"Standing United Together . . . Under the Cross of Christ"

Focus on Israel

1. Iran Has Deployed Missiles in Yemen That Could Hit Israel, Netanyahu Says - HAARETZ

Iran has begun deploying missiles in Yemen in order to strike Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday.

Speaking with visiting U.S. Secretary of Treasury Steven Mnuchin, Netanyahu congratulated President Donald Trump for the successful operation to kill ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and said that Israel is "still in the midst of the war against terror - not only against extreme Sunnis led by ISIS but also against extreme Shi'ites led by Iran and its Mideast proxies."

According to Netanyahu, "Iran is already aspiring to obtain precision weapons to hit every target in the Middle East. . . they manufacture them in Iran and want to deploy them in Iraq and in Syria, and turn the 130,000-rocket arsenal in Lebanon into precision munitions. They aspire to do that, and they have already begun deploying them in Yemen in order to strike Israel from there as well."

2. Secret synagogue in Dubai prays for Persian Gulf revival - Israel Hayom

In an unmarked villa, nestled amid homes in an upscale Dubai neighborhood, a congregation prays in the first fully functioning synagogue in the Arabian Peninsula in decades.

Though its members keep its precise location secret, the synagogue's existence and the tacit approval it has received from this Islamic sheikhdom represent a slow rebirth of a burgeoning Jewish community in the Persian Gulf, uprooted over the decades after the creation of Israel.

The United Arab Emirates' rulers have sought to boost the community by hosting interfaith events and pledging to build a massive multi-faith complex that includes a synagogue, part of their efforts to burnish the country's image to the West. Meanwhile, ties between Gulf Arab states and Israel slowly warm over their mutual enmity of Iran, though concerns about the future of the Palestinians remain a wedge.

3. 'Attack on Israeli democracy' - Israel National News

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu today addressed suspicions that his advisors were harassing state witness Shlomo (Momo) Filber in Case 4000.

"The upcoming confiscation of consultants' phones is an attack on Israeli democracy and the right to privacy that belongs to every citizen. We don't live in a dark regime and mustn't act that way. The goal is to threaten my immediate environment and in this way to deny my ability to respond to the flood of criminal leaks that continue against me non-stop."

"Why don't they investigate that?" Netanyahu wondered.

In recent days, the Prime Minister's three communications and media consultants - Ofer Golan, Jonathan Orich, and Topaz Locke - have been questioned and their personal phones confiscated. This has caused a great deal of outrage for Netanyahu and those close to him who call it unnecessary persecution by law enforcement officials.

4. With Peace Plan Still Locked Away, Trump Envoy Kushner Visits Israel, Meets With Gantz and Netanyahu - Algemeiner

US President Donald Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner visited Israel on Monday, meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his top rivals, Benny Gantz and Yair Lapid of the Blue and White party.

Gantz - who currently holds the mandate to try to form the next government after September's inconclusive Knesset elections - tweeted, "I met today with the senior adviser to the US president, Jared Kushner, along with Yair Lapid and US Ambassador David Friedman. We spoke about developments in the Middle East and the good and strong relations between the US and [Israel]." The Prime Minister's Office announced that Kushner had also sat down with Netanyahu and his team, including National Security Council Director Meir Ben-Shabbat and Israeli Ambassador to the US Ron Dermer.

5. Pittsburgh victims remembered at anniversary ceremony with tears and prayers - Times Of Israel

JTA - Eleven memorial candles stood on a table at the start of the public memorial service for the attack one year ago on the Tree of Life synagogue building.

Family members of the 11 people killed in the attack walked around the table holding hands as a string ensemble played in the background. They then lit the candles, wiping their eyes and hugging each other.

The Jewish community was joined at Sunday's ceremony by members of the Christian and Muslim faith communities, as well as city and state officials. The ceremony was held under the banner of "Remember. Repair. Together."

Cindy Snyder of the Center for victims, called the shooting "an act driven by hatred" which was "an attack on all people of the Jewish faith."

1. ISIS spokesman Abu Hassan al-Muhajir, considered potential al-Baghdadi successor, also killed in Syria, official says - Fox

ISIS spokesman Abu Hassan al-Muhajir, considered a potential Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi successor, was also killed in Syria, a senior State Department official confirmed to Fox News on Monday. Al-Muhajir was considered a "number two" to al-Baghdadi, and a potential successor, according to the official. The senior State Department official said Al-Muhajir was killed in Aleppo province in a separate attack by U.S. forces. "He was killed very close to the North East, very close to the Euphrates River. . . he was killed by U.S. Forces," the official told Fox News.

_Lord, we praise You for our brave Special Operations Forces, who remain unharmed after two major operations in Syria. We thank You for them, and for our President who understands the dangers of terrorists working against America. We pray that the continued work against ISIS will bring ALL jihadist fighters to their knees.

-"that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of the Father." (Philippians 2:10,11)

2. Mike Pompeo blasts the Washington Post for 'appalling and sick' al-Baghdadi headline- Fox

The Washington Post's headline describing former ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as a "religious scholar" is a false, "sick" narrative and should be viewed as "appalling," Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Monday on "Fox & Friends."

Pompeo said the newspaper's timing and choice of words were completely out of line and called for those responsible to apologize.

"I think it's appalling and sick . . .that they've frankly not apologized for taking this man who was the head of the terrorist organization that beheaded people. . . who led a caliphate that threatened large pieces of the Middle East and indeed, presented risks to the United States and America," Pompeo said.

"The fact that a national newspaper would describe this person as an "austere scholar" in their headline -- in the immediate aftermath of the achievements of President Trump and the administration, is truly appalling," Pompeo continued.

_Father. The mainstream news media is so far left that they changed their headline to read as if Al-Baghdadi was some kind of professor who just died of natural causes. We pray that You will bring their complete foolishness to light for all to see, and grant our nation eyes to see and ears to hear.

- "But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear." (Matthew 13:16)

3. Trump says he kept details of ISIS operation from Pelosi to avoid leaks - Fox

President Trump said Sunday morning that he did not tell House Speaker Nancy Pelosi about the U.S. military raid in Syria that resulted in the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi because he was worried about leaks that could have compromised the mission.

Vice President Mike Pence said this was not an indication of a lack of trust.

When asked if he notified Pelosi beforehand, Trump said he did not because he did not want any members of the U.S. forces to die.

"No, I didn't. I didn't do that. I wanted to make sure this kept secret," Trump said. "I don't want to have people lost."

Pelosi issued a statement after al-Baghdadi's death was announced, criticizing Trump for not informing leaders in Congress beforehand.

_Lord, this was absolutely necessary, given the leaks from Congress in the past three years, and the "secret" impeachment hearings that are currently being held. We praise You for the President's actions to keep our troops safe.

4. REPORT: Soros-Linked Media Tool Tracked Journalists, Trump Allies- American Action News

While news is breaking that U.S. Attorney John Durham's investigation into government surveillance of the Trump campaign is now a criminal probe, another, lesser-known story of allegedly unlawful monitoring of conservatives should concern you equally.

Judicial Watch is reporting that the State Department utilized a social media tracking tool linked to George Soros to spy on prominent conservative personalities, reporters, and associates of President Trump.

The tool, Crowdtangle, monitored a dozen U.S. citizens, including one of the President's sons, his personal attorney, and Fox News hosts Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham.

Per Judicial Watch:

Last week Judicial Watch launched an investigation into the unlawful monitoring, which State Department sources say was conducted by the agency in Ukraine at the request of ousted U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, an Obama appointee. Judicial Watch has obtained information indicating Yovanovitch may have violated laws and government regulations by ordering subordinates to target certain U.S. persons using State Department resources. Yovanovitch reportedly ordered monitoring keyed to the following search terms: Biden, Giuliani, Soros and Yovanovitch. Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the State Department last week and continues gathering facts from government sources. This week Judicial Watch filed another FOIA request for information related to the State Department's use of Crowdtangle.

_Father, this is an egregious violation of the Freedom of the Press. We pray that the perpetrators will be brought to justice, and that nothing can any longer be hidden from Your Light of truth.

5. Former Democrat Rep. John Conyers Dies at 90- Breitbart

Former U.S. Rep. John Conyers, one of the longest-serving members of Congress whose resolutely liberal stance on civil rights made him a political institution in Washington and back home in Detroit despite several scandals, has died. He was 90.

Conyers, among the high-profile politicians topped by sex harassment allegations in 2017, died at his home on Sunday, said Detroit police spokesman Cpl. Dan Donakowski. The death "looks like natural causes," Donakowski added.

Known as the dean of the Congressional Black Caucus, which he helped found, Conyers became one of only six black House members when he was won his first election by just 108 votes in 1964. The race was the beginning of more than 50 years of election dominance: Conyers regularly won elections with more than 80 percent of the vote, even after his wife went to prison for taking a bribe.

6. Democrat Katie Hill Is Resigning Amid Allegations Of Sexual Relationships With Staffers, Report Says- Daily Wire

Democrat Rep. Katie Hill (CA) is reportedly resigning from Congress this week after allegations surfaced that she had engaged in relationships with a campaign staffer and a congressional staffer. Politico reported on Sunday that Hill is "set to resign by the end of the week," according to "two Democratic sources." The development comes after the House Ethics Committee announced on Wednesday that it was launching an investigation into Hill: The Committee is aware of public allegations that Representative Katie Hill may have engaged in a sexual relationship with an individual on her congressional staff, in violation of House Rule XXIII, clause 18(a). The Committee, pursuant to Committee Rule 18(a), has begun an investigation and will gather additional information regarding the allegations.

_Father, we pray on bended knee for You to deal with the perversion that is so rampant in our nation. We repent, Lord, from Congress to Hollywood and everywhere in between, of the sin that is eating away at the heart of America. We ask for judgment, righteousness, and conviction of sin.

"And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment." (John 16:8)

7. Judge OKs attacks on major Christian ministry as 'hate group'- WND

It seems, according to a federal judge's decision protecting the Southern Poverty Law Center's practice of labeling Christian organizations as "hate groups," that just about anyone can be labeled a "hate group."

Judge Myron H. Thompson found that the definitions of "hate group" vary so widely that the slam is protected by the First Amendment, even if it causes harm.

The ruling came in a case brought by D. James Kennedy Ministries against SPLC, which routinely labels anyone who disagrees with its pro-transgender, pro-homosexual, pro-abortion agenda as a hater or "hate group."

In fact, the ministry, which is appealing the ruling, had been prevented from participating in an online donation program because of the label.

But "the term 'hate group,'" Thompson wrote, "has no single, commonly understood meaning."

_Lord, we bind the lies that are being perpetrated against Your church and ministries and declare them null and void. We ask that Your people be given a special gift of faith, finances, and wisdom to be able to stand against them, and that all lies perpetrated by groups such as the SPLC be soundly denounced by the courts as this decision is appealed. We pray for those on the 11th circuit court to see the truth and move to follow the Constitution, not their own thoughts.

-"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." (Proverbs 9:10)

8. Gospel work continues despite Lebanon protests- MNNonline.org

It has been a tumultuous week in Lebanon. Hundreds of thousands of protestors remain in the streets. Tax reforms began the movement; now, it's about reforming the government.

Protestors want the current government to step down, and they're calling for early elections. Lebanon's Prime Minister hinted for the first time yesterday that a reshuffle may be in the works.

Heart for Lebanon's Tom Atema just returned from Beirut. "Things have gotten worse since Monday afternoon," he tells MNN.

"I'm calling this Lebanon's Arab Spring."

What's going on in Lebanon?

As described here, current Lebanese frustration centers on the nation's economic plight. Lebanon carries one of the world's largest debt loads; last month, the government declared an economic state of emergency.

Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil suggested Lebanon might run out of funds by the end of the year, Reuters reports. "The protests have been peaceful up until now," Atema says.

_Lord, as Lebanon nears financial collapse, with the terrorist group Hezbollah still running the government, we ask that You remove those who hate You and replace the leadership with believers who have Your wisdom, and truly care about the people.

-"He shall cut off the spirit of princes; He is awesome to the kings of the earth." (Psalm 76:12)

9. Chinese Church Fined $1,400 for Owning 'Wrong' Version of Bible- Christian Headlines

A Chinese church was fined this year the equivalent of $1,400 in U.S. for having a copy of the Bible in a different language, according to a religious watchdog.

The congregation, Fengyang Road Three-Self Great Church in the northeastern province of Liaoning, is a member of the officially recognized Three-Self network of Protestant churches that face severe restrictions.

In April, Chinese Communist Party officials found copies of South Korean Bibles in the church's possession - an illegal action that sparked a fine of $10,000 RMB (about $1,400 USD), according to Bitter Winter, which monitors religious freedom in the country.

"The church was also prohibited from selling Bibles," Bitter Winter reported.

The fine was part of the Communist Party's effort to "eradicate pornography and illegal publications" - and the latest example of the party's crackdown on Christianity.

10. Authorities Study Skulls, Fetus from Mexico City Cartel's Witchcraft Altar - Breitbart

Authorities are working to identify 42 skulls, a fetus in a jar, and dozens of other human remains found around a witchcraft altar apparently used by the "Union de Tepito" cartel in Mexico City.

Forensic analysts are working to identify the remains found in one of the houses recently raided in the Tepito area of Mexico City. Through the use of DNA samples, authorities are working to identify the victims and determine if they match any missing person cases, El Universal reports.

Breitbart Texas reported last week on a large-scale raid targeting the Union de Tepito where more than 700 police and military forces arrested 31 suspects, seized several tons of drugs, and found two labs. Authorities also found a weapons cache which included a rocket launcher and grenades.

May Your Blood cover us against the wiles of the enemy, and may Your Spirit bring with You an abhorrence of evil and the removal of all who will not bend their knee.

-"I will destroy your witchcraft and you will no longer cast spells." (Micah 5:12)

SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER

"Pray continually." (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Lyrics

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! That calls me from a world of care, And bids me at my Father's throne Make all my wants and wishes known. In seasons of distress and grief, My soul has often found relief And oft escaped the tempter's snare By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! The joys I feel, the bliss I share, Of those whose anxious spirits burn With strong desires for thy return! With such I hasten to the place Where God my Savior shows His face, And gladly take my station there, And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! Thy wings shall my petition bear To Him whose truth and faithfulness Engage the waiting soul to bless. And since He bids me seek His face, Believe His Word and trust His grace, I'll cast on Him my every care, And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! May I thy consolation share, Till, from Mount Pisgah's lofty height, I view my home and take my flight: This robe of flesh I'll drop and rise To seize the everlasting prize; And shout, while passing through the air, "Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!"

Israeli Archaeologists Uncover 1,500-Year-Old Church Dedicated to a 'Glorious Martyr'

"We are proud of our collaboration with the Israel Antiquities Authority bringing to light these important new finds for the thousands of visitors from all faiths ages and nationalities, inviting them to appreciate the rich cultural heritage of the Land of Israel." -Amanda Weiss, Director of the Bible Lands Museum

(Jerusalem, Israel) - [CBN News] Israeli archaeologists have uncovered a significant 1,500-year-old church near Israel's Ramat Beit Shemesh neighborhood.

This Byzantine-era church was erected during the time of Emperor Justinian in 543 AD. A chapel was later added during the reign of Emperor Tiberius II Constantine. The inscription found at the excavation site says the church was completed with his financial support.

"Numerous written sources attest to imperial funding for churches in Israel, however, little is known from archaeological evidence such as dedicatory inscriptions like the one found in Beit Shemesh," said Benjamin Storchan, director of the excavation on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority. "Imperial involvement in the building's expansion is also evoked by the image of a large eagle with outspread wings-the symbol of the Byzantine Empire-which appears in one of the mosaics."

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God."
