Sen. McCain's Farewell Statement

'Fellow Americans' - that association has meant more to me than any other. I lived and died a proud American. We are citizens of the world's greatest republic, a nation of ideals, not blood and soil. We are blessed and are a blessing to humanity when we uphold and advance those ideals at home and in the world. We have helped liberate more people from tyranny and poverty than ever before in history. We have acquired great wealth and power in the process.
We weaken our greatness when we confuse our patriotism with tribal rivalries that have sown resentment and hatred and violence in all the corners of the globe. We weaken it when we hide behind walls, rather than tear them down, when we doubt the power of our ideals, rather than trust them to be the great force for change they have always been.
We are three-hundred-and-twenty-five million opinionated, vociferous individuals. We argue and compete and sometimes even vilify each other in our raucous public debates. But we have always had so much more in common with each other than in disagreement. If only we remember that and give each other the benefit of the presumption that we all love our country we will get through these challenging times. We will come through them stronger than before. We always do.
Ten years ago, I had the privilege to concede defeat in the election for president. I want to end my farewell to you with the heartfelt faith in Americans that I felt so powerfully that evening.
I feel it powerfully still.
Do not despair of our present difficulties but believe always in the promise and greatness of America, because nothing is inevitable here. Americans never quit. We never surrender. We never hide from history. We make history.
Farewell, fellow Americans. God bless you, and God bless America."
Services for McCain set for Phoenix, Washington, Annapolis - One News Now
. . . Plans taking shape called for McCain to lie in state Wednesday in the Arizona State Capitol on what would have been his 82nd birthday. A funeral will be conducted Thursday at North Phoenix Baptist Church with former Vice President Joe Biden speaking.
In Washington, McCain will lie in state Friday in the Capitol Rotunda with a formal ceremony and time for the public to pay respects. On Saturday, a procession will pass the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and arrive for a funeral at Washington National Cathedral. Former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama are expected to speak at the service.
A private funeral is planned for Sunday afternoon at the Naval Academy Chapel followed by a private burial at the academy cemetery. As he wished, McCain will be buried next to a Naval Academy classmate and lifelong friend, Chuck Larson. (Read more)

1. IDF Acquiring New Rockets To Hit All Targets With Unprecedented Precision - Jerusalem Post
The Defense Ministry has signed a deal with Israel Military Industries (IMI) to develop and acquire advanced precision short- and long-range rockets for the IDF, capable of hitting "anywhere in the Middle East."
The precision firepower will significantly improve the IDF's capabilities to accurately hit targets from a distance at a low cost relative to other combat systems, according to the ministry.
The acquisition of the new rockets, in a deal worth hundreds of millions of shekels, follows a decision by Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman to equip the IDF with precision rockets for all distance ranges.
"We are purchasing and developing high-precision systems that bolster the IDF's offense capabilities," Liberman said on Monday. He added that some of the systems are already in production and others are nearing the end of the research and development stage.

2. Netanyahu sees path to Palestinian peace through ties with Arab states - Times of Israel
VILNIUS, Lithuania - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday says he sees a path to peace with Palestinians through the "normalization" of relations with Arab states which, like Israel, are also facing an emboldened Iran.
"Many Arab countries now see Israel not as their enemy but as their indispensable ally in pushing back Iranian aggression," Netanyahu said in an interview with Lithuania's LRT public broadcaster which aired on Monday.
"This has created normalisation which can lead to peace. I believe that if we have peace with the broader Arab world, it will help us get to peace with the Palestinians," he added in the interview taped during his visit to the Baltic state - the first-ever by an Israeli premier - that ended on Sunday.
Both Israel and Saudi Arabia have opposed the Iran nuclear deal and pushed for tougher action against Iran's spreading influence in the Middle East.

3. Hamas: We will continue to build our capabilities - Israel National News
Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan said on Monday evening that even if a ceasefire is achieved with Israel, the terrorist organization will continue to "build its capabilities because it has no faith in the Zionist enemy."
His remarks were quoted in various Palestinian Arab news agencies and translated by Channel 10 News.
"The ceasefire arrangement does not include the construction of a seaport or an airport outside the Palestinian territories - everything published so far on this matter is a lie," declared Hamdan.
He further claimed that "the Zionist enemy has reached the conclusion that the Palestinian resistance cannot be eliminated and Israel will see that it made a grave mistake if the truce with Hamas fails. If a ceasefire is achieved, then we will not delay in working on the lifting of the siege and the lifting of the sanctions on the Gaza Strip."

4. Israel's natural water reserves lowest in a century- World Israel News
Israel's natural water reserves are at a deficit of 2.5 billion cubic metres - the largest in 100 years, Israel's Water Authority said Sunday.
The extreme deficit is down to the drought which has been plaguing Israel for the past five years, with some of the country's streams and rivers on the brink of reaching historically low levels of waterflow.
While the forecasts for precipitation may predict a slight amelioration in the drought, the Water Authority said that even a year of average rainfall will leave the water level of the Sea of Galilee (Lake Kinneret) beneath the "lower red line" - the absolute lowest water level which allows for pumping water from the lake. According to the Water Authority, the 160 square kilometer lake's level is dropping by as much as a centimeter a day.

5. Iran and Syria Seal Military Cooperation Agreement - HAARETZ
Iran and Syria signed a deal for military cooperation in a meeting between the defence ministers of the two countries in Damascus, the Tasnim news agency reported on Monday.
Iranian Defense Minister Amir Hatami travelled to Damascus on Sunday for a two-day visit, meeting Syrian President Bashar Assad and senior military officials, Tasnim reported.
Hatami, on a two-day visit to Syria, told the Beirut-based al-Mayadeen TV station that the agreement also stipulates helping rebuild Syria's military industry.

1. Alliance of Virtue: Common good - or grand deception?- One News Now
The Alliance of Virtue for Common Good (AoV) is considered by Islamic scholars to be a 1,400-year old Muslim-led initiative, which they believe began in 622 with the transcription of Prophet Mohammad's Constitution of Medina, also known as the Medina Charter. According to these scholars, the Constitution of Medina was not only the first constitution in human history, but also serves as the true foundation that all subsequent constitutions are built upon - including the U.S. Constitution.
Citing such Arab Muslim historians as Ibn Ishaq, the Medina Charter declares that "the Messenger of God [Mohammad] wrote a document between the Emigrants [the original followers of Mohammed] and the Ansar [the first supporters of Mohammed in Medina], and in it he made a treaty and covenant with the Jews, establishing them in their religion and possessions, and assigning to them rights and duties."
As we discuss the sequence of historical events leading to today's AoV movement, one must understand that it was initiated exclusively by the Muslim community, and that it is solely based on Islamic tradition. The AoV movement is not defined by biblical values, but on the values and teachings derived from the Quran and Hadith of Islam. (Read more)
- Lord, we ask that You not allow Your people to be turned aside to lies. We bind up the works of the enemy, and declare Your truth over all of Your people. Let them see clearly , and let their eyes be opened against deception.

2. Mark Levin: 'Donald Trump Is in the Clear' --- 'Lanny Davis Blew It,' 'You Are a Dummy, Lanny' - Breitbart
Tuesday on Fox News Channel's "Hannity," conservative talker and legal expert Mark Levin criticized the plea deal Michael Cohen made with the prosecutor for the Southern District of New York regarding campaign finance law violations.
Levin argued Cohen pled guilty to the charge despite them not being offenses and at the behest of the prosecutor who insisted they were offenses.
HANNITY: All right, Mark, I mean, there are some lessons here. I agree that you shouldn't lie to the FBI. Everyone agrees with that. I also agree that you should pay your taxes. I also agree that you better not lie on a bank loan application. Mark, how did we get from Russia and that this is it after nearly, we are almost at 500 days.
LEVIN: All right. I want to address Michael Cohen. How did we get to that? I want to help the law professors, the constitutional experts, the criminal defense lawyers, the former prosecutors and of course, the professors. I want to help them understand what the law is.
The general counsel for the Clinton mob family, Lanny Davis, he had his client pleaded two counts of criminality that don't exist. These campaign finance violations that is all over TV, they are saying implicates the president of the United States directly.
First, let's back up. It is a guilty plea. It is a plea bargain between a prosecutor and a criminal. A criminal who doesn't want to spend the rest of his life in prison. That is not precedent. That applies only to that specific case. Nobody cites plea bargains for precedent. That's number one.
Number two, just because a prosecutor says that somebody violated a campaign law doesn't make it so. He is not the judge. He is not the jury. We didn't adjudicate anything. It never went to court. That's number two. (Read more)
- Lord, thank You for Mr. Levin's confidence. We ask that You protect our president even more deeply as the days go by, revealing the lies of his enemies and showing the truth.
- "For evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the earth." (Psalm 37:9)
3. Dow Jumps as U.S.-Mexico Reach Tentative Trade Deal, Nasdaq Trades Above 8,000 -The Street
Stocks rose on Monday Aug. 27, after the U.S. and Mexico reached a tentative trade deal.
The agreement would replace NAFTA, the trade pact between the U.S., Mexico and Canada. The deal will be called the United States-Mexico Trade agreement, according to Donald Trump.
Stocks had been rising throughout Monday's session following trading on Friday, Aug. 24, that saw both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq close at all-time highs after Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said in a speech that the U.S. economy was strong and that "further gradual increases" in interest rates was "appropriate" if "strong growth in income and jobs continues."
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 270 points, or 1.05%, to 26,061, and the S&P 500 was up 0.82%, establishing a new intraday record high. The Nasdaq gained 0.96%, traded above the 8,000 milestone and also hit an intraday high. (Read more)
- Lord, we rejoice in this news and praise You for making a new deal that is better than the old one. We thank You for the news that it may benefit the automobile industry as well as others across the trade spectrum.

4. Big Brother: Facebook Is Implementing Chinese-Like Social Media Trustworthiness Rating - Daily Caller
Facebook is rating its users on a scale from zero to one to predict if they're "trustworthy" - a system similar to one China is using on its citizens. The numbers are not meant to be absolute, however, the social media giant will not tell its users their score, The Washington Post reported Tuesday. The score aims to be one measurement among thousands of other unknown behavioral clues that tell Facebook how trustworthy users are when they interact with posts.
This credibility score is a response to users gaming Facebook's system that allowed users to report whether something is credible or problematic. As Facebook rolled out these tools, users began abusing them. "For example, if someone previously gave us feedback that an article was false and the article was confirmed false by a fact-checker, then we might weight that person's future false news feedback more than someone who indiscriminately provides false news feedback on lots of articles, including ones that end up being rated as true," Facebook's Tessa Lyons, who is in charge of fighting misinformation on the platform, told The Washington Post.
Facebook cofounder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced in a Facebook post on Jan. 19 that the platform would implement the new rating system for the credibility of news articles, which users on Facebook rate themselves. Lyons said this system was abused, adding that it's "not uncommon for people to tell us something is false simply because they disagree with the premise of a story or they're intentionally trying to target a particular publisher."
China, run by the Communist Party, is set to implement a similar rating system for its citizens in 2020 - giving them a "social credit score" to identify who is trustworthy based off social media posts and purchase history, The Daily Caller reported in 2017. (Read more)
- Lord, we pray that You will touch the heart of Mark Zuckerberg. We ask for a move of Your Holy Spirit through every Facebook employee, contractor, administrator, and patron. We pray that their "fact-checkers" would have integrity rather than arbitrarily calling everything Conservatives have into question.
- "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." (Ezekiel 37:26)
5. Chinese Communist Party Funds Washington Think Tanks - Free Beacon
China's Communist Party is intensifying covert influence operations in the United States that include funding Washington think tanks and coercing Chinese Americans, according to a congressional commission report. The influence operations are conducted by the United Front Work Department, a Central Committee organ that employs tens of thousands of operatives who seek to use both overt and covert operations to promote Communist Party policies.
The Party's United Front strategy includes paying several Washington think tanks with the goal influencing their actions and adopting positions that support Beijing's policies. "The [Chinese Communist Party] has sought to influence academic discourse on China and in certain instances has infringed upon-and potentially criminally violated-rights to freedoms of speech and association that are guaranteed to Americans and those protected by U.S. laws," the report says. "Despite the CCP's candid discussion of its United Front strategy, the breadth and depth of this issue remain relatively unknown to U.S. policymakers."
In addition to Johns Hopkins, other think tanks linked to China and influential in American policy circles include the Brookings Institution, Atlantic Council, Center for American Progress, EastWest Institute, Carter Center, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. The Exchange Foundation is tied to Chinese government influence operations and uses the same public relations firm as the Chinese embassy. (Read more)
- Lord, we praise You that truth is being exposed with regard to the infiltration of Communist influence. We ask that You put a halt to these nefarious plans, and not allow them to continue their plan of destruction.
- "Therefore do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed and hidden that will not be known." (Matthew 10:26)
6. U.S. judge rejects Trump directives easing ability to fire federal workers - Reuters
A U.S. federal judge on Saturday rejected key elements of President Donald Trump's May executive orders that would make it easier to fire federal employees and reduce their ability to bargain collectively.
Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, said in a court order that Trump's orders, which also would reduce the amount of time low-performing employees had to improve their performance before being fired, "undermine federal employees' right to bargain collectively."
Trump signed three executive orders in May that administration officials said would give government agencies greater ability to remove employees with "poor" performance, obtain "better deals" in union contracts and require federal employees with union responsibilities to spend less time on union work. (Read more)
- Lord, these judges are ruling against Trump at every turn, not because of truth, but because of resistance. We pray that this ruling will be reversed so that unproductive employees can be removed especially in places like the Veterans Administration.

7. Socialist NY Senate candidate challenged over claims of being an immigrant, Jewish - Fox News
A Democratic Socialist candidate for New York Senate faces questions after reports emerged that she falsified her biography, including claims about being an immigrant and Jewish, while her previous work shows she was a Christian conservative advocate.
Julia Salazar, a progressive Democrat affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America, has been touted as the next Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a young and hip socialist who would move the party further to the left. She also received an endorsement from the New York governor candidate Cynthia Nixon.
But Salazar came under fire last week after an expose in Tablet magazine, which examined Salazar's claims about her biography.
The candidate for state office previously told multiple outlets that she's an immigrant from Colombia and noted that her family immigrated to the U.S. when she was young. Her father, she said, was Jewish but the family had little contact with the American Jewish community after they arrived to the country. (Read more)

8. Iran's Strait of Hormuz control stokes tensions, could prompt US response - Fox News
A major shipping route located between Oman and Iran where nearly one-third of the world's sea-traded oil passes through daily may become a new flashpoint after a top Iranian Navy general said Monday that the country has taken full control of the Strait of Hormuz. The head of the navy of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, Gen. Alireza Tangsiri, said that Iran had full control of both the Persian Gulf itself and the Strait of Hormuz that leads into it, Reuters reported.
The strait, which at its narrowest point is 21 miles wide, has shipping lanes that are 2 miles wide in each direction and is the only sea passage from many of the world's largest oil producers to the Indian Ocean. (Read more)
- Father, we ask that You protect this shipping lane. We pray that cool heads will prevail over the situation, and a perfect resolution be found.

9. Scott Morrison Is a New Kind of Australian Prime Minister: An Evangelical Christian - NYT
At a regular Sunday morning service, before the praise songs and a sermon on resilience, a pastor at one of Sydney's largest Pentecostal churches mentioned a congregant who was usually among those worshiping there.
Church had always been a part of his life and for the past decade, his spiritual home has been this bustling sanctuary with a cross formed from bright lights. But he was not with them this past Sunday. On Friday, he became Australia's newest prime minister.
"I'm incredibly hopeful - hopeful for the future of our generation," said Alison Bonhomme, a senior pastor at Horizon Church, reflecting on the political tumult that led Scott Morrison to become the country's leader. A burst of applause followed.
Mr. Morrison and his faith represent a break with tradition in Australia, where politics has long been ardently secular. He is the first prime minister to come from one of the country's growing evangelical Christian movements, leading many experts and voters to wonder how his Christianity might affect various issues, from foreign policy to social policy. (Read more)
- Father, we ask Your power and protection over Mr. Morrison at a time when hostility toward You appears to be growing. Bring Your favor and life to Australia as he serves You in this capacity.

10. Court Ruling Guts Key Law, Child Pornography Now More Likely to Be Produced, Scholar Says - Christian Post
A federal court ruling earlier this month scrapped important regulations on the pornography industry, a move anti-porn advocates say will likely increase the production and distribution child porn.
Gail Dines, author of Pornland: How Pornography Has Hijacked Our Sexuality, together with University of Massachusetts-Boston professor David L. Levy, explained in a Thursday essay in The Conversation that an August 3 court decision effectively dismantled U.S. Code Title 18 Section 2257. This section required producers of pornography to maintain strict records regarding the ages of the porn actors in their films and to allow government inspectors to review those records at any time.
Although producing and distributing child porn is still against the law, without record keeping requirements the statute is essentially powerless, Dines and Levy argued, as such requirements are "the only way to verify and track performers' ages and serves as a major incentive for businesses across the complex supply chain to monitor content."
The recent ruling thus allows porn producers to use an age verification form produced by the Free Speech Coalition, the lobbying arm of the adult film industry which lauded the court's decision. It is unclear whether the Department of Justice will appeal the ruling and if they do not it will stand.
Dines and Levy believe Section 2257 is now in serious jeopardy, based on conversations they have had with legal experts. (Read more)
- Lord, we ask that You bring about a spirit of repentance over this "industry" - we call forth righteousness and truth to disarm the power of the enemy.
- ". . . and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness." (Ephesians 4:19)

What lies ahead
Over the weekend, Azios' Jonathan Swan gave Americans a peek into the Democratic Party's playbook if they are able to take control of the House of Representatives in November. He wrote of a spreadsheet originating in a senior House Republican office detailing over 100 formal requests from House Democrats for hearings, investigations, subpoenas, and sworn testimonies from the Trump White House. Because House Republicans have used their committee chairmanships to block most of these investigative requests, Swan predicts that the Trump White House would become little more than a "24/7 legal defense operation." This is all part of the coup-makers plan to undermine and obstruct the presidency.
This is, quite frankly, nothing new. The media has pounded away at this president since before he took office, working hand in hand with coup-makers in the FBI, the Democratic Party, and big technology companies. PJ Media's Paula Bolyard, after conducting an in-depth investigation, reports, for example, that Google's algorithms are 96% biased in favor of showing liberal news outlets when searching for news about President Trump. She concludes: "With all the talk and hand-wringing about fake news and bad foreign actors using social media outlets to attempt to manipulate election results, far too little attention has been paid to power brokers like Google, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube and their ability--and perhaps even desire--to manipulate public opinion and shape the world into their own Silicon Valley image."
These are the houses of lies that shape what lies ahead for our nation. Truth has fallen in the street and deception is in the air we breathe. Can you see what is happening to free speech and, with it, freedom of religion, in this country? The more lies that are told, the more they are perceived as truth. The burden of truth can only come from the origin of truth. Truth is needed to resist this juggernaut of a takeover of America and a destruction of our Republic. Aside from being a good citizen of the original American Revolution, you must be above all a good citizen of the Kingdom of God. We must convey the gift of hope and salvation. Boldly speak truth in love. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. What more?
2 Corinthians 4:8-11 says, "We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken, cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body." Verse 6 says, "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." I also love 1 Peter 2:9, "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." May we be such.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Victory! Chaplain Cleared of Wrong-Doing in Same-Sex Marriage Case
The Army has exonerated a decorated Fort Bragg Army chaplain and his assistant after they were accused of discrimination against a same-sex couple.
Chaplain Scott Squires and Chaplain Assistant Kacie Griffin had been facing "dereliction of duty" charges for declining to lead a marriage retreat that included a same-sex couple.
"We are grateful that the Army has rejected and abandoned these baseless charges," First Liberty Institute attorney Mike Berry told the Todd Starnes Radio Show.
"The United States military is no place for anti-religious hostility against its own military chaplains," said Berry, who is representing both the chaplain and the assistant. "Chaplains like Scott Squires and Kacie Griffin do not have to give up their First Amendment rights in order to serve their fellow soldiers."
Chaplain Squires, in a statement, said he looks forward to resuming his military career and serving his fellow soldiers. "I am eternally grateful to First Liberty for covering my six and fighting to restore my religious liberty," he said.
The plight of Chaplain Squires generated national outrage and thousands of my readers and listeners inundated the Pentagon with telephone calls and emails. And several members of Congress urged the military to take swift action.
"The case of Chaplain Scott Squires highlights how imperative it is that we protect freedom of conscience for every individual in the U.S. military - including the chaplains who minister to them as they carry out the military's mission together," Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) wrote in a prepared statement.

NASA asteroid WARNING:
Asteroid bigger than Pyramids to skim Earth This Week
The barreling Asteroid 2016 NF23 will skim past the planet Earth shortly after 1am UK time on Wednesday, August 29. The monstrous space rock is flying towards the planet at a breakneck speed of more than 20,000mph or nine kilometres per second. At this incredible speed, Asteroid NF23 moves faster than the long-retired Concord aircraft which reached cruise speeds of 1,354 mph (2,179 km/h).
The US space agency said the asteroid measures 230ft (70m) to 524ft (160m) in diameter. Asteroid NF23 is both larger than the 456ft tall (139m) Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt and the 364ft tall (110m) St Paul's Cathedral in London. Because of its formidable size, the asteroid is listed on NASA's list of so-called "Potentially Hazardous Asteroids". (Express UK) Read more.

School Drops Pledge of Allegiance for Oath to "Global Society":
Parents Fight Back and WIN!
(Atlanta, GA)-[EAGnews.org] Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School Principal Lara Zelski decided students will no longer recite the Pledge of Allegiance during the school's morning meeting agenda, which she described to parents as "an effort to begin our day as a fully inclusive and connected community."
"Over the past couple of years, it has become increasingly obvious that more and more of our community were choosing to not stand and/or recite the pledge," she wrote, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
The statement, posted to the school website, promised parents students could recite the Pledge of Allegiance later in the day, if they felt like it, and vowed to create better pledge specifically for the school.
"Teachers and the K-5 leadership team will be working with students to create a school pledge that we can say together at morning meeting," Zelski wrote, adding that it "will focus on students' civic responsibility to their school family, community, country and our global society."
"I'm really looking forward to what our students create," she wrote, according to The Blaze.
The move infuriated parents and quickly gained the attention of Georgia House Speaker David Ralston, gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp, and others who denounced the decision.
"I'm sure our House Education Committee will examine whether taxpayer funds should be used to instill such a divisive ideology in our students," Ralston posted online, the AJC reports.
In less than a day, school officials reversed course.
