1. IDF believes Iran pulling forces in Syria away from Israel border due to strikes - Times of Israel

Israel's campaign of airstrikes in Syria has driven Iran to change tack in the country, moving the bulk of its troops and bases away from the Israeli border and toward what it sees as a safer location closer to Iraq, according to Military Intelligence assessments released Wednesday.

At the same time, the report said Iran appears to be adopting a more aggressive stance toward Israel, as evident by its launch of a missile into the northern Golan Heights last month, in response to a reported strike by the Israel Defense Forces. While most troops are being moved away, some pro-Iranian forces remain on the border with Israel and have established observation posts from which they can monitor Israeli military activities.

The intelligence report said Iran's inclination to retaliate against Israeli airstrikes appears to be buoyed by the Syrian military's recent acquisition of advanced Russian S-300 air defense batteries. The IDF does not believe Syrian troops have yet been fully trained to operate the powerful anti-aircraft system, but the military is prepared to destroy it the first time an S-300 battery fires at Israeli aircraft - despite the potential diplomatic blowback from Moscow, which gave Damascus the system.

2. Hezbollah has plans for Israel on the Golan - YNET News

While Hamas attempts to incrementally turn up the heat in the riots among Israel's Gaza border, the "Palestinian night squads" have resumed their evening protests along the security fence, disrupting the Israel Defense Forces' routine activity. But Israel had better pay attention to the emerging reality on its Syria border in the Golan Heights where Hezbollah has been attempting to tighten its grip exactly as it did four years ago.

According to Syrian reports, IDF tanks on Monday evening fired artillery rounds at "a demolished hospital" in Syria's southern Quneitra province near the border with Israel, causing material damage. It was also reported that Israel hit a military observation post in the border village of Jabta Elhashab. Some reports say the post belonged to "local activists," but it more likely belonged to Hezbollah, which is trying to regain its hold in the Syrian Golan Heights.

While the IDF maintained a policy of ambiguity over Monday's strike, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did confirm that Israel had attacked Iranian targets in Syria, just he assumed responsibility for previous attacks over the few past weeks.

3. Justice Minister Shaked Says Israel Open to Reconstruction-for-Demilitarization Deal in Gaza - Algemeiner

Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked said on Tuesday that Israel was willing to help reconstruct the Gaza Strip in exchange for full demilitarization of the Hamas-ruled coastal enclave.

Co-leader of the recently-formed New Right party, which touts itself as a joint secular-religious venture, Shaked spoke in English to an audience of Anglo-Israelis in a question-and-answer event at the Tel Aviv Port. Asked about the New Right's position on the ongoing conflict with Hamas, Shaked replied, "First of all, we have always said that we are ready to do reconstruction in return for disarmament, demilitarization." "But in reality, we just can't do it," she said, "because Hamas is a terror organization and they are not willing to do it."

4. Saudi Prince Turki to Israeli TV: Netanyahu deceiving Israel about peace chances - Times of Israel

In an unprecedented interview with an Israeli TV station broadcast Wednesday, the former Saudi intelligence chief and ex-ambassador to the US and UK accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of deceiving the Israeli public by claiming that Israeli ties with the wider Arab world can be warmed without the Palestinian issue being solved.

"Israeli public opinion should not be deceived into believing that the Palestinian issue is a dead issue," Prince Turki bin Faisal Al Saud told Israel's Channel 13 news in a lengthy interview in London. "From the Israeli point of view, Mr. Netanyahu would like us to have a relationship, and then we can fix the Palestinian issue. From the Saudi point of view, it's the other way around." Asked by interviewer Barak Ravid whether that meant Netanyahu was "deceiving the Israeli public" by claiming to be able to "promote relations with the Arab world regardless of the Palestinians," Prince Turki replied: "Absolutely. Absolutely."

5. Arab Leader Lauds 'New Era' in Relations with Israel at Mideast Summit - United With Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received a warm welcome from Oman's foreign minister, Yusuf bin Alawi, at a major Mideast conference in Poland that started Wednesday.

The summit provides Netanyahu an opportunity to showcase Israel's improved relations with Gulf Arab nations.

Several Gulf dignitaries are expected to attend in a potential show of force against uninvited Iran, with the Palestinians urging a boycott of the conference. The United States and Poland are sponsoring the conference in Warsaw, which is officially aimed at promoting peace and security in Mideast, but appears to be focused on isolating Iran.

The Daily Brief

1. Poll: Media's All-Out Assault on Trump Only Hurts Trust in Journalists - Breitbart

Polling proves that public trust in the establishment media has collapsed in every imaginable way during Trump's presidency. An IBD/TIPP poll asked about "the public's perception of the mainstream news media" and found that "fully half the country says its trust in the media decreased over the past two years."

In worse news (for the media), more than two-thirds of the public, a whopping 69 percent, believe the establishment media are "more concerned with advancing its points of view rather than reporting all the facts." What's more, nearly half (43 percent) of Democrats agree with that statement, along with an incredible 72 percent of Independents and 95 percent of Republicans.

When asked if media coverage is designed to "delegitimize the views held by President Trump and his supporters," nearly six in ten (59 percent) agreed, including 60 percent of Independents and 93 percent of Republicans. If there is one takeaway from this poll, it is that the public now sees through the media and that establishment pundits and reporters have lost all of their moral authority.

2. More of Trump's private schedules leak as West Wing hunts down source - Washington Examiner

President Trump's private schedules were leaked for a second time in a week on Sunday, highlighting what appears to be an act of defiance as the White House frantically investigates who might be behind the breach.

Axios reported it obtained four more days of Trump's schedules from last week, showing the president spent nearly half his time in unstructured "Executive Time," which is time during which nothing is planned in advance. Last Sunday, the outlet published three months' worth of the president's private itinerary.

Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney confirmed to Fox News on Sunday that an internal hunt for the source of the leak is underway, saying they are "hoping to have a resolution" this week. Should the West Wing ever narrow down the source of the latest round of leaks, there may yet be some challenges. "When you find that person or persons, and it's likely going to be a career staffer, you're going to learn a lot about how hard it is to fire federal workers," Mulvaney said.

- Lord of Hosts, we pray You would give Chief of Staff Mulvaney wisdom to understand exactly who is releasing this information and remove them from their position.

- Moreover, the Lord made it known to me and I knew it; then You showed me their deeds. (Jeremiah 11:18)

3. 9th Circuit Sides With Trump On Environmental Waivers For Border Wall - Conservative Media

The state of California and several environmental groups sued President Donald Trump and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in September 2017 to stop construction of a border wall prototype and ongoing repairs to 14 miles of an existing barrier in San Diego.

The 9th Circuit's three-judge panel ruled 2-1 in favor of the federal government. The dissenting judge, Consuelo Callahan, wrote she supported the Trump administration's argument, but thought the court lacked jurisdiction to review California's appeal.

The DHS waived provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act and the Coastal Zone Management Act in 2017, expediting approval to begin construction of the border wall prototype and repairs.

4. Trump: Border wall money will come from 'other sources' - Washington Examiner

President Trump said Tuesday night that he'll find sources of money for his border wall other than Congress, which has reached a tentative deal to give him $1.375 billion for border barriers. Trump's message is the latest sign that he's ready to drop his fight with Congress this year and find ways to draw existing money in the federal government toward his border wall project.

Lawmakers agreed Monday night to give Trump $1.375 billion for the border wall, far short of the $5.7 billion he was seeking. But the deal in Congress, and Trump's apparent willingness to sign it, means they are all likely to allow the proposal to become law by Friday, the deadline by which dozens of departments and agencies need to be funded again. Failure to act by Friday would throw the government into another partial government shutdown.

5. Ted Cruz: Take El Chapo's $14 Billion in Seized Drug Profits and Use It to Build the Wall - CNS News

Shortly after a federal jury in New York on Tuesday found the notorious Mexican drug lord known as "El Chapo" guilty of drug trafficking, weapons violations and other counts, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) drew attention to his pending legislation to have the gangster's seized assets used to secure the Southwest border, "including the completion of a wall."

Once Joaquin Guzmán Lorea, the former leader of the Sinaloa drug [cartel], is sentenced - sentencing scheduled for June 25 and he faces mandatory life in prison - the federal government will seek a judgment making forfeit "billions of dollars constituting the cartel's illegal drug-trafficking proceeds," the Department of Justice confirmed on Tuesday.

"Fourteen billion dollars will go a long way to secure our southern border, and hinder the illegal flow of drugs, weapons, and individuals," he said at the time. "By leveraging any criminally forfeited assets of El Chapo and other murderous drug lords, we can offset the cost of securing our border and make meaningful progress toward delivering on the promises made to the American people."(Read more)

- Father, we thank You for answering our prayers regarding "El Chapo" and his ill-gotten gain. We pray this legislation to use those assets to secure our border will be approved by Congress and be signed by President Trump.

6. Union leaders warn Green New Deal may lead to poverty: 'Members are worried about putting food on the table' - FoxNews

Labor unions are warning that the "Green New Deal" proposed by Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is vague and potentially dangerous, signaling that the progressive proposal may be in for even more turbulence following a rocky rollout last week.

The pushback from union leaders indicates that the progressive proposal has not won over a core element of the liberal base. Speaking to Reuters, a spokesman for the coal industry union United Mine Workers (UMWA) specifically took umbrage at the Green New Deal's resolution's call for a "fair and just transition for all communities and workers" in order to "achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions" in the span of just ten years.

"We've heard words like 'just transition' before, but what does that really mean?" the spokesman, Phil Smith, said in an interview. "Our members are worried about putting food on the table." UMWA, which includes approximately 80,000 members, represents not only coal miners and clean coal technicians, but also manufacturing workers, health care workers, and corrections officers in both the U.S. and Canada.

7. House Judiciary Committee hires lawyers who have written case for Trump impeachment - CNN

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, a New York Democrat, has hired two legal consultants who have advocated for the impeachment or possible indictment of President Donald Trump for obstructing justice.

The House Judiciary Committee announced Tuesday it was hiring former Obama administration lawyer and ethics watchdog Norm Eisen and high-powered criminal defense attorney Barry Berke as special oversight counsels for the committee, where they will help craft the panel's plans to investigate the President and his administration.

The new hires are the latest sign of House Democrats ramping up to probe every part of Trump's life, from his personal finances to his businesses to his 2016 presidential campaign. They also signal that Nadler is thinking about the possibility his committee could pursue impeachment proceedings against the President, even if he hasn't decided to take that step yet.

Eisen is already working on a case related to the core of what Congress may investigate. He's among the team assisting the state attorneys general of Maryland and the District of Columbia as they challenge Trump's connection to his Trump International Hotel in Washington. The state attorneys general contest the President has received illegal payments from foreign governments and other states because his ties with his company were never completely severed.

Eisen is board chairman for the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, which he co-founded. He served in the Obama White House as special counsel for ethics and government reform. Eisen also worked for CNN as a political commentator. He is no longer a contributor. (Read more)

- Father, we ask You to protect President Trump, his family and associates from Congressional harassment. We lift up the House Judiciary Committee, Norm Eisen, Barry Berke, and their staff members and pray Your perfect will be done.

- Do not let those who are wrongfully my enemies rejoice over me; Nor let those who hate me without cause wink maliciously. (Psalm 35:19)

Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations. (Psalm 27:12)

8. Devin Nunes: 'Many' People Will Be Criminally Referred to DOJ After William Barr Confirmed - Breitbart

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, told Fox News Channel Host Sean Hannity Tuesday evening that "many" people who lied to investigators will be criminally referred to the Justice Department after attorney general nominee William Barr is confirmed.

Sean Hannity asked, "Aren't there a list of well-known people that served in the Obama administration that lied under oath? Represenative Nunes replied, I am expecting people to be held accountable. If you're going to bust people for lying to Congress, then we need to bust everyone for lying to Congress. Look, we're just the House side. My guess is on the Senate side there are many people that some of the same people probably lied over there, so they should also be doing the same." (Read more)

- Father, we pray for equal justice under the law, just as our Constitution decrees. We are a nation of laws and not of men.

- For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. (Matthew 7:2)

9. DC District Court Hands Trump's EPA A Major Victory Over Environmentalists - Daily Caller

The District of Columbia District Court granted the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) petition to dismiss legal action against a policy to prohibit scientists from receiving agency funding while sitting on advisory boards. EPA issued the policy directive in 2017 under former Administrator Scott Pruitt.

Judge Trevor McFadden ruled against environmental groups, led by Physicians for Social Responsibility, and agreed to dismiss all four counts leveled against EPA's ethics policy. McFadden ruled EPA had "broad discretion to shape advisory committee membership" and can, if it wants, bar scientists from serving on advisory boards while taking agency funding.

Supporters of EPA's ethics policy were happy with McFadden's ruling, including Steve Milloy, publisher of JunkScience.com. For years, Milloy pushed to stop EPA advisory boards from letting members also take money from the agency. Milloy's past research has found that scientists and experts sitting on just one Obama administration EPA advisory board collected $192 million in agency grants in recent decades. Milloy, an environmental policy expert, said this could unduly influence advisers tasked with evaluating EPA regulations.

- Father, thank You for this ruling that removes a source of systemic corruption at the EPA. We pray future regulatory decisions at the EPA will be based on valid, impartial scientific studies.

10. Former US counterintelligence agent allegedly spied on colleagues to help out Iran, indictment reveals - FoxNews

An ex-counterintelligence agent who defected to Iran in 2013 helped the Islamic Republic in "targeting her former fellow agents" and exposed a Defense Department program considered one of the crown jewels of U.S. intelligence, according to an explosive indictment unsealed Wednesday in Washington, D.C.

An arrest warrant is now out for Monica Elfriede Witt, the 39-year-old former agent named in the grand jury indictment. The Justice Department says the Iranian government supplied her with housing and computer equipment so she could "disclose U.S. classified information" and conduct research on "personnel that she had known and worked with" during her time in the American intelligence community.

"The alleged actions of Monica Witt in assisting a hostile nation are a betrayal of our nation's security, our military, and the American people," said Special Agent Terry Phillips of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. "While violations like this are extremely rare, her actions as alleged are an affront to all who have served our great nation." During her time working with the U.S. government, Witt, the Justice Department says, was "granted high-level security clearances and was deployed overseas to conduct classified counterintelligence missions."

- Father, we pray this indictment will reveal other individuals involved in betraying our nation to Iran.

Who is going to pay?

Wednesday, February 13, 2019 Many of you may not be aware that the national debt is setting records by the second. In the time it takes to write this sentence, the national debt has risen some $200,000. It stands a little over $22 trillion--$66,998 per citizen and $179,805 per taxpayer. The US workforce is 156.8 million, but there are 94.9 million not in the workforce. There are 158.3 million people receiving some form of government benefits, including 37 million on food stamps. In other words, national debt is nearly $180,000 per taxpayer (someone who is generating income, ie. working) and there are over 10 million more people receiving government benefits than are working. We have become a socialist state in dire financial condition.

These figures are found on the US National Debt Clock as provided by various government agencies. We are in great trouble as a nation. Even though the government has mandated that everyone must buy insurance, there are still 27.5 million people without insurance. The debt, according to the US Department of Treasury, jumped more than $30 billion in just the last month. I remember in the 1980s, the news media was busting on the Reagan Administration for adding $1.86 trillion to the national debt, raising the defense budget by 35% which brought a huge peace dividend when the cold war ended. Hardly a word was reported with the immediate past "president" raising the debt by nearly $8.6 trillion.

Judd Gregg and Edward Rendell, co-chairmen of the nonpartisan Campaign to Fix the Debt, a project of the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, issued a statement saying the debt eclipsing $22 trillion "is another sad reminder of the inexcusable tab our nation's leaders continue to run up and will leave for the next generation. With deficits rising and gross debt scheduled to jump by more than $1 trillion annually, Congress must take action to put the country on a more sustainable path. The fiscal recklessness over the past years has been shocking, with few willing to step up with a real plan. We need responsible leadership to fix the debt, not a worsening of partisanship."

There is an old saying, "If you dance all night, you have to pay the fiddler in the morning." Trouble is, this debt dance by these cunning, incompetent elected officials is costing Americans so much that no one can afford even their part of the fiddler's fee. At $22 trillion, this national debt could cause a huge economic collapse. It is increasingly difficult to live by the Biblical standard found in Romans 13:7,8, "Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor. Owe no man any thing, but to love one another." From debt to taxes to customs to tribute--who is going to pay? I've also been told, "Love don't pay the bills." Leadership matters. Accountability is key. We need to demand better.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

News from Virginia:

Northam Grants Voting Rights to 11,000 Convicted Felons

Embroiled in a racism scandal for his yearbook photos and facing severe backlash for his comments on late-term and post-birth abortion, Governor Ralph Northam is trying to carry on with business as usual.

He's already stated to the public that he's not going anywhere.

Now, his office has just announced they've restored the rights of 11,000 convicted felons.

Governor Northam made this announcement just after the one-year mark of his taking office.

Rights restored to felons included the right to vote, serve on a jury, run for public office and become a notary public.

Northam's statement did not clarify whether these rights were restored to persons convicted of voter fraud.

According to Northam's public release, the process of streamlining the restoration of rights has been in the works for several years.

"A number of reforms have been made to the restoration of rights process over the last six years, starting with Governor Robert McDonnell's initiative in 2013 to streamline the process for non-violent felons."

- Father God, we continue to pray for the State of Virginia in this time of judgment. It seems that this governor is now bending over backwards to right a wrong that can only be resolved through a word of true repentance. We ask for wisdom for all in the Virginia State Assembly as they vote whether to pass this measure. In Your Name, amen.
- "Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just."

SOFTLY AND TENDERLY JESUS IS CALLING

"He's calling you!" (Mark 10:49)

Lyrics

Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling-
Calling for you and for me;
Patiently Jesus is waiting and watching-
Watching for you and for me!

Refrain:

Come home! come home!
Ye who are weary, come home!
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!

Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading-
Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies-
Mercies for you and for me?

Refrain

Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing-
Passing from you and from me;
Shadows are gathering, death-beds are coming-
Coming for you and for me!

Refrain

Oh, for the wonderful love He has promised-
Promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon-
Pardon for you and for me!

Words and Melody: Will Lamartine Thompson, 1880

This hymn was sung at a memorial service for American civil rights leader Martin Luther King, at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia, April 8, 1968, & in the 1985 Academy Award winning movie Trip to Bountiful.

About the Hymn:

When the world-renowned lay preacher, Dwight Lyman Moody, lay on his death bed in his Northfield, Massachusetts, home, Will Thompson made a special visit to inquire as to his condition. The attending physician refused to admit him to the sickroom, and Moody heard them talking just outside the bedroom door.

Recognizing Thompson's voice, he called for him to come to his bedside. Taking the Ohio poet-composer by the hand, the dying evangelist said, Will, I would rather have written 'Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling' than anything I have been able to do in my whole life."

NASA eyes giant 'meteorite' crater beneath Greenland's ice

NASA scientists have spotted a giant crater beneath Greenland's ice that may be the result of a massive meteorite smashing into the Earth.

The crater, which is just over 22 miles wide, would be one of the largest meteorite impact sites on Earth if it is proved to be the result of a space rock. The crater is buried under more than a mile of ice.

In November 2018, scientists announced the discovery of a 19-mile-wide crater beneath Greenland's Hiawatha Glacier. Experts say that the crater was formed by a meteorite that struck Earth "less than 3 million years ago" and likely "rocked the Northern Hemisphere."
The crater beneath Hiawatha Glacier is the first of its type discovered beneath Earth's ice sheets.

If the newly-discovered 22-mile-wide crater is indeed the result of a meteorite, it would be 22nd-largest impact crater found on Earth, according to NASA. (Fox News) Read more.

"Prison of Christ" Reopens for Prayer in Jerusalem's Holy Sepulchre

[TimesOfIsrael.com] "It is in this prison that Jesus was detained [before] He carried the cross along the Via Dolorosa. Since the end of January, it has once again become a place of prayer and contemplation"

A chapel built on a site where Christians believe Jesus was imprisoned by Roman soldiers ahead of his crucifixion has reopened after repairs, a Church official said Friday.

The site, which is in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem's Old City, was repaired over a period of several years after a fire caused major damage.
