Hurricane Dorian's Timing

Hurricane Dorian's Timing: What to Expect in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas Day-by-Day
-- Dorian will pass very near or offshore from the East Coast this week.
-- Here's the timing of potential impacts through late this week. Hurricane Dorian will make a prolonged crawl near or offshore from the East Coast of the United States through late-week. Below is a breakdown of the timing for potential impacts from the hurricane, the severity of which will depend on how close it tracks to the coast.
Wednesday: Dorian will move north-northwest off the coasts of northeast Florida and Georgia. Coastal flooding will worsen along the Georgia and South Carolina coasts, particularly at high tide. Battering waves will lead to beach erosion as large swells impact the coast up to North Carolina. Damaging winds are possible in the hurricane-warned areas in Florida, and possible in hurricane-warned areas of the Carolinas by night. Local rainfall flooding is also a threat.
Thursday: The center of Dorian is expected to pass near the South Carolina coast. A landfall of the center in South Carolina can't be ruled out, which would bring the most damaging winds and storm-surge flooding. However, these impacts will also occur even if Dorian's center does not make a landfall. Heavy rain will also lead to flooding in this area. Coastal flooding, wind and rain flooding will worsen in eastern North Carolina, especially in southeast North Carolina, but will also spread to the Virginia Tidewater and the southern Delmarva Peninsula Thursday night.
Friday: Dorian's center will track near, if not make a landfall over, eastern North Carolina bringing storm surge flooding, potentially damaging winds and flooding rain as far north as southeast Virginia. By Friday night, the center of Dorian will move into the Atlantic Ocean, with improving conditions in North Carolina and southeast Virginia.
Saturday: Dorian may track close enough to bring a period of rain and some wind to southeast New England before it quickly races toward parts of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland later in the weekend.

To Summarize:
- Dorian's outer rainbands are lashing coastal parts of the Southeast.
- Hurricane and storm surge warnings are posted from Florida's east coast to eastern North Carolina.
- Conditions will worsen along the Georgia and South Carolina coasts Wednesday.
- Peak impacts will arrive in North Carolina and southeastern Virginia Thursday into Friday.
- Dorian could then strike Atlantic Canada as a post-tropical storm this weekend.

1. Israel said again mulling raid on Iran; thinks Trump, unlike Obama, won't oppose - Times Of Israel
Israeli officials are currently considering the possibility of conducting a military strike on Iran, with or without the approval of the United States, The New York Times reported Wednesday. They believe US President Donald Trump could decide not to stand in the way of such an attack, unlike his predecessor Barack Obama, the paper reported Wednesday in an exposé that detailed the lows and highs of the Israel-US relationship in the face-off against the Islamic Republic over the past decade.
"Once again, more than a decade after they first raised the subject with American officials, Israeli officials have been considering the possibility of a unilateral strike against Iran," said the report. "Unlike with Bush and Obama, there is greater confidence that Trump wouldn't stand in the way."
The report, "The Secret History of the Push to Strike Iran," which focused on Israeli-US efforts to prevent Iran from attaining nuclear weapons, did not specify which targets Israel was now said to be contemplating attacking. It noted that "hawks in Israel and America have spent more than a decade agitating for war against the Islamic Republic's nuclear program," and asked: "Will Trump finally deliver?"
"The threat of war could be a bluff, or an election ploy," it added. "But it also represents a dangerous confluence of interests: an American president often reluctant to use military force and an Israeli prime minister looking to deal with unfinished business."

2. Hundreds of thousands in northern Israel without protection from missiles - YNET News
A recent report depicts an ominous situation in which hundreds of thousands of people living in northern Israel have no way to protect themselves in the event of a missile attack, other than lying down on the ground and sheltering themselves with their hands.
The report was published by the Israel Builders Association and was based off data provided by the Central Bureau of Statistics. It paints a grim picture of the state of fortification of residential homes in northern Israel, where more than 800,000 civilians don't have a bomb shelter or a secure space.
The analysis was published in the wake of recent events on the Lebanese border, which have heightened the fear of escalation in violence against Hezbollah, peaking on Sunday when Hezbollah fired several anti-tank missiles at an IDF base in the area of Moshav Avivim.
While the government approved a NIS 5 billion security plan a year ago, nothing happened in practice. As a result of the heightened tensions on the Lebanese border, local leaders in northern Israel are demanding the government implement the stalled fortification program.

3. Likud minister, Knesset speaker call for extending Israeli sovereignty to Hebron - Times Of Israel
Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein and Culture Minister Miri Regev of the Likud party on Wednesday called for the application of Israeli sovereignty to the West Bank city of Hebron.
Speaking at a ceremony marking the 90-year anniversary of the 1929 Hebron massacre, in which Arab rioters killed 67 Jewish residents, Edelstein voted to "turn it into a full-blown city of Israel."
"The time has come for the Jewish settlement in Hebron to grow to thousands of residents," he said.

4. Netanyahu pledges to "stay in Hebron forever" - Israel Hayom
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a rare visit to Hebron on Tuesday, vowing that "we will stay here forever."
Netanyahu spoke at the main event in memory of the Jewish residents of Hebron who were killed by Arab rioters in 1929. This year's 90th anniversary is of particular significance, as it is marked in the midst of a general election campaign.
"Our bond to Hebron is ancient and dates to our earliest period as a nation," Netanyahu said, against the backdrop of the Cave of the Patriarchs. "The barbaric attack on the Jews ended with a horrific result: murder, rape, slaughter, vandalizing of Torah scrolls . . . but we should also commend the Arabs who helped us, even though a total of 67 Jews were murdered in the riots, and the Jewish presence in Hebron was brought to an end."

5. Lebanese PM: Hezbollah is a regional problem - Israel National News
Lebanon and its government are not to blame for Hezbollah and its recent attacks on Israeli territory, Lebanon's Prime Minister Saad Hariri insisted in an interview with CNBC.
"Look, Hezbollah is not a Lebanese problem - only - it is a regional problem," Hariri said in the wide-ranging interview which aired on Tuesday.
"Israel wants to have ... this scenario that Lebanon is responsible, with what [Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu says, and if you want to buy it, buy it. But he knows and the international community knows that this is not true," he added.
Hezbollah earlier this week attacked Israeli military targets in northern Israel. No one was injured.

1. 'Decimated. Apocalyptic': First Views Emerge of Bahamas Devastation as Dorian Marches up East Coast - CBN News
The first tragic views are emerging of the devastation Hurricane Dorian unleashed on the Bahamas. It killed at least seven people, but that death toll is expected to rise because the storm has finally moved on and officials can start to assess what happened there. Now the eastern US is bracing for this still dangerous storm.
Authorities have asked two million people in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas to evacuate. Even if Dorian doesn't make landfall in the US, it could bring storm surge and severe flooding.
In low-lying Charleston, South Carolina, authorities are racing to move hospital patients to higher ground. In Savannah, Georgia, they have provided buses for families to get out. By Thursday or Friday, Dorian could make a direct hit on North Carolina. (Read more)

2. Obama, Biden Briefed on Private Trump Meeting Before Comey Fed Details to FBI Team Investigating Russia Collusion - Breitbart
A key revelation in the report released last week by the Justice Department's inspector general raises questions about the roles played by Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Susan Rice and other senior members of the Obama administration in FBI Director James Comey's infamous classified briefing to then President-elect Donald Trump about the anti-Trump dossier.
FBI members on Comey's team discussed the need to memorialize the exchanges between Comey and Trump during the private January 6, 2017 briefing in Trump Tower just in case Trump made statements relevant to the agency's controversial Russia probe. In other words, they plotted to stealthily use statements Trump said to Comey in a private briefing to inform their Russia collusion investigation.
He also immediately provided a "quick download" of the Trump briefing to members of "Crossfire Hurricane" - the FBI's compartmentalized Russia collusion team - via a secured video conference. [This] revelation raises questions about what Obama, Biden, Rice and other Obama-era officials knew about the intent to use the planned briefing to fuel the questionable Russia investigation and surreptitiously pass the contents of the private talk to the FBI [and the media]. -Father, we pray all actions taken to hamper or harm President Trump throughout his candidacy, transition, and administration will be fully exposed.
-May my accusers perish in shame; may those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace. (Psalm 71:13)
3. The Left Has a $500 Million Dark Money 'ATM Machine' Called Arabella - Breitbart
A largely unknown, massively funded strategy company pushing the interests of wealthy leftist donors has been quietly behind a hydra-like dark money network of pop-up groups designed to look like grassroots activist organizations. These front groups push everything from opposition to President Trump's proposed border wall to support for Obamacare to gun control to government control of the Internet to pro-abortion activism and other leftwing causes.
The secretive Arabella Advisors may be one of the most impactful and sophisticated leftist funding outfits that you never heard of, a centralized hub that runs nonprofit arms that evidence the common theme of more government control in the lives of Americans. Arabella's vast network was unmasked in an extensive exposé by conservative watchdog Capital Research Center.
The Arabella firm manages four nonprofits: the New Venture Fund, Sixteen Thirty Fund, Windward Fund, and Hopewell Fund. Arabella's nonprofits spent a combined $1.16 billion from 2013-2017 alone with the aim of advancing "the political policies desired by wealthy left-wing interests through hundreds of 'front' groups," according to the report. 4. Ilhan Omar feels the heat - PowerLine
Of all the scandals in which Ilhan Omar is enmeshed, one might think the Daily Mail's revelation this past July of her affair with political consultant Tim Mynett would be the least of them. The news last week of Beth Mynett's divorce filing, however, has begun to disillusion a Somali community that has taken Omar at face value. Omar's denial of the affair is a lie that is both obvious and bald-faced.
In the past three weeks I have circled back to interview sources whom I have found to be highly reliable in the Omar saga. They open a window onto the scandals from the perspective of Ahmed Hirsi, her long-time partner and the father of her three children.
According to sources, Hirsi is telling friends that he will not go to jail for Omar; that while Omar did indeed marry her brother (Ahmed Elmi) for fraudulent purposes, Hirsi did not know at the time that she had married Elmi; that Omar is threatening Hirsi he would be in trouble along with her if the truth were to come out; that Omar has asked him to state publicly that all is well with their marriage even though it is completely done and finished; and that in fact they are living apart and have been divorced under Islamic law (although they remain legally married). Father, we lift up Ilhan Omar and pray she come to a place of sincere repentance, having a transformative experience with Your Son. We also pray for her family to find comfort and restoration through You.
-Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. (Hebrews 10:22)
5. Why Are So Many House Republicans Retiring? - Rush Limbaugh
Have you noted all the Republican members of Congress that are again retiring? I think one of the reasons we lost the House in 2018 is that there were a huge number of Republicans who retired. Now, we were told the reason was, "Well, they're being term limited out of their committee chairmanships, Mr. Limbaugh, and they don't want to go back to just being regular members of the House."
You know what I think's going on? I think the Democrats are finding dirt, and they're going to these Republicans, and they're saying, "Do you want people to know about this? We are glad to publicize this about you."
"Oh, no, no. No, no! Please don't."
"Well, okay. Then you gotta retire." Now, I can't prove it, -- and some of it may be legitimate. I mean, people retiring after ten years, they may think it's enough. It's five terms.
But it's a lot of power to be giving up. It just seems to be that these retirements are predominantly Republican, and it's all happening under the radar. You hear about another retirement here, retirement there. They never add up in your mind. They're all indiscriminate, little isolated stories -- and what's odd? Nothing's odd about somebody retiring from Congress. But it seems there's an exorbitant number of Republicans doing so, and I just have my suspicions about it. That's all. (Read more)

6. 5 U.S. industries hit hardest by Trump's latest China tariffs - CBS News
More than $100 billion of about $300 billion in new U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports took effect this week, with the rest due to hit in December. By year's end, nearly every good imported from China will be taxed by the U.S. government - about $550 billion worth of total goods - paid for by the companies in America that import them. This latest round of tariffs, which started September 1, is the first to directly cover many consumer goods, hitting middle-class staples like food, apparel, footwear and consumer electronics. How and when these import taxes will be felt isn't yet clear.
But U.S. companies already are cutting costs, putting off investments and paying extra to build up inventory to help cushion the impact of China tariffs. Some companies are postponing decisions like building factories. A recent Goldman Sachs survey found companies are "rerouting supply chains and relocating production to mitigate exposure to the trade war," moves that can take years to pull off. (Read more)

7. Hong Kong withdraws extradition bill that sparked protests - Washington Times
Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced Wednesday the government will formally withdraw an extradition bill that sparked months of demonstrations, bowing to one of the protesters' demands in the hope of ending the increasingly violent unrest.
But lawmakers warned that the bill's withdrawal was not enough to end the turmoil, which has increasingly focused on alleged police brutality against protesters and democratic reforms. Lam said the government would not accept other demands including an independent inquiry into alleged police misconduct and the unconditional release of those detained.
Pro-democracy lawmaker Claudia Mo said the protesters are adamant that all their demands, including calls for direct elections, are fulfilled. Pro-establishment lawmaker Starry Lee, however, urged protesters to accept the government's olive branch so the city can move forward.
Lam was elected as Hong Kong's chief executive by a pro-Beijing committee of Hong Kong elites, and the mainland government has spoken in support of her government and the city's police force throughout the protests. (Read more)

8. Influence Power: How China Covertly Operates in the U.S. - FreeBeacon
Chinese influence operations in the United States are pervasive and include the use of covert operations to support the objectives of the Communist Party of China in silencing critics of the regime in Beijing. China's targeting of billionaire Chinese dissident Guo Wengui is a case study in the use of these covert methods. A conspiracy was launched by the People's Republic of China that involved a $3 billion scheme to lobby the Trump administration to force Guo's return to China.
"Thanks to the U.S. government and the American legal system, the Chinese failed to have me extradited," Guo said. "My political asylum application is now being processed in court. Much of the information I obtained, especially that related to China's attempt to corrupt American society, has been provided [to] and processed by American authorities. Nevertheless, Americans should be alarmed by the long arm of the Chinese government and take the necessary steps to protect American interests and national security."
The case of Guo Wengui and China's attempts to lobby, coerce, and hack the United States into returning a dissident show the extent to which Beijing will go to influence American society. China's influence goals are specific and strategic: The highest priority is to maintain the dictatorial and near totalitarian control of the Communist Party of China.
Aligned with these objectives are to modernize China as the most powerful country in the world and to seize the island of Taiwan. (Read more)

9. Alarm Sounds on LGBT Targeting of Kids - CBN News
Are the days of "live and let live" over for those of us who believe in traditional, even biblical, values and want to pass that culture on to our children and grandchildren? As much as we may try to ignore it, today's culture is inundated with lust, sexual deviancy, and gender confusion, and - without trying to shock or exaggerate - it's coming for those precious children and grandkids we pray for and try so hard to protect.
Just last week radio host, Todd Starnes, reported that children were "cavorting" on the floor with a man dressed garishly as a woman during a "Drag Queen Story Hour" in a Portland, Oregon public library. A photo showed a little girl lying directly on top of the drag queen. The photo has since been removed from the library's website.
All around us, the boundaries that protected and nurtured children are collapsing. Last year LifeSiteNews reported a drag queen who helped organize a "Story Hour" at a Lafayette, Louisiana library, actually admitted the agenda behind his appearance was to promote and normalize homosexuality.
"This is going to be the grooming of the next generation. We are trying to groom the next generation," said Dylan Pontiff, who when dressed in drag goes by the name Santana Pilar Andrews. (Read more)

10. Planned Parenthood 'Grooms' Girls For Abortions Using Sex Ed, Former Sex Educator Says - Daily Caller
Former sex educator Monica Cline said Planned Parenthood's sex education "grooms them for promiscuity. Grooms them for STD treatment, and grooms them for abortion."
She explained that children's introduction to sex is "illicit sex," referring to a video children were shown at a Waco, Texas, conference where Cline was present. The video, called Nicole's Choice, and sold by sexual educators for $125, shows a girl wake up after a one night stand and realize she must handle the sexually transmitted disease she received from her hookup.
"They do tell them to get tested and treated - which means coming back to the clinic - and if they are pregnant they are encouraged to get an abortion."
As a sexual health educator, Cline says she was taught to identify with what students are going through and ultimately lead them to choose abortion. "We were supposed to identify what they are going through, "Cline explained, "Say, 'you're just a teenager, the last thing you want is a baby.' Identify with her fears. 'Your parents are probably going to be so mad at you. We can take care of this for you, it's not a problem.'" (Read more)
-Father, we pray for our children to be protected in their minds and bodies. We ask You to pour out Your Spirit among our people, cleansing our nation of its sin and rededicating our lives back to You.

Responding to this darkness as Christian Americans
As the Democratic National Committee has embraced the ungodly, Christian Americans need to take control of the narrative surrounding this divided nation. We need to look beyond the rhetoric and the media's negative and false reporting, and the Democratic Party's class and social warfare of division to foster change from the leftist tyrannical policies of globalism. We need to find ways to change the narrative of hate and take control of bringing a divided nation to unity. We can do this. But we have to set our emotions aside, hold in check our tendency toward offense, and pray and act with a purpose in mind. The current situation represents a tremendous opportunity to shine the light of Christ.
We rejected the policies of division and tyranny at the ballot box in 2016. Those who were rejected have taken personal offense and labeled us haters. In doing so, they are showing hate. They are demonstrating, rioting, physically assaulting, and verbally abusing those with whom they disagree. It is so easy to respond with an eye for an eye. But brothers and sisters, this is the time when we need to speak into our nation, speak into our states, into our communities, into our neighborhoods and into our families. We need to talk about reason, calming the rhetoric-even if the other side doesn't want to hear it. We need not compromise our beliefs, but we can take a higher ground.
We need to dismiss the premise of hate and bigotry and build our case for unity, and in doing so, show the light of Christ. This is a time when we need to deescalate the rhetoric and angriness of people who spew hate by accusing others of hate by saying, "I know you are upset, but isn't it time to put that aside and work for a better country? Isn't it time to see that your fellow Americans are not what the news media and the political establishment labeled them, but just people like you and me that want something better for their country, for their futures, even for their children? We have a system of laws and elections and decent people follow laws and respect the will of the people. I know you are a decent person."
Then we need to demonstrate that treating everyone one fairly under the law is a good thing. It's time to come together and put aside the visceral, and reunite as a nation. While many don't believe this can happen, as Christians we are charged with being salt and light to the world. It's time for us to show leadership as Jesus told us in the Sermon on the Mount, "Blessed arethey which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed arethe merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed arethe pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed arethe peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed arethey which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
Have a blessed and powerful day,

Melody: Elihu S. Rice, 1866
About the Hymn:
While secretary and chorister of the Baptist Sunday school at Logansport, Mr. Rice composed the music of this song and sent it to the Rev. Robert Lowry, then editor of the musical department of the "Young Reaper", a Sunday school paper published in Philadelphia. It was accepted and first published in that periodical. Years passed before the composer realized its popularity.
"The first notice I received," he says, "of the favorable reception of 'Shall we meet' by the musical public was from Mr. Sankey, in a very kind letter written in August, 1879, thirteen years after its first publication."
While music has been written for those words by a number of musical composers, I have the satisfaction of knowing that my music has received the choice and approval of Mr. Hastings, the author of the words.

Police Officer Praises Teen's Amazing Display of Kindness; Here's What He Did for an Elderly Lady
[CBN News] A Missouri police officer was emotionally touched after seeing a teenager shield an elderly woman with his coat during the pouring rain.
Officer Joe Holt was sitting in his car during the rainstorm and was amazed by what he witnessed, WDAF-TV in Kansas City reports.
He describes it as not only a powerful moment of compassion shown to an elderly person but also a beautiful display of racial harmony.
Officer Holt wrote on a Facebook post, "This young black male (teen) exited the backseat of a van he was in while it was pouring rain, took his coat off and protected this elderly white female from the environment the best he could all the way to her car. He then walked back to his car all while not saying a word to his Auntie or Mom when he exited or re-entered."
Holt walked over to the van to tell the teen's mother what he had done and how touching it was to watch.
"She teared up pretty good, it was a moment between the both of us. I teared up a little bit," Holt explained. "As much love as that kid displayed that day, that kid could go places and I think he could set an example for what society needs to be."
