Focus on Judge Kavanaugh

Focus on Judge Kavanaugh:

President Trump Nominates Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States

- Father God, we thank You for the balance of power our Founders so wisely established in our Constitution. We bring this nominee before Your Throne of Grace today, asking only that Your perfect will be done now on earth, as it is in Heaven. If Brett Kavanaugh is the man of Your choosing to serve as the next Justice on the Supreme Court of the United States, we ask for swift confirmation in the Senate. But Father God, if Brett Kavanaugh is not the man of Your choosing, we ask that his nomination be blocked. In Your Name, amen.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)

1. The President's Nominee for the United States Supreme Court: Brett M. Kavanaugh - WhiteHouse.gov

"What matters is not a judge's political views, but whether they can set aside those views to do what the law and the Constitution require. I am pleased to say that I have found, without doubt, such a person." Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America.

Brett Kavanaugh has served for over a decade as a federal judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit-referred to as the "Second Highest Court in the Land"-building a first-rate judicial record and reputation. Judge Kavanaugh is a brilliant jurist with impeccable legal credentials and a clear, effective writing style. He is universally respected for his intellect, persuasiveness, and ability to build consensus. He understands that the role of a judge is to faithfully interpret the law, not to legislate from the bench. His authoritative legal opinions are known to shape the law and are often cited by judges around the country.

Alongside his long career of public service, he is a youth basketball coach, a church volunteer, a family man, and a mentor in local schools. His mother, Maryland Circuit Court Judge Martha Kavanaugh, blazed a trail for women in the legal profession. He and his wife Ashley have two school-aged children. (Read more)

2. What These Christian Leaders are Saying about the President's Nomination of Brett Kavanaugh for Supreme Court - Breaking Christian News

Faith leaders across the country praised President Donald Trump's nomination Mondaynight of Judge Brett Kavanaugh as the next justice to the United States Supreme Court.

On Facebook, Franklin Graham lauded Trump for "keeping" his word to nominate a conservative justice to the high court. "He promised the American people that if he had the opportunity, he would nominate conservative justices to the U.S. Supreme Court, and he's done just that," Graham said. "CNN said it was the "Supreme Court pick for the ages." Congratulations to Judge Brett Kavanaugh on this monumentally important nomination!

"Those on the progressive, socialist left are, of course, already enraged. Another conservative justice threatens their agendas and the direction they were trying to push this country. They are rallying their forces and had begun protesting even before the announcement was made! We need to thank God for this long-awaited opportunity to change the makeup of the U.S. Supreme Court. And, we need to be faithful to pray for Judge Kavanaugh and his family during the very intense confirmation process."

Rev. Dr. Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Leadership Conference, said this in an issued statement: "I join millions of Americans in congratulating Judge Brett Kavanaugh on his nomination to the Supreme Court, a well-respected jurist widely regarded for his intellect, temperament, as well as for his dedication to the Constitution. While certainly conservative, Judge Kavanaugh is well within the mainstream of American legal thought and theory.

"As our duly elected president, the selection of Justice Kennedy's replacement is President Trump's decision, and his alone, as mandated by the Constitution. I therefore urge the Senate to not unnecessarily delay or obstruct, but as polling demonstrates the majority of Americans want, to move ahead with a timely and honest confirmation process. I pray for our country in this process, that instead of yet another vitriolic and divisive political battle, the confirmation process would instead be a reaffirmation of the strength of our democracy and its institutions."

Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel for American Center for Law & Justice: "The nomination of Judge Kavanaugh to fill the vacancy created with the retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy is a superb choice who is certain to serve this nation well. Judge Kavanaugh is a brilliant jurist who embraces the philosophy of our founders-an unwavering commitment to the rule of law and the Constitution."

Tony Perkins, President, Family Research Council: "Judge Kavanaugh has a long and praiseworthy history of judging as an originalist, and we look forward to having a justice with his philosophical approach on the Court."

3. Trump makes a shrewd political move with Supreme Court pick - NY Post

By picking Brett Kavanaugh as his Supreme Court nominee, President Trump showed that credentials and connections still matter - when backed up by results. One of the most scholarly members of the judiciary, Kavanaugh's more than 300 opinions are read widely and influence courts across the country - including the one that he now hopes to join. There are few if any more respected lower-court judges.

More important than his erudition is Kavanaugh's intense commitment to constitutional structure. As Anthony Kennedy, the justice he clerked for and now seeks to succeed, often emphasized, this is vital not simply to the functioning of our government, but to securing our freedom. In a speech at Notre Dame he advocated that judges look for the best reading of a text, rather than hunt for ambiguities. That's one of the best indications yet that a Justice Kavanaugh would leave "fixing" statutes to legislators rather than having judges do so, or even worse, regulators.

Kavanaugh has had a long involvement with the Federalist Society - which signals a commitment to ideas rather than mere careerism or partisan loyalty - and has been endorsed by plenty of conservatives who don't shy away from calling out judicial "squishes." In short, the Kavanaugh selection seems likely to secure the bulwarks restraining the expansion of government against the onslaught of the swamp. In this regard, Trump has made a selection that should be praised - bigly. (Read more)

4. Two Female GOP Senators Who Seemed Hostile To Barrett Hint They're Okay With Kavanaugh - Daily Wire

The two woman GOP senators who had seemed recalcitrant about supporting President Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court are hinting they will be fine supporting Trump's actual nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh. According to Politico, Lisa Murkowski (R-AL) and Susan Collins (R-ME) were far less confrontational after Trump's announcement Monday night than they had been with the possibility of Judge Amy Coney Barrett joining the Court.

Murkowski allowed, "Let's put it this way: There were some who have been on the list that I would have had a very, very difficult time supporting, just based on what was already publicly known about them. We're not dealing with that."

Collins said she wouldn't compare Kavanaugh to Barrett, then added, "It will be very difficult for anyone to argue that he's not qualified for the job. He clearly is qualified for the job. But there are other issues involving judicial temperament and his political or rather his judicial philosophy that also will play into my decision." Both senators voted for Kavanaugh's nomination to the D.C. Circuit Court in 2006. (Read more)

5. Schumer: Dems won't boycott Kavanaugh hearings, votes - Washington Times

Top Democratic Sen. Charles E. Schumer shot down suggestions Tuesday that his party would boycott committee meetings or Senate floor action to try to derail President Trump's Supreme Court pick. Liberal activists have demanded Mr. Schumer use every tool at his disposal to try to thwart the elevation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the high court, including parliamentary delays. Mr. Schumer, though, said there aren't a lot of good tools left to the minority party to delay action now that both parties have curtailed the filibuster, and he said boycotting the committee or floor would just leave Republicans more space to get their way.

He said Democrats are confident they can defeat Judge Kavanaugh on substantive issues by arguing to Americans that abortion rights will be more limited and the remaining parts of Obamacare could be struck down should the high court tilt to the right. "If we can convince the American people that Judge Kavanaugh on the court would lead to the repeal of the Affordable Care Act and protections of people with preexisting conditions and repeal women's reproductive rights, then we will get a majority in the Senate to vote him down," Mr. Schumer said. (Read more)

1. Liberman: Pro-Iranian forces setting up 'terror infrastructure' in Syrian Golan - Times of Israel

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman on Tuesday said Israel has detected efforts by Iran-backed terror groups to establish infrastructure in southwestern Syria, under the cover of dictator Bashar Assad's renewed offensive against two rebel-held provinces in the area.

"We are seeing efforts by figures associated with the [Iran-led] axis, with permission from the regime, to establish terrorist infrastructure here in the Syrian Golan Heights," Liberman said during a tour of the border with Syria.

"In our view, this is unacceptable, and we will act forcefully against all terrorist infrastructure that we see and identify in the area," he said.

2. Liberman vows 'strong response' if Syrian military enters Golan DMZ - Times of Israel

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman threatened Syria Monday with a "strong response" should it violate a delicate decades-old ceasefire agreement on the Golan Heights as it looks to reclaim pockets of rebel-held territory.

Pro-regime Syrian forces have advanced toward the Israeli border in recent weeks, and Israel has called for the 1974 separation of forces agreement between Israel and Syria to be upheld and the demilitarized buffer zone on the border respected.

"We'll respect the disengagement agreement from '74 and insist on every tiny detail," said Liberman at the start of his Yisrael Beytenu party's weekly faction meeting. "Any violations will be met with a harsh response from the State of Israel."

3. Iranian general: Forces 'awaiting orders' to destroy Israel - WND

Islamic army in Syria' poised to eradicate 'evil Zionist regime'

As Iran faces ongoing protests from a growing movement aiming to bring down the mullah-led regime, its top general is threatening to send an "Islamic army" across the border into Israel from Syria to wipe out the "evil Zionist regime."

Hossein Salami, the deputy commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, said there are forces in Lebanon as well as Syria awaiting orders while the Tehran-backed Hezbollah terror group aims 100,000 missiles at Israel, the Times of Israel reported.

"We are creating might in Lebanon because we want to fight our enemy from there with all our strength," he stated. "Hezbollah today has tremendous might on the ground that can on its own break the Zionist regime. The Zionist regime has no strategic-defensive depth."

4. First Cabinet Member Enters Temple Mount After 3 Years as PM Lifts Ban - JOL

An Israeli minister on Sunday entered the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, the first such visit since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lifted a three-year ban on lawmakers entering the flashpoint holy site.

Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel of the religious right-wing Jewish Home party became the first lawmaker to make use of the permit and entered the compound, the holiest site in Judaism and the third-holiest in Islam, at the beginning of non-Muslim visitation hours shortly after 7 a.m.

Ariel last week welcomed the prime minister's decision, but said that it did not go far enough.

5. Mind-blowing 1,600-year-old biblical mosaics paint new picture of Galilean life- Times of Israel

In its eighth dig season, the vibrant mosaic flooring of a fifth century synagogue excavated in the small ancient Galilee village of Huqoq continues to surprise. The 2018 Huqoq dig has uncovered unprecedented depictions of biblical stories, including the Israelite spies in Canaan.

With its rich finds, the Byzantine-period synagogue busts scholars' preconceived notions of a Jewish settlement in decline.

"What we found this year is extremely exciting," University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Prof. Jodi Magness told The Times of Israel, saying the biblically based depictions are "unparalleled" and not found in any other ancient synagogue.

1. Entire Thai soccer team, coach freed from cave after daring rescue, Navy says - FoxNews

The dramatic three-day rescue of a Thai youth soccer team that had been stuck in a flooded cave came to an end Tuesday when the last boy and the team's coach were plucked from the underground cavern -- more than two weeks after they became trapped, Navy officials said. The Thai Navy SEALS said on Facebook all 12 boys from the team and the team's coach were out of the cave. Four rescuers, a doctor and three Navy SEALS remained inside until coming out of the cave two hours later.

Chiang Rai Gov. Narongsak Osatanakorn said Tuesday's intricate and high-risk operation began just after 10 a.m. and involved 19 divers. "We did something nobody thought possible," he said during a brief news conference after the rescue was complete. Cheers and applause were reported in the streets as the final ambulance arrived at a hospital in Chiang Rai city. Payap Maiming, 40, who helped provide food and necessities to rescue workers and journalists, told the Associated Press a "miracle" had happened.

"I'm happy for Thais all over the country, for the people of Mae Sai, and actually just everyone in the world because every news channel has presented this story and this is what we have been waiting for," she said. Mae Sai is the district where the cave is located, in the northern part of Chiang Rai province, near the border with Myanmar. "It's really a miracle," Payap said. "It's hope and faith that has brought us this success." (Read more)

Lord, we thank You for the rescue of this soccer team! We ask that there be no lasting effects from their ordeal and pray that You grant them miracles of health and long life. Bring them to You, Lord, let this be a testimony to bring them to salvation.

So He became their Savior. In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the Angel of His Presence saved them. (Isaiah 63:8c, 9a)

2. "Hurry up pressure" to Stop Trump - Powerline

The FBI has slowly been producing documents to the DOJ Inspector General and various Congressional committees. As the process continues, more information comes out about the FBI's attempt to cement the 2016 presidential election for Hillary Clinton. The memos show Strzok, Lisa Page and others in counterintelligence monitored news articles in September 2016 that quoted a law enforcement source as saying the FBI was investigating Carter Page's travel to Moscow.

The FBI team pounced on what it saw as an opportunity as soon as [Carter] Page wrote a letter to then-FBI Director James Comey complaining about the "completely false" leak. "At a minimum, the letter provides us a pretext to interview," Strzok wrote to Lisa Page on Sept. 26, 2016. Within weeks, that "pretext" had been upsized to a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court warrant, giving the FBI the ability to use some of its most awesome powers to monitor Carter Page and his activities.

Some internal memos detail the pressure being applied by the FBI to DOJ prosecutors to get the warrant on Carter Page buttoned up before Election Day. This was the "insurance policy" that Strzok said would "stop" Trump from becoming president. In one email exchange with the subject line "Crossfire FISA"

The day after Trump's surprising win on Nov. 9, 2016, the FBI counterintelligence team engaged in a new mission, bluntly described in another string of emails prompted by another news leak. So the day after the election, James Comey's FBI was looking for "derogatory Confidential Informant info" on Donald Trump. As the president-elect geared up to take over, the FBI made another move that has captured investigators' attention: It named an executive with expertise in the FBI's most sensitive surveillance equipment to be a liaison to the Trump transition. (Read more)

Father, these revelations clearly show candidate, then President-elect Trump and his associates were being set-up by the FBI. We pray all those involved in this treasonous activity will repent, confess and be brought to justice.

Zion will be delivered with justice, her penitent ones with righteousness. But rebels and sinners will both be broken, and those who forsake the Lord will perish.
(Isaiah 1:27-28)

3. Nunes Targets the Real Collusion: The Media and DOJ - American Greatness

Congress is finally closing in on the biggest perpetrator of the Trump-Russia election collusion hoax: the American news media. Every conspiracy theory, every rumor, every dubious source has been chased down and breathlessly covered by once-credible news organizations. The elite press is complicit in one of the greatest political scandals of all-time: How the Obama administration concocted the tale that Donald Trump's campaign was working with the Russian government to influence the 2016 presidential election.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) now is asking his congressional colleagues to compel open testimony from several people suspected of working as conduits between the Justice Department and the media to facilitate the Trump-Russia narrative. Nunes's list centers around Glenn Simpson, the founder of Fusion GPS, the firm that produced the Christopher Steele "dossier." Simpson was a longtime reporter for the Wall Street Journal. He then leveraged his chummy relationships with other journalists to peddle the dossier and start planting negative stories about Trump campaign associates a few months before the election.

In addition to Simpson himself, Nunes wants the public to hear from Simpson's wife, Mary Jacoby, who claimed her husband was responsible for launching the FBI's Trump-Russia investigation; Simpson's Wall Street Journal colleague Neil King-the husband of a former White House communications advisor who was working for President Obama when the Trump-Russia conspiracy was born-and went to work for Fusion after the election; and Nellie Ohr, the wife of a top Justice Department official who was hired by Fusion GPS in 2016 to help the firm "with its research and analysis of Mr. Trump." Nunes also listed Hillary Clinton cronies Sidney Blumenthal and Cody Shearer and her campaign manager, Robby Mook. (Read more)

Father, open our understanding so that we may adequately pray over these deeds of darkness. We pray for complete exposure of all malicious prosecution towards those associated with President Trump.

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. (1 John 1:5)

4. How Mueller's team and the FBI served up Paul Manafort to Associated Press reporters - Washington Times

The FBI and Justice Department officials gave Associated Press reporters a green light on information they gathered which ended up in a negative story on former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort. The OK came at what appears to be an unusual summit between four AP reporters, the FBI and Andrew Weissmann at Justice Department offices. Mr. Weissmann is a senior lawyer for Special Counsel Robert Mueller and is prosecuting the jailed Mr. Manafort in Virginia and D.C. Mr. Weissmann set up the meeting on April 11, 2017, while heading the Justice Department's fraud division, according to two internal FBI emails. He joined Mr. Mueller's staff the next month and brought indictments against Mr. Manafort, starting in October 2017.

The indictments are nearly a carbon copy of what AP reporters told Mr. Weissmann and the FBI they had found on Mr. Manafort: Money laundering payments made by Ukrainian politicians; tax evasion on those funds and failure to register under the Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA). The public now knows about the AP-FBI alliance because Kevin Downing, Mr. Manafort's attorney, has waged an aggressive campaign to force Mr. Mueller to disclose evidence. In this case, Mr. Downing accuses the government of leaking grand jury proceedings and false information about his client, feeding news stories that malign Mr. Manafort in the eyes of potential jurors.

Mr. Mueller began turning over documents, two of which are FBI memos from agents recounting their AP pow-wow. Mr. Downing then filed the memos in open court to bolster his request to U.S. District Court Judge T.S. Ellis to hold a hearing, with witnesses, on whether the Mueller team or FBI violated grand jury secrecy rules.

Father, we pray Paul Manafort will be delivered from this pit - prepared for him by a conspiracy of the lawless. Do not let their evil plans succeed.

Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back. (Isaiah 38:17)

5. Trump Issues Full Pardons To Oregon Ranchers Forced Back Into Prison Under Anti-Terror Law - Daily Caller

President Donald Trump pardoned two Oregon ranchers forced back into prison in 2016 to serve out the rest of the mandatory minimum sentence required under an anti-terrorism law. Dwight and Steven Hammond were convicted of committing arson on federal land in 2012 under an anti-terrorism law from 1996. The U.S. District Court judge who sentenced the ranchers believed the mandatory minimum sentence was too harsh, thus both men served short stints in prison.

The Hammonds served their time, but federal prosecutors appealed the case and a federal court overturned the 2012 judgement. The Hammonds were forced back into prison in 2016 to serve the rest of their sentences. The Hammonds' re-incarceration sparked an armed takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in eastern Oregon by brothers Ammon and Ryan Bundy. An armed standoff between the Bundys and law enforcement ensued.

Protect the Harvest (PTH), agriculture advocacy group, has been lobbying the Trump administration to commute the Hammonds' sentences, arguing forcing them back into prison was unjust. "I've had great attorneys tell me this is the most malicious prosecution they've ever seen," PTH national strategic planner Dave Duquette told The Daily Caller News Foundation in June. (Read more)
Father, thank You that Donald Trump is a man who loves justice. We pray the Hammond and Bundy families, who were persecuted by the Bureau of Land Management and Department of Justice, will be fully restored for the wrong done to them.

Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. (Psalm 71:20)

6. Trump says solution for illegal migrant families is 'don't come to our country' - Washington Times

President Trump warned migrant families Tuesday that the best way to prevent losing their children is "don't come to our country illegally."

"I have a solution - tell people not to come to our country illegally," Mr. Trump told reporters at the White House. "That's the solution. Don't come to our country illegally. Come like other people do. Come legally." He was responding to a question about how the government will reunite about 3,000 illegal immigrant children who were separated from their families at the southern border.

"We have laws, we have borders. Don't come to our country illegally. It's not a good thing," Mr. Trump said. The family-separation issue has prompted protests around the country against the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. "We want no crime, and we want borders where borders mean something," he said. "Remember this - without borders, you do not have a country." (Read more)
Father, we pray this simple message will be heard loud and clear by anyone attempting illegal entry. Lord, protect and guide our border patrol and law enforcement to effectively secure the border and the interests of the United States.

Remind people to respect their governmental leaders on every level as law-abiding citizens and to be ready to fulfill their civic duty. (Titus 3:1)

7. GOP bill would make first-time illegal border crossing a felony, send sanctuary city funds to ICE - Washington Examiner

Rep. Diane Black, R-Tenn., introduced legislation Tuesday that would reclassify a first-time illegal entry at the border as a felony instead of a misdemeanor. Her Zero Tolerance for Illegal Entry Act would change the punishment for those apprehended illegally entering the U.S. for the first time to one year and one day in prison, which therefore makes it a felony. Today, the misdemeanor offense comes with jail term of up to six months.

The Tennessee lawmaker said she is proposing the change because she believes it would prevent would-be illegal entrants from coming to the U.S., and encourage migrants to apply for asylum at ports of entry instead of using smugglers to travel to the U.S.-Mexico border then cross between ports. "What this bill does is it sets up a huge disincentive," she told the Washington Examiner. "There is already a process set up and they should be using what the process is. We're not penalizing people are who doing things the right way seeking asylum. This is for people who are going around the system."

Black's bill also seeks to strip federal funding from the more than 400 sanctuary cities and counties that do not honor U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents requests for illegal immigrants in local law enforcement's custody. Her bill would sent that money to ICE, which she said could use the funding. Black said committee chairs have expressed interest in her bill ahead of its Tuesday roll-out, and said her focus is on getting enough co-sponsors so GOP leaders will consider bringing up the bill for a vote. (Read more)
Father, we pray for the success of this bill and its stated goal, to disincentivize illegal entry into the United States.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

8. Illegal Alien Charged with Raping Teen Sisters Deported Four Times from U.S. - Breitbart

An illegal alien who is one of four men accused of kidnapping and raping teen sisters was previously deported from the United States four times. Four illegal aliens - including 24-year-old illegal alien Simon Juan Thomas from Guatemala - are alleged to have kidnapped and raped a 13-year-old girl and her 14-year-old sister at a Days Inn near Wooster Street in Bowling Green, as Breitbart News reported.

While authorities continue a nationwide manhunt to find illegal aliens Arnulfo Ramos and Juan Adiel, Thomas and 27-year-old illegal alien David Ramos Contreras have been arrested and are in police custody. Thomas was arrested and charged by Bowling Green Police with raping minors and is currently imprisoned on a $50,000 bond. Police say 27-year-old Contreras is from Mexico and was supposed to be deported from the U.S. last year but instead was released back into the public after getting out of prison for multiple drunk driving charges. All four illegal aliens were using fake IDs, according to police. (Read more)
Father, again we hear the anguished cry of parents - "but they shouldn't have even been here!" We ask You to heal these sisters of this traumatic event. We pray for the apprehension of all these men, their repentance for the evil they have done and for justice for this family.

Remember, Lord, what has happened to us; look, and see our disgrace. Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, our homes to foreigners. (Lamentations 5:1-2)

9. 2,300 suspected child sex offenders arrested in nationwide sting - American Military News

The Department of Justice in June announced the arrest of more than 2,300 suspected online child sex offenders. The nationwide sting took place over a three-month period and was conducted by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task forces, according to the Department of Justice. The combined task forces were located in all 50 states and included more than 4,500 federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies who identified 195 offenders.

The sting operation was known as "Broken Heart," and it was carried out during March, April and May of this year. The operation targeted suspects who: produce, distribute, receive and possess child pornography; engage in online enticement of children for sexual purposes; engage in the sex trafficking of children; and travel across state lines or to foreign countries and sexually abuse children, the Justice Department said. One of those arrested was a United States Secret Service employee, Jeffery Litteral, 52, from Denton. His charges included possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, possession of obscene material and distribution of obscene material, ABC 47 reported.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said: "No child should ever have to endure sexual abuse. And yet, in recent years, certain forms of modern technology have facilitated the spread of child pornography and created greater incentives for its production. We at the Department of Justice are determined to strike back against these repugnant crimes. It is shocking and very sad that in this one operation, we have arrested more than 2,300 alleged child predators and investigated some 25,200 sexual abuse complaints. Any would-be criminal should be warned: this Department will remain relentless in hunting down those who victimize our children." (Read more)
Father, we pray these round-ups will expose even more child predators and bring all of them to justice. We pray for the safety of our children and the repentance for everyone involved in doing these unspeakable acts.

If anyone causes one of these little ones-those who believe in me-to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. (Matthew 18:6)

10. Americans in UK warned to keep 'low profile' during Trump visit - AOL.com

The U.S. Embassy in London issued an alert on Tuesday to Americans in the British capital, warning them to keep a low profile during President Donald Trump's visit later this week in case protests against him turn violent. Trump arrives in Britain on Thursday after a NATO summit and thousands of protesters are expected to join demonstrations during his visit, including plans to fly a blimp over parliament portraying Trump as an orange, snarling baby.

More than 50,000 people have signed up to demonstrate in London on Friday against his visit although a counter-gathering to welcome him is also planned. Trump arrives in Britain on Thursday after the NATO summit in Belgium and will stay overnight at the central London residence of the U.S. ambassador where a high metal security fence was erected outside.

He will hold talks with Prime Minister Theresa May at her 16th-century manor house, meet Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle and attend a black-tie dinner at the home of former World War Two leader Winston Churchill - all outside London. The U.S. president is also due to travel to Scotland where he owns two golf courses and Scotland's interim police chief has said more than 5,000 officers would be needed for to cover the trip, including specialist riot and armed officers. (Read more)

Father, we pray You will use this visit to show the British people how manipulated they are and have been in their perceptions about President Trump. Flip the script, Lord, and bring them out of deception.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)

Of the world, or of the Word?

The Daily Jot began over 16 years ago with a simple mission: to use current events to equip and encourage people to evangelize the word of God. You may not always agree with what the Daily Jot has to say, but there may always be something in it to talk to others about or to take action. Some just get angry or don't want to think about the way events are shaping up prophetically or the way they are having an impact on society. We, as Christians, cannot afford to ignore the world around us. The issues will not go away if we look the other way. In fact, when Christians are not engaged with their family, their community, their state, their country, everything goes the way of the world, not the way of the Word.

Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." He said in Mark 16:15, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Romans 10:13-15 says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent?

If you receive The Daily Jot, you are hearing and you are being sent. You are called to action. You have current events to use to share the Word of God. As written in 1 Peter 2:9, "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." James 1:25 says, "But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." As Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

It's not always easy. Many people find sharing the word uncomfortable in this day and age. But we are not charged to be comfortable, but to take up our cross and follow the Lord. That means it's not chocolate and roses, or Rolexes or checks in the mail or nice cars or whatever material things modern preachers are preaching about. It's not really about you or me. It's about Jesus and Him being preached. 2 Corinthians 8-13 says, "We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsake; cast down, but not destroyed...We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak." So let us speak boldly as we ought to for if you are reading this you are equipped and encouraged to do so.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Classic Hymns

ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS' NAME

"God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the Name that is above every name, that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:9-11)

Lyrics

All hail the power of Jesus' Name! Let angels prostrate fall; Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all. Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all.

Let highborn seraphs tune the lyre, and as they tune it, fall Before His face Who tunes their choir, and crown Him Lord of all. Before His face Who tunes their choir, and crown Him Lord of all.

Crown Him, ye morning stars of light, who fixed this floating ball; Now hail the strength of Israel's might, and crown Him Lord of all. Now hail the strength of Israel's might, and crown Him Lord of all.

Crown Him, ye martyrs of your God, who from His altar call; Extol the Stem of Jesse's Rod, and crown Him Lord of all. Extol the Stem of Jesse's Rod, and crown Him Lord of all.

Ye seed of Israel's chosen race, ye ransomed from the fall, Hail Him Who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all. Hail Him Who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all.

Hail Him, ye heirs of David's line, whom David Lord did call, The God incarnate, Man divine, and crown Him Lord of all, The God incarnate, Man divine, and crown Him Lord of all.
Sinners, whose love can ne'er forget the wormwood and the gall, Go spread your trophies at His feet, and crown Him Lord of all. Go spread your trophies at His feet, and crown Him Lord of all.

Let every tribe and every tongue before Him prostrate fall And shout in universal song the crownèd Lord of all. And shout in universal song the crownèd Lord of all.

Approaching Green Comet Explodes

A comet that could become visible to the naked eye in August has just exploded in brightness. Amateur astronomer Michael Jäger? of Austria reports that Comet PANSTARRS (C/2017 S3) brightened 16-fold during the late hours of July 2nd, abruptly increasing in magnitude from +12 to +9. He took this picture of the comet's expanding green atmosphere shortly after the outburst.
"The gas cloud around the comet's nucleus is about 4 arc minutes wide," says Jäger?. That means the comet's atmosphere is 260,000 km in diameter, almost twice as wide as the planet Jupiter. These dimensions make it a relatively easy target for backyard telescopes.

Comet PanSTARRS is falling toward the sun from the Oort cloud, a vast reservoir of fresh comets in the distant outer solar system. It has never visited the inner planets before, and, as a result, no one can say what will happen when its fragile ices are exposed to solar heat as it approaches the sun in August. Previous estimates of the comet's brightness max out at magnitude +4--that is, barely visible to the unaided eye from dark-sky sites. Additional outbursts could boost its visibility even more.

The comet was discovered on Sept. 23, 2017, by the PanSTARRS telescope on the summit of the Haleakala volcano in Maui. PanSTARRS's primary mission is to detect near-Earth asteroids that threaten our planet. In the process,it sweeps up variable stars, supernovas, and comets like this one. With almost a year of data in hand, astronomers have been able to nail down the comet's orbit. Click on the image to launch an interactive 3D visualization from JPL.
Comet PanSTARRS is approaching the sun on a hyperbolic orbit--a narrow open-ended path that will ultimately fling it back to the outer solar system. At perihelion (closest approach to the sun) on August 15-16, the comet will be inside the orbit of Mercury, blasted by solar radiation at point-blank range. What will happen then? Stay tuned.
