2. Bolton Tells Netanyahu Of U.S. Concern With Chinese Presence At Haifa Port - Jerusalem Post

WASHINGTON -- National Security Adviser John Bolton raised US concerns on Sunday with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over China's creeping role in Israel's critical infrastructure, particularly its upcoming management of Haifa Port, a frequent dock for the US Sixth Fleet.

White House officials confirmed to The Jerusalem Post that Bolton raised the Haifa matter. The Post exclusively reported last month that the US Navy might change its longstanding operations there once the Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) - a company in which the Chinese government has a majority stake - takes over the city's civilian port in 2021.

Senior Israeli officials have recently told the Post that they are aware of Washington's concerns and are working to address them.

"The State of Israel is dealing with all aspects connected to the establishment and management of infrastructure by foreign companies in Israel," Intelligence and Transportation Minister Israel Katz, who pioneered the project and is also a member of the security cabinet, said.

3. Israel to US: Recognize Israeli sovereignty in Golan - Israel National News

Israel is calling on the Trump administration to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, as a form of compensation for the impending US troop withdrawal from Syria, Channel 10 reported Sunday.

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met with US National Security Advisor John Bolton at the Prime Minister's Residence Sunday evening, a day after Bolton landed in Israel for talks regarding the planned Syria pullout and the future of US-Israel efforts to confront Iran's military expansion in the war-torn country.

During a joint press briefing following the meeting, Netanyahu said he would be travelling with Bolton - weather-permitting - to the Golan Heights Monday, saying the trip would impress upon the NSA the importance of recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the territory.

4. IDF strikes Hamas posts in Gaza after explosive flown into Israel - Times of Israel

The Israeli Air Force struck two Hamas positions in the eastern Gaza Strip on Sunday in response to an explosive device that was flown into southern Israel earlier in the day, the army said.

On Sunday morning, a bomb was flown into Israel using a large cluster of balloons and a drone-like glider device, landing in a carrot field in the Sdot Negev region of southern Israel shortly before noon.

In retaliation for the cross-border attack from Gaza, Israeli military helicopters attacked two observation posts east of Khan Younis that are controlled by the coastal enclave's Hamas rulers, the Israel Defense Forces said.

5. PA withdraws from Rafah amid disagreements with Hamas - Israel National News

The Palestinian Authority (PA) announced on Sunday it would be withdrawing staff from the Rafah border post with Egypt in southern Gaza to protest against "brutal practices" by rival faction Hamas, AFP reports.

"This decision comes in the light of recent developments and brutal practices of the de facto gangs" in the Gaza Strip, said the PA's civil affairs authority in a statement.

It accused Hamas of "summoning, arresting and abusing our employees", leading it to conclude that their presence was futile, the statement said.

6. Secret delegations from Iraq visit Israel - Israel National News

Three delegations from Iraq visited Israel in recent months, the last of which arrived in Israel within the last month, Hadashot TV reported on Sunday.

The delegations included a total of 15 influential people from Iraq, including local religious leaders, both Sunnis and Shiites.

According to the Hadashot TV report, the delegation met with Israeli officials, visited the Yad Vashem Museum and met with academics and organizations related to Iraqi Jewry.

The visits were made possible in part because, compared to the generally hostile Arab world, Iraq has a relatively favorable attitude toward Israel.

7. What Happened in Israel in 2018 - Bridges for Peace

2018 was a significant year in Israel. The country celebrated some major events but also saw more-much more-than its fair share of heartache. The past year has seen an uprising of violence in Gaza, coinciding with the US embassy move to Jerusalem; while Iran continued its aggression and fight for control in the Middle East amid Israel's warming relations with other Arab nations. 9. Governor of Rio De Janeiro Inaugurated to Sound of Shofar - Breaking Israel News

Wilson Witzel was inaugurated as governor of Brazil's capital to the sound of the shofar (ram's horn) blown by a rabbi. Witzel was elected in October to a four-year term as the 63rd and current Governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro. A member of the Social Christian Party, Witzel is a former federal judge and an ex-marine. He is strongly aligned with the newly elected President Jair Bolsonaro who is a strong supporter of Israel.

Witzel's victory was a nearly miraculous come-from-behind campaign with initial polling showing him with one percent of the electorate.

The Daily Brief

1. Dow jumps more than 700 points, propelled by Powell's comments and a blowout jobs report - CNBC

Stocks rallied on Friday after two positive pieces of news for the market. The Labor Department said the U.S. economy added 312,000 jobs in December. That blew past an expectation of 176,000 jobs. Later on Friday morning, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said the central bank will be patient in raising rates, quelling fears of tighter monetary policy in the near future.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 746.94 points higher at 23,433.16, or 3.3 percent. Stocks took off after Powell hinted the central bank could pause its rate hikes, something this beaten-down market was waiting for. "As always, there is no preset path for policy, " Powell said. "And particularly with muted inflation readings that we've seen coming in, we will be patient as we watch to see how the economy evolves."

"We created jobs across the board; I don't think most of it was seasonal," said JJ Kinahan, chief market strategist at TD Ameritrade. "But the most interesting thing on this report was the amount of people who left their jobs voluntarily. I think that's a really good consumer-confidence measure." (Read more)

- Father God, we thank You for overseeing the economy with such great precision as to assure us that Your hand is still extended to supply the needs of Your people. Let God arise and His enemies be scattered. In the Name of Jesus we pray and thank You.

- "Arise, shine, for Your light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you." (Isaiah 60:1)

2. 116th Congress Contains Lowest Number of Christians in U.S. History - FreeBeacon

The 116th Congress is comprised of the lowest number of Christian lawmakers since Pew Research Center began collecting data in 1961 and is a slightly more religiously diverse body than the previous Congress. A growing number of members decline to specify their religious affiliation (or lack thereof), rising from 2 percent to 3 percent. All 18 members of this group are Democrats. In contrast, 253 of the 255 Republicans identify as Christians. The other two, Reps. Lee Zeldin, (N.Y.) and David Kustoff (Tenn.), are Jewish.

Christians now represent 88 percent of the current Congress, according to Pew Research, a 3 percent drop from the 91 percent of the 115th Congress who identified as Christian. There are now more nondenominational or Christians of unspecified affiliation in Congress. On the whole, Congress members identifying with evangelical or unspecified nondenominational churches gained 18 seats, bringing their representation up to 80 seats. Many minority religious groups also made gains. There are four more Jewish members, one more Muslim, and one more Unitarian Universalist. (Read more)

- Father, we ask that this Congress be stimulated by the presence of the Holy Spirit in their lives, on and off the job, and that those who lack a strong Christian loyalty be left behind in their strengths to cause division and strife for the whole. Develop strength in this Congress that will carry God's will through to the end. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

- "For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron; I will also make your officers peace, and your exactors righteousness." (Isaiah 60:17)

3. Senate confirms dozens of stalled Trump nominees hours before the 115th Congress ends - Washington Examiner

The Senate confirmed dozens of stalled Trump administration nominees Wednesday night, just hours before the close of the 115th Congress. The list excluded federal judges despite an effort by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., to secure a deal for those nominees with Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. In total, the Senate cleared 77 nominees by voice vote, among them 23 ambassadors to countries including Australia, Armenia, Yemen, Guyana, Kenya, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Senate confirmed eight U.S. attorneys and eight U.S. marshals, a member of the Federal Maritime Commission, and two members of the Federal Communications Commission. The Senate confirmed James Carroll Jr. to be director of National Drug Control Policy. It also confirmed Ellen McCarthy to serve as assistant secretary of state. And it confirmed Kelvin Droegemeier to serve as the director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. (Read more)

- Father in heaven, pour out Your blessings upon all these who were confirmed in the Senate Wednesday night. We pray that the power of the living God in heaven rest upon each of them and be singled out to stand tall in unity of purpose and calling to form a powerful Senate. We pray in the Name of Jesus and for Your glory.

- "The sun shall be no more your light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto you, but the Lord shall be unto you an everlasting light, and your God your glory." (Isaiah 60:19)

4. Pelosi, House Dems pass spending bill funding abortion; White House vows veto - Christian Post

The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives voted Thursday night to pass government spending legislation that would reinstate federal funding to abortion organizations worldwide. The bill essentially repeals Trump's expanded Mexico City Policy - also known as the Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance Policy - which he enacted as one of his first acts as president in January 2017.

Under the Trump policy, NGOs and charities that provide assistance to underserved populations overseas would have to agree that they will not "perform or actively promote abortion as a method of family planning" in order to receive funding from the State Department. Similar policies were put in place by every Republican president since Ronald Reagan. In addition, the House spending bill will also restore funding to the United Nations Population Fund, which has been accused by the Trump administration of being complicit in the China's acts of "coercive abortion and involuntary sterilization."

The Trump administration moved in April 2017 to defund the UNPF. Both Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the White House have vowed to oppose the bill. In a statement issued Thursday, the White House promised a veto if the bill reaches Trump's desk in its current form. (Read more)

- Father God, we ask that Your mighty power in heaven will fall upon this bill funding abortion and all its avenues, and defeat it. Lord, stretch out Your hand and stop every individual or activator of this bill that it be completely destroyed. It represents payment to murderers of innocent babies. Kill it, Lord, and let it not rule over our land. In Jesus' Name we pray.

- "Their Redeemer is strong; the Lord of hosts is His Name: He shall thoroughly plead their cause, that He may give rest to the Land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon." (Jeremiah 50:34)

5. House Dems move to eliminate Electoral College, limit presidential pardon power and more in first days back - Fox News

Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., introduced a pair of constitutional amendments that would eliminate the Electoral College as well as strictly prohibiting a president from pardoning himself, family members or associates.

Among one of the first bills Democrats will consider is an effort to make it easier for people to vote while tightening election security. The move would also require presidents to disclose their tax returns. The bill would create automatic national voter registration while expanding access to early and online registration. [It would federalize] state voter systems, including paper ballots to prevent fraud and restore voting rights for former prisoners. It would also restore protections included in the 1965 Voting Rights Act and guard against efforts by state officials who wish to purge voting rolls.

Democrats passed a plan to re-open the government - but it didn't include funding for Trump's oft-promised border wall. California Rep. Brad Sherman hit the ground running with impeachment plans as he reintroduced articles he last filed in 2017 - when Republicans had control of the House. (Read more)

- Father God: The wiles of satan that are in the hearts of the Democrats and the likeminded have come forth with all their ignominious plans to bring in grief and hopelessness. We pray an angelic host sent from God will war against all this and destroy it from the roots up as accomplished by God Himself. In the Name of Jesus we pray.

- "For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ." (Jude 4)

"The battle is the Lord's." (2 Chronicles 20:15)

6. Mulvaney presses Trump to hold firm in shutdown: report - The Hill

Newly-appointed acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney is reportedly pushing President Trump to stand firm and not accept a spending deal from Democrats that does not involve fully funding his plans for a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Politico reports that sources close to Mulvaney say the aide is among several top officials counseling the president to reject any bills from Congress that do not supply the desired $5 billion the White House hopes to secure for a border wall.

"Democrats would like to try to increase spending on anything but the wall," a person close to Mulvaney told the news outlet, who added that Mulvaney saw his role "as reminding the president this is a bad deal." (Read more)

- Father, we thank You for sending such a man as Mick Mulvaney to stand firm, side by side, with President Trump, regarding the building of the wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. We ask for You to send an angel to stand with President Trump and be a power behind obtaining all the funds to build the wall quickly. In the Name of Jesus we pray.

- "God withdraws not His eyes from the righteous: but with kings and presidents are they on the throne, yea, God does establish them forever, and they are exalted."
(Job 36:7)

7. Trump makes 'historic progress' in crackdown on deportation deadbeats - Washington Times

Sierra Leone for years had thumbed its nose at U.S. officials, slow-walking deportations so badly that it earned its way onto Homeland Security's "recalcitrant country" naughty list. Over the last two years of the Obama administration, Sierra Leone took back just 21 deportees.

President Trump took office vowing action, and one of his first executive orders instructed his administration to stop issuing visas to the worst-offending countries. The Sierra Leone government was targeted with sanctions in August 2017, and the change came quickly, with 44 deportees sent back that year, and 79 shipped back in fiscal 2018.

While much of Mr. Trump's immigration agenda remains tied up in the federal courts or stalemated in Congress, he has made extraordinary progress on recalcitrant countries like Sierra Leone, cutting the number of deadbeat countries from a peak of 23 in 2015 down to just nine as of last month. "Under President Trump, we have made historic progress in ensuring countries take back their nationals who have no legal right to live or work in the United States," said Katie Waldman, a spokeswoman for Homeland Security. (Read more)

- Father, we ask that You put forth Your hand against Sierra Leone and other recalcitrant countries who have been an enemy to the United States regarding deportation deadbeats. Strengthen President Trump to send back nationals who have no legal right to live or work in America and ask for God's intervention. In the Name of Jesus we pray.

- "Pray for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty." (I Timothy 2:2)

8. DHS Releases Over 2K Border-Crossing Adults, Children into U.S. - Breitbart

A DHS official confirmed to Breitbart News that the U.S. Border Patrol and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency is releasing more than 2,000 family units caught at the U.S.-Mexico border, citing a lack of detention space. The border-crossing adults and the children they arrived at the border with will be released and given a court date for an immigration hearing. The adults will be given ankle monitors, though the DHS official says the process of keeping track of border-crossers via ankle monitors is not effective.

The DHS official said there is not nearly enough bed space for family units at border detention facilities, while Border Patrol encounters about 2,100 border-crossers a day with more than 60 percent of those adults bringing children with them in the hope to be quickly released into the interior of the country. A DHS spokesperson blamed the country's immigration loophole, known as the Flores Settlement Agreement, in a statement to Breitbart News.

In November 2018, there were close to 52,000 border crossings on the southern border, alone, marking the highest level of illegal immigration in the month of November since 2006. Projections indicate that illegal immigration for next year will reach 600,000 border crossings, the highest level of illegal immigration in more than a decade. (Read more)

- Lord God, we pray that the Mexican border towns assimilate these people on their side of the border. We pray the parents will go south into Mexico and find their place there. Open the Mexican leaders' hearts to reach out to their own people. Let this transformation take place this month. In Jesus' Name we pray.

- "And it shall come to pass that all who call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved." (Acts 2:21)

9. Troops To Be Deployed To Border To Build And Upgrade 160 Miles Of Fencing - NPR

More troops are expected to be deployed to the Southern border to construct or upgrade 160 miles of fencing and provide medical care to a steady stream of migrant families arriving from Central America, according to military sources. The deployment and fence construction along the California and Arizona borders would be paid for by the Pentagon, from the Department of Defense's discretionary funding.

The move comes as President Trump continues to demand more than $5 billion from Congress for border security and a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. Congressional Democrats oppose the move, and parts of the federal government have been shut down because of the impasse.

The Department of Homeland Security - which has had to cease some operations, although not border security - made the request for more troops to shore up the border with Mexico. A senior military official said the new request could include thousands more troops and that installing the fencing could take months. The Pentagon is now considering which units to send. (Read more)

- Oh God, we pray for a miracle to happen, even now regarding God's will for the border issues. Lord, You have the answer and we ask that those involved will hear the voice of the Lord and obey Your directions. Father bind all evil involvement under the Blood of Jesus, and release victory. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

- "Lord, hear my voice: let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications." (Psalm 130:2)

10. China confirms 'proactive and constructive' US trade talks in Beijing next week - South China Morning Post

China on Friday confirmed that a vice-ministerial level delegation from the United States will visit Beijing next week for "proactive and constructive talks" to flesh out trade agreements reached between President Xi Jinping and US counterpart Donald Trump in Argentina last month. The talks on January 7-8 will be the first face-to-face meeting between the two the countries over trade since Xi and Trump agreed a 90-day truce in Buenos Aires on December 1.

Deputy US trade representative Jeffrey Gerrish will lead the American delegation. The visit was only finalized after a "vice-ministerial level" phone call on Friday morning, highlighting Beijing's eagerness to confirm the meeting, with the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) yet to confirm the visit. "Both sides have the intention to solve the trade problems," Lian Ping, the chief economist for the Bank of Communications, the fifth largest Chinese lender, said. Xu Jianwei, senior China economist from Natixis in Hong Kong, said it is almost certain that Beijing and Washington will find common ground this time to avoid an escalation of the trade war. "The Chinese side will make significant concessions, and the US side is in need of some good results as well," Xu said. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for a smooth transition to be made as God takes control of these meetings and guides the hearts and minds of all those involved. We pray for peace and that the powers of darkness be broken as the Lord steps in and brings an amazing result from the meetings. We pray in Jesus' Name.

- "O Lord how great are Your works! and Your thoughts are very deep." (Psalm 92:5)

A Special Message

Judge Jeanine Pirro: Rashida Tlaib, this is my message for you -- Do what you were elected to do

This week newly elected Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, just hours after the honor of being sworn in to the United States Congress had this to say:

"When your son looks at you and says, "Mama, look you won. Bullies don't win," and I said, "Baby, they don't. Because we are going to go in there and we're going to impeach the [expletive deleted]."

Rashida, so our country allows your family to come here, start a new life in America with all its advantages, protections and privileges -- unlike anything they experienced in Palestine -- and your first act after being allowed the privilege of running for the U.S. Congress and then winning a seat in that hallowed chamber, the People's House is to curse out the president of the United States? Promising his impeachment with absolutely no facts to support the charge, violating the very Constitution you just swore to uphold.
And by the way, show me where in the Constitution, Rashida, it says you can impeach a president because you hate him? The greatest nation on Earth, through its largesse opens its doors and lays out the welcome mat for your mother and father, whom I'm sure thanked God when they got here, and you get to the national stage and call the commander-in-Chief a "mother-effer" in a public forum? Demanding impeachment? Who are you? (Fox News) Read more

Signs and Wonders

"End-Time News"

Rivers around world turn blood red

Last month, WND reported the stunning phenomenon of hailstorms in the Saudi desert.

Those who watch for signs of the end times also noted lightning and hail in the remote Australian landscape, and hail that killed at least one person and livestock in Swaziland.

Now there's more.

Bodies of water have been turning red around the globe.

It is Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz at Breaking Israel News who has kept up the reporting on the strange events.

Noting it was like a "plague" that struck biblical Egypt, he reported rivers in Malawi and Indonesia suddenly turned color.

"The Linthipe River in Dedza, Africa, turned blood red last Wednesday, shocking residents living along the river. The river is the center of life in the village and the women were the first to notice the phenomenon when they came to do laundry in the afternoon," he reported.

A report from Malawi 24 quoted one woman saying: "As usual, we came to this place to wash our clothes besides drawing water for home use. But to our surprise we saw that blood like stuff was flowing in the river. This scared us and we called some people to witness the bizarre circumstances."

Group Village Head Nthandizi said, "A lot of conflicting information has emerged, with some saying it could be red oxide while others say it is blood and others say this has to do with science."

Then the same thing happened in Jayapura, on Indonesia's island of New Guinea. (WND) Read more

The Good News Corner

Jesus, the Temple and an Ancient Stone Weight

(Israel)-[Israel Today] "An amazing archaeological discovery." This is how Prime Minister Netanyahu called the recent discovery of a 3,000-year-old beka stone used for weighing a half-shekel worth of silver. The little weight stone was found during on-going excavations at the foundation of the Western Wall. Obviously, Netanyahu is using this finding as an opportunity to debunk the false Palestinian narrative that traces their origin not to the Arabian Peninsula, but to one of the nations of ancient Canaan, like the Philistines and the Hittites.

Archeological findings proving the obvious-that the so-called "Palestinians" have no history in the Land of Israel-continue producing an abundance of material validating both Biblical and extra- Biblical sources that tell the story of the people of Israel in the Land of Israel.

The tiny stone inscribed with the inverted Hebrew "beka," is one only a handful of First Temple-period weight-measuring stones ever found, and the only one found with its inscription intact. It was found thanks to the Emek Tzurim Sifting Project. This volunteer-based project recovers archeological artifacts from 400 truckloads of topsoil removed during the 1996-1999 construction of the huge new underground el-Marwani Mosque built in the space known as Solomon's Stables. This illegal digging by the Muslim Waqf, which Israel did nothing to stop, was supposed to erase any Jewish connection to the Temple Mount.

The sifting project itself, began in 2004 as a private initiative of Israeli archaeologists Gabriel Barkay and Zachi Dvira, has yielded hundreds of artifacts, including coins, jewelry and fragments of the Second Temple floor tiling. Since 2017, the project has been funded by the Israel Archaeology Foundation. The beka weight is dated to the time of Solomon's Temple that stood in Jerusalem from the 10th to the 6th century BC. The beka, or half-shekel (Exodus 38:26), weighing 11.33 grams (0.4 ounces of silver, $4.5 in today's value), was an annual "ransom money" every Israelite man from 20-years-old was commanded to give for the Temple service: "each one must pay the Lord a ransom for his life" (Exodus 30:12).
