President Trump Defends Religous Freedom at the U.N.

FRC Calls Pres. Trump's UN Speech a Historic Step to Protect Religious Freedom for all Faiths

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Family Research Council praised President Trump's speech today promoting religious freedom around the world. The president outlined specific actions that the administration will take, including committing $25 million in funds to protect religious freedom, religious sites, and relics. Protecting houses of worship was one of the top recommendations by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom's (USCIRF) 2019 annual report. Family Research Council President Tony Perkins attended the speech in his capacity as chair of USCIRF.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins stated: "The president delivered a historic speech that goes beyond talking about international religious freedom to taking tangible steps that will lead to people of all faiths being able to securely and publicly worship.

"Not only is religious freedom a fundamental human right, as recognized by the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights, but there is a growing body of research that shows that nations that uphold religious freedom have greater social and economic security - which indirectly makes all nations more secure, including the United States.

"No person, regardless of their faith, should have to assemble and worship God in fear of government oppression or terrorist attack," concluded Perkins.

UNCompromising: Trump Steals the Show with Religious Freedom - Family Research Council

There may have been 60 heads of state at today's U.N. climate summit, but it was the one person organizers weren't expecting who caused a stir. President Donald Trump surprised a lot of people by slipping into the environmental meeting -- but it's what he did down the hall a few minutes later that made history. Like most of his administration, he understands that there's a climate that poses a lot bigger threat -- and that's the climate of religious hostility presently harming men and women around the world.

Donald Trump is used to breaking new ground, but his decision to host a forum on international religious freedom at the general assembly is a first. And not a moment too soon, Vice President Mike Pence insisted in his introduction -- noting that 80 percent of the world's population suffers every day under some form of faith-based oppression. "When I first heard that number," the president told the audience, "I said, 'Please go back and check it.'" He, like a lot of people, can't believe that so many hundreds of millions of people live in fear of exercising the one liberty Americans take for granted every day: religious freedom. Unfortunately, he went on, the statistic was right. And today, the United States is challenging the rest of the world to do something about it. (Read more)
- Lord God, once again we offer You praise for allowing Donald John Trump to serve our nation as the President of the United States of America. His strong, historic, and groundbreaking move on behalf of global religious freedom today at the United Nations will serve to set a new standard of awareness and action on behalf of the 80 per cent of the world's population who suffer every day under some form of faith-based oppression. We pray every day for the protection of President Trump. In Your name, amen.

- Psalm 91

> > > Footnote:

Please be aware that President Trump will be speaking this morning to the entire United Nations General Assembly, immediately following the President of Brazil. Thank you for lifting President Trump in prayer as he continues to address U.S. policy at this world forum. Thank you.

1. ''Significant Progress' In 2 Hour Netanyahu- Gantz Meeting- Jerusalem Post

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Blue and White leader Benny Gantz took "significant strides" toward creating a national unity government, President Reuven Rivlin said following a two-hour meeting between the trio.

Negotiating teams for Blue and White and Likud will meet on Tuesday, and Netanyahu and Gantz will meet again with President Rivlin on Wednesday.

After the meeting, Netanyahu told his allies on the Right that he is representing all of them in his talks with Gantz, and that he would keep his previous promise not to join a government without them.

Rivlin left Netanyahu and Gantz alone for half an hour. They decided not to detail what progress was made in the meeting.

2. U.S. Special Envoy Jason Greenblatt Meets Benny Gantz - Jerusalem Post

Outgoing US peace mediator Jason Greenblatt and US Ambassador David Friedman met Blue and White head Benny Gantz on Monday, three days after meeting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a sign of a new political reality in the country following last week's election.

The meeting, held at the US Embassy annex in Tel Aviv, was the first public meeting between Gantz and the two senior US diplomats.

An identical statement put out by Gantz's office and the US Embassy said that they had a "cordial discussion on various topics, including the importance of the US-Israel relationship, security challenges within the region and efforts to promote peace."

3. Liberman: The entire argument is over who will be PM first - Israel National News

Yisrael Beytenu chairman MK Avigdor Liberman commented on Monday evening on his meeting with Blue and White chairman MK Benny Gantz.

"This afternoon, I met with Blue and White chairman MK Benny Gantz. This was the first time we met after the elections.

There were no preliminary meetings with Kobrinsky or anyone else before the meeting today. At the beginning of the meeting, a series of advisers from both sides, including Hillel Kobrinsky, were present, and then we had a private meeting," Liberman wrote on his Facebook page.

He said all parties understand that there is no escaping a unity government, but its composition should be clear in advance.

"At our meeting, I clarified again what I have been saying since the beginning of the election campaign. As far as Yisrael Beytenu is concerned, there is only one option on the table, and that is the establishment of a unity government of the three parties: Yisrael Beytenu, Likud and Blue and White. To my delight, the two major parties have understood that what is needed at the present is the establishment of a unity government with a rotation in the role of prime minister. The whole debate is currently revolving around the question of who will serve as prime minister first and who will be second. I hope President Rivlin will succeed in bridging the parties and that a decision will be made on the issue," wrote Liberman.

4. Erdogan: 'Jerusalem Issue is Muslim, not Palestinian' - Jewish Press

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has again framed the issue of sovereignty and control of Jerusalem as a religious issue, for which a religious battle must be waged.

"No force or threat can dissuade our country from its activities to protect and defend the rights of Palestine and Jerusalem," Erdogan said at a meeting with Turkish and Islamic organizations in New York on the sidelines of the annual United Nations' General Assembly. Erdogan emphasized that the issue of Jerusalem is not just about Muslims at the Temple Mount, but about "touching the dignity of 1.7 billion Muslims in the world."

5. Arab Party Head Hints Muslims will Build Third Temple - Breaking Israel News

The second round of elections held last week left both Blue and White headed by Benny Gantz and Likud headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu struggling to form a coalition. The third-largest party, the Joint Arab List, found itself in a position of unprecedented and disproportionate power with the ability to make or break any attempt by either side to form a government.

This situation materialized in a bizarre form on Sunday when members of the Joint Arab List arrived at the President's Residence to submit their letter of intent to support a recommendation for Benny Gantz to form a government. This was the first time the Arab parties expressed support for an Israeli candidate since Yitzhak Rabin in 1992.

It is interesting to note that the letter, signed by Ahmad Tibi, the head of the party, contained the header בס"ד (BSD) which is the acronym for "B'Siyata D'Shmaya", an Aramaic expression meaning "with heaven's help" which is similar in intent to the English expression, 'God-willing.' The three letters are routinely used as headers for any written document by religious Jews.

1. U.S. Supreme Court adds Louisiana abortion case to October conference for review - The Advocate

The battle over a Louisiana law that would require abortion providers to have admitting privileges at local hospitals could soon come to the national forefront as the U.S. Supreme Court weighs whether the law should be allowed to take effect.

The court has added the Louisiana case to its Oct. 1 conference agenda, ahead of the Oct. 7 start of its upcoming court session. The results of the justices' deliberation - whether the high court will take up the law for further review - could be revealed days or months later, at the Court's preference.

Abortion rights advocates challenging the law say the Supreme Court should reach a decision without hearing oral arguments because they believe the court already ruled on the matter when it struck down an identical Texas law three years ago. (Read more)

- Lord, we lift up this case to You and ask that the Supreme Court rule in favor of life, in spite of the pressure from "pro-choice" advocates. We ask a move of Your Spirit across the court, bringing wisdom and knowledge of the truth to every member.

- "Your law is truth." (Psalm 119:142b)

2. Trump slams world leaders for religious freedom hypocrisy, commits $25M to the cause at UN summit - Fox News

President Trump, speaking Monday at a United Nations event on religious freedom, called out world leaders for espousing diversity and inclusion while "shunning or silencing" people of faith.

"Too often people in power preach diversity, while shunning or silencing the faithful," Trump said. "True tolerance means respecting the rights of all people to express their deeply held religious beliefs."

While Trump did not specifically call out individual nations, Vice President Pence -- who spoke before the president -- criticized several countries for attacks on religious freedom, including China's persecution of ethnic Uyghur Muslims, Venezuela's contested leader Nicolás Maduro's anti-Semitic rhetoric and Iran's oppression of Christians, Jews and Sunni Muslims. Trump -- who was joined on stage by Pence, U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and other world leaders -- also announced that his administration was allocating an additional $25 million to protect religious freedom as well as religious sites and relics, and launching an initiative with business leaders to protect religious freedom in the workplace. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that world leaders will heed President Trump's words, and back away from the persecution of people for their faith. We especially pray for Your people in the countries where they are being persecuted.

- "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven." (Matthew 5:11,12a)

3. Ukraine controversy turns into double-edged sword for Biden - Fox News

President Trump's allies are leaning into the controversy over a phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, gambling that the increased attention to the story could actually hurt the president's potential 2020 rival Joe Biden.

For days, Democrats have seized on allegations that Trump in July pressured Zelensky to investigate Biden family dealings - using military aid as leverage - and cited the reports to revive calls for the president's impeachment.

But the firestorm, apparently related to a still-secret whistleblower complaint, has, in turn, opened the door for Republicans to revisit the original controversy involving Joe Biden's son Hunter. Further, they allege, the details of that story suggest Biden did the same thing Trump is accused of doing -- leveraging military aid to pressure Ukraine. (Read more)

- Lord, let all corruption in candidate Biden's family be revealed.

- "But the counsels of the wicked are deceitful." (Proverbs 12:5b)

4. Bill Weld suggests Trump could face execution over Ukraine phone call - Fox News

Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld, who is challenging President Trump in the Republican primaries, proclaimed Monday that the president committed treason through his controversial phone call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky -- adding that the punishment for treason is death.

The statement drew a swift rebuke from the Trump campaign. "The media's affliction with Trump Derangement Syndrome has driven them into an actual discussion of the proposed execution of the President of the United States," communications director Tim Murtaugh told Fox News. "In severe cases of TDS such as this, immediate consultation with a physician is recommended."

Weld was responding to claims that Trump pressured Zelensky to investigate Hunter Biden -- the son of former vice president and current Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden -- and threatened to withhold military aid to Ukraine as leverage. Trump has denied wrongdoing. (Read more)

- Father, we ask that Your Spirit cover President Trump, and that You protect him from harm. We rebuke the spirit of hate from Mr. Weld and command it to be silent. We pray for truth and peace to be so apparent that the evil is silenced.

- "The wicked shall be silent in darkness."(1 Samuel 2:9b)

5. In Letter to Colleagues, Pelosi Hints at Impeachment- Newsmax

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Sunday hinted at possible impeachment proceedings in a letter to colleagues, citing President Donald Trump's refusal to hand over a whistleblower complaint.

"If the Administration persists in blocking this whistleblower from disclosing to Congress a serious possible breach of constitutional duties by the President, they will be entering a grave new chapter of lawlessness which will take us into a whole new stage of investigation," Pelosi wrote. A whistleblower alleges Trump attempted to press Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden's son ahead of the 2020 presidential election. The Trump administration has ordered the complaint to be withheld from Congress. (Read more)

- Lord, we take authority over the constant attacks and lies, bind them, and speak peace to the President's soul. We ask that You encourage him, give him wisdom, and bring a mighty move of repentance in this nation.

- "Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand!" (Matthew 3:2)

6. Another Bogus Scandal: Fake News Media Hysterical About Pence's Michigan Visit to Mackinac Island - Gateway Pundit

If you have been on Twitter in the past 24 hours, you would have thought that Vice President Mike Pence marched up to the state of Michigan and dropped an atomic bomb.

Progressives and mainstream media hacks are fixated on the fact that Vice President Pence utilized a motorcade to get from the ferry to The Grand Hotel for his speaking appearance at the Mackinac Island Leadership Conference. How could he do this? He violated tradition and raped Mackinac Island! As usual, the truth is far from the deranged fake news meltdown. Emergency vehicles, including those that can be used by law enforcement and first responders, are stationed on the island. I have witnessed them in use after a few nasty bicycle accidents down the very steep hill just outside The Grand Hotel, which heads towards the marina and historic downtown area. Time Magazine has even admitted that you are able to obtain a special permit for vehicle use, further debunking the idea that Vice President Pence brought the first motor vehicle on the island in more than 100 years.

The next claim? President Gerald Ford visited the island and traveled by horse drawn carriage. Bill Clinton visited once and didn't use a car. Both claims are true. However, they don't offer a relevant comparison to Pence's visit. Neither Ford or Clinton faced the threats or hatred levied upon the Trump administration, including Vice President Pence. A horse drawn carriage in the hilly and winding journey from the marina or heavily wooded path from the island's airport to The Grand Hotel would be impossible to secure. (Read more)

- Lord, we ask that You silence the voices of leftist hysteria over Vice President Pence's motorcade, and grant him peace.

- "The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears open to their cry."
(Psalm 34:15)

7. Stephanie Grisham cancels press briefings - Fox News

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said Monday there won't be traditional press briefings "right now" because grandstanding reporters used the event as an opportunity to "get famous."

"He's his own best spokesperson . . . also, he's the most accessible president in history," Grisham said of President Trump on "Fox & Friends."

Grisham was then asked if Trump's frequent gaggles are the new form of press briefing, which previously consisted of press secretaries Sean Spicer and Sarah Sanders taking questions from sometimes-hostile reporters in the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room. "Ultimately, if the president decided it's something we should do, we can do that, but right now he's doing just fine and to be honest the briefings had become a lot of just theater," she said. "I think that a lot of reporters were doing it to get famous."

"They're writing books now, they're all getting famous off of this presidency, so I think it's great what we're doing now," Grisham added. (Read more)

- Father, we pray that the media in the United States would stop trying to be famous, and begin reporting honestly with humility.

- "By pride comes only contention, but with the well-advised is wisdom."
(Proverbs 13:10)

8. Conservative Activists Clean Up 50 TONS Of Garbage In Liberal Los Angeles; Media Silent - Daily Wire

In August, a group of Trump supporters led by conservative activist Scott Presler went to West Baltimore for a massive clean-up operation following tweets sent by President Donald Trump highlighting the dire conditions in the area.

Keeping to his promises, Presler has since led clean-up efforts in Newark, New Jersey and Virginia Beach, Virginia. And on Saturday, Presler and some 200 volunteers headed to Democrat-run Los Angeles, removing a stunning 50 tons of garbage, according to the activist.

"Without the help of the city, 200 volunteers picked up 50 tons of trash in 9 hours at a homeless camp in Los Angeles," Presler told The Daily Wire on Monday. "It's almost 9 a.m. & we're removing waste from a homeless camp in Los Angeles. Why is an outsider from Northern Virginia here & not California elected leadership?" the activist posted to Twitter Saturday, adding, "#LosAngelesCleanup."

Presler periodically posted photos and videos tracking the group's impressive progress. In one video showcasing the effort, the activist said they were working as "an act of love." (Read more)

- Lord, we thank You that these Conservatives have been working to clean up the mess in these cities. We pray for wisdom for the leaders of these cities, to bring about change in their policies. Let them be removed from office if they cannot bring truth to bear on the problems.

- "Surely He scorns the scornful, but gives grace to the humble. The wise shall inherit glory, but shame shall be the legacy of fools." (Proverbs 3:34)

9. United Methodists Float Plans to Split Denomination after LGBTQ Vote - Christian headlines

The United Methodist Church's deadline for petitions for its next global meeting passed Wednesday (Sept. 18), setting the terms for a final reckoning with LGBTQ issues that have divided the denomination for more than 40 years.

The UMC's General Conference 2020, to be held in May in Minneapolis, will consider the structure of what church leaders hope can be an amicable, and orderly, breakup of a worldwide church that is the second-largest Protestant denomination in the United States. The various plans come in response to a vote earlier this year by the church's decision-making body to strengthen language barring LGBTQ United Methodists from ordination and marriage.

That decision came in February at a special session of the General Conference that approved the conservative Traditional Plan, which centrists and progressives in the church have rejected and adamantly resisted. The resulting chaos has led some churches to withhold money from the denomination or to call for schism.

Bishops in areas that are growing within the denomination and widely seen as conservative, such as the Philippines and African countries, have urged unity in recent statements, even as moderates, most of whom are based in the United States, are optimistic about the prospect of formal separation.

"It's not a divorce. It's giving life to expressions of the church that are now in conflict," United Theological Seminary President Kent Millard told Religion News Service last month. (Read more)

- Lord we pray for a repentance move of Your Spirit upon this denomination, a revelation of Your truth.

- "For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?"
(1 Peter 4:17)

10. NASA emails reveal space agency unaware of 'city-killer' asteroid until last moment: 'This one did sneak up on us'- Fox News

Internal emails from NASA show that the space agency was unaware of asteroid 2019 OK, described as a "city killer," until the last moment on July 24. The giant, football field-sized space rock was not detected by researchers until 24 hours before it was set to whiz past Earth at a distance of just 48,000 miles, traveling at 55,000 miles per hour.

"Because there may be media coverage tomorrow, I'm alerting you that in about 30 mins a 57-130 meter sized asteroid will pass Earth at only 0.19 lunar distances (~48,000 miles)," Lindley Johnson, NASA's planetary defense officer, wrote in a July 24 email, adding the asteroid "was spotted about 24 hrs ago."

The internal messages were obtained by BuzzFeed News through a Freedom of Information Act request and have also been verified by Fox News. Swinburne University astronomy professor Alan Duffy described asteroid 2019 OK as a "city killer" and an asteroid that "would have hit with over 30 times the energy of the atomic blast at Hiroshima" to the Sydney Morning Herald.

NASA officials, including Johnson, were taken aback at the terminology used by Duffy and another Australian astronomer quoted by the news outlet, saying "it might be helpful to ask them to think before they speak." Johnson also said that Australia is "essentially doing nothing to support Planetary Defense," according to the internal emails. (Read more)

Prophetic clarity on Isaiah 17

With the Israeli election turmoil, Iran stepping up its attacks, and another US attempt at a so-called peace plan waiting in the wings, events in Syria have become an ongoing speculation of prophecy watchers. Turkey, Iran, al Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood, Islamic State, Hezbollah, Hamas and other enemies of God and of Israel in the Syrian theatre have many wondering about the Isaiah 17 prophecy, the destruction of Damascus, and whether we are now entering into the end time scenario written so much about by the prophets in the Bible. Certainly, the crucible of prophecy is being stirred and heated, but we must pay close attention to the actual words and context of the prophets to discern current events.

According to the prophet Isaiah, 17:1, "The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap." Many point to this verse to speculate when and how Damascus will be destroyed. If we study the context of the prophecy, Chapter 10 begins with prophesying judgment on Assyria and Ephraim (one of the tribes of Israel) for attacking Israel. Damascus is named as one of the Assyrian's vassals. Damascus also is included in end time judgment accounts of Egypt, Babylon, Moab, Assyria, Ethiopia, Tyre, Philistia and others. This demonstrates the near and the far of prophesy. Some of this was fulfilled historically; other parts of it are yet to be fulfilled.

There has been a lot of talk that this is the time that perhaps Isaiah's prophecy will be fulfilled. Damascus, after all, is hardly a city nowadays. It is maintaining a heartbeat after years of civil war and fighting that includes various al Qaeda terrorist groups, Hezbollah from Iran, Russian interests, American interests, Turkey, the Islamic State, and, of course the Assad government. The ingredients are there for the total destruction of Damascus. Damascus may be devastated by this massive gathering of many forces, but it is not the total destruction prophesied by Isaiah. As with most prophecy, it often appears to be fulfilled, but in types and shadows, layers, and signs before it is ultimately fulfilled.
The context of Isaiah 17 is judgment on nations that come against Israel, beginning in Chapter 9 and continuing through Chapter 24. The phrase "In/At that day" is mentioned no less than four times in Isaiah 17, a short chapter of 14 verses. This phrase is an indicator for the Day of the Lord, meaning when the Lord returns to judge the nations that came against Israel. Verse 7 says, "At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel." Verse 11 speaks that the harvest shall be a day of grief and of desperate sorrow. Context is key. It's irresponsible to take just one verse and develop a scenario or doctrine around it. In Syria, we are seeing prophetic movement, but we will know when God fulfills the prophecy. It will be clear. And all will know that God is God.

Have a blessed and powerful day,

'They're forming like roaches.' The 6 tropical storms whirling at once have tied a record

September is the peak month for hurricane and tropical storm activity in both the Atlantic and Pacific, NOAA reports. Sure, it's the middle of hurricane season. But this is ridiculous. The six named storms whirling at once this week in the Atlantic and Pacific hit a record first set in 1992, forecasters reported.
"While Humberto and Kiko were spinning in the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific, four new tropical cyclones formed Tuesday: Imelda and Jerry in the Atlantic Basin, and Mario and Lorena in the Eastern Pacific Basin," the Weather Channel reported.
This combined number of active storms in both basins was believed to tie a modern record, set in September 1992, according to National Hurricane Center forecaster Eric Blake.

He tweeted Tuesday that "they are forming like roaches out there."

"It's not something that you see all the time, but not unheard of, either," said Weather Channel meteorologist Danielle Banks. (USA Today) Read more.

- Father God, we too, as Your intercessors, stand watch over these weather systems, along with the meteorologists. We continue to thank You that You have the power to command the wind and the waves out to sea, harming no one and nothing on the land. In Your Name, amen.

- The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!" (Matthew 8:27)

"I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke." (Acts 2:19)

The Good News Corner

Look what's happening to Chick-fil-A amid vicious attacks

Eight years ago, boycotts were launched against Chick-fil-A restaurants after gay-rights activists protested the company's support of a pro-family group and the son of the founder made a statement in support of traditional marriage.

The result?

The chain's sales have more than doubled to $10.5 billion in 2018, up nearly 17% percent from the year before, making it the third largest fast-food restaurant, behind only Starbucks and McDonald's.

The Washington Examiner said the chain has opened nearly 700 more locations in recent years.

The controversy began when a gay-issues blog, Towleroad, posted the headline "If you're eating Chick-fil-A, you're eating anti-gay." It was in response to the company's support of a seminar hosted by the Pennsylvania Family Institute, which opposes same-sex marriage.

A short time later, Dan T. Cathy, the son of the founder of Chick-fil-A, said he was "guilty as charged" when asked about his opposition to same-sex marriage.

WND commentator Michael Brown wrote recently that the success of the company creates consternation for "the haters and anti-Christian bigots."

"And Chick-fil-A did this despite of an unrelenting campaign of hate from its critics," he wrote, including attempts to ban Chick-fil-A from college campuses, cities and airports, and regular calls for boycotts.
