Focus on Israel

1. Iran controls new Lebanese government, Netanyahu tells visiting UN envoys - Times of Israel

Iran controls the new Lebanese government via its proxy Hezbollah group, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday, in his first public comments on the government formed in Beirut last week.

"Iran has proxies. One of them is Hezbollah. Hezbollah just joined the government of Lebanon. That's a misnomer; they actually control the government of Lebanon. It means that Iran controls the government of Lebanon," he told a group of 40 ambassadors to the United Nations.

Netanyahu was briefing the delegation, headed by Israel's UN envoy Danny Danon, just before they headed to Israel's northern border to inspect one of Hezbollah's cross-border attack tunnels.

2. PM Hails Energy 'Revolution' As Leviathan Edges Closer To Completion - Jerusalem Post

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed a "tremendous revolution" in the country's energy independence on Thursday as he marked the arrival of the foundations, also known as jackets, of Noble Energy's offshore Leviathan gas platform.

The enormous metal structure was lowered into the Mediterranean Sea on Wednesday and will be fixed to the seabed by a crane vessel in the coming weeks, approximately 10 km. from Israel's coast. The process is expected to take three weeks.

"The completion of the Leviathan offshore platform and the flow of gas from this field later this year is a critical element in the strategic power of Israel," said Netanyahu, who was accompanied by Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz and Noble Energy vice-president George M. Hatfield during his visit to the site of the future gas rig.

3. Gantz and Lapid Said to Be Launching Unity Talks; Decision Expected Within Two Weeks - Algemeiner

In what could lead to a dramatic change in the Israeli electoral landscape, the leaders of two major centrist parties are in talks to run together on a unified list in the upcoming elections, a leader in one of the parties said on Saturday.

According to Israel's Channel 2, Israel Resilience Party head Benny Gantz and Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid were revealed to be in discussions by Yesh Atid MK Ofer Shelah. "Talks are taking place between Yair Lapid and Benny Gantz," and the results will be announced within two weeks, he said, speaking at a cultural event. "Unification must be based on agreed-upon lines," Shelah added. "We have to take a sober look at the picture."

4. Exclusive: Israel, France in secret talks over access to ancient tombs - Israel Hayom

Israel and France are holding secret talks aimed at opening the ancient compound known as the Tombs of the Kings near the Old City of Jerusalem, Israel Hayom has learned.

The catacomb has been under the administration of the French Consulate in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah for the past 150 years owing to international agreements dating back to the Ottoman period.

Scholars believe the tombs date back to the Second Temple Period. Queen Helena of Adiabene, a convert to Judaism, was believed to have been buried in a special sarcophagus that was found at the site, which was subsequently put on display at Paris' Louvre museum along with other sarcophagi revealed by excavations there.

The French Jewish community along with religious figures in Israel have long asked to obtain access to the site, where according to Jewish tradition Ben Kalba Sabbua - a famous resident of the city during the Roman period - is believed to have been buried.

5. 'It's like building a synagogue in the Muslim Quarter' - YNET News

The renovation of a mosque on the boundary of the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem has local residents worried. They warn that the imminent reopening of the mosque, which lay empty for years, is a provocation that could harm the status quo in the politically fragile neighborhood.

The mosque is located at the entrance to the Jewish Quarter, close to its border with the Armenian Quarter.

"I've been living in this neighborhood for 31 years. We have no problem with the mosque itself, it's been there forever," says Jewish Quarter resident Shoshana Se-Lavan. "But if it resumes operations, it will be a provocation. There are no Arabs living in this area, it's like us building a synagogue in the middle of the Muslim Quarter."

8. ALERT!! Pompeo: Trump to reveal peace plan immediately after Israeli elections - World Israel News

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says that immediately following Israel's April 9 parliamentary election, the Trump administration will build on the foundations already laid towards reaching an Israeli-Palestinian agreement.

"We've been working on this for a long time. We've begun to share elements of this across the region. It won't be a U.S.-driven process," Pompeo said, as he addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Tuesday, speaking by satellite in a video conference.

"Ultimately, the Israelis and the Palestinians will have to come to an agreement. But we think that the foundations that we have laid and the work that we'll do immediately following the Israeli elections will set conditions where we can have a constructive conversation," Pompeo added.

- Father, again we cry out to You that this plan would only fall within the boundaries of Your perfect will, and not that of man. We ask You to "stay the hand of our 'king'," President Donald Trump, from taking any action that would harm or dishonor the nation of Israel, and its God-given borders, amen.

- "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee." (Psalm 122:6)

The Daily Brief

1. Trump to decry 'decades of political stalemate' in State of the Union - The Hill

President Trump is seeking to deliver a bipartisan, optimistic State of the Union address next Tuesday despite the divisive political atmosphere in Washington fueled by the threat of another government shutdown, according to his staff.

The theme of Trump's address is "Choosing Greatness" and the president will urge Congress to compromise on a number of key issues such as immigration and trade, according to a senior administration official who briefed reporters on the speech.

"Together we can break decades of political stalemate, we can bridge old divisions, heal old wounds, build new coalitions, forge new solutions and unlock the extraordinary promise of America's future. The decision is ours to make," Trump will say, according the official who read the quote aloud. (Read more)

- Father God, we pray that you speak to President Trump so that everything that needs to be addressed will be brought forth with clarity and assurance in the State of the Union Address. In the Name of Jesus and by His Shed Blood, we bind and break every demonic entity in Congress and we set these members in agreement with the President. In the Name of Jesus we pray.

- "And whatsoever things that you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive." (Mathew 21:22)

2. Largest Fentanyl Drug Bust In History Made As Truck Tried Crossing The Southern Border - Daily Caller

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol seized enough fentanyl to kill over 50 million people from a truck that was trying to cross the southern border into the United States, according to an investigation by "Tucker Carlson Tonight."

"We got our hands on an internal memo from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol that details this bust. The biggest fentanyl seizure in U.S. history," Fox News Correspondent Hillary Vaughn began. "According to the memo, four days ago in Nogales, Arizona, at the port of entry, CBP officers stopped a tractor-trailer crossing the U.S.-Mexico border into the U.S. with enough fentanyl to kill 57 million people. That's plenty of fatal dose to wipe out the entire populations of Texas, Arizona and New York state combined."

They found this under the floor of the trailer. They found 114 kilograms of fentanyl. They also grabbed 179 kg of methamphetamine. The street value for the fentanyl was over $102 million. The CBP officers arrested the smuggler, a Mexican national who attempted to drive the drugs across the border. The suspect was a part of the DHS's trusted traveler program called FAST, that stands for free and secure trade for commercial vehicles. (Read more)

- Father God, we offer You praise that this truck was apprehended, and this drug shipment seized, saving the lives of 57 million American citizens. We praise You, O God, amen and amen!

- "But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off." (Psalm 3:38)

3. Trump Revisits Possibility of Declaring Emergency at Border: 'The Wall Will Be Built One Way or Another' - Free Beacon

President Donald Trump expressed optimism Friday that his border wall is going forward and will be built despite Congress not providing funds. After calling border wall negotiations with Democrats a "waste of time," the president went on to say he's figuring out how to build border barriers without Congress's cooperation.

"We're building a lot of wall right now as we speak, and we're renovating a lot of wall, and we're getting ready to give out some very big contracts with money that we have on hand and money that comes in. But we will be looking at a national emergency, because I don't think anything is going to happen," Trump said. (Read more)

- Father God, if President Trump announces that we are in a state of National Emergency, so that this wall can be built, we ask that he find favor with the members of Congress and with the American people in doing so. Guide President Trump every step of the way. In the Name of Jesus we pray.

- "A fire goes before him, and burns up his enemies round about. His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled." (Psalm 97:8-9)

4. Dem Reps. Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, Omar Propose Slashing Homeland Security Funds - Restoring Liberty

A group of newly elected far-left congresswomen want to slash funding to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the primary U.S. agency tasked with border security.

"Cut, do not increase funding" to the DHS, reads a bolded section of a "Dear Colleague" letter that was obtained Thursday by The Daily Beast. The four-member letter is signed by socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., anti-Semitic, pro-Islamist Reps. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass.

In justifying their proposal, the group claims that "a number of agencies housed at DHS have abused their authority and the fidelity of public resources. Funds are being allocated internally not to make our nation safer, but to build desert camps to inhumanely house infants and to prosecute immigrants who are part of the fabric of our community," the memo claims. - Father God, we take up the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and we cancel this effort to defund the Department of Homeland Security. We ask You to forgive these four women for their evil deeds, for they know not what they do. In Your Name, amen.

- "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34)

5. The Abortion Agenda: Its Benefactors & What You Don't Know - Washington Standard

Pay very close attention, because there is a lot more going on with the abortion agenda than meets the eye. In 1993, the Clinton Foundation, Planned Parenthood, Partners in Health, and many others, set out to train nurses and midwives throughout the world, to beef up access to abortions. They have been receiving taxpayer funding for decades. They have pushed the laws to the extreme, to where babies can be aborted moments before taking their first breath out of the womb. Fetal tissue and body parts have been sold.

In 2012, they turned their focus to the Caribbean, and in 2019, they have turned their focus to the United States of America. New York's 'Reproductive Health Act' brought shock and awe to the entire country, by legalizing full-term abortions, and decriminalizing it. As barbaric as this all is, no one seems to be focused on the nurses and midwives' addition to this bill, who coincidentally have been trained by the Clinton Health Access Initiative, Partners in Health, Planned Parenthood, and the Ivy League schools, for over two decades.

While everyone is still trying to catch their breath, the reality of what lies ahead, may unfortunately include unthinkable, sinister acts. Based on past events, actions, and evidence of fetal tissue and body parts being sold, new "youth" blood clinics opening their doors, and prior experimentation on prison babies, it's time to wake from the shock, and pay very close attention. This is both a physical and spiritual battle - armor up. (Read more)

- O righteous Father, little do all these people know the fate that they will reap at the end of their lives. Unless they repent and turn from their wicked ways, Scripture promises that they will join satan in a lake of fire throughout eternity, world without end. The human baby blood that is on their hands will follow them to the Great White Throne Judgment where they will give an account of all their wicked deeds. God stop them. In the Name of Jesus we pray, asking forgiveness for their sins, amen.

- "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that which he has done, whether it be good or bad." ( 2 Corinthians 5:10)

6. Justice Alito blocks Louisiana abortion law, citing need for more time - Washington Examiner

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has temporarily blocked abortion restrictions in Louisiana from going into effect, pushing off the question for another week as to whether the high court will soon be forced to weigh in on the issue. Alito stayed the law until Feb. 7, saying that filings were only completed on Friday and that justices needed more time to review them.

"This order does not reflect any view regarding the merits of the petition for a writ of certiorari that applicants represent they will file," Alito said. The justice has jurisdiction over the 5th Circuit, and can therefore act alone on the case, but may refer it to the full court to make a final determination.

The Louisiana law requires doctors who provide abortions to have admitting privileges at a local hospital in case anything goes wrong during an abortion. The Supreme Court in 2016 struck down similar laws in Texas in Whole Woman's Health v. Hellerstedt, but the 5th Circuit upheld Louisiana's law. (Read more)

- Almighty God, impress Judge Alito to vote to preserve life and be compassionate toward the girls aborting their babies. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

- "For the Son of man shall come in the glory of His Father with His angels; and then He shall reward every man according to his works." (Matthew 16:27)

7. NARAL, Planned Parenthood Call On Northam To Resign - Daily Caller

Abortion groups are calling on Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam to resign after photos of blackface and a KKK costume emerged in his college yearbook Friday. The National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws (NARAL) and Planned Parenthood both called on Northam to resign Friday night because of a photo that appeared to depict him and another man posing in a KKK outfit and blackface.

Earlier this week, Northam generated controversy when he appeared to suggest post-birth abortion as a reasonable alternative to an unwanted child. When he made the comments during a radio show Wednesday, Northam was defending a proposed bill in the Virginia House of Delegates that would legalize abortion up until birth.

Democratic Virginia Del. Kathy Tran submitted the bill, which NARAL supported. Northam was elected as the governor of Virginia in 2017. He obtained the endorsements and financial support of pro-choice groups such as NARAL, Planned Parenthood and Emily's List. After he defeated Republican nominee Ed Gillespie in a landslide election, NARAL released a statement congratulating Northam. (Read more)

- Lord God, Your ways are past finding out. We are grieved that our own governor, here in the State of Virginia, has such a hidden secret; but we thank You that You are a God of justice, and of mercy.

We ask only for Your will to be done in his life, and that this episode not be used by the evil one to fan the flames of racism in America, but rather to be used as an instrument of further dialogue and healing. Help us, O Lord, we pray, amen.

- "For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light." (Mark 4:22)

8. Pennsylvania Democrats rocked by indictment of top political boss - Politico

The bombshell charges announced Wednesday against building trades leader John "Johnny Doc" Dougherty - a Philadelphia labor kingpin whose union is the single biggest independent source of campaign funding in the state - threaten to sap statehouse and congressional Democrats of a mega-donor, slow the party's momentum in the Philadelphia suburbs, and sideline the man who orchestrated the Democratic takeover of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. That court radically redrew the state's congressional map last year, leading to the Democratic pickup of a handful of congressional seats in November.

It's hard to overstate Dougherty's power in Pennsylvania: His union's heavy purse and legendary get-out-the-vote operation helped elect congressmen, governors, judges, mayors, state legislators, and city council members. A few years before the nation's high-stakes midterm elections, the union's deep pockets helped put three justices on the state Supreme Court, including Dougherty's brother, Kevin.

Dougherty was charged with embezzlement, bribery, and theft in a 116-count indictment that alleged he and others stole more than $600,000 in union funds and repeatedly strong-armed public and private officials with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. Several top lieutenants in his union's political operation were also charged. (Read more)

- Father, what might seem to be a minor headline in the news this week is actually an earthquake in the world of Democratic power. We call for justice in this case, and a blessing now for the citizens of the State of Pennsylvania, in Your name, amen.

- "Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man you shall not go: Lest you learn his ways and get a snare to your soul." (Proverbs 22:24-25)

9. US pulling out of Cold War-era arms control treaty with Russia, Pompeo says - Fox News

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced Friday that the U.S. is pulling out of a major arms-control treaty with Russia. Citing alleged violations by Russia regarding the pact that's been a centerpiece of arms control since the Cold War, Pompeo said the U.S. is suspending its obligations and will terminate the deal entirely if Russia does not return to full compliance in six months.

He said the U.S. "has fully adhered" to the pact for more than 30 years, "but we will not remain constrained by its terms while Russia misrepresents its actions. We cannot be the only country in the world unilaterally bound by this treaty, or any other."

The American withdrawal had been expected. It follows years of unresolved disputes over Russian compliance with the 1987 pact, known as the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces, or INF, treaty. Russia denies that it has been in violation. (Read more)

- Almighty God, we thank You for guiding President Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to pull out of this major arms-control treaty with Russia. Strengthen the stand of America and remove our pact with the Russians. Expose all evil that the Russians have done and hold them accountable to pay back what they have lied about. In the Name of Jesus.

- "The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together; the Lord of hosts musters the host of the battle". (Isaiah 13:4)

10. China Opposes U.S. Withdrawal From Missile Treaty to Keep Advantage - Free Beacon

China is opposed to the United States' withdrawal from the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty while refusing to join the arms accord to avoid limiting its large missile forces, according to a congressional report. "Implicit in this position is a recognition that limits on the United States and Russia that do not constrain China advantage Beijing," the report says.

In contrast to the ban on U.S. and Russian intermediate-range missiles, "remaining outside the pact has allowed China to rapidly expand its missile arsenal as part of a military strategy designed to counter U.S. and allied military power in Asia," states a staff report by the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission made public this week.

Disclosure of the INF report on China comes as Beijing for the first time disclosed the mobilization and test firing of one of its newest intermediate-range missiles, the DF-26, on Jan. 9. China has dubbed the missile the "Guam killer" because it can target the key U.S. military base in the South Pacific. (Read more)

- Almighty God, we pray that the United States withdraws from this Missile Treaty and that China is penalized for all the unlawful acts they have committed. Take China out of its lead position we pray, In Jesus' Name, amen.

- "This know also that in the last days perilous times shall come. Men shall be truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, from such turn away." (II Timothy 3:2-5)

11. Trump says he'll meet with China's Xi after trade talks end with no deal - Fox News

President Donald Trump expects to meet with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to try to resolve a six-month trade standoff after U.S. and Chinese negotiators ended two days of talks Thursday without settling the toughest issues that divide the world's two biggest economies.

The White House said in a statement that the two sides had made progress but that "much work remains to be done." In the meantime, the administration said it would keep a "hard deadline" of March 2, at which point it would escalate import taxes on $200 billion in Chinese good if there was no deal.

At the heart of the conflict is the U.S. demand that Beijing stop taking predatory actions -- from intellectual theft to the forced handover of technology by U.S. companies -- in a drive to become a global power in such fields as robotics and electric cars. The Trump administration also complains that Beijing unfairly subsidizes its own tech companies. (Read more)

- - Righteous Father in heaven, protect President Trump in his association with China. God, hold China firm to the March 2 deadline with regard to import taxes on $200 billion in Chinese goods. Cause that nation to be held accountable for all of its wicked business practices against our people. In Jesus' name, we pray, amen.

- "To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him." (Jude 15)

Lou Engle Alert: Mandatory Court Appearance

The Briefing: Jan. 31, 2019

Mandatory Court Appearance

This week the U.S. Supreme Court was petitioned by two abortion doctors in Louisiana to block a new state law that will otherwise go into effect this coming Monday. The abortionists are asking for an emergency stay while they make an appeal. The Law at issue, Act 620, requires abortion providers to obtain admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of their clinic. This will necessitate the closing of one of Louisiana's three abortion clinics.

Not long ago, an identical law was passed in Texas, but it was subsequently overruled by the Supreme Court in 2016. This time, we have new judges on the bench.
Their decision - possibly within the next 24 hours - will not only have an immediate impact on the abortion industry in Louisiana, but it will also give the other states an indication of whether this new Court is ready for Roe V. Wade to begin to be challenged.
Bob Jones warned us years ago that even after getting the right judges in the court, we must not stop praying for them. He expounded on 1 Timothy 2:1-2, explaining how the demonic realm is consistently warring for influence over the men and women in these seats of government. Intercession is needed to maintain the influence of heaven over their lives. The reality is that for God's justice to prevail in our nation we need a praying remnant presiding in the heavenly court above the Supreme Court.
Along these lines, Chris Berglund had a dream a few nights ago in which a number of God's people were being summoned to a "mandatory court appearance." He recognized many of their faces and knew they had served in the heavenly courts before as intercessors for the ending of abortion. In the dream it was now time for the ten sons of Haman to be brought to justice and hung on the gallows (Esther 9:8-10). For these intercessors to gain the inheritance they had labored for over the years, they needed to see it through to the end.
Also in Chris' dream, he was aware of an evil entity that was aligned with the partaking of the body and blood of the children. In contrast, those who took communion, agreeing with the broken body and shed blood of Jesus, had power over this evil one.

In response to this dream, and knowing that the greatest weapon against darkness is the blood of Jesus, we urge you to gather to the communion table today. Let's take time to decree the word of the Lord and the influence of the King over the Supreme Court judges - particularly Justices Roberts, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh - that they will align with the God of Justice.

Assigning the blame to advance socialism

With the media firmly in their pocket, Democratic Party leaders have successfully blamed President Donald Trump for shutting down the government. Isn't it interesting how if a Democratic President shuts down the government the Republicans get the blame; if a Democratic led Congress shuts down the government the Republicans get the blame; and if the Republicans shut down the government, the Republicans get the blame. It's a great gig for the liberals, especially when they have the liberal media agreeing with them. There is no win for a Republican when the government shuts down. In this visceral environment of obstruction and revolution, everybody loses, especially as socialism advances.

It is the Democratic Party that wants free healthcare, free education, free food, a minimum national salary, free abortions, free and open borders, and taxes to control the climate. These cost taxpayers billions upon billions of dollars. Instead of pulling people up, they push people down to the lowest levels. Yet, if someone asks for something that is far less costly, would protect citizens, reduce crime, and aid in the national security at a fraction of the cost of their precious programs, those making the ask get the blame for all the woes of the world. This is class warfare. It is the pitting of citizens against one another. It is socialism progressing to communism, and it is happening before our very eyes. Disaster awaits.

William Bradford described the Pilgrim's failed socialist experiment of The Virginia Company Charter in "Of Plymouth Plantation": "The experience that was had in this common course and condition, tried sundry years and amongst godly and sober men, may well evince the vanity of that conceit of Plato's and other ancients applauded by some of later times; that the taking away of property and bringing in community into a commonwealth would make them happy and flourishing, as if they were wiser than God." Bradford was familiar with Plato's "Republic" espousing a utopian society under socialism. In ending this experiment that nearly cost the colony their lives, Bradford wrote: "God in his wisdom saw another course fitter for them." This was the first capitalist system and the Plymouth colony then prospered.

Even many Christians believe in socialism, citing Acts 2:44, "And all that believed were together and had (shared) all things in common." There is a tremendous difference between voluntarily sharing and being forced to share the fruits of your labor by the government. Socialism has its roots in communism. The Communist Manifesto requires that all religion and morals be abolished; that government replaces God. All wealth is redistributed so that everyone has the same-everyone would be forced to pay for the student loans, healthcare, rent and wages of others. This is a far cry from the blessing of voluntarily sharing with others. The first commandment, Exodus 20:1 says, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." That includes government. Moreover, Bradford is still right. Man is not wiser than God. Young people would be wise to heed his advice.

Have a blessed and powerful day,

Classic Hymns

ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS NAME

"Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:9-11)

Lyrics

All hail the power of Jesus' name! Let angels prostrate fall; Bring forth the royal diadem, And crown Him Lord of all. Bring forth the royal diadem, And crown Him Lord of all.

Let highborn seraphs tune the lyre, And as they tune it, fall Before His face who tunes their choir, And crown Him Lord of all. Before His face who tunes their choir, And crown Him Lord of all.

Crown Him, ye morning stars of light, Who fixed this floating ball; Now hail the strength of Israel's might, And crown Him Lord of all. Now hail the strength of Israel's might, And crown Him Lord of all.

Crown Him, ye martyrs of your God, Who from His altar call; Extol the Stem of Jesse's rod, And crown Him Lord of all. Extol the Stem of Jesse's rod, And crown Him Lord of all.

Ye seed of Israel's chosen race, Ye ransomed from the fall, Hail Him who saves you by His grace, And crown Him Lord of all. Hail Him who saves you by His grace, And crown Him Lord of all.

Hail Him, ye heirs of David's line, Whom David Lord did call, The God incarnate, Man divine, And crown Him Lord of all, The God incarnate, Man divine, And crown Him Lord of all.

Sinners, whose love can ne'er forget The wormwood and the gall, Go spread your trophies at His feet, And crown Him Lord of all. Go spread your trophies at His feet, And crown Him Lord of all.

Let every tribe and every tongue Before Him prostrate fall And shout in universal song The crownèd Lord of all. And shout in universal song The crownèd Lord of all.

O that, with yonder sacred throng, We at His feet may fall, Join in the everlasting song, And crown Him Lord of all, Join in the everlasting song, And crown Him Lord of all!

Melody: Oliver Holden, 1793

About the Hymn:

Rev. E. P. Scott, while labouring in India, saw on the street one of the strangest looking heathen his eyes had ever lit upon. On inquiry he found that he was a representative of one of the inland tribes that lived away in the mountain districts and that came down once a year to trade. Upon further investigation he found that the Gospel had never been preached to them and that it was dangerous to venture among them because of their murderous tendencies. He was stirred with much desire to break unto them the Bread of Life. He went to his lodging-place, fell upon his knees and pleaded for Divine direction. Arising, he packed his valise, took his violin with which he was accustomed to sing and his pilgrim staff, and started in the direction of the Macedonian cry.

As he bade his fellow missionaries farewell, they said, We shall never see you again. It is madness for you to go. For two days he travelled, scarcely meeting a human being, until at last he found himself in the mountains surrounded by a crowd of savages. Every spear was pointed at his heart. Not knowing of any other resource he tried the power of singing the name of Jesus to them. Drawing forth his violin he began with closed eyes:

All hail the power of Jesus name! etc.

Afraid to open his eyes he sang on till the third verse, and while singing this verse-

Let every kindred, every tribe, etc.-

he opened his eyes to see what they were going to do, when, lo! the spears had dropped from their hands and the big tears were falling from their eyes. They afterwards invited him to their homes, an invitation gladly accepted. He spent two years and a half amongst them. His labours were greatly blessed, and he had so won upon their affections that when he was compelled to leave on account of impaired health for this country, they followed him for thirty miles. O missionary, they said, come back to us again. He has gone back and there is labouring still.

Loud booms reported in the Chicago-area could be frost quakes

January 31, 2019

Did you hear loud booms or banging sounds overnight in Chicagoland? Those sounds might have been cryoseisms, or frost quakes.

So, here's how a frost quake happens:

First, the ground has to be saturated with water, like it is in the Chicago-area right now with all the snow.

When there's a sudden drop in temperature, the water freezes and expands. The expansion and pressure build up causes stress on the frozen soil and rocks around it, and creates a boom noise.

When WGN first posted about frost quakes on social media, tons of comments poured in from our viewers about hearing them.

"I thought I was crazy! I was up all night because I kept hearing it," said viewer Chastity Clark Baker on Facebook. "I was scared and thought it was the furnace. I kept walking through the house. I had everyone's jackets on the table in case we had to run out of here." (WGN) Read more.

The Good News Corner

Border Control Makes Massive Bust:
57 Million Americans Could Have Died

The men and women who are protecting our borders have just done something amazing. They have stopped a massive shipment that could have killed millions of people.

"A Mexican national was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents on Saturday with enough fentanyl to kill 57 million Americans. The fentanyl seizure was a record amount, officials said in a news release," wrote Fox News.

The suspect was found in possession of the 114 kilograms of fentanyl, including pills. He was also in possession of methamphetamine. It was wonderful to see the border agents stop this awful crime! It could have had a major, and deadly, impact on so many people.

About CHPP

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
