"The waters saw You, O God; The waters saw You, they were afraid; The depths also trembled. The clouds poured out water; The skies sent out a sound;Your arrows also flashed about. The voice of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightnings lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook.Your way was in the sea,Your path in the great waters,And Your footsteps were not known. You led Your people like a flock By the hand of Moses and Aaron." Remembering 9/11

White House Pays Tribute to 9/11 Victims

On the 17th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, President Donald J. Trump and the First Lady attended an observance in Shanksville, Pennsylvania-the site of that day's fourth plane crash-"where a new Tower of Voices memorializes the victims of Flight 93," Caitlin Yilek writes.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted that 17 years ago, "we received a terrible reminder of the evil in our world. In the midst of horrific tragedy America stood strong."

Trump pays tribute to 9/11 victims and heroes in Shanksville: 'When America fought back'

President Trump, at a hushed ceremony in Shanksville, Pa., paid "solemn tribute" to the 40 passengers and crew members of Flight 93 who "stood up and defied the enemy" 17 years ago.

The president and first lady Melania Trump visited the hallowed site Tuesday to commemorate the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. They spoke after a new memorial to the victims was dedicated over the weekend.

"On September 11, 2001, a band of brave patriots turned the tide on our nation's enemies and joined the immortal ranks of American heroes," the president said. "At this memorial, on this sacred earth, in the field beyond this wall, and in the skies above our heads, we remember the moment when America fought back."
The 40 passengers and crew members of Flight 93 are believed to have prevented a larger attack by fighting back against the terrorists who hijacked the plane. The field in Shanksville, Pa. where the plane crashed, is just a 20-minute flight from the U.S. Capitol.

Trump, in a passionate address, honored the lives lost and their families, saying that their "tears are not shed alone, for they are shared grief with an entire nation."

"We honor their sacrifice by pledging to never flinch in the face of evil and to do whatever it takes to keep America safe," Trump said.

The president recalled the story of that day-passengers and crewmembers placing "their final calls home, whispering those eternal words, 'I love you.'"

"They bravely charged the cockpit. They attacked the enemy. They fought until the very end. And they stopped the forces of terror and defeated this wicked, horrible, evil plan," Trump said. "Through their sacrifice, the 40 saved the lives of countless Americans and they saved our Capitol from a devastating strike."

Trump called the field a "monument to American defiance," with the new memorial sharing a "message to the world-America will never submit to tyranny." "As commander in chief, I will always do everything in my power to prevent terrorists from striking American soil," Trump said. "17 years ago, 40 incredible men and women showed the whole world that no force on earth will ever conquer the American spirit . . . We treasure their memory and legacy."
The new Shanksville memorial is called "The Tower of Voices," which stands 93 feet tall. The tower holds 40 wind chimes to honor the 40 victims of Flight 93. (Fox News) Read more and view the new "Tower of Voices" memorial here.

1. Palestinians to Consider Severing Israel Ties, Erekat Says - Bloomberg

The Palestinian Authority vowed to reconsider its cooperation with Israel as it again accused the U.S. of taking sides in the stalled Middle East peace process. Senior Palestinian official Saeb Erekat told reporters in Ramallah that the full range of political, economic and security ties would be reassessed in the wake of the Trump administration's decision on Monday to shut the Palestinian mission in Washington.

2. Iran threatens Israel - Israel National News

Iranian nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi implicitly threatened Israel in an interview with the Associated Press Tuesday.

Addressing the assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists, as well as the Stutnex computer virus which set back Iran's nuclear program, both of which have been blamed on Israel, Salehi said: "I hope that they will not commit a similar mistake again because the consequences would be, I think, harsh."

Salehi said that he hoped the 2015 nuclear deal would survive despite the withdrawal of the US and the re-imposition of sanctions on Iran.

"I think [Trump] is on the loser's side because he is pursuing the logic of power," Salehi said. "He thinks that he can, you know, continue for some time but certainly I do not think he will benefit from this withdrawal, certainly not."

3. After US shuts PLO mission, Abbas said to mull severing last ties with Trump - Times of Israel

The Palestinian Authority is considering cutting its last ties with the US government, including crucial security cooperation, after a series of steps by the Trump administration against the Palestinians, including shuttering the PLO office in Washington, Israel's Channel 10 news reported Tuesday.

Officials close to PA President Mahmoud Abbas were quoted by Channel 10 saying that the American measures, which also included cutting aid to the UN refugee agency that deals with Palestinians and funding to Palestinian hospitals in East Jerusalem, could lead to an upsurge of violence in the region.

"Ties between the PA and Trump have deteriorated to so unprecedented a nadir" that Ramallah is considering severing all remaining contacts, the TV report said, quoting the PA officials.

4. US Special Envoy Jason Greenblatt Details Thinking Behind Israeli-Palestinian Peace Plan - Algemeiner

JNS.org - Tasked by US President Donald Trump to help reach the "deal of the century," Jason Greenblatt, who serves as one of Trump's top Middle East envoys, has a herculean task before him: to help negotiate the peace plan between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Along with Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner, Greenblatt - whose official title is assistant to the president and special representative for international negotiations - has been the face of the Trump administration's efforts to roll out a comprehensive plan for Mideast peace. He has traveled numerous times to the region over the past 18 months, often meeting with top officials from Israel and the Arab world to gauge the situation.

The son of Hungarian Jewish refugees, Greenblatt has had a longstanding relationship with Trump, serving as executive vice president and chief legal officer to the Trump organization prior to him taking office. A lawyer by trade, Greenblatt is a relative newcomer to the world of diplomacy, especially when it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which has befuddled its share of Middle East experts and US senior diplomats over the decades.

Ahead of Rosh Hashanah, Greenblatt speaks with JNS reporter Josh Hasten about current bonds with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel, the rocky relationship with Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas, other regional powers at play, and the complex and uncertain prospects for peace.

5. Speaker at UK Labour conference reportedly called to kill Israeli MKs - Times of Israel

A woman scheduled to speak at a UK Labour Party conference later this month once called for attacks against the Knesset and Israeli lawmakers, The Times reported Tuesday.

According to the report Ewa Jasiewicz, 40, a British-Polish anti-Israel activist, is scheduled to speak about the future of trade unions at the Momentum festival organized alongside Labour's annual conference. Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, who reportedly called her a "good friend," is also scheduled to speak.

The Times said it had unearthed a report from Jasiewicz, written in 2002 when she was living and working in Jenin in the West Bank at the height of the Second Intifada, in which she suggested that terror groups should attack Israeli MKs instead of civilians.

1. Dangerous Category 4 Hurricane Florence likely to stall and pound Carolinas, Virginia for days - AccuWeather

At this time, AccuWeather Founder and President Dr. Joel N. Myers estimates the Hurricane Florence financial toll will reach $30 billion, due to the extensive damage and flooding anticipated. States of emergency have been declared in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Maryland in preparation for Florence's arrival.

AccuWeather meteorologists believe that Florence will reach the Carolina or Virginia coasts and pose a serious threat to lives and property late this week. There is the potential for Florence to stall or significantly reduce its forward speed as it nears the coast, which could prolong the effects of damaging winds, storm surge flooding and beach erosion. A stall or slow forward speed would also greatly enhance inland flooding of streams and rivers.

"There's never been a storm like Florence. It was located farther north in the Atlantic than any other storm to ever hit the Carolinas, so what we're forecasting is unprecedented. Also, most storms coming into the Carolinas tend to move northward, and this storm looks like it's going to stall over the region and potentially bring tremendous, life-threatening flooding," AccuWeather Vice President of Forecasting and Graphics Operations Marshall Moss said. (Read more)

- Father, we acknowledge Your sovereignty - the winds and the waves are at Your command. This hurricane Florence, which means "flourishing, prosperous" is being used by the enemy to destroy investments and livelihoods. We ask You to have mercy upon our nation and turn this storm out to sea.

- He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. (Matthew 8:26)

2. 'Silent Donation': Corporate Emails Reveal Google Executives' Efforts to Turn Out Latino Voters Who They Thought Would Vote for Clinton - Breitbart

An email chain among senior Google executives from the day after the 2016 presidential election reveals the company tried to influence the 2016 United States presidential election on behalf of one candidate, Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton. The main email, headlined, "Election results and the Latino vote," was sent on Nov. 9, 2016-the day after Clinton's loss to Trump in the 2016 presidential election-by Eliana Murillo, Google's Multicultural Marketing department head.

The four page email begins with Murillo claiming she and others at Google were engaged in non-partisan activities not designed to help any one candidate or another-only to undercut her own commentary in later passages in the emails by openly admitting the entire effort to boost Latino turnout using Google products with official company resources was to elect Clinton over Trump. This email leaked to Fox News and Breitbart News and is now likely to become a centerpiece in the case that Google is throwing its weight around to interfere in elections in the United States in a partisan manner against the duly elected President of the United States.

President Trump and Republicans have just begun scratching the surface of bias against them among Silicon Valley's elite, including, perhaps foremost alongside Facebook, from Google. A source close to the White House who has reviewed these emails ahead of their public release told Breitbart News that in a just world this would amount to, at a minimum, a clear violation of campaign finance law governing in-kind contributions to campaigns and causes. (Read more)

- Father, we pray the Federal Election Commission will look into all the ways social media companies are using their platforms to influence potential voters towards certain candidates and away from others.

- Break the arm of the wicked man; call the evildoer to account for his wickedness that would not otherwise be found out. (Psalm 10:15)

3. New Strzok-Page Texts Show FBI/DOJ Coordinated 'Media Leak Strategy' to Hurt Trump - CNS News

Meadows said the newly released texts from former FBI Agent Peter Strzok to former FBI attorney Lisa Page suggest a "coordinated effort" by FBI and Justice Department officials to leak information potentially harmful to President Donald Trump's administration. In a letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein on Monday, Meadows released the following April 2017 text exchanges, saying they would lead a "reasonable person" to question whether the FBI's goal was to investigate wrongdoing - or to place derogatory information in the media to justify the ongoing Trump-Russia probe.

Meadows noted that while Strzok and Page were texting about media leaks on April 10-12, 2017, the Washington Post broke a story on the Carter Page FISA application on April 11 - "setting off a flurry of articles suggesting connections between President Trump and Russia." According to Meadows: "Other documents indicate DOJ officials, specifically Andrew Weissmann [now part of the Mueller team] participated in unauthorized conversations with the media during this same time period." - Father, Your children strive for the truth, but the children of the enemy spread lies. We pray the cabal of government insiders, media enablers and those who finance their schemes will be held accountable for what they have done.

- You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44)

4. 'It's Time to Change the Culture in Washington': GOP Launches Plan to Make Individual Tax Cuts Permanent - CBN News

With midterm elections looming on the horizon, House Republicans have introduced a package of bills that would, among other things, make their individual tax cuts permanent. Under last year's $1.5 trillion tax cut, the corporate tax rate was permanently lowered from 35 percent to 21 percent. Individual tax rates, however, were scheduled to expire at the end of 2025. The law was written that way to accommodate budget rules so it could pass with just a simple majority since no Democrats supported it.

"Last year, we said goodbye to America's old, broken tax code," House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) said while introducing the new bill. In addition to individual tax cuts, the legislation would also make other provisions permanent, like the increased standard deductions, rates for pass-through income, child tax credit, and caps on state and local tax deductions. "It's time to change the culture in Washington where we only do tax reform once a generation," the Texas lawmaker said. "This legislation is our commitment to the American worker to ensure our tax code remains the most competitive in the world." House Republicans could start working on the new measure this week, and it could get a vote on the House floor by the end of the month. However, the measure has very little chance of passing the Senate before this fall's midterm elections. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for the unexpected - that this bill to make the tax cuts permanent will pass both houses of Congress and be signed by the President.

- Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8)

5. Trump Keeps Campaign Promise to Scale Back Size of EPA - Washington Examiner

President Donald Trump is keeping a campaign promise to reduce the size of the Environmental Protection Agency, according to the agency's recent employment numbers. Records show that in the first 18 months of the Trump administration, over 1,600 workers left the EPA and less than 400 were hired. This is an 8 percent decrease in the agency's employment size, the Washington Post reports.

EPA Acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler said that almost half of all agency employees will be eligible for retirement in the next five years. He went on to say, "My priority is recruiting and maintaining the right staff, the right people for our mission, rather than total full-time employees." In January, an agency administrator told the Washington Examiner, "It would be fair to say anywhere from 25 to 47 percent of EPA could retire during this administration."

The EPA is not the only department that has seen staff cuts under Trump. The State Department's permanent employee numbers fell by nearly 6.5 percent in the first 14 months of the administration. The Education Department's numbers fell by nearly 9.5 percent in the same period. (Read more)

- Father, many of these federal employees have proved themselves unworthy of oversight and political power. We pray each person within our federal government who has abused their power will be removed by the Trump Administration.

- Remove wicked officials from the king's presence, and his throne will be established through righteousness. (Proverbs 25:5)

6. Report: Obama climate change aides in shadow 'cabinet' to thwart Trump - Washington Examiner

A shadow government made up of former Obama climate change aides and funded by wealthy environmental advocates is supplementing liberal governors in an "off-the-books" operation to help them win approval of sweeping global warming changes and defy President Trump, according to a new investigative report.

In it's "Government for Rent" report, the Competitive Enterprise Institute published dozens of emails detailing the scheme and the efforts by governments to have the activists draw up official state climate change agenda paid for by private donations.

"The modus operandi revealed in the documents excerpted in this report entails seeding local and statewide elected offices with privately funded in-house staff members (governors' staffs called them 'refugees' from the Obama administration). The objective is to house former National Security Council and State Department appointees to, as one email put it, 'resume shaping the U.S. position on' the energy and climate change agenda," said the report.(Read more)

- Father, we ask You to rebuke these wicked men and women. Humble them, so they may see the error of their ways.

- The arrogance of man will be brought low and human pride humbled; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day, and the idols will totally disappear. (Isaiah 2:17-18)

7. Illegal immigrants cited in theft of 39 million Social Security numbers - Washington Examiner

Nearly 40 million Social Security numbers have been stolen and used by illegal immigrants and others to get work, according to agency records obtained by an immigration reform group. The Immigration Reform Law Institute said that from 2012 to 2016 there were "39 million instances where names and Social Security numbers on W-2 tax forms did not match the corresponding Social Security records."

The group said that there is a "thriving black market" used by illegal immigrants to get Social Security numbers needed to get a job. Their report draws attention to a move by former President Barack Obama to stop sending so-called "no match" letters to employers notifying them that numbers used by employees on the wage forms do not match their identity.

"The Social Security numbers of young children are especially sought by illegal aliens, as this theft is likely to go undetected for years. As children reach late teenage years and apply for credit for cars, student loans, and other needs, they may find that their credit has been compromised with mortgages, credit cards and criminal records attached to their identities," said the group.

"This investigation shines a light on the depth of America's problems as a result of allowing illegal aliens into the country," said Dale L. Wilcox, executive director and general counsel of IRLI. "It also debunks the idea that being in the country illegally is a victimless crime. Millions of Americans, in many cases children, are having their identities stolen to enable even more criminal activity. Illegal aliens should not reap Social Security benefits that result from the commission of identity theft." (Read more)

- Father, the legacy of the Obama administration is lawlessness and chaos. Help our nation sort out those who are abusing the Social Security system and committing identity fraud.

- Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.
(1 John 3:4)

8. Small Business Optimism Soars to Highest Level Ever - Breitbart

The optimism of American small business owners soared to the highest level on the records in August. The National Federation of Independent Business Small Business Optimism Index jumped to 108.8 in August, setting a new record in the survey's 45-year history. The previous record was set in July 1983.

"Today's groundbreaking numbers are demonstrative of what I'm hearing every day from small business owners - that business is booming. As the tax and regulatory landscape changed, so did small business expectations and plans," said NFIB President and CEO Juanita D. Duggan.

Businesses are seeing better sales, with a net 10 percent reporting higher nominal sales in the past three months compared to the prior three months, up two points. August is the ninth consecutive strong month of reported sales gains after years of low or negative numbers, according to the NFIB.

The net percent of business owners planning to build inventories rose six points to a record net 10 percent. Reports of positive profit trends rose to the second highest reading in the survey's 45-year history. The share of small business owners saying it is a good time to expand tied the May 2018 all-time high. (Read more)

- Father, thank You for good news! We pray for the continued prosperity of our people and the resources to sow into Your Kingdom purpose for our nation.

- But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. (Luke 8:15)

9. China to send strategic bombers, fighter jets for war games in Russia - South China Morning Post

China's air force will send strategic bombers, fighter jets and transport aircraft to take part in war games in Russia this month, as Beijing tries to boost defense ties with Moscow.

Among the Chinese military aircraft at the International Army Games on July 28 will be H-6K bombers, which have carried out patrols around the South China Sea and Taiwan Strait. Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Iran will also join the exercises.

Yue Gang, a retired People's Liberation Army colonel, said China's main aim in joining the drills was to find out more about the strengths and weaknesses of its aircraft. "It is really difficult to know how big the gap is between the Chinese aircraft and the ones used by overseas air forces without joining overseas exercises like this," he said. "So the aim is to learn from the advanced bombers of Russia."

Collin Koh, a maritime security expert at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, said the PLA Air Force was now playing a bigger role in China's strategic defense, and the H-6K was a crucial part of its development. Koh added that it would be seen as China trying to emphasize its growing military power by those involved in regional territorial disputes such as over the South China Sea, while for others it may be seen as Beijing's latest bid to assert itself. (Read more)

- Father, help our intelligence agencies correctly discern the true meaning of these military exercises and the implications for our national security.

- When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it, we all returned to the wall, each to our own work. (Nehemiah 4:15)

10. Trump receives 'warm' letter from Kim about new summit - OFC

US President Donald Trump has received a letter from North Korea's Kim Jong-un asking for a follow-up to their historic summit earlier this year. The US says it is already looking at scheduling a new meeting. White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said the "very warm" letter showed Pyongyang's "continued commitment to focus on denuclearization".

"The primary purpose of the letter was to request and look to schedule another meeting with the president, which we are open to and are already in the process of co-ordinating that," Ms Sanders said. But she praised the letter as "very warm, very positive" and praised North Korea's military parade last weekend, saying that "for once was not about their nuclear arsenal". She attributed that to the "tremendous success" of Mr Trump's policies.

While North Korea did roll out soldiers, tanks and other weaponry, the parade did not display any intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) at the parade marking its 70th anniversary, reports say. Mr Trump himself thanked the North Korean leader via Twitter, saying the parade was "a big and very positive statement from North Korea." (Read more)

- Father, we continue to lift up the people of North Korea and pray for their freedom, peace and salvation.

- How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!" (Isaiah 52:7)

17 Years after 911 and the prophetic path of America

I am sitting in my office 17 years after al Qaeda operatives ran two planes into the World Trade Center towers, one plane into the Pentagon, and another was downed in a Pennsylvania field before it could do more damage. The result, nearly 3,000 American citizens met an untimely and brutal death. And where are we today? We have lost thousands of lives conquering and "giving democracy" to people who hate us; We have spent trillions trying to root out the terrorists; we have had two presidents who have tried to appease Islam, resulting in Islam colonizing America. To this point, the current president is being fought fiercely by the pro-Islamist Marxists as he tries to reverse this trend.

America is not mentioned in the Bible. There is no such word, nor nation. A good portion of the Bible is prophetically aimed at the first coming of the Messiah, his life, death and resurrection for the propitiation of our sins, and his second coming in the "Last Day," the "latter days," and "the end." I have often thought that America was a tremendous blessing, a beacon of the light of the Messiah, an evangelist to the world. Our time as a nation has served God's purpose. We have been a defender of Israel, a most valuable player in the Great Commission: "Go ye therefore and teach all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:19)."

"We the People" are about enter mid term elections. Our choices for Congress are to be made for the future of our nation. We should try to align our voting with the candidate that best fits our Christian values. Keep in mind, anyone who says there is more than one way to heaven rejects the central doctrine of Christianity. Anyone who says "Jesus" is a great example to live by, but denies the deity of Christ, is not a Christian. Notwithstanding, we as a people need to exercise our right to vote. We need to build upon what we accomplished two years ago. Otherwise this nation will backslide farther and faster than in previous times-like the unclean spirit Christ describes in Matthew 12:44 that came out of a man, but went back, "bringing seven other spirits more evil than itself."

Because of the actions of America's leaders in the past, the antichrist system of Islam advanced. There is not a more antichrist religion on earth than Islam. Islamic nations are the only ones specifically mentioned in the Bible as coming against Israel and God in the end times. Islam has cost Americans their freedom, their sons and daughters, and we continues to fight a decades long war of attrition, the casualties mounting economically, emotionally and spiritually. At the same time, many elected representatives continue to assist the advance of Islam at the expense of America. In the 17 years after 9/11, America has been on a dangerous prophetic path. Fortunately, we now have at least a president who stands up to Islam and that may alter America's prophetic path.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Pray for First Responders

Pray for First Responders

By Dave and Kim Butts

We believe the vast majority of the U.S. population appreciates and honors those trained to provide crisis-situation help-protection, medical care, or rescue. Yet we also witness our authorities under attack. Growing misunderstandings and distrust can severely affect our first responders. In a day of global unrest and terrorism it is important that we pray for our police, fire, and medical response teams.

Strategic Prayers Here are ten ways to bless and cover our first responders in prayer. Each point includes Scriptures and a prayer. We encourage you to develop your own prayers based on both the verses and the written prayers.

(Example)

1. Give thanks to the Lord for those who often put their lives on the line for others.

Peter 4:11: "If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ."

Colossians 1:3: "We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you."

Father, we are so blessed to have men and women who work diligently for our safety and well-being, even when their jobs are difficult and often thankless. Help us remember to thank You for their sacrifices and service to our community. May we touch heaven with prayers of gratitude whenever we see or personally encounter first responders. Give them the strength that You provide so that as they serve, You will be honored.

9/11 at Seventeen

9/11 at Seventeen

September 11, 2018

In the 17 years since 9/11, an entire generation of Americans has grown up without stories of where they were that day. These are the kids who experienced the tragedy through history books -- pictures of the Statue of Liberty wreathed in smoke and stories of heroes racing into collapsing buildings to save people they'd never met. Online, they might have seen clips of the giant flag unfurling over the Pentagon, or the video of a president standing on a pile of rubble, vowing to make the terrorists pay.

These are the children who never knew the White House without barricades or got off an airplane into the outstretched arms of family waiting right at the gate. What they do know is life in a country that feels safe. The millions of us who watched planes erupt like fireballs in the twin towers wondered if that day would ever come again. Almost two decades into the new world that 9/11 built, we go about our days with so much certainty -- even more so now, under an administration that rebuilt the military, drove back ISIS, and broadcast America's resolve. Since President Trump, we haven't seen the San Bernardinos, the Chattanoogas, homegrown attacks on U.S. soil.

Part of that, the Heritage Foundation explains, is because the U.S. dramatically changed the way it approached terrorism. "This system will not stop all terrorism," David Inserra pointed out, "no system is or ever will be perfect -- but it has stopped 87 out of 104 Islamist terror plots and made it much harder for terrorists to carry out large, complex attacks." And the U.S. isn't the only one making a more concerted effort to stop extremists. In 2017, the University of Maryland found, "global terror attacks and fatalities decreased [as much as] 24 percent."

Under Trump, Americans are more reassured than ever. In a new Rasmussen poll, voters are "more confident than they have been in years that the country is safer today than it was before those attacks." The survey found that 47 percent of likely voters think the U.S. is safer today than it was before the 9/11 terrorist attacks" -- a 16-percent jump from last year, and "the highest level of confidence in the nation's safety in six years."

Of course, there is a danger in becoming complacent. We still have a porous border -- and despite our best intentions, radicals are quietly making their way onto American soil. "Children are being used by some of the worst criminals on earth as a means to enter our country," the president warned over the summer. "Has anyone been looking at the crime taking place south of the border? It is historic, with some countries the most dangerous places in the world." Refugees streamed into America under Barack Obama, many without the simplest of background checks. Evil men still chant death to our country. The threats are as real as ever.
In an election year, when all eyes are on the future, it's easy to overlook the past. But 9/11 is another reminder of how much is at stake this November. Our military families know it. The survivors of that horrible day know it. And the enemies of this nation know it. "The faith of our nation may have been tested in the avenues of New York City, on the shores of the Potomac, and in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania," the president said, "but our strength never faltered, and our resilience never wavered." Seventeen years later, there's no better way to honor the thousands of men and women who lost their lives for being American than protecting the principles that make our country great. 9/11 Remembrance in Israel

9/11 Memorial Ceremony Held in Jerusalem:

Americans and Israelis "Stand Together"

The memorial ceremony took place at the only 9/11 memorial outside the United States-a 30-foot-high bronze sculpture created by Israeli artist Eliezer Weishoff and landscape architect Yechiel Cohen.

It depicts "the American flag folded into the shape of a memorial flame; a metal shard from the ruins of the Twin Towers is incorporated into the base of the monument, which overlooks a magnificent vista of the Jerusalem Hills and the Arazim Valley," according to a joint press release from the embassy, the Jewish National Fund (JNF-USA) and Keren Kayemet LeIsrael-Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF).

"In this beautiful plaza, at this inspiring location, we remind the families of those lost, and we confirm to people everywhere, that we stand together-Americans and Israelis-and that together we continue to heal and to build, in a spirit of solidarity and commitment to the future," said U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.
"This monument holds with it a commitment to all the victims, survivors and their families," said KKL-JNF vice chairman Yair Lootsteen. "It is a commitment to plant and grow, in a place where some wished to disrupt, uproot and tear apart. Here we choose, each year, to take an oath in the name of those who have lost their lives-to do all we can to build a better future for the next generations."
JNF-USA chief Israel officer Eric Michaelson said "the 9/11 Living Memorial stands as a bright beacon of the shared values and brotherhood of both our nations; as we look past even the darkest times and remain standing together, giving each other the strength to continue building a better world for the future."

Classic Hymns

SOFTLY AND TENDERLY JESUS IS CALLING

When Jesus heard him, he stopped and said, "Tell him to come here."
So they called the blind man. "Cheer up," they said. "Come on, he's calling you!"
(Mark 10:49)

Lyrics

Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling-
Calling for you and for me;
Patiently Jesus is waiting and watching-
Watching for you and for me!

Refrain:

Come home! come home!
Ye who are weary, come home!
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!

Refrain

Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading-
Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies-
Mercies for you and for me?

Refrain

Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing-
Passing from you and from me;
Shadows are gathering, death-beds are coming-
Coming for you and for me!

Refrain

Oh, for the wonderful love He has promised-
Promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon-
Pardon for you and for me!

Refrain

Words and Melody: Will Lamartine Thompson, 1880

About the Hymn:

Will Thompson was inspired to devote himself to writing while attending a meeting by popular evangelist Dwight L. Moody (1837-1899). When Moody was dying in the hospital he told Thompson, "Will, I would rather have written 'Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling' than anything I have been able to do in my whole life."

"Softly and Tenderly" has been recorded by artists such as Amy Grant, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood, Kelly Clarkson, Johnny Cash, and Alan Jackson. The hymn was also used during the memorial service for Martin Luther King Jr. on April 8, 1968.

Signs and Wonders

Hurricane Florence threatens to unleash catastrophic inland flooding in Carolinas, Virginias

With the potential for Florence's forward speed to slow and possibly stall, a current forecast of feet of rain would lead to catastrophic flash flooding and major river flooding in parts of the Carolinas, Virginia and possibly other neighboring states.

In general, most of hurricane damage and loss of life occurs not on the coast, but from flooding as the result of heavy rain. In all likelihood, this will be the case with Hurricane Florence as well, according to AccuWeather President and Founder Dr. Joel N. Myers.

"There could be devastating floods well in from the coast back in the hills and mountains of North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia," Myers said.

"I Cannot and Will Not Compromise":
Students Refuse Orders to Spray Paint Over the Name of Christ on Football Field

A lawsuit against the school filed by Americans United for Separation of Church and State alleges "widespread use of prayer on school property, during school events, in classrooms at all levels, at sporting events, at graduation ceremonies, during awards assemblies, and at student government meetings."

(Bossier City, LA)-Just hours before the Benton High School football team ran onto the field last Friday-two students were ordered to remove a logo from the end zone because it included a cross, a Bible verse and the word "Christ."

"You have to stand up for Christ no matter what (and we) just told the coaches we wouldn't do it," one of the students wrote on social media. "We ended up leaving the field and not helping them cover up the Scripture that was put on the field."

The logo belonged to Christ Fit Gym, a faith-based gymnasium in nearby Bossier City, Louisiana. It included the words "Christ Fit Gym," a cross and a Bible verse reference, 1 Timothy 4:8.

Owner Billy Weatherall tells me he paid the high school football booster club $3,500 to put his logo in the end zone for the 2018-19 football season.

"We have a signed contract," he told the Todd Starnes Radio Show. (Todd Starnes) Read more.

About CHPP

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
