Supreme Court Set to Weigh Fate of War Memorial Cross
The fate of a 40-foot high cross erected in 1925 to honor men who died in World War I will be the focus of arguments before the Supreme Court Wednesday. The concrete cross, known as the Peace Cross, was erected in Bladensburg, Maryland by the American Legion. It has been owned by the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission since 1961.
Atheists demanded the federal courts rule the monument violated the constitutional prohibition on the establishment of religion, claiming they were offended by the display. The cross sits at a prominent intersection in the Washington area. The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, in a two to one decision, ordered that the cross be removed or altered to remove any religious symbolism.
The American Legion and the Maryland park commission are appealing that decision, with President Donald Trump's administration joining them. The Supreme Court has struggled for decades to lay out clear rules for public displays of religious symbols and activities. Supporters of the Maryland monument are now asking the court to throw out the complex web of rules created by often conflicting precedents in favor of a simpler test of whether an act of government coerces religious belief. (Breitbart) Read more.
- Father, in Jesus Name, we lift up this religious liberty case about the 93 year old Peace Cross Veterans Memorial to You. We pray that You would go before the attorneys of First Liberty and those representing the American Legion. Prepare them to present the most convincing case ever for Your Cross. Open the hearts, eyes and ears of each Supreme Court Justice to receive Your Truth. May Justice prevail in this case so that this Cross and others across our nation will continue to stand, in Jesus Name.
- I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

1. Trump advisers: Low odds 'Deal of the Century' succeeds - World Israel News
Trump's advisers estimate that the chances of success of the 'Deal of the Century' are low, Israel Hayom reports.
Even though Trump's team has begun a public relations campaign for its Israel-Arab peace deal, with the president's son-in-law and point-man Jared Kushner offering tantalizing detailson Monday about the long-awaited proposal, both he and those working on the deal are pessimistic about its chances of success given Palestinian intransigence, the Israeli daily reports.
Although the Palestinians are expected to be the main stumbling block, having broken off relations with the Trump administration after it moved the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, it is not the only one.

2. 'They're establishing Palestine over our heads' - Israel National News
Education Minister Naftali Bennett (New Right), a member of the Political-Security Cabinet, demanded on Tuesday that the details of the Trump administration's peace plan be published before the elections in Israel.
"Imagine a group of doctors discussing your body and preparing to remove a part of your body without telling you which part. That's exactly what is happening here," Bennett said.
In the wake of the meetings between Trump's advisers and leaders of Arab countries, Bennett said, "Everyone is planning over our heads the 'Deal of the Century' for the establishment of Palestine after the elections. The President of the United States, the King of Saudi Arabia, the King of Jordan, [Turkish President] Erdogan."

4. Shaked will not intervene in Netanyahu investigation - Israel National News
According to the report, in a letter sent by Netanyahu's attorney Navot Tel Tzur to Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, Netanyahu demanded that Mashad ensure that the Justice Ministry release the answers he sent to the State Comptroller from the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017. It is alleged there was nothing illegal about the relationship between Netanyahu and Elovitz.
Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked announced today she will not interfere in the request by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's attorneys to receive material they claim to be related to the investigations against him, and that the handling of the request was transferred to the Attorney General.
Last night it was reported that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's attorney approached Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked asking her to work to release material that would prove that his relationship with Bezeq owner Shaul Elovitch was not inappropriate.

5. Israel bracing for possible locust swarm invasion -YNET News The Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry is gearing up for the arrival of locust swarms in Israel, although chances of that are relatively low.
As part of the preparations, the Plant Protection and Inspection Services of the Ministry of Agriculture are in constant contact with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in order to receive updates about the locust movement in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, the ministry has begun doing inventories on pesticides-which do not pose risk to human health-in order to use against the short-horned grasshoppers if the need arises.

1. Thousands Greet Donald Trump After Landing in Vietnam for Kim Jong-Un Summit - Breitbart
Thousands flocked to see President Donald Trump arrive in Vietnam on Tuesday for the diplomatic summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un.
Trump landed at the Hanoi airport early evening and was welcomed by over a dozen Vietnamese officials and American diplomats. He traveled about 30 minutes to his hotel, as thousands of people lined the streets to welcome the president, according to reporters. Many of the locals waved U.S. and Vietnamese flags.
"Just arrived in Vietnam," Trump wrote on Twitter. "Thank you to all of the people for the great reception in Hanoi. Tremendous crowds, and so much love!" Kim and Trump are scheduled to meet for dinner on Wednesday evening, followed by a more formal summit on Thursday. (Read more)
- Father, thank You for this warm reception and expressions of hope from the Vietnamese and Korean peoples. We pray for the safety of President Trump and Chairman Kim and for Your Spirit to lead and guide the discussions and agreements between our nations.
- You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds, God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas (Psalm 65:5)
2. 'Chilling the atmosphere': North Korea media condemns U.S. Democrats ahead of summit - Reuters
North Korea's state media criticized U.S. Democrats and American intelligence officials on Sunday for "chilling the atmosphere" ahead of leader Kim Jong Un's second summit with President Donald Trump this week.
"The Democratic Party of the U.S. and other opponents to the negotiations move overtly and covertly to disrupt them as supported by skepticism backed by all sorts of groundless stories and misinformation even at such a crucial moment as now," said the commentary, which was released under the name Jong Hyon. Trump's opponents would bear the responsibility if the summit failed to achieve results, which would leave the U.S. people exposed to "security threats", it said.
In a letter to Trump on Thursday, three Democratic chairmen of House committees accused the administration of withholding information on the negotiations with North Korea. "There are ample reasons to be skeptical that Chairman Kim is committed to a nuclear-free North Korea," the lawmakers wrote. "We are perplexed and troubled by the growing disconnect between the intelligence community's assessment and your administration's statements about Kim Jong Un's actions, commitments, and intentions." (Read more)
- Father, we pray the media will not be able to destabilize these important talks or distract from the real progress that's being made.
- He who troubles his own house will inherit the wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart. (Proverbs 11:29)
3. Curtain rises on 3 days of Cohen drama - The Hill
Michael Cohen is kicking off three straight days of Capitol Hill testimony on Tuesday, including a high-profile public appearance before a House committee that promises plenty of explosive moments as Democrats dig into investigations of his former boss, President Trump.
The Democratic-led House Oversight and Reform Committee has laid out broad parameters for Cohen's public testimony Wednesday, which is expected to focus squarely on Trump's family business. It will also encompass payments made to women who alleged affairs with Trump ahead of the 2016 election, which the attorney, in a deal with federal prosecutors announced last summer, admitted to arranging.
Separately, he will testify behind closed doors to the Senate and House Intelligence committees on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively, in connection with the panels' parallel investigations into Russia's election interference. Cohen's Capitol Hill tour is shaping up to be a significant distraction from Trump's overseas trip to Hanoi, Vietnam, where he will seek to advance denuclearization discussions with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. (Read more)
- Father, we pray for You to expose those behind any false testimony or manipulation of Michael Cohen. We also pray for Michael Cohen, that he may find peace and restoration in a relationship with You.
- You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. (Exodus 20:16)
4. Trump Says 'Signing Summit' With Xi for US-China Deal Possible Soon - Epoch Times
President Donald Trump said on Feb. 25 he may soon sign a deal to end a trade war with Chinese leader Xi Jinping if their countries can bridge remaining differences, saying negotiators were "very, very close" to a deal.
Markets rallied after Trump said on Sunday he would delay an increase in U.S. tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods and extend his March 1 deadline for a deal. Trump's decision avoided another escalation in a trade war between the world's two largest economies. Trump cited progress in the talks as the reason for not raising tariffs further on Chinese goods.
Washington is demanding Beijing change the way it does business with the United States, demanding more access for U.S. companies, enforcement of intellectual property protection and an end to industrial subsidies. (Read more)
- Father, we pray these negotiations will be overseen by Your Spirit and be accomplished in Your timing. Give our team wisdom and creative ways to come into agreement with Kim Jong-Un and the leaders of North Korea.
- With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity. (Proverbs 8:18)
5. Democrats Taking Unprecedented Step to Overturn Trump's Border Emergency Order - CBN News
Congressional Democrats are voting today to overturn President Trump's emergency declaration. The Democrat-controlled House, led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) have made it their top priority since the president issued the declaration that allows him to access federal money to build a border wall.
In a press conference Monday ahead of the vote, House Democratic leadership accused President Trump of trampling on the Constitution, criticizing his decision to use other funds to support his plan. Some Republicans have also questioned President Trump's right to utilize a national emergency to build the wall.
GOP Sens. Thom Tillis (R-NC), Susan Collins (R-ME), and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) have indicated they will vote to block Trump's order. President Trump is prepared to use his first-ever veto to block the measure if it passes. However, the Trump administration wants to avoid that option by encouraging GOP senators to remain faithful to the plan. (Read more)
- Father, we pray President Trump's emergency order will stand, in Congress and in the courts.
- For the Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.
(Psalm 135:14)
6. Nuclear-Armed India and Pakistan Face Off in Renewed Escalation - Bloomberg
It's the biggest escalation between South Asia's nuclear-armed rivals in decades and with a bitterly contested national election in India just weeks away, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was quick to exploit his military's air strikes on a terrorist camp inside Pakistan Tuesday. Speaking to a huge, cheering crowd at an election rally in the state of Rajasthan, Modi twice stated that India was safe hands" and declared it a "glorious day," without explicitly mentioning the attack.
India's fighter jets destroyed a major terrorist camp in Pakistan early Tuesday "in the face of imminent danger," Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said in New Delhi. More than 300 people were killed in the air strikes on militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed, according to an Indian official speaking on condition of anonymity.
Prime Minister Imran Khan's office said Pakistan would respond "at the time and place of its choosing," rejecting India's claim that it had hit a terror camp or inflicted heavy casualties. "Once again the Indian government has resorted to a self-serving, reckless and fictitious claim," a statement from Khan's office said. Facing the first major geopolitical challenge of his term, Khan directed the country's armed forces and the public to "remain prepared for all eventualities." (Read more)
- Father, we pray for a de-escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan. Give their leaders wisdom in how to improve their relationship.
- He who is devoid of wisdom despises his neighbor, but a man of understanding holds his peace. (Proverbs 11:12)
7. Democrats block bill to ensure medical care for abortion survivors - Washington Examiner
Senate Democrats on Monday defeated a GOP attempt to advance legislation that would clarify that babies who survive attempted abortions must receive medical care. Republicans and anti-abortion advocates pushed for the bill, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, to receive a vote so that they could put individual senators on the spot regarding the issue of third-trimester abortion.
The legislation fell short of the 60 votes it needed to advance in a procedural maneuver, 53 to 44. Democrats Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, and Doug Jones of Alabama joined all Republicans present in voting in favor.
The bill that failed Monday would have built on the 2002 Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, which clarified that "every infant member of the species homo sapiens who is born alive at any stage of development" is a "person" for all federal law purposes. That law was intended to clarify that babies were supposed to receive protections if they survived an abortion, and Sasse's bill further clarifies what level of care they are supposed to receive, including being immediately transferred to a hospital. (Read more)
- Father, we pray the killing of newborns will be a dividing line in our nation - and those who support this barbarism will be stripped of all power and authority.
- So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. (Isaiah 59:19)
8. New poll finds drastic increase in Democrats identifying as 'pro-life' in just 1 month - Christian Post
The percentage of Americans who call themselves "pro-life" is now the same as those who consider themselves "pro-choice" as a new poll has found that the number of Democrats who call themselves "pro-life" has drastically increased in the last month.
The new poll conducted by the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion on behalf of the Catholic fraternal organization Knights of Columbus interviewed 1,008 adults across the U.S. While that same poll from January found that only 20 percent of Democrats proclaimed themselves to be pro-life, 34 percent of Democrats identified as "pro-life" in the February polling.
Meanwhile, the number of Democrats identifying as pro-choice dropped from 75 percent in January to 61 percent in February. "The shift in this poll was across the board but most pronounced among two groups: adults under 45 years of age and Democrats," Marist poll director Barbara Carvalho told The Christian Post.
"Given that younger Americans are more likely to identify as Democrat than older adults, this makes sense. The public debate on abortion in the past month has focused on late-term abortion, a policy that many Americans have serious concerns about." (Read more)
- Father, we thank You for hearts and minds changing about the unborn. We pray every abortion clinic in this nation will close, because each parent chooses life!
- I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live (Deuteronomy 30:19)
9. United Methodists reject opening to rites for gays - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
United Methodist delegates on Tuesday rejected a plan that would have provided a local option on whether to ordain or marry gay persons, a vote coming in the dramatic final hours of a four-day session aiming to solve a decades-long debate in the nation's second-largest Protestant denomination.
They voted 438-384 in St. Louis to pass the "Traditionalist Plan" late Tuesday afternoon - a 53-47 percent margin. The Traditionalist Plan upholds the church's longstanding teaching that homosexual practice is "incompatible with Christian teaching" and its bans on same-sex marriages and on any "self-avowed practicing homosexual" in ministry.
The plan - already endorsed by a majority in a procedural vote on Monday - also adds teeth for enforcement. It lists specific penalties for those who defy the bans. Some American churches and clergy have been taking part in marriages and ordinations of gay persons in recent years. This could prove the final word on the subject in terms of worldwide church policy for the foreseeable future. (Read more)
- Father, thank You for hearing our prayers. We pray the leadership of the Methodist church will continue to stand for the clear teaching of scripture regarding marriage and family.
- Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
(1 Corinthians 16:13)
10. After Signing One-World Religion Covenant, Pope Francis Makes His Next Push - Charisma News
Just days after the pope signed the most important interfaith document in history, he had the opportunity to address global political leaders by video at the World Government Summit in Dubai. During his remarks he once again stressed the need for global unity, and he encouraged those attending to embrace "sustainable development", but he also stressed that sustainable development will never succeed without "solidarity".
Of course, most Americans don't even know that a "World Government Summit" even exists because the mainstream media in the U.S. doesn't really talk about it, but it is actually a very big deal. And obviously the pope feels very strongly about what they are trying to do, because he took time out of his very busy schedule to record a video message for them. (Read more)
- Lord God, it is now so obvious that this pope is not serving You, but is instead serving the interests of the New World Order, leading to the establishment of the One World Religion referenced in the Book of Revelation. We pray in the Spirit over this report, in Your name, amen.
- In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God. National emergencies and tyranny
Democratic Party leftist primary presidential candidates Julian Castro (former HUD Secretary under the previous president), and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) both would call national emergencies over climate change and gun violence if elected. Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) also said that gun violence was a national emergency. Senator Corey Booker (D-NJ) indicated he would consider declaring a national emergency on gun violence if elected. Democrats see the national emergency declared by President Donald Trump to protect national security by building a wall on the nation's border with Mexico as a precedent to banning guns, taxing for climate change and student debt.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) warned on February 14 that a president using the National Emergencies Act for such things as building a border wall would be a forerunner for a Democratic president to use the act for political reasons. Pelosi said, "You want to talk about a national emergency? Let's talk about today, the one year anniversary of another manifestation of the epidemic of gun violence in America. That's a national emergency. A Democratic president can declare emergencies as well. So, the precedent that the President is setting here is something that should be met with great unease and dismay by the Republicans."
Castro told MSNBC's "Hardball" on Monday that he wouldn't hesitate to declare a national emergency on gun violence and climate change. Castro said, "If I take office on January 20, 2021, that I will come into office with a strong belief that climate change is a national emergency, that the fact that so many people in this country die because of gun violence, that is a national emergency." The intent of the National Emergencies Act is to allow a president to call a national emergency when the nation's security is in jeopardy. It has checks and balances in it for Congress to act. The language of the Act, however, is ambiguous enough that these communists in the Democratic Party could well make the case for confiscating guns or outrageous taxes for the unproven and fraudulent concept of "climate change."
The idea that our national security is compromised by gun violence is a stretch. The ownership of guns as guaranteed by the 2ndAmendment is protection against the very thing these leftists want to do-take over the government, or as Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) says, "complete that (political) revolution," meaning wealth redistribution by an iron-fisted dictator. Do not be lulled into thinking these people's esoteric ideas are grand because they also have one thing in common-they disdain true Christianity. Given the option of national emergencies, religious freedom would be among the first to go as it is the biggest threat to communism's tyranny. Every socialist and communist nation shuts down religious free speech. As Christ said in John 8:32 of those who are his disciples, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
Have a blessed and powerful day,

Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!
E'en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee.
Refrain
Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer to Thee!
Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down, Darkness be over me, my rest a stone. Yet in my dreams I'd be nearer, my God to Thee.
Refrain
There let the way appear, steps unto Heav'n;
All that Thou sendest me, in mercy given;
Angels to beckon me nearer, my God, to Thee.
Refrain
Then, with my waking thoughts bright with Thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs Bethel I'll raise;
So by my woes to be nearer, my God, to Thee.

Or, if on joyful wing cleaving the sky,
Sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I'll fly.
Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee.

There in my Father's home, safe and at rest,
There in my Savior's love, perfectly blest;
Age after age to be, nearer my God to Thee.

Signs and Wonders
Plague of locusts afflicts Egypt
An enormous swarm of locusts is plaguing Egypt, in a development that agricultural authorities admitted they failed to predict.
Egyptian Agricultural Minister Salah Abad Almoman said the swarm, comprising an estimated 30 million insects, descended on Giza, near southern Cairo, where it is causing great damage.
"The armed forces and the Egyptian border units are trying to battle the swarm with various means at their disposal," Almoman said, according to a report in Maariv, but the report did not detail what action was taken. The minister appealed to local residents to refrain from attempting to deal with the ravenous horde themselves.
"I ask the families living in the area afflicted with the swarm to not light car tires," he said. "It doesn't drive the locusts away, it only causes damage, and it could start a fire that will take human life."
A ministry official said crop-spraying aircraft will be deployed to tackle the insects, which are a seasonal phenomenon in Egypt - albeit not in such large quantities.
Almoman said strong winds predicted for the coming days are expected to blow the insects in the direction of Saudi Arabia and the Red Sea.
Although winds usually take the insects past Israel, in 2004 a large swarm descended on Eilat and the surrounding area. It did not spread to the more fertile areas in the center and north of the country.

The Good News Corner
In the Midst of Turbulent Times, Veteran Christian Artist Michael W. Smith Believes the Church is Uniting as Never Before
[Stream.org] On August 30, 2018, more than 14,000 people gathered at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee for a prayer and worship gathering. Michael W. Smith led songs alongside CeCe Winans, Vanessa Campagna, Madelyn Berry, Mark Gutierrez and others, captured on the new album 'Awaken.'
When a local church hosts a mid-week prayer meeting, often ten or fewer faithful ones show up. Thus, organizers of a Nashville gathering last August were a bit overwhelmed. On a sweltering Thursday evening, more than 14,000 people had come to participate in prayer and worship.
Diverse Believers united at Bridgestone Arena, one of the largest venues in Music City, USA-convened by a singer-songwriter eager to elevate Christ above all. "Unity made that night work," Michael W. Smith tells The Stream in an interview. "The diversity of who came together was absolutely something I had never experienced in my entire life."
Some know Smith as today's most prominent Christian recording artist, having sold 15 million albums since his debut in 1983. Others recall his moving musical tributes performed at the funerals of President George H.W. Bush and evangelist Billy Graham.
