"Praying for All in Authority"
Tuesday, June 11, 2019
"I will not enter my house or go to my bed, I will allow no sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, till I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob." (Psalm 132:3-5)
[The last words of Jean Ribault, October 10, 1565, as he lay dying on the sands of Matanzas Inlet, Florida. Ribault was the leader of the Huguenot martyrs, who hence dedicated our land and soil to "the God of Jacob." Thank You, Lord. Amen.]

3. Palestinians Announce 'Popular Uprising' Against Trump Peace Plan - United With Israel
A "popular Palestinian uprising" against U.S. President Donald Trump's Mideast peace plan was announced Sunday following a meeting of PLO faction representatives, Palestinian civil society organizations and private individuals in the West Bank city of el-Bireh. The protests are to coincide with the U.S.-sponsored June 25-26 "Peace to Prosperity" conference in Bahrain, where the United States is expected to reveal the first, economic stage of Trump's peace plan.
According to The Jerusalem Post, PLO Executive Committee member Wasel Abu Yusef said the meeting was the first in a series focusing on "popular activities to confront American-Israeli schemes aimed at eliminating the rights of the Palestinian people."

4. Israeli politicians react warmly to Friedman's remarks about Judea and Samaria - World Israel News
U.S. Ambassador David Friedman's remarks to The New York Times published on Sunday that Israel "has the right to retain some, but unlikely all, of the West Bank" elicited a strong positive reaction from Israeli politicians, who saw it as step away from the earlier U.S. position that Judea and Samaria must be reserved for a Palestinian state.
The Likud's Gilad Erdan, who serves as minister of public security and minister of education, said on Sunday, "The world view of the Trump administration, which was expressed by Ambassador (David) Friedman, is the only one that might bring about a change and make the Palestinians understand that boycotting Israel and the United States, and their support for terror and incitement and will not bring them any achievements."
Erdan also dismissed Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas as someone capable of reaching a settlement. "In the era of Abu Mazen [nom de guerre of Abbas] there already won't be any political negotiations.

5. Gabbay Gives Himself Second Slot On Labor List While Rousso Opts Out - Jerusalem Post
Two months after leading Labor to only six seats in the April 9 election, party chairman Avi Gabbay reserved himself as the party's No. 2 candidate in the September 17 election, according to a proposal published on the party website.
The proposal to keep the same list of Knesset candidates but with an as-yet-unselected new leader is expected to be approved at Wednesday's Labor convention. It already passed the party's executive committee, which is made up primarily of Gabbay handpicked loyalists.
"On Tuesday, Gabbay told the executive committee he would not be on the Knesset list, but on Thursday the committee voted on a slate that included him as No. 2, and Gabbay voted for it," said a source who attended the meeting.

At least one person was killed after a helicopter made a "hard landing" on the roof of a high-rise building in New York City on Monday, sparking a massive emergency response, officials said.
The New York Police Department said preliminary information shows the helicopter made a "hard landing " on the roof of 787 Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan and a fire has been extinguished. The 54-story high-rise building is located just north of the famed Times Square.
The New York Fire Department said there is currently one fatality reported. It does not appear anyone else was on board when the crash occurred at around 2 p.m. (Read more)

2. Mexican military begins taking action against migrants after striking deal with President Trump - The Blaze
The Mexican military has deployed and is taking action against migrants after Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador struck a deal with President Donald Trump to prevent the implementation of tariffs on Mexican imports.
The Mexican National Guard is targeting migrants just north of the Guatemalan-Mexican border, where migrants hitch a ride north on a train known as "The Beast," the Washington Examiner reported.
"The National Guard was placed on one side, a moment that was used by more than 200 migrants who got off the train and fled," Nataniel Hernández Núñe, director of the Digna Ochoa Human Rights Center, told Mexican media.
When the military confronted the migrants, Hernández explained that many fled and hid in surrounding bush. Only 25 migrants were actually detained, he said. (Read more)
- Father, we pray that these actions by Mexico will be successful and fulfill the promise they made to President Trump.

3. MS-13 Gang Member Used Chickenpox-Infected Toddler for Fake Family Claim - Breitbart
An MS-13 gang member utilized an 18-month-old girl with chickenpox to make a fraudulent migrant family claim to gain entry into the U.S., federal officials said. El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents found a migrant with a small child he allegedly claimed to be his daughter. The child was determined to be infected with chickenpox, according to information obtained from El Centro Sector Border Patrol officials.
Further investigation, including a biometric background investigation, revealed the man to have ties to the MS-13 gang. Investigators also determined the little girl is not the child of the man attempting to make a family migrant claim, officials tweeted.(Read more)
- Father, we thank You that You are rooting out these fake families and protecting the children from their nefarious plans.

Oklahoma Republican state Sen. Jonathan Nichols was found dead Friday, making him the second GOP state senator to be shot to death in the last two days. Police reportedly found Nichols, 53, dead by a gunshot wound in Norman, Oklahoma, Wednesday night. His death comes two days after police reportedly discovered former Arkansas Republican state Sen. Linda Collins-Smith dead from a gunshot wound and wrapped in some kind of blanket.
The Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office is working with police investigators to determine Nichols' cause of death. Oklahoma Republican House Speaker Charles McCall released a statement after his death, state newspaper The Oklahoman reported.
"I am shocked and incredibly saddened to learn that Jonathan has passed away," McCall said. "He was a valuable member of my staff and a friend. Jonathan was a very proud man, but he served humbly." (Read more)

5. Oberlin Social Justice Racism Hoax Costs the College $11.2 Million - Daily Caller Oberlin College was hit with a $11.2 million verdict on Friday after its students and faculty falsely accused Gibson's Bakery of engaging in racial profiling. The Lorain County, Ohio jury found that the notoriously liberal college and its vice president and dean of students, Meredith Raimondo, "interfered with business relationships and libeled" Gibson's, a family-owned bakery, as well as its owners, David Gibson and his son Allyn, according to the Chronicle-Telegram. The college itself was found to have "inflicted emotional distress" on business owners. $5.8 million went to David. Allyn received $3 million, and the bakery itself received $2.2 million. (Read more)

6. Christian Florist Will Appeal to the Supreme Court in Same-Sex Wedding Dispute - Daily Signal
A florist who refused to create floral arrangements for a same-sex wedding will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court after a Washington state court ruled Thursday that she violated the state's civil rights law.
The case presents the high court with an opportunity to decide whether conservative religious believers can use the First Amendment as a defense against laws requiring accommodation of LGBT people, a question the justices ducked in the 2018 Masterpiece Cakeshop ruling.
"I could lose my business and life savings simply because I declined to celebrate and participate in a sacred event that violates my faith," the florist, Barronelle Stutzman, said following Thursday's decision. "No artist or creative professional should be forced by the government to create custom work that conflicts with their deeply held beliefs. That's why I will appeal my case to the U.S. Supreme Court." (Read more)
- Lord, we pray that You will be the advocate that brings victory to Barronelle in this case.

7. Trump admin tells U.S. embassies they can't fly pride flag on flagpoles - NBC
The administration is rejecting requests from U.S. embassies to fly the rainbow flag on flagpoles during June, LGBTQ Pride Month, say 3 U.S. diplomats. The Trump administration is rejecting requests from U.S. embassies to fly the rainbow pride flag on embassy flagpoles during June, LGBTQ Pride Month, three American diplomats told NBC News.
The U.S. embassies in Israel, Germany, Brazil and Latvia are among those that have requested permission from Trump's State Department to fly the pride flag on their flagpoles and have been denied, diplomats said.
Although the pride flag can and is being flown elsewhere on embassy grounds, including inside embassies and on exterior walls, the decision not to allow it on the official flagpole stands in contrast to President Donald Trump's claim to be a leader in supporting LGBTQ rights overseas. Trump's administration has announced a campaign to decriminalize homosexuality overseas and this month issued a tweet and formal statement to "celebrate LGBT Pride Month and recognize the outstanding contributions LGBT people have made." 8. Supreme Court rejects atheists' attempt to scrub 'In God We Trust' off US currency - Fox News
The Supreme Court rejected an atheist case Monday to remove "In God We Trust," the national motto, from all coins and currency from the Department of Treasury.
Michael Newdow, the same activist attorney who tried to remove "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance, lost his case, arguing Congress' mandate to inscribe "In God We Trust" on currency was a government endorsement of religion and a violation of the First Amendment.
Newdow argued in his petition to the Supreme Court that because his clients are all atheist individuals or atheist groups, the government violated their "sincere religious belief" that there is no God and turned them into "political outsiders" by placing the phrase "In God We Trust" on their money.
The justices rejected his petition without comment. (Read more)

9. Rep. Ilhan Omar jointly filed tax returns prior to legal marriage - Star Tribune
U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar was 19 years old in 2002 when she first applied for a Hennepin County marriage license with Ahmed Hirsi, a fellow Somali immigrant and "the love of my life."
Though the couple would have three children together, split, and later reconcile, they never legally married until January of 2018. By then Omar represented a state House seat from Minneapolis and was on her way to a historic and ultimately successful run for Congress.
Long-standing questions about her complicated marriage and immigration history have dogged her ever since, never more so than on Thursday when a state campaign finance board revealed that Omar and Hirsi filed joint tax returns in 2014 and 2015 - a period when she was legally married to another man. The disclosure followed an inquiry sparked by a Republican lawmaker accusing Omar of using cash from her 2016 state House campaign to cover legal costs from her 2017 divorce from Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a British national she had legally married in 2009 after her breakup with Hirsi.
Although the Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board cleared Omar in the divorce case, the probe determined that campaign money was used for unrelated legal services pertaining to her joint tax filings with Hirsi. She was ordered to reimburse $1,500 in legal fees used to "correct" her 2014 and 2015 tax returns.(Read more)
- Lord, if this woman has deceived the IRS and State Department over either her immigration status or her campaign finances, we pray that she will be held accountable. We ask that same standard for all members of Congress who violate the law.
- "An evildoer gives heed to false lips; a liar listens eagerly to a spiteful tongue."(Proverbs 17:4)
10. Ocasio-Cortez wants to make it easier to study magic mushrooms, other psychedelic drugs - Fox News
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., filed legislation on Friday to make it easier for researchers to study the therapeutic and medical benefits of certain psychedelic drugs such as magic mushrooms amid a growing national shift in attitudes toward the substances.
In an amendment to a large-scale appropriations bill, Ocasio-Cortez wants to end the rider that prohibits federal money being spent on "any activity that promotes the legalization of any drug or other substance in Schedule I" of the Controlled Substances Act.
"Academics and scientists report that provisions like this create [stigma] and insurmountable logistical hurdles to researching Schedule I drugs," her summary states. While certain entheogenic substances - such as mushrooms and peyote - have been used for centuries by Native American communities, the drugs were widely made illegal across the globe during the 1960s and 1970s. The tide, however, seems to be turning on these substances amid research at numerous universities into their efficacy in treating mental health issues and addiction. (Read more)
- Father, while we are aware that certain Schedule I drugs seem to help veterans and others, we pray that it will be Your healing power that sets them free. We ask that only Your will be done with regard to the ideas of this Congresswoman.
- "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it." (Psalm 127:1)

Because we need to remember
Many in the news media are hailing President Donald Trump's speech in Normandy, France commemorating D-Day as his best ever. Maybe it's just a biscuit toss by the media to try to show they are unbiased. Then it will be back to business as usual. Notwithstanding, the President honored those who fought at Normandy 75 years ago, those who sacrificed, those who gave their lives that you and I can actually be free in reading this Daily Jot in American English rather than being forced to read it secretly in German or Japanese under Fascist rule. A heroic and serious generation saved us from tyranny. It was a selfless sacrifice that we need to remember in this time when political intolerance blows across America.
The President began by recounting the story of Normandy with vivid imagery: "Their mission is the story of an epic battle and the ferocious, eternal struggle between good and evil . . . After months of planning, the Allies had chosen this ancient coastline to mount their campaign to vanquish the wicked tyranny of the Nazi empire from the face of the Earth . . . They came from the farms of a vast heartland, the streets of glowing cities, and the forges of mighty industrial towns. Before the war, many had never ventured beyond their own community. Now they had come to offer their lives half a world from home . . . The GIs who boarded the landing craft that morning knew that they carried on their shoulders not just the pack of a soldier, but the fate of the world.
"Down on the beach, Captain Joe Dawson, the son of a Texas preacher, led Company G through a minefield to a natural fold in the hillside, still here. Just beyond this path to my right, Captain Dawson snuck beneath an enemy machine gun perch and tossed his grenades. Soon, American troops were charging up "Dawson's Draw." What a job he did. What bravery he showed . . . These men ran through the fires of hell moved by a force no weapon could destroy: the fierce patriotism of a free, proud, and sovereign people. They battled not for control and domination, but for liberty, democracy, and self-rule. They pressed on for love in home and country - the Main Streets, the schoolyards, the churches and neighbors, the families and communities that gave us men such as these.
"They were sustained by the confidence that America can do anything because we are a noble nation, with a virtuous people, praying to a righteous God. The exceptional might came from a truly exceptional spirit. The abundance of courage came from an abundance of faith . . . As they confronted their fate, the Americans and the Allies placed themselves into the palm of God's hand." In reading Trump's speech, I am reminded of the verses in Isaiah 41:12-13, "They that war against you shall be as nothing, and as a thing of naught. For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." I'm sure there was fear aplenty on June 6, 1944, but if they could tell you today, these brave men may also say in the moment that mattered there was no fear as the Lord helped them. Praise God that He was with them.
Have a blessed and powerful day,

Christian School Hit with SWAT-Style Raid, CA Demands They Allow
Sexual Exploration or Be Shut Down
A Christian school in California is facing a huge battle with the state.
Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) is representing River View Christian Academy in northern California. The school was raided earlier in the year, SWAT style, by the state.
According to PJI, the raid was carried out by 16 armed law enforcement from California Highway Patrol, two canine units and 17 social workers. Students and staff were horrified by the sudden and unexpected attack.
The state was misled into thinking that the school was harboring illegal drugs, amassing ammunition, and preparing for doomsday.
. . . Even though results from the raid did not uncover any apocalyptic, end-times type of scenario, the state has not stopped and is fining the school daily with claims of improper licensing.
The state is now saying that, due to recent legislation, it is no longer possible for a private boarding school to operate without a considerable amount of licensing and oversight by the Department of Social Services.
With the increase in licensing, the Christian school would have to abandon their biblical values. The state requires that licensed facilities allow students to have the right to engage in spiritual and sexual exploration, which contradicts the standards set by RVCA and the morals of many parents, the Pacific Justice Institute said.
PJI attorney Kevin Snider says the school is being targeted because it's part of a ministry for at-risk youth.
He wrote, "In 25 years of practice, I have never seen this level of aggressive, militant, and ideologically-driven conduct by a state agency against a religious institution."
In April, a federal judge dismissed part of the case saying that it must go through the state's administrative process. Fines continue to collect for RVCA and PJI has begun pursuing an administrative appeal.

Is the Great Red Spot Unraveling?
(Update)
May 20, 2019: Around the world, amateur astronomers are monitoring a strange phenomenon on the verge of Jupiter's Great Red Spot (GRS). The giant storm appears to be unraveling. "I haven't seen this before in my 17-or-so years of imaging Jupiter," reports veteran observer Anthony Wesley of Australia, who photographed a streamer of gas detaching itself from the GRS on May 19th.
The plume of gas is enormous, stretching more than 10,000 km from the central storm to a nearby jet stream that appears to be carrying it away. Wesley says that such a streamer is peeling off every week or so.
The Great Red Spot is the biggest storm in the solar system-an anticyclone wider than Earth with winds blowing 350 mph. Astronomers have been observing it for hundreds of years. In recent decades, the Great Red Spot has been shrinking. Once it was wide enough to swallow three Earths; now only one of our planet could fit inside the maelstrom. This has led some researchers to wonder if the GRS could break up or disappear within our lifetimes. Perhaps the streamers are part of this process.
In fact, such unraveling clouds have been seen before. For instance, the Gemini North adaptive optics telescope on Maunakea saw a lesser but similar streamer in May of 2017.
The leader of those observations, Glenn Orton of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, noted "a curious hook-like cloud feature on the Great Red Spot's western side. Events like this show that there's still much to learn about Jupiter's atmosphere," he said in a press release.
Wesley describes how the streamers are behaving now: "Each streamer appears to disconnect from the Great Red Spot and dissipate. Then, after about a week, a new streamer forms and the process repeats. You have to be lucky to catch it happening. Jupiter spins on its axis every 10 hours and the GRS is not always visible. A joint effort between many amateurs is underway to get clear images of the process."
Indeed, now is a great time to monitor the action. Jupiter is approaching Earth for a close encounter in June 2019. During the weeks around opposition on June 10th, Jupiter will shine 4 times brighter than Sirius, the brightest star in the sky, and even small telescopes will reveal its storms, moons, and cloud belts.
Stay tuned for more unraveling.

The Good News Corner
Pro-Life Victory in Connecticut Called "Miraculous; an Act of God"
Peter Wolfgang, executive director of the Family Institute of Connecticut (FIC), said in a statement sent to Breitbart News, the "Anti-Pregnancy Center" bill (HB7070) "was defeated because pro-lifers rose up in deep blue Connecticut and fought back.
Wolfgang also told CT Mirror the death of the bill in the State Senate after it passed the House - with Democrat majorities in each chamber - was "an act of God."
The bill, introduced by Democrats and lobbied for by abortion industry advocates such as NARAL, made the claim pro-life pregnancy centers engage in "deceptive advertising practices" that lure women into believing they offer abortions.
According to CT Mirror, a pregnancy care center's website that displayed the words, "Thinking about abortion?" was considered "deceptive" because abortion proponents claimed the center was implying it could deliver medical advice.
"We successfully showed even pro-choice politicians that this was a radical bill that unconstitutionally discriminated against pro-lifers because of our political viewpoint," Wolfgang told Breitbart News. "The bill's defeat is a humiliating blow to NARAL's Connecticut chapter, which lost even politicians it had helped to elect."
