A Special Invitation:
Attend the National Prayer Assembly
October 2,3,4 in Washington, D.C.
Dear Praying Friend,
You are warmly invited to join ministry leaders and intercessors from across America for a history-changing time of prayer for the USA. United prayer with heartfelt confession of our national sins has changed the course of our America's history in the past during uncertain, challenging and dangerous times. More recently, during the last National Prayer Assembly, October 27-28, 2016, U.S. prayer leaders along with other ministry leaders and intercessors sought the face of the Lord just before our national election, asking for His intervention and help.
It was surely a definitive time in God's presence that He used, along with the prayers of many thousands of other concerned believers, to bring about some major transformations we have witnessed since! As God promises, "If my people . . ." (2 Chron. 7:14) What a privilege to transact business with the Lord of the universe on behalf of our nation!
The 2018 National Prayer Assembly will be held October 2 (Prayer Tour) and 3-4 (Assembly) in Washington, D.C..As the Spirit guides and empowers, we believe it will again be a history-shaping time.
Guided by a variety of experts on the current issues facing the nation, we will then together seek the sovereign Lord of history Himself, trusting Him for the breakthroughs our nation still needs to experience. It will be just a month before the critical mid-term elections so, if you have a heart to pray, your presence and participation will be crucial.
Note also that as part of the prayer tour on October 2, we are making arrangements to hear from and pray with key government officials, possibly in both the White House and Congress, so please be sure to book your arrival in D.C. in time to take part. We will be starting at 9 am that morning with the prayer tour.
Please register now. The NPA will fill up quickly over the coming weeks.

1. NATO Confirms Russian Naval Buildup Off Syria, Calls for Restraint - HAARETZ
NATO confirmed a large scale Russian navy buildup in the Mediterranean Sea off Syria on Tuesday. "The Russian Navy has dispatched substantial naval forces to the Mediterranean, including several ships equipped with modern cruise missiles," NATO spokesperson Oana Lungescu confirmed to Haaretz in a statement.
Russian media on Tuesday called the deployment Moscow's largest naval buildup since it entered the Syrian conflict in 2015. The reinforcement comes as Russia's ally, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, is believed to be considering an assault on the last big rebel-held enclave, Idlib in the north.
Lungescu said, "Many NATO Allies border the Mediterranean, and our navies constantly operate there, so we monitor naval activity in the region, including that of Russia."

2. Abbas claims he wants a demilitarized Palestinian state - Israel National News
Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday said that he supports a demilitarized Palestinian state, the security of which will be maintained by police forces and not military forces, Kan News reported.
According to the report, Abbas made the remarks at a meeting with Israeli academics at his headquarters in Ramallah.
"I want a demilitarized Palestinian state along the 1867 borders without an army, I want unarmed policemen to hold clubs and not weapons. Instead of planes and tanks, I prefer to set up schools and hospitals and allocate budgets and resources to social institutions," said the PA chairman, according to Kan News, which cited two sources who attended the meeting.
One of Abbas' associates confirmed to Kan that Abbas indeed made the remarks during the meeting with the academics. Opposition leader MK Tzipi Livni commented on the report and tweeted that Abbas "indeed agreed to the demilitarization of the Palestinian state in the negotiations I had with him."

3. Shin Bet exposes largely female Hamas terror cell in Hebron - World Israel News
The Israel Security Agency - with the assistance of the IDF and the Israel Police - in recent weeks uncovered an extensive Hamas network in Hebron, which included several women who operated in secret at the behest of Hamas command centers abroad and in the Gaza Strip. The network was used - inter alia - to transfer messages and instructions, transfer funds to finance terrorist operations and coordinate operations with the aforesaid command centers.
The ISA investigation revealed that the network promoted Hamas activity in Hebron, including the recruitment of operatives, coordinating activity at mosques, preaching and increasing support, disseminating online information and incitement and assisting the families of prisoners. The network also tried to take control of municipal activities in Hebron and manage the activities of charitable institutions in the city.

4. Hamas Tries to Infiltrate Israel by Sea - Jerusalem Online
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has deployed Border Guard forces in the southern coastal city of Ashkelon due to concerns that the Islamic terrorist group Hamas may attempt to infiltrate the shores of the Mediterranean and carry out an attack from the sea.
According to a report from the Hadashot Channel television station, counter-insurgent personnel will carry out security operations, patrol and maintain continuous surveillance to detect any possible terrorists coming from the sea.
The Israel Defense Forces insist that Hamas is working tirelessly to improve its capabilities to smuggle its members into Israel from the sea.

5. Haley urges Mideast nations to increase aid to UNRWA - Israel National News
Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, on Tuesday urged Middle Eastern nations to increase aid to "Palestinian refugees", The Associated Press reported.
Speaking at a conference in Washington hosted by the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, Haley said the U.S. cannot be faulted for cutting funding to UNRWA, the UN agency for "Palestinian refugees", when countries like Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait don't give more to the organization.
The Trump administration announced in January it would cut some of its funding to UNRWA, citing a need to undertake a fundamental re-examination of the organization, both in the way it operates and the way it is funded.
The organization has since received pledges of $100 million in additional funding from Qatar, Canada, Switzerland, Turkey, New Zealand, Norway, Korea, Mexico, Slovakia, India and France as a means of making up for the aid that was cut by Washington.

1. Election Primary Results - Washington Examiner
Jeff Flake is the senator Arizona voters will take the first step in replacing Tuesday. Republicans are choosing between Rep. Martha McSally, former state Sen. Kelli Ward, and former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in a three-way primary. Rep. Kyrsten Sinema is the likely Democratic nominee, though lawyer Deedra Abboud is also on the ballot. The seat is viewed as a Democratic pickup opportunity, though Republicans are confident in McSally.
Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey is the man tasked with choosing McCain's placement until a 2020 special election. But he is facing electoral challenges of his own. Former Secretary of State Ken Bennett is challenging him in the Republican primary. Former state education official David Garcia, state Sen. Steve Farley and YWCA Southern Arizona head Kelly Fryer are vying for the Democratic nomination.
In Florida, both parties are seeking potential replacements for outgoing Gov. Rick Scott. The main Republican candidates are Rep. Ron DeSantis, who has President Trump's endorsement, and state agriculture commissioner Adam Putnam. The Democrats are former Rep. Gwen Graham, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine, and businessman Jeff Greene. Gillum got a last-minute boost from liberal billionaire Tom Steyer, a crusader for the environment and Trump's impeachment.
Scott will become the Republican nominee to challenge Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson. The race is viewed as a chance for a GOP pickup. Trump helped recruit Scott to run.
Finally, Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett and Tulsa businessman Kevin Stitt are in a runoff for the Republican nomination for Oklahoma governor, seeking to replace unpopular Gov. Mary Fallin. (Read more)
- Father, we lift up our entire electoral system to You and pray for Your will to be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
- I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

2. 'America Is a Nation of Believers': Trump Honors Evangelical Leaders with White House Dinner - CBN News
Monday afternoon's celebration at the White House was nothing short of a state dinner - only President Donald Trump wasn't honoring a foreign head of state but evangelical leaders. "America is a nation of believers and tonight we are joined by faith leaders from around the country," Trump declared. Among the faith leaders being honored were Rev. Franklin Graham and Pastor Paula White.
"In recent years, the government tried to undermine religious freedom, but the attacks on communities of faith are over. We have ended it," Trump said. The commander in chief drummed up applause highlighting his administration's efforts to combat religious persecution.
Trump told the evangelical leaders it's imperative that people of faith vote in the midterms so the progress can continue. It was a sentiment that was echoed by Pastor Robert Jeffress, a staunch supporter of the president. "They are facing the possibility of a Democrat Congress that if they take control of the legislature will either impeach this president from office or at least paralyze him while he is in office, and I think they rightly know evangelical don't want either of those to happen," Pastor Jeffress said.
The Faith & Freedom Coalition's Ralph Reed weighed in, saying, "The president wanted to celebrate what our churches and houses of worship do every day - to provide spiritual direction to the lost, heal the broken-hearted, to save marriages and lives - that goes on every day in America." (Read more)

- Father, we are grateful to have a President who honors You and the people who are called by Your Name. Impress upon each of us the urgency of the time we live in and the gravity of the election before us. Help us to remain faithful in prayer and encourage others to vote.
- Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, (Hebrews 10:23-24)
3. Monday's federal court ruling may just give Democrats the House - Washington Examiner
A federal court just issued a ruling that could push Democrats over the top in their effort to retake the House of Representatives this November.
On Monday, a U.S. district court determined that the North Carolina's congressional map is unconstitutional and that it may need to be redrawn before the November midterm elections. That decision could cost Republicans as many as four or five seats, and thus tilt an evenly-divided lower chamber to the Democrats. And since this ruling could push North Carolina's congressional races off till December, control of Congress - and thus whether President Trump gets impeached - could come down handful of post-Election Day contests in the Tar Heel state.
Of course, North Carolina legislators are likely to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court, but with Justice Anthony Kennedy's retirement a tie is entirely possible, which would leave the lower court's decision in place. (Read more)
- Father, we are reminded again that there is another front in this war for the soul of our nation, our courts. We ask You for judges who judge fairly and resist the urge to confer political favor or change the electoral rules in the 11th hour.
- Yet your father has deceived me and changed my wages ten times, but God did not allow him to hurt me. (Genesis 31:7)
4. Dems launching 100 Trump ouster probes if GOP loses House? - OneNewsNow
"Congressional Republicans are getting ready for hell," Axios' Jonathan Swift warned Sunday. "[The] spreadsheet [has been] circulated through Republican circles on and off Capitol Hill - including at least one leadership office - that meticulously previews the investigations Democrats will likely launch if they flip the House."
It is reported that conservatives on Capitol Hill have outlined and studied Democrats' slated battle plans that could be implemented if Democrats get their way at the ballot box, come November. "Publicly, House Republicans are putting on a brave face about the midterms, but privately, they are scrambling to prepare for the worst," Swift contended. "This document - which catalogs requests Democrats have already made - is part of that effort. It has churned Republican stomachs."
"The spreadsheet - which I'm told originated in a senior House Republican office - catalogs more than 100 formal requests from House Democrats this Congress - spanning nearly every committee," Swift informed. "The spreadsheet includes requests for administration officials to be grilled by committee staff, requests for hearings to obtain sworn testimony, efforts to seize communications about controversial policies and personnel decisions, and subpoena threats."
"These demands would turn the Trump White House into a 24/7 legal defense operation," Swift pointed out. "The bottom line: Thanks to their control of Congress, Republicans have blocked most of the Democrats' investigative requests, but if the House flips, the GOP loses its power to stymie. Lawyers close to the White House tell me the Trump administration is nowhere near prepared for the investigatory onslaught that awaits them, and they consider it among the greatest threats to his presidency." (Read more)
- Father, these plans to mire the Trump Administration in endless investigations is a direct result of rebellion and a refusal to accept the result of the 2016 election. We pray You will not allow this rebellion to succeed or throw our nation into chaos. In Your mercy, Lord, we ask for Your Shalom Peace to cover our election and our nation.
- I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against me. Then this city will bring me renown, joy, praise and honor before all nations on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it; and they will be in awe and will tremble at the abundant prosperity and peace I provide for it.' (Jeremiah 33:8-9)
5. Trump takes on Google, alleges bias in searches - WPXI.com
President Donald Trump lashed out at U.S. tech companies Tuesday, accusing Google and others of suppressing conservative voices and "hiding information" and good news. Google, operator of the world's most popular search engine, responded by saying: "We never rank search results to manipulate political sentiment."
Trump tweeted before dawn: "This is a very serious situation-will be addressed!" Hours later, Larry Kudlow, the president's top economic adviser, said the White House is "taking a look" at whether Google searches should be subject to some government regulation. Trump tweeted that Google and others "are controlling what we can & cannot see."
In response, Google said its goal is to make sure users of its search engine get the most relevant answers to their queries quickly. Google searches aim to surface the most relevant pages in response to a user's query, even before he or she finishes typing. The answers that appear first are the ones Google's formulas, with some help from human content reviewers, deem to be the most authoritative, informative and relevant. Many factors help decide the initial results, including how much time people spend on a page, how many other pages link to it, how well it's designed and more. (Read more)
- Father, we ask You to expose the algorithms that censor conservative speech and we pray Google will commit itself to free speech in word and deed.
- A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a trustworthy envoy brings healing. (Proverbs 13:17)
6. Whistleblower Exposes Key Player in FBI Russia Probe: "It was all a Set-up" - Sara A. Carter
Adam Lovinger, a former Defense Department analyst, never expected that what he stumbled on during his final months at the Pentagon would expose an integral player in the FBI's handling of President Donald Trump's campaign and alleged Russia collusion.
Lovinger, a whistleblower, is now battling to save his career. The Pentagon suspended his top-secret security clearance May 1, 2017, when he exposed through an internal review that Stefan Halper, who was then an emeritus Cambridge professor, had received roughly $1 million in tax-payer funded money to write Defense Department foreign policy reports, his attorney Sean Bigley said.
Lovinger also raised concerns about Halper's role in conducting what appeared to be diplomatic meetings with foreigners on behalf of the U.S. government because his role as contractor forbids him from doing so, according to U.S. federal law.
An investigation by SaraACarter.com reveals that the documents and information Lovinger stumbled on and other documents obtained by this news site, raise troubling questions about Halper, who was believed to have worked with the CIA and part of the matrix of players in the bureau's 'CrossFire Hurricane' investigation into Trump's 2016 presidential campaign. (Read more)
- Father, thank You for this brave man, Mr. Lovinger. We pray You will bless him for his testimony. Help our oversight committees hold federal employees accountable for what they have done.
- A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is deceitful. (Proverbs 14:25)
7. GOP rep touches off firestorm with claim FBI leaked info, used stories to get FISA warrants - Fox News
A Republican congressman touched off a firestorm Tuesday after claiming on Twitter that his office had information suggesting the FBI leaked information to the press and used the resulting articles to help obtain surveillance warrants. "We've learned NEW information suggesting our suspicions are true: FBI/DOJ have previously leaked info to the press, and then used those same press stories as a separate source to justify FISA's," House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows, R-N.C., tweeted overnight.
The claim stemmed in part from FBI intelligence analyst Jonathan Moffa's Friday testimony behind closed doors before the House Judiciary and Oversight committees. A source with knowledge of the testimony backed up Meadows, telling Fox News that Moffa said FBI personnel would use media reports based on information they leaked to justify applications for Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants. Meadows also told Fox News' "America's Newsroom" earlier Tuesday that the committee had evidence of the FBI's practice that would be "hard to refute." (Read more)
- Father, continue to expose these circles of fraud. Break the trance of deception over our people and help them see the truth.
- And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. (2 Timothy 2:24-26)
8. Republicans find conflicts in Bruce Ohr's closed-door testimony - Washington Examiner
Justice Department official Bruce Ohr delivered closed-door testimony to House lawmakers on Tuesday that conflicted with some of the past statements they've heard from others as they investigate how the government decided to investigate President Trump's campaign, according to Republican lawmakers.
"It became very clear that there are a number of factual conflicts," Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., told reporters. "Either Bruce Ohr's lying or Glenn Simpson's lying."
Simpson is the cofounder of Fusion GPS, which put together the questionable dossier on Trump that was eventually used as a basis for surveilling former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. They also said his testimony conflicted with that of former FBI attorney Lisa Page. Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., also said there "some conflicts in terms of who met with whom at what time, based on sworn testimonies."
Republicans charge that Ohr's close contact with Fusion GPS is a sign that the Justice Department helped gin up the dossier, and then used it to go after Trump. Ohr's wife, Nellie, was contracted to work for the company that was commissioned by Hillary Clinton's campaign and the Democratic National Committee to compile the dossier. (Read more)
- Father, we pray our Congressional leaders will find the truth about the relationships between justice department and FBI officials, Fusion GPS, the DNC and Clinton campaign, and all others who sought to use ulterior methods to influence the 2016 election and Mueller investigation.
- Their malice may be concealed by deception, but their wickedness will be exposed in the assembly. (Proverbs 26:26)
9. Canada rejoins talks to stay in NAFTA, deal possible this week - Reuters
Canada's top trade negotiator joins her Mexican and U.S. counterparts in Washington on Tuesday in a bid to remain part of a revamped trilateral North American trade pact, as U.S. officials expressed optimism a deal could be reached this week. But Ottawa will be under pressure to accept new terms on auto trade and dispute settlement rules after the United States and Mexico agreed on Monday to overhaul the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
U.S. President Donald Trump warned he could proceed with a deal with Mexico alone and levy tariffs on Canada if it does not come on board with the revised trade deal. A spokesman for Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, who is due to arrive in Washington on Tuesday for the talks, said Canada would only sign a new agreement that is good for the country. Freeland rejoins the year-long talks following a hiatus of several weeks as the United States and Mexico ironed out outstanding bilateral disagreements in the renegotiation of the 24-year-old accord.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told CNBC on Tuesday that he believed the United States could also reach a trade deal with Canada this week. "The U.S. market and the Canadian markets are very intertwined," Mnuchin said. "It's important for them to get this deal and it's important for us to get this deal." Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray told Mexican television on Tuesday the three sides would work for a three-way deal. "We are now going to devote long hours to the negotiation with Canada," he said. (Read more)
- Father, we pray this agreement with Canada will happen quickly, giving further momentum to President Trump and his fair trade agenda.
- So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.' 21 His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.' (Matthew 25:20-21)
10. Puerto Rico governor raises Hurricane Maria death toll from 64 to 2,975 - Fox News
Puerto Rico's governor on Tuesday raised the official death toll from Hurricane Maria from 64 to 2,975, in response to a new study that found the initial numbers reported were undercounted. The study, an independent investigation ordered by the local government, found that nearly 3,000 people died in the hurricane, which hit the island in September 2017.
Rossello said he's forming a commission to study the response to the storm. He said a registry of vulnerable people will also be created prior to any future hurricanes. There's no national standard regarding how to calculate disaster-related deaths. While the National Hurricane Center (NHC) reports only direct deaths, such as those caused by flying debris or drowning, some local governments may include indirect deaths from such things as heart attacks and house fires.
Researchers with George Washington said they counted deaths over the span of six months - a much longer period than usual - because so many people were without power during that time. The number of dead has political implications for the Trump administration, which was accused of responding half-heartedly to the disaster. (Read more)
- Father, we lift up the people of Puerto Rico, who have experienced the most difficult year of their lives. We pray for competent leaders and investment to improve the situation and help them avoid another disaster in the future.
- A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished. (Proverbs 22:3)

What lies ahead
Yet another killer who killed others. We have a shooter in Jacksonville, FL., who killed two and wounded others. All ready the leftists and socialists are calling for more gun control and disarmament. Interesting, however, that it was a "gun free" zone where the 24 year old killer shot his victims. In Chicago a week ago, there were 61 shootings over the weekend. This, in a city and a state where gun control is among the toughest in the nation. Over and over again, it is proven that gun control fails miserably at controlling guns. The guns fall in the hands of criminals who would use them. They are not law abiding, so how could any sane person expect them to obey gun control laws? This is a people problem, not a gun problem.
A friend read me a brief story the other day about gun control. I don't know if the facts are right, but the point is well taken. It said that American citizens privately owned over 300 million firearms and more than a trillion rounds of ammunition. The tagline was that if law abiding gun owners were the problem, America would know about it. The vast majority of those who own guns are law abiding and would never want to use them to inflict harm on someone. According to the real time data of deaths in America since January 1, 2018 as reported by the Centers for Disease Control-Abortion is the leading cause of death at 713,565; Heart Disease is next at 401,441, followed by cancer at 386,642. Murder by guns is 23rdat 7,510-essentially 1% that of abortions. Drunk driving kills three times as many people as do guns.
The gun control crowd's appeasement is that they respect that the 2nd Amendment guarantees the right of citizens to own guns for hunting and sport shooting. But we know that's not the left's true position. Of the dozens of quotes by Madison, Jefferson, Adams, Lee and more, perhaps Noah Webster said it best in his 1787 "An Examination into the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution": "Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States."
In 1788, Richard Henry Lee wrote, "To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms, and be taught alike especially when young, how to use them." The Founders wanted to guarantee that any standing army would be regulated by citizen armament organized into militia. This was the only way to protect and defend personal liberty. Even Jesus believed in personal defense. He instructed his disciples to purchase the common weapon of his time--the sword: "And he that has no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one (Luke 22:36)." The leftist cries to undermine the right to protect and defend oneself and one's family against the opponents of liberty--whether they be thieves or governments or both-are rooted in tyranny rather than empathy.

Take Your Schools Through Prayer!

"Prayer is Our Greatest Weapon against Evil. This is Not the Time for Passivity!":
Church Leads Movement to Prayer-Walk Local Schools
National Day of Prayer President Ronnie Floyd has started prayer walking around his local schools. In this Q&A, Floyd shares his heart behind this spiritual warfare initiative.
What made you start prayer walking at local schools?
One of our callings as a church is to pray for our local community. We've been doing this for years. We want broken families to be restored, relationships to be healed and walls of hostility and division to be torn down. More than anything, we want or community to know Jesus. The start of a new school year is another opportunity for us to engage our community in prayer. We all remember vividly the recent tragic school shootings our nation has been through. Many students-and their parents-are heading to school wondering if they'll be safe in their classrooms. As a church, we want to cover our local schools from the very beginning of the year with prayers of protection for our students, our teachers and our emergency responders.
Why prayer?
I've said this before: prayer is not inaction; it is our greatest action. As Christians, we must recognize prayer as an integral part of our faith. We cannot wait until tragedy strikes for us to then decide to pray. We are living in a time when our schools, churches and public places of gathering are increasingly becoming the targets of people who wish to do us evil. This is not the time for passivity! Moreover, Scripture tells us that our struggle is not against physical enemies but against spiritual forces of evil (Eph. 6:12). This is key. When we pray, we are not simply asking God to protect us from violent attacks-we are actually battling the evil forces behind these attacks. Prayer is our greatest weapon against evil.
What are you praying for?
First and foremost, we are praying for the security of our students. We are asking God to protect them from harm and evil. We also pray for the teachers, principals and school administrators that they may have wisdom and be able to set the right security protocols to prevent as much as possible tragedy from occurring. And we pray for our local law enforcement and first responders, that they may be alert against potential threats and that God may place them at the right place and time to stop them.
Who is praying?
This is a church-led initiative, with parents and students leading charge, but other church members are also involved. Everyone is praying for his or her specific school. So, we are covering the school district in prayer.

BREAKING:
Putin orders biggest war games in nearly four decades in September
"Russia will next month hold its biggest war games in nearly four decades," Reuters is reporting.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu was quoted by Russian news agencies on Tuesday as describing the scope of the war games, which will take place from September 11 through 15.
"The exercise -- called Vostok-2018 (East-2018) -- will take place in central and eastern Russian military districts and involve almost 300,000 troops, over 1,000 military aircraft, two of Russia's naval fleets, and all its airborne units, agencies quoted Shoigu as saying. It will be the biggest military exercise since 1981."
BBC News is reporting that "Russia has intensified its military training amid tension with Nato. Russia's military intervention in Ukraine in 2014 triggered Western sanctions and a heightened Nato presence near Russian borders.
Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty notes, "The September 2017 war games in Belarus and parts of western Russia, dubbed Zapad 2017, triggered concerns in neighboring NATO nations already wary of Moscow's intentions after its illegal annexation of Crimea in March 2014 and military interference in eastern Ukraine, where fighting between Russia-backed separatists and Ukrainian government forces has killed more than 10,300 people since April 2014."

Hurricane Lane drenched parts of Hawaii with 3-4 feet of rainfall, with one weather station tallying the third-highest "total rainfall from a tropical cyclone in the United States since 1950," the National Weather Service says. The slow-moving storm caused floods and landslides as it moved west of the islands, back out over the Pacific Ocean.
Lane diminished as it neared Hawaii, but it still brought torrential rains as it lingered to the south and west of the islands. At one point over the weekend, the entire state was placed under a flash flood watch, Hawaii Public Radio reported.
"Significant flash flooding" hit multiple areas across the northeast and east-facing slopes of the Big Island, according to the National Weather Service. The agency reported water rescues in Hilo and the town of Keaau. And complicating matters further, several highways were closed by either landslides or floodwaters.
. . . The next storm of the eastern Pacific season is already on its way to becoming a hurricane. Tropical Storm Miriam will likely attain hurricane status by Monday night or Tuesday morning, the Central Pacific Hurricane Center says.
There are no coastal warnings for Miriam, which is currently projected to veer north and weaken hundreds of miles east of Hawaii. (NPR) Read more.

Why President Trump, and First Lady Melania Are Hosting a Huge White House Dinner for Evangelicals Tonight
[Editor's note: This event took place on Monday night at the White House.]
They want to honor the contributions evangelicals have made to American life.
Many senior administration advisors will be in attendance along with more than one-third of Cabinet members. Members of the White House's faith advisory group will be there, including Pastor Robert Jeffress who appeared on CBN's Faith Nation to talk about the event.
"This was actually the President and First Lady's idea to have a dinner to celebrate evangelical leadership," Jeffress said. "The White House is very aware that evangelicals have been some of the staunchest supporters of the President. He won by the largest evangelical vote in history. He still has a 77 percent approval rating and I think they're genuinely appreciative of that."
Jeffress also released an early statement to CBN's David Brody saying, "Looking forward to celebrating with President Trump and the First Lady his unprecedented accomplishments in less than two years."
"President Trump is the most pro-life, pro-religious liberty, and pro-conservative judiciary president in history which is why evangelicals continue to support him enthusiastically," Jeffress continued.
It's a devotion that won't likely change any time soon.
"I would say the thing that would cause me to change would be, for example, if he [Trump] suddenly became pro-choice, if he started to say, 'Well, you know what? We've had enough conservative justices at the federal courts and on the Supreme Court. We need somebody more moderate.' Those things I think would cause evangelicals to turn away," Jeffress said on Faith Nation, adding that he "didn't see either one of those things happening."
"He's very smart. He knows he's got to have his evangelical base behind him and I think he's going to continue to support those policies that put him into office," he predicted.
Jeffress also mentioned the upcoming midterm elections and the administration's need to get evangelicals to the polls.
"They're facing the possibility of a Democrat Congress that if they take control of the legislature are going to either impeach this President from office or at least paralyze him while he's in office," Jeffress said.
"I'm sure tonight will be a great motivation for evangelical leaders and their constituents to turn out in mass for the midterms," he concluded. (Breaking Christian News) Read more here.

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners
Our Mission Statement
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].
Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
