Trump in Scotland; Putin Next

President Trump Wraps Up his Vacation in Scotland Tomorrow;

Will Fly Next to Helsinki for Talks with Vladimir Putin

1. Donald Trump in Scotland: Golf, picnic protests, and blaming Obama for Russian election meddling - - ABC News/Australia

Two days before a high-stakes summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump has played golf and tweeted from one of his namesake resorts, blaming his predecessor for Russian election meddling and lashing out at the free press from foreign soil.

In his weekend tweets, Mr Trump tried to blame former President Barack Obama for failing to stop the Russians from working to help him win the 2016 election.

"The stories you heard about the 12 Russians yesterday took place during the Obama administration, not the Trump administration," Mr Trump tweeted, asking why they did not "do something about it, especially when it was reported that President Obama was informed by the FBI in September, before the Election?" (Read more)

- Thank You, Lord, that once again, President Donald Trump has spoken truth where the "fake news" media has brought distortion. We, too, ask why this matter was not addressed immediately under the Obama administration, but we are not surprised. Lord, as Your watchmen on the wall, help us to discern truth and only truth in these perilous times. Amen.

- " Let no man deceive you by any means . . ." (2 Thessalonians 2:3a)

- Lord God, as our President touches the ground in Scotland upon which his own ancestors stood, we ask that there will be a fresh infilling for him, that he may be strengthened in the Spirit for the days ahead. Amen.

- "I will pour water upon him that is thirsty and floods upon the dry ground."
(Isaiah 44:3)

PLEASE CLAIM THIS WORD FOR PRESIDENT TRUMP -- the same verse that was quickened to two of his aunts in 1949 in Hebrides, Scotland . . . which gave birth to the now-famous "Hebrides Revival."

2. What Trump wants in Helsinki - and what Putin wants from him - NBC News

(Excerpts)
What Trump Wants

. . . Specifically, he said his agenda with Putin includes many of the issues about which NATO countries are most worried.

"We will talk about a number of things: Ukraine, Syria, the Middle East, nuclear proliferation," Trump said. "We are massively modernizing and fixing and buying and it's just a devastating technology. It is a very bad policy. We have no choice. We are massively big and they are very big and I'll be talking about nuclear proliferation. I will absolutely bring up meddling. Hopefully we will have a very good relationship with Russia, China and other countries."

What Putin wants

Putin is eager to normalize relations with the U.S., which does relatively little trade with Russia and has levied painful sanctions on Putin government officials and associates over Russia's incursions into Ukraine and its cyberattacks against the U.S.

Putin has said that it is his goal to join forces with the U.S. to provide greater security and stability for the world, but he has done so even as he has executed physical and technological attacks on other countries that fall short of triggering a military response from the U.S. and NATO. (Read more)

- Lord God, we ask Your Mighty Hand of Protection to rest upon President Donald J. Trump during his time with Putin in Finland. Sadly, it was 100 years ago this week that the last czar in Russia was assassinated, paving the way for the start of the Communist Revolution in 1918. We pray that history will NOT repeat itself this week, but for the smooth and peaceful knitting together of the nations (in this case, the U.S. and Russia), in preparation for Your soon return! Amen!

- ". . . and the government shall rest upon His shoulder." (Isaiah 9:6)

US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania were greeted with British pomp and ceremony ahead of a black-tie dinner with Prime Minister Theresa May, kicking off his first visit to the UK as president. (To view segments of this opening ceremony, please go here.)

- Father, we thank You that, during this opening ceremony held officially by Prime Minister Teresa May, our President was honored. Amen.

- " . . . give respect and honor to those who are in authority." (Romans 13:7 NLT)

About Brett Kavanaugh

About Brett Kavanaugh:

Two Articles of Interest

Editor's note:

There have been two incidents in the recent past where a President has nominated a person to sit on the Supreme Court, who was then turned down. The first instance was that of Harriet Miers, who was nominated by President George W. Bush in 2005, but later withdrew her own nomination. Justice Roberts as then named and admitted to the Court shortly afterwards.

The second recent instance is that of Judge Bork, nominated to serve on the Supreme Court by President Ronald Reagan in 1987. Bork's nomination made it as far as the Senate Judiciary Committee, where it was turned down. Reagan next appointed Justice Anthony Kennedy who, after many years of service, has just resigned.
We offer the following two articles to you today for your own prayerful consideration, and we continue to pray that only the man or woman of God's choosing be placed on the now-vacant seat of the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
- "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:32)

- "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10)

1. Judge Andrew Napolitano: Why I am so deeply disappointed by Trump's Supreme Court pick - Fox News

When Donald Trump started running for the Republican nomination for president in June 2015, he began by attacking the Republican establishment in Washington, and he began his attack by calling the establishment "the swamp."

His real target was the permanent government and its enablers in the legal, financial, diplomatic and intelligence communities in Washington. These entities hover around power centers no matter which party is in power.

Beneath the swamp, Trump argued, lies the deep state. This is a loose collection of career government officials who operate outside ordinary legal and constitutional frameworks and use the levers of government power to favor their own, affect public policy and stay in power. Though I did not vote for Trump -- I voted for the Libertarian candidate -- a part of me rejoiced at his election because I accepted his often repeated words that he would be a stumbling block to the deep state and he'd drain the swamp.

On Monday night, he rewarded the swamp denizens and deep state outliers by nominating one of their own to the Supreme Court.

Here is the back story. (Read more)

2. Some Conservatives Criticize Kavanaugh: 'Swamp Pick,' 'Bush Pick,' Not Scalia' - CNSNews.com

Several leading conservatives and libertarians strongly criticized President Donald Trump's nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to replace Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court, with some describing Kavanaugh as the "Bush pick" and a judge who is not like Antonin Scalia or Clarence Thomas.

On Tuesday, the American Family Association, one of the leading conservative pro-life and pro-family Christian organizations in the country, issued a press release opposing Kavanuagh. The AFA said it is "deeply concerned about how he might ultimately rule on issues related to abortion and religious liberty." The AFA added that they "have no plans to fight President Trump on this nomination."

Libertarian Fox & Friends panelist Judge Andrew Napolitano also expressed his concerns about the nomination, affirming his belief that Kavanaugh was the "swamp pick." Napolitano stated on Tuesday that he was "disappointed in the president because this is not the type of person he said he would pick. Justice [Neil] Gorsuch was. [Brett Kavanaugh] is at the heart and soul of the D.C. establishment against whom the president railed."

In an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo on Monday night, former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Penn.) asserted that the president failed to "energize the base with this pick." Kavanaugh is "the establishment pick. He was the Bush pick," Santorum said. "It just seems like, you know, Trump in this case just bowed to the elite in Washington and I think that's going to rub a lot of people the wrong way."

On his nationally syndicated radio talk show Tuesday, host Mark Levin strongly disapproved of Brett Kavanaugh's decision to legally characterize the financial penalties of Obamacare's individual mandate as a tax. "You have to assume that Kavanaugh would have voted with Roberts" on Obamacare, Levin said. "He is not Scalia; he is not Thomas; he is not Alito; and in this case, he wasn't even Kennedy. So we'll see. The conservatives on the judiciary committee politely and legitimately need to pursue this. This is a big deal." (Read more)

Prayers and Presidents:

Our 23rd President: Benjamin Harrison

(1889-1893)

[Each week, we will publish one prayer that was spoken by each of our presidents, in chronological order. Today's prayer was written by our 23rd president, Benjamin Harrison]

"My promise is spoken; yours unspoken, but not the less real and solemn. The people of every State have here their representatives. Surely I do not misinterpret the spirit of the occasion when I assume that the whole body of the people covenant with me and with each other to-day to support and defend the Constitution and the Union of the States, to yield willing obedience to all the laws and each to every other citizen his equal civil and political rights. Entering thus solemnly into covenant with each other, we may reverently invoke and confidently expect the favor and help of Almighty God--that He will give to me wisdom, strength, and fidelity, and to our people a spirit of fraternity and a love of righteousness and peace." - Inaugural Address; March 4, 1889
