More on the El Chapo Act

Chuck Norris Gives a Texas-Sized Two Thumbs Up for Border Wall, Makes Brilliant Suggestion To Fund It

With the partial shutdown of the federal government having entered its third week, some members of Congress have grown increasingly anxious to find a compromise solution to end the current stalemate over a funding request for border security and border wall construction.

Unfortunately, negotiations have stalled as neither side has shown any indication it will waver, with President Donald Trump continuing to demand roughly $5.7 billion to fulfill his primary campaign promise while Democrats insist they will refuse to provide even a single dime of taxpayer money to construct any sort of physical border barrier.

However, there may be an acceptable solution already on the table that would provide funding for border wall construction without the use of taxpayer money - while also fulfilling Trump's promise that "Mexico will pay for the wall." And that potential solution just received a huge boost of support from famed actor, author, and martial arts expert Chuck Norris, in a commentary piece for WND.

Norris drew attention to a piece of legislation that was just re-introduced into the Senate by Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz that would use the seized funds of convicted drug cartel overlords for border security and border wall construction. (Western Journal) Read more here.

> > > We are sending you more information on this important bill for your own prayerful consideration and action. Although the El Chapo Act (like many bills that have not seen the light of day at the end of any session of Congress) was not passed last year . . . this does NOT mean it cannot be reintroduced again this year.
As this article notes, this is exactly what Senator Ted Cruz has done now with the El Chapo Act. Please continue to contact your member of Congress and two senators from your own state, asking them to support the El Chapo Act. Thank you!

1. In 'dramatic statement,' PM demands he be allowed to face his accusers - Times of Israel

In a live statement to the press on prime time Monday evening, advertised ahead of time as "special" and "dramatic," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanded that police allow him to face the state's witnesses who have testified against him in the three corruption cases in which he is a suspect.

He also repeated his claim, without evidence, that the probes were part of a left-wing conspiracy to depose him, and claimed his legal troubles would all go away if he would only capitulate to leftist demands - which he vowed never to do.

Netanyahu said he wished to reveal information to the public that he believed proved his treatment by law enforcement authorities was unfair and biased: his request, twice denied by officials, to hold a confrontation with witnesses who had testified against him.

2. Netanyahu slammed over 'inciting' statements against attorney general - Israel Hayom

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu came under attack on Sunday over his efforts to dissuade Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit from announcing a pre-indictment hearing in his various corruption cases.

According to various reports from the past week, Mendelblit is likely to make a decision on the three cases involving Netanyahu even before the April 9 election, but Netanyahu says that announcing a pre-indictment hearing could turn voters against him before he has a chance to clear his name.

Former Supreme Court Justice Eliyahu Matza said that a recent Netanyahu video in which he compared a pre-indictment hearing to the hand amputation of a man who was wrongly convicted, was inciting.

3. Israel halts transfer of Qatari money to Gaza - Israel National News

Israel has asked Qatar to stop the transfer of money into Gaza following the latest escalation in the south, Palestinian Arab media reported on Monday.

At the same time, the reports said that the Qatari envoy to the region, Mohammed al-Amadi, had said that he would postpone his visit to the region until calm is restored.

Later on Monday, however, Channel 10 News reported that, contrary to earlier reports, Qatar and the UN envoy to the Middle East, Nickolay Mladenov, conveyed a message to Hamas that the money would enter the Gaza Strip within two days.

4. Watchdog: Amnesty International plans 'intense' effort to target Israel - World Israel News

Amnesty International is planning to target Israel with several "intense" campaigns early this year, a Jerusalem-based watchdog group said on Thursday, citing what it described as "leaked" documents.

"In this process, Amnesty will delegitimize Jewish historical connections to Jerusalem and elsewhere, as well as promote discriminatory boycotts (BDS) against Israel," Jerusalem-based NGO Monitor said.

As part of its effort - according to the documents viewed by NGO Monitor - Amnesty will go after businesses that it believes are "profiting from human rights abuses by operating in the illegal Israeli settlements."

"This language mirrors that used by U.N. bureaucrats preparing the UNHRC [U.N. Human Rights Council] blacklist," NGO Monitor said. "The list is aimed at economically damaging companies that are owned by Jews or do business with Israel, and is ultimately meant to harm the Jewish state. Amnesty's campaign is timed to bolster this U.N. blacklist, for which Amnesty has been lobbying intensively, and to serve as an alternative should the UN not publish its list."

5. Legendary Defender of Israel Passes Away - Jerusalem Online

Another of the fast-dwindling number of Israel's "old guard" passed away today. Moshe Arens was 93-years-old when he died at his home on Savyon in central Israel.

Arens was born in 1925 in Lithuania, but his family moved to the United States when he was 14, just prior to the outbreak of World War II.

He served in the US Army Corps of Engineers during the war, after which he immigrated to pre-state Israel and joined the Irgun paramilitary group headed by future Prime Minister Menachem Begin. Just after the State of Israel's establishment, Arens helped found the Herut political party, the precursor to today's Likud.

The Daily Brief

1. Trump: Declaration of national emergency still possible over 'crisis' at border- Fox News

President Trump reaffirmed Sunday that he would consider declaring a national emergency because of the "crisis" at the border - though such a move would seem certain to draw legal challenges.

He said Sunday afternoon that a strong border outweighs other challenges of the partial government shutdown regarding border-wall funding, now dragging into a third week.

"Government workers want our borders taken care of," he said to reporters at the Rose Garden outside The White House.

He called federal workers "patriots" who want a strong border, and he noted the need for a more impenetrable border - a steel barrier "that will give great strength" - because of the strength of the American economy.

Trump has asserted that he could relate to the plight of the hundreds of thousands of federal workers going without paychecks for the moment, though he acknowledged they would have to "make adjustments" to deal with the shutdown shortfall. Previously, the president had tweeted he didn't care that "most of the workers not getting paid are Democrats."

Trump has showed no signs of budging in his demand for $5.6 billion for the wall, which Democrats have refused to grant. Trump suggested earlier Sunday that he, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., could find compromise "in 20 minutes if they want to. If they don't want to, it's going to go on for a long time." (Read more)

- Father, we bind the President's mind to Your mind, and the minds and hearts of the Democrats as well. We ask Your solution to this stalemate for the benefit of not only America, but those who are working without pay.

- "Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my trouble; incline Your ear to me, in the day that I call, answer me speedily." (Psalm 102:2)

1a. Breaking! Trump to Address Nation on Immigration in Prime Time Tuesday Night - Newsmax

Aiming to bolster his case for a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico, President Donald Trump said on Monday he would make a prime-time televised address and visit the border this week as the government marked its 17th day of a partial shutdown.

Trump's speech, planned for 9 p.m. on Tuesday (0200 GMT Wednesday) and the border trip on Thursday underscored his resolve not to back off his 2016 campaign promise to build a wall that he believes will stem illegal immigration and drug trafficking. He promised during the campaign that Mexico would pay for the wall. Mexico has refused to do so.

All the major U.S. television networks agreed to air Trump's speech.

Democrats in Congress, who say a wall would be expensive, inefficient and immoral, called for the networks to grant them equal time in a joint statement issued by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer.

"Now that the television networks have decided to air the President's address, which if his past statements are any indication will be full of malice and misinformation, Democrats must immediately be given equal airtime," the statement said.

Pressure to reach a deal to end the shutdown is likely to grow as its effects are increasingly felt, including possible cuts in food stamp programs for the poor. (Read more)

- We encourage all of our readers to please pray in the Spirit during the President's speech tonight, and during the Democrats' response, as well. Thank you.

2. Ruth Bader Ginsburg misses oral arguments for first time since joining Supreme Court, after surgery - Fox News

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is missing oral arguments on Monday for the first time since she joined the court in 1993, as she recuperates from a recent cancer surgery. A Supreme Court spokesperson told Fox News that Ginsburg, who underwent lung surgery in New York City last month to remove cancerous growths, is continuing to recuperate from the surgery. The spokesperson said that Ginsburg would participate in the consideration of the cases through written briefs and transcripts, but there has yet to be a date decided for when she will return to the bench.

Ginsburg, 85, last month underwent a pulmonary lobectomy at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center after two nodules in the lower lobe of her left lung were discovered, the Supreme Court said in a statement. The discovery came incidentally during tests after she fractured several ribs during a fall in November. The news release said both nodules removed during surgery were found to be malignant, but scans performed before surgery indicated no evidence of disease elsewhere in the body. No further treatment was planned. (Read more)

- Lord God, we continue to lift Justice Ginsburg before Your Throne of grace, asking only that Your will be done in, and through, her life. Amen.

- ". . . thy will be done . . ." (Matthew 6:10)

3. 'Real Justice Department' veteran emerges as Mueller's top courtroom adversary - Washington Times

A former federal prosecutor has emerged as special counsel Robert Mueller's most persistent courtroom critic. He is Eric A. Dubelier, a litigator for the Reed Smith law firm who knows international law and the D.C. playing field. He served eight years prosecuting cases as a Justice Department assistant U.S. attorney in Washington. He refers to his former employer as "the real Justice Department," implying that Mr. Mueller's team is something less.

His biting remarks have come in months of court filings and oral arguments. Mr. Dubelier has depicted Mr. Mueller as a rogue prosecutor willfully ignoring Justice Department guidelines. He has accused Mr. Mueller of creating a "make-believe crime" against his Russian client, Concord Management and Consulting, which is accused of funding a troll farm that interfered in the 2016 election.

Mr. Dubelier charges that the Mueller team violated the confidentially of Concord's counter evidence while hiding documents Concordneeds for its defense. The prosecutor wants to "whisper secrets to the judge," Mr. Dubelier says, as Mr. Mueller is calculating the "short-term political value of a conviction" and not worrying about an appeals court defeat years later. - Lord, we ask on bended knee for this collusion investigation to end. We pray for Your protection over the President as the constant attacks have grown off the charts.

4. Exculpatory Russia evidence about Mike Flynn that US intel kept secret - The Hill

For nearly two years now, the intelligence community has kept secret evidence in the Russia collusion case that directly undercuts the portrayal of retired Army general and former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn as a Russian stooge. The Pentagon [gave] a classified briefing to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) in May 2017, but then it declined the senator's plea to make some of that briefing information public.

Flynn's attendance at the RT event was disclosed in advance to the intelligence community, he took proactive steps to ensure he could not be compromised by attendees and he then came back to the United States and reported intelligence designed to benefit America.

The first accounts of the Russia-Flynn story - like many others in the still-unproven collusion narrative - should be amended to reflect that the retired general acted like a patriot, not a traitor, when he visited Moscow for the RT event. (Read more)

- Lord, we ask for You to open the ears and eyes of the people to be able to see truth, and touch the life of General Flynn to redeem him.

- "Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise Your name; the righteous shall surround me, for You shall deal bountifully with me." (Psalm 142:7)

5. Roy Moore was reportedly targeted by Dems in second 'false flag' operation in 2017 Alabama race - Fox News

Alabama Republican Roy Moore was reportedly targeted by another "false flag" operation organized by Democrats who supported Doug Jones during the state's Senate special election in 2017, according to a new report.

A New York Times story revealed Monday that Democrats created a Facebook page that gave the false impression that it was the work of Baptist teetotalers supporting Moore in the contest. That "Dry Alabama" Facebook page - which called for outlawing alcohol in the state - intended to alienate pro-business, moderate Republicans from Moore, the paper reported.

Democrats reportedly saw an opportunity to win that race after Moore was hit with allegations of past inappropriate sexual conduct with teenage girls. Jones went on to win the race. It's the second report in recent weeks of a stealth social media effort by pro-Jones activists.

In December, the New York Times also reported that Democratic operatives, backed by a liberal billionaire, created thousands of fake Russian accounts to give an impression the Russian government was supporting Moore. The secret project was carried out on Facebook and Twitter. After that revelation, Jones said he was "outraged" over the report and called for a federal investigation into the project. (Read more)

- Lord, as more truth about Democrats' evil schemes come to light, we ask that You stand in the gap for all of Your people who have fought to be elected in these times.

- "Therefore do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not be reveals, and hidden that will not be known." (Matthew 10:26)

6. Brazil's Bolsonaro says he is open to hosting a U.S. military base - Reuters

Brazil's new President Jair Bolsonaro said on Thursday that he would be open to the possibility of the United States operating a military base on his country's soil, a move that would form a sharp shift in direction for Brazilian foreign policy.

Bolsonaro, who took power on Tuesday, said that Russia's support of President Nicolas Maduro's "dictatorship" in neighboring Venezuela had significantly ramped up tensions in the region and was a worrying development.

Asked by the SBT TV network in an interview taped on Thursday if that meant he would allow U.S. military presence in Brazil, Bolsonaro responded that he would certainly be willing to negotiate that possibility. "Depending on what happens in the world, who knows if we would not need to discuss that question in the future," Bolsonaro said. (Read more)

- Lord, we thank You for a new friend of America in President Bolsonaro. Let his promise to move the embassy to Jerusalem be real, and may Your protection keep him safe.

- "You shall trample the wicked, for they shall be ashes under your feet."
(Malachi 4:3a,b)

7a. US deploys military forces to Gabon - AlertsUSA

The US has deployed military forces to Gabon to be in position to support the security of US citizens, personnel, and diplomatic facilities in Kinshasa, DRC.

Last Friday, President Trump sent a letter to the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate, announcing his plans to send 80 troops to Gabon. To read the text of that letter, please go here.

7b. Coup attempt underway in Gabon, West Africa - AlertsUSA

A coup attempt is now underway in Gabon, West Africa. Shots were fired in the capital of Liberville. The US Embassy Gabon urges American citizens in the country to shelter in place.

A short time ago, soldiers in Gabon appeared on state television saying they have launched a coup against the government of ailing president Ali Bongo. Bongo is currently in Morocco recovering from a stroke.

- Father, we thank you that, even late last week, the President knew that our citizens would be in danger in this African nation. Hence, now that this coup has broken out, there are 80 American men and women in uniform to protect our people. We ask that You protect all of them now, in Your name, amen.

- Psalm 91

8. House Democrats to Introduce Bill Criminalizing Private Gun Sales on Tuesday - Breitbart

House Democrats plan to introduce a bill criminalizing private gun sales on Tuesday of next week. The legislation will be introduced by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA), and gun control proponent Gabby Giffords.

Tuesday will be the eighth anniversary of the day on which Giffords was shot by Jared Loughner. The bill seeks to put background checks in place for all gun sales, requiring a daughter to get a background check before her mother can give her a gun or a son to get a background check before a father can give him one. It would also require a lifelong friend to get a background check before he can a gun from his lifelong friend. (Read more)

- Father, government interference in our lives is increasing exponentially in all areas. Even though this would be unlikely to pass the Senate, we ask that You work a work in the hearts of Democrats to change their focus toward the Constitution.

- "O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known; in wrath, remember mercy." (Habakkuk 3:2b)

9. New Mexico's Poisonous Physician-Assisted Suicide Bill Would Hurt Entire Country - CNS News

A new bill introduced in New Mexico could make "suicide tourism" a reality. HB 90, or "The Elizabeth Whitefield End of Life Options Act," would allow non-residents to travel to New Mexico to pursue physician-assisted suicide. Three state municipalities have passed resolutions endorsing the legislation.

This bill could have disastrous, nationwide consequences. It also reminds us why physician-assisted suicide is so poisonous to our culture.

The U.S. suicide rate hit a 50-year record high last year-so drastic that it lowered overall average life expectancy. Our society needs to put more emphasis on the inherent dignity of every human life, not less.

Not only would this bill remove the current residency requirement on physician-assisted suicide, it also lacks many of the already insufficient so-called safeguards on the practice.

For example, the bill would allow patients to receive a diagnosis that qualifies them for physician-assisted suicide via telemedicine-no in-person visit required. (Read more)

- Lord, we are grieved that this bill has been proposed in the New Mexico legislature. We pray Your mercy over our nation, and the legislators, that they see far enough ahead to realize the horrific outcome of this bill.

- "But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil."
(Deuteronomy 30:14,15)

10. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez suggests 70% tax on rich to fund Green New Deal: 'Call me a radical' - Washington Times

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has suggested taxing the rich as much as 70 percent to fund a sweeping economic and energy reform plan called the "Green New Deal."

"There's an element where, yeah, people are going to have to start paying their fair share in taxes," the newly elected congresswoman of New York, a democratic socialist, told CBS host Anderson Cooper in an interview that's set to air Sunday.

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez said taxes on the wealthy will have to be greatly increased in order to pay for the plan, which aims to reduce carbon emissions to zero and move toward 100% renewable energy within 12 years.

"You look at our tax rates back in the '60s, and when you have a progressive tax rate system, your tax rate, let's say from $0 to $75,000 maybe 10% or 15%, etc. But once you get to the tippie-tops, on your 10 millionth dollar, sometimes you see tax rates as high as 60 or 70 percent. That doesn't mean all $10 million dollars are taxed at an extremely high rate. But it means that as you climb up this ladder, you should be contributing more," she said, according to a clip released Friday.

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez acknowledged that her goal is "ambitious" and would require "a lot of rapid change that we don't even conceive as possible right now." Mr. Cooper called her agenda "radical" - a term the 29-year-old lawmaker embraced. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray against any of these radical plans either forwarded by Ms. Cortez or any other Democrat that has an agenda to destroy the United States. We pray that every plan to work against us will be thwarted.

- "No weapon formed against you shall prosper." (Isaiah 54:17)

11. Sean Hannity: We're just days into the Democrat-controlled hate-Trump House and the wheels are coming off - Fox News

It was a huge, productive, extraordinarily important 24 hours for President Trump and the deranged hate-Trump left. They are spinning out of control, beyond even my predictions. Calls for impeachment, vulgar tirades, plans for a 70 percent federal tax hike, a bill to radically alter the U.S. Constitution.

Now, it's only day two of the Democratic-controlled hate-Trump House of Representatives. The wheels are coming off. It is not a pretty picture.

And as you pay attention to my monologue, be sure to ask yourself this important question. (We'll be asking questions they never ask in the media.) Is what you are hearing and seeing and witnessing, is it good for you, for your family? Is it good for the country we love?

We start today with our congressional watch. I long warned you that in 100 days, the entire country will know what we know, and that is just how radical this new Congress is. And we're getting off to a quick start. Just hours after getting sworn in, you have Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib going on a profanity-laced rant while screaming for the president's impeachment. By the way, they filed that Thursday, too. They're going to rush, for what reason, God only knows. (Read more)

- Father, hate and lawlessness, immorality and lies . . . we ask that Your Spirit help us to repent across the nation for these deadly sins that are destroying our nation from the inside out.

- "And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment." (John 16:8)

The coming idiocy

Have you read the headlines lately? Do you see what this crop of Democratic representatives in Congress are promoting? Here's the short list: voting rights for noncitizens, an end to the electoral college, free college education, minimum mandatory income, up to 85% taxes, expanded socialist healthcare, abolishing border security enforcement (ICE), carbon taxes to change the weather (AKA: climate change), sex education promoting BDSM and other deviant sexual behaviors, banning gun ownership, support of Islamic terrorism against Israel, and more. Impossible, you say? Crazy? These things could never happen? Recent history indicates that there is no limit to the coming idiocy. Here is a brief rundown.

In 1973, what seemed impossible happened-the Supreme Court legalized abortion. For decades, however, this government-sanctioned genocide was forbidden to be funded by tax dollars. After the immediate past "president" was elected, Planned Parenthood came center stage with even more tax support. Now, though they claim that no abortions are performed with the aid of tax dollars, the reality is that any federal funding helps them keep the lights on in their death clinics. And yes, your and my hard earned tax dollars are paying for it. Planned Parenthood has Capitol Hill briefings for Democratic Congressmen's staffers guiding them on how to use tax money to aid and abet killing babies.

Remember when the vast majority was against same sex marriage? Even over 60% of Californians were against it. Then along came the previous "president." What was unthinkable a decade ago, became the law of the land in 2015. The aggressive homosexual lobby protested, bought, and bullied their way to legal legitimacy. Along the way, religious free speech was characterized as homophobic and hateful. How about communism in the 1950s? Democrats claimed with full media support that investigations into communists were witch-hunts. Now there are Democrats openly proclaiming they are members of the House Progressive Caucus and many are Democratic Socialists. Everyone who disagrees with them is a bigot, racist, xenophobe, misogynist, homophobe or whatever. There is no limit to their political intolerance.

Remember when as First Lady Hillary Clinton tried to push through socialist healthcare? She got hammered. But she and her communist allies kept at it. Now it is the law of the land- in the dark of the night without one Republican vote. These are just the highlights of idiocy becoming reality over the past generation. Don't think that the incoming socialists are kidding around when they promote these things with the help of the news media. Idiocy has no limits, and the idiots are on a roll. What does it matter, some Christians will ask, stating ours is a kingdom in another world. Well, in the end, the Lord judges the nations as well as individuals. We are exhorted in Romans 12:21, "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." We had better start pushing back in prayer and action now, before the coming idiocy becomes reality.

Have a blessed and powerful day,

Classic Hymns

"O Lord, how great are Thy works!" (Psalm 92:5)

Lyrics

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the *worlds thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the *rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed:

Refrain

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!

When through the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees,
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze:

Refrain

And when I think that God, his Son not sparing, Sent him to die, I scarce can take it in, That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin.

Refrain

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then *I shall bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, "My God, how great thou art!"

Refrain

Signs and Wonders

Mudslides shut down Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu

Sections of the Pacific Coast Highway in Los Angeles have been shut down due to mudslides and flooding over the weekend, the California Department of Transportation said.

Parts of the state's iconic coastal highway will be closed until at least Monday as crews work to unearth a 40-foot-wide debris flow, according to NBC affiliate KNBC in Los Angeles.

The department tweeted images from the city of Malibu showing cars and roads buried under rocky sludge.

The slides occurred after heavy rains swept across stretches of Southern California on Saturday. The rains were especially dangerous after last year's Woolsey Fire - a blaze that scarred nearly 100,00 acres, destroyed 1,600 structures and killed three people in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

The National Weather Service said at an automated rain gauge in the Santa Monica Mountains - which rise just east of Southern California coastline - measured nearly three-quarters of an inch in an hour on Saturday night and nearly half an inch in 30 minutes.

"These are heavy rain rates!" the agency tweeted.

Ventura County Fire Department Capt. Dennis O'Shea said authorities were alerted to the slides after drivers stopped by a local fire station.

They "rang our doorbell to tell us there was flooding and people were trapped," he told the Los Angeles Times. "Those folks just happened to be in the worst part of it, and they just got stuck."

Forecasters expected more rain and snow beginning late Sunday as another storm front moves across the state, according to the Associated Press. (NBC News) Read more.

"A Message of Peace and Love to the World" Egypt's President el-Sisi Gifts a New Cathedral, the Middle East's Largest Church, to Coptic Christians

Christians in Egypt are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas 2019 is particularly special because it will be remembered for the dedication of the Middle East's largest church for Coptic Christians. (Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas on January 7.)

Egypt's Coptic pope inaugurated the Nativity of the Christ Cathedral during Christmas Mass. President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi joined the celebration.

The building is a gift to the Church from President el-Sisi. He commissioned the cathedral in 2017 as part of a new capital being built outside of Cairo. He said the new church should be considered "a message of peace and love to the world."

Joel Rosenberg led a delegation of evangelicals here for the dedication. "I think what we have seen here is historic. I really think it's a game changer that a Sunni Arab Muslim President of the world's largest Arab country has built a church, the largest in the Middle East and given it as a gift to the Christians of Egypt. We've never seen anything like it in history. And I think President Sisi is sending a message not just to his own people but to all Muslims that Muslims and Christians can live together in coexistence. That's an extraordinary development," said Rosenberg. (CBN News) Read more.
