4. Arabs riot on Temple Mount to protest Jews ascending to celebrate Jerusalem Day - World Israel News

Arabs rioted on the Temple Mount Sunday morning in reaction to permission being given for Jewish visitors to enter on Jerusalem Day, which happens to fall during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, Kan Israel News reported.

A police spokesperson said that as a result of the disturbances, "the commander of the Jerusalem District Major Gen. Doron Yedid ordered police to enter the Temple Mount and deal with the rioters."

Young Muslim men threw rocks and other objects. Tear gas was shot at them in response. In one video of the scene, women are heard screaming "Allahu Akhbar" (God is great), apparently at the security forces.

Only after the rioting was quelled, with one arrest reportedly being made, were the Jewish visitors allowed to ascend the Temple Mount, the report said.

5. Nasrallah Says Hezbollah Has Precision Missiles That Could Strike Targets Throughout Israel - HAARETZ

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said on Friday that his Shi'ite organization has enough precision missiles to hit all the targets it has marked throughout the State of Israel.

Speaking at a nightttime rally in Beirut to mark Quds, or Jerusalem day, the leader of the Lebanese group said that the missiles could "change the face of the region."

The Islamic Republic initiated Jerusalem Day in 1979, and it marks it annually on the last Friday of the month of Ramadan. The day's goal is to express solidarity with Palestinians as well as resistance to Zionism and to Israel.

6. Israel Strikes Syria Following Rocket Fire; 10 Syrian, Iranian, Hezbollah Militants Said Killed - HAARETZ

The Israeli army confirmed Sunday that it had struck a number of military targets in Syria overnight Saturday after two rockets were fired toward the Golan Heights.

Syrian state media reported that three Syrian soldiers were killed and seven were wounded in the strike, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that 10 were killed, seven of which were Iranian and Hezbollah militants.

Another outlet, aligned with the Assad regime, reported that five Syrians were killed. The Syrian government has not confirmed either report.

7. Top Likud minister raises possibility of unity government with Blue and White - Times of Israel

Regional Cooperation Minister Tzachi Hanegbi of Likud said Saturday he could envision Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu inviting opposition Blue and White to form a unity government following the next general election if the party stops "ruling out" the prime minister as a potential partner.

Speaking to Channel 12's "Meet the Press," Hanegbi indicated a Likud-Blue and White government could solve the political deadlock that led to the collapse of recent attempts to build a coalition and which may very well persist following the September 17 national poll.

Blue and White "ruled out Bibi because they thought it would lead to a [leadership] change inside Likud," Hanegbi said, using Netanyahu's nickname. "They didn't understand Likud's essence."

Hanegbi said he believed if Blue and White party leaders Benny Gantz and Yair Lapid "make a switch and say 'I am willing to sit in a government with Netanyahu,' we'll have a unity government with impressive achievements."

8. Netanyahu fires Justice Minister Shaked and Education Minister Bennett - Israel Hayom

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired Education Minister Naftali Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, Israel Hayom has learned.

No exact reason was cited for the decision, although there has been speculation of an upcoming reshuffle in his transition government as hear gears up for the September 17 election.

Bennett and Shaked issued a statement following the announcement saying that "we thank the Israeli public from the bottom of our heart on the great priviedge of serving it in those ministries. Everything we did was for the State of Israel and for its people."

Both outgoing ministers said they would oversee an orderly handover of the ministries to their successors to ensure that work would continue with minimal disruption and the 2019-2020 school year would open as scheduled.

1. Barr: "Resisting A Democratically Elected President" Is Destroying Our Norms And Institutions, Not Trump - RealClearPolitics

In an interview aired Friday on "CBS This Morning," Attorney General William Barr explains why he opened an investigation into the origins of the Russia investigation. He doesn't say what the evidence is, but Barr tells CBS News legal correspondent Jan Crawford that there is evidence that makes him believe senior government officials may have acted improperly to authorize surveillance of President Trump's 2016 campaign. He says that led to "spying" on the campaign.

He said the hyper-politicized nature of politics today is a danger to longstanding institutions and he took the job of attorney general because he is at the end of his career. "Everything is gauged by politics, and I say that is antithetical to the way the Department [of Justice] runs. I love the Department of Justice, I love the FBI, I think it is important that in this period of intense partisan feelings we do not destroy our institutions."

"One of the ironies today is that people are saying it is President Trump who is shredding our institutions. I really see no evidence of that. From my perspective, the idea of 'resisting' a Democratically elected president and basically throwing everything at him, and really changing the norms on the grounds that we have to stop this president. That's where the shredding of our norms and institutions is occurring," Barr said. (Read more)

- Father, we pray Attorney General Barr's words will break through the deception that causes so much division in our nation. Help him expose all the wrongdoing and follow through with disciplinary and prosecutorial action.

- Good people obtain favor from the Lord, but he condemns those who devise wicked schemes. (Proverbs 12:2)

2. Soros, Wallace Help Bankroll Dark Money Fund Aimed at Midwestern Voters - FreeBeacon

Liberal billionaires George Soros and Scott Wallace are helping bankroll a new fund hosted by an intricate dark money organization and focused on helping Democrats make inroads with midwestern voters for the 2020 elections.

The deep-pocketed donors moved the money from the Open Society Foundations, Soros's foundation, and the Wallace Global Fund, Wallace's foundation, to the newly launched Heartland Fund, a collaborative effort focused on building "power across the divides of the American heartland" as overall Democratic efforts have veered towards the region.

Soros and Wallace are both members of the Democracy Alliance, the left's most powerful dark money donor network. Democracy Alliance members have pushed $1.83 billion into progressive infrastructure since its inception but have, at least temporarily, shifted their focus to state-based initiatives, including targeting rural areas. The alliance is planning to spend at least $275 million for the 2020 elections, confidential memos on its upcoming efforts show.

Liberal operative David Brock, the Clinton loyalist and founder of Media Matters, additionally has mapped out a $50 million plan to "weaken" Trump in midwestern states using American Bridge. Priorities USA, the largest liberal super PAC, has plans to pour $100 million into immediate efforts. These will focus on a handful of states, including Michigan and Wisconsin. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we pray for the souls of Messrs. Soros, Wallace, and Brock to take a turn and focus on where they will spend eternity. Their money has given them earthly power, but when they die, their money cannot go with them. What awaits them should compel them to repent and allow God to save their souls by the Blood of Jesus. We pray this in the Name of Jesus.

- "For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be repented of; but the sorrow of the world works death." (2 Corinthians 7:10)

3. Team Obama Tells Iran: Don't Escalate, Don't Take Trump's Bait - Daily Beast

As the Trump administration sent warplanes and an aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf, a small group of former Obama administration officials reached out to their contacts in the Iranian government, including Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. Their message to Iran: Don't take Trump's bait. Stay calm.

Conversations between former Obama officials and Iranian government officials have been ongoing since November 2016. Zarif, who visits the U.S. every year for the U.N. General Assembly in New York, usually meets with lawmakers, think tanks, journalists, and former officials when he is in town.

A Republican congressional aide who works on Iran policy told The Daily Beast the conversations may run counter to the Trump administration's messaging to the Iranian government. "It's not just about what they were saying to the Iranians," the aide said. "It's about what they were saying to their political allies back here in the U.S. Their strategy was to divide and isolate the Trump administration just as the Trump administration was trying to re-establish deterrence with Iran. In the current highly partisan political environment, the only safe course is to signal national unity-and they contributed to eroding that at home and abroad." (Read more)

- Almighty God, we ask that You stop the actions of the Obama group who are warring against President Trump. Lord, dispatch angels to visit their camps and disarm them and bring them down. Intervene for our President in ways that are more effective than can be comprehended by the minds of men. Stop the enemies in America who are waging all-out war against him by sending in the heavenly host to bring an end to it all. We pray in Jesus' Name.

- "For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and He ponders all his goings. His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall beholden with the cords of his sins. He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray." (Proverbs 6:21-23)

4. Trump announces escalating tariffs against Mexico, starting at 5 percent, until illegal immigrants 'STOP' - Fox News

President Trump on Thursday abruptly announced a new 5 percent tariff on Mexico beginning in early June, saying the levy will "gradually increase" until the ongoing illegal immigration surge at the southern border is "remedied" and illegal migrants "STOP."

Fox News is told the tariff on all goods by land, sea, and air from Mexico will hike to 10 percent on July 1 -- and potentially increase substantially from there. "If Mexico still has not taken action to dramatically reduce or eliminate the number of illegal aliens crossing its territory into the United States, Tariffs will be increased to 15 percent on August 1, 2019, to 20 percent on September 1, 2019, and to 25 percent on October 1, 2019," Trump said in a statement released later by the White House on Thursday.

"Tariffs will permanently remain at the 25 percent level unless and until Mexico substantially stops the illegal inflow of aliens coming through its territory." The statement added: "Thousands of innocent lives are taken every year as a result of this lawless chaos. It must end NOW! Mexico's passive cooperation in allowing this mass incursion constitutes an emergency and extraordinary threat to the national security and economy of the United States." (Read more)

- Righteous God, stop the lawless chaos of illegal immigrants from crossing the southern border into America, which constitutes an emergency and extraordinary threat to the national security and economy of the United States. Send angels from heaven to stand guard along our southern border to save thousands of innocent lives. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

- "'This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt'"
(Job 38:11)

5. US investigating Honduran president for cocaine smuggling and money laundering - Washington Examiner

Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández is one of the main targets of a Drug Enforcement Administration investigation into "large-scale drug-trafficking and money laundering activities" related to the "importation of cocaine into the United States," according to a court filing.

The document, filed Thursday, states the DEA has been investigating Hernández and eight others since 2013. Hernández became president in January 2014.

"Hernandez and his criminal associates allegedly conspired with some of the world's most deadly and dangerous transnational criminal networks in Mexico and Colombia to flood American streets with deadly drugs," Special Agent in Charge Raymond Donovan said in a statement. (Read more)

- Father God, we thank You for this report, for no one is above Your law, anywhere on the earth. We thank You that our own DEA agents have done their work thoroughly and we pray that this man will now be brought to justice. Thank You, O Lord, we pray, amen.

- " . . . if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven." (Matthew 18:19)

6. Trump administration to ask most US visa applicants for social media information - The Hill

The Trump administration will implement a new policy Friday asking most applicants for U.S. visas to provide information on their use of social media, a U.S. Department of State official tells Hill.TV.

Most visa applicants, including temporary visitors, will be required to list their social media identifiers in a drop down menu along with other personal information. The social media identifiers will be incorporated into a background check review against watchlists generated by the U.S. government.

Applicants will also be required in the future to turn more extensive information on their travel history. The policy stems from a March 2017 executive order issued by President Trump intended to put "extreme vetting" into place. The State Department published its intent to implement the policy in March 2018. (Read more)

- Father God, this is another reason to offer You praise, Holy One. We thank You that our President is clamping down on all who want to enter our nation, so that only those who will be responsible citizens in the U.S. will be admitted. Thank You, Lord, amen and amen.

- "Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord." (Psalm 150:6)

7. Justice Department Declines to Prosecute Serial FBI Leaker - Epoch Times

The Department of Justice declined to prosecute a senior FBI official linked to the Clinton-email investigation, despite evidence that he or she leaked information from a sealed federal court filing in violation of federal law, according to an investigative summary released by the DOJ inspector general on May 29.

The inspector general discovered evidence that a deputy assistant director (DAD) at the FBI leaked sealed federal court information and sensitive law enforcement information to the media. The FBI official also had dozens of contacts with the media in violation of FBI policy, according to the findings.

The same official also violated federal statutes and FBI policy by accepting a ticket valued at $225 to a media-sponsored dinner as a gift from a member of the media, the inspector general determined.

The inspector general's single-page summary noted that "a preponderance of evidence" was found to establish each charge. "Prosecution of the DAD was declined," according to the watchdog's statement. The name of the DAD isn't provided in the document. Fired FBI official Peter Strzok held the DAD title when he was the lead agent on the Clinton-email investigation. (Read more)

- Father, we ask that this ruling be negated and placed under review. In Your Name, amen.

- "Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just . . . " (Psalm 7:9)

8. Trump Celebrates LGBT Pride Month, Urges World to Decriminalize Homosexuality - Breitbart

President Donald Trump tweeted "As we celebrate LGBT Pride Month and recognize the outstanding contributions LGBT people have made to our great Nation, let us also stand in solidarity with the many LGBT people who live in dozens of countries worldwide that punish, imprison, or even execute individuals on the basis of their sexual orientation. My Administration has launched a global campaign to decriminalize homosexuality and invite all nations to join us in this effort!"

Trump has frequently been attacked by LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) activists on the left, particularly for his administration's policies on transgenderism. Trump has barred transgender individuals from serving in the military, and reversed Barack Obama's policies encouraging public schools to provide for transgender bathrooms. His administration also recently insisted on sticking to a definition of sexual discrimination that refers to biological sex.

More broadly, however, President Trump has championed gay rights at home and abroad. Trump championed gay voices within the GOP since his campaign, when he backed Peter Thiel at the Republican National Convention. Trump appointed U.S. ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell, one of the highest-ranking gay officials. His administration has launched a global campaign to decriminalize homosexuality. (Read more)

- Righteous Father, we ask that the presence of the Holy Spirit will come upon those practicing sexual immorality be so touched by the Lord that they will immediately repent of their unnatural practices and turn to the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Lord, we pray there be a great and mighty manifestation of the call to holiness across America. In Jesus' Name we pray.

- "Give glory to the Lord your God, before He cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and while you look for light, He turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness." (Jeremiah 13:16)

9. DoD bought phony military gear made in China, including counter-night vision clothing that didn't actually work - Military Times

The U.S. military, government agencies and other purchasers bought more than $20 million worth of Chinese-made counterfeit goods designed to look like domestically produced gear from a company that defrauded the government and helped to orchestrate the counterfeiting process between January 2013 and October 2018, Justice Department officials said last week.

The counterfeit gear included 200 specialized parkas designed to counter night vision goggles that would have been used by U.S. Air Force personnel stationed in Afghanistan. But the Multicam APECS Parkas sold to an unnamed U.S. Air Force base supply center didn't actually do that, which could have put troops' lives at risk.

The sales were in violation of the Berry Amendment and the Trade Agreements Act, which require goods sold to the military and certain government buyers to be manufactured in either the United States or select countries. (Read more)

- Lord God, we ask that You protect our military, where men have failed them. We ask that the Chinese government and/or manufacturers of this defective equipment be held accountable for their actions, and that they be heavily fined for their actions. Help us, O Lord, we pray, amen.

- " . . . deliver us from the evil one.'" (Matthew 6:13)

10. Pentagon to Counter China Threats by Funding U.S. Rare Earth Mines - American Thinker

The U.S. Defense Department requested federal funding to support the ramp-up of several American rare earth element mines after China threatened an export ban. Beijing's leadership has a plan to restrict export supply of the 17 so-called rare earth elements that are crucial to the U.S. production of military jet engines, satellites and lasers, plus consumer products from iPhones to electric cars.

Rare earth elements are not very rare, but they are found in deposits of low-level radioactive element thorium. Miners know that mining and processing thorium requires substantial environmental mitigation to protect workers and adjacent communities to avoid health risks of developing pancreatic, lung, and other cancers.

Air Force Spokesman Lt. Col. Mike Andrews in a press conference outlined the funding request that was sent to the White House and briefed to Congress. Col. Andrews emphasized: "The department continues to work closely with the president, Congress and U.S. industry to improve U.S. competitiveness in the mineral market." None of the report details were disclosed, but Col. Andrews said a federal program would employ targeted economic incentives to boost domestic rare earth production. (Read more)

- Father God, we ask that those who are developing this new strategy be guided by Your wisdom. Amen.

- "I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you." (Psalm 32:8)

11. Supreme Court declines to hear challenge to school transgender bathroom policy - Christian Post

The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear a challenge to a Pennsylvania school district's policy of allowing students to use bathrooms and locker rooms that correspond with their gender identity rather than their biological sex. In an order released Tuesday, the high court denied an appeal in Doe, Joel, et al. v. Boyertown Area School, et al., allowing a lower court's decision in favor of the school district to stand, thus allowing boys who identify as female to enters girls' bathrooms, locker rooms and showers, and vice versa.

The Alliance Defending Freedom, a conservative law firm representing a group of students suing the school district over the policy, denounced the Supreme Court's denial of appeal. ADF Senior Counsel and Vice President of Appellate Advocacy, John Bursch, said in a statement released Tuesday that he believed the decision ignored the privacy rights of students. "No student's recognized right to bodily privacy should be made contingent on what other students believe about their own gender. Because the Third Circuit's decision made a mess of bodily privacy and Title IX principles, we believe the Supreme Court should have reviewed it," stated Bursch. "But we hope the court will take up a similar case in the future to bring much needed clarity to how the lower courts should handle violations of well-established student privacy rights."

The American Civil Liberties Union, a progressive legal group that intervened in the case, celebrated the upholding of the lower court's decision. "This is an enormous victory for transgender students across the country," said Ria Tabacco Mar, senior staff attorney with the ACLU LGBT & HIV Project, in a statement released Tuesday. "This lawsuit sought to reverse that hard-won progress by excluding transgender students from school facilities that other students use. That would have increased the stigma and discrimination that transgender students already face." (Read more)

- Father God, we are weeping over this "nondecision" that has been rendered, for now, by the highest court in our land. By letting the law in Pennsylvania stand, the Supreme Court has given tacit permission for all other states to do the same.

Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. We ask that You visit this Court with Your wisdom when a similar case reaches its docket from another source. Let justice rule and reign in America, we pray, O Lord, amen.

- "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans." (Romans 8:26)

Too much of a bad thing

You may have heard the old sayings, "You can have too much of a good thing," or "All things in moderation." Maybe American's love-hate relationship with news and politics is too much of a bad thing. Have you ever thought about how we as a country focus so hard on politics that it may be harming our mental health? People are angry, depressed, losing friends, arguing with family members, and getting all riled up over what's in the news and how American politics are rolling across the channels. This obsession is not only causing stress on individuals, it is ruining relationships across the country. We may feel like walling ourselves up to hear or see no more, but that isn't a solution that will change the issue. How to deal with it?

For me, I am bombarded with news and politics and religion from the time I awaken in the morning. I try to limit the amount of news intake because much the same is coming from all the sources. I try to discern what is truth and what is lie. And I step back to keep things in perspective. Each Daily Jot requires getting into the Word of God because there is a biblical principle that is emphasized with respect to the topic covered. Being grounded in God's word is a true aid to protection from news overload. It also is a guard against becoming offended by those who misinterpret, take out of context, are belligerent, judge from the content of their own heart, or are just outright nasty-many of whom claim to be Christians.
t's easy to get out of sorts when someone is calling you names, you are being labeled as something you are not, and just being associated with a certain political or religious persuasion singles you out as a dredge of society. But the solution is not to respond in kind-that only fuels the flames and confirms in the accuser's mind that he was right. Remember, people usually accuse another of exactly what the accuser is doing-this is what I mean when I say they are judging from the content of their own heart. These are folks who often have deep-rooted problems in their lives and are projecting those onto others because they cannot discern properly. The trick is to not get angry and retaliate, but be calm and educate.
The words of the Apostle Paul come to mind as an example of how to handle too much of a bad thing. He writes in 2 Corinthians 4:8-10,"We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body." Then in Ephesians 6:13, "Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." This is followed by, "that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak." When you are overwhelmed by too much of a bad thing, remember who you are in Christ, his resurrection power, armor up with his Word, stand, and speak boldly. Focus on Christ, not news and politics.

Have a blessed and powerful day,

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

"God and our Father: To whom be glory for ever."
(Galatians 1:4-5)

Lyrics

To God be the glory, great things He has done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.
Refrain

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He has done.
O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Refrain
Great things He has taught us, great things He has done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Refrain

'I Thought We Were Going to Die': US Missionaries Ambushed,
Saved by Mysterious Man on Motorcycle

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - A sweetheart deal on petroleum between Venezuela and Haiti ended last July, which led to a 50-percent increase in the price of fuel. In response, Haitians took to the streets, burning tires and blocking roads.

In the following months, more than 70 protesters died in the riots. Amid all this strife is a rising tide of gang violence turning some parts of Haiti into No-Go zones, even for the police.

A group of Christian missionaries traveled to Haiti in April with computers and supplies for a community center they're helping to build.
Shortly after leaving the airport in Port-au-Prince, things went terribly wrong.

Fred Chalker, the founder of Living Waters Ministries was a part of the group. "About four hours or three and a half hours outside of Port-Au-Prince, we came upon a gang of people that were stopping traffic," Chalker said. "We were the first ones to hit it because we were the only ones there."

"I've been there a hundred, two hundred times, and never had any major problems, so this is not a normal thing that happened," he continued. "It's a very rare thing."
Armed Men Surround the Missionaries' Vehicle

What concerned the missionaries most was that many in the crowd were armed.

"The truck was just totally swarmed with men with guns and weapons. And they were pounding on the windows trying to break all the windows to get in," said team member Jackie Brandon.

"One man's standing there with his gun and he has two white lines down his cheek and to his chin. And it reminded me of voodoo," she said.
Team member Jeff Lee said, "We came around the corner and all of a sudden the road's blocked off, there's burning tires there's debris, it's a mass crowd of a hundred, hundred twenty people there, well armed with guns and as we started approaching they started shooting these guns up in the air. And I'll be perfectly truthful at that moment I thought we were going to die."
"I Thought We Were Going to Die"

Drew Pasler was driving the second vehicle along with the team doctor, Doug Burbella.

"As we were approaching, you know, he said, 'slow down a little bit,' so I'm kind of cautiously approaching as I'm watching these people start pouring in from the side of the road swarming the vehicle in front of me," Pasler said. "It was when I saw a rifle come around the side. We thought they were going to execute everybody. So I started reversing and Doug's yelling, 'go, go go!' and as I'm reversing that's when we started hearing the guns firing that were pointed at us."

With their vehicle disabled by the gunfire, bandits quickly overtook the truck.
"I'm Dying! I've Been Hit."

"And I could see there was a motorcycle next to us, and they had a machine gun and the window blew out behind my head. And a couple of seconds after that I heard Doug yell, 'I'm dying. I've been hit.'" Pasler said.

As the gang emptied both vehicles, the situation continued to deteriorate.

"And that's when I looked back to see [Doug's] face covered in blood and I could see he had two visible wounds and possibly more just based on the amount of blood that I saw," Pasler continued.

Then the gunman put his rifle up to Dr. Burbella's head. But before he could pull the trigger, something extraordinary happened.
The Mysterious Man on a Motorcycle

Pasler said, "Maybe thirty seconds later after they'd taken my cell phone, I could see that they had my bag out of the truck, a man on a motorcycle just kind of pulled out of nowhere in front of me. And he looked at me and said 'it's okay, it's going to be okay.' in perfect English."

"Not even yelling," Pasler continued. "Just kind of a regular talking voice. He said something in Creole, two to three words, and everybody around us that had the guns just kind of stopped."

"Everything changed," Brandon said. "The whole demeanor of the crowd just stood back. I don't know what they saw, but they stepped back and the tension was gone."
But the crisis wasn't over. Doug Burbella was slowly bleeding to death.

"Once we arrived at the vehicle and they let us know 'Hey, Doug's been shot,'" Lee said. "I immediately jumped out of the vehicle. We picked up Doug; he said 'my neck is broken,' so we picked him up, I had Fred get on the other, we picked him up and slid him into the back seat of the vehicle."
Doug Records Last Words to His Family

Leaving their disabled vehicle, they rushed Burbella to the nearest hospital, almost an hour away. Burbella wasn't sure he would make it, so he asked his friends to record his last words expressing his love to his wife and son.

Burbella was rushed from Haiti to Delray Medical Center, in Delray Beach, Florida. Surgeons removed bullets and bullet fragments from his neck and face. They said the fact he survived is nothing short of a miracle.

Now out of the hospital and recovering, Burbella wants others to learn from his ordeal.

"I want people to know that if God can carry me through this with no loss of any function, really, whatever problems you have, they're equally minuscule. It's a miracle. It's a shout-out to say your problem is equally small, and God can carry you through it."

Chemotherapy is working for the 78-year old Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek, who was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer three months ago. In a cover story with People Magazine, he revealed he is now in near-remission.

"It's kind of mind-boggling," Trebek shared. "The doctors said they hadn't seen this kind of positive results in their memory . . . some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 percent."
According to Trebek, 50,000 other Americans are diagnosed with this cancer a week and the survival rate is at a dismal 9 percent.

"With your prayers, I hope to beat the low survival statistic rates of this disease," Trebek shared in a video announcing his cancer. "So help me. Keep the faith and we will win. We'll get it done."
Trebek has been transparent in his cancer journey. Talking with Robin Roberts, a breast cancer survivor, on Good Morning America a month into his treatment, he expressed his gratitude for fans and their support. "People all over America have been sharing their good thoughts, their advice, their prayers. And I feel it is making a difference in my well-being," he said.

"I've had so many contacts from people who have survived cancer for 10 years, 12 years, 14 years," he continued. "I am now a 30-day survivor. I'm going to catch up to those other people."
Although he is edging close to remission, the game show host still has several more difficult rounds of chemotherapy to endure. He continues to host the show.

Trebek credits his fans largely to his recovery. "I've got a couple million people out there who have expressed their good thoughts, their positive energy directed towards me and their prayers," he said. "I told the doctors, this has to be more than just the chemo, and they agreed it could very well be an important part of this."

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].
Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
