] election" and tip it in Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's favor. (Read more)

Both Jerusalem and Washington warned Russia on Monday evening against its declared intention to provide the Syrian military with advanced surface-to-air missiles within two weeks, saying the move would further destabilize the region and increase already high tensions.

7. Just now, President Trump keeps another promise on trade - The White House
"For decades politicians have talked about fixing broken trade deals only to do absolutely nothing about them," President Donald J. Trump said this afternoon from New York. "My Administration is the first to actually keep our promise and deliver."
In New York City for the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly this week, President Trump met with South Korean President Moon Jae-in today to sign a new trade agreement that protects American workers and businesses. The revised deal will increase U.S. exports while preserving jobs in America's auto industry.
Under the old U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement (KORUS) signed in 2012, our trade deficit skyrocketed from 6.3 billion to $9.8 billion by 2017. Under the new arrangement, South Korea will double the annual number of American automobiles that can enter its market using U.S. safety standards. Seoul has also agreed to address issues with onerous and costly customs procedures that have hindered American exports.
The Republic of Korea is a key ally and trading partner of the United States; improving U.S.-Korean trade will help to strengthen this crucial economic and national security relationship. "Our two countries have set an example of friendship and cooperation for trade that rarely you see in this age," President Trump said. (View here)
- Father God, we thank You that every promise our president has made on the campaign trail . . . he has kept. We thank You for his wisdom and skill in making our nation great again in the area of the economy. In Your Name, amen.
- "This is how we are sure that we have come to know Him: by keeping His commands. The one who says, "I have come to know Him," yet doesn't keep His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly in him the love of God is perfected. This is how we know we are in Him." (I John 2:3-5)
8. Iran warns US, Israel of 'devastating' response after deadly parade attack, report says - Fox News
A top military official in Iran warned the U.S. and Israel on Monday of a "devastating" response after he blamed the two countries of playing a role in Saturday's assault that killed 25, including 12 members of the Revolutionary Guards, Reuters reported.
Militants disguised as soldiers opened fire on an annual Iranian military parade in the southwestern city of Ahvaz. The shooting was the deadliest terror attack to strike the country in nearly a decade.
Hossein Salami, the deputy head of the Revolutionary Guard, was at a funeral for one of the attack's victims when he reportedly said, "You have seen our revenge before . . . You will see that our response will be crushing and devastating and you will regret what you have done."
Suspects have reportedly been arrested and the country has declared Monday a national day of mourning. Iran believes the attack was carried out by militants trained by Israel and Gulf states, and supported by the U.S. (Read more)
- Lord, we take authority over every declaration spoken by Iran against Your people and bind it in the Name of Jesus. We will remember Your Name is above every other name!
- "Therefore God has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name." (Phil. 2:9)
9. Opposition grows to controversial deal between Beijing, Vatican - KXLY/CNN affiliate
A long-expected, controversial deal between the Chinese government and Catholic leaders in the Vatican has sparked opposition, including inside the Church itself.
The provisional agreement, which will see the Vatican recognize the legitimacy of bishops appointed by the Chinese government, comes at a time when the ruling Communist Party is cracking down on "illegal" Christian groups in the country.
Officially, there are about 6 million Catholics in China, although the real number could be more than twice that when counting followers in so-called underground, or unlicensed churches, according to a researcher with the Holy Spirit Study Center in Hong Kong. (Read more)
- Lord, we pray for Your people in China who are attempting to stand strong in their faith amid the government's crackdown. This agreement by the Catholic church could work against those who are not Catholic in the underground church. We ask for strength and faith for each member of the body of Christ.
- "For the Lord preserves the faithful." (Psalm 31:23b)
10. Pagan Arch to Reappear as Washington Exhibit Centerpiece - Breaking Israel News
The reproduction of the Arch of Palmyra, a Roman victory arch that stood as the entrance to a pagan temple for almost 2,000 years, will make an improbable appearance in Washington D.C. and the International Criminal Court in the Hague as a "symbol of Peace and Resilience."
The original Roman victory arch was built in Palmyra, Syria at the end of the second century CE. Originally it stood in front of the Temple of Bel where pagans worshiped the Mesopotamian god, also known as Ba'al, in a form of idol worship that figures prominently in the Bible. The temple was dedicated in 32 CE but was constructed on the site of a pre-existing temple that goes back to the third millennium BCE.
The Temple of Bel, along with many other pagan places of worship in the area, was converted into a Catholic church during the Byzantine Era. Parts of the structure were modified by Arabs in 1132 who preserved the edifice and converted the Temple into a mosque The original arch was destroyed by the Islamic State (ISIS) in October 2015, but one year later, the Institute for Digital Archaeology (IDA) used 3-D printing technology to reproduce a 20-foot full-scale replica. (Read more)
- Father, we ask that you stop this idolatrous insanity to be unveiled in Washington DC on September 26. We ask that You bring repentance to Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) and Ranking Member Eliot Engel (D-NY) as well as all those who were part of the Institute for Digital Archaeology for their participation in this unveiling. The releasing of such ancient demonic realms in DC will only add to the chaos.
- "Truly these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent." (Acts 17:30)
11. Protestors Being Trained in Tactics of Street Fighting - CHPP
We have learned, through social media sources, that the protestors who are now being bussed into the city are meeting at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. where they are being trained in tactics to create violent protests on the streets of our city.
- Lord God, we ask You to forgive those in authority at St. Stephen's Church for allowing these demonstrators to mobilize in their church, and then to bring violence in our city. We ask that Your hand of protection would rest upon ALL who are here this week - no matter what their political opinion might be. Help us, O Lord, we pray!
- "Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered, And let those who hate Him flee before Him." (Psalm 68:1)

Speaking truth to convict the lies
9.24.18 Speaking truth to convict the lies In Ezekiel 8, the Lord God through a vision showed Ezekiel the abominations that were being committed in the temple. Verse 9 says, "And he said unto me (Ezekiel), Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do there." Ezekiel records that he saw every form of creeping things and abominable beasts, and idols portrayed upon the walls. Moving to the inner court, he saw the elders worshiping false gods. In verse 17, the Lord says "for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger." Of course, the Lord was speaking of the Temple and the abominations the elders of Judah were doing. But this is not unlike what we have today in America.
The elders of America, among them our elected officials, are committing all sorts of abominations against God and country. We have the deep state and the Democratic Party, influenced by globalism and communism, trying to undermine the nation. The more that these wicked allies press to expose, the deeper they all are implicated. They threaten obstruction, threats of impeachment and more investigations if they don't get their way. Encouragement to violence, acerbic rhetoric, and a lack of civility are the hallmarks of these people. On the other hand are the Republicans who lack courage to stand for what is right, they appease and fall back, and they secretly do things like fund the Planned Parenthood abortion mill.
The news media rarely checks facts, allowing the outrageous statements and accusations of people to stand, if it aligns with their leftist agenda. Even one of the weakest senators in Congress can see through the shenanigans. On this past weekend's "Fox News Sunday," Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said The New York Times' story that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein considered invoking the 25th Amendment against President Donald Trump was more proof of a "bureaucratic coup" against the president. Indeed, the far left-leaning New Yorker published a story about new sexual abuse accusations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh-all of which are unconfirmed and unverified. The media doesn't dig into the wall of these stories to find the truth. They inflame, defame, but don't verify. They are agenda driven.
The elected leaders of this country are abandoning their responsibility to the country and to those who elected them, and instead, are promoting the schisms fomented by their political agendas. All sides are wrong, some far more than others. The Lord commanded Ezekiel to "warn the wicked from his wicked way" and warn the righteous from turning from his righteousness and committing iniquity. Those of us who know truth, should speak truth and not shrink back. We need to do our part to change this vitriolic atmosphere by speaking truth firmly, but in love. Be encouraged to not raise our voices or get caught up in the argumentative atmosphere, but simply state the truth and allow it to convict the lies.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

A CALL TO PRAYER
From Dutch Sheets Ministries
Praying for the Kavanaugh Hearings and the Midterm Elections
"But you need to be aware that in the final days the culture of society will become extremely fierce and difficult for the people of God. People will be self-centered lovers of themselves and obsessed with money. They will boast of great things as they strut around in their arrogant pride and mock all that is right. They will ignore their own families. They will be ungrateful and ungodly. They will become addicted to hateful and malicious slander. Slaves to their desires, they will be ferocious, belligerent haters of what is good and right. With brutal treachery, they will act without restraint, bigoted and wrapped in clouds of their conceit. They will find their delight in the pleasures of this world more than the pleasures of the loving God. They may pretend to have a respect for God, but in reality they want nothing to do with God's power. Stay away from people like these!" (2 Timothy 3:1-5, The Passion Translation)
The Kavanaugh Hearings
Welcome to much of today's America.
A generation of Americans has given itself to erroneous and destructive beliefs: anti-biblical thinking; humanism (humans are their own god); secularism (the view that education and civil policy should be conducted without a religious element); and death (abortion). As a result, we are now ruled by the spirit that produced these beliefs. The reality of this was on full display at the confirmation hearing of Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump's nominee to the Supreme Court. I was there, along with 50-60 other intercessors, to pray for God's will to be accomplished. The level of deceit, lies, slander, and arrogant pride was shocking, displayed not only by the protesters, but also by opposing Senators. I left D.C. with several significant thoughts, which I believe are worth sharing.
Also, ask God to give us the breakthrough in the Supreme Court we have been requesting for decades-a majority of Justices who are Constitutionalists, literalists (meaning they believe the Constitution is to be taken literally, exactly as it is written) and who are pro-life. Let's also boldly ask Him for another vacancy on the Court soon - I feel strongly in my spirit another is coming quickly. We should be offensive in our prayers, not just defensive and reactionary.
> > > This is an excerpt. Read more here.
The Mid-Terms
Please pray regarding the midterm elections occurring on November 6. I have never allowed myself to be overtaken by a political spirit; for me, elections are never about Republican or Democrat. They should, at least in part, be decided based on: God's will and destiny for America; righteousness; life for the babies; morality; and the eternal souls of human beings. Having said that, however, the Democratic party has strayed far from these ideals. And they actually booed a motion to include God in their platform at the Democratic National convention in 2012. I pray for their salvation, but I cannot support their current policies.
Pray fervently . . . faithfully . . . daily . . . boldly. Ask Holy Spirit for His mercy to our nation. Appeal to Him for His assistance to us in our attempt to turn America. Petition Him for the assistance of angels. Pray that evil will not prevail. Ask Holy Spirit to confuse and thwart the plans of those who oppose Him. Pray for President Trump and other leaders in our nation who are standing for life and for America's God-given destiny. President Trump, though imperfect, is doing a good job. Make no mistake about it, the vile hatred of him by the left is not because of his immoral past. Hollywood-the heroes and partners of those on the left-glorifies immoral lifestyles on a daily basis. They hate President Trump because he is helping turn around the antichrist agenda they love, and because he is halting their transformation of America into something other than what was intended by God and our Founders.
John Quincy Adams, son of John Adams and America's 6th president stated, "The highest glory of the American Revolution was this: it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity." So much for our Founders not wanting God involved in our nation and its government! Contend with me for this reality to be restored and continue into our future.
In our war for America's recovery, we have come to our Saratoga, our Omaha Beach. We will either persevere in this battle and, with God's help, win; or we will grow weary and lose. There is no middle ground. I am convinced that we, the praying church, will continue to fight and will win. America's destiny and the cause of Christ is at stake!

General Debate
Published by TOS Ministries America, Inc.

Dear Sara,
The annual General Debate during the 73rd session of the General Assembly starts Tuesday, September 25th at 9 am with a report by Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
Like we wrote last month, there is no stronger power than God's Word to fight and bless with - the truth, the two-edged sword. Can we keep praying with Proverbs during the month of September for all world leaders and especially those who will come to New York for meetings?
We also need to be alert in the spirit for all the meetings behind closed doors that will take place among the leaders during this time. Every plan of the enemy against God's people and every false counsel shall be exposed. In the name of Jesus and with God's Word we have all authority we need as watchmen on the wall to pray, as it says in Jeremiah 1:10, "See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant."

President Trump Will Preside Over Security Council Meeting this Wednesday, September 26th, 2018
On Wednesday, September 26th, United States President Donald Trump will preside over a high-level United Nations Security Council meeting on: Maintenance of international peace and security: non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, in a bid to tighten the diplomatic screws on Iran. The American leader is expected to use the session to focus the spotlight on Tehran's regional expansionism through its proxies in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen; its ballistic missile program; and its global arm sales-all of which, according to the Trump administration, violate existing UNSC resolutions.
Please pray for Nikki Haley and her team during this month of the US presidency for godly wisdom and authority.

The gates of hell can not prevail against the church, the Body of Christ. The battle is the Lord's. Satan has been defeated on the cross, Halleluyah. We are victorious by the blood of Jesus, we are not afraid."

Giant Icelandic volcano is 'about to erupt' on scale that dwarfs explosion which halted air travel across Europe
Key points:
1. Scientists have warned that Katla is showing clear signs it's going to blow
2. Katla is a close neighbour to Eyjafjallajokull that erupted devastatingly in 2010
3. British and Icelandic scientists say Katla is releasing C02 on a 'huge' scale
A giant and 'highly hazardous' volcano in Iceland is showing signs that it could erupt on a scale that dwarfs the explosion that disrupted worldwide air travel eight years ago. Scientists have warned that Katla, a close neighbour to Eyjafjallajokull that erupted in 2010, is showing clear signs it's going to blow for the first time since 1918 and it's not a matter of if, but when.
Katla's cone is hidden beneath a glacier on a 5,000ft peak, making monitoring its activity difficult but Icelandic and British scientists have found by airborne measurement techniques that Katla is releasing carbon dioxide on a 'huge' scale. This sort of activity indicates its magma chambers are filling and could signal a huge eruption. Sarah Barsotti, co-ordinator for volcanic hazards at the Icelandic Meteorological Office, told The Sunday Times: 'There is no way of telling when it will erupt, just that it will.'
The translation of Katla is 'kettle' or 'boiler' and its 'overdue' eruption is likely to overshadow the eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in 2010, which led to thousands of passengers being stranded as the ash plume from the volcano halted air traffic across all of Europe, with a domino effect across the world. Barsotti said the impact of the eruption on air travel 'depends on the intensity of the eruption and the direction of the winds at the time'.
Evgenia Ilyinskaya, a research fellow in the Institute of Geophysics and Tectonics at Leeds University, said an eruption is overdue with Katla having previously erupted every 50 years on average pre-1918 when it last blew its top completely. Ilyinskaya and her fellow scientists - whose report in to the volcano was published last week in the journal Geophysical Research Letters - found that Katla was releasing between 12 and 24 kilotons of carbon dioxide every day.
Only two other volcanoes in the world are known to emit more. 'Through high-precision airborne measurements and atmospheric dispersion modelling, we show that Katla, a highly hazardous subglacial volcano which last erupted 100 years ago, is one of the largest volcanic sources of CO2 on Earth, releasing up to 5% of total global volcanic emissions,' they wrote.
Ilyinskaya told The Sunday Times that the CO2 emissions from Katla were 'huge'. Because the magna would meet a 3,000ft-thick icecap, built up since it last erupted, even a small eruption was likely to cause a larger ash plume than Eyjafjallajokull's in 2010, she added. (Daily Mail UK) Read more.

Indonesian teen survives 49 days adrift without paddle, but with Bible
An Indonesian teenager, who worked on a floating fish trap 80 miles off the country's coast, survived 49 days adrift in the Pacific Ocean with only a Bible, limited rations and a small radio, reports said Monday.
Strong winds during a July storm reportedly snapped the lines keeping Aldi Novel Adilang, a 19-year-old lamp keeper, moored in place. He was helpless and floated off without even a paddle.
"Aldi said he had been scared and often cried when adrift. Every time he saw a large ship, he said he was hopeful, but more than 10 ships had passed him, none of them stopped," Fajar Firdaus, a diplomat, said, according to reports. (Fox News) Read more.
- Lord, we rejoice that this young man was finally found and seems to be well. Drinking seawater is generally fatal, so we are blessed to hear of this miracle of Your power.

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners
Our Mission Statement
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].
Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
