Tropical Storm Florence

Current News: Tropical Storm Florence

Latest News:

As Hurricane Florence has new been reduced to the status of a Tropical Storm, it is still a large and dangerous system that will be impacting the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic States for many days to come.

Below please find several links to news articles posted today about the status and the impact of Florence.

1. Slow-moving Tropical Storm Florence claims at least 7 lives in Carolinas as rainfall continues - Fox News

Florence parked itself over the Carolinas on Saturday, bringing with it torrential downpours, dangerous winds and coastal flooding that required hundreds of water rescues and ended in multiple deaths.

"It's like being stalked by a turtle," FEMA associate director Jeffrey Byard said about the slow-moving storm. "There's a lot of rain to come. There's a lot of rain that's fallen." (Read more)

2. Florence could sweep venomous snakes into floodwaters - Fox News

Tropical Storm Florence made landfall Friday, bringing powerful storm surges and catastrophic flooding with it. But in addition to the destruction, the storm could also bring a wave of venomous snakes.

Thad Bowman, with the Alligator Adventure zoo in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, told The Sun News that residents in the Carolinas should be on the lookout for venomous snakes such as cottonmouths and copperheads, which could be displaced from their habitats due the storm.

Although copperheads bites are rarely fatal, they are a species of snake that is "the most likely to bite," Live Science reported. Cottonmouths -- sometimes referred to as "water moccasins" -- have a potent venom that can be deadly, the publication also reported. (Read more)

3. Dr. Marc Siegel: The lurking health risks of Florence - Fox News

As Tropical Storm Florence abates, millions of people remain at medical risk. For one thing, more than a million people are without power, which at the very least means that patients who are dependent on life-sustaining devices like ventilators or need to receive dialysis or intravenous treatments in order to survive are in great danger.

The condition of medical facilities in the area along with patient needs are tracked by the Health and Human Services Command Center in Washington D.C. HHS Secretary Alex Azar declared a public health emergency in the Carolinas ahead of Florence, and then suspended patient privacy sanctions which allows a free exchange of health information to save lives.

Information is shared among federal state and local health authorities, so that if you are a sick patient on a ventilator, for example, and the power goes off, there is a knock at your door and a health official who already knows your needs is there bringing you an emergency battery pack. 4. 4,000 strong: The Federal storm response - The White House

President Donald J. Trump and senior officials are monitoring multiple storms this week, including Florence, Olivia, Mangkut, and Isaac. The Administration began putting precautionary measures in place for these weather events before Labor Day.

More than 4,000 Federal employees, including more than 1,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), are working around the clock in response to these storms. Federal teams have been deployed across the Southeastern United States and Mid-Atlantic region.

"The safety of American people is my absolute highest priority," President Trump said this week. "We are sparing no expense." (Read more)

5. Hurricane Florence power outages map: More than 740,000 reported in North Carolina -

As Hurricane Florence brings heavy, life-threatening floods to the coast, more than 740,000 have been left in the dark by the storm. As of 4:30 p.m. Saturday, the statewide power outage total was 741,013. (Read more and view the power outage map here.)

6. Florence to Cause Flash Flooding, Major to Record River Flooding in Carolinas, Western Virginia - The Weather Channel

Extreme amounts of rain from Florence will continue to hammer the Carolinas and western Virginia through this weekend, triggering flash flooding and river flooding that could reach major to record levels.

Now that Florence has arrived in the Carolinas, it will slowly crawl through the region this weekend. Because of that slow movement, heavy rainfall is likely to trigger catastrophic flooding in some areas. Put simply, Florence is a "Category 5 flood threat."

Final rainfall totals are forecast to be 30 to 40 inches along the North Carolina coastal areas south of Cape Hatteras, according to the National Hurricane Center. (Read more)

7. Florence may fuel torrential rain, flooding risk in northeastern US early next week -

After triggering catastrophic flooding in the Carolinas, Florence will survive long enough to bring rounds of heavy rain and the risk of flooding to the central Appalachians and northeastern United States early next week. High pressure is expected to promote largely dry and warm weather from the Mason-Dixon line northward to end the weekend on Sunday. Showers may reach the Washington, D.C., area before the day is done as Florence's flooding rain expands from the Carolinas to southwestern Virginia and neighboring West Virginia.

There is the potential for 3 to locally 6 inches of rain from western Virginia and the mountains of West Virginia to central Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. The greatest amounts are likely on the southwestern portion of this zone, where local amounts could top 8 inches, especially in the mountains. (Read more)

Areas in the West Virginia, northern Virginia, western Maryland and Pennsylvania mountains are likely the most vulnerable for flash and stream flooding, due to the saturated state of the ground, proximity to tropical moisture and the terrain. Mudslides can also be triggered in the higher terrain. (Read more)
- Father God, it is a time for all those affected by the catastrophic flash flooding and heavy rains to pray to a loving God for help and repent of sin so that the Lord will answer their prayers and stop the destruction which has come upon them. We pray for Your mercy and grace to be there for these people. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

- "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (II Peter 3:9)

Election Issue: THE DEEP STATE

Election Issue: Week Six

Deep State: noun a body of people, typically influential members of government agencies or the military, believed to be involved in the secret manipulation or control of government policy.

Leaks. Organized resistance. Interagency confusion and sabotage. Unfounded allegations. Unrelenting personal smears. These things are more than just typical bureaucracy. They result from strategic power plays by factions deep within the government itself. Actions take place hidden from public view-often with media complicity to further their stories and claims.

Deep State often has the strategic cooperation of well-placed players within departments who leak, surveil, operate outside the law and advance an agenda -and oppose all those who stand in their way. Two examples of deep state activity within an administration are:

1. Deep state operations that cooperate within an Administration in order to hide more extreme policies and actions.

2. Deep state operations that seek to undermine, resist and thwart an Administration. Both are subversive, secretive, illegal, and evil. (Source: "The Deep State Problem"; An Intercessory Intel Report by Intercessors for America) PLEASE GO HERE TO READ ALL OF THIS REPORT.

Please note: we will provide a link to an updated version of this alert from IFA on Monday. Please be sure to access this at that time.

> > > Prayer points from IFA:

Take a moment to pray about hidden agendas and actions in our government intended to undermine, harm, derail, and subvert elected officials. Pray for plans to be uncovered, conspiracies revealed, and illegal acts prosecuted.

> > > A Prayer of REPENTANCE

Father God, we ask You to forgive us for not watching over our government more carefully in past years, so that these men and women, who have been given positions of authority, have instead infiltrated their offices and worked to weaken our nation. We repent that we have not been faithful to pray for those in authority and we acknowledge that we are now reaping the consequences of our neglect.

Spare us, O Lord, and have mercy upon us and rescue our nation. We ask this in Your name, amen.

"See, my enemies are fertile with evil. They conceive trouble and give birth to deception". (Psalm 7:14)

> > > A Prayer of FORGIVENESS

Lord, we ask You to forgive these traitors. We ask You to forgive each one for his or her evil ways of "governing," for they know not what they do. We ask that You would pierce the blindness in their hearts with the Glory of Your Holy Visitation, that they might repent and come to You for salvation. We ask this in Your Holy Name, amen.

Ask God to bring "light to the darkness" in our government and in positions of power involving our nation. Pray for the people on the reverse side who are alleged to be a part of deep state activities, and pray for those who are leading the effort to unveil them. Pray for our President and his Administration as they battle these efforts. Pray for truth, justice, and restoration of integrity in our government and leaders. Continue to pray about this struggle for power that is so obviously a spiritual issue.
> > > A Prayer of THANKSGIVING

Lord God, as we pray for and release our enemies, we thank You, too, for the promise of Your Word, because it is written:

"These also who erred in spirit will come to understanding, And those who complained will learn doctrine." (Isaiah 29:24)

> > > A Prayer of HEALING FOR OUR LAND

Father God, we claim this promise of Scripture for all who are working to support the Deep State, hence overthrowing our nation. As each one receives a new heart from You, our nation will know peace and be healed. Amen.
"Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." (Ezekiel 36:26)

Prayers and Presidents

Prayers and Presidents:

Our 32nd President: Franklin D. Roosevelt

[Each week, we will publish one prayer that was spoken by each of our presidents, in chronological order. Today's prayer was written by our 32nd President: Franklin D. Roosevelt]

Franklin D. Roosevelt's D-Day Prayer

On the night of June 6, 1944, President Roosevelt went on national radio to address the nation for the first time about the Normandy invasion. His speech took the form of a prayer.

As he spoke about this invasion against Hitler's Germany, Roosevelt's prayer ended with these words:

And, O Lord, give us Faith. Give us Faith in Thee; Faith in our sons; Faith in each other; Faith in our united crusade. Let not the keenness of our spirit ever be dulled. Let not the impacts of temporary events, of temporal matters of but fleeting moment let not these deter us in our unconquerable purpose.

With Thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy. Help us to conquer the apostles of greed and racial arrogancies. Lead us to the saving of our country, and with our sister Nations into a world unity that will spell a sure peace a peace invulnerable to the schemings of unworthy men. And a peace that will let all of men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil.

Thy will be done, Almighty God.
